My fellow hellsite users, be ready for the objectively best tournament in the history of tournaments...
THE AMINOACID SWAG TOURNAMENT

Are you a burnt out biology major? Are you an actual researcher who still takes the L by being on tumblr? Do you teach biology and want to be hip with the kids? Stay tuned and vote for your favorite aminoacid!
This blog has been inspired by such delightful blogs such as: @besttship, @autismswagsummit, @weirdgirlshowdown, @baldguy-fight, @blorbopoll, @bisexual-monarch-tournament, @dailylepidopterans and @may-the-best-penguin-win.
For this tournament, I'll make the choice of using a 20 - member bracket, of course. I am sticking to the regular 20 aminoacids for protein synthesis in eucaryotic organisms. The polls will have a time limit of one week. I want to allow plenty of time to get the posts spread around. The polls of the first round will be posted in a few days.
Fun stuff you can do to add to the competition:
Send me asks, including anon asks.
Create fan works related to the tournament (just make sure to tag me so I can reblog it).
I'll use many different tags to categorise the different kinds of posts I'll make. I'll include the names in the description of the blog as well, but here's the basics:

#aminoacid-admin = posts with announcements/news regarding the tournament
#aminoacid-fanworks = posts reblogging fanworks
Obviously, any hateful or rude interaction/bullying/comment/statement/ask will be deleted and the users sending them will be blocked.

Periodic Table of The Elements tournament!
are you a gigantic nerd? Into cool rocks? metals? gases? Like weird radioactive shit? Then you may be interested in the periodic table tournament.
here's how it's gonna work.
All 118 elements, 1v1 polls, until we figure out tumblrs favourite element.
Because 118 isn't a power of 2, the first 10 elements get to skip to round 2.
If you've got a fun fact or a great photo for an element and you wanna save me some time please send them to me in asks or whatever, there's a lot of them so I'd be happy for any assistance
The first round polls will be a week because I want some time for people to find this
After that I'll switch to one day polls probably
I might do a long poll for the final, idk yet
Propaganda for your favourite element is welcome, either via asks or by tagging me
The starting bracket is gonna be pretty much just random so don't whinge about it, it's not my fault

Welcome people! As a biotech student (still) obsessed with fandom, I decided to combine my two favorite things: blorbos and unethical science practices!
That’s why I am starting...
THE BEST CLONE TOURNAMENT!
Submit your favorite blorbos that happen to be clones and watch them fight to death! You can submit by following the following link:

SUBMISSION RULES:
1. Fictional characters only, obviously. However, Dolly the Sheep (the first clone of a mammal to have survived) will automatically be in the tournament. If any of you can think of any irl famous cloned animals and want to submit them, you’re more than welcome to do so.
2. I will allow the submission process to last about 1 week.
3. If the fact that the character is a clone is a crucial point in the media the character is in, and the reveal could be considered a spoiler, please inform me in the submission form so i can tag accordingly.
I don’t know how many characters will end up in the tournament. that depends on the number of submissions. The tournament may take a while to start, because I am busy with my other ongoing tournament @aminoacid-swag-tournament (which you are more than welcome to check out) as well as just regular life. Please be patient.
While cloning is usually associated with science, if you can think of clones made using magic or some other medium, you’re more free to submit them! Let’s see how many ways people have figured out to conduct man-made horrors beyond their comprehensions!
Also, if there’s a piece of media with many clones (like Star Wars), I will handle it this way: If I only get a few submissions for a few characters, I don’t mind putting the individual characters in the tournament. however, if I get multiple submissions for multiple characters, I will most probably consider having all of them as a group (for example ‘The Clone Army from Star Wars’).

The Winner of the Amino Acid Swag Tournament is...
Hello, hello, hello everyone!
Yes, I am actually alive. Surprise, surprise! I would have updated this sooner, but I had been busy with school and then I went on vacation with my friends. It was pretty fun, thanks for asking.
I really am sorry, though, for taking this long to finally finish this tournament. It was constantly in the back of my head. I didn’t expect life to get this hectic.
Now, let’s finally close this tournament. Tumblr has made a decision on which of the twenty aminoacids is the most based, the most legit, the most astounding!
Ladies, gentlemen, and fellow esteemed guests, it is a great pleasure, honor and privilege to announce that, after five rounds of intense fighting, the winner of the amino acid swag tournament is...
Glycine vs Tryptophan => TRYPTOPHAN

Fun facts about our winner:
1. Tryptophan’s side chain is an indole.
2. It’s a precursor of melatonin, serotonin and vitamin B3
3. It is considered an essential amino acid, because humans can’t synthesize it by themselves. We can only obtain it via our diets.
4. Along with methionine (who got eliminated in the first round. press F to pay respects), tryptophan is only encoded by one codon. In its case, it’s UGG. Yes, UGG. Like the fucking boots.
With that, this tournament has been concluded. It was such a fun journey and I really enjoyed it. I hope you guys enjoyed it, too.
I think I will keep this blog, but I won’t be active as much. You can check out my other tournament @bestclone-tournament if you want to experience more of my shenanigans. This tournament has also been kept temporarily on hold until I can go through all my submissions, but you can stick around, if you’d like. I may also use this blog to promote other contests. I dunno. We’ll see.

The 3rd round of the amino acid swag tournament was completed yesterday. Here are the winners:

With that being said, the time has finally come...
FOR THE FOURTH AND FINAL ROUND!!!!
It’s time to determine once and for all which amino acid has the most swag! It’s the ultimate fight to the death!
The final poll will be posted tomorrow. You have 1 week to vote for your favorite, and fight for your cause. The party is almost over, so let’s live it up!

As you can see, this round will include a three-way battle, between some of the most popular aminoacids. I am really thrilled to see how it will go down.
