I Highly recommend everyone who is not only interested in Zork, but fandom history as a whole, to go check out the Zork library.
The Zork fandom was at once massive and impossibly dedicated, and who have built a vast library of knowledge of the franchises lore. The Zork Library is now an archive of not only the zork universe, but of this now lost fandom.
The Zork library was last updated in 2020, moving the majority of the fandom to the subreddit r/Zork, which is primarily populated by transients only asking one question and leaving when it's answered.
The point of this account is kind of try to revitalize this fandom a little bit. I'd love to be involved in a zork fandom but literally nothingg is happening, which is so frustrating.
Sometimes I will be reminded of an early meme and it's fun to try to figure out where you heard of it, before social media was really a thing. I Herd You Liek Mudkipz was something I got introduced to via neopets in 2005 or 2006...how quaint
The thing that gets me about history and humanity is that you never know what is immortalized, and the things that will be immortalized are things you would never think.
I saw a person sharing a new tattoo, and it was one of Onfim's drawings. A boy who lived so long ago he is barely a blip now, but his drawings meant so much to people that somebody is now permanently marked in their skin with one of those drawings. Do you ever look at the things you make and just sit there and wonder if this is the thing that future people look at? Do you ever look at your art, your writing, your schoolwork, or anything that is yours and just wonder who will find it, who will fall in love with a piece of your humanity and become overwhelmed with emotion over? It's not unlikely. It's not totally unlikely that somebody will find a piece of you in the distant future and devoid of any other context of who you were will still love you because you were here. You were here, and you are still here, even hundreds or thousands of years later. Treat yourself with the same love that so many have for dear Onfim.
every day i get so, so fucking sad that the mspa forums were lost and i can’t go and look back at the screaming reactions and fanart for when the trolls appearances’ first dropped or for when the kids were revealed to be related
feel like im goin to hell for this but when i saw twst twink-ified frollo i thought abt ur......................f-frollo vocaloid design from the olden times (i used to follow ur da when i was younger cause i loved your pixel work lol)
WE DO NOT SPEAK OF THAT, THAT WAS BEFORE MY BRAIN WAS FULLY DEVELOPED *HISSING AND SCREECHING*
Nothing quite like the prospect of replaying MGS3 (thanks to my recent acquisition of the Master Collection) to pique the ol' nostalgia for something I worked on literally half a lifetime ago.
Fun fact! If Sirin survived the Second Eruption, then by the start of the game she would've been old enough to be Kiana's teacher at St. Freya :)
so I was thinking about what it might've been like if only Sirin survived the Second Eruption & was adopted by Cecilia and Siegfried, right?
and usually that scenario is depicted in fanart/fanfic as being Second Eruption Sirin alongside Kiana and/or Bianka and/or HoV, and the rest of the cast as we see them later in the story.
Plus Captianverse Sirin is shown alongside Definitely-Not-Bronya and Definitely-Not-Seele and about the same age as them. So I imagine this is the mental image most people have of Sirin when they think "Sirin with the Kaslana family".
Here's the thing, though! Second Eruption takes place in the year 2000, right?
Sirin was still a kid, my guess is ~12 years old but could be a bit younger or older than that.
But Mei and Kiana were really small children and Bronya hadn't even been born yet!
So if Sirin DID survive the Second Eruption in the real world... she'd be roughly 10 years older than Kiana, give or take a couple years. By 2015, Sirin would be in her early-to-mid-20s!
What's more: Himeko was a high school graduate in 2005, that means she'd only be like 5-6 years older than Sirin (assuming she's 17 or 18 at graduation). Plus according to a Honkai wiki, Rita was 11 years old in 2007. Meaning... Sirin would be only a few years younger than Himeko and she'd even be a few years older than Rita.
By the Kiana would've been old enough to go to St. Freya...
Sirin could've gone to St. Freya, GRADUATED, gotten experience as a Valkyrie, and then returned to be a teacher at St. Freya!
Rita would've been old enough to have been a recent graduate (assuming she ever would've gone to St. Freya in such a world), and Himeko would've already been a teacher for a few years at that point.
So if Sirin survived the Second Eruption, Himeko & Sirin could both have been teachers at St. Freya, alongside Theresa and Principal Cecilia- making Sirin both the adoptive sister of Kiana AND a teacher to her, Mei, Bronya, and Fu Hua. and why not Seele too, just for funsies?
