im new here, so im sorry if this is a question youve answered before but tumblr's search bar failed me in finding this to be previous answered but.. uhmmm
c... can we make ocs/personas for Felt World? or would you rather we not or we hold off until further in?? bc i would love to make a puppet give our cowboy a smooch before he is, i assume bc he is a fucking catch and a half, taken off the market in canon lol i assume he wont still be single by the end. im a tad bit too embarrassed to ever post such drawings, but i wanted to know in case i ever did become brave enough to make them public if such you would be welcome to be tagged in or if that would make you feel uncomfortable
and also, for that purpose: as someone with disabilities, im really curious how disabilities are translated into Felt World? obviously not all of them, that'd take forever. but i was curious if they use mobility aids just like ours or if they use ones we could not have (an example of what i mean could be like "seal-chairs" in "Witch Hat Atelier"? they are chairs with hooves that run and jump, as opposed to wheels). and i know you said music is really powerful in this world, in both singing and instruments, but i wanted to also ask how in a world with so much focus on sound are the deaf/hard of hearing accomadated? deaf/HoH people can still play instruments, obviously (the most famous example being Beethoven), but i meant other than that
(also, if i recall accurately you once said that "the puppets have to speak to be considered sentient beings"? i was wondering if in the future could that be amended to "have to be able to communicate"? because i assume nonverbal puppets would still exist, as well as puppets who just dont speak much (whether thats a facet of deafness or nonspeaking shutdown or just a quiet personality). or would that break Felt World's world-building's logic in some way? that's a genuine question. i wasnt sure how to word it in a way that would minimize the risk of one being put on their back-foot, but i tried my best, it really is a genuine question)
(also, because i never like to assume fluency in disability-knowledge: if you need a resource on media portrayals of disability at any point, i highly recommend the youtuber, Oakwyrm. they do a lot of really cool analysis videos on disability. i do apologize if i am overstepping, and you are already largely fluent in disabled portrayals in media and/or already aware of Oakwyrm's existence. i just like to shout at least one resource out because i know many people have no idea where to look to learn more about general disability representation advice and whatnot. you do not have to watch their videos if you do not want to ♡)
also a bit of a tangent, idk if this is just a "for now" aspect of Donna due to her adjusting or if this is a core pillar of her personality but... just, thank you for making a feminine character who cries a lot and is emotional with Big Feelings. ive always felt more connected to the Dorthy Gales, Cinderellas, Clarisse de Cagliostros kind of heroines who are a bit of a "damsel in distress" (tho i do think that term reduces a lot of their agency and bravery) and i feel a bit lonely that we dont see many emotional-vitality-driven heroines who need some help as much as badass heroines or sassy heroines, both of whom are fully capable of getting shit sone alone. makes my cry-baby disabled ass feel a little pathetic (im very physically weak because of my chronic health issues, and am the type of Autistic ADHDer who is very sensitive to getting big feelings), even tho i know those types of heroines are valid and needed. i resonate a lot with AJR's lyric about "But I'm weak. And what's wrong with that?" even though i know im taking it out of context
and im sure Donna will prove herself capable of being on her own and having her own agency, same as all the heroines ive listed, i dont assume she will be stagnant, but i just wanted to really thank you for making a character that i relate to. i dont get that often. it makes me feel a bit abnormal and strange, and i mean moreso than the "well youre neurodivergent and sickly" kind of abnormal that would be implied. like. Weird Kid sitting alone at lunch kind of strange. so its really cool to see Donna and feel less lonely, is what im saying. i wish there were more heroines like her for people like me nowadays, rather than the archetype being reduced to "archiac stereotypes" (which i both do and dont understand the logic of. it depends on context and the example given) and therefore shelving a type of heroine we dont see in a lot of contemporary media (in exchange for a heroine we didnt get to see often (if at all) in past media, the sassy and badass ones, i do get it, and im glad theyre being used more as they should have always been. there are a select few of both camps that feel like "women have to be as stereotypically masculine as possible to be worthy of being called 'a strong character'" when i think strong characters have less to do with personality and more to do with "do they direct the narrative's plot? do they have agency?". but i could be wrong about that and i am getting off-topic)
but yeah. just. overall: thank you for introducing Donna to be like she is. it means a lot to me to see a heroine like her in contemporary media. im really excited to see what youll do next ♡ but yeah, i know im babbling a lot here and you dont need to reply to this half, i just really wanted to stress my thanks and WHY you have my thanks ♡♡♡ i really appreciate having Donna sit at my metaphorical lunch-table with me, even if she has to go sit somewhere else later. its been really nice to be beside her

