CHANGES THIS YEAR
- We now have a brand new Request Database this year! Unlike previous years where mods had to hand copy requests into a separate Google Doc, the Database will automatically populate who and what people are requesting. (Should come in handy when writing treats or looking for inspiration.)
A STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE TO SIGN-UPS BELOW THE CUT:
1. Sign in to Ao3
If you don’t have an Ao3 account, contact the mods for help!
2. Go to the Black Emporium signup field (link)
3. Scroll to the “Requests” field
There are several different components of this field:
Relationship:
Enter one, two, or three approved relationships that you would like to see in a fanwork created for you. This field will autosuggest approved pairings. If your pairing does not show up, it may be that you have fallen victim to a known bug of Ao3's that we cannot fix, wherein pairings in a tagset do not autofill. If this happens, simply type it in as it appears in the tagset.
Additional Tags: You can request fanfic, fanart, or both. Selecting "any" is treated the same as selecting both.
Letter: If you have written a letter on an external website (such as Tumblr/Wordpress/Dreamwidth/Google Docs), you may link it here.
Description: Here is where you can provide additional detail about what you would like to see in a fanwork, both in general and for specific pairings. Good things to include (in this box, a letter, or both) are general likes and dislikes, preferred content rating, and Do Not Wants. Please remember to put your DNW's (do not wants) in the Ao3 sign up form - we can only take action if you put your DNW in your Ao3 sign-up form because it is the only thing we can absolutely guarantee that your creator will be able to access.
Remember that anyone who creates fanwork for you must respect your Do Not Wants. If you do not enter anything into this box, and you do not have a link to a letter, we will assume that means you are okay with anything for the specified pairing(s). If you have any preferences or things you do not want, we would encourage you to add them. It makes the process smoother for all involved.
Here are some things commonly put in the description box:
Likes/Wants:
- Frequently it can be considered helpful to your author or artist if they have some idea of what you like to see, and what you don't. For example:
I love F!Adaar/Sera because I think the idea of them merrily pranking their way around Skyhold is so much fun. Please don't write me something sad about them.
Do Not Wants:
- Stuff that makes you uncomfortable, or just plain stuff that is Not Your Thing. While the Black Emporium does not believe in kink shaming or otherwise insulting people for their own personal taste, we do want people to let their artists or authors know what their limits are. You don't have to give any reasons for this; "no x/y/z" gives your creator plenty of info to discern where your limits are.
We can only take action if someone writes you something against your DNWs if it is in your sign-up.
Prompts:
Prompts can be just about anything, but they're meant to be ideas that you'd like to see that can help give your artist or author something to work off of. Sometimes this can be a prompt or a question you'd like explored (for example: What if Solas found himself falling for M!Trevelyan? How would he feel about potentially falling for a human?) or an idea you'd love to see (Josie and M!Cadash snuggled up in front of a fire, please!) or just a few words of inspiration (Leliana/Josephine - secrets, lies, ravens).
Details about your character(s):
It is fairly common for people to give basic descriptions of their characters if it is a character where their appearance or personality may vary (ex: Wardens/Hawkes/Inquisitors), particularly if fanart is requested. These descriptions can be very basic indeed (ex: purple hawke), or extremely detailed (ex: This is Celeste Trevelyan, she loves her squad more than life itself, pink hair, dusky-rose skin, built like she could bench press you six ways from sunday).
Bucket Requests:
You may also use the description field to note additional pairings that you would be willing to receive. You may find this option helpful if you are willing to consider different Warden or Inquisitor backgrounds for your specified pairing that have been nominated. You are limited to an additional ten pairings specified in this manner. Please fill out the form entirely before filling in pairings manually in the description; those that you fill in in the relationship field (the first 30) will take priority.
Things you should not put in the description field:
“I would like anything but nasty [kink]. I think people who write that are gross and nasty.”
Please do not insult people who like something you dislike. It’s Not For You, and That’s Okay. “No [kink]” expresses this much better than a long explanation of why you don’t like [kink].
“I’m only choosing this to get to three nominations. Please don’t write it.”
While we know someone who signs up for a, b and z may want a and/or b more than z, but please don’t scream to your author or artist that what you may well match on is something you don’t want as much as other pairings. Writing something like this also reduces your chance at treats as well.
“Even though I said I wanted M!Solavellan, I’m fine with F!Solavellan too if you like that better.”
Please don’t tell people that you’d be alright with non-nominated pairings, as fics with only non-nominated pairings cannot be added to the collection.
Minimums and Maximums in Requests:
You are required to fill out a minimum of three request fields (Required: Relationship, Additional Tags; Optional: Letter, Description). Remember that you may put in one OR two relationships per request field, so the maximum number of pairings that you can list in this manner is thirty. Remember also that you must fill out at least 3 request fields, so if you fill 2 out with 3 requests in each "request box", Ao3 will still want you to add one more -- it's a good rule of thumb to fill at least three out with one request, then double up as you wish.
