“Best Friend” / 親友
I’ve been mulling over this for a few days, wondering if I’m overthinking things, or if there is actually something to it.
Gojo and Geto are like a pair of parents. And I think it’s deliberate. Hear me out.
See, from a non-native pov, I can pick apart this coined phrase for best friends, shinyuu “親友” or “family friend” into its individual kanji: 親 and 友
The first kanji on its own, oya “親” can be read as “parents”. The second kanji on its own is tomo “友” can be read as “friend”. How a kanji character is read changes according to context within a sentence, topic, or what it is paired with. It can be difficult to explain if you’re not used to the language, so I’ll leave it at that for the purposes of not complicating this post.
They both considered each other their 親友 - best friend. There is only one pair of people who considered each other this “best friend” terminology in the series. Gege could have used Nakama 仲間, or Brother, or even just Tomodachi 友達. TaisetsunaHito 大切な人 is definitely a step too far. No other best friend. Yuji is several people’s “brother” but not best friend. Gojo and Geto are a pair. A duo. The canon-confirmed “たった一人の親友” my one and only best friend status is mutual.
As friends, we know they split up. There is no mention of 親友 / best friend-ism at this point. But they unequivocally considered each other as such, and they never ever had another 親友 until their dying day.
The fact that there is the kanji for “parent” in the phrase for “best friend” is poetic. “Oya/親” is obviously the same word used by Gojo in the kfc breakup scene, because that’s the kanji for it, and that’s what Geto did - kill his parents.
I’ll use this to illustrate:
親 = parents (consisting of mum + dad).
親友🤍 + 親友🖤
To add to the latter, this potential theme, they both go onto adopting kids. Their different parenting styles speak for themselves ofc, but that’s by the by.
Gojo and Geto’s separation played a part in setting off this huge domino effect too. Geto also described how his parents are not his only family now. We also know he considers close non-blood-related persons to be as “family” - like how he offered Kuroi the acceptance of her feelings towards Amanai as “family”. He saw Gojo and the school as family - that is, until he saw how the system was willing to sacrifice their own kind. It isn’t a stretch to see the parallels between what Geto is sharing about severing that bond with his parents (and also with Gojo) and finding another “family” by choice.
Obviously Gege isn’t drawing the parallel by bringing parents into it just due to their best friend status. I headcanon that it was to start anew, not be a hypocrite, to spare them from the monster he’d become, and to eliminate the likelihood they’d be used against him in any way. The last 2 reasons would be to drive in the emphasis that there is a similarity with Rika (who was rumoured to have been the reason for her parents’ deaths although they occurred separately) and... that this would mean that Geto was also separating from his “family” in HI - the duo that was Gojo and Geto. Gojo ascended without him in his quest to become the strongest, and Geto descended to pursue his twisted form of meaning to make his ideal a reality.
It might just be reaching and a coincidence, but I remember that Gege loves these little itty bitty details in character and lore design - like birthdates, dates, flower language, religion, specific kanji used for names, etc - just to name a few. It helps him illustrate significance and I guess adds a touch of sophistication and layering in his storytelling. I absolutely love it. We know by design SatoSugu / Gojo and Geto are meant to be counterparts, so black & white, yin and yang, light and dark, elite and common, even their names are quite fitting, GojO SatoRU and GetO SuguRU .
The kanji / characters selected are also deliberate - Satoru 悟 being “enlightenment” and Suguru 傑 being “outstanding”. The Gojokesa 五条袈裟 was also deliberate, Geto 夏油 has the word “summer” as part of his name and his birthday is setsubun (1st day of spring) where ghosts/evil spirits are chased away. Gojo’s is the heaviest snowfall.
My examples are limited to just satosugu, but you know other characters have similar situations with how the kanji for their names were chosen - e.g. simplest that come to mind is 七海建人 Nanami : 七 = 7 and his ratio technique 7:3 and his hair style too 70%30% parting, 海 = sea, 建人 = human builder (…lol, Gojo entrusted Yuji to him after all…); utahime 歌 = song/music, etc.
My point is that there are a lot of little details like these, so I concluded that I’ll just share this thought I had. The pair of 親友 breaking up is a bit like “partners in crime” no longer being partners anymore, and went about their separate ways but fostered “families” of their own.
TLDR: scene in front of the KFC was really a breakup (◞‸◟)

Can I share something? So, I got into JJK fandom because of my bestie (forever I'll be thankful to her). And of course, I got to know my otp, Gojo/Geto. They are just the best. Love them more because of the amazing fanarts and fanfics of this ship. Also, I found a lot SatoSugu blogs and learn from them (including your amazing blog).....
Now, my bestie ship Gojo/Yuji. Why? Because, before into JJK fandom, she is BL fan first. And guess her favorite trope? "Teacher-student relationship" and "Age-gap" (yeah, I know, those tropes are not for everyone, even I don't get her taste). And she wrote GoYuu fics and ask me to read them.
So, I read them and give her my opinion. There is a scene where Yuji (20 years old) got insecure because Gojo (35 years old) always talk about his ex-bf Geto (35 years old). And said, "Even if we broke up, he is still my one and only...best friend. I trust him the most even for my life, etc)". When Yuji finally met Geto, Geto said, "Not to worry, Itadori, and please take care of Satoru, we have broken up so no need to be jealous." And to Gojo, "Please be more understanding, Satoru, because your boyfriend, your ex student is still young and you need to grow up."
