So sick thinking about the hermits getting ready to leave Empires. I know they've been there a while and have to go home but. Man.
Jimmy's rancher never came home.
Even when he built their house back for him with his bare hands, saying I want you to be here. I want you to be mine like you were. I love you like I did the day I lost you. I want to share my empire, something that means everything to me, with you.

status of the hermits on empires as far as i can see so far:

keralis: staying in sanctuary, promised to build something for pix.
impulse: building a base near the great-bridge with other hermits, though unclear who else is with him.
jevin: staying in sanctuary (?), left off his episode mid-tour.
tango: staying in gobland, planning more rancher adventures and to build some wonky minecart stuff for fwhip.

Sheriff's Day Off
It's all @joifee fault I wrote this (thank you 😺).
Also, I wrote this on my phone so I couldn't put it through my usual grammar check so sorry if there are mor e mistakes than usually.
It was a peaceful day in the Empires Server. As peaceful as one can be when less than twenty hours ago a bunch of players from a different Server suddenly dropped by because of a weird portal. fWhip was giving a tour to Al the Hermits who missed the initial one and those who wanted another one. Tango chose to come alone since Jimmy was apparently busy today.
It was weird seeing Jimmy on his home Server. On Life servers and literally everywhere else Tango has ever seen him he was so different. Much more shy and withdrawn. Here he seemed both aloof and constantly vigilant at the same time. He was still very nice to Tango and offered him a place to stay at in Tumble town.
Tango felt only slightly weird about accepting a job in Gobland. But Jimmy didn't seem to mind it when he told him about it. Just said something vague about the place being grate and moved on to being busy the next day.
Tango guessed head some ruler stuff to do and just joined the second tour. There were places he hadn't seen on the initial one. And fWhip was fun to be around. Very different admin form Xisuma but that's good. There's only one X after all.
He was a bit sad all the other emperor's/ rulers were too busy to join. Mostly by making accomodations for the Hermits. So colour him surprised when an annoyed looking Scott landed next to fWhip. "Would you happen to know where's Jimmy?" He asked his admin. Tango could only hope it wasn't about him.
"No. And your pokies are sticking out," fWhip shrugged, at all not bothered by rainbow crystals sticking out of Scott. Tango was pretty sure they weren't there yesterday. "What do you even need the sheriff for anyway?"
"Well, he promised..." Scott started but was stopped by the Sheriff landing behind him and, completely unborhered by the crystals, wrapping him in a hug. Using his height advantage to easily rest his head in Scott's cyan, unprotected by his hat on account of crystal horns, hair.
"There you are," he grinned like Tango never saw him grin. Mouth full of sharp, needle-like teeth. Hi fWhip, we might make a mess somewhere, sorry in advance," he shot the goblin a wink.
fWhip just sighed. "It's sooner than I expected," he hummed, visibly relaxing. Tango totally missed when he tensed up. "Anything I cal help with?"
"Sorry, you're a bit too squishy at the moment," Jimmy sighed, a hint of sadness in his voice. Not that Tango had time to dwell on it.
"Sorry I'm noth a half-dragon anymore," fWhip's annoyed reply had him even more shocked.
And Jimmy just giggled. "Maybe another time you can watch," he grinned as Scott, who was so far suspicious silent started to wriggle and growl. "I think that's my cue, time for Sheriff's vacation," he hummed and suddenly wasn't a human but... An undead part-fish? And like seven feet tall. And somehow enen more handsome. And had fWhip whistling and if Tango was correct blushing... And Jimmy was suddenly off, with Scott still in his arms.
"Have fun," fWhip waved him off. "Anyway, where were we?" He turned to the Hermits. There was definitely some blush still on his face.
"What. The. Hell. Was. That?" Grian was first to speak and asked what all the present Hermits were thinking.
"Result of botched server reset, we didn't really have much of a choice but rush it.I will spare you guys the details but it did mess up some code and Pearl split in two, and she Joel and Jimmy got god powers and Scott's got a demon in him... Or is part one? We're still unsure but Jimmy has to occasionally go Death God mode and beat that side of him up," fWhip explained as if he were talking about weather. "Don't worry, they'll be fine," he assured with a wide grin. It was just then that Tango noticed he had a lot pointier an sharper teeth than other goblins... Remnants of his old code?
"How does that explain anything?" Grian was clearly not satisfied with how little fWhip seemed to care about the whole situation.
"It is what it is, now back to Stratos..." The goblin king easily returned to the tour to Grian's dismay. Tango would have to ask either fWhip or Jimmy... Or Scott but he was Franky the most terrifying option...
Especially considering that when Scott and Jimmy marched into the Drip at a late evening hour as Tango and fWhip were discussing Gobland's transport systems, the king of Chromia was looking fresh as a daisy while Jimmy. Still in his half-dead-fish form looked a lot closer to dead. And unabashedly cuddled fWhip, while quietly complaining about Scott 'dragging it out'. Tango guessed It was that fight to push the crystal demon back...

