The Complete Fiction of HP Lovecraft rated by me, someone who read them all* but has a terrible memory
The Beast in The Cave: uh a guy goes on a cave tour and finds a creature that was like a human that got lost and adapted to its surroundings. 0/10 just because im pretty sure there was another one with this exact premise and neither of them were memorable at all.
The Alchemist: dude achieves immortality and lives in the narrators basement and has pledged to murder his entire lineage or something. 4/10 the alchemy stuff was actually kind of interesting
The Tomb: im pretty sure this is the one where a guy starts hanging out in a tomb and like travels back in time/becomes one of his ancestors? 5/10 if its the one im thinking of i did enjoy reading it
Dagon: guy lands on a mysterious island with signs of a long dead civilization. 1/10 i do not remember what happened in it
A Reminiscence of Dr. Samuel Johnson: 0/10 i have no memory of this
Polaris: also 0/10 i forgot all about it
Beyond the Wall of Sleep: could be any of the dream focused ones. if its the one about the dude sailing into the void or whatever than 4/10 not too bad
Memory: ironically, i dont remember it. 0/10
Old Bugs: 1/10 for the title god i wish i remembered this one
The Transition of Juan Romero: i got nothing. 0/10
The White Ship: this might also be the one about the dude sailing into the void? i liked that one he lived in a lighthouse and boarded a dream ship and just fucking left it was fun. 4/10
The Street: uh i think really steep street that didnt actually exist. 3/10
The Doom that Came to Sarnath: i wanna say another one of the dream centered ones where a town discovers some old relics and blatantly disrespects them and gets exactly whats coming to it. 5/10 they deserved what they got
The Statement of Randolph Carter: ok this dude shows up several times. i think this one is about how he returns to his childhood home then travels back in time and creates a time loop paradox thing. 1/10 meh
The Terrible Old Man: uh some thieves harrass a weird old guy and get got. 5/10
The Cats of Ulthar: someone is mean to a cat in a dream city, all of the rest of the cats get revenge and are revered for the rest of time. 2/10 (-3 because lovecraft has a specific name he gives to apparently every fictional and real cat he encounters and wow i wish he hadn't)
The Tree: i feel like this is something to do with a person becoming a tree but i cant actually remember. 0/10
Celephais: yeah no i got nothing 0/10
The Picture in the House: also nothing 0/10
The Temple: nope 0/10
Facts Concerning the Late Arthur Jermyn and his Family: is this the one where the dude's great grandfather married an ape? i dont think so but im not sure. 0/10, -5/10 if it is that one cause that one was especially shitty
From Beyond: nope 0/10
Nyarlathotep: charismatic dude shows up and is like get in bitches we're going to the void. i love nyarlathotep cause hes the one who directly interacts with humanity and like wears a human suit or whatever so hes just some dude whos like hey im gonna feed you to azathoth 5/0
The Quest of Iranon: got nothing 0/10
The Music of Erich Zann: narrator makes friends with an old musician whos being hunted by supernatural forces. 2/10 because i remember it but it was just ok
Ex Oblivione: 1/10 for the title but i have no clue what it was about
Sweet Ermengarde: lovecraft's sole attempt at comedy. not to my taste like at all 0/10
The Nameless city: nope 0/10
The Outsider: also nope 0/10
The Moon-Bog: sounds cool, dont remember it. 0/10
The Other Gods: dude tries to find the gods of humanity where they live on a big mountain, actually finds them, is immediately smited by the Other Gods who protect the gods of humanity. 3/10 he deserved it
Azathoth: dont recall, 0/10
Herbert West- Reanimator: Arkham man Herbert West and his assistant ressurect the dead with little thought to the consequences, then get murdered by a band of said resurrected dead. 5/10
Hypnos: nope 0/10
What the Moon Brings: also nope 0/10
The Hound: still nope 0/10
The Lurking Fear: again, nope 0/10
The Rats in the Walls: dude returns to his ancestral home, hears rats, excavates the basement and finds out that his ancestors ate human flesh, eats his friend. 1/10 it was an interesting read but can lovecraft please stop calling cats that.
The Unnameable: no clue 0/10
The Festival: nope 0/10
*Under the Pyramids: ok im pretty sure this is the one with houdini which is the only one i could not read. i went into this mentally prepared for lovecraft's bigotry but i was not mentally prepared for him dropping harry houdini, avid skeptic who absolutely would have beat the shit out of him for this, into the middle of his super racist paranormal horror. -1000/10
The Shunned House: nope 0/10
The Horror at Red Hook: also nope 0/10
He: cool title, no memory of the story. 0/10
In the Vault: wow im bad at this. 0/10
Cool Air: still no 0/10
The Call of Cthulhu: kind of all over the place, there was a thing about artists and then a thing about a cop investigating a cult. 3/10 meh but ill give it a bonus for being a staple of horror fiction.
Pickman's Model: uh artist sees some wild shit and draws it and then it eats him. 2/10 i forget the details
The Strange High House in the Mist: if this is the one im thinking of, dude does a dangerous climb to find a mysterious house and meet the inhabitant who is kind of interdimensional and also being hunted by interdimensional things. also maybe the house eats people? 2/10
The Silver Key: another Randolph Carter one, and i think this is actually the one about him travelling back in time so idk what the other one was. 3/10
The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath: randolph carter goes on a quest in the dream world to find the gods of humanity and ask why they wont let him check out this cool city he can see from his window. lots of action and very wordy and went a lot of different places. 4/10 good read but extremely xenophobic
The Case of Charles Dexter Ward: guy investigates his ancestor who looks disturbingly like him, ancestor comes back to life and kills him and takes his place and a bunch of other stuff happens. mostly a dramatized genealogical study. 3/10 not bad, very suspenseful
The Colour Out Of Space: meteor lands on a farm, scientists get weirded out by it, everything in the area gets weird then dead, alien thing gets enough power from draining nearby life-forms to escape earth. fun twist ending. 4/10 bonus for being one of the better ones, detraction for writing out a 'rural accent'
The Descendant: nope, 0/10
The Very Old Folk: nope again, 0/10
History of the Necronomicon: very dry. fake history of lovecraft's fake book thats super important to a lot of the stories. 0/10
The Dunwich Horror: isolated witchy family has a kid who no one likes that grows up real fast. graphic descriptions of renovation. a horror gets unleashed on the area and the local folklore scholars have to deal with it. 1/10 nothing good enough to counter the xenophobia
Ibid: i remember this one. no idea what it's deal was. pseudo-bibliography? it was weird. 0/10
The Whisperer in Darkness: guy has a correspondance with another guy about local folk legends based on evil crab things. other guy gets straight up replaced by an evil crab thing and first guy doesnt even notice. imagine if you followed up on a scam email and didnt realize anything was up until you saw that the face of the dude you were talking to in person was a mask. 4/10 for the comedy this guy would not last in the internet age at all
At The Mountains of Madness: guy whines about penguins and how awful it would be if there were civilizations that predated humanity. also commits grave desecration. i get hit by the realization that if lovecraft was less of a racist coward he wouldve made a great speculative sci fi author. 3/10 i would love to watch that old asshole get absolutely torn to shreds by the monster fucker community
The Shadow over Innsmouth: Fish People! Leave Them Alone! Or Else! 5/10 the protagonist gets to live the dream by escaping human society and becoming an immortal fish person
The Dreams in the Witch House: dude rents an objectively haunted room, doesnt listen to people trying to help him, gets murdered by a weird rat. later they find a shit ton of bones in the attic. 2/10 meh
Through The Gates of the Silver Key: Randolph Carter transcends time and space, then de-transcends time and space and immediately gets stuck on another planet in the distant past, makes a long and difficult journey back to earth to find that his estate is being divided amongst his heirs. the comedy potential of a man stuck in an alien body dealing with a legal system that has declared him dead is not examined. 2/10
The Thing on the Doorstep: narrator's good friend marries a fish person witch who steals his body. thats basically it. 3/10. at this point im like wow these narrators really refuse to believe the heavily foreshadowed supernatural explanations that turn out to be correct huh.
The Evil Clergyman: dude is in a room. some ghosts (?) show up. dude has a UV light for some reason. Gets his face stolen i guess and just has to live with it. 5/10 for being absolutely buck wild and refusing to explain anything
The Book: nope 0/10
The Shadow Out Of Time: dude gets his body stolen by ancient scholar species. agonizes about it for a while. finds archaeological evidence of said species. finds a book he wrote while living with said species. almost gets eaten by something. 3/10 more cool speculative sci fi but lame protagonist
The Haunter of the Dark: you'd think id remember it bc this was the last one and i read it last night. oh wait, nvm i do remember it. dude finds an old box in a run down culty church and unleashes a horror that then comes and fucks him up. 1/10 meh.

Across time | Akaashi Keiji x F!reader [soulmate!AU]
for this one i tried a little bit of world building to put more context into some stuff as i suck at accurate and realistic historical aeras, this ended up being WAY longer than planned oof also YES i 100% took the well idea from Inuyasha👉🏽👈🏽
- Moeru Fukuro means blazing owl
- au where the reader finds themselves enamored far beyond the limits of alternate timeline and universes
[Tags] : @raevaioli @chenle @lcaita and @lceiji
Tumblr media
- it was all because of a stupid dare
- it's a shame you agreed to do anything when more than 50$ were on the line (O.O)
- your friends from high school thought it seemed like SUCH  a good idea to dare you to spend 3 hours in the woods next to your house in exchange for 60$
- the 3 hours of course starting from midnight
- but you weren't one to back down from that kind of stuff
- no sir
- the only thing you had to do was to wait by the abandoned well surrounded by trees without anything to distract you (you trusted them with your phone anyway)
- tonight wasn't even that cold anyway
-so here you were, waiting for time to pass as you listened to the sounds around you
- you found it absolutly mesmerizing, how everything around you had its own identity through the sounds made
- you had always felt calmer in moments like these, by yourself at nighttime, just taking everything in
- you had been to this well many times before, the old lady who lived accross from your appartment told you that it was used as  a wishing well most of the time
- she spoke of how many people through the times had thrown coins into the unsettling darkness of the pit and wished for true love and stuff like that
- the other day, you had found her there and she told you about how that very same well helped her meet her soulmate
- you hardly believed her
- the wishing part ? Okay. It's a normal thing to throw coins into fountains and wells and pray for things. But soulmates ? That seemed like a reach
- so you felt pretty dumb for staring into the dark pit of most likely freezing water as intensely
- you also felt pretty dumb for making sure that you brought a coin with you on this outting
- okay maybe......the idea of finding your soulmate was not so repulsive.... (◡‿◡✿)
- you didn't hope it would work too hard but still.....just sayin that it would be nice
- so, you threw the coin, listening to its sound as it came in contact with the water at the bottom after a long fall and you started praying
- "i don't really know how this is supposed to be done but....if the stories are true can i please meet the love of my life ? If not possible i also accept checks and cash (▰˘◡˘▰)"
- you didn't really mean the money part
- but you know.....getting rich isn't that bad
- at that moment you felt smart for bringing a hoodie because ???? The wind was extremely strong all of a sudden like ?? Sheesh
- you were about to sit down and cuddle into your hoodie for warmth but then u SWORE U HEARD A VOICE COMING FROM THE WELL
- and you aint crazy but you're about dumb enough to lean your head above the opening to hear better
- i think you know where this is going....
- the wind's strength had you tumbling down the well in no time
- time seemed to slow down as you plummeted toward the surface of the water
- soon you came in contact with it, cold soaking your clothes and hurting all the way to your bones. You could see the moon thru the suprisingly clear water as well as the bubbles from your last reserve of air, all this caused you to pass out.
- in the capital of the kingdom MoeruFukuro, they were many things ; from kind townfolks, to golden rice paddies and from a gorgeous royal castle to roaming forest demons
- you heard me right
- the lands around were infested by demons and spirited who manifested at night, some benevolant and others not so much
- thankfully for the royal priest Tsukishima's magical talismans placed all around the town, the people could leave in peace, the malignant creatures knowing better than trying to overcome the spells
- the capital could pride itself all around the country for having ones of the most powerful and smart array of people there ever were in addition to being prosperous from the folks' trade businesses
- for example, in the royal palace, you could find as forementionned priest and mage; Tsukishima Kei, legend has it that he was blessed by Kaguya, the goddess of the moon herself in order to have such knowledge of spells
- there was also General Kuroo Tetsurou, who had his fair share of tales and admirers alike, the biggest one being the one in which he had saved a thousand men from a demon by sacrificing himself, earning its respect and protection in battle
- obviously there was the crowned prince, Bokuto Koutaro. Well he might seem a little air headed and childish at first sight but he takes his duties very seriously even if they consist in little things such as gathering the peoples' eventual complaints himself, some people going as far as saying that he is the closest thing to a god on earth
- and then, wherever Bokuto went, it would be near impossible to forget about his right arm and advisor, the wise and renowned astronomer Akaashi Keiji. If Tsukishima had been blessed by the moon goddess then many people believed that Akaashi was the one who tought Omoikane, god of wisdom and intelligence himself, everything he knew. He was everything people wished they were, calm, good looking, creative, reasonable and intelligent beyond mesure. No wonder he was the one Bokuto trusted the most by his side
- studying the sky also brought Akaashi much knowledge on seasons and the movements of stars and such, providing help to both the people and Tsukishima
- Akaashi did not live in the castle however, well technically yes but he did have a workshop of his own a bit farther in the territory, where he could dedicate himself to staring at the night sky he loved so very very much from his makeshift observatory/rooftop
- he also had a lovely well near his observation tower that Tsukishima had passive agressively insisted on cleansing for him (>.<)
- so there he was, in this particularly enchanting night
- something about that full moon, shining stars and clear sky just about almost got some tears out of him
- but he was interrupted when he heard a low growl from beneath his observation tower
- naturally he looked down to where it came from and saw a fire fox spirit inching suspiciously close to an unconscious girl on the ground near the well
- the demons avoided the talismans yes but that far from the heart of the city trickster spirits and ghouls could just about do as much chaos as they pleased
- rushing to get down, Akaashi took his bow and arrows ready to get rid of the spirit and make sure the girl, no matter how strange her clothes looked like, was safe
- it was fast work, his arrows reaped through the night air seemingly at lighting speed and quickly made the spirit disappear
- muttering a small banishing prayer he picked up the passed out girl and brought her on top of his observatory
- she was dry but she was still shivering from the cold
- "she must not be used to the cold" thought the young astronomer, taking off his haori to put on top of her frame and sitting down next to her, looking downwards at her now relaxed features
- he did not know why he brought her up there but right now it just felt right. So he went on with looking at the sky, resting his hands flat on the ground near his sides
- you were awake, enough to feel a warmth next to you but not enough to open your eyes yet
- you thought that you'd fallen asleep after making the wish and that your friends had carried you back to your room or something
- but it was to cold to be true
- you peaked slightly from between your lashes and were met with a GORGEOUS night sky
- usually in your city, the sky was too polluted to be able to see that many
- and the full moon seemed closer than usual, bewitching, enchanting, almost asking you to come to her, so in a way you did
- now fully awake, you outstretched your hand toward the celestial body, not really thinking in the moment
- "you're awake ! How are you feeling ?" said a silvery soft voice, almost similar to a whisper
- so similar you thought that you were still dreaming as it was the same one you've heard before imagining falling into the well
- your train of thought was quickly cut short by the feeling of warm hands around your own outstreched one
- oh this was definitly real
- you sat up im a swift movement, looking around you and only seeing trees and rice paddies, as well as the lights of a town in the distance
- you almost didn't hear the man's voice over your own rapidly beating heart
- almost
- "Everything's okay now, calm down" he said, probably noticing your panic and rubbing his thumb over your knuckles
- his words seemed to immediatly sink into your very soul at the second they came out of his mouth, and worst is that you thought that if it meant to be marked in such a way you would be glad to have your soul inked all over with just his words
- but you still didn't know him so you kept that thought to yourself
- "who are you and where am i ?" Your voice was so shaky and your mind so foggy that you weren't even sure if they ever made it out of your throat
- but Akaashi heard you loud and clearer than anything before, just touching your hand had seemed like such a common task but the needle like sensation that ran up his whole arm begged to differ, he regained his composure fast though
- "my name's Akaashi Keiji and you're in the kingdom of MoeruFukuro" he made sure to speak as softly as possible, never letting go of your hand, fearing that maybe, if he let go you would disappear back into the wind
- ".....my name's Y/N L/N....listen i don't think im supposed to be here- well more like...now"
- "what do you mean ?"
- and so you explained to him how you actually came from the 21st century in what you could only assume to be another timeline and universe, trying to sound as calm as possible
- because well, you weren't dumb, and castle as "cool and fantasy anime looking like that" were not so common
- Akaashi kept drinking in your voice, painfully aware of every movement of your face, every little speaking quirk and tones, never breaking contact
- he was fast in reassuring you on his own world, he spoke of his life, of his friends and of the castle, not leaving out the fact that demons and spirits were a common factor, carefully choosing his phrasing and explaining with the most concise words
- explaining so well that you felt as if you already knew all these things, deep in yourself
- and time passed
- you soon found yourself laying on you back, fingers still intertwined with the royal astronomer, talking about your lives, as if you were desperatly but as easily as breathing trying to make the other remember your existence, trying to get a part of your souls back
- the silence of the night made your voices reach the other in an almost pieircing melody, the deep blue and silver sky as your only witness of this moment
- "so you're an astronomer right.....why do you like the stars so much Keiji ?"