I asked my friend, why she still wrote Gojo and Geto's bond so strong. (Like, when Gojo and Yuji fought, Gojo instanly ran to Geto). You know what my friend said, "I would call go/ge as close to canon as a queer ship can get in shounen. Their relationship is special. I'm not blind, I just ship Gojo and Yuji more. And it's a fact, if I wrote Gojo then I need to wrote Geto, too...."
Sorry for my long ask. What do you think? Funny right, Gojo/Yuji fic but Gojo and Geto still there....
No need to apologize!
I maintain that Gege Akutami wrote Gojo and Geto so intentionally, so intrinsically, that any writers would still have to solution how to deal with their relation to one another. I don't know that this is the only ship this is true for, per se.
But I think part of what makes them hard to separate is the fact that, if you're relying on any form of canon as the framework for your story, you have to contend the fact that Gojo demonstratively lacks intimacy with anyone else like he has established with Geto. He's not as touchy, not as trusting, not as inspired (he only freaks out when something happens to Geto) with anyone else, demonstratively. He's so relatively shut off from others that it presents a hurdle to write around.
Now, if it's a Geto focused ship, I think it's a lot easier to circumvent because he seemingly has motivations that are more broad. I still believe his mission to be rooted in affection, but he is a creature of subtlety. Like. I say Geto is kind and gentle and generous but he, even before defecting, was capable of cruelty, condescension, rebellion. He's just overshadowed by Gojo's flippancy and bravado.

“always an angel, never a god” and why it only works with gojo, not geto
ft. gojo & geto
Not Strong Enough - boygenius, Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus
The song lyric "always an angel, never a god" from the song Not Strong Enough has been making its rounds on SatoSugu TikTok and I'm here to talk about it (mainly why I think the general interpretation of the line referencing Geto's POV is wrong, and that it only works well with Gojo's POV).
Here is an example of the popular interpretation (Geto's POV):
Tumblr media
On an entirely surface level analysis, without any deep-diving or true understanding, this makes sense. Gojo became the strongest and left Geto behind. Geto was strifed with this, knowing it would be impossible to catch up. Therefor, he is the "angel" that can never become a "god"; Geto can never be Gojo. He can't even match him.
This interpretation implies that Geto was jealous of Gojo. Jealous of the power that allowed him to be better than everyone, exercise more curses, and do more right in the world. Jealous that Gojo left him behind. Jealous that Geto can never catch up or be on the same level as Gojo. Jealous of the fact that Gojo got to live a life Geto can't even dream of achieving.
I disagree with this analysis of Geto entirely. To put it simply: it's wrong. The only jealousy Geto felt comes from one of the much more glaring issues I'm about to talk about. Geto's problems never came from Gojo. It all has to do with curses, depression, and jujutsu society, not the fact that he and Gojo have differing power levels.
Geto is special-grade sorcerer. Need I remind you that, before the Culling Games revived hundreds of sorcerers, there were only four special-grade sorcerers in jujutsu society. Yuki Tsukumo, Okkotsu Yuuta, Gojo Satoru, and Geto Suguru. Sure, you can make the argument that Gojo far surpasses everyone else on this list, but that's not the point. The problem here, in relation to Geto's internal conflict, is that both he and Gojo are too strong. Shoko's cursed technique makes it so she doesn't go on solo missions. After Gojo ascended in Hidden Inventory, jujutsu society deemed that Gojo no longer needed to, nor should, work with a partner. With Shoko out for the count, that meant Geto was also stuck fighting alone. He felt like he was drifting away from his friends, and instead of reaching out, he was worsening it by pushing them further and further away and refusing to let them in on his struggles.
Cursed Spirit Manipulation. As I've stated, Geto's strong, and this is mainly due to his cursed technique. He has said on numerous occasions that swallowing curses is horrible. "The taste of a cursed spirit that no one else knows... like swallowing whole a cloth that was used to wipe up vomit...". Even this quote alone exemplifies how ostracizing this experience was for Geto, and he'd already ingested hundreds, if not thousands, of cursed spirits at this point. No one else can understand him. No one else can understand how much of a toll this takes on his psyche. It's clear why he was pushing people away. He never felt that they could share his burden.
His gradual development of depression. Geto sunk away from his friends as they were put on more solo missions. I can't reinstate this enough: his mental condition worsened every day, and he turned to no one but himself. He felt as though he was climbing a grueling, tall mountain with the pointed summit obscured by clouds. This isn't an analysis based solely on dialogue, either; physically, he was drawn with slouches, eyebags, a quiet demeanor, taking long pauses to do something as simply as lift his gaze, as though that takes his body too much energy to complete. He was severely depressed and utterly alone.
The inherit flaw of jujutsu society. Alone, depressed, and fighting the never-ending battle, Geto confronted the elephant in society that everyone ignores: it will never stop. Humans have negative emotions. These normal people, the majority of humanity, cannot fight the curses they create with their negativity. It's inevitable. Only people that can see curses and have cursed energy can deal with this problem. There is only one way to fix this, so Geto would never have to swallow another curse again, so he can be friends with the people he loves -- turn everyone into a sorcerer, and kill them if they don't comply.