Tango seeing Jimmy his rancher,his lover, to be alived inside the Tumble Town Tunnel and well have enlighten his heart with such happiness and glee finally after years or eons possibly even the watchers powers of erasing their memories after Double Life couldn't stop the thread of fate between them.
As for Sheriff Jimmy, he is estatic like this felt like a dream, vivid dream that might cause by fever. Or an trick by Demigod Joel.
But when he felt the warmluke lips of Tango into his he realized it finally that all of thid true, for so long, his lover, his rancher is home at last. Meanwhile Fwhip's goblin heart is shattering into million pieces as his ex have seen reunited with his real love, destined by fate itself oh the anguish pain. He just turn around and begun to run away from them as tears cascaded down his face. The pain of love...
Such, a cruel and sadistic one...
fWhip may have hired Tango out of spite. He's not sure what he was trying to achieve, because spite is never a logical motivator. He's more surprised when Tango accepts, meeting with fWhip and talking excitedly about fWhip's base. There's no animosity. Tango is genuine, enthusiastic, and seems to find no end to things to compliment in Gobland.
It catches fWhip off guard.
He would've expected Jimmy to tell Tango something. Some insult or negative comment or... Anything really. But if he did, Tango doesn't show it. He gets to work, showing fWhip his progress excitedly. But he still goes back, visiting Jimmy in Tumble Town. fWhip... He hates that he can see why Jimmy loves Tango so much. And he hates even more than he can't hate Tango.
Meanwhile, Jimmy has told Tango his fWhip woes. Namely how much he wishes fWhip hadn't betrayed his trust. Because they had something, they really did! It was nice having fWhip on his side, it was nice how excited he was for everything. Jimmy loved listening to him and his ideas! But he can't just disregard what fWhip did to him, that wouldn't be fair on himself.
Tango decides this is all kind of stupid and he's tired of watching them pine over each other. So, he carefully pulls some strings and invites them each to what totally isn't a date in disguise. Maybe it's not the most mature way to solve problems, but you can only hang around Zedaph for so long without being affected.
Naturally, things get a bit confrontational. Tango sits and mediates, because it would be rude not to after he set this up. But he doesn't expect them to invite him to stay after. Nor does he expect to have a genuinely nice time, and end the evening with the three of them sharing a bed (fWhip fits nicely between them.)
Hey, a 200% success rate on 'get fWhip and Jimmy together' is pretty good!