I had to take a few hours to think about everything to make sure I answered everything. But I should start off by showing my gratitude for the amount of time and effort you put into formulating this! So thank you, this was a really cool ask to receive <3
As for OCs, absolutely you can! I've already had a few who've made theirs, and I have no rules at all when it comes to shipping or self inserts or anything, as long as everyone is being respectful towards each other ^^
As for the disability aspect, I have a few key points that I want to explore in regards to especially deafness and muteness (is it called that? muteness?), but that's further along the story and will be introduced later! Also how song vs instruments work in this world is a part of the lore itself that'll be explained further down the line too, so no need to worry about our fellow mute or deaf/hoh peeps!
I have of course thought about mobility aids and other disability accommodations (because they can be born with defect, illnesses, and be injured pretty much like us, their bodies are a bit more fantastical but there are still rules) but i must admit didn't think further other than to give them similar mobility aids that we use. But clearly it would make more sense to make something more fantastical! I'll give it a thought! That's probably gonna be a fun design exercise ^^
I'm not sure if I can answer the entire ask in a way that does it justice, it's quite frankly the coolest message I've gotten, I'm gonna try and not let it get to my head (lol),
but i'm so glad you and seemingly many others seem to like Donna and appreciate her specifically for being sensitive and reacting strongly. It shouldn't be but it's really daunting to write female leads because as we know people just don't like women in media generally, but I eventually just got over it because I realized I was starting to write a character that demanded the audience cared and respected, rather than showing a story that I had fun telling, in a world worth exploring.
And not to spoil but I've already decided I do not want Donna to go through an arc where she's forced to abandon her emotions or go through something physically traumatic in order to "become tough" to be respected, that's not only overdone but lame and harmful wish fulfillment. So no worries in that department!
But anyways, I don't think I can properly say how appreciative I am of this ask!!! It really warms my heart that you and other people are going out of your way to send me asks about my little story that I came up with on a whim!!! It's truly the best compliment as a creator.

I am doing good! 😊 i wanna ask about Nix in Inky Mystery AU, not sure if you answered that before- but whats his role exactly in IM?? Is he an ally to the questers?? And whats his talent?? :3
Interesting question! I’m so glad people are showing interest in Nix! I appreciate it a lot!
I wont explain too much about his backstory right not (because that’s a whole mess of lore) but he was picked up by Mickey’s circus in Europe and taken to America. He performs in the circus by doing flying and fire trick stunts. They call him the “human pheonix” (ironically enough). Whenever he’s not doing shows he helps in any way he can to make other shows go smoothly. (Also making sure that there aren’t any fire hazards that could burn down the circus) and is (kind of) a quote-unquote “magic expert” on fantastic creatures or any kinds of magic the circus comes across (although his knowledge on the subject isn’t all that vast).
Later on as mickey and ozzy become more involved in the quest he’d show up from time to time offering to help the questers in any way he can. Mostly running errands for red, granny, and oddswell. Delivering messages between the house and the circus. Helping to distribute medicine for the sick. (Especially after the fire) He uses his ability to fly to help people in any possible way.
In terms of people he interacts with he’d be kidna close to Boris and Winston. (Especially when boris starts coming around for sword lessons with mickey) and Winston because…. Fire. I’d like to say that he’d interact with cup from time to time (but that might be just because I’m obsessed with cup lol) and Holly and Felix a little because ancient magical creature. :P
(I try not to push my OCs into main plot stuff. Bc that always feels weird to me, but sometimes i like to indulge)
His talent is Sight. He has weirdly good vision. I have a list somewhere of his capabilities but i dont really care to look for it. Main things relevant to IM is he’s able to see for long distances. X-ray, heat signatures, he can see through some magic (like glamor spells), and he can see everything in color. Thing is he doesn’t realize he shouldn’t see color so he’ll offhandedly mention how much he loves the colors of some flowers or compliments someone’s eyes and just get weird looks in return.