This is Geto's character. Gojo is in it very little, because you know why? Gojo was never the problem. Gojo was just another knight being used to capture pawns by the higher-ups of jujutsu society, but never to checkmate the king. Geto's infamous line "Are you the strongest because you're Gojo Satoru, or are you Gojo Satoru because you're the strongest?" has nothing to do with jealousy. In fact, Geto felt quite the opposite. He saw the Gojo for what he was (what I just mentioned), and felt his hatred for society rear it's head. He was seeing his best friend be used, and he wanted nothing more than to end both of their sufferings. I do believe that people comparing "always an angel, never a god" to Geto & his strife with Gojo is a consequence of people misunderstanding the aforementioned "Are you... the strongest?" line. He never wanted to be as powerful as Gojo. He wanted them to be happy. And they could never have been that in jujutsu society.
Now. Here's where this essay gets BETTER. Because I am going to tell you why I think this fits Gojo much better than it would ever fit Geto. And you're probably thinking: "But Gojo is a god. He ascended and became the Honored One." Yeah, he did that, and he said that, but Gojo also said he would win. And he didn't. So. His words are worth nothing to me. Let's take a deep dive into Gojo's POV:
Tumblr media
Before I get in further, this interpretation is not of Gojo believing that Geto is the god, the being higher than Gojo, because, while there is merit to the interpretation, that's not what I'm going for. This analysis is about Gojo and a reflection upon himself and jujutsu society, not necessarily comparing himself to Geto.
To me, this is a much better interpretation of this lyric. We all know Gojo is better than everyone else. The narrator of Jujutsu Kaisen will explain someone's ability, say they are the best in an aspect, then say "except for Gojo Satoru, of course." Gojo is simply better. I know this, and that is exactly the point I'm going to make using this song lyric.
Gojo is the Honored One. He's better, he's faster, he's smarter, he's stronger. In theory, there is no limit to his power. As Geto said during the KFC break-up, Gojo could achieve the goal that he claims is impossible for others - he could kill all of humanity, or force them to become sorcerers. Everybody knows he is stronger. Everybody knows that he can do whatever he wants, and if he wanted, he can force other people to do what he wants, too. But in reality, he can't.
Corruptness of jujutsu society and the exploitation of love. The problem with Gojo is that he has two enemies: 1. The higher-ups. No matter what, no matter how hard he fights, jujutsu society has placed a shackle over him. If he wants to save those he loves, he has to operate within those bonds of society. But yet, the higher-ups hate him. They hate that he doesn't respect those weaker than him. They hate his power. They see him as a threat that must be contained. So they contain him. They put the ones he loves into precarious situations that force his hand. In his effort to work against the higher-ups, he is forced to work within their bounds, too. There is no winning. Gojo once said, "Love is the most twisted curse of them all." He knows this because he has experienced it. The ten years he and Geto were separated was because of the chains of jujutsu society. What is a god, if he is strapped to the mortal plane? What is a god, if he has no control over his position on the chess table?
Those that don't wish to be saved. Gojo's second enemy: the human psyche. To put it simply, if they don't want to be saved, then Gojo cannot save them. This is what happened with Geto. Geto became depressed, and he pushed Gojo away, and there was nothing Gojo could have done. It isn't any more complicated than that. A god could save the ones he loved. Gojo is no god. He is an angel. His hands are tied behind his back, and all he can do is watch as the one he loved was stripped away from him.
Gojo is always the angel, never the god. He is a responsive unit to the ones above him, and an observer of those that have turned away from him. In truth, despite the popular belief of other characters, he cannot force anyone to do anything. Physical power can only go so far. There is a limit to limitless. An angel can have limitless power, but it can't use all of it unless comanded.
Conclusion: This is going to be hard for you to hear, but I really need to say it. Not every popular audio or emotional quote can fit your fav. I know. I know it hurts. It's the toughest pill to swallow. I, too, force my favs into songs that don't fit them. But we need to leave SatoSugu alone with this one unless it's done right. There are other parts of this song that REALLY fit Geto well: "Every clock's a different time. It would only take the energy fix it." ; "I don't know why I am the way I am." ; "I tried, I can't stop staring at the ceiling fan and spinning out about things that haven't happened." Then there's this line that fits the ship really well: "Skip the exit to our old street and go home. Go home alone." Here is an example because this is actually such a banger lyric:
Tumblr media
The accompanying trend: "Know it's for the better // All I wanted was you" fits them. So much better. I also think that "always an angel, never a god" fits a lot of other JJK duos, just not SatoSugu. It works with Mai and Maki especially well.
Conclusion Part 2: WE CAN DO BETTER THAN THIS PEOPLE. SatoSugu is heart-wrenching. Keep making it heart-wrenching.

I’m honestly trying to find someone to give me some insight / confirmation the whole jjk fandom isn’t like this because I’m genuinely so disheartened.
So I have a friend who lives in Japan I met online who goes to lots of conventions. She told me that gojo has been confirmed straight by the creator Gege in multiple magazines and interviews in Japan. After I was told that I did toms of research and saw proof that was true.
I’m someone who likes to follow canon simply because I like facts and like to be respectful to the authors creation. Obviously he people want to headcanon that’s fine! I just like following canon.
Earlier today I made a theory post about something which I briefly brought up gojo being confirmed straight and sited my sources (it wasn’t even the MAIN point of the theory. It was a part of it but not the main focus)
IMMEDIATELY after , like 10 minutes my inbox was SWARMED. I had people calling me homophobic (when I’m in the community) a piece of shit, I disappointment. I got told to off myself. My favorite fanfiction blog with a BIG following dmed me to delete my account and to shut up.
All because I said Gege confirmed Gojo to be straight in canon with sourced proof.
I really really don’t feel well after this? For one my favorite blog dming me that was upsetting, people telling me to kill myself also upsetting.
I don’t even understand why though?