- oh man did he love hearing you say his name, it sounded like the rarest music he's ever heard coming from you
- "i guess it just comes easily to me....i've never felt lonely in the castle, my friends are supportive and strong even though i've never been particularly good with people....when i come here for reasons other than work and stare at the sky, it feels like im finally walking in my own feelings, finally able to search for something that i somehow always wanted..."
- he turned to your face and swore that he saw many more stars in your eyes than he has in his whole life and continued on
- " it feels- it felt like trying to find a part myself that had been fragmented and thrown into the universe....a part of myself that was very much more human than i thought"
- "oh" was all you could muster between that and the flood of feelings that was inside your heart
- you felt like you were running out of time.
- you felt like you had to make the most out of this precise instant.
- you suddenly jerked up, making Akaashi jump at the sudden move
- he sat up with you, facing you, unsure of what  that was all about
- " Keiji !" You said, full of determination despite the advanced hour of the night, and when he nodded and smiled, humming slightly as response you took it as your greenlight to continue
- " Let's find each other again ! Whether it be in this life or another ! We're bounded together now and im sure whichever gods brought me to you will make it happen again no matter what. So you have to promise me before it's too late....don't forget about me !"
- Akaashi's eyes bore into yours with as much intensity as yours and returning the smile you wore on your face
- he let go off your hand for the first time that night and you felt as if an invisible countdown just started somewhere
- he took of a teal and marine blue colored thread bracelet that he wore and put in on your wrist, it had a small crescent moon symbol made of nacre on it....how in character
- how....him
- "there. That way i won't ever forget you. I sure hope you don't forget about me either"
- the last thing your remembered was the gorgeous yet so undoubtfully sad smile of the astronomer before waking up, warm, in your own bed
- you looked around in a hurry and little did you know, you were back into your appartment's bedroom
- you figured it was just a dream
- and yet your heart was still beating against your ribcage and tears were stinging your eyes
- you looked at your phone to check the time since the sun had already went up and your eyes fell on the bracelet you were wearing on your wrist
- you wasted no time in DASHING out of your appartment straight to the old lady's, well too aware that what had happened last night was definitely not a dream
- as you rung the doorbell you were too busy trying to calm your heart that was still trying to beat out of your chest to hear an all too familiar voice from inside the appartment saying "i'll take this"
- the door opened and you almost fainted
- "hi ! Im Akaashi Keiji your new neighbor from next door.....have we met before ?"

The Longest Path
Hello everyone! i really wanted to write this silly story that i have on my mind since a little while, they will be many chapters tbh.
If you like it feel free to tell me :)
Keep reading the story here
Jack pov
RING RING
That was the first sound that i heard in the morning, not really a pleasant one, so my first reaction was to open my eyes and pick up the annoying source of sound, when i saw who was calling me i answered a little surprised
-Hello Felix?-
-Hi Jack, how are you? im sorry did i woke you up?- Felix replied with a little worried voice
-Nah don’t worry, i had to get up anyways, what’s up?- I said sitting on my bed
-Look, i wanted to ask you a favor, is a personal one, my little cousin Charlie is going to Ireland to take a gap year, Charlie is very shy and quiet, i wanted to make sure that when she arrives she could have a kind of familiar face around for a while-
As i listen to Felix talk a couple of question pop up in my mind
-I mean sure i can show Charlie around and take care of her while she gets used to the city, but why didn’t Charlie come with you? i am very sure it would be more confortable-
-That was the first option believe me, but me and Marzia are still finishing moving and i want Charlie to be in a place more stable, at the end it was Charlie’s choice and well… Ireland was the right place-
-I understand- i said a little thoughtful
-Look Jack, i really don’t want to make you unconfortable, i only ask you this because Charlie is very special for me and i don’t know anyone else in Ireland- Felix started to say
-No no is not that…-
Felix interrupted me saying -Charlie is a very calm person, and very mature, she doesn’t make a lot of noise and honestly, i think you two would get along-
-Damn Felix it sounds like you are talking about a dog, not your cousin- i chuckle a little
-Yes yes, hahah, i get it, it is just i am a little nervous, i don’t want to put you a big weight on your shoulders, and i know that looking up for someone is a big responsability, i don’t want to cause you troubles- Felix said
-Is no problem man, look, i really appreciate your friendship, and i know that if Charlie is like you, she is a terrific person that i would love to meet and help- i said
-Really? Jack thank you so much i really owe you one- said Felix with a happy tone
-There is no problem dude, when is Charlie arriving?- i said with a curious tone
-Well… Charlie arrives in twelve hours- Felix said a little shy
-What??? and where is Charlie staying? does she have someone to pick her up from the airport- I said a little shooked
-Actually… i was going to ask you if you could pick her up- Felix said
-Okay…and? i have a feeling that that is not the only thing you were going to tell me- i said getting up from the bed and going to the bathroom
-Yeah well, Charlie  made that decision very quickly and without thinking much thought, she also doesn’t have a place to stay for the first night, and now that you said yes to take care of her…- Felix said
-Fine, she can stay for the night at my house, but tomorrow Charlie and i are going to look up for some rooms to rent-
-Thank you Jack, I don’t have enough words to thank you really- said Felix very relieved
-One last thing, why did she made the decision of coming here so fast?- i asked
-Charlie wasn’t really happy at the place where she lived, one night she called crying and told me all the problems she was having, i only suggested her to take a year off, she stayed quiet for a few seconds and hang up the phone, the next thing she said is that she wanted to spend a year far away from her home and asked me if she could stay with me, i had to say no and explain her why, she hang up again and called me 2 days ago saying she was going to Ireland, because i quote “I saw they have some good legends, and i love legends”- Felix said laughing a little
-Hahaha well, she sounds very spontaneous- i said smiling
-She is the best Jack, i will text you the information of her flight, thank you so much again Jack, if you need anything, money, advice, just call me please- Said Felix
-Is okay dude for real, i will text you if i need anything, goodbye- i said
-Goodbye Jack- hang up Felix
I  left my phone in a corner of the sink and i washed my face and my teeth, well, that was a way to get up.

Drama/Slight Horror
Lost in the Dream Mini Series
A/N: I’m so glad everyone has been liking my Lost in the Dream series! Sorry it took so long to post the next part. I was so excited about it in the beginning and thought it was going to be one of my best, but I feel like I really fucked up the ending... Oh well...Here’s Minhyuk’s! ~Yosei
Disclaimer: This story is pure fiction. Any portrayal of the Members of Monsta X to be anything but amazing and kind is fiction and only used for this story.
“Y/N...”
You turn your head to the side, reacting to the voice speaking your name. But no matter which direction you turn, there’s nothing but blackness all around you.
“Y/N...”
There it is again, the sweet sounding voice of a man calling out your name. Just then, you see a figure in the distance. His white hair and porcelain skin contrasts the surrounding darkness. His gorgeous eyes meet yours.
“Come to me, Y/N. It’s time...”
He reaches out his hand, waiting for you to take it into yours. Like your hand has a mind of it’s own, you reluctantly reach for the boy’s hand, entranced by his commanding presence. Like in slow motion, your hand is just barely touching his...
BRIIIING BRIIIING BRIIIING!
Immediately, you jolt awake and slam your hand down on your alarm. Your entire body was drenched in sweat and your breathing erratic.
‘That nightmare. Was that-?’
You shake your head, clearing your thoughts. ‘No, it couldn’t be.’
You casually glance over at the clock and squeal, scrambling out of bed. It already read 7:00am and school started in an hour. You take the quickest show of your life and throw on a pair of skinny jeans and a t-shirt. You throw your hair in two pig tails and grab your backpack, heading out the door.
You make it to the school building with 10 minutes to spare. You sigh with relief and head to your first class. Walking in, you see your two friends, Sana and Youngjae sitt in the back corner. They notice you and wave you over, smiling. You forced a small smile on your face, but your mind can’t stop wondering about that dream you had.
“Hey, Y/N. What’s up?,” Youngjae smiles sweetly at you.
Sana tilts her head in concern at your grunt of a response. “Hey, Y/N. Is everything alright?”
You swallow the lump in your throat and shake your head. Leaning closer to the two, your next sentence comes out in a whisper. “I-I think I got... The Call.”
Sana gasps lightly, a hand to her mouth. “No! Are you serious? You have to tell someone! The teacher or the police or someone!”
Youngjae rolls his eyes. “There’s no such thing as The Call, you two. I don’t know why all you girls are so obsessed with this myth.”
Sana shoots him a glare, “it’s not just a myth! There have been girls that have gone missing before and it was proven to be by ‘Them’! And now, it’s this regions turn!”
The ‘Them’ Sana mentioned; Sorcerers. For years, there’s a legend to your country. Your country is divided up into 7 different regions. There’s rumoured to be one powerful Sorcerer that lives in each region. When each Sorcerer turns 25, they come to an individual in a dream, usually female. In each dream, the person is offered their hand. If said person touches the hand of the Sorcerer, you will forever belong to them, bound in not only wedlock, but bound in a very powerful magic. They call this dream, ‘The Call’. If you get The Call, the Sorcerer will not stop until you become theirs. But the catch; They can only summon you from a dream.
There are 7 Sorcerers, one for each region. Hyunwoo, Hoseok, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, Jooheon and Changkyun. So far, two girls from different regions have gone missing. Those regions are rumored to belong to Hyunwoo and Hoseok. Now, it seems like Minhyuk, your region’s Sorcerer, is on the look out.
And he’s chosen you.
Your anxiety rises imagining yourself being taken by this mysterious and possibly dangerous man. “W-What do I do? I don’t want to be taken away!” You hiss, voice laced with fear.
Sana grabs your hand and squeezes it tight. “Don’t worry, Y/N. You still have a chance. All you have to do is ignore his advancements in the dreams and you’ll be fine! He can’t take you in real life unless you touch him in the dream!”
“It’s not as easy as you might think,” You mumble as you hear the door to the classroom open. The three of you turn your attention to the front.
Your literature teacher begins to talk about the book that was assigned to your class to read, Animal Farm by George Orwell. As much as you tried to pay attention, the only think you had on your mind was Minhyuk.
“Y/N,” Your head snaps up when Mr. Park called your attention. “What are the principal recurring elements in Mr. Orwell’s work?”
You clear your throat, trying to come up with an answer. Thankfully, you actually read the book and are able to come up with something quick.
“W-well, there are several themes in Animal Farm. Some of those include; Leadership and corruption, control of naïve working class, lies and deception, and dreams and hopes.” You glance up to the teacher to make sure you were on the right track. He nods and motions for you to elaborate. “The main themes in Animal Farm leadership and corruption. Animal Farm portrays the history of the Russian Revolution by retelling the development of communism.”
You wait for the teacher to take the lead and continue on with a different person but that never came. You look up at the teacher and notice he’s...completely frozen?! You look around the room and notice every single one of your classmates was frozen in time.
You stand up slowly and cautiously walk up to Mr. Park and wave a hand in front of his face. Nothing. Then, you take to poking his arm and immediately pull your hand back. It was nothing but ice cold.
“What the fu-”
“Y/N.”
You freeze at the mention of your name. You recognize that voice and it sent shivers up your spine. Slowly, you turn your head towards the voice and come face to face with the last person you ever wanted to see.
The Sorcerer, Minhyuk.
You immediately stumble back, away from the man who haunted your dreams. He was adorned with a pitch black, low cut V-neck shirt. His gorgeous face painted with what looks like to be some kind of face paint. “W-What are you d-doing here?! W-What do you want?! What did you do to them?!”
He slowly takes one step forward, sending you to take three steps back. He chuckles and glances you up and down, a small smirk gracing his features.
“Why, I came for you, my Little Dove.”
You shake your head wildly, “n-no, you can’t take me. This isn’t a dream state! You have no power over me right now!”
Minhyuk suddenly appears right in front of you, making you stumble back into the windows on the classroom. He leans forward so his lips are grazing your ear, hands deep into his pockets.
“And what makes you think I can’t just take you with me right here, right now? I real life?”
You swallow the lump in your throat, your body trembling from the proximity of your two bodies to each other.
“B-Because that’s what t-the myth says. Y-You only can take someone in a dream state and they have to physically touch you.”
Minhyuk chuckles and retreats back to his original place. You quietly sigh with relief from his moving away. He runs a pale hand through his white locks.
“Well, you are correct, my Little Dove. No, I can’t take you right here and now. But I will come to you again, next time in your dream.”
You look down for a split second at your shaking hands, “but why me?” When you look back up, the man standing in front of you is gone.
“Um, Y/N? Why are you standing? Are you alright?” Your teacher, suddenly unfrozen, stares at you in question. You look around the room to see all of the students, also unfrozen, are following suit.
All of this hit you at once. Your anxiety starts to flare up and you need to get out of there. Now.
You grab your backpack and books from your desk, “I-I’m sorry, I have to go.” And without a glance back, you race out the classroom door.
You run as fast as you can out the door of that school. Nothing, not even a car almost killing you, can stop you from getting home. As soon as you make it to your apartment, you slam and lock the door behind you. You collapse to the ground, breathing heavy and trying to pass your anxiety attack.
For the next several hours, you do everything in your power to stay awake. Drink coffee, play video games, run on your treadmill, anything.
‘Don’t fall asleep, Y/N. Don’t fall asleep.’
Try as you might, there’s no stopping the power of anxiety and exhaustion. The next thing you know, you drift off into a dream state.
Suddenly, you’re back in that dark room. But there’s something different about this room. This time, you didn’t land here alone.
You see the white haired Sorcerer standing across from you, wearing the same set of clothes he did in the classroom. He once again reaches out his hand towards you.
“Y/N, come to me.”
You shake your head and take a step back into the darkness. Minhyuk takes a step forward, looking directly into your eyes.
“My Little Dove, you belong with me. You always have.”
You stare into his enchanting eyes. Something about his gaze pulls you in. Instead of taking a step back like you wanted, your feet pull you forward. Right to him.
“But you don’t even know me.”
The gorgeous boy raises a brow, “you’re name is Y/N L/N, born September 3rd 1993, you’re 25 year’s old and born in the hometown of (City). You moved here when you were just a baby. You have two best friends, Sana and Youngjae. Need I go on?”
You shake your head, in awe at all the information that he possibly couldn’t have known. The enchantment from his stare is growing stronger, your body beginning to feel weak.
“B-but, why me?”
Minhyuk chuckles and tilts his head. “Well, my dear, a long time ago, before you were born, your parents were having some trouble conceiving children. One night, they venture out into the woods, hearing of this medicine man that supposedly can help with these kinds of things. Turns out, that man was my father.” Minhyuk pauses to gauge your reaction but you’re too far gone into his gaze to react outwardly. He continues. “He told them that he would happily give them a child to bare, but in exchange, if that child were a female, they would have to give her to one of his sons when it was time. It just so happened that you were born on the same day, of the same year, at the same time as I was. So, out of my 6 brothers, I was destined to be the one to have you. We each have to take a bride once we turn 25. However, your and my arraignment is slightly different. You were always destined to be mine.”
You would be in a complete state of shock if you weren’t so mesmerized by this man right in front of you. You wanted to scream and cry, to say it was not true. But you couldn't move. Something was pulling you toward him, something was saying this was right.
He holds out his hand one last time, a smirk gracing his lips. “Come to me, Y/N. I know we belong together, I know you feel it to. Take my hand, Y/N.”
The last of your self control leave your body as you gently place your hand into his. Almost like an immediate reaction, you feel yourself change. You look down to see you are now adorned with a black almost wedding type dress. You look back up into the face of the man that now has you and you see a genuine smile.
“You now belong to me, Y/N. We are forever bound together in this dream and in the realms of reality. When you wake up, you will know where to find me and you will immediately come to me. Do not tell anyone where you will be going,” he kisses your forehead and releases your hand. “I will see you very soon, my Little Dove.”
“It’s been over a year since Ms. Y/N L/N has gone missing. If you have any information on the whereabouts of Ms. L/N, please call your local police department.”

Merafong’s PSL Hopes looking Favourable in the hands of “General” Papi Dikeledi’s Hands
By: Morena Rex Maboe
Despite the resilient Soccer culture that has existed in Carletonville, and this is inclusive of Khutsong, Fochville and wedela, only a handful of players; if we can even get to 5, have made it to mainstream soccer leagues. This is not without giving credit to the Merafong City Local football Association’s efforts to continually keep the sport alive through their annual leagues, under the stewardship of development Officer Mr. Letlhogonolo Kgarejane, they have produced a number of talent including the one on the spotlight today. A certain Monghezi Bobe’s name might spring up in the conversation about players from the Ville that went pro. The Carletonville-born soccer legend started his professional career at the then North West based Platinum stars in July 2003, spent a good share of his career jumping between Free State Stars and Black Leopards respectively, among other teams he played for. He retired at Black Leopards and managed their reserve side, in midyear 2020 following the departure of head coach Alan Clark, Bobe was named as caretaker coach with colleague Morgan Shivambu, and were instrumental in Leopards surviving relegation last season.
Another maestro worth seeing is coming up in the ranks of the football fraternity, proving to be a force to be reckoned with, definitely if soccer was a person it would be this Khutsong star, from the dusty streets to the flaming roar of people in stadiums crying over his magnificent skill and showboating. If you have not seen him play allow me to say you have not sat at the front row of sports entertainment, you have not witnessed a grabbling genius. I gave him 8 questions to answer for us, letting us into his journey and providing inspiration to other aspiring talent.