4. Continue to the “Offers” field
If it continues to give an error, please drop us a comment with the pairing so we can figure out what's going on. You also have the option to select any relationship.
By selecting “Any Relationship,” that means that you are willing to write or draw fanwork for, literally, ANY of the approved pairings.
The only limitation we will accept will be be a limitation of what category of relationship you want to create for: eg, Any F/F, Any M/M, Any F/M, Any Multi, Any Other, or Any Nonbinary. Anything else WILL BE REJECTED. You may NOT use this option to say, for example, “Any Cullen pairing”. This option is for any and all of the approved pairings in your designated category/categories. Do not use this option unless you are sure that any is truly what you want.
Additional Tags:
You can offer to create fanfic, fanart, or both. Selecting "any" is treated the same as selecting both.
Comments for mods:
Here is where you can provide additional detail about what you will and won’t create. As with your requests, you can provide general likes and dislikes as well as things that you absolutely will not do. If there is someone signed up you absolutely cannot stand, please write "don't match me to x" here; we won't ask details, we just won't match and this will be a fully confidential field. If you hate nugs, put it here, and we'll make sure you get at least one nug-free prompt and, ideally, a nug-free sign-up. We want you to have an assignment you'll be happy about, so if you've got something that would be triggering for you to create for, let us know. We can only take action based on our own knowledge, so the more information we have the better we can try to match you with what you really want. If you do not enter anything into this box, we will assume that means you are okay with anything for the specified pairing(s) selected. If you have any preferences or do not wants, we would encourage you to add them. It makes the process smoother for all involved. None of the mods will blab over whatever you write; we just want you to have the best time possible with your assignment.
Minimums and Maximums in Offers:
You are required to fill out a minimum of three offer fields (Required: Fandom, Relationship, Additional Tags; Optional: Comments to mods). Remember that you may put in one or two relationships per request field, so the maximum number of pairings that you can list in this manner is twenty. Remember also that you must fill out at least 3 offer fields, so if you fill 2 offer fields out with 2 offers in each "box", Ao3 will still want you to add one more offer field even though you have one over the minimum required amount of offers -- it's a good rule of thumb to fill at least three offer fields, each with one offer, then go back and double up or not, as you wish.
Bucket Offers:
You may also use the comments to mod field to note additional pairings that you would be willing to write if you have already filled thirty slots. You may find this option helpful if you are willing to consider different Warden or Inquisitor backgrounds for your specified pairing. You are limited to an additional ten pairings specified in this manner. Once again, those filled in the actual relationship: tags will take priority over those written in, so choose which pairing goes where carefully!
A Note on Matching
Black Emporium runs on OR matching, which means that you will match on one relationship out of the ones that you offer and request. You are guaranteed to match on ONE relationship; you may match on more, you may not. For your assignment, you can write what you matched on OR you can write any other couple on their sign-up form. You will only have to write or draw for ONE request, not all of them. The minimums will be one piece of artwork or one 1,000 word fic.

Exchange Posting Guide
Hello, friends and frenemies! We are less than three days away from the collection opening, which means I have a tension headache every morning I wake up and remember that I have to finish my exchange fic. The no-fault defaulting deadline has passed, but if you realise you will not be able to finish on time please, please let us know ASAP anyway so we can get a knight writer to write your recipient a gift.
On the other hand, if you have completed your exchange fic draft, please remember to tell us before the 1st! About a third of the participants already confirmed they’ve finished their fic, and we say:
Tumblr media
Okay, now with the collection opening soon, here’s some FAQ on posting!
First off, how dare you?
Honestly, I ask myself that all the time, and the answer is there is no answer. We knew what an exchange would be like. Chances are, you did too when you signed up because many of you were here last year. We have no one else to blame but ourselves.
How does posting work?
The exchange portal will open on August 1st at 12pm AEST. Once it opens, use AO3 to upload your fic as usual:
Tumblr media
Most of the upload process will be exactly the same as usual, but you need to fill in the following two fields:
Tumblr media
Fill in the first with “JaimeBrienneFicExchange2021” (It should autofill, but please be careful to select the right collection! This one is the one we're using. Alternatively, you can go straight to that collection and click the “Post to Collection” button on the top right under the banner once the collection is open.)
Type in your recipient’s AO3 name in the second field. Double check your original prompt to ensure you have the correct name. A few people have different tumblr/AO3 names and we don’t want any fics to go awry.
If you've already made an AO3 draft before the 1st, make sure you add it to the collection and put in your recipient's username in the fields we mentioned above, and make sure you change the date when posting (or your fic will be buried). Be aware it can cause some shenanigans where the fic may not appear at the top of the page.