Like the proof of Gojo being confirmed straight is on Twitter with magazine translation from Japan where Gege said it. It’s been said in more than one interview with Gege.
So why are people so mad about it if it’s canon?
As I said head canons are fine feel free to make them.. but sending death threats to people like me who follow canon is just crazy?
Now I feel like leaving the fandom and tumblr. Like this is crazy.
As someone who follows canon I follow Gojo being a straight man as that is what Gege has confirmed in multiple interviews.
Gojo is straight in canon that’s what Gege confirmed that’s what I follow.
But why am I getting death threats for that? What’s wrong with canon?
I just don’t get it and honestly it’s really just made me not like this fandom and I wish someone would explain what I did wrong by following canon and linking sources to prove it- I’m just confused
for starters, i am so sorry for the hate that you received. it is never ok to send someone death threats/tell them to kys. it's ok to have differing opinions, it's ok to debate and argue (granted ofc you're allowed to delete/ignore messages if you want, you're not obligated to explain yourself to anyone), but if you can't do that respectfully then you must be too young to be on this app. period.
i'm sorry you had that experience. everyone's allowed their own opinions. whether it involves headcanoning or following canon, everyone's entitled to feel the way they want. at the end of the day, they're fictional characters. personally i love satosugu. i think their story is so angsty and complicated and fascinating. do i care if someone has a differing ship? no. ofc i don't. it's a fictional character. i go about my day like an adult.
obviously i'm getting one half of the situation here so i won't speak to why people were calling you homophobic, if you were just providing sources i don't see the big deal. but (i am also a member of the alphabet soup) i know how it feels to be questioned and prodded at for my (a real life person!) sexuality, and my instinct is to get defensive to protect myself and my peace. i might be making leaps there... i'm just trying to relate that in real life, it's easy for people to spread homophobic rhetoric without realizing that's what they're doing.. you know? (ie: i'm bi and my partner and i are het presenting. i get an earful from toxic family all the time. 'are you sure?' 'if you marry him, aren't you straight now?' etc etc. i'm sure you get the gist)
i'm not trying to say that's what you were doing. again, i've only got half of the picture here.
and again, you should not have received the treatment you did. it was immature and cruel.
i hope i articulated this well. feel free to ask any questions if i confused you. <3

Finally I found your account dedicated tu Megumi and Tsumiki and....I've read so many of your posts and you're totally right. Fandom nowadays is..idk how to call it..way too obsessed with male×male shipping ignoring way too obvious hints Gege is shoving to readers mouth. I mean these last chapters of Megumi being solebroken pointed by Sukuna and it's because of Tsumiki despite the whole backstory and motivation, his type it's all about Tsumiki...and fandom is still refusing and ignoring and also bullying if you have this kind of opinion..sigh. It's not only they pissed about megumiki possibility but also about yutamaki and itakugi (who also had tons of hints). This really is sad thing that audience is too dumb and can't read properly
Hey hey!!!
Ah my poor abandoned megumiki blog 🥲. Thanks for stopping by and glad you found this little corner of the internet! I considered deleting the blog but someone told me that it's a place for megumiki fans to come and realize that it's safe to love this underrated ship despite what the hive mind might say.
To your point about fandom, at the exception of one instance which I instigated, I've had a couple of trolls stop by and try to harass/bully me over this account and unfortunately for them not only do I love feeding trolls, they're also just not very smart? Like at all?
One of the trolls was adamant about Megumi and Tsumiki being blood related and like... SIGH... if this is the non-existent level of reading comprehension we are dealing with I just don't want to deal with people like that. The fact that they are step siblings is not even subtext ffs.
I've since untagged anything that includes the names Megumi or Tsumiki and only tag megumiki or megutsumi to preserve my peace of mind. Unfortunately this makes it hard to find this blog.
More word vomit under the cut...
Anyways...
You know what's funny? another moot and I kind of predicted that we would get an ambiguous moment between megumiki and that the fandom would cancel that moment and just say "oh its because she's his sister" and like... is this fandom predictable or what?
Because totally. Megumi's soul broke because of Tsumiki and all fandom can see is the itafushi and satosugu parallels.
And like... don't get me wrong, I actually LOVE itafushi and think it makes A LOT of sense--I just don't necessarily ship itafushi and that's perfectly ok.
So I have to admit it does irk me that megumiki gets cancelled by the antis and that reading the panel of Megumi declaring Tsumiki as his type is seen as a poor interpretation. LE SIGH.
Like there's this big account here on Tumblr who gets offended whenever the question comes up about Megumi's type and publicly declares that its canon that Megumi is SOLELY talking about Yuji here.
Me: ok yes. I get it. The kanji is hiding a secret message. But you're going to tell me that you think of your sibling when someone asks you who your type is? Because I sure don't. Not even to represent the idea of who I like. In fact, the idea of thinking of my brother feels repulsive to me. Ew. Gross. No!
It's like people can't handle the idea that Megumi can see both Tsumiki and Yuji as his type. Why is that such a crime? Like come on people, he's suuuuuuper weird about her and I love him all the more for it.
Oh wait... that's right. Gross, they're blood related! 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️.
The state of the fandom really is sad from that perspective. But I have to say that the fetishization of "gayness" is another huge problem--especially when people get called homophobic for not shipping the gay ships in JJK.
Like... my brother in christ, my two favorite ships are gay af and I am very VERY bisexual and pansexual. Please. Talk about poor interpretations ffs.