ok so i gave up figuring out my gender bc i have school and i don't have time for it. However.
its so fucked up to me that i can only ever relate myself to men. like there's so few female characters who i can relate myself to it's always male characters. I don't know if its due to in traditional media being a lack of well written women who aren't 100% traditionally fem, but it feels WEIRD ok!!! the only one i can kind of relate to is Bones from Bones(TV) lol. but thats also bc she's autistic and I'd rather date her instead. And in non traditional media like idk say mcrp, I love all the girls but I don't see myselt in them, it's always some freak whiteboy instead (cough etho cough)
I've felt so guilty for only ever relating to male characters (hence why all my ocs who i relate the most to are men/not women) All the women I see in media/social media, its not a "omg shes like me" moment, its more of a "I want her so bad it makes me look stupid" situation. Which makes sense since I'm a lesbian but uh. Wjere aum I
But like. I'm not a guy? I don't per say want to look like a man. Like my overall gender envy visuals come from, like, embarrassingly, fcking slimecicle, the thomas(? the blond one) guy from Maneskin, fuckin add jozels to the list and most worst of all w**bur s**t bc????. (He does make me me unbelivably angry when i look at him for too long? weird lesbian things ig). But most of them already look like lesbians. WHAT AM I. Weird girlboy freak who looks like the most average woman. But the idea that I look like a woman makes me feel ill . Kind of. If i get my medically humongous tits (still shocked the doctor told me theyre big enough to cause medical issues LOL) reducted it'll be easier to not feel like that much of a womanly woman tho lol .like i dont feel like a woman but i also dont feel like anything else .i dont confirm to the capitalist ideal and the societal idea of a woman, but if gender is a construct then i am a woman? But then me not feeling like a woman has nothing to do with my actual gender and more with societal expectations that i dont want to fill? ty both of you i am so excited to talk about him
so WAYYYYY back, before i was in the fandom, i had quite a few darker backstories and versions of jensen. those were supposed to influence my current version, but because of the fandom i have definitely fallen into the hallmark effect (aka everything is perfect besides minor inconveniences or communication issues). i mean dont get me wrong its a little more than that, but it was still a little too nice for my liking
so i am going back to my roots and actually following through w more of the detailed, fucked up things he had done when he was in college (putting it under a cut bc it may be sensitive content to some)
also im putting this into list form bc i dont want to make words sound pretty rn <3
though i had said jensen had done party drugs while he was in the band, i tried to wrap it up too pretty. though he wouldve taken a break from the parties when he had is "minor" mental breakdown after he left the band, realistically it wouldnt have been that easy to stop them altogether. he was still in chicago all throughout med school, so he still had a lot of connections to the people who provided most of the shit he got into. he only wouldve stopped in his second to last, or last year of med school
on the note of his issues after leaving the band, those wouldve been worse, too. while he never wouldve said he was suicidal, did he really want to be alive?
also, those connections made it a lot easier for him to buy people off (usually with party drugs, but sex wasnt off the table). the band took a lot of his effort, and parties took a lot of his time, and maintaining a 3.75 GPA to keep his scholarships wasnt always feasible. he had people write papers for him, had them take quizzes, etc. nothing too serious, not like admissions essays or anything, but enough that getting caught wouldnt have been good
him being emotionally unavailable through med school is definitely staying, but with a bit of an edge, too. there were a few occasions where the people he was fooling around with wanted more, and he was not afraid to set the record straight. he could be cold and apathetic about it, and pissed off plenty of people in the process
on that note, the beginning of his and bryces relationship was a little more rocky. not by much, not in a way that would change their entire trajectory, but in a way that made it harder to get out of their friends with benefits deal. bryce had his own things going on, but jensen wasnt ready for anything too mushy gushy either. he wouldve been more strict about their deal, ofc a date here and there wasnt bad, but nothing too relationship adjacent. he started to slip on that after the chemical attack (when he realized he definitely was in love had A Thing for bryce)
those are the big points!! moving to boston was one of the best things that happened to him, and definitely is what helped him to heal. it was good for him to find new people but especially a new therapist