1. Name and surname, nicknames
PAPI DIKELEDI (GENERAL, KOP)
2. Short history of where you were born, schools attended where you lived and grew up
I WAS BORN IN KHUTSONG CARLETONVILLE ON THE 31ST OF JAN 2002, ATTENDED MY PRE-SCHOOL AT BABELEGI PRE SCHOOL THEN WENT ON TO DO MY PRIMARY YEARS AT PHORORONG PRIMANY SCHOOL, THIS IS WHERE EVERYTHING STARTED AS I WAS A TOP SPORTS STUDENT AT SCHOOL KNOWN FOR RUNNING AND PLAYING SOCCER, THEN STARTED MY HIGH SCHOOL YEARS IN PRETORIA AT A SCHOOL CALLED ROSINA SEDIBANE MODIBA SPORTS SCHOOL. THIS IS WERE MY TALENT WAS POLISHED AND I BECAME BETTER THEN DURING MY GRADE 10 CAME BACK TO KHUTSONG, I THEN ATTENDED BADIRILE HIGH SCHOOL. AFTER FINISHING MY GRADE 10 I WAS THEN SCOUTED TO PLAY FOR SUPERSPORTS UNITED THAT IS WHEN I WENT BACK TO PRETORIA TO FINISH MY REMAINING YEARS OF SCHOOL AT PHELINDABA SECONDAY SCHOOL IN ATTREGIVILLE PRETORIA
3. Why Soccer, when did it all start;
I STARTED FOOTBALL AT THE AGE OF 8 BECAUSE I HAD A LARGE FAMILY WHICH WAS VERY SPORTS MINDED I WAS INFLUENCED BY MY BROTHERS TO START PLAYING SOCCER I WOULD MAKE SURE THAT I ALWAYS HAVE A SOCCER BALL BY ME SO I CAN PRACTICE MY SKILLS AT NIGHT SO I COULD DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT THE FOLLOWING DAY THIS ALL GRADUATED TO BE SOMETHING THAT WAS MEANT FOR ME. I THINK THEN I MET A PERSON CALLED LEHLONOLO KGAREJANE (COACH MAJEJE),HE PLAYED A BIG ROLE IN PUSHING ME TO WORK HARD BECAUSE HE SAW THE QUALITY THAT I HAD,HE ALWAYS TOLD ME THAT ,"I SHOULD NEVER WORRY IF I WORK HARD NO MATTER HOW HARD THE OBSTACLES ARE I WILL MAKE IT BECAUSE HE SEES FUTURE IN ME" THAT'S WHAT ALWAYS DRIVED ME TO PUSH FOR MORE IN LIFE.
4. Career Highlights Accolades, medals and trophies
AT THE AGE OF 13 I PLAYED A BUILD IT TOURNAMENT MANAGED BY COACH MAJEJE WE WERE CROWNED CHAMPIONS AND I WAS ALSO CROWNED THE BEST PLAYER OF THE TOURNAMENT, WENT ON TO PLAY AT ROSINA SEDIBANE THATS WHEN I WOULD SAY THE REAL ME STARTED, I WAS PUSHED SO HARD THAT ON MY FIRST YEAR I BECAME CAPTAIN OF MY SITE ND THE FIRST TEAM COACH ALWAYS SAW ME PLAY ND AT TIMES WOULD GIVE ME AN OPPORTUNITY TO TRAIN WITH THEM.
IN 2016 I PLAYED A TOURNAMENT CALLED COPA COCA-COLA(U/15) WE WERE CROWNED CHAMPIONS UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF MR SAMUEL MADITO THEN WENT ON TO PLAY NATIONALS AT FREE STATE WE COULD NOT QUALIFY TO GO FURTHER. WE ALSO PLAYED THE GAUTENG DEVELOPMENT TOURNAMENT WERE WE WERE RUNNERS UP AND MAMELODI SUNDOWNS WAS CROWNED CHAMPIONS. THEN PLAYED SCHOOL TOURNAMENT WHICH WE DOMINATED AND WE WON ALL THE SCHOOLS TOURNAMENTS THAT YEAR. IN 2018 MIDYEAR AFTER PLAYING A TOURNAMENT CALLED FUTURE CHAMPS WITH MY REGIONAL SQUARD OF WEST RAND I THEN STARTED TRAINING WITH (SUPERSPORTS UNITED F.C) WHICH IS VERY PROFESSIONAL WHEN IT COMES TO MANAGING PLAYERS AND MAKING SURE THAT THEY MAKE YOU IMPROVE FOR THE BETTER SO YOU CAN BE THE PLAYER YOU ALWAYS WISHED TO BE IN LIFE. I DONT HAVE ANY ACHIEVEMENTS WITH THEM BUT I PLAYED FEW TOURNAMENTS REPRESENTING THIER BADGE (BAYHILL TOURNAMENT AND ENGEN TOURNAMENT) THEN GRADUETED TO PLAY FOR THE RESERVE TEAM (MULTICHOICE DISKI TEAM) WHICH I THEN PLAYED A FEW GAMES BECAUSE I WAS DOING MY MATRIC.
5. Career goals;
I WOULD LIKE TO SEE MYSELF BEING ONE OF THE BEST PLAYERS THAT WOULD MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN PROMOTING SOUTH AFRICA FOOTBALL ABROAD LIKE PERCY TAU, LEBOHANG PHIRI AND BONGANI ZUNGU. I KNOW IT’S NOT EASY BUT I TRUST MY JOURNEY AND I ALWAYS WORK MYSELF TO BE IN THAT LEVEL.
6. What’s the Experience been like at Supersport?
SUPERSPORTS IS A WELL STRUCTURED TEAM THAT BELIEVES IN PROMOTING FUTURE YOUNGSTERS IN REPRESENTING THE COUNTRY AND MORE. IT HAS GIVEN MANY UNFORTUNATE SOCCER PLAYERS AN OPPORTUNITY TO SHOWCASE THIER TALLENT AND THEN RECRUITED THEM TO PLAY FOR THE TEAM .WE WERE STAYING AT THE CLUBHOUSE IN PRETORIA LAUDIUM WHICH WAS VERY NICE BECAUSE ALL THAT WE NEEDED WAS RANDERD BY THE CLUB WICH MAKES IT SLIGHTLY MORE DIFFERENT THAN ANY OTHER CLUBS. I ENJOYED MY YEARS AT SUPERSPORTS AND I WOULD SAY THAT IT HAS BUILD ME IN BECOMING STRONGER AND BEING OPEN TO HOW A SOCCER CAREER CAN BE TO A PLAYER NOT EASY IF YOU RELAXED.
7. How do you stay fit, what is your workout routine/ training sessions?
I AM ONE PERSON WHO LIKES RUNNING MORE THAN MOST THINGS I ALWAYS MAKE SURE THAT EVEN IF IM NOT THAT FAST BUT MY STAMINA WAS ON A HIGH LEVEL.THIS STARTED IN MY PRIMANY YEARS WHERE I ALWAY PARTICIPATED IN 1200M RACES AND ACROSS CROUNTRY MARATHONS FOR STUDENTS. IT HAS ALWAYS BEING IN MY HEAD THAT I SHOULD NOT LET MY BODY REST UNLESS INTRUSTED BY THE APPROPRIATE PEOPLE TO DO SO.
8. Advice to up and coming talent ;
IN LIFE THERE IS NO TIME TO RELAX, THERS ALOT THAT AWAITS US IN THE NEAR FUTURE. WAKE UP AND START TELLING YOURSELF YOU CAN MAKE IT, I PROMISE YOU THAT WILL BE THE START OF THE GOLDEN YOU. REMEMBER NOTHING COMES EASY IN LIFE SO WORK HARD FOR WHAT YOU WANT THEN LATER WILL BE GREATER.

For Want of a New Beginning
Summary: A year after the War, Iroh has returned to Ba Sing Se to re-open the Jasmin Dragon. Late one evening he receives some unexpected visitors.
Pairings: read to find out :P
warnings: a character disappearance is mentioned but other than that not really anything else honestly
cross posted to: http://archiveofourown.org/works/12516836
Shadows fell over Ba Sing Se in peace. After enduring three sieges over the course of the Hundred Years War, the damage was extensive but after the past year much was repaired, and life had gone back to normal. Most of the rest of the world was recovering as well. Zuko was crowned Fire Lord and his bride, Katara, had given birth to Crown Princess Izumi. Aang was travelling with his partner Toph Beiphong attempting to heal the hurts of the war. Suki and Ty Lee were guarding the Fire Lord with the rest of the Kyoshi Warriors. For most the peace was a victory. For Aang and his friends it was bitter sweet. When Zuko and Katara lead the raid on Boiling Rock, Sokka, who was in a fire nation prison, was sentenced to death by the former Fire Lord. After the war’s end no record could be found of his fate. Princess Azula went missing within a week after Ozai ordered Sokka’s execution. After Fire Lord Zuko could not find any new information, he issued a 200,000 ban reward on Azula to bring her in for questioning regarding Sokka’s disappearance. Although Aang and his companions did their best to work through their sorrow and move on, Katara continued on with the hope that one day, Sokka would return.
A few months after Zuko’s Coronation, Iroh moved from Royal Caldera City to Ba Sing Se, hired Smellerbee and Longshot, and re-opened the Jasmin Dragon. For him, this was his dream, being at peace with his own tea shop once again. At this time of night most of his patrons had left, going back home to sleep, to work, or to other businesses open past sunset. Due to the late hour, he had sent Smellerbee home to Longshot, finished up with a few customers and was preparing to close when the soft ring of his bell came. Looking up, Iroh saw a man and woman who must be in a relationship as the woman was holding his left hand with their fingers interlaced the way couples do. Both were hooded and wrapped in travel stained, warn grey and brown cloaks that were probably Earth Kingdom green when they were new. The man carried himself like a soldier, walking with confidence but not too fast that his companion couldn’t keep up. Everything about his face but lower half was obscured in the shadow of his hood; he had a brown beard along his jawline and chin and had the complexion of a water tribesman. His companion’s face was also shadowed by her hood, but she was entirely different, having full lips and a pale complexion with locks of strawberry blond hair peeking out. Though she carried herself with a straight back and the confidence that the soldier had, Iroh could see her nervousness in the way she gripped his forearm with her right hand and the way she looked around the room. Iroh approached to couple and directed them to a small table.
“It’s a wonderful evening, is it not? Might a suggest a blend of chamomile?”
The woman nodded, not at Iroh but at her companion, who had removed his hood revealing a full head of brown hair pulled back in a loose ponytail and familiar deep blue eyes that reminded Iroh very much of the Fire Lady.
“Are you Iroh, General of the Fire Nation?” the man asked.
“Former General, but yes, Mr….”
“Tianlon,” the man replied, then gestured at the woman. “This is my wife.”
Iroh looked at the woman, who had also taken off her hood to reveal her long strawberry blond hair and a set of piercing amber eyes laced with hope yet also fear. He instantly recognized those eyes and wondered as they were not eyes that he would have ever guessed would contain fear.
“We came to you for help.” The woman said as she looked at her husband as if for courage. Her unforgettable voice confirmed Iroh’s conclusion. He raised his eyebrows at the couple.
“We need shelter, and well,” The man said with a wave of his hand. “We are willing to work for it. We need jobs too.”
“Why not go to your family in the Fire Nation?” Iroh asked the woman. “Im sure…”
The woman shook her head rather violently before forlornly staring at her hands in her lap.
“Circumstances prevent us from going to our family.” The man replied, passing Iroh a Pai Sho tile. “We were told we could trust you to help us.”
“That is not surprising,” Iroh nodded as he picked up the white lotus tile, passing it between his fingers. “I might be able to, Mr. and Mrs. Tianlon. But first let me close my shop.”
Iroh got up to lock the front door, shut the windows, and preceded to brew some Jasmin tea knowing it was the woman’s favorite. He returned with three cups and the steaming pot and poured for the couple.
“Please drink.” He said before sipping his own tea. The man sipped but the woman stared at the tea in front of her before taking a tentative sip herself. Her face lit up before contorting with worry and shock.
“How did you know?”
“I would never forget what my niece’s favorite tea is.” Iroh replied with a grin. “If I may ask, Mr. Tianlon, what is your first name?”
“I guess there isn’t any point in hiding anymore.” Azula replied with a sigh. “My husband’s name is Sokka.”
“Well.” Iroh said as he kept his surprise at that revelation hidden. “Azula, Sokka, tell me your tale, start from the beginning.”
I dont own Avatar or its characters. but i do love the series. <3

so ive had a really bad night so if u would can i have some headcanons for the legends team (mainly revolving around my Boys mick jax ray and len cuz theyre my comfort characters) u dont have to if you dont want to tho
ALRIGHT ALRIGHT ALRIGHT here we go
len:
he has a very meticulous skincare routine. he spends at least an hour getting ready for the day and getting ready for bed.
he takes jax under his wing for this, the 2 of them have spa days sometimes. it’s very nice
he buys a lot of snowflake patterned things just bc he thinks its funny
he has snowflake pajama bottoms and a fluffy fleece blanket and some fuzzy socks
speaking of which, he has a ton of fuzzy socks bc lisa and mick just. keep giving them to him for his birthday. nothing else, just fuzzy socks. they come in all colors and patterns. he will never have cold feet again
he buys his own action figure and places it in inappropriate places around the waverider
it becomes a game w the team. where is mini cold hiding? is it in the freezer? in the coffee pot? on the shower head? did ray attempt to hide it by putting his atom suit on it again? who knows!
he adopts stray and unwanted pound cats, he has about 5 of them and he loves them very much. he loves to cuddle w them too
loves kesha bc i love kesha n love 2 self project
ray:
he asks gideon for everyone’s birthdays and always makes sure he makes them something nice they would like/find useful!!
he made mick and len matching charm necklaces. they have a little flame and a snowflake on them. ray has one that has an atom symbol on it.
len: im not a jewelry person raymond
ray: oh thats ok you dont have to wear it
len: fuck off im wearing it forever
he has a big fluffy blanket that he likes to drape around his shoulders like a cape and walks around dramatically w it. also doubles as his own personal cocoon for when he is feeling a Sad
packs lunches for everyone before missions, oh wait that one is actually canon. wild
but he starts getting lunch orders after a while
mick: wings
ray: what?
mick: hot wings. next lunch
ray: :D !! u got it
he has such a sweet tooth. u wouldnt expect it from him bc he is a Buff Boy. but he will swipe all ur cupcakes while u blinked and he will run off to his room n eat them
hes rly bad at remembering to eat himself but the SECOND he finds out someone skipped a meal he marches them down to the kitchen and has gideon make them some food. mom friend
him and jax are usually the ones who make breakfast for the rest of the legends, or at the very least get the coffee pot running. everyone is grateful, especially sara, who is a tiny hell goblin before she is Caffeinated for the day
mick:
he lovs to bake!!! he’s the one who makes the cupcakes and cakes. he was tired of all the waverider’s snacks not having sugar in them. he had to take things into his own hands.
one time he made weed brownies. the results were fun.
the legends didnt trust him anywhere near an oven at first but he surprised them all with killer brownies. the first batch were not laced. the second batch tho? he’ll never tell
he actually rly likes romance novels. he hides them behind the covers of his skin mags. No One Must Know
except ray, he knows. he also loves romance novels. they share book recommendations.
he’s not the biggest animal lover but he does love len’s cats. he has a favorite cat named Blaze. he’s big and orange and fluffy. sometimes Blaze falls asleep on mick’s lap and mick would rather gnaw his own arm off before he would move to wake him up
him and len do that thing where like. one of them points to some random and usually odd looking object and theyre like, “thats you.”
mick: *points to a garbage can* that you?
len: excuse me, mick, i am not trash. i am recycling. i’m higher quality garbage and thus deserve respect and special attention.
cries while watching movies sometimes. especially ones where the dog dies. leave him alone he has Feelings too u know
really enjoys the nights everyone gets drunk enough to play strip poker. because he’s really good at poker, and he gets to see his teammates strip. win win.
jax:
the BIGGEST britney spears stan. he’ll fuck u up if he catches u throwing shade
him and sara have a competition going on called Who Can Give Rip The Biggest Aneurysm. they just do increasingly dangerous and inappropriate things while in rip’s presence until rip gives up and leaves and/or cries
has a peanut allergy but one time he figured since he’s on a time ship now with an AI that could recover him from virtually anything, he says fuck it and tries a reeses cup for the first time. he cries, and not just out of the anaphylactic shock, but also because it was probably the best thing he ever tasted
the first time he meets wally he falls in love like, immediately. even moreso when he finds out wally is into racing cars. he gets wally’s number and they flirt over text
one time sara stole his phone for something and she saw the messages and hounded him over it, asking how long they’ve been together and when the FUCK was he gonna tell her he got such a cute boyfriend, she’s so proud
used to work a ton of jobs in high school. fast food? retail? family restaurants? he’s had to deal with the torture of them ALL
he loves his momma so much!!! he makes rip drop them off in central city in time for her birthday so he can visit her. she ends up inviting all the legends over for dinner and adopts them all
hopes this makes u feel a little better! :3c

OKAY hear me out. I had the sudden urge to finish my Twilight s/i’s story. I couldnt just leave it unfinished it was eating away at me. so here it is, The whole ass backstory i wrote for my Twilight s/i. im so sorry if mobile doesnt show the read more, bc its fucking LONG
words: 10 560
Ashley Hale (formerly Ashley Davidson)
Born: Sept 15, 1942
Turned: 1962
From: Edmonton, AB, Canada.
Born near the end of the second World War and raised in Edmonton, Ashley (but she prefers “Ash”) lived a relatively normal life until the age of 20. Her father, who was deemed unfit for service, worked as a bank teller. Her mother a nurse, before becoming pregnant.