Jimmy was doing just fine, thanks for asking.
It's not like, y'know, the few people who ever actually supported him were leaving.
He couldn't even blame them. Why would they want to hang around with the laughing stock of empires, the toy sheriff? He wouldn't want to hang out with himself either!
He just- it was nice. It was nice when Scar made a villager hall, just for him. When he built a whole train in tumble town, and a nice little village as well.
And Tango? Tango wasn't just nice (although he was very very very nice), Tango was amazing. Tango was wonderful and kind and smart and handsome and funny and creative and compassionate and so many things, and yet he chose to stay with Jimmy. Tango could have gone anywhere, done anything- hell, two other empires were already trying to get Tango to stay with them, and yet Tango chose Jimmy.
But now he wasn't. Now Tango was leaving because why shouldn't he? There's no soulbond to keep him at tumble town, so why would he stay? Everyone else decides he's not worth it, so why wouldn't Tango? What sign does he have that Tango would choose him again?
Except that Tango called the ranch his home. Except that Tango woke up early in the morning to feed the chickens. Except that whenever Jimmy slept past when Tango had to leave for Gobland, he left a note on the counter to say bye. Except that Tango spent what probably took hours getting Sing horns like they had back at the ranch.
Was it too far-fetched to think that Tango would choose to stay at tumble town- to stay with Jimmy? The hermits hadn't left yet, he could still ask him to stay. If Jimmy asked him, he might. But what if he still left? What if Jimmy begged Tango to stay, and he still chose to leave? Would the small chance that Tango might choose to stay be worth the much larger chance that he would reject him? Jimmy... Jimmy couldn't risk it. Everyone else turned on him. Everyone else tossed him aside for something new. And Jimmy didn't think he could handle looking Tango in the eyes when he inevitably turned away.
So he didn't ask. And Tango left.

manifesting fwip trying to tell tango that jimmy is corrupt and tango just gets up and leaves goblands to go ranch it up with jimmy, because how dare Fwip speak like that about his rancher >:(
That would be fun but I think Tango is too friendly for that, and also he loves the drama.
Can we talk about what a little tea drinker Tango is? Tango loves tea and has zero concept of conflict of interest until Something happens. He was so chummy with Scott right up until he stole their goats despite even acknowledging the other bullying being done to them. His reaction to bad things happening is always 'that's great I love that for them' he just loves chaos.
Tango is probably going to spend a bunch of time building silly contraptions for Gobland while simultaneously hanging out in Tumble Town and just mindlessly have the rivalry go in one ear and out the other as entertainment until an Incident. That or maybe he'll accidentally solve their spat. It sounds like the hermits might build their own little space too so they might not be staying in any specific empire.
I am looking forward to him interacting with the other empires though. I hope he hangs out with Shubble a bit more he seemed to adore her empire.

Finally saw Jimmy’s episode and man you guys weren’t kidding about Jimmy’s reaction to Tango admitting to staying with Fwhip for a bit…
Also the start of Fwhip’s episode where he’s like “Tango agreed to help with redstone wonk but I don’t have redstone so I need to get some so he stays” and then saying that Scar can’t decided whether to stay in “Gobland or with the Toy” and his scheming to make sure both Scar and Tango leave Jimmy and stay with him? Man this is fascinating!

what if fwhip gives jimmy's home away from home to someone else. there are lots of people without homes, now, with all the hermits bumping around. he could use the extra space. just a temporary room for tango, maybe. would he be able to do it. or is it still jimmys no matter what. even if he never stays there. even if he never steps foot in gobland again. fwhip's way of saying he always has a home somewhere. warm and waiting for when he needs it.

