Stephen is like the little stray dog that the kids beg to keep in those movies like ‘please mom, please can we keep him? Can we keep him?’ And Sarah reluctantly sighs and says okay and now we have detective Holder for 4 seasons

“In the war film, a soldier can hold his buddy—as long as his buddy is dying on the battlefield. In the western, Butch Cassidy can wash the Sundance Kid’s naked flesh—as long as it is wounded. In the boxing film, a trainer can rub the well-developed torso and sinewy back of his protege—as long as it is bruised. In the crime film, a mob lieutenant can embrace his boss like a lover—as long as he is riddled with bullets.
Violence makes the homo-eroticism of many “male” genres invisible; it is a structural mechanism of plausible deniability.”

so blessed to live in a time when saying "the gay vampire show" does not immediately clarify which show you are referring to

forever obsessed with dynamics between vampires, specifically that of a maker and fledgling, as a way to explore abuse. the creation of a vampire itself can so easily be a literalization of the lasting impacts of trauma and also much more simply the ways a perpetrator might shape their victim’s very identity. the extremes of isolation in the way that the new vampire, in most narratives, must cut all ties to their mortal life, or else go through an elaborate charade to maintain the facade of humanity, while forever still being removed from it. and the sheer dependence and vulnerability of being in an entirely new state of being, wholly uncertain of what it entails, and relying on another person to define… everything.

In another life, Sarah Linden adopts Adrian.
The years he spends since his mother’s murder are not in foster houses, but instead in a bedroom that is decorated into whatever he wants, the walls covered in colorful pencil drawings and artwork he has made. The image of the lake and the broken tree do not stay on the wall. Sarah saves him from that fate.
At 9 years old, Adrian meets Stephen. Though a bit older than D, Holder treats him like he treats his nephew.
And in this life, Adrian Sewerd is saved.

Everyone else on the expedition must having been googling shit like "how to get my bosses to either fuck nasty or get divorced" and "is proximity to the inherent-eroticism-of-being-rivals something I can bring to HR?"

It's crazy how people talk about loumand like they hate each other and have never once looked at each other with anything resembling lust, like two nuns at a silent covent. Buddy louis has had bed death with his husband, and that husband wasn't armand lemme tell you that!