That's not to say everyone does it, but the vast majority does... unfortunately, a few rotten apples can ruin a fandom experience.
As you say, on top of fetishizing "gay", fandom is also misogynistic in this really weird way. God forbid you ship a hetero ship in JJK.
Like the reaction from itafushi fans when Hana had her wings torn by Sukuna actually broke my heart! People were legit rejoicing at the fact that Megumi stepped up to defend Yuji as though he wouldn't have done it for Hana if he could have.
So it's ok for Yuji and Megumi to loooooooove each other deeply (which they totally do), but God forbid Hana has a crush on him.
There's this REALLY good post that I reblogged to my main blog (but that I can't find for the life of me rn) that goes into the heterophobia that is rampant in fandoms nowadays. If I run into it again I'll make sure to reblog it here too.
Because that's exactly what it is: heterophobia and biphobia.
I get it that straight people and the dominant culture oppressed LGBT people for too long, and that's no reason for the pendulum to swing in the complete opposite direction and to hate on heteroships and the people who love them.
Honestly, I feel like at this point, the inclusive thing to do is to ship hetero ships. I know I ship a bunch of different dynamics, whether gay, lesbian, bi or straight. And I don't ship them because of their sexual orientation but because of the dynamic.
And that is not to say that people shouldn't ship characters based on their sexual orientation either.
Basically, ship and let ship.
Anyways, this is why I don't tweet very much at all lol 🤣. I word vomit too much for twitter.
Thanks for stopping by!!!

Hi, I just read your answer to the anon question about Satoru and Utahime. When you talk about Satoru's ideal type, if it's based on the JujuSanpo where he is talking to Utahime about the nice girl with notable bangs (Miwa), apparently this is up to interpretation, many people think they were talking about a different topic (probably about the girl who took a picture with Satoru?) and not about Satoru's ideal type because the question was addressed to female students, also Utahime's lack of reaction. Like I said before, this is up to interpretation and it was propably Gege's intention to cause confusion not only about the context but also about Satoru's type.
Anyway I agree with the anon, Satoru and some other characters are so mistreated by the fandom, they don't even do it with the villains. Also I like your meta-answer! I just wanted to add the above data because it's something I saw trying to find out if Satoru's type is someone like Miwa (not Miwa of course) or what Gege was trying to say. I admit that for a short period of time I found gojohime a bit attractive although not anymore and I fully understand what you mean about them. I'm not totally against it either, there are much worse ships.
Now my personal opinion about satosugu: i lean more towards platonic love between them, that in this case in no way is less than romantic love. If Satoru's type is based on Suguru, his only best friend and moral compass sometimes, well ... Hahah this kind of remind me Megumi's type who is someone like Tsumiki, his sister and compass too.
I think I went a bit overboard here, sorry. I love your metas/opinions about jjk, thank you for all the effort and kindness! Stay healthy!
Thank you for your kind message ♥
That juju sanpo is not meant to imply that Gojo’s type is Miwa, is a very tricky hint actually. Hints can’t be read by itself, because they get meaning in relation with other hints, in a major context. Objectively Satoru is only asking Utahime who was the girl who asked him for a photo, probably to show off because he knew that was a Utahime's student (“I’m so cool even your students are fan of me”, something like that). But the scene is right after the “who is your type?” and we don’t get the full conversation, only the part where he refers to the “bangs”. The context where the scene is inserted and the words in which does focus aren’t just casualty, are on purpose. What Gege is trying to say without saying it is that Satoru likes bangs. That hints and the fact that in the fanbook is mentioned that the first thing Satoru noticed on Suguru was bangs and Gege insisting with bangs when asked about what he keeps in mind when drawing Suguru, bring me to the conclusion that the hint is: Satoru ideal type are people with bangs. Gege chooses carefully what information to share in those interviews, his insistence on bangs related to Suguru is probably a hint. Of course, this wouldn’t be enough to sustain satosugu, this only makes sense in the context of their whole story.
About ideal type, I had already had a discussion about how Megumi thinks in Tsumiki while answering what his ideal type is doesn’t mean he is in love with her. What people find attractive about others is less random than people think, and tends to portray aspects of themselves. In Megumi’s case, his values, in which Tsumiki has a big role in. But to assume that he is in love with her just because her words came to his mind, is a very poor interpretation in my opinion.
About romantic or platonic… the idea that romantic love is peak form of love and sex it consumation is part of the myths of romantic love in my opinion. Sex is a sensory expirience and its not tied to love necesarily. That is because the idea that you must have sex with the love one and that you can only have sex with the love one are so problematic. And I even dare to say, they are false.
Regarding satosugu, if they shared sexual desire for the other or not is not even an importat aspect to reach the conclusion if they were in love or not. I dare to say that they have one of the best representations of love in fiction.

5. What character that you’re writing do you most identify with?
I'm primarily writing for JJK (& a bit of Haikyuu!! too) atm, so I'd have to say Megumi. He's always struck me as a more introverted character than broody or stoic; he's pragmatic but has moments where emotion overrides his logic, cares so much about his few close family/friends, and is developing confidence in himself/his abilities, all of which I can definitely relate to. Also, we both think Yuuji is the epitome of goodness and sunshine, so there's that lol.
8. Is what you like to write the same as what you like to read?
Overall, yeah! Sometimes I get in a mood for some light angst, but not often, which is why the majority of my fic is hurt/comfort and fluff. I also enjoy reading long fic, as well as fantasy AUs (I'm actually a huge sucker for pirate/mermaid AUs!), though I don't really write them myself anymore.