One night, in July of 1962, she and her family were taking a road trip to visit some relatives outside of the city. Rain was pouring down, but they were only about 10 minutes from the nearest rest stop. Her father, not wanting to spend any more time in the rain than needed, decides to speed up a little in the hopes of arriving sooner. Nobody would have thought that it would be an issue, as the roads had been empty for most of the trip so far, but that would prove to be wrong. With all the rain, he failed to notice the deer that had just stepped onto the road until slightly too late. He swerves and successfully avoids the animal, but the wet ground fought against them and caused them to tumble into a ditch.
When Ash regained consciousness, the car was beat up and laying on its side, having flipped a few times over. Weakly, she manages to pull herself out of the busted window, adding even more cuts and bruises to her frail body. As she falls to the ground, head spinning and vision blurring, she glances inside the car to see her parents, completely still and covered in blood. Before she can make any sense of it, she passes out from blood loss.
Her vision slips in and out, creating a slideshow of the events to follow. A few shots of nothing. Click. Two pairs of feet near the car. Click. One pair is now closer, wearing combat boots. Click. The other pair, sneakers. Click. Both pairs, now next to her. Click. Long, curly black hair and set of golden eyes. Click. Then, black.
Pain
Searing and unrelenting pain. It floods her body in a wave, and is so powerful that she can’t think. Writhing and screaming for what feels like hours. Is there no end? Please, it hurts.
It hurts.
It hurts.
Please, it hurts so much.
Please.
How long has it been? It feels like weeks. Months even. It doesn’t stop. Why hasn’t she died yet?
Wait.
It’s subsiding. Is she dying? Is it finally over?
The pain lessens. Only a touch, but enough for some relief. Then, ever so slowly, it lessens more and more. When it’s finally over, she lies there. Unconscious, but peaceful.
She has a dream. It’s blurry, but, she sees a couple. A man with pale skin and bright blonde hair. His arm is around a woman. Same pale skin, with brown, almost red hair. They’re smiling warmly at her. Her head turns. There she sees four other people. All with the same pale skin. She feels happy to see them. One of them, a dirty blonde haired man, steps towards her and holds out his hand.
She wakes up. As her eyes adjust to her surroundings, she starts to panic. She’s in a log cabin that is completely unfamiliar to her. She sits up. Before she can survey any more of the room, she has another dream. This time, while shes awake.
The same scene as before, but shifted in perspective. Her hand is outstretched. She’s seeing through the dirty blonde’s eyes. In front of her is a short haired woman. She’s mesmerizing. As this short haired woman looks into her eyes, she feels warm. Like these people are family. The short haired woman smiles, and takes hold of the hand in front of her.
She comes back to reality, to the unfamiliar scene she found herself in. Her mind is racing. What is happening? Why did I see that? Who are they? Where am I? Shouldn’t I be dead? Before she can calm down, the door opens.
The black haired woman she saw at the scene of the car crash slowly comes in, but freezes when she sees Ash awake. Quickly, she shuts the door, and footsteps can be heard walking away. She comes back with a cup in her hands, and holds it in front of Ash’s face
“Please, drink this.”
“What’s going on? Who are you?”
“Before I answer any questions, I need you to drink this. You’re thirsty, right?”
Ash almost didn’t notice with all the chaos, but her throat is burning. She can smell the drink so strongly that it’s almost like it’s calling to her. She takes the cup and starts to drink as fast as she can without even looking at it first. Her thirst subsides enough to calm down a little.
“There, is that better?”
“Yeah, it helps.”
“My name is Helen. My partner, Jo, and I found you in that car wreck.”
“I… don’t really remember much of it.”
“And you probably won’t. Your life… it’s going to be very different from now on. You were dying. Holding on by a thread with the little strength you had. We saved you. Jo was against it, but, I couldn’t just let you suffer there…” Helen trails off. She looks down and remembers something. “Oh! Right, let me get you a change of clothing! I promise, when Jo comes back, we will explain everything.” Helen gets up and leaves the room.
Ash looks down. Her clothing is torn and covered in dried blood. Right. I guess she didn’t really get a chance to change. Helen returns with some clothing in her hands.
“Here you are! They might be a little big but that’s nothing a little alterations can’t fix!” She hands Ash the clothing and starts to walk out of the room. “Oh, by the way…” Helen looks at her feet, a little sheepish. “We never managed to find out your name.”
“Oh! Uh, Ash.”
Helen nods. “Ash. That’s a beautiful name. When you’re done, please, come on out.” She smiles, and leaves the room.
Ash’s thoughts keep racing through her head as she changes. I’m alive. I was saved. But, there’s so much I still need to know. The burning in her throat intensifies again. That drink she had earlier still lingering on her tongue.
Before she can leave the room, Ash hears muffled voices through the door. Curious, she places her ear to the door. It’s hard to make out fully, but she can hear some of what is being said.
Helen: “...woke up…”
???: “....thought…..wake up...tomorrow….”
Helen: “Go….hello”
Ash hears footsteps coming towards the door, and she backs away quickly. Helen knocks
“May I come in?”
“Oh! Yes, it’s fine!”
Helen opens the door and her eyes light up when she sees Ash.
“Oh, those clothes fit you well! I’m glad.” She shuffles to the side of the door to let someone else in. A tall, stocky woman enters the room. Red curly hair comes down just past her shoulders, and she’s wearing what seems to be hiking gear.
“Ash, this is Jo. My partner.” Helen introduces the two of you, a slightly nervous look on her face. The tall woman, who you now know is Jo, has a blank expression.
“Hey, uh, sorry I wasn’t here when you woke up. We weren’t expecting you to come back to us so soon.” Jo mutters.
“That’s alright. I’m still not really sure what’s going on anyway…” Ash trails off, sensing a little but of tension in the air. Jo shoots Helen a look.
“Jo, she just woke up. I wasn’t sure how to handle it on my own.” Helen admits, head turning towards the floor. “Why don’t you come out into the dining room, Ash? We can explain everything there.” The pair walk out of the room, hand in hand.
She follows suit, walking into the main area of the cabin. It’s a lot larger than she expected when you compare it to the size of the room they were just in. Ash takes some time to take in the sights. From the paintings on the walls to the decorations all around the room. Slowly, she makes her way into the dining area, where there’s a table big enough to fit 10 or so people.
“Please, have a seat. I’ll get you some more food.” Helen walks to the kitchen while Jo sits at a chair. Ash isn’t quite sure where to sit, so she takes a spot just diagonal of Jo as to not make things weirder.
“How you feelin, kid?” Jo’s raspy voice cuts the silence like a hot knife, startling Ash slightly.
“Uh, not awful, I guess. My throat is killing me. I have this..very strong craving. I don’t exactly know what I need though…” Jo sighs.
“Yeah, I remember that feelin’. Don’t worry, it’ll be a bit more clear soon.”
Helen comes back with a pitcher and a few glasses on a tray, one glass already full and ready to be served.
“Here, Ash, drink this. It will help with that burning in your throat.” She encourages. Ash ignores the irresistible smell coming from the cup for a very short amount of time to examine the liquid. It's crimson in colour and thick. Without a second thought, she downs the whole glass.
“God, that's good.” She groans, wiping her mouth with her sleeve.
“Huh...I’ve never seen a newborn with that much restraint.” Jo somewhat mumbles to herself.
“Yeah, they’re usually so...feral.” Helen murmurs, a puzzled look on her face as she gets lost in thought. The two give each other a quick look as they continue to think aloud.
“I guess she’s just different. It’s not like we’ve seen every newborn in the world.” Jo quips.
“You’re right. Hell, we haven’t even seen a gift with our own eyes. Just talk.” Helen replies.
“Um...I’m sorry to interrupt…” Ash quietly speaks up. The two turn their heads to her, looking like they forgot she was even in the room. “What’s going on? What do you mean by ‘newborn’? Like, a baby? And why can’t I stop thinking about...” She trails off before finishing her sentence, not wanting to say it out loud.
“It’s okay, Ash. It’s going to be alright.” Helen tries her best to comfort the younger girl. “Uh, this might sound really weird but-”
“Yer a bloodsucker.” Jo cuts Helen off.
“JO! What the fuck!”
“She deserves the truth and she deserves it straight.” Jo leans back in her chair, crossing her arms.
“Wh-what? Do you mean like...Dracula? Like, old legends and myths?” Ash’s brain is running a million miles a second, jumping from question to question and the overwhelming craving she has. “Is...that what I want so desperately right now? Is it blood?” Her heart would be pounding if it was even moving at all.
“Yes. Jo and I are vampires as well. That craving is going to stay for a while. When things get settles down, we were going to take you hunting.” Helen says, being careful to choose her words.
“Hunting? For...humans?”
“Oh, Lord, no! Jo and I only hunt animals. There are plenty here in Northern Alberta. We don’t touch humans”
“If you show that kind of restraint out there like you did in here, you shouldn’t have too much of a problem when it comes to feeding. Not many people up here, anyhow.” Jo reassures. Ash stays silent as she tries to sort out her own thoughts and process this new information.
The room stays silent for a minute or so, before Helen cuts through it.
“I’m sorry, Ash. I’m sorry for making you this way.” She puts her head down in remorse. “We smelled all the blood from the car crash. When we got there, the two in the car, who we assumed were your parents, were already dead. You were just lying there in the grass, hanging on within an inch of your life. I felt that you deserved a second chance. It was all my idea. I was the one to change you and I swear I will help you through this.” She says through gritted teeth, determined to finish what she started. Ash stares at her for a few seconds.
“Thank you. For giving me a chance. I’m still so confused, but I feel like I’m going to be okay now.” She smiles warmly at Helen. Helen smiles back, perking up at Ash’s words.
“Okay then, how’s about we try some hunting?” Jo remarks, standing up from the table. Helen and Ash follow suit. As Ash stands, another vision comes to her.
It’s the same set of people, but in a slightly different scenario, They’re all sitting together in one big living space, talking and laughing. The scene pans over and she sees the same beautiful woman from before. The woman looks at her and smiles warmly. Ash is filled with a strong feeling of love from looking at her.
The vision fades and Ash comes back to the real world to find Jo and Helen staring at her.
“Sweetheart, what just happened? Did you see something?” Helen asks, walking over to the dazed girl and placing a hand on her back. “Please, tell me.”
Ash explains the visions that she has seen in great detail, even down to the colours of insignificant background pieces of furniture. Helen thinks on it before speaking.
“I think you may have a gift, Ash.” She says, smiling brightly to the girl.
“A gift?”
“Yes. Some of us have what we call ‘gifts’. I’ve heard of things like mind reading, future seeing, or, the ability to inflict pain without touching a person. Not everyone has a gift, so, you’re a bit special in that way.” Helen starts walking over to Jo.
“So, what gift do I have?” Ash questions.
“Well, we’re not completely sure. It could be future seeing. We would have to do a little bit of testing before we can figure it out.” Helen stretches out her hand. “For now, let’s go do some hunting, okay? You look parched.”
Ash takes it, and they walk out the door and into the dark of night.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The year was 1920 when Mary Alice Brandon (aged 19) was changed. She lost her memories, but her visions of the future were only intensified. Her first vision after changing was of herself and another vampire. She and this male vampire were close, holding each other and whispering into each other’s ears. She saw this, and could see that they were in love.
Her second was of herself and this man together, surrounded by a beautiful family. They were all talking together. She knew that she belonged with them..
Her last vision was vague. It was of herself, running through a forest. When she stops, she looks around. Then keeps running. She stops again, and looks around once more. Before she can take off, she comes face to face with a woman. Her dark red hair catches the eye of Mary Alice as it moves with the wind. They lock eyes for a moment, in shock.
And it ends. She wants so desperately to see more, but nothing happens when she tries. She decides to set off in search of those she saw in her visions.
Some time passes. She changes her name to just “Alice” and her search for the man from her visions finally comes to an end in 1948. He finally shows up at the empty diner they were fated to meet in and Alice is elated to finally see this mystery man, who she learns is named Jasper, in person. They bond and become closer than they could imagine, however, they both can tell that they aren’t meant to fall in love. They decide to stick together and brace this world with a newfound companionship.
Two years later, they find the family from Alice’s vision. The Cullens, they were called. Carlisle was the oldest. A doctor with incredible restraint and a calming aura. His wife, Esme, who was gorgeous and caring. Edward, a somewhat closed off boy with the gift to read minds. Rosalie, a hardened woman who was given a second chance she didn’t want. Lastly, Emmett. A burly manly-man who is head over heels for Rosalie. They accepted Alice and Jasper into their home and into their hearts quickly, which meant the search was over.
Alice spent the next few decades with the last of her visions in the back of her mind. She didn’t have any follow up to this mysterious girl and where she would be able to find her, so she would just sit and wait for another vision, like she had done so in the past.
Then, one day, she finally got one.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The year is 1967, 5 years after Ash Davidson turned. Her newborn years have come and gone and she’s come to terms with her new life.
With nowhere else to go, she still stays with nomads Jo and Helen, the women who replaced her parents after the change. They taught her how to hunt, and they answered every question Ash had about this new form.
“Do we burn if we go in the sun?”
“Nope, myth. But, our skin takes on a glittering effect that would give us away to any human who sees us, so be careful.”
    “Are we invisible in mirrors?”
“Nope. You could have just checked that one yourself.”
“Do we need to be invited to be able to enter someone’s house?”
    “Nah, that’s all folklore.”
And so on. Every question they could answer, they did, as they guided this young vampire through her new life. Now, they’re helping her train her gift.
“Okay, now, I want you to stay here in the house. Jo and I will leave and you’ll hear a loud noise. That’s your signal to start. You got that, Ash?” Helen, the black haired woman, is standing outside of the door to the log cabin that has become home with Jo, ready to start training for the day.
“I got it. Listen for the noise and start.” Ash gives her a thumbs up and watches as the two of them disappear into the woods. After a few seconds, a loud crack can be heard from the direction they headed, and Ash takes that as her cue.
Ash closes her eyes and focuses on Jo. She searches for her in the woods, winding through the trees and bushes until she finds her.
Ash opens her eyes and finds herself in the woods, leaning against a tree. She looks to her left and sees a small tree trunk cracked in half. In her hands, she’s got a piece of wood and a knife and is whittling something. When she looks up, she sees Helen, who seems to be speaking gibberish.
“Wolf. Hairbrush. Scalpel. Orange. Baseball. Zebra.” Helen is repeating this set of words in this exact order, with her fingers making numbers to match. Wolf is three, hairbrush is five, scalpel is ten, orange is two, baseball is one and zebra is ten again. Helen repeats this pattern  a total of 5 times.
“Okay, I think we should be good.” Helen says, as she turns around and heads back in the direction of the cabin.
Ash blinks and she’s back to where she was, standing in the living room of her home. She waits for a few minutes before she hears the other two return and open the front door.
“So?’ Jo says, as she walks towards Ash, holding a knife and a piece of wood in her hands. “Whatcha got?”
Ash repeats the six words and their numbered counterparts exactly as she saw them back to Jo and Helen. Helen beams
“Oh, sweetheart, that was perfect! You did so good! You were faster than ever, too!” Helen wraps her arms around Ash in an embrace.
“Yeah, good job, kid.” Jo mumbles, staring down at her project. Ash closes her eyes again and looks through Jo’s for only a second before coming back.
“Jo, I know you’re happy, too. No need to hide it anymore.” Ash puts on a sly grin as Jo shoots her a glare, and mumbles something to herself about “that damn kid and her gift”.
For the years to come, Ash would train her gift to the point to where she didn’t have to search for the person she wanted to find, she could just focus on them and see what they do. She tried endlessly to see any of the people from her first activation, but to no avail. She wouldn’t get anything until a little over a decade later, in 1979. The same year that Alice Cullen finally had her second vision of the dark red haired woman.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s been 29 years since Alice and Jasper joined the Cullen family, 31 years since they met and 59 years since Alice turned and had her very first visions of the future as a vampire. 59 long years that she waited for something to turn up about the woman she saw in her visions. Alice knew that this woman would mean something to her. She just wanted to know more.
When the vision came, she stopped dead. She was out hunting with Jasper, Edward, and Esme. Along with them was Tanya from the Denali coven, another vegetarian group that the Cullens have been staying with for quite some time now.
Edward, who had become accustomed to when Alice had a particularly important vision, clued in instantly and was watching with her.
She saw herself following the dark red haired girl through the woods and up to a cabin. She took in the sights and noted the cabin as the girl led her inside. Alice sees two other women, both vegetarian vampires.
The vision ends and Alice can barely stand. Finally, a clue. A big one, at that.
“Alice, that was the girl, wasn’t it?” Edward asks, knowing all about Alice’s search from her own thoughts. Alice nods lightly, and Esme drops to her side.
“Girl? What girl?” Tanya questions. Jasper cuts in.
“When Alice turned, she had three visions. One of myself, one of the Cullens, and one of another vampire girl. She’s been searching for this girl for almost 60 years with nothing to go on. This is the first time since then that she’s seen her.”
“This girl, is she friend or foe?” Tanya asks, nervous about the intentions of this stranger.
“We don’t know. We just know that she’s important to Alice.” Esme pipes up, her hand on Alice’s back, comforting her.
“I think I know where she is.”  Alice says quietly. Edwards follows.
“That cabin, we saw it on our way up to Alaska, didn’t we?” Alice nods.
“I think so. Tanya, do you know of any other vegetarians nearby? The three I saw all had golden eyes like us.” Tanya shakes her head.