Three random idiots were transmigrated into bodies of Konoha toddlers during the kyuubi attack. Each thinking they’re the only one who remembers a past life, they each try to hide it. Coincidentally, they are all assigned to Hatake Kakashi’s genin team since they were only average academy students and don’t have parents to complain about their children being failed via bell test, which happened with the last three teams he was assigned.
What follows is three fools trying to hide their knowledge from each other and their jounin-sensei while desperately trying to reach chunin fast enough that Kakashi can teach the actual team seven, and a jounin-sensei who is very confused by his three genin but has so few (read: zero) points of reference for normal twelve year olds raised during peacetime that he can’t tell if they’re weird or not.
fucking hilarious. i'm not usually into multi-inserts but oh my GOD these three are disasters, and kakashi is just so confused. a series of assumptions from all three PLUS kakashi convincing them all that they're Normal.

Question for Alpha: any advice for making up French names for Spy ocs? Or French names in general? Thank you!
i find it difficult to be honest- i am *horrid* at naming characters and part of why i highly dislike making OCs is having to name them. here is what guidelines i would use though, mostly common sense/quite generic-
-actors, singers and shit often have "catchy" names/pseudonyms that fare well for this purpose, + it will be easier for you to find a pronounciation for these, nicknames and so on. you however do have to check around whether it is a name at all or a made up thing for the case of scene names, and be careful about 1:1 copy pastes because if a bitch named spy jean dujardin i dont think id survive it. if you dont know any im sure shit like le festival de cannes, the wikipedia pages on french actors/singers n shit and so on will have these easy to find
-just... pick up the french calendar with the assigned saints days. the names on here are strikingly common and you wont fuck it up like that. works the same as above minus checking if its a name at all
-be weary of "french baby names" sites. as in. sites that target english speaking audiences. just drag the baby names sites that are in french instead, theyll do the work heaps better than their american counterparts. dont forget to google anything you like ! and similarly, google the pronounciation. as a french person i can guarantee you most american medias do not know what a real french accent or french pronounciation is like, they likely mix that up with quebequois but im not sure.
-i would try to cross check info between how common a name was at a given time for babies born around whenever your oc was, its meaning, its social connotations and so on, while still remaining conscious of how it is perceived nowadays. bc ill be honest with you. do i think the name jacques for example is time relevant ? yes ! do i however inevitably think of my grandfather (+90 y/o) due to how i do not know a single person of spy's age (40-50) to have such a name ? yyyyeah.
-i would pay peculiar attention to whether a name is pompous or, on the countary, known to be brutish and unrefined, given who spy is. i would be vigilant about names that grew in popularity due to americans, as those are the ones with the worst reputation by far. If the name you picked for the bitch starts with a K, i urge you to please reconsider for example because odds are you are going Right for this (for those confused : there was a surge of children named kevin and the like after the success of home alone. this... was seen as quite lacking elegance by many, as if nowadays meeting a child named naruto in a sense.)
-check if there are jokes about said names. the name marcel for example is commonly used for jokes about truck drivers/people lacking delicateness
-the more religious the name (specifically catholic) the more spy will seem upper class, stuck up and overall shitty. i cannot speak on the matter of jewish names however for i do not know the topic, but i promise you naming that bitch melchior, balthazar or gaspard absolutely would fit if you want him to be perfectly slappable in the most refined way. remember, the french are not religious !
-please do not venture down the path of composed names unless copying those exactly. you will lack the french instinct of what can be put together and what cannot. paul-clément is gonna look like you pulled out a list from google of names and decided just putting them together would work. i also would like for bitches to not name him jean-marie due to how the french brain unfortunately has been fed with enough political drama lately to immediately follow this with le pen, and i would assume that most fanfiction writers out here would rather avoid naming spy after our local trump.
-nothing replaces simply asking for a french bitch's opinion on the matter, except for perhaps asking several french bitches. this would be better, given the regional bias and the varying experiences of every of us. pretty sure my one-hour-away-from-paris ass sure dont be crossing paths with people of names similar to the ones of bourgogne where cows lay happy in the grass and actual cool food is available locally like tasty wine and cheese

