Seeing a lot of “Louis was wrong for bringing up Lestat’s insecurity” and not enough “Lestat was wrong for not seeing that Louis is black first and foremost.” Hell, he calls the people of Storyville “MY people.”

It goes beyond wanting to still be human, it’s Louis watching an entire area that kept black people fed and where they lived burn to the ground because people hate how his race looks and how his killing of that white racist played a part, no matter how small, in the destruction.

Louis is black before he’s a vampire. Louis is going through a crisis of identity outside of humanity atp. Racial issues, his family has ousted him, he lost the business that kept employees who have been by his side for years employed and now, as far as he knows, his partner doesn’t think him enough.

He was nasty for using Lestat’s deepest insecurity against him or trying to put blame on Lestat for his actions but he is NOT doing it simply because he doesn’t love Lestat, he has his own fucking things going on and his WHITE partner is not willing to see WHY the destruction of Storyville and segregation would affect Louis the way it does.

Lestat has the privilege of being white and rich before being a vampire, Louis does not because no matter how much money he has or businesses or moral dilemmas, he will always be seen as inferior by an entire race.

If you don’t wanna get why he’s devastated, I have news for you.

That picture was mostly an excuse to make a new dust jacket for the book. the original cover of which I’ve hated for the entire 22 years I’ve owned it 

White people on social media networks NEVER act right the moment they see a white man in a 10inch blond lace front because what do you mean “lestat has abandonment issues🥺” and “Louis never said he loved lestat” okay??? WHY in your mind does Lestat deserve more leeway over Louis who is clearly depressed at the loss of Claudia? Why is he not worth a thought of “hmm, maybe his partner SHOULDNT beat him to a pulp🤔”?

Because Lestat is WHITE. Idc how ‘equally’ you love them, you hold show!Louis to a different standard than show!Lestat because he’s black. I’m real enough to admit my bias towards Louis BECAUSE of his blackness, THAT drew me initially to the show and to him.

“Lestat has a bad background” does Louis not? Did his father not leave him a family on the brink of bankruptcy when he died? Did he not have to find a way support a family of four including him and find a way to keep paying their home workers within four months? Did he not lose his family when he took the ‘dark gift’? Did his own mother not blame him for his brother’s death? Did he not SEE his brother kill himself? Did he not contribute to the burning of Storyville leading to the turning of Claudia and her subsequent depression and self loathing? Did the person he loves more than anything not (rightfully) leave? What does show!Louis have to go through to be worthy of your sympathy?

“It’s not about race.” Mmm but it is. It definitely is.