“Not that I know of, but, Carmen and Eleazar might. We separate when hunting and they may have come across some nomads before. I can ask when we get back.” Alice nods, then stands up.
“Okay, let’s get back to hunting. I’ll need to be at full energy if I’m going to look for her.”
“You mean we, right?” Jasper raises his eyebrow at her. Alice shakes her head.
“I’m sorry, but I think I need to do this alone. She might get scared if a cavalry shows up looking for her.”
“We can’t just let you go alone! We don’t know her intentions, or why she’s important to you.” Jasper raises his voice, his concern growing as the conversation continues.
“What if she’s important because she’s the one who kills you, Alice? We don’t know anything about her because you haven’t had any visions.” Edward chimes in.
“She won’t. I know it.” Alice says, getting more and more frustrated.
“No, you don’t! If you knew for sure, then I would know, too!” Edward yells.
“I can just feel it, okay? You have to trust me!” Alice yells back, getting into Edwards face.
Jasper puts himself between them and places one hand on each of their shoulders. Instantly, the tension dies down.
“Stop, you two. Alice, don’t you think it would be smarter if someone came along with you? They can just watch from a distance. She doesn’t even have to see them.” Jasper asks, hoping to convince her.
“Fine.” Alice caves, knowing fully well that they won’t give up on it. “But, they have to stay far enough back that she won’t know anyone’s there.”
“Then, I’ll do it.” Edward offers. “That way, I can hear what she’s thinking and step in if i need to.”
“You won’t need to…” Alice mumbles under her breath as everyone prepares to finish their hunting trip.
Edward says nothing when Alice’s thoughts are filled with protests to the idea. “Okay, let’s get going. I think there’s some deer to the north.”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The day that would change Ash’s life forever. It started out normal. At sunrise, she sat outside and watched the sun come up through the trees. A tradition she started after a few years of staying with the two nomads who found her.
Then, using her power, she would check the perimeter to make sure no one was near the cabin by ‘expanding’ her senses to cover 100 metres all around the house, a skill that she developed while training.
When nothing was found, she went back into the house to do some cleaning. Dusting, vacuuming, etc. When she was finished with that, she would use her free time to do various other hobbies. Training her power, reading, or knitting. Those are what she was currently invested in.
Today, she decided to train for a bit. She wanted to try expanding her search radius from 100 metres to 200.
She goes back outside and sits down in the snow. Then, she closes her eyes and starts to expand her senses once again.
Within seconds, she hits the 100 mark. Slowly, from there, she pushes herself further. 101, 102, 103. It takes a few minutes but eventually, she hits 150. She opens her eyes and pulls back, happy with the results. She closes them again and goes a second time, hoping to speed up and to hit 200.
Although, this time, when she hits the 200 mark, she picks up on something.
When her vision returns, she running through the trees. On the surface, she’s calm and collected, but underneath, her emotions start running wild. Hopeful, but nervous. Excited, but worried.
Ash comes back to her own eyes and panics. Someone’s actually near the cabin for the first time since she’s turned and she has no clue what to do.
Thinking quickly, she closes her eyes once more and searches for more people. She gets a hit, someone who is a few metres behind the first person. All she can see through their eyes are the trees in front of them and the other blurry figure running through the forest. They’re extremely worried for the one they’re following.
She comes back after searching. Two other vampires, coming straight for the cabin. A situation she has never had to deal with until now.
She stands up. I have to take care of this on my own. Without alerting Jo and Helen, who are sitting blissfully unaware inside the cabin, she heads towards the unwanted guests.
Making sure to stay quiet, she slowly comes up to the place where she last saw them and hides behind a tree. Then, she enters the first person’s eyes. They’re standing in the middle of a clearing, looking around in circles for something.
“It was here, wasn’t it?” They say to themselves. It’s a female voice. Her emotions are still running wild, but this time, she’s more hopeful.
When this girl looks around, Ash notices that she’s not at all well hidden behind the tree she picked. As if on cue, the girl notices the same thing and slowly started to walk towards the tree.
Ash comes back to her own eyes. Her mind starts racing with all the options she has but as far as she can tell, none can end well. Taking matters into her own hands, she decides to confront them.
She quickly comes out from behind the tree, baring her teeth and ready to fight. And she sees it.
In front of her is a face she knows all too well. A face that she’s been searching for since she turned in 1962, 17 years ago. The face she knows as the ‘short haired woman’.
And she’s standing right in front of her.
Instantly, Ash notices the shocked expression on the short haired girl’s face.
“It’s you.” The woman says, unable to muster anything else.
“W-what?”
“I...I’ve been looking for you. For 60 years.”
“Si- you…” Ash sputters out, unable to stop the rapid thoughts going through her mind right now. Slowly, the girl gets closer and takes Ash’s hand into her own.
“I’m Alice.” She says, with a smile.
“I’m...I’m Ash. How...how did you find me?” Ash asks.
“My gift. When I turned, I saw you in a vision. I’m a future seer. I saw this place, that cabin, and you, just a few months ago. With the help of some friends, we were able to track you down.” Alice replies.
“You...you saw me? When you turned?”
“Yes. I knew somehow that you would be important to me. But, I couldn’t see you after that. I couldn’t see you no matter how hard I tried. Then, I finally did. And it brought me here.” Alice explains, her face beaming.
“I saw you when I turned, too. My gift allows me to see through someone else’s eyes, and to feel the emotions that they feel. I saw you, and a group of others. Then, I never found you again. I tried and tried but nothing happened.”
Alice brings her hand up to Ash’s face, caressing it lightly as tears form in her eyes, and smiles.
“We...saw each other? That means that our fates lead us together.” She says.
Ash nods, taking her own hands and placing them on top of Alice’s. Then, she remembers something.
“Wait. Someone was with you, right? Who was that? I can’t seem to find them anymore…”
“Oh! That was my brother, Edward. He was with me just in case out meeting didn’t go well. I think he backed off once he realized that things were okay.”
Ash closes her eyes and quickly checks on Jo and Helen to make sure they’re still okay. When it’s confirmed, she grabs Alice’s hand.
“Come with me. I want you to meet my family.” She says, as she pulls Alice behind her towards the cabin.
Periodically, Ash looks back at Alice. Sometimes, in disbelief that she’s even here. Sometimes, she just wants to keep looking at Alice’s face. She’s even more beautiful in person.
When they reach the cabin, Ash stops.
“Wait out here, okay? I want to explain the situation first.” She says. Alice nods in response.
Ash lets go of her hand and opens the door to the cabin.
“Jo? Helen? Where are you guys?” She calls out to the two nomads. She could easily find them with her gift, but the last time she tried that, she found them having sex. After that, she decided just to ask.
“We’re in the kitchen!” Helen calls out.
When Ash enters the kitchen, she sees the two of them sitting at the island, talking to each other.
“Oh, so you guys decided this room wasn’t getting enough attention?” She quips. Helen laughs.
“We just decided to switch it up for once.”
“Alright, so. I gotta talk to you two about something.” Ash says, her voice growing a but shaky.
“Hey, what’s up, kid?” Jo asks with a worried expression on her face.
“Okay, don’t get mad. I was training my power earlier. Y’know, trying to expand my search radius. When I managed to hit 200 metres, I, uh...I got a hit.”
Jo stands up.
“You WHAT?”
“Just calm down! Everything’s alright, I dealt with it myself.” Ash tries to reassure Jo, but fails.
“You dealt with it ALONE? We told you to tell us if you found something!” Jo yells. Helen stands up and grabs her arm.
“I know! But, I wanted to deal with this on my own. I figured that if things went south, I could yell loud enough for you to hear me.” Ash jumps back at the sound of Jo’s booming voice.
“What happened, Ash? Who were they?” Helen steps in.
“Well, that’s the funny part. Hold on a second.” Ash says, quickly running to the door and bringing Alice inside.
“You guys…” She says as she pulls the shorter girl behind her into the kitchen.
“This is Alice.”
Jo and Helen are silent as they stare at Alice, who smiles brightly back at them.
“Hello. I’m Alice Cullen of the Olympic coven. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” Alice greets them and curtsies with a nonexistent dress.
Jo and Helen don’t respond. Instead, they eye her over from head to toe. Helen takes notice of her features and it clicks.
“Ash, is this…” Before Helen can finish her question, Ash nods.
“It’s her. Alice is the girl from my vision. She found me.” Ash smiles wide. Helen starts to tear up.
“Oh my gosh...it’s really her? You’ve been looking for her for so long…”
“Well, she’s been looking longer.” Ash retorts.
“60 years, to be exact.” Alice says.
“60 years? Oh wow. How did this all happen?” Helen asks. The two spend some time explaining the whole situation to Jo and Helen. How they both saw each other, about Alice’s vision, and the meeting. When they’re all caught up, Jo is smiling to herself while Helen is basically full on sobbing.
“You two...this must be fate pulling the two of you closer together.” Helen says through her tears.
“Nah, this is just some freaky bloodsucker coincidence.” Jo shoots back with a quip, smirking. Helen smacks her arm.
“Jo! Stop that.” Everyone laughs.
“Well, I think we should give these two some privacy. Ain’t that right, Helen?” Jo shoots Helen a look.
“Right! We’ll let you two talk alone. I think you both probably have things you want to talk about.” Helen and Jo get up and leave the room for their own.
“Come on, it’s getting dark. I want to go sit under the stars.” Ash grabs Alice’s hand once again and brings her back outside. Together, they find a spot in perfect view of the sunset and sit down in the snow.
They spend the whole night talking to each other. About their lives before and after turning, their gifts, their families. Any topic they could think of they had a conversation about. Through the whole night, they grow closer and closer. By the time the sun comes up, they both can tell that they’re meant to be together. Whether it’s love or friendship, it doesn’t matter. They’re supposed to be together. Right here and now.
As dawn breaks, they stop talking to admire the sunrise. Alice rests her head on Ash’s shoulder and grabs her hands in her own. Together they sit, peacefully in the glow of the morning sun.
In a window from the cabin, Helen can be seen watching the two of them huddling together.
“I think those two are mates.” She says to herself. Jo lets out a loud laugh.
“Ya think? Hel, the whole time that Alice would talk, the kid couldn’t take her damn eyes off of her.” Helen giggles in response.
“Yeah, you’re right. Alice did the same exact thing.”
“So did you when we met. Every time I’d look back, you would turn your head so damn quick but those curls gave you away.” Jo laughs to herself.
“Yeah, yeah. Not like yours did you any favours.” Helen snaps back. Together, they laugh as they reminisce about their pasts.
When day fully breaks, Alice suggests that Ash come up to Alaska to meet the Cullens, since Alice already got to meet her family. After a long talk, Jo and Helen caved and agreed. They lectured her for hours before they left.
“Remember, try not to let anyone see you in the sun.”
“And don’t go using your gift all willy-nilly, alright? Save it for when it’s needed.”
“And find some food before you go! You’re going to need your energy for the trip!”
After lots of “yeah” and “I know”, they set off. A few yards from the cabin, they meet up with Edward, who stayed just far enough to hear them just in case something went bad. I think this one’s the mind reader, right? I still remember his face. Ash thinks to herself. Edward chuckles.
“Yeah, this one’s the mind reader.”
Ash gasps and instinctively throws her hands over her mouth even though it wouldn’t help at all.
“It’s alright. I hear worse on a daily basis.” Edward laughs again. “So, what did you mean that you ‘still remember my face’?”
While on the road, Ash shares her story to Edward. She describes everyone she saw in her vision while Edward and Alice tell her who they are.
“So, the blonde man and the dark brown haired woman? I assume they’re a couple.”
“Yup, that’s Carlisle and Esme. Carlisle is the one who turned most of us.” Edward says.
“They’re basically our parents. At least, they are when we’re living normal lives” Alice chimes in.
“And the beautiful blonde woman with the burly man?”
“That’s Rosalie and Emmett. They’re mates as well.” Alice explains.
“Yeah, Rosalie can be a bit harsh so don’t take anything she says to heart. Emmett’s a manly guy. He’s the strongest out of all of us by far. Might want to fight you when you meet.” Edward warns.
“That leaves...the dirty blonde man. I’m guessing that’s Jasper.”
“Yeah! He’s the one I told you about. How we met after I turned.” Alice beams when talking about Jasper.
“Right! Your partner in crime.” Ash retorts.
Suddenly, Alice stops. She stares into nothing as she has a vision. Edward quickly watches along, looking concerned, but his face softens as he sees it as well. Ash, seeing the two of them, decided to try something. She closes her eyes and focuses on Alice’s. When she gets her bearings, she sees nothing but the forest that Alice is staring at.
She focuses a little harder. Slowly, a vague outline of something starts to show. A group of people. She can’t see their faces, just their outlines. Then, the vision ends.
Alice and Edward are smiling together while Ash adjusts back to her own eyes.
“What was that, Alice? I tried to see it too, but, I just got some blurry outlines.” Ash asks.
“Wait, you saw something? From my vision?”
“I think so. I saw maybe 7 or 8 people. I think they were people…” Ash trails off, trying to remember all that she saw. Alice’s eyes widen.
“Yes! I had a vision of us! Of you meeting my family! You can see my visions!” Alice yells excitedly and she clasps her hands onto Ash’s shoulders.
“Yeah, I guess I can…” Ash trails off, thinking of how she could start training this aspect of her gift.
“Wait a second. What is your gift again?” Edward asks, confused by the conversation.
“Oh! I guess I never fully explained it. I can see through someone else’s eyes. Let’s say you were looking at Alice while I was 100 feet away staring at a tree or something. I could put your vision into my mind and see Alice from your point of view. Does that make sense?” Ash rambles.
“Yeah, I think I get it. Actually, I’d like to try something. Alice, could you walk a few feet away from us and look in our direction? Make sure you can see the both of us.” Edward requests of her. Alice looks puzzled, but obliges.
“Okay, Ash, can you look through her eyes for a second?”
“Uh, yeah sure.” Ash replies, catching on to what Edward is trying to do. She closes her eyes and pops into Alice’s. She can see herself and Edward from between some trees.
“Alright, I got it.”
“Okay good. Now let me just-” Edward cuts himself off with a gasp.
“I can see what Alice sees. From your mind. I can see us.” He says, a hint of excitement in his voice. “This could be a good strategy for hunting.”
“Yeah, it could be.” Ash says, distracted by her own gift. While what she can see may be fairly boring, her ability to feel emotions is overwhelmed by Alice. Her heart is so full of love for the two that, for the first time, Ash can’t handle feeling two people’s emotions at the same time. Quickly, she cuts the connection and returns to her own body.
“Did-did you feel any of that?” She asks Edward, feeling physically strained from this exercise.
“Feel? I can only see, I can’t ‘feel’ anything when I read someone’s mind. What did you feel?”
“My gift lets me see someone else’s eyes while also feeling their emotions. The emotional response was too much, I had to stop.” Ash says, plopping to the ground to get her bearings. Alice sprints over to the two of them.
“What happened? Are you okay?” She asks, worry flooding her voice.
“I’m alright, I’m alright. I just wasn’t expecting such strong emotions from that.” Ash leans against a tree to relax for a minute. Alice’s face washes over with an embarrassed look.
“I’m sorry. I was just...so happy that you two were getting along…” Alice trails off, covering her face with her hands. Ash laughs.
“It’s alright. It’s not your fault. I’m just not trained enough to handle it yet.” Ash reassures Alice as she stands back up. “Okay, let’s get this show back on the road. I think it’s time for a meal.”
The three of them spend a day hunting for food in the woods. Edward and Ash decide to test out their new strategy by having Alice go ahead and send animals towards them while they wait to trap them. It works out well enough, but the constant use of her power drains Ash of all her energy.
“Sorry, I’m not used to using my power so much. I never really used it back with Jo and Helen.”
“You didn’t use it much? Most vampires use their powers as much as possible in the first 25 years. Then, they usually get bored of it.” Edward says.
“I just...never really had the chance to. It was just us three out there, so there wasn’t much to see really. The only time I ever really used it was when I was training.” Ash mumbles to herself.
“Surely, you must have encountered other vampires, right? You would have used it then.” Edward asks. Ash shakes her head.
“So far, you two are the only other vampires I’ve met other than Jo and Helen. You guys showing up at my cabin was the first time I ever had to try to defend us. Luckily, there didn’t have to be any fight, but…” She trails off.
“But, you still don’t know what to do in case someone malicious does show up.” Edward replies, having heard from her thoughts. Ash nods.
“Well then, we’ll have to teach you then.” Alice pipes up. “We’ve dealt with our fair share of nomads. Usually, you won’t have any problem with other vampires. Those who feed on humans may show up hoping to find some, but will leave if they realize there are none around. Others tend to think that you’re in their territory. That would be the only time you may have to fight someone.” Alice gives a lecture of the ins and outs of fighting other vampires. She lists off reasons another vampire may want to fight, different techniques, and how to thoroughly kill a vampire.
“Do you have any experience with fighting vampires?” Alice asks.
“Uh, Jo and Helen taught me some basics before the end of my time as a newborn, but, that’s about it.” Alice sighs. It’s like they never wanted her to leave the cabin…. Her eyes widen as she thinks of something.
“Wait, have you ever been around humans?”
“Oh, yeah! We have to go into town sometimes to pick things up. The first time was extremely hard on me, but Jo and Helen were there with me so it helped. After a while, I got used to it.” Alice puts her hand to her chin, wanting to ask another question but isn’t sure how to bring it up.
“Have you ever had human blood before?” Edward asks suddenly, startling Alice. After reading her mind, Edward decided it would be best to just outright ask.