👁️Malachi’s eyes are purple with a black sclera!!! Nothing special aside from them being really pretty!!!
😨With Malachi I’d say its dependent on the situation, if it’s them alone they’ll freeze for a moment but then go for fight, if it’s with someone it doesn’t care about it will opt for flight, if they’re with anyone they like or would want to protect (children always are on that list fr) they’ll go full fight mode!
💐 Moonflowers (Just here bc I associate them with it lol), Begonias (Caution), Devil’s Trumpet (name), Angel’s trumpet (name), Sweet Briar (said to be planted by the devil), Stinging nettle (It just fits in my head for some reason)
🌙The greatest wish Malachi has is for peace after the little war it started! They go through a shit ton, and along the way find people they never expected to care so deeply for and end up getting involved. So they wish both for their own goal of succeeding, but also the safety of those they care about! So needless to say as i mentioned, they chose to go to war to try and achieve that!

💥At the start of it’s story, Inexus struggles with almost all of them! Inexus’ story has a lot to do about it learning how to feel emotions and such! But later on, they would probably have trouble dealing with guilt, sadness, and how overwhelming those two and happiness can be!

im just doing all of these at once regardless of likes and i'm doing it here because i hate twitter's character limit. and i love the sound of my own voice. feel free to steal it from me if you like in fact please do
i listen to music when i write Sometimes. i try to keep it to stuff without lyrics or stuff with lyrics in a language i don't speak fluently enough for them to distract me. sometimes i do listen to music in english if i've heard the song so many times that i can kind of tune out the words but in general music with lyrics pulls the language bits in my brain in too many directions
i tell my close friends about plans for my fics and talk to them about it and sometimes let them beta sections of writing but in general i'm a no beta/loose beta kind of guy.

depends. i used to write more often in past tense but i switched to present recently and i feel like the immediacy of present makes it a lot easier for me especially where more figurative prose is concerned. i've been meaning to try past tense again just to see if it's really more difficult or if my decision to switch tenses is unrelated

i don't really think about this. if you put some cliches or tropes in front of me in a story i'd be able to identify them and say whether or not i like them but a lot of times it's contextual and i like the execution more than the trope itself. or vice versa. i like reincarnation romance conceptually but do not often like the way it's written

nice dichotomy, now what lies outside it? i guess i like both fluff and smut but i don't know that i really care for fluff vs smut as a binary. my personal definition of "fluff" encompasses any particularly tender feel-good warm fuzzy kind of fiction and that doesn't preclude sexual intimacy in the slightest. conversely i love a good bit of tender feel-good warm fuzzy smut but do not really like "fluff" in the way i tend to see it used in fandom as specifically like sexless "wholesome" feel-good slice of life stuff a la coffee shop au. nothing wrong with that but i get a little bored of it unless it's a breather in a longer work with dramatic weight personally
i love angst. i think my personal hangup is that angst has to have a point and be about something. angst for the sake of angst inevitably feels kind of cheap and shallow to me. whenever i write angst it's like to process something specific so i tend to have a lesson in mind at the end of the work
in the shower or lying awake in bed at night the same as everyone else i assume