14. At what point in writing do you come up with a title?
Oof, usually at the end right before posting. Very rarely do titles make themselves known to me beforehand or during a fic. I usually just browse through my pretty words tag until I find something that feels right lol. I think plant kisses like seeds and love's only demand is that we fall are the only titles that were 100% known before the fic(s) were written.
19. Is there something you always find yourself repeating in your writing? (favourite verb, something you describe ‘too often’, trope you can’t get enough of?)
For sure! Y'all know I love tropes like first kisses, friends-to-lovers, sharing a bed, and nightmare-induced h/c. I've written a couple of fics using some variant of the phrase "hands out in front of [them] like [they're] placating a wild thing", because the symbolism of earning the trust of a frightened creature in relation to emotionally fragile characters is just *chefs kiss* to me, and I know I use "startled out of [their] reverie" a lot. I give a lot of attention to describing heartbeats and eyes too, I think. (Sometimes I get a little too in my head about it when I realize I'm reusing the same tropes/adjectives/phrasing but I figure that's just my writing style.)
20. Tell us the meta about your writing that you really want to ramble to people about (symbolism you’ve included, character or relationship development that you love, hidden references, callbacks or clues for future scenes?)
Ugh, I wish I could answer this question for LOD because I could probably ramble about that for a while, but since it's not published yet I hope this is okay! I remember writing this section of on purpose, i love him and wondering if anyone would catch on to the double-meaning:
Love is the greatest curse of all, he remembers Gojo saying once, not directed at Megumi but hollow beneath his breath as if he were reminding himself, and although his eyes had been covered Megumi could tell his gaze was far away, focused on some distant memory that he couldn’t begin to imagine. Of all the lessons Gojo’s taught him over the years, this is the one that Megumi understands best.
He fell in love with a dead man, after all. The fact that he manages to return doesn’t make that fact any less true. Still, despite knowing this can only end in tragedy, Megumi chooses Itadori anyway. Grabs on with a white-knuckled grip and refuses to let go no matter the inevitable agony because Megumi’s a sorcerer and sorcerers exist to exorcise curses and Itadori Yuuji the boy deserves to be loved wholly.
Which is that Megumi, as a sorcerer, intends to exorcise the "curse" of love by allowing himself to love Yuuji unconditionally (Idk if that makes sense??). Also, it's a bit of a parallel to SatoSugu's relationship, though ItaFushi's is (hopefully) headed for a better endgame.

hi its me!!! :DDD your post about maki respecting mai's wishes and instead of discarding it decided to center her wish ("to get stronger") around it ("so that mai would have a place") is honestly so true? like i'm the middle child between my two idiot brothers but if theres something they want to do then who am i to stop them? if anything i should support them after all right? and the fact that this was something i thought of when thinking of the two even without realizing it is something i wholeheartedly love , like the episode that featured the two gave me so much feelings and i didnt know why until i realized it was because of the fact i was a sister and the fact that gege has captured that feeling between the twins so well and made that radiate in the audience amazes me so much like props to the man seriously.
(also have you seen the new update? gege sensei says he hates gojo but then why are you having characters looking like him then (the angel and the other choso-looking fella) fr gege-sensei if u miss the man that much then give him back along w nobara then smh)
anyways sorry for the big blob of text again i havent had the time to ramble bc my exams are like in the next next day so--jghdhjsgf pray for me my pea brain cannot w me rn anywho what do you think about satosugu? (like not just the ship but like their roles in the story, and etc.) I also might post a jjk meta about blessings and stuff once my exams are over bc i always thought it was interesting that instead of that humans instead have the ability to use cursed energy instead so uh look forward to that? kdfhsdjkf anyways bye ig kjdh
SO MUCH WUV FOR U thank u for sharing with me!!
jflkasj im not sure, i think its just gege and same face syndrome, he's like "yeah all bastards should look like this :D." he's valid tbh, gojou is a menace
did you see gege's comments on characters' valentine chocolates count like jlfksajf
i love satosugu!! its the thing that pulled me into jjk in fact. overpowered character who makes a fatal, unthinkable mistake that ends up pummeling the entire world into hell bc he's too gay - whats better than that? i end up liking the philosophy and the curses in jjk and how they relate to the common fear and other negative experience of regular people (the fear of the earth, the sea, of nature are obvious, but there is also mahito manifested from the hatred of other people, and kenjaku, presumably from the fear of the intellect, "curiosity kills the cat" etc etc ITS ALL SO INTERESTING) a lot more than satosugu, but i love them all and i can multitask!! (read: crying about more than one thing at once)
and yeah im looking forward to your meta! i think gege might be onto something with never mentioning bless energy 👀 i wonder if it will make a pivotal point in the story??
good luck on ur tests!!