THIS has been driving me insane /pos
Like. Satan below you cannot just drop that on me.
Fucking. Yeah Jimmy knows Tango was excited to see him again. There were tears shed in that tunnel and horns blown and they were so overjoyed and borderline overwhelmed to find each other again.
The smile Tango had when he promised to "ranch it up" soon? And the way Tango's face lit up when Jimmy showed him the ranch? Surely Tango wanted to be Jimmy's rancher again.
But there was something in the way Tango's face fell when confronted with the fact that he hadn't told Jimmy about his arrangements at Gobland. The way Tango stepped away and picked at his cuticles, refusing to meet Jimmy's eyes while he explained what fWhip had promised.
It activated Jimmy's flight response, for whatever reason. He wanted to run and hide away from everyone, but also drop to his knees and beg Tango to stay. Maybe apologize for ever thinking to build the ranch. He'd clutch at the thick fur cloak and tell Tango he'd take the ranch down, to forget about everything that happened, apologize for wasting his time.
But he didn't. He stood in place and made a compromise with Tango. He'd keep his work and home separate, do whatever fWhip wanted and live in Tumble Town, at the ranch.
And Jimmy was fine with it! He was estatic! He couldn't stop thinking about his rancher living with him again. His soulmate, in Tumble Town.
Except Tango hadn't visited since the day he unveiled the ranch.
Jimmy would check in every day, finding no signs of visitors except himself. The place was collecting dust - faster than normal as it was the mesa - but dust nonetheless. Jimmy starts to wonder if maybe he forced Tango to play into his wishes of being soulmates again.
What if Tango had completely moved on from Double Life? He certainly seemed like it. Working for and possibly living with fWhip, completely changing his look, barely associating with Jimmy at all even when he promised - he promised - he would? What if Jimmy was stuck in the past. Stuck missing someone who wanted nothing to do with him anymore, missing the only smidge of a good life he would get with the one person who genuinely loved him.
He was always stuck in the past though. Constantly thinking about where he went wrong or what could've been or what he should've said or shouldn't have said. He just couldn't get with the times. He couldn't grow up and accept life.
Jimmy sobbed. The force of the noise nearly sent him backwards into the sand, though it wouldn't have been that much of a fall.
He was currently sat on his railroad tracks, just in front of the train Scar built. His communicator sat in his hands with Tango's name pulled up, ready to send a whisper to. He was online. Jimmy could easily send the message. But his hands were shaking too much.
Jimmy sniffled and wiped his eyes on his sleeve. He sucked in a breath and typed as quick as he could before his body let out another sob.
You whispered to Tango: do you still like me?
He wanted to drop or even throw his comm but he held it tight, waiting for Tango to respond. He didn't expect anything immediate. He was sure Tango was busier than busy right now. He hated bothering him with such a stupid question.
As Jimmy went to wipe his eyes again his comm buzzed in his hands.
Tango whispered to you: that's an odd question to ask out of nowhere
Tango whispered to you: of course I do. is something wrong lovely?
Jimmy hiccupped, sobbing harder. The nickname was too soft, too domestic for him. This was a whole different world. Tango didn't have to call him pet names or even pretend to care anymore. They weren't soulmates anymore.
You whispered to Tango: i'm sorry i'm still stuck on the ranchers. you can live with fwhip if you want to and forget about me
Jimmy gasped in a breath. He's forgotten to breathe. He needed to breathe. He couldn't suffocate now, the death message would show up in chat and Tango would come check on him and he didn't want to see Tango right now.
Tango whispered to you: songbird are you ok?
Tango whispered to you: why would i do that why are you sorry?
Tango whispered to you: talk to me please
Against his better judgement, Jimmy typed back. Maybe it was some stupid child-like hope he had yet to let go of.
You whispered to Tango: it's ok if you moved on from the ranchers you don't have to pretend because of me i'll live
Tango whispered to you: can i come over?
Jimmy hiccupped and shook his head, replying far too quickly for his own comfort.
You whispered to Tango: no
Tango whispered to you: alright
Tango whispered to you: why would you think i moved on?
Jimmy shivered as the sun began to set and the mesa grew terribly cold. Still he didn't move from the tracks.
You whispered to Tango: you haven't visited and you went to live with fwhip we haven't even talked until now
You whispered to Tango: if you don't want to live at the ranch just tell me
Jimmy watched his comm for a while after that. The minutes that passed dragged on for phantom hours. Jimmy felt a panic rise in his chest that maybe Tango was coming over. But Tango wouldn't break that boundary would he? Even when Jimmy had been so clear on it?
His comm rattled against the rails and Jimmy nearly jumped out of his skin.
Tango whispered to you: jim i absolutely do want to live at the ranch and with you
Tango whispered to you: why would you think i wouldn't?
Tango whispered to you: i'm sorry i haven't been over, fwhip gave me a massive project and i totally got caught up in it
Jimmy sniffed and wiped his eyes. The tears were slowing and he was able to breathe without breaking down into sobs.
Tango whispered to you: you're my rancher jimmy
Tango whispered to you: i'm sorry i made you feel like you weren't
Jimmy finally picks himself up and begins the walk back to his home with weak knees and shaky hands. And he hears nothing in the tunnel.
You whispered to Tango: it's ok. sorry for bothering you with my dumb brain
Tango whispered to you: hey don't put yourself down and you don't need to apologize to me
Tango whispered to you: how about we spend a whole day together to make up?
Jimmy shucks off his dirty boots and shrugs off his vest, hanging it on a coat rack. His hat goes along side it.