After that, it’s as simple as clicking post! Your fic will be submitted to the exchange and automatically be made anonymous. As the author, when you open your own fic, it will say ‘YourUsername (Anonymous)’, but to other users it will simply say ‘Anonymous’. Author’s names will not be revealed until August 21st, when we click the button to reveal them.
Feel free to reply to comments during that week. As long as you are logged into the account that posted the fic, all of your comments will also be anonymised.
If any of this process is confusing to you, PLEASE reach out to one of the organisers (nire-the-mithridatist/slipsthrufingers/firesign23/samirant/im-auntie-social)! We’re happy to hold your hand through the process 🤗
What about Lil’ Oathkeepers?
I’m glad you asked, imaginary exchange participant that’s totally not me talking to myself! A Lil’ Oathkeeper is a gift that can be any size and shape. It can be art! A video edit! A moodboard! A fic shorter than 1000 words! Or… a fic longer than a 1000 words, but you probably know that. Anyone (you don’t even have to be signed up to the exchange) can make and gift a Lil’ Oathkeeper. We’ll be releasing the prompt spreadsheet and posting instructions on the 1st!
Why is the exchange opening a day earlier than you said?
Because Slips has set the time on the exchange to suit her own timezone. She has to stay up till after midnight to watch F1 cars go vroom vroom and had to deal with being spoiled for every single episode of Game of Thrones on Tumblr and Twitter because it aired in the US while she was at work. This is her own petty little vengeance and she will not apologise for that.
Also it’s easier for her to keep everything straight in her head this way. Mathematics is not her strength. We’re kindly moderators though, so here’s a handy timezone conversion for you.
Why do I need to let you know by the 1st that I’ve finished my fic if I can post it anytime during the following week?
So we can find a knight writer ASAP. The sooner we know that you won’t be able to complete your fic, the sooner we can find someone to fill in for you. We don’t want anyone to be disappointed.
Do I have to post ON the 1st of August? I’ll be AFK for the day because my cat has a piano recital!
No, you can post it anytime between the 1st and the 7th. If you can’t or don’t want to post it on Sunday, then you can absolutely wait until later. We anticipate that the bulk of fics will be posted over the weekend, but if you want to post it on the 6th, then that’s absolutely your choice. Just be mindful that your recipient may be worrying why they haven’t received one.
Also tell your cat we’re rooting for them!
I really overshot the 1k limit and need to post multiple chapters. Should I post them together and drop my 40k prompt fill in the tag all at once, or can I stagger it throughout the week?
You must have a complete posted story by the 7th of August, unless you have reached out to us to make alternate arrangements. If you want to post your story over the week, you can. If you want to post it all at once, you can. As long as your prompter gets a completed fic in the posting window, we don’t mind.
(Also, look at your life, look at your choices! It was a 1k minimum!!! Buncha overachievers in this fandom, I swear 😂😂😂)
Can I thank my beta in the notes of my story?
Absolutely you can! The betas of the fandom be working HARD this week, they definitely deserve recognition. Just be mindful of including anything in your notes that might reveal who you are. You could choose to name your beta, or just thank them generally and add their name after authors have been revealed.
What if I don’t receive a story?
It might be because your author hasn’t posted it yet - they have the full week from the 1st to the 7th to post their story. It also might be because your fic needed a knight writer to write it. If this is the case, know that your knight is probably working very diligently to complete it, but might not be able to complete it within the window. If it looks like your fic will be significantly delayed (like until after authors are revealed) we will contact you directly to let you know what’s up.
What’s the etiquette around thanking my author?
A kudos and a comment is pretty standard. It’s up to you how long your comment is; we don’t write comments with our heads, we write them with our hearts. Just keep in mind that a person out there spent time working on something just for you and make sure you show your appreciation, even if the story isn’t exactly what you expected!
Can I promote my story?
Please don’t do this until authors have been revealed through the collection.
Can I rec my gift story?
Absolutely! Share the love! You can choose to rec it while it’s still anonymous, or wait until the authors are revealed. It’s up to you.
I’m not participating in the exchange, but I want to get into the spirit of the week. What can I do?!
Well firstly, read any of the 102 fics we expect to be posted that week! Read them and enjoy them! Leave a kudos! Leave a comment! Leave ten comments! Write rec lists and share them on Tumblr or Discord or TikTok, wherever it is that the cool kids hang these days!
What’s for dinner, nire?
Chicken, seasoned with my own tears.
I have another question that hasn’t been answered in the FAQs
Either send us a message through tumblr, or get in touch with one of the organisers privately. We’ll get back to you ASAP!

Sign Ups Are Open!
