Hey booklr! I'm posting this on behalf of my friend Analeigh Sbrana (@literaryxqueen on insta), who doesn't have a Tumblr. Her debut novel, Lore of the Wilds, went live for pre-order this morning, and I'd love it if we could show it some love.
Analeigh tried for two years to sell her story to trad-pub, but the vibe was that trad-pub didn't want to take the risk on a Black Fae fantasy adventure set in a breathtakingly descriptive magic kingdom in a market currently flooded with white fairy romances. So, she took matters into her own hands and joined the ranks of self-pub.
Full disclosure: I worked on this book as a proofreader, and I loved every minute of it. I kept forgetting I was supposed to be working and reading ahead. I scheduled a week to finish reading it in did it in 3 days, and the only reason it took so long was that I had to actually pause and work on it 😅.
So, if you like:
-🍄cottage core -✨fairy core -📚light/dark academia vibes -🌈a diverse cast of lgbtqia+ Black characters -💘romance -🧝🏾‍♀️ being kidnapped by a fairy prince to tidy up his cursed/enchanted library and coming into your own magical powers as a result, then Lore of the Wilds might just be for you!
Here, have a sneak peek of what the physical books will look like:
Tumblr media
(ID in alt) The book will eventually be available in eBook, paperback, and hardback--Ana's just having a time getting the links to generate. I'll post them as soon as they're live.
Please do consider giving LoTW some love. It's such a fantastic book, and I'd love to see it thrive where trad-pub left it to fail. Thank you 💖

a bite size review of Lore of the Wilds:
Firstly, I'd like to thank Hear Our Voices Book Tours and author Analeigh Sbrana for the free advance reader!
***All thoughts and opinions are my own***
Guess this is 3.5 stars??
Will be tuned in for book 2, though book 1 felt lacking?? Many times it felt like I’d skimmed or skipped information and the story would reference it as if I as the reader knew. It felt very narration heavy, in that instead of spending time in scenes, as soon as we got good and settled, the story moved on to the next story beat. I felt a bit detached as I read, wanting to be completely immersed in the story but never officially reaching that point.
Also the “twist” at the end…it was weird. Didn’t have an emotional reaction to Asher being the Syerell(sp) guy--the fae guy who visited Lore's family apothecary at the start of the book-- But I am laughing at how this sets us up for Lore to be with Finn. How convenient. (On that point, the earlier romance with "Asher" also felt a bit lacking to me, in that it happened so fast, to the point where it felt like insta-love and hate-to-love had a struggle baby...)
This is another "cover buy and keep" book this year (2023 seems to be the year for this lol). Because the cover illustration for this book is GORGEOUS?!?!?!
But. Alas. The story didn't inspired equally gushing from me. It wasn't bad!! In fact, it was only okay in every sense of the word.
I look forward to seeing what other secrets Lore's grimoire holds in the next installment, and have hope that this series will pick up. It wouldn't be the first time I was disappointed by the first book, and then fell head over heels in love with its sequel.

Lore of the Wilds by Analeigh Sbrana - Review
Before I start I have to admit I don't normally write many reviews but I really wanted to for this book. It was an amazing ride! This book was my reward for finishing exams and getting into the course I wanted, and it was worth it! This may get long so the review itself will be under the cut :) slight spoiler warnings, though I'll try my best not to get into a lot of detail!
I think book is now available for pre-order which is awesome!
'Lore of the Wilds' immediately felt somehow familiar to me and I was immediately immersed. The small village setting of Duskmere felt cosy and welcoming, I felt as though if I somehow fell in to the book I would be treated with kindness and made to feel like I belong pretty much straight away. The settings in the book were so vivid I sometimes felt like I could see through the pages right into the world beneath, especially the tavern was beautifully described.
The introduction of each character was very natural and their personalities were varied and realistic. Lore is a wonderful main character with very human weaknesses and strengths to her personality. It was easy to fall in love with the story and the characters, though of course I had my favourites ;) -Finndryl was so well-written that even though Isla would normally be much more my type (bubbly, kind, generous, clever, not to mention I normally fall for women) I couldn't help liking him - as I read I felt as if I was right there in the book and his character made me feel safe.
The story moved at a natural pace and the progression of time was wonderfully written - it never felt forced or jerky. Of course there were tropes in the book (I'm pretty sure it's impossible to have a book without 😅) and they were executed perfectly. The twist at the end shocked me to my core, it was original and masterful and on the first read completely unexpected.
As a bi girl it made me really happy to see how casually the lgbt+ community was represented through Isla, and black features were described in such a beautiful and loving way as well, I haven't really read many other books that did this and it was a wonderful experience.
Overall, I'm really glad I read this book and for anyone that's a fan of fantasy romance it's an amazing read that I found very hard to put down once I picked it up. For any high fantasy fans: there's no dragons, but they wouldn't really fit anyway - I think they would crowd the world of the book a bit and it's perfect just the way it is! A very much magical book ;)

A stunning Romantasy debut about an enchanted library, two handsome Fae, and one human who brings them all together. A library with a deadly enchantment. A Fae lord who wants in. A human woman willing to risk it all for a taste of power. In a land ruled by ruthless Fae, twenty-one-year-old Lore Alemeyu’s village is trapped in a forested prison. Lore knows that any escape attempt is futile—her scars are a testament to her past failures. But when her village is threatened, Lore makes a desperate deal with a Fae lord. She will leave her home to catalog/organize an enchanted library that hasn’t been touched in a thousand years. No Fae may enter the library, but there is a chance a human might be able to breach the cursed doors. She convinces him that she will risk her life for wealth, but really she’s after the one thing the Fae covet above all: magic of her own. As Lore navigates the hostile world outside, she’s forced to rely on two Fae males to survive. Two very different, very dangerous, very attractive Fae males. When undeniable chemistry ignites, she’s not just in danger of losing her life, but her heart to the very creatures she can never trust.

Lore of the Wilds is available now in ebook, audio, paperback, and hardback from most book retailers. Check out the Harper Collins links to find a retailer close to you!
Please consider checking out Lore. It's a stunning world with an amazing cast, and Ana deserves every bit of success after she fought so hard to get her all Black fairytale past the hurdles of mainstream publishing.
