Reposted from @stayhomegallery It’s Monday which means new artists are headed to our residency! Let’s welcome Amanda Wiring and Amy Wilderson! Amanda Wirig’s paintings and mixed media work utilize pop culture and humor to address social and political issues in a meaningful and forthright manner. In addition to her art, she is a musician, teaching artist, and nonprofit arts administrator. From 2018-2019 she served as a fine arts juror as part of the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars. Wirig received a BFA in Art and a BA in Music from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and later received a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership from the same university. She has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout the US. She recently acquired representation with TRiCERA contemporary art gallery in Tokyo, Japan. She is the recipient of grants and fellowships from the Jerome Foundation, Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council/McKnight Foundation, the Minnesota State Arts Board, INFUSE Artists on Main Street, and the Split Rock Arts Program. Amy Wilderson is a Minneapolis based jewelry artist. Using metalsmithing, wire-working, and knotting techniques, her work taps into memory, culture, and heritage by reviving forgotten treasures (orphan earrings, broken dishes, souvenirs, etc) along with surplus or discarded items (computer elements, bra underwires, vintage glass Mardi Gras beads) and reclaimed metals, connecting them to gemstones that are associated with myth, power, and healing to create wearable, living stories. Her jewelry is featured on Springboard for the Arts’ Ready Made platform, in Next Avenue’s Vitality Arts series, and was exhibited in Minneapolis Institute of Art’s Foot In The Door 5:The Virtual Exhibition. She is the recipient of grants and fellowships from the Minnesota State Arts Board, Springboard for the Arts, United States Artists, CERFplus, and Luminary-NYC. Amy is also a teaching artist trained in Creative Aging/Vitality Arts/Artful Aging. She earned a BA in communication from Tulane University. 3. All works of art welcome. One shots, drabbles, moodboards, whatever your fancy. If your story is more than 500 words, you must use a keep reading. One square per fic (note: multi-chapters can use more than one square, but it must be one per chapter). Fics can be smutty; angsty/whump; fluff; whatever your heart desires. Just put appropriate warnings (i.e.: dubcon).
4. Wait - there’s a song listed - what am I supposed to do? The song is the prompt! I encourage you to listen to the song (obvs you do not have to). Teeth scraping!!! Like grinding teeth or the sound of people biting forks or spoons or ugh. Also the sound of metal scraping!! I hate it!!! As for a sound I love? I think it has to be the sound of rain or the faint sound of wind when you have your window open.

I believe. I’ve seen too much not to believe lmao.

No, I’m 27 and still can’t drive because I’m a pansy and scared lmao.
IF SO, HAVE YOU EVER CRASHED?
Don’t drive. But I was in a bad car accident with a friend in high school. We were on our way to school and the traffic in front of us stopped to let some fire trucks out. In the backseat my one frined was like “Hey isn’t that __?” ( another girl from school ) as he was looking behind us. Suddenly that girl SLAMMED into us at over 60+ miles per hour. Turns out she had been looking at her phone to text someone. Ended up causing the entire underside of our car to shift forward and sent the car we were in flying forward a good 15-20 feet ( luckily the people in front of us saw us coming and sped up and moved into a ditch to avoid us colliding head-on with them ). We couldn’t open the doors on my side so I and the friend in the backseat had to crawl out the driver door. The other girls car caught fire, she was covered in blood because she slammed her head, and I ended up with a concussion and whiplash. My mom who was called told me she saw the other cars smoke from far down the road and panicked lmao. ( Funny enough: as the cops were taking statements another car crashed and then sped off quickly. Causing us to have to watch the police chase after them ).

Does cleaning / organization count as an obsession? I love to completely organize areas and I jump at any chance because I just??? Enjoy doing it lmao! ( I also have been playing Cookie Run and a few other mobile games which have been fun! // Also Bendy and the Ink Machine has a hold of me right now for some reason again lmao )

Sort of. Depends on what they did. But, yeah, I still hold grudges and scowl when I see my former bullies or family members who hurt / wronged me lmao.