SIGN-UPS ARE OPEN! Sign-ups for the Spectre Requisitions exchange will be possible from January 19th to February 1st. You must fill out at least five unique requests and three unique offers (requests and offers do not necessarily have to be the same!).  You may also choose ‘Any Pairings’ and ask or volunteer to write any of the pairings of the nominations list. NOW THAT SAID: SIGN UP! SIGN UP! SIGN-UP! CLICK HERE TO SIGN-UP! You can go back and edit your Sign Up Form up until  1 February 2021 06:00PM EST. A BIG WARNING ABOUT USING ‘ANY PAIRINGS’: Any pairing means exactly that, that you are willing to get or create fanworks for any pairing. We cannot control what characters or prompts are in an “Any Pairings” request. Thus, it should not be used for a request like “Any Garrus Vakarian fic”.  “Any pairing” requests should only be requested for when you really want to see a certain trope or kink  (and don’t care which characters are used) and should only be offered if you want the sheer challenge of a pure mystery! The only thing we will allow you to limit it by is the category of relationship, eg Gen, F/F, M/M or F/M. Anything else put into the box will be ignored so chose this option CAREFULLY. If you would like to participate but do not have an AO3 account, please send us a message and we will get you an invitation.
One Important Warning About DNW: Please add your DNW (Do Not Wants) to your sign-ups. We cannot enforce DNWs that are only in letters!
How Do I Sign Up? Instructions beneath the cut:
1) Go to the Sign Up Form at AO3 while you are logged in (or go to the Spectre Requisitions Collection for this year and click “Sign Up”) 2) Click the checkmark on “Mass Effect - All Media Types” for the fandom!
3) Start writing the name of your favorite character/pairing from the nominations. Don’t forget to check the spreadsheet if you need inspiration!
4) The box should start to autofill as you type; if it doesn’t, simply enter things as they are in the tagset. Select your pairing of choice. You can have one or two pairings per request, and may have ten requests total. This gives you a total of 20 potential pairings to request at maximum, and the minimum is 5 requests and 3 offers.
This is what it looks like with one relationship filled in:
Tumblr media
Note that the box is still active and allows you to fill more in. If you are planning on requesting only the minimum, please only fill one in per box.
And here’s what it looks like with two tags filled in:
Tumblr media
Now, the box is gone, and you’ve maxed out this request set. Note that when you’re doing multiple pairings, you’ll have to put your prompts/likes/DNWs for both pairings in the same box. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you’ve got more questions! 5) Decide whether you would like to potentially receive fanart or fanfic, or both. Check the applicable box(es) or select “any” for both. 6) Give your author some idea of what you want to see in the description box. Good things to list: general likes, rating restrictions, prompt ideas, squicks/triggers/do-not-wants, or anything else you’d like the writer to know. Make sure you list things you definitively do not want. Authors and artists are absolutely forbidden to ignore squicks and triggers. Otherwise, the only guideline of your prompt authors/artists is unequivocally beholden to is the requested pairing, though they are encouraged to take your preferences into consideration. 7) Repeat between 5-10 times, as you like! 8) You may write a letter that goes more in-depth and post it to your Tumblr, DreamWidth, public Google doc, or another platform, and then fill in the URL in the letterbox. 9) Fill out your offers. You must fill out at least three unique pairings you would be okay with writing and can choose one or two pairings to fill in per request. If you have any comments for the moderators, please put them in the “Notes for Mods” section. This should be used for people you don’t want to match with, subjects you feel you can’t/won’t draw/write, or other information that you think may be helpful for matching you with a good assignment.
A BIG WARNING ABOUT USING ‘ANY PAIRINGS’: You may choose to offer ANY, but this means you could be matched to ANYONE who has signed up for the exchange. Do NOT pick Any Pairings if you are not up for a challenge! The only thing we will allow you to limit it by is a category of relationship, eg Gen, F/F, M/M or M/F. Anything else cannot be controlled so chose this CAREFULLY. 10) Click submit! And welcome to the Mass Effect Rare Pair Exchange!

18 Questions Tag Game
@nimium-amatrix-ingenii-sui tagged me in this; since I can’t sleep and am this close to doomscrolling, let’s try and break that spiral with some memery.
1. Why did you choose your URL? I had another tumblr before this and decided to switch because of fandom drama. At the same time, I read a poem about clouds that was all about disengagement and just hit the mood of the moment. Plus, Galadriel’s Lament in Quenya is one of my favourite Tolkien poems, and Varda uplifting her hands like clouds (ve fanyar) and drowning all the paths in deep shadow also fit what I was doing.
2. Any side blogs? A bunch, only two of which are sort-of active. @itslovethatsavesthem for Critical Role (specifically for M9 and EXU, also spoilery, don’t click through if you haven’t seen those) and @ivrun for my main DnD character, a Half-Orc Life Domain Cleric of Eldath/Divine Soul Sorcerer - mostly commissions, dollmakers and various inspirational things from around tumblr that fit her.