UGH PLEASE HIS HANDS!! THEY KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING ISTG!!! (if only those fingers were in my mouth or somewhere else ykyk🧎🏻‍♀️) Gojo please use those hands of yours on me
oh that part😅 yeah that one's... pleasant. his whole part arc is a really good insight on how he became the strongest and what he had to sacrifice for it. it's my favourite so far. it's a good time to read volume 0 now as well because it dives deeper into geto's actions and satosugu's end. (fun fact the street where geto asked gojo if "he's the strongest because he's satoru gojo or is he satoru gojo because he's the strongest" is called memory lane and they were standing in front of a kfc. now the whole fandom jokes abt gojo not being able to stand kfc because of it💀💀)
and yuuta is a really nice guy to me he was just a bit of a wuss at the start of volume 0.
i hope i didn't scare you too much from reading the manga now😅
p.s.: what is your opinion on papa fushiguro 👀
-🔮
manga spoilers !!
i really REALLY liked gojos arc. i liked how he went fucking INSANE, and TBH he was a cocky little bastard and deserved to get a good stabbing. i feel like that experience humbled him a midge. AND THE FACT THAT HE GOT SO SCARED WHEN HE FIRST SAW MEGUMI BAHAHA
getos character is interesting, i’m still slightly confused on how he decided to hate all humans but i think i get it. i wish they developed more scenes of him gojou and shoko together just so it would pull on my heartstrings more when he “betrayed” them by killing the whole village.
NOT HIM BEING SCARED OF KFC SBDBBRBF him and his va buddy keigo would not get along
very very excited to learn ab yuuta 😁
and toji okay... i love my dilf daddy and i love that he’s so fucking powerful without any cursed energy... BUT I GOT SO MAD THAT HE KILLED RIKO like yes she was going to die BUT I REALLY LIKED HER and i was like “oml she’s the love of my life” and then... toji just shoots her in the head... *cries*. besides that, i liked learning about his backstory, especially knowing that he does somewhat care about megumi idk i’m just a sucker for shitty fathers who show an ounce of goodness bc it’s very relatable. also he’s “dead” rn... i’m 90% sure he comes back but i was like 😨 when gojo said he killed him.

Random ask, who are your favorite romantic relationship's couples in any media, like anime/manga, tv series, books, etc (can be canon or non-canon)? Feel free if you want to write the reasons or not of why you love them....
Thank you so much for sending in an ask! I would love to answer this question! I didn't go through every fandom I've been in, though I went through quite a few!!! Usually, there is only one ship I really love in a fandom that ends up being my favorite, but I like/love plenty of ships and don't limit myself to just one ship. I will say that when it comes to engaging with fandom and fanfiction, I tend to actually prefer platonic relationships, centered on found family and blood-related family than anything else.
Bungou Stray Dogs -> Shin Soukoku (Akutagawa Ryuunosuke/Nakajima Atsushi). I think most of this comes from the way they are quite literally yin and yang (my favorite symbol of all time) in almost every aspect. I firmly believe Asagiri is beating us over the head with a mallet saying "Look! Look what I did! Please look!" I'm under no impression that they will be canon, but BEAST gives me the hope that they can at least become friends, and that's testament enough to the development they go through. There is just so much there. I'm not an enemies to lovers person, but for them, I make the exception. There are so many parallels to draw between them, so much to look at and really dig into. I'm not delusional enough to say they wouldn't be toxic (all of the BSD ships except for, like, RanPoe, are toxic let's be real), but I am lenient enough to say that they can be good to each other in fanfics and decent friends in canon. Also, this applies to their BEAST counterparts, too. BEAST makes them better.
Jujutsu Kaisen -> ItaFushi (Fushiguro Megumi/Itadori Yuuji). There is a sort of trend I have with shipping, I think. I tend to like the second most popular ship, usually the younger generation of the most popular ship, which is arguably a form of torture in and of itself. JJK is not as bad as the BSD fandom is about the popularity difference, but it's still painful. Anyway, I think my love for this ship stems from the fact that Megumi has a big fat crush on Itadori and I will accept, under no circumstances, any other interpretations of his relationship with Itadori. Everything from the SatoSugu parallels (who are one handhold away from being canon let's be real), to their whole shtick being to save each other (physically and mentally), to Megumi literally describing Itadori as his type of person. Gender neutral. Even though it is so incredibly easy to use gendered terms in Japanese as it is in English. I feel like Gege is doing this on purpose because there is just no way he sees this as normal friend stuff. Recent chapters got me in a chokehold. I am SCARED. Besides all this, I think they just work very well together. They are also horribly tragic. Perfect combination.
Genshin Impact -> Xiaother (Aether/Xiao). I debated pretty heavily with myself here on what my true favorite is. I came to this conclusion mainly for one reason: Xiao. I love Aether, but I love Xiao. He is my favorite character, right next to Razor, so obviously he carries this ship. I also think that, of all of the implied relationships Genshin has supplied in plenty, Xiaother has had the most development. Every scene with them is better than the last, and the way that they make each other better is something I adore. And as for the ship being specifically Aether and not Lumine or nonspecific, it's because I chose Aether, so I'm more accustomed to using him as the traveler vessel rather than Lumine, but I'm honestly fine with either.
Identity V -> Elisop (Aesop Carl | Embalmer/Eli Clark | Seer). I haven't played this game in a hot minute for storage and laptop reasons, and I'm also not updated with the lore (nor was I entirely familiar with it from the beginning, outside of the MAIN main lore). But this ship and game were a huge part of my personal development, I think, and I do want to return to playing it in an honest effort eventually (I WANT MY ROBBIE RANK BACK). I think I perceive it differently than other people do, mainly because people oscillate between two sides of the Aesop Carl characterization spectrum. But there is something really fun in the idea that Eli, with his ability to see the future, thinks that he can somehow "fix" Aesop, under the impression that his and Getrude's relationship will never mend. And Aesop, who sees Eli and feels real love for the first time, finds that he doesn't know if he wants to kill and embalm Eli, or if he wants to indulge in this feeling called love. Toxic, probably. Their color schemes also match very well together (which is actually what led me to ship them in the first place, before fandom influence), and they are extremely compatible gameplay-wise.