“Yes. I had human blood on my first day as a newborn. I didn’t kill anyone for it. I didn’t turn anyone for it, either. Helen gave it to me in a cup. She’s close with the nearest town’s doctor and was able to convince him to give her a pint. After that, we hunted for the first time and they told me all about how animal blood won’t be as satisfying, but it does the job. Trust me, I’m not that secluded from the world. Jo and Helen know a lot and have taught me so much.”
Edward nods and takes a step back, satisfied with her answer, and gestures Alice to continue.
They spend the few days it takes to get to Alaska talking about how to defend yourself against other vampires, stopping every so often to practice together. It’s a long journey but, eventually, they arrive back at the Olympic-Denali coven household. As soon as the enter the door, they’re greeted by Esme, who comes over and brings both Edward and Alice into a big hug.
“Oh, I’m so glad you two are finally home. I’ve missed you guys.” She says, holding them tight.
“Esme, come on. We were only gone for like a week.” Edward says, embarrassed. Esme laughs.
“I know, I know. Everyone was just worried.” She says, as she loosens her grip. Then, she turns to look at Ash.
“Esme, this is Ash.” Edward introduces them. Esme shoots Alice a quick look, and Alice nods in response.
“Hi, It’s nice to meet you.” Ash says, holding out her hand. Instead, Esme pulls her into hug.
“It’s so nice to finally meet you. You’re like a local legend around here.” Esme laughs to herself. Ash giggles back.
“Well, it’s nice to finally put the rumours to rest.”
Then, the rest of the Cullens come bounding towards the door, all ready to greet their family members after the trip. They all huddle together to say their greetings.
“Welcome home, you two.” Says Carlisle, as he wraps an arm around Esme.
“Yeah, we thought you two mighta died out there.” Says Emmett, as he punches Edward in the arm.
“Well, we’re just glad you’re safe.” Says Jasper.
Carlisle turns to their guest. “So, I think we can all guess who this is.”
“Everyone, I’d like you to meet Ash. You may all know her as the infamous Red Haired Girl.” Alice says as she wraps an arm around Ash’s waist. Ash chuckles.
“Funny. In my house, you were Short Haired Girl.” She looks at Alice and smiles.
“So, Ash, this is-”
“Wait. I want to try this myself.” Ash cuts Alice off.
“Let’s see. This-” She points to Carlisle. “- is Carlisle. He’s got his arm around Esme. This-” She points again, this time at Emmett. “- is Emmett. Next to him is Rosalie. And way in the back must be Jasper.” She point once more to Jasper, who’s looking a bit disinterested. Everyone nods in response.
“Well, I see you’ve done your research.” Carlisle says.
“Well, I think Ash and I have a story to tell everyone. Could we move this into the living room?” Alice starts to usher everyone away from the front door and into the living room, where they share their story one more. They explain their visions and their meeting, and talk about what they did at the cabin. They all talk for hours. Soon, the conversation lands back on the ‘local legend’.
“I swear, she thought about you night and day. I would go weeks sometimes only hearing her thinking about finding you, or even just replaying that vision in her head over and over. It was like a broken record sometimes.” Everyone laughs along with Edward’s story as Alice holds her face in embarrassment.
“Well, Edward was the only one who actually knew what you looked like. The rest of us just had to take their words for it.” Rosalie comments. “Honestly, I sometimes thought maybe you weren’t even real.” She laughs to herself.
“Oh, Rosalie. Let’s be fair to Alice, she has been hoping to find her for 59 years.” Carlisle pipes up, placing a comforting hand on Alice’s shoulder.
“Yeah, I got the lucky side of this deal. I’ve only been hoping for 17.” Ash says, grabbing Alice’s hand and squeezing it, hoping to make her feel better.
“How did it happen, anyway?” Jasper cuts in from the other side of the room, silencing everyone.
“Jasper, you can’t just-” Edward’s about to tell Jasper off before Ash cuts it short.
“It’s fine. Do you mean ‘how did I die?’” Jasper nods.
“Well. I was in a car crash. In 1962. My parents and I were driving down country roads in the rain one night. Almost hit a deer. We swerved a little too much to avoid it and landed in a ditch. When Jo and Helen found me, my parents were already dead, but I was still hanging on. Just barely. They decided to give me a second chance.” Ash’s voice lowers as she recounts her past, still fresh in her mind.
“How old were you?” Jasper asks.
“Twenty. Just a few months shy of twenty one.”
“...Sorry.” Jasper puts his head down.
“It’s fine. I have to face it. It happened. Now, I can move on and live different lives.” Ash says, flashing a small smile at Jasper. Quickly, the conversation shifts to a different topic.
When the conversation picks back up and becomes lively once again, Ash gets an idea. She closes her eyes and connects to Jasper for only a second before opening them again. Just long enough to get a hit on his current emotions and to disguise as a blink. In that split second, she noticed a lot of different emotions, none of them positive. The only one she could identify was worry. It was the strongest out of the bunch, thus she picked up on it first.
Edward on the opposite side of the room as them notices the commotion in their thoughts and clues in.
Why does it seem like he’s been hounding me since I got here? What’s going on in that guys head?
Well that’s obvious. Edward thought to himself. He’s extremely protective of Alice.
Jasper’s thoughts, on the other hand, were a different story.
What the hell was that? What the fuck did I just feel? He shoots Ash a look. What gift does she have and why did she just use it on me?
Edward smirks to himself at this new information, and decides to stay silent.
“By the way, Ash, you said you saw a vision of Alice, right?” Jasper speaks up again. Ash turns to him and nods.
“Alice saw you because of her gift. I’m just wondering. What kind of gift do you have? It may seem strange, but, I thought I could feel it just now.” Jasper calls her out.
“Actually, my gift is the ability to see through someone else’s eyes. If you were in the other room, I could describe every inch of it without having ever set foot in it. All from your vision.” Ash replies, turning her body towards him.
“Is that what that was then, you were looking into my eyes?” Jasper accuses.
“Actually, Jasper, the reason I connected with you was to figure out what the hell you were feeling. I can pick up on your emotions as well and I’ll be honest, you’ve been giving me dirty looks all night and I just wanted to know what was going on.” Ash snaps back at him. Alice reaches her hand up and grabs Ash’s arms. A few moments pass without a word said in the room before Jasper stomps over to Ash and grabs her hand, pulling her out of the room. Alice stands up to protest but Edward stops her, reassuring that they’ll be fine.
Jasper pulls her into another room and slams the door shut. Then, he takes a second to calm himself down, which by proxy also calms Ash down.
“Listen. Alice has been looking for you since the day she turned almost 60 years ago. I’ve been with her almost since day one. I love her to death and I couldn’t imagine how she would feel after finally finding you. Forgive me for being skeptical, but, I can’t help but keep her best interest in mind.” Jasper explains to her while pacing the room.
“Jasper. I know. I know about how you and Alice were together before joining the Cullens. I know how close you are because she talked about you so much. I know how much you care about each other, so I can understand why you were worried. You have to remember. I’ve been looking for her, too. Maybe not as long, but I had those same feeling she did. The worry, the hope. Everything she felt, I did too. Not just her, but all of you. I saw all of you in my vision. Your feelings are completely justified because if I was on your side of this equation, I would be scared too.”
Jasper sighs. He walks over to Ash and grabs her hand into his.
“I know the love you two share. I know you’re not going to hurt her. From the moment you two walked in the door, I could feel the joy radiating off of the both of you. I just want Alice to be happy and safe. I know now that with you, she will be.” Jasper shows a small smile before letting go of her hands. Then, Ash puts one out for a handshake.
“Let’s start over. Hi, I’m Ash.”
Jasper chuckles and grasps the hand with his. “I’m Jasper. It’s a pleasure to finally meet you.”
The two of them share a laugh. Ash closes her eyes and connects to Alice.
“We should get back. Alice is so worried, I think she might explode.” She says.
“Whoa.” Jasper clutches at his chest.
“Hey, you alright?” Ash asks as she cuts the tie with Alice. Jasper let’s go and stands up straight.
“I think...I think I felt what Alice was feeling. Through you.” He says. “Hey, try someone else.”
Ash obliges and connects to Esme. Her heart is also filled with worry, but it’s mixed together with the overwhelming love she has for her family.
“Whoa. Okay, that much love and worry in one place? That’s gotta be Esme.” Jasper says, taken aback by the force of her emotions.
“Yup. She’s got a lot of love packed inside of her.” Ash opens her eyes and cuts the connection. “So, uh, that’s pretty cool. Edward can see the visuals, you can feel the emotions.” Ash comments as she stares at nothing and gets lost in her own mind, thinking of ways that this information could benefit them. Jasper grins.
“This could be useful for fighting…” He trails off as does the same. They stand there in silence for a moment, lost in thought, before Jasper snaps out of it.
“Hey, we should get back out there. They’ll be worried.”
“Oh! Right.” Ash opens the door and steps out.
As they both turn the corner, Alice’s eyes lock on to the both of them, hoping to figure out what happened in there. The two of them laugh together before joining the rest of the group, and the weight lifts off of Alice’s chest as she sees them acting friendly. As Ash approaches, Alice grabs her arm.
“How did it go?” She asks quietly. Ash chuckles
“It went great. Things are fine now.” Ash smiles widely at Alice, hoping to reassure her. Alice sighs in relief and smiles back.
The hours pass as they all talk together, laughing and joking like they’ve known Ash for years. When night falls, people start to split off to do their own things, and eventually it’s down to just Carlisle and Esme together with Alice and Ash.
“So, I think it’s safe to say you two are mates, am I right?” Esme asks.
Alice and Ash share a look and nod to each other.
“Yeah, I think we are.” Alice replies.
“Then, where do you two go from here?” Carlisle cuts in, looking concerned. “It’s hard for mates to stay away from each other after they’ve found one another. Ash, you have a family in Canada, right?”
“Yes, I do.” Ash answers.
“Have you thought about what would happen in this situation?” He asks. Ash thinks for a moment.
“No, not really. At least, we didn’t talk about it…” She trails off.
“How about you, Alice?” Esme asks.
“No, I haven’t either. Because this is my family. I couldn’t ever imagine leaving you all.” Alice says with a confident look on her face, that then subsides when she realizes what’s at stake here. She looks down at Ash who is still lost in thought. “What about you?”
“I...I love Jo and Helen. They taught me everything about this new situation I’ve found myself in and raised me to become who I am right now. But...I hate myself for even saying this. I think I belong here. In the Olympic coven. When I saw you all in my vision, you felt like family to me. Then, I actually met you all, and it was like seeing an old friend for the first time in years. And, I didn’t want to let go of that. I still don’t.” Ash rants for a while, trying to make sense of her feelings as the words spill out of her mouth. After she finishes, Carlisle nods.
“I think I can speak for most of us when I say that we all felt the same way as well. I truly believe you belong here with us. But, there is no rush. It’s your choice.” Carlisle says as he stands up and grabs Esme’s hand, leading the two of them out of the room to let Ash and Alice talk.
Ash leans back in her chair and sighs loudly.
“You know, I can come live with you too.” Alice says, hoping to break some of the tension. Ash shakes her head.
“No. Alice, I’ve already made up my mind. I want to be here. I really do think I belong here with you. I’m just trying to figure out how to tell Jo and Helen.” Ash sighs again. Alice leans over and kisses her, grabbing her hand and squeezing it in the process. When Alice pulls away, she smiles.
“Just remember, you don’t have to do it alone. I’m here now.”
Ash smiles widely and grabs Alice’s face, pulling her in for another kiss.
“We’ll come up with a plan.” Alice mumbles against Ash’s lips. She pulls away. “Remember, we still have a week to think about it.” Ash grins at Alice’s reassurance.
“Come on.” Alice says, standing up and grabbing Ash’s hand. “I still haven’t shown you my room.”
Ash smiles again as she’s pulled along by Alice up the stairs.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The week goes by quicker than Ash thought it would, and if she had any doubts about her decision to stay with the Cullens, they were gone before she could make it back to her own place.
With a few hugs from the Cullens, Ash and Alice head out the door to return to Alberta for what may be the last time.
Time passes, and soon enough, they arrive at the little cabin in the woods. When they get to the door, Ash stops for a second to compose herself.
“You alright?” Alice asks, wrapping her arm around the other’s waist and pulling her close.
“Yeah, I think so. This might be the hardest conversation I’ve ever had to have.” Ash sighs, trying to muster up the courage to open up the door. After a few deep breaths, she puts her hand on the knob and twists.
“Guys! I’m ho-” Ash cuts herself off in surprise.
“Ash?” Alice walks in beside her.
On the floor next to the door are 4 suitcases, stacked up and open, revealing the contents inside. Clothes, trinkets, books, etc. All items that belong to Ash.
    “What...the fuck?” Ash thinks aloud.
“Surprised ya, didn’t we?” Helen’s voice can be heard as she steps into the room with a smirk on her face, Jo trailing behind.
“What is all this?” Ash asks, unable to process what she sees in front of her.
“Sweetie, it’s your stuff. Pack and ready for the big move. Our little birdie is finally leaving the nest!” Helen turns to Jo as she says this last line and wipes away a fake tear from her eye.
    “How...did you know?”
“Ash, it ain’t that hard to figure out. You and Alice are mates. You two would never want to be separated ever again after finding each other. And the way that you spoke about the Cullens in your vision made it all the more obvious to us. They’re your family.” Jo speaks up from the back.
“But, what about you guys? I mean, you basically raised me from my second birth. You’re both okay with this?”
“Well, of course we are! Ash, we love you. As they saying goes ‘If you love something, you gotta let it go.’ It’s time to let you go, sweetie. Besides, it’s not like you can’t come visit us!” Helen replies enthusiastically, with a giant grin on her face. Ash turn to Alice, a soft smile on her face.
“Well, that was easier than I thought it would be.” She laughs. Ash walks to Helen and Jo and gives them both a big hug. “Thank you. For everything.”
“Now, come on Ash, you’re not leaving yet! Stay for a while and we can all have a chat.” Jo waves them all into the kitchen where they sit at the island and talk for hours. When the sun starts to set, they know that time is now up.
Ash and Alice stand at the door, carrying Ash’s suitcases. They turn back to Jo and Helen, and give them a nod, before heading off towards their future, together with the Olympic coven.

Wonder Woman Fic: Pick a Star on the Dark Horizon and Follow the Light
Post-movie Diana/WonderTrev angst. “Perhaps one of the greatest tragedies of all is that Diana doesn't really learn about Steve Trevor's life until after his death.”
A/N: Definitely movie canon only, as I’m not super familiar with the comics, but I couldn’t not write this. Please forgive if there’s anything wildly OOC.
Also, big props to @blueincandescence, who made this amazing post about what Steve’s childhood might have looked like, which was an immense help in kicking off my own research.
Title from “The Call” by Regina Spektor.
Pick a Star on the Dark Horizon and Follow the Light (AO3)
Perhaps one of the greatest tragedies of all is that Diana doesn't really learn about Steve Trevor's life until after his death.
The details come in rapid, heartrending bursts in the weeks following the end of the war, but the dull ache in her chest is ever-present. There’s not a morning that she rises that she doesn’t think about his head on the pillow next to hers, not a night that she lies down to rest that she doesn’t long for his solid weight on the mattress beside her.
She had teased him, that night in Veld. They’d been halfway through disrobing, lips only parting when it became physically necessary, and she had smiled against his mouth, recalling something he told her on their first night together.
“So, Steve Trevor, this is what you meant when you said you’ve slept with women.”
His cheeks flushed red but it only made his eyes look bluer when they flicked back up at her. “Like I said, it's something of a euphemism.”
“You've slept with many women?” Jealousy, like some kind of acid, began to creep up her throat at the thought, and she was ashamed by the selfish, and hypocritical, impulse.
“Not many.” He smirked, and that burn hit her lower, making her fingertips flex against his bare chest. “And definitely none like you, Diana.”
Empirically, she knew it was the truth, but the way he said her name, soft like the flickering candlelight, reverent like a prayer, made her eyes slip closed. When she raised her head to the sky on instinct, his lips traced down her throat and across her clavicle and she lost herself in the flood of sensation. The only rational thought that remained in her mind was how foolish it would be to waste another moment of their precious time together.
Sammy, Charlie, and Chief stay in London for longer than Diana expects, given their various lines of work. They call it “celebrating the spoils of war,” but their tone isn't cheerful, grim visages incongruous with the happy, patriotic relief displayed proudly across the city. There’s no joy in a victory that came with so great a loss.
They spend most nights drinking too much at seedy establishments, and most nights Diana joins them, watching as they trade liquor for blood and listening as they tell her their most bombastic tales of Steve Trevor.
Charlie drains his glass and waves at the bar, forgetting that he’s already ordered another. “I once saw ‘im flip a tank with two perfectly-timed shots.”
Sammy’s hat is cocked too far to the side, and it tips further when he swings around to face her. Since Steve’s death, he’s been drinking his doubles like Charlie does, fast and without any kind of relish. “Not as impressive as the way you do it, my dear.”
“I once saw him row a sinking canoe upstream for 12 miles,” Chief mumbles with a smirk that makes its way around the table.
“I once saw him French kiss a duchess.”
“I tho’ it was a czarina.”
“It was both.” Etta sets down a tray in the middle of the table and everyone takes their next round with a mumble of woozy thanks. “And before anyone else goes blaspheming, remember, both were for a mission, only one was engaged, and, somewhat mercifully, they were not in the same night.”
“He was a legend with the ladies,” Sammy declares with a lecherous smirk that twitches in an odd way when it lands on her. “Bien sur, none like you, Diana darling.”