3. How long have you been on Tumblr? Too long.
4. Do you have a queue tag? There are a couple that I don’t even remember, but I got tired of typing them out before autofill tags became a thing, so now it’s just “q”, purely out of laziness, no political meaning behind it, if that needs stating.
5. What did you originally start this blog for? This one? Tolkien. The one I had before? Fandom action had moved to tumblr, and I remember thinking that I wanted to engage with the Sherlock fandom a bit more after finding out that one of the actors in that show was gonna be young Bilbo... and then I got hooked on that show for a brief but pretty intense time. Yikes.
6. Why did you choose your icon? It’s a faux-elven crest I made to match one of my first layouts and then got attached to. At that point I was poking at gender stuff a bit, so the fact that it’s neither a purely male nor purely female design as Tolkien’s heraldic rules go was more or less intentional.
7. Why did you choose your header? It’s one of Tolkien’s artworks of Lothlórien; I always adored the detail of the mallorn tree in flower.
8. What’s your post with the most notes? This quote, apparently? Not even something I made myself, what a bummer.
9. How many followers do you have? 667. Who are you and why are you following me? ♥
10. How many blogs do you follow? 226, but I think it may be time to sift through them again, because I don’t recognize half the names and fandoms after being relatively inactive here for a while, no personal hard feelings.
11. Have you ever made a sh*tpost? Oh yeah, plenty.
12. How often do you use Tumblr every day? Ehhhh. I haven’t been here a lot recently because school was pretty taxing and my brain just wasn’t able to keep up with two things... but usually I check at least twice a day, more when there’s extended downtime.
13. Have you ever had a fight with another blog? Oh yeah, there were people I fought with who happened to have blogs. Not so much with the blogs themselves. :P
14. How do you feel about “you have to reblog this” posts? Guilt-trippy shit like that is just making sure that I won’t reblog this post - if I want it on my blog regardless, I reblog it from someone before that, usually not with that comment attached.
15. Opinion on tag games? Can be interesting!
16. Opinion on ask games? Same thing! I wish there were more responses, but still!
17. Which of your mutuals is Tumblr famous? Uh...  don’t know, don’t care?
18. Do you have a crush on any of your mutuals? One of them is my girlfriend, just saying... ;) I also do frequently get cases of platonic starry-eyes at people, though...
Not tagging anyone, but if you want to do this, please feel free to steal!

Signup Guide
It’s time to SIGN UP for the Exchange of Interest! The mods are providing this guide in hopes that it will make the process smoother for everyone :)
1. Sign in to Ao3
If you don’t have an Ao3 account, contact the mods for help!
2. Go to the Exchange of Interest signup form
3. Scroll to the “Requests” field
Tumblr media
For each request, please choose either a character or a relationship. Both of these options are contained under the Relationship field.
If you wish to request a fanwork with a focus on a single character, start typing in “Character: “ and the form will autofill the options in for you.
Tumblr media
Otherwise, enter one relationship that you would like to see in a fanwork created for you. Relationships may be romantic (/) or platonic (&). You may select any Ao3 canonical relationship or any relationship that is in the tagset.
You may also select Any Relationship. This means that you are willing to receive fanwork for, literally, any of the Ao3 canonical relationships and any tagset character/relationship. Do not use this option unless you are sure that any is what you want.
Additional Tags: You can request fanfic, fanart, fanvids, podfic, or remix. You must select one option, but you may select more -- up to and including all five.
Tumblr media
Letter: If you have written a letter on an external website (such as Tumblr/Wordpress/Dreamwidth/Google Docs), you may link it here. An example of a letter for this exchange has been provided by @keita52, here.
Description: Here is where you can provide additional detail about what you would like to see in a fanwork, both in general and for specific character(s)/pairing(s). Good things to include (in this box, a letter, or both) are general likes and dislikes, preferred content rating, and Do Not Wants. Remember that anyone who creates fanwork for you must respect your Do Not Wants.
Tumblr media
If you do not enter anything into this box, and you do not have a link to a letter, we will assume that means you are okay with anything for the specified character(s)/pairing(s). If you have any preferences or triggers, we would encourage you to add them. It makes the process smoother for all involved.
Here are some things commonly put in the description box:
Likes and Dislikes: It can be very helpful for your creator if they have some idea of what you like to see, and what you don't. For example: I love Zoe/Reese because they have such chemistry and Reese obviously respects her. Please don't write me something sad about them.
Squicks and Triggers: Stuff you absolutely do not want, stuff that makes you uncomfortable, or just plain stuff that is Not Your Thing. While the Exchange of Interest does not believe in kink shaming or otherwise insulting people for their own personal taste, we do want people to let their artists or authors know what their limits are. You don't have to give any reasons for this; no x/y/z gives your author plenty of ability to discern where your limits are.