Haikyuu -> IwaOi (Iwaizumi Hajime/Oikawa Tooru). If you told me two or so years ago that this was my favorite Haikyuu ship, I would have LAUGHED IN YOUR FACE. I hated Oikawa and didn't care much about Seijou. But then. But then. I went through a like. Month-long Haikyuu revival not too long ago and only read IwaOi fics because I came to this revelation. Oikawa is really goddamn relatable. I think we are all, in a sense, Oikawa, at one point or another. He is THE teenager. He is someone you can project every single one of your problems onto because his struggles with being untalented and unworthy are interchangeable with pretty much any self-worth conflict: internalized homophobia, eating disorders, socializing, etc. Iwaizumi can also provide these internal debates, but in a context with Oikawa makes it even better. Does Oikawa carry this ship for me? Yes. I don't care what you think I'm not here to defend myself.
Voltron: Legendary Defenders -> Klance (Keith Kogane/Lance McClain). Do NOT talk to me. They have ruined my life in pretty much every aspect. Also an exception to the not shipping thing because they are kinda the whole reason I even watched this show past season... three probably. I don't even wanna talk about them anymore because it'll just upset me. Just know that as far as the Sheith vs Klance debate goes, Sheithers are wrong for that after Keith called Shiro his brother. There. I added my fuel to the ever-burning garbage fire that is Voltron shipping. I may talk about Klance again in the future but for now I wanna leave my thoughts off here.
Merlin BBC -> Merthur (Arthur Pendragon/Merlin). Thank you Merthur fandom for teaching me what a good fic is supposed to taste like. They are kind of the epitome of the ships I tend to gravitate to: TRAGIC. The ending of Merlin is traumatizing and the fact that all of the cast pretty shipped it (as well as you can see the faint mouthing of the words "I love you" in the final death scene) is like. The first true healthy immersion into a ship I've ever had. I never obsessed over them too hard, I think, but Merlin is still my favorite live-action show, and Merthur is always well and true to my heart. They also got me introduced to the master/servant trope in terms of medieval times, and I had a very long affinity for it in fanfiction. I don't like it as much anymore, but I look upon that time with happiness rather than the usual slight embarrassment.
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power -> Catradora (Adora/Catra). I also make an exception for enemies to lovers for them because they even added that extra-friendly step of friends to enemies to lovers. Genuinely, no show surprised me as much as She-Ra did. Shout out She-Ra for giving me the worst envy I've ever felt in my life. I want to rock a suit as well as Catra did in that one scene. Anyway, I loved their development. I know some people criticize it for being rushed towards the end, but I like the way they were able to forgive Catra so easily. They understood what it meant to be used and manipulated, what it meant to be unable to fight against oppressive forces. People are mad at compassion, even though that's the literal whole point of She-Ra. Whatever. They could never make me hate you Catradora.
Percy Jackson (all book series) -> Percabeth (Annabeth Chase/Percy Jackson). The blueprint. That's it. That's all you gotta know. I don't read fics about them because there is nothing to improve upon. One of the best written series and best written romances of all time. It was basically everything Avatar: The Last Airbender failed to do with Kataang (sorry for ragging on them for a second but that's the only thing I didn't like about ATLA; the romances) failed to accomplish, with all the same in-depth and wonderful characters. Like, they are everything I aspire to have in a relationship. The way they are simply meant for each other and aren't rushed, but are always implied to have that cutesy young crushes until they finally got together. I love them. Ugh. Uncle Rick you win again.
Anyway, these were some of my favorite ships of all time!! Sorry, I blabbered a lot. Probably listed more ships than you meant to but I take whatever opportunity I can to talk about things I enjoy IN DEPTH. There were also a lot of M/M romances, which, I swear to God, just happened out that way. I love plenty of F/F and F/M relationships, they just rarely end up as my top favorite. DO NOT accuse me of anything because I WILL NOT hear it.

Virgin Gojo lol, i think it's actually kinda funny whereas Geto was more approachable to women and had more luck while Gojo's entire personality is nigh unbearable to people who don't know him, so i wouldn't be surprised if he really is a virgin despite his good looks and all, because people like to headcanon him in alot of mediocre stuff
He is unbearable for people who do know him too lol He pulled Suguru’s nerves pretty often. The fact that the only person who could possibly have a romantic interest on him had a mental breakdown and became a mass murder should speak enough of him.
That tag you are referring to is just a joke to point out this last thing, satosugu can only think romantically when it is about each other and that is tragically funny because they won't ever be together.
However, if I have to talk seriously I have to say that I don’t even believe in “virginity” as a concept.
I believe sex is a very particular experience and sexuality is part of people’s identity, so is (also) very particular. There is many reason why a person is not sexual active and those reason aren’t always related to this idea of “nobody want to fuck them”. There is a prejudice against people who aren’t sexual active or don’t relate to other in sexual terms. Prejudice we need to leave behind.
On the other hand, the asociation of “true love” and “sexual fidelity” is problematic. People can feel romantic love without being sexual attrated to other or can share a romantic love with one person and have sex with many others. As I said, sex and sexuality are particular experiencies.
Maybe my joke was in the wrong context, I don’t want to feed the idea that those who don’t have sex are loser.
Do I have an idea of how Gojo sexual’s life is? No. There aren't any real hints, any idea will be at risk of falling into prejudice. So I would rather leave that page empty. And since I don’t write fanfic is not my problem lol