“Yes,” she admits. “He told me that.” Everyone but Charlie lets out that polite little laugh that tells her she’s said something not quite right.
“S’a a good thing he did,” the Scotsman burps. “An’ not just because you're a goddess or wha’ever. S’important to say things that need to be said.”
Charlie's sudden solemnity seems to draw the melancholy out of the others and soon, without realizing, they’re all looking at her with the same sad eyes.
“It's true.” Etta says softly, after a long moment, and Diana’s heart twists again at the tears in her voice. “You never know when it’s your last good chance.”
She and Sammy haul Charlie home not long after that, and Diana's left at the table with Chief and a half-full glass of what she knows to be whiskey, but doesn’t like any better as she becomes more familiar. He's always the quietest of the bunch, and since Steve’s death, that’s only fueled her suspicion that he might have the most to tell her.
Thankfully, she doesn't have to wait very long. Perhaps he’s already learned his lesson about saying things that need to be said.
“When Steve sent for me, the first thing I asked was why in the hell he was so eager to get to the front of the war.” Chief's candor makes her grin, but his next statement makes her stomach drop. “He told me about you.”
“I promised to get him off the island, he promised to take me to Ares.” Diana remembers, with a cold twist of regret. How eager she had been to get to the front, how stupidly naive about the ways of war.
“No, he told me about you,” the man corrects. “About where you came from, how you fought, how you saved him. He said you were like nothing he’d ever seen.”
Surprise and heartbreak flood her chest at the admission, and a memory it conjures. “He said the same thing about the war.”
Chief just carries on with his tale, unaware of her inner turmoil. “He also told me he got some of your people killed. Said he owed you.”
“No.” She sucks in a breath. “No, that wasn’t his fault.” Diana recalls the words Steve told her on the beach, the look in his eyes when she was pleading with the gods for Antiope’s life. “He was one of the good guys.”
“He said that?” The man lifts his head to meet her gaze, and she can see his question is a serious one. “I didn’t know he still believed there were good guys.”
Diana realizes that Chief had known a different side of Steve entirely, one it seems he hardly ever showed. She thinks it’s probably the same one that had pleaded for her help on the air tower that night, the one who tried to warn her how terrible a world it would be it everyone only got what they deserved.
“He was good,” she insists, like she would if he were here, if she could hold his face in her hands so he’d see the truth in her eyes. “He was noble and brave and gave his life to save so many. What more can a man do, to be good?” Chief just nods, looking at her like she’s said more about herself than Steve with the insistent, almost frantic words.
“He used to say that bravery is decided by whoever’s in power, but loyalty is the measure of a man,” he recalls. “And he was the most loyal man I’ve ever known.”
From the corner of her eye, Diana sees the barkeep give the signal to clear out. It makes her chest ache, like she’s leaving something behind.
“My father was a soldier, too,” Steve had revealed, stretching across her to lay his watch on the bedside table. He set the memento down, but didn’t pull his body back to his side of the undersized inn bed, crowding her with a heavy arm draped across her ribcage and a smile pressed to her collarbone. She wanted him again, but she also wanted to know more.
“Who did he fight for?”
This question made him stiffen in her arms, and she almost regretted it. When he looked up to meet her eyes, she saw them swirling with pride and pain. “7th Cavalry, United States Army,”
“And then, when the war was over, he had breakfast and babies?”
The corners of his mouth twitched at that, despite the anguish she could see etched across his face. “Not exactly. He had the babies, sure, but the war never really ended.” It had been so clear to her then, why Steve’s belief in Ares’ power consisted solely of the trust he was placing in her. “See, Sergeant Charles Trevor was a career soldier, and he fought for what he believed in… Eventually, it killed him.”
Diana’s heart clenched painfully at the thought of the devastation that must have caused him as a younger man, a boy even. She knew the soldier in front of her could take care of himself, but she found herself wanting to protect him and fight at his side in almost equal measure.
Her most immediate desire, however, had been putting that blissful expression back on his beautiful face. “What do you believe in, Steve Trevor?”
He had taken a deep breath in then, and pursed his lips, like he was battling the lasso of Hephaestus. But when he exhaled, his whole body loosened, and he looked up at her with freedom on his face. “I believe in love.”
She has tea with Etta one day, not long after her talk with Chief, and in between cups, the secretary asks her to go to a place called Ohio, and meet Steve’s mother.
“I've got his uniform out of storage,” she says by way of explanation, as Diana tries to swallow around the bite of finger sandwich that’s suddenly stuck in her throat. “He never gave them her address, because, well, counterintelligence and all that. So they sent the Medal of Honor and Victoria Cross to his London office.”
Etta digs into her purse and pulls out a piece of bronze with a red and green ribbon, handing it over for Diana to see. “The French sent over a Croix du Guerre as well, which is nice of them, I suppose. So I’ve uh…I’ve got those too.”
“What does any of this have to do with Steve’s mother?” Diana’s stuck on the idea, one that hadn’t occurred to her until now, that there might be a woman, out there in the world of men, who understands what it is to miss him like this. Perhaps even more.
“Well, it’s a military tradition of sorts,” the secretary explains. “Returning a fallen soldier’s honors to his next of kin. A wife or a mother, usually. Don’t your people...”
“We don’t have marriage.” Diana remembers Steve telling her about standing in front of a judge, about breakfast and reading the newspaper and promising each other forever. “And I was the only Amazon to have an earthly mother.”
“Who, by the way, I would love to meet someday,” Etta muses, so cheerfully that Diana almost forgets it’s an impossibility, turning over the spiked medal in her hands and seeing the glint off of his family name.
“This is how the world of men celebrates the deaths of their bravest.” It’s not really a question, but Etta nods. “Parades and confetti and scraps of bronze tied up with bows.”
“It's all very ceremonial,” Etta agrees at first, before sucking a breath in through her teeth. “But it's not really about celebrating how he died, is it? They're medals for honor and bravery, selflessness in the line of duty. It's more about how he lived.”
With each day they spend together, Diana comes to see more and more of the reasons that Steve trusted the secretary among his closest counterparts. And friends too, Diana muses. She's never had a friend like Etta Candy.
“Anyway,” the woman continues. “Won't be a long trip, we’ll be back before the new year. London at the holidays was Steve’s favorite. Ridiculous man, always loved the snow.”
There's so much still to learn about Steve Trevor, Diana feels a rush of nostalgic relief to hear something she already knows. That night, she dreams of snowflakes getting stuck in his eyelashes.
It's a long boat ride to America, much longer than their trip from Themyscira. Perhaps it just feels that way without his company. It's gloomy and freezing for the entirety of their journey and on the fourth day, she's just about to go stir-crazy in the shared state room when Etta digs into her bag and shoves a box wrapped in red paper into her hands.
“Happy early Christmas, Diana.”
She's aware of the significance of the impending Pagan holiday, but confused all the same by her friend's gesture.
“No, Etta, I cannot accept this.” It seems right to protest, though she knows the woman well enough by now to understand it won’t work. “I did not get you anything in return.”
“It's gift enough, not to have to this make this trip alone.” The sincere words are framed with a sad smile. “Besides, to be honest, I didn't really get it for you. It's, um -- it’s Steve’s present.”
Diana's vision blurs and her heads lists to the side, unable to see past his name written on the tag, barely hearing as the other woman explains, “I thought I might give it to his mother, but really, you should have it.”
She peels back the paper and opens the small box. Inside, nestled in tissue, is a blown glass figure, delicate and intricate and beautiful.
“We always joked about getting an office Christmas tree,” Etta explains, “but we usually weren't in one place long enough to make things festive.”
It’s a woman, dressed in a flowing gown, with wings lIke Hermes’ blossoming from her back. A simple thing, really, but it takes her breath away.
“It’s fitting in a way, isn’t it?” Etta muses when Diana remains silent. “You did pluck him from the ocean, after all.”
“Angel...” Steve's voice came almost as a whisper, but filled the silence of the room in Veld. They were tangled up in each other, catching their breaths for the third or fourth time since he shut the door behind him. “I think you must be an angel.”
“You know that I’m not.” Their faces rested so close on the pillow that her lips nearly brushed his as she spoke. “I told you, Zeus--”
“I know, I know, you're the greatest piece of pottery in human history.” This time he was teasing her, but as he nuzzled at her nose, warm hand running up and down her side, she found she doesn't mind at all. “But hear me out, okay? You come from the heavens. You pull me out of the sea, save my life. You protect humankind. Sounds like an angel to me.”
She could have corrected him again, but she decided to kiss him instead. The hours were ticking away on his father's watch and soon it would be time to fight again.
When their feet finally touch land in New York City, there’s barely time to enjoy it. Next up is a train to Cleveland and then a long ride to the Trevor family farm.
Diana knocks at the front door first, impatient for their journey to see its purpose through, and annoyed at the nerves that have begun fluttering around her stomach. But when it swings open, Etta has to take the lead. Diana freezes in her tracks, because another thing she never knew about Steve Trevor is that he got his eyes from his mother.
“Mrs. Trevor...” Etta begins, but instead of a reply, she gets wrapped up in a bear hug. Diana expects the bitter kind of breakdown that she’s watched for weeks as ships came back to harbor with less men than they departed. But there’s a soft smile on the woman's face that makes her tears look something less than tragic.
“It’s good to see you again, Etta.” She even sounds a little like Steve, the same dialect, same warmth. “Really, it is.”
“I’m sorry it has to be like this.” There are tears in Etta’s voice too as she nods, stepping inside at the other woman's insistence before turning back to the door. “Diana, this is Sarah Trevor. Mrs. Trevor, this is--”
“Diana.” She extends a hand, which Steve's mother shakes with the same smile and only the slightest hesitation. “Diana Prince.”
It's the name she'd given Etta a week or two earlier, when the secretary explained how she'd need a verifiable identity in order to do things like take a boat across the Atlantic. She's not sure why she sticks with the moniker at first, until she realizes it's one of the things she'll always be able to remember about Steve Trevor, how he sounded when he said her name.
“It's nice to meet you, Diana.” The woman releases her hand with a quick squeeze, and then turns back. “And Etta, please, I’ve told you. Call me Sarah.”
“I'm sorry... for your loss.” Diana’s heard the stilted words passed back and forth amongst strangers since the end of the war. It seems to be what one says under the circumstances, and somehow, suddenly, it becomes the only thing she can find within her own grief. “I'm so, so sorry.”
Steve’s mother turns back to her then, and gives her a long, discerning look. It’s almost too much to bear. She’s seen those eyes in her dreams almost every night since the war ended, she’d know them anywhere. “My dear, that's kind of you to say but it's certainly unnecessary.”
“I should have stopped him.” Now she can’t seem to turn the words off. She's revisited that night a thousand times in her mind, futilely perfecting a thousand different strategies where Steve got to live. “I’m so sorry, I didn’t realize what he was planning and I should have... I should have stopped him.”
“Diana--” Etta's right to warn her, she's spinning out a little and getting dangerously close to details she shouldn’t be sharing. But Sarah Trevor just shakes her head with a smile and takes Diana's hands in her own.
“See now, if you knew my Stevie at all, then you know there wasn’t going to be any stopping him.” It's the truth, and Diana takes what feels like her first deep breath in months, trying to smile back.
She follows his mother's eyes over to the fireplace, where there are a few framed photographs displayed on the mantle. One is the same picture from the victory parade in London, Steve grinning next to his plane. Diana battles the urge to cross the room and run her fingers over it as Sarah continues.
“Mothers of soldiers spend their lives dreading the call.” Diana thinks briefly of her own mother, remembers Hippolyta's words about her greatest joy and sorrow. “Mothers of spies just hope they'll be lucky enough to get one.”
“I should have stopped him…”
Etta mercifully saves her from her reverie, interrupting cautiously. “So, Sarah, how's the farm been?”
“Doing pretty well,” she answers, without turning to face the question. “We were back to top yield last summer, which is a good sign.”
Diana crosses to the window, where a half-melted white candle sits in a dish on the sill. She can see for what seems like miles across the rows of tilled earth, frozen and capped with white.
“Winter wheat,” Steve’s mother explains behind her. “Not much to look at until springtime. My brother-in-law runs the farm and the mill, his house is across the field.”
“That is important work.” Diana turns back to see she's being studied by both women in the room. “Something to be proud of.”
“Stevie always was,” Sarah nods, joining Diana at the window. Her hair is more grey than brown and the lines on her face might be from worry or laughter, but she's undoubtedly beautiful. Diana can't help but look for Steve in every part of her. “He’d ride his bike a half-mile across the way every morning before the sun came up, work the fields after school, and ride back at sunset.”
“In the summertime, when it was time to cut, he’d be over there all day long,” she continues, grinning blindly at the glass, at the memories of time long past. “I wouldn’t be able to see him across the field, the wheat was so high. But I could always hear him on his way home. He’d stand up on the pedals and stretch his arms out, calling to me as he got closer, ‘Mom! I’m on the wind!’”
Diana smiles and turns back to the mantle with her head swirling in a hundred different directions. Next to Steve’s army photo is a different man in uniform, a man she recognizes immediately, even though she's never seen him before.
“My boy was born and bred to be soldier, but I always knew he’d be a hero,” his mother recalls, when she sees what’s drawn Diana’s attention. “He loved frontiersman, pirate kings, dime novel detectives… But his biggest inspiration of all was--”
“Sergeant Charles Trevor.” Sarah falters only slightly when the name leaves Diana’s lips and then she blinks, looking at her like she’s seeing her anew, nodding softly in confirmation.
Diana looks again at the photo on the mantle. Steve may have gotten his eyes from his mother, but the crinkle in his brow, the good-natured smirk, and the debonair jawline were all from this man, standing proud with a rifle strapped across his back. He fought for what he believed in, she remembers. Eventually, it killed him.
“One day, Charles came back early from the front, beat all to hell.” Sarah's voice changes tone then, and when Diana looks up, she’s watching the front door. “He had ridden all the way home from South Dakota on his own, and it us took a while to put together what had happened. My little boy didn't say a word for a whole two weeks when he found out that his daddy was a deserter.”
The Amazons don’t speak such a word, but having witnessed the horrors of war in the world of man firsthand, Diana thinks she may be forming a new perspective on military obedience.
“Stevie didn’t understand what happened at Wounded Knee until some time later, and by then, his father had already given up on this world.” Diana thinks of Steve’s sad eyes, then of Chief’s words. It seems every death in the world of man is more tragic than the next. “The guilt derailed Charles for good, but it only pushed Stevie forward. He was always saying, ‘If you see something wrong happening in the world, you can do nothing, or you can do something.’”
“He said his father taught him that.” Despite what Steve had told her the night they met, Diana still can't imagine him taking the passive way out of any conflict. “He couldn't do nothing.”
“His father may have taught him the difference, but my boy never did ‘nothing’ a day in his life.” Sarah tells them with conviction that’s laced with a little exasperation. “He came home from his first day of secondary school with a fat lip and a story about a cripple boy who was getting picked on. Then it was a tribe that needed help, then an army that needed guidance, then a world that needed saving.”
“He was a hero,” Diana tells her, certain that a woman as bright as Sarah Trevor must surely know it by now. “He was a great man, and I…”
It's almost the first time she says it aloud, and she hears Etta swallow a gasp. “I’m sorry every day that he’s gone.”
If Steve’s mother senses the truth that’s threatened to spill out of her, she doesn't let on. In fact, she just smiles again, letting Diana see the best of him in her likeness. “Thank you dear,” she says, reaching up to brush away an errant hair. “But he's not gone. The wheat will grow high next summer, and I'll hear him from across the field. He's on the wind.”
Diana reaches up to touch at the wet corners of her eyes then, and when the sleeve of her jacket pulls down a little, something catches Sarah’s eyes. Oh. Of course.
“You should have this,” Diana fiddles with the clasp, her wrist instantly feeling more vulnerable without the timepiece or her gauntlets. “He told me about it, gave it to me to keep safe, just before…”
Her words and movements stop with a gentle hand that closes her palm around the watch, pressing it back towards her chest. It brings back a memory so strong, Diana’s knees almost buckle.
“If he gave it to you, dear, then he meant for you to have it,” Steve’s mother assures her with a meaningful look. “My son didn't part easily with the things that he loved.”
“Is it always this quiet when it snows?” It was in the space between very late night and very early morning when she sat halfway up to pull back the curtains and look out the window at the town square, which appeared far too serene for the war zone it had been just hours earlier. “Does it always feel there isn't a soul around for miles?”
“Is it quiet?” Steve was prone on the bed, dozing off but still grabbing for any part of her he could reach. When she looked back at him, the biggest grin split across his face. “I can't hear anything over my heart pounding in my ears.”
Diana flopped back down beside him with a full-bodied laugh that tapered off when she pressed her forehead to his. “Is it always like this?”
“When it snows?” She had nodded in agreement, despite the fact that her eyes were telling him something else entirely. In return, his told her everything she needed to know. He couldn’t promise her anything but one night, they both knew that. But maybe it was enough that he wanted to.
“It could be.” Steve’s smile matched her own and so she pressed them together, swiping her tongue across his lower lip. She didn’t ever want to stop teasing him, didn’t ever want to stop tasting him. But she knew the sun would be rising soon.
“And what happens in the morning?”
“In the morning...” he started softly, and she didn’t miss the way his gaze flickered dark before settling back on her. Time was nearly up. “In the morning, we have breakfast, and we read the newspaper, and then--”
She almost wanted him to lie to her, but she knew that he wouldn’t. “Then it’s back to the war.”