Prompts: Prompts can be just about anything, but they're meant to be ideas that you'd like to see that can help give your artist or author something to work off of. Sometimes this can be a prompt or a question you'd like explored (for example: What if Control got to join Team Machine?) or an idea you'd love to see (Root and Shaw snuggled up in front of a fire, please!) or just a few words of inspiration (Finch/Reese - books, tea, Bear).
You are required to fill out a minimum of three request fields (Required: Fandom, Relationship, Additional Tags; Optional: Letter, Description).
4. Continue to the “Offers” field
For each offer, please choose either a character or a relationship. Both of these options are contained under the Relationship field.
If you wish to offer a fanwork with a focus on a single character, start typing in “Character: “ and the form will autofill the options in for you.
Tumblr media
Otherwise, enter one relationship that you would like to see in a fanwork that you create. Relationships may be romantic (/) or platonic (&). You may select any Ao3 canonical relationship or any relationship that is in the tagset.
You may also select Any Relationship. This means that you are willing to create fanwork for, literally, any of the Ao3 canonical relationships and any tagset character/relationship. Do not use this option unless you are sure that any is what you want.
Additional Tags: You can offer fanfic, fanart, fanvids, podfic, or remix. You must select one option, but you may select more -- up to and including all five.
Tumblr media
Comments to mods: Here is where you can provide additional detail about what you will and won’t create. As with your requests, you can provide general likes and dislikes as well as things that you absolutely will not do.
Tumblr media
If you do not enter anything into this box, we will assume that means you are okay with anything for the specified characters/relationships. If you have any preferences or triggers, we would encourage you to add them. It makes the process smoother for all involved.
You are required to fill out a minimum of three offer fields (Required: Fandom, Relationship, Additional Tags; Optional: Comments to mods).
When you’re done, hit submit! The mods will contact you if anything in your signup needs clarification.

So I don't wanna sound stupid so I'm going anon but what exactly do you mean when you say your tags are gone? And what does posting those posts do?
Hey! This is totally not a stupid question, my posts are unusual. I don’t know anyone else who does this.
Basically, if you use a tag on tumblr, it gets saved. This way, when you start to write a name or phrase or whatever, tumblr will autofill the rest of it so you don’t have to. This makes it easier to tag posts, because you don’t have to write out the entire tag, and because it keeps spelling consistent. Consistent spelling is important (including hyphens, and sometimes capitals) because it allows you (and others) to search your blog via the tags.
Every once in a while, or sometimes every other day, or even multiple times a day, depending on how moody tumblr is being, my “saved” tags get deleted. Which is annoying for two reasons. First, because I have to write them out again instead of just using a couple of letters and pressing on the tag to auto-complete it. Second, because the order in which the tags appear changes depending on which one you used first, and this means lots of scrolling or writing more of the tag until the correct one appears.
For example, I tag my Kakashi posts with #hatake kakashi. But I also use other tags depending on how old he is (I use #kakachibi for young Kakashi, as an example) and tags for shipping (like #kakasaku, #kakagai, #kakaobi, etc) and I don’t want the first autofilled tag to be any of those because I use them less than his full name, which I use in every Kakashi post.
It gets more annoying when you use a character name a lot, like Naruto. Especially since there are many Uzumaki characters too, so unless I write out most of the tag, it won’t auto-complete to the name I want.
As I way to get around this, stemming from my laziness, of all things, I started making posts with all my tags in the order I want them to appear, from least used to most used. That’s why my Kakashi tags come last, while other tags (like the inuzuka or aburame ones) come before. I used to continually make new posts, and then delete them, but then I wouldn’t remember the exact order I want them in. So to get around this, I’ve begun to reblog the same posts, copying the tags in the exact order, so that they appear in the order I want them to when I begin to write out a tag. I usually delete the posts right after so that they don’t clog my blog or other people’s feeds.
I took laziness to the next level.
tl;dr: good and not at all stupid question. Tags auto save when you use them. My saved tags randomly disappear every once in a while. I like saved tags because I am lazy and want to type less. So I made posts with my tags so that I could tag my posts while posting my tags. *insert xzibitmeme.jpg here*

Jaime x Brienne Fic Exchange FAQ & Posting Guide
Tumblr media
First off, how dare you?
What? You signed up for it. We didn’t make you! (But we’re so happy you did!)
How does posting work?
The exchange portal will open on the 7th at 12pm AEST ( the countdown is here ). Once it opens, use AO3 to upload your fic as usual:
Tumblr media
Most of the upload process will be exactly the same as normal, but you need to fill in the following two fields:
Tumblr media
Fill in the first with “Jaime x Brienne Fic Exchange 2020” (It should autofill, but please be careful to select the right collection! This one is the one we're using.)
Type in your recipient’s AO3 name in the second field. Double check your original prompt to ensure you have the correct name. A few people have different tumblr/AO3 names and we don’t want any fics to go awry.