i think most of my pet peeves are smut-related which says a lot about me. stop saying core to mean vagina. stop saying sex as a noun for genitals. i never want to see sac again. also i fucking despise orbs as a noun for eyes and i thought we'd abolished that like via geneva convention sometime in 2015 but people still use it.
scene transitions and communicating the passage of time. im still working on that
bold of my amateur ass to give advice but i think READ REAL BOOKS. is high on the list. not just fiction, either. read nonfiction, both bc it can be surprisingly engaging and poetically written and because it's good to learn facts about things. read wikipedia. recipe blogs. i dont care. read everything you possibly can that is not fanfiction. and when you are watching tv and movies pick apart every narrative you encounter to see how it works. you will be a better writer for it i promise

Ward can sit still for like.. five or ten minutes unless he's super focused on his work, and half the time he works standing anyway (in which case thats.. not nothing to do so
Cooper can sit still for a decent while! He used to pride himself on sitting so quietly people forgot he was there when they were younger and he's not very successful in breaking that habit. probably around the 20-30 minute mark
Rory can definitely sit still for a long time, and usually cherishes the chance to because he's so busy on the farm. WILL probably fall asleep though! Sometimes just zones out, especially after a long day or if hanging out with farm babies
7: What triggers nostalgia for them, most often? Do they enjoy that feeling?
Ward: listening to rain on umbrellas and weather reports specifically for his hometown! Also, kids science cartoons. Yeah, he likes the feeling of nostalgia, though mostly when he's not regressed (when he's little, he's too active to sit and appreciate nostalgia lol)
Cooper: Books about ducklings + rubber duckies, gumballs (esp the like 25 cent ones), and sleeping bags! They don't dislike the feeling of nostalgia, but they can only take so much before it starts bringing him down
Rory: Juice boxes! Fruit salad skewers, and blowing on dandelions. Not too bothered either way about nostalgia, honestly
8: What were they told to stop/start doing most often as a child
Ward: START READING. if it wasnt a science related book, ward could not care less about it. genuinely, English classes were a misery for all parties involved! Stop going outside without a raincoat, and dang it, stop going outside in the middle of huge storms!
Cooper: Would get told he needed to start speaking up for himself if he wanted things, and then would get told to stop being so demanding :/ "You need to start letting your siblings play with you!" "If you dont want them to touch your things, you need to stop leaving them out" <- older sibling never wins moments
Rory: Please stop falling asleep in the sheep pen, we cannot find you. PLEASE. (POV: you are capri and you cant find your regressor in the sheep herd and the sheep totally know and wont help you)

Ward: Does not even bother, honestly. Basic memorization and simple frequency of usage is enough for him! ( but he's the kind of person to ask why you have color coded folders). Otherwise his work organization is entirely just.. related to the topic lol. Weather science - Non-weather science, but no fancy tricks!
Cooper: Is the sort of person to mumble "Righty tighty, left loosey" under their breath! More likely to use anagrams, prefers things reasonably color coded (red engineering/security, blue science/medical, gold command). is the type to get stressed by trying to create ways to remember that are too specific, so they end up getting stress
Rory: Color coding, usually! Nothing super complex, he doesnt have a lot he really needs to specifically remember

UMMM this is so broad so we arent entirely sure how to answer but! broadly we consider ourselves a past life(?) kin, though honestly dont claim to know how the universe works well enough to pin that down.
we have memories for a Good Deal of our kins and nowadays wont actually list kins when we Dont have memories bc the list is so so so so long now
UMMM mollymauk was the big one for like. years. our oc kins are weird and identity is strange but tend to be very important to us as well
AND the most recent very important kin that has like impacted the personality to an insane degree is adolin of stormlight archive fame ^^
^ especially gay for kaladin and the bond with maya (my sword) (longish story) is so so so so so important. we got to the point where As Adolin or in the shift or what ever u wanna call it we were writing like. canonical poetry (keteks. also very important lmk if u wanna know more its a fave) and like.
its just all very important and we don't feel like we have a "base identity" like its just the various facets and then a collection of kins