The sun is setting over the farmhouse in the distance when they step back outside, leaving Mrs. Trevor with another firm hug apiece and a promise to return someday that Diana hopes isn’t an empty one.
As they walk toward the waiting car, her footsteps slow, physically unwilling to leave this place that has memories of Steve in its bones, this place that had been the reason for so much of who he was. For miles around her, the fields are draped in white, but Diana can picture them in the summertime, golden grain high enough that Sarah Trevor would barely be able to spot her son's hair -- the color of chaff -- over the tops of the stalks.
A cold breeze picks up and Diana’s hit with a feeling so familiar, she can’t help but close her eyes and turn her head towards the sky. She’s done this countless times before, but it's never felt like it does this time, and she knows why.
Time will pass, and things will change, but Steve will always be with her. For the next hundred years, and then on after that. He's on the wind.

hi, mo! i love the list of prompts you put together for your drabble game! if it hasn't been requested yet, can i please have jaebum + #47? thank you
Tumblr media
“Meet me on the roof in ten minutes.” // 047 out of 050Im Jaebum (GOT7)*my apologies, this may have gotten lengthy lol
Your magic is off.You have no explanation as to why, you just feel it.
But you were growing more and more nervous as the nights went on, the sky thundering on the horizon as the clouds rested over the city.
The weather had been going crazy these past few weeks, sudden rain or snow, even though it was the middle of spring. Cherry blossoms weren’t blooming and oak trees were still bare. The ocean’s water was still too cold and leaves weren’t changing colors.
You slam your fists against the railing of your balcony, only slightly concerned about the neighbors maybe waking up. With your magic on the fritz, everything around you was being affected.
Not to mention you were more exhausted than usual, dark circles under your eyes and your body weak as it leaned against the cool metal. You let out an exasperated sigh, eyes falling shut as another thunder clap sounded towards the mountains.
If this kept up, you were unsure of what was going to happen next.
When a voice sounds in your head, your shoulders tense even though your eyes remained closed.
“Meet me on the roof in ten minutes.”
The voice was deep and had an air of amusement to it, something you’ve grown to love over the years. You didn’t bother with the ten minutes, you were never good with orders, so you bound up the staircase and throw open the door to your building’s roof.
“I said ten minutes. Eighty years and you still can’t follow simple instructions.”
You grin at Im Jaebum as he turns to you, mask covering half of his face as he stuffs his hands into the pockets of his favorite black leather jacket. You walk towards him, legs wobbly, as raindrops start to fall. Surprise is evident on his face, eyes shooting upwards as water descends.
In a matter of seconds, his eyes start to glow, the emerald green color intensifying as his magic moves through him and then outwards. The rain keeps pouring but he’s created a sort of dome around you both, untouched by the change in weather. You wince when his eyes meet yours, questions no doubt scurrying through his mind.
“You wanna explain why it’s March and it’s raining?”
You shrug, toying with your hair, “Spring showers?”
“Yah. Spring showers don’t usually come with flood warnings. What’s going on? I leave for a month to see Jackson in Macau and suddenly this? Mark hyung called and said I should maybe come home and check on you.”
Silently, you curse Mark for ratting you out, words caught on your tongue as you try and form sentences. You stare at him and he just waits patiently, eyes burning holes into your already flushed skin.
“My magic Jae. I don’t know. It’s been weird lately. Simple things like spells sure, I can cast no problem. But the bigger the use of magic, the more weak my body feels. I can’t even mutter a strong incantation without getting dizzy and an immediate hail storm in Busan.”
His brows furrow together and you know that under his mask, his lips are set into a thin line. “Why didn’t you call me?”
You snort, arms crossing over your chest, “Im Jaebum. I’m one the most powerful enchantresses anyone has ever seen in the last three centuries. One that doesn’t need to go crying to her almighty warlock of a boyfriend. I thought it was nothing. I didn’t see a need to make you rush all the way back here, especially since you haven’t seen Jackson since he moved away. But now that you are back, and now that you see my problem, just help me fix it.”
The last bit came out in a sort of whine and you begrudgingly noted how an amused look passed his face.
“Well, since you asked nicely.”“Don’t be an ass. A solution please.”“I’m sure Jinyoung has one. And I’m sure, once we visit, he’ll be irritated you didn’t come to him right away. He’s busy training Yugyeom to better control his magic but you know he’d drop it all to come help you.”“I didn’t want to be a burden.”
He grabs your hand, fingers warm against your ice cold digits. You can feel how worried he is, especially now that’s he’s gotten a better look at you. Magic or not, you could always read Im Jaebum.
“You’re never a burden love. Now come on, hold tight.”
You quickly nod, letting him support your weight as his arms wrap around you. You could feel his magic, feel it moving through him like slow waves as it started to wash over you. Your skin prickles as the magic strengthens and you don’t need to look up to know Jaebum’s eyes are glowing, like they do everytime he taps into his abilities. It was like a well, stored up and waiting until it’s needed. His chest expands as he channels the magic outward and before you know it, you’re in front of Jinyoung’s small home in the countryside.
Teleportation was so convenient.
Slowly, you let go, careful to not get too dizzy. With your body feeling weaker than usual, you didn’t want anyone unnecessarily worrying from your ‘I worry about absolutely everything’ boyfriend.
“Noona!”
You’re lifted into the air, Yugyeom’s strong arms strong but gentle enough not to crush you. You let out a soft laugh, running your fingers through the maknae’s hair in hello. Jinyoung comes out then, glasses perched on his nose, eyes scanning the pages of his immensely thick and heavy grimoire.
“Kim Yugyeom. Until you’ve mastered your basic spells and incantations, don’t go running…oh. Annyeong noona. Hyung. What brings you by?”
Jaebum wordlessly makes eye contact with Jinyoung and you know they’re speaking without actually opening their mouths. Telepathy took years to master, it was actually one of the harder abilities, but both Jaebum and Jinyoung had been reading each other’s thoughts since they were children.
You watch Jinyoung’s eyes widen just a fraction, darting to you and then back to his book. He turns back towards the house, throwing a ‘come in’ over his shoulder. Yugyeom follows, muttering something about telepathy not being fair, and Jaebum goes in after you.
“So you’re the reason the weather has been so weird noona.”
Your cheeks heat up, the room starting to slightly shake. Yugyeom’s brows shoot up into his hair and Jaebum just sighs, sudden emerald eyes quieting everything down. Jinyoung observes you carefully, hands wrapped around the grimoire as you slightly sip the tea he had given you.
“In all my years I’ve never seen your magic be anything but perfect. Have you done anything or eaten something that maybe is somehow affected your abilities?”
You shake your head, “No. Nothing is different. I was in Jihae maybe a week or so ago and when I got back…that’s when I noticed. The weather. My exhaustion. I can’t even do simple spells Jinyoungie.”
“What were you doing in Jihae?”
Jaebum’s voice surprises you, eyes meeting his, “I was visiting Jiyeon. She said she had some herbs that help with the enhancement of location spells and I figured I’d pick some up. You had already left for Macau.”
“And nothing weird happened?”
You think for a moment, “…no. Well…she had a guest in her shop but we barely exchanged more than ten words. She was just a halmeoni that runs a flower shop down the street. She gave me peonies that I stuck in the kitchen.”
Jinyoung’s head snapped up then, pupils dilating, “She gave you flowers?”
“Ne. They’re lilac.”
He turns to Jaebum, expression panicked, “Hyung, I need to see those flowers.”
“Echorpus Felis?”
Jinyoung nods, a grave look on his face as the last of the flower petals burn up. There’s a mark on your windowsill, a strange twisted carving embedded in the wood. Jaebum is outside making calls while Yugyeom played with Nora in the living room, practicing a transfer spell with her cat toys.
“Echorpus Felis. It’s a very old spell, much older than even you noona. It’s used to strip a person of their magic. Slowly until said person is dead. Without magic, we return to dust. Whoever that halmeoni was, it was no coincidence that you met in the shop. By giving you the flowers, she was able to start eating away at your abilities until your magic was completely gone. And you’re one of the most powerful enchantresses anyone has ever seen. Your magic is strong and fierce. But it was draining so fast. That halmeoni, if she was one, must be equal in strength as well, if not more so.”
You sigh, hands running through your hair as you sat at your dining room table. The mark, burnt black, could still be seen from where you were seated, it’s dangerous intent hissing at you the longer your eyes remained on it.
“Someone tried to take my magic. Why? And how do I regain what’s already been lost?”
He pinches the bridge of his nose, a fist clenched at his sides, “I don’t know noona. I’ve never dealt with this before, in all my years alive.”
“Her magic isn’t gone. It was stolen.”
Two pairs of eyes land on Yugyeom, his attention still on the cat. “What do you mean Gyeom-ah?”
He turns towards you, “The mark. In the middle of the signet, there’s a tree. The Alishan Sacred Tree. There’s an old Tawainese legend I read about, where a human wanted to steal the powers of a very powerful witch living up in the mountains above her town. She hated how unfair it was, that a witch had powers and stayed up in her mountain while the villagers struggled daily. So she vowed to take the magic and use them. She traveled to the tree and it granted her a wish. She was able to take the witch’s magic after offering some food to her. But once the witch found out, enraged, she took back her magic.”
Your eyes widened, “How?”
“She killed the human,” whispered Jinyoung, “I remember that legend. She proved that, even without her magic, she was a capable person. So the tree took the wish back and transferred the magic to who it thought was stronger. Yugyeom. You read that?”
He snorted, “I read hyung, okay?”
“….I can’t kill someone!”
Jaebum entered then, removing his hood and shaking off the water from the rainstorm you caused outside when you had all teleported home. Four other bodies entered after, faces familiar as they came into the light of your apartment.
“Mark. Jackson. Youngjae. BamBam. You’re all supposed to be scattered across the globe. Don’t tell me he called you call here?!”
Jackson grinned, dark hair dripping water onto your hardwood floor. “Of course we did noona! Hyung said you’d need our help. So here we are!”
“If it’s an attack on you, it’s an attack on the rest of us,” Mark said gently, oversized sleeves running over his hands.
“So what do we do? Who needs ass kicking?” Jaebum hits Bam on the back of the head, sending him a quick and playful eye roll.
“No asses are getting kicked. Yet. First, let’s figure out how to get her magic back. Everyone sit, I’ll order food, and Jinyoungie can do that thing with the books he always does.”
“Yah. That thing with the books has saved all your asses a thousand times over the past few centuries so shut the hell up and let me conjure up my stuff.”
They all watch as the room goes dark, Jinyoung’s eyes going from their deep brown to a violent strike of red. His hands stretch forward over the tabletop and his lips quickly move as he barely whispers the incantation. Your table fills up quickly, Jinyoung’s leather tomes stacking up on after the other. Mark smiles at him as Youngjae whistles, impressed. When the lights are back, your resident bookworm starts to flit through pages in search of anything that can help. The boys join in and you decide to go to the kitchen, that black mark drawing you near. Jaebum’s arms wrap around you and you lean into his embrace, relishing the feel of his magic giving you a little energy.
“We’ll figure this out baby. Don’t worry. You’ll get it back.”
He can’t see you, but your eyes burn violet as you eye your windowsill.
“I know I will. And I’ll make sure whoever took it will never try it again.”
A/N: We really have to stop meeting like this. Lol. As usual, I’m immensely sorry I haven’t been posting. My usual excuses like ‘too much life is happening and not enough inspiration’ are applicable here. Again, sorry. I’m trying to focus more on the drabbles since I’ve hit a wall with ‘Leather and Onesies’ and need to head back to the drawing board. And in focusing on the drabbles, I came to the conclusion that to finish them, I need to stop trying to go in order. Hence, this post (which is #47 on the list). I’m just going to pick them randomly and write, hopefully completing this drabble game sooner than later haha.
Anyway, Hope my darling…all my wishes that you enjoy this. As always, sending my love.
xoxo, Mo

Congrats on your 900 followers! i hope your ask game is still open :) I'm 5'2 with black hair and dark brown eyes (I'm asian). for personality, I'm an INFJ and an aries. I'm pretty stubborn and moody, which i think often irritates others, but i really care a lot about people. i can also get very passionate about matters that i strongly believe in. I'm very introverted but I'm very pretty talkative with my close friends/family. i really like soccer haha. for fandom/ship: Band of Brothers! Thanks!
WOW THIS IS HECKA LONG IM SORRY-
The Character I See You As: DICK WINTERS. The man. The dad. He’s passionate, stubborn (though he hides it well but he’s totally stubborn and surprisingly Nix isn’t?? I love their dynamic. NOT THE POINT.) He’s fairly introverted, but doesn’t have a problem socializing when he needs to. Also he’s incredibly caring. I remember after Foy, after the Patrol, it’s mentioned in the BoB book that most of the officers went to Paris or other big cities, but Winters stayed behind and personally trained with all of the new, really nervous replacements (since they were as green as green gets, surrounded by these 20-25 year old VETERANS) and this one kid, in the middle of the night, loses the guy in front of him and gasps in surprise and hears a voice behind him go “it’s alright, son, just get down and find them against the night sky” and he later realized it was Winters and I just. Wow. I am rambling. Also he’s moody?? So moody, but again hides it well behind “Im the dad and nothing I do is wrong probably”. Which I love. I love him.
Your Three Best Friends: Harry Welsh, Charles Grant, Ronald Speirs
The One You Don’t Get Along With: 1st Lieutenant Dike. Sobel was one thing, he trained the boys so well that he saved their lives. He was the worst, don’t get me wrong, but he saved their lives. Dike is a whole other demon. He saved no one’s life. He was sent to his position, not out of respect for what he could do, but because he was someone’s favorite. You can’t respect someone who can’t get even the simplest of jobs done (including WATCHING OVER THE LINE IN BASTOGNE FOR LIKE FIVE MINUTES).
Who I Ship You With: Joe Toye. The legend. Brassknuckles. My fav. I love him because, even with very little screentime in BoB, you get the essence of who he is as a person so fast. He’s majorly protective of everyone he loves, but still suspicious of newbies and what not (tho he’s protective of them too). Also, as someone said and I love it, he was aware of the limits put on him by dropping out of high school and desperately wanted to be smarter. Despite being all talk, he’s very little bite (unless you give him reason to be). In fact, he’s a lil insecure and needs to be TAKEN CARE OF so he can also take care of you. Anyway yes. He would be so shy with you too and I feel like you would actually end up being a little more confident than him (taking advantage of his shyness a little, sitting a little too close sometimes so he side-eyes you like a suspicious cat but doesn’t tell u to move because he loves it).
Wildcard: Captain. 2nd Battalion. Easy Company.
Lil Blurb: You were a Captain, and by all means that should mean you were respected and listened to, but most of the new recruits saw you as a joke. It was true the first day you had been helping moving kitchen supplies into the mess hall (you and Easy Company would be stationed in Landsberg for awhile after all). But it was out of the kindness of your heart, not because you were instructed to do so. You suppose that was what got everything off to a bad start, the new replacements taking that moment to spread rumors that you were given the position to settle some “dispute” in HQ.
The next morning you oversee training with Welsh and Speirs at your side. After overseeing their physical assessment, your turn your back for a moment to scrawl a few notes on the clipboard handed to you by Welsh. They do it because they prefer your handwriting, and you find no offense in it, that is until one of the braver boys mutters something about a “nice view” and nudges the guy next to him. Welsh and Speirs, muttering to one another, don’t seem to notice. You don’t blame them, but you clench a fist anyway and spin on the heels of your boots. You don’t get angry easily.
You thought you were going to punch him, but you want their respect. Any irrationality demonstrated weakness, but any control you found was discovered at the very last moment. “I think,” you begin with a chuckle. “There’s an even better view down the river. You know the way right? We ran it last night. About two miles I think?” He looks at you, a little confused. “Run down that way, and run all the way back, and then tell me what it looks like.” You give a him a quick pat on the shoulder. “And you, Private Anderson, you’ll ride along in a jeep next to him. Make sure he keeps running.” The boy that got elbowed salutes you quickly, a slack-jawed grin on his face as he runs off. “Get going, boy,” you bark at the other private. The blood drains from his face and he dashes off, nearly forgetting to salute as he does so.
You look over your shoulder at Welsh and Speirs. Welsh is laughing and Speirs has the smallest of smiles on his face, shaking his head as he dismisses the rest of the men.
“I think you put the fear of god in that entire platoon.” A familiar voice rumbles from the porch of one of the houses behind you. You spin around, one hand on your hip as you find Joe Toye sitting, rifle across his lap. “You should have seen your face, Y/N. I thought he was going to die.” He moves the rifle, sitting it up against the wall before patting the concrete beside him. You slowly make your way over, hooking your thumb on your belt.
“I thought I might kill him too. I don’t know how I didn’t.”
Joe looks thoughtful for a moment, furrowing a brow at you before standing up, seemingly changing his mind. “Come here, I need to show you something.”
You follow despite the quizzical look on your face, slipping inside the house and peering around. It was dusty. Nothing special. Toye shut the door behind the two of you, and just as you turn to ask him what exactly it is he needed to show you, he hooks his arm around your waist and reels you in for a kiss. You brace your hands against his chest, inhaling sharply as his mouth presses against your’s. Well you knew you had been teasing him a little, and you had been close ever since Carentan, but you never thought you’d see the day–
“Are you going to court martial me? Because that was damn near the most attractive thing I have ever seen." He breathes against your nose. He couldn’t be serious for more than a second, much as he might like to pretend he was tough. “You’re going to have to persuade me otherwise,” you reply softly, reaching to lock the door. Lord, you were getting yourself in trouble.