If you've already made an AO3 draft before the 7th, make sure you add it to the collection and put in your recipient's username in the fields we mentioned above, and make sure you change the date when posting (or your fic will be buried). Be aware it can cause some shenanigans where the fic may not appear at the top of the page. And don't be like a certain organiser and accidentally post something you meant to be a draft.
After that, it’s as simple as clicking post! Your fic will be submitted to the exchange and automatically be made anonymous. Author’s names will not be revealed until August 22, when we click the button to reveal them.
Feel free to reply to comments during that week. As long as you are logged into the account that posted the fic, all of your comments will also be anonymised.
If any of this process is confusing to you, PLEASE reach out to one of the organisers ( @nire-the-mithridatist / @slipsthrufingers / @firesign23 )! We’re happy to hold your hand through the process 🤗
Why is the exchange opening a day earlier than you said?
Because I’ve set the time on the exchange to suit my own timezone. I have to stay up till after midnight to watch F1 cars go vroom vroom and had to deal with being spoiled for every single episode of Game of Thrones on Tumblr and Twitter because it aired in the US while I was at work. This is my own petty little vengeance and I will not apologise for that.
Also it’s easier for me to keep everything straight in my head this way. Mathematics is not my strength.
Why do I need to let you know by the 7th that I’ve finished my fic if I can post it anytime during the following week?
So we can find a knight writer ASAP. The sooner we know that you won’t be able to complete your fic, the sooner we can find someone to fill in for you. We don’t want anyone to be disappointed.
Do I have to post ON the 7th of August? I’ll be AFK for the day because my cat has a piano recital!
No, you can post it anytime between the 7th and the 14th. If you can’t or don’t want to post it on Friday, then you can absolutely wait until later. We anticipate that the bulk of fics will be posted over the weekend, but if you want to post it on the 13th, then that’s absolutely your choice.
It’s your choice! If you want to post your story over the week, you can. If you want to post it all at once, you can. As long as the story is mostly posted within the 7th to the 14th window, we don’t mind. If you want to post a chapter or two after the 14th, because your 40k behemoth has more than 7 chapters or grumkins ate your wifi, then that’s cool. Life happens! Please try to have the whole fic posted before authors are revealed on the 22nd.
It might be because your author hasn’t posted it yet - they have the full week from the 7th to the 14th to post their story.
What’s for dinner, slips?
The souls of naughty children, and also maybe nachos.
I have another question that hasn’t been answered in the FAQs
Either send us a message through tumblr, or get in touch with one of the organisers privately or via email. We’ll get back to you ASAP!

How to sign up for Black Emporium!
Yes sweet nuglets, it's that time of year again: Time to sign up for Black Emporium!
Helpful Links:
How to Guide || Requests on Ao3 || Tagset || Nominations Spreadsheet
Signups end: July 18, 2020 @ 8:00PM EDT || Countdown
CHANGES THIS YEAR -Maximum number of offers and requests increased to 30 through the Ao3 signup, plus 10 "bucket" offers/requests in optional details (40 total) -If you decide to offer "any", you may offer "any nonbinary" as well as the other relationship categories (F/F, F/M, M/M, Multi) -Sign up summary will now show requests/offers on a per-pairing basis - once a pairing is requested, it will be added to the sign-up summary the next time it updates (on an hourly basis) A STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE TO SIGN-UPS
I love F!Adaar/Sera because I think the idea of them merrily pranking they way around Skyhold is so much fun.
You don't have to give any reasons for this;"no x/y/z" gives your creator plenty of info to discern where your limits are.
We can only take action if someone writes you something against your DNWs if it is in your sign-up.
Prompts -
Prompts can be just about anything, but they're meant to be ideas that you'd like to see that can help give your artist or author something to work off of. Sometimes this can be a prompt or a question you'd like explored (for example: What if Solas found himself falling for M! Trevelyan? How would he feel about potentially falling for a human?) or an idea you'd love to see (Josie and M!Cadash snuggled up in front of a fire, please!) or just a few words of inspiration (Leliana/Josephine - secrets, lies, ravens).
Details about your character(s):
Please fill out the form entirely before resulting as filling in pairings manually in the description; those that you fill in in the relationship field (the first 30) will take priority.
Things you should not put in the description field:
“I would like anything but nasty [kink]. I think people write that are gross and nasty.”
Please do not insult people who like something you dislike. It’s Not For You, and That’s Okay. “No [kink]” expresses this much better than a long explanation of why you don’t like [kink].
“I’m only choosing this to get to three nominations. Please don’t write it.”
While we know someone who signs up for a,b and z may want a and/or b more than z, but please don’t scream to your author or artist that what you may well match on is something you don’t want as much as other pairings.
If it continues to give an error, please drop us a comment with the pairing so we can figure out what's going on. You also have the option to select any relationship.
This means that you are willing to write or draw fanwork for, literally, any of the approved pairings.
The only limitation we will accept will be be a limitation of what sort of relationship you want to create for: eg, any f/f, any m/m, any f/m, any multi, or any nonbinary. Anything else WILL BE REJECTED. You may NOT use this option to say, for example, “Any Cullen pairing”. This option is for any and all of the approved pairings. Do not use this option unless you are sure that any is what you want.

Five Days Left for Sign-ups!
SIGN-UPS ARE OPEN! Sign-ups for the Spectre Requisitions exchange will be possible from January 20 to February 2nd. You must fill out at least five unique requests and three unique offers (requests and offers do not necessarily have to be the same!). Anytime someone offers something, we will update the “Offers Present?” tab on the nominations spreadsheet with an [x] when it is offered. You may also choose ‘Any Pairings’ and ask or volunteer to write any of the pairings of the nominations list. NOW THAT SAID: SIGN UP! SIGN UP! SIGN-UP! CLICK HERE TO SIGN-UP! You can go back and edit your Sign Up Form up until  February 2nd @ 06:00PM EST.
3) The box should start to autofill as you type; if it doesn’t, simply enter things as they are in the tagset.
Now, the box is gone, and you've maxed out this request set. Note that when you’re doing multiple pairings, you’ll have to put your prompts/likes/DNWs for both pairings in the same box. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you’ve got more questions! 4) Decide whether you would like to potentially receive fanart or fanfic, or both. Check the applicable box(es) or select “any” for both.  5) Give your author some idea of what you want to see in the description box. 6) Repeat between 5-10 times, as you like!

- Frequently it can be considered helpful to your author or artist if they have some idea of what you like to see, and what you don't. For example:
I love F!Adaar/Sera because I think the idea of them merrily pranking they way around Skyhold is so much fun.
Sometimes this can be a prompt or a question you'd like explored (for example:
What if Solas found himself falling for M! Trevelyan? How would he feel about potentially falling for a human?) or an idea you'd love to see (Josie and M!Cadash snuggled up in front of a fire, please!) or just a few words of inspiration (Leliana/Josephine - secrets, lies, ravens).
Details about your character(s):
You may also use the description field to note additional pairings that you would be willing to receive. You may find this option helpful if you are willing to consider different Warden or Inquisitor backgrounds for your specified pairing that have been nominated. You are limited to an additional ten pairings specified in this manner. Please fill out the form entirely before resulting as filling in pairings manually in the description; those that you fill in in the relationship field (the first 20) will take priority.
Writing something like this also reduces your chance at treats as well.
“Even though I said I wanted M! Solavellan, I’m fine with F! Solavellan too if you like that better.”
Remember that you may put in one OR two relationships per request field, so the maximum number of pairings that you can list in this manner is twenty. Remember also that you must fill out at least 3 request fields, so if you fill 2 out with 2 requests in each "request box", Ao3 will still want you to add two more -- it's a good rule of thumb to fill at least three out with one request, then double up as you wish.
4. Continue to the “Offers” field
There are several different components of this field:
Fandom: Please select Dragon Age - All Media Types.
Relationship: Enter one or two approved relationships that you would like to see in a fanwork created for you. This field will autosuggest approved pairings. If your pairing does not show up, it may be that you have fallen victim to a known bug of Ao3's that we cannot fix, wherein pairings in a tagset do not autofill. If this happens, simply type it in as it appears in the tagset. If it continues to give an error, please drop us a comment with the pairing so we can figure out what's going on.  You also have the option to select any  relationship.
This means that you are willing to write or draw fanwork for, literally, any of the approved pairings.
The only limitation we will accept will be be a limitation of what sort of relationship you want to create for: eg, any f/f, any m/m, any f/m, or any multi. Anything else WILL BE REJECTED.   You may NOT use this option to say, for example, “Any Cullen pairing”. This option is for any and all of the approved pairings. Do not use this option unless you are sure that any is what you want.
Neither Mod K nor Mod A will blab over whatever you write; we just want you to have the best time possible with your assignment.
Minimums and Maximums in Offers:
You are required to fill out a minimum of three offer fields (Required: Fandom, Relationship, Additional Tags;Optional: Comments to mods). Remember that you may put in one or two relationships per request field, so the maximum number of pairings that you can list in this manner is twenty. Remember also that you must fill out at least 3 offer fields, so if you fill 2 offer fields out with 2 offers in each "box", Ao3 will still want you to add one more offer field even though you have one over the minimum required amount of offers -- it's a good rule of thumb to fill at least three offer fields, each with one request, then go back and double up or not, as you wish.
Bucket Offers:
You may also use the comments to mod field to note additional pairings that you would be willing to write if you have already filled twenty slots.

Additional Tags: You can request fanfic, fanart, or both. Selecting "any" is treated the same as as selecting both.
