Albumtober Day 14: Live at Leeds
Tumblr media
(Prompt: An album to play loud) The Who - Live at Leeds (1970)
I mean, it was obvious from the start I was going to pick this one. Live at Leeds is the definitive live rock album, from a band that was one of the loudest in the world during their prime. This isn't an album to play loud, this is the album to play loud. This album is pure distilled rock at its absolute peak. This album is… okay, okay, I'll stop before I start sounding like someone's boomer dad. But you get the idea.
The original LP is under 40 minutes long and contains only six tracks, three of them being covers. (It also contains various posters, flyers, receipts and other oddities.) The 1995 CD version, on the other hand, contains 14 tracks, bringing the total length up to 77 minutes. This version includes some great songs like "Heaven and Hell" (a live staple, written by John Entwistle, that never appeared on a Who studio album), "A Quick One While He's Away" (a nine-minute "mini opera" that foreshadowed their later rock operas), and "Amazing Journey" (a highlight from Tommy.) Personally, I dig the CD version. (You can't play vinyl records in the car.)
The centerpiece of any version of the album is undoubtedly the fifteen-minute "My Generation" medley featuring themes from Tommy and some riffing that would later form the basis for the song "Naked Eye". If you had to choose one track to represent the Who at their best, this would be a pretty strong contender. They were on fire here. They were on fire for the whole album.
Favorite tracks: "My Generation", "Substitute", "A Quick One While He's Away". (Yes, I'm counting the expanded version. Don't @ me.)

I love Stakeout (5x17) episode. I really do. You know, all these McDanno moments like sharing food, talking, confessing, arguing and of course being husbands (oh, I love Ruth).
Tumblr media
But my favourite moment is in the end. Danny giving Steve a guitar? Yeah, it's great too. But the best is just after that.
Tumblr media
When Steve sees the guitar he... Ohh. He says "Danny, Danny, Danny...".
Yeah, sure. It can mean just "Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you" or "Ayy, you're unbelievable, boy" or "Oh, you did it, for me" or "ehh, you didn't have to, you know? but aww thanks".
Tumblr media
But I also hear there "I love you, I love you, I love you". I love the tone of Steve's voice in that moment. It's so full of love and friendship and devotion. It's so soft, so warm. And so damn romantic. Yeah, Steve sounds like a lover in a fever. Like a man just kissing his beloved one (and asking for more). I mean, it's so passionate that I can't 😍 And I love that he says Danny's name not one but three times! Danny, Danny, Danny. It's like emphasis. And like mantra. Like a desire to say lover's name over and over again. Steve tastes Danny's name. He loves it. He always loves to call him Danno, Dan, Daniel, sir Daniel, Danny... But this time he says "Danny" in a different way. Like "Romeo, oh, my Romeo" (or should I say: Petruchio? cause sometimes it's like The taming of the Shmuck SuperSeal 😆).
(Has he seen THAT movie? Has he seen 10 things I hate about you and the "guitar scene"? Does he dream about such events, I mean: lovebird 1 buys lover 2 a guitar and lover 2 kisses lovebird 1? Does he dream about kissing Danny? 😉 Oh, Stevie, Stevie, you could then just say "I... I'm really grateful, you know. I wanted to thank you in a... non-neanderthal animal way, I mean... I wanted to be a gentleman" 🤭).
I know that he has been in love with Danny since he met him in his own garage. And yup, it's not a first time when one is doing something sweet and adorable for the other. But in this episode they were SO close. One flat, one room, one couch. No Ohana around. No activities. No danger (like in that episode with them being under the ruined building). Only spying (doing their job) and talking. There was a) we are sitting in the silence or b) we are sitting and talking. And Danny loves talking so... 😉 They were so close physically and also mentally. They were so intimate while confessing things. And Danny was right when he said that thing about Steve. Cause, yeah, Steve sometimes thinks that they're from two different worlds (ah, so romantic 😉). But Danny is right: they are not that different. They share many things, many pains (like losing a brother; Freddie/Matt). They feel each other so well. They're soulmates. And in that episode Steve is like "oh". He knows that Danny's words are true. And he knows that Danny is the best thing in his whole life. He knows that he can always share his secrets with him. But this time he sees it so damn clearly.
So they are so sweet to each other. There is very romantic mood around. There is SOMETHING. They share and share: that couch, food, secrets, feelings, thoughts about each other. And it's all more and more romantic. And Steve is so openhearted, he talks about his old fears and trauma and about the shame. And Danny tries to heal him. They both try - yeah, they don't need that therapy but I think that was a good idea to make them so close again. To make them talk in that intimate way.
So, all is so romantic and in the end boom! Danny gives him that guitar, Danny shows him "I feel you so much, babe and I wanna make you happy and free from traumas". Danny is so cute. So gentle. So gentle that it could make Steve cry. I can imagine that Steve is screaming inside. And that there are butterflies in his stomach 😉 It looks like... something happened. Like... another "something" in their relationship. So romantic something that... Danny, Danny, Danny. Bravo, Williams. More moments like this and this poor boy will finally confess more and more. Will finally confess THAT feeling.
Wow. One damn guitar and we've got McGarrett Romantic Mode On. McGarrett shining like the Sun. McGarrett being so gentle, so much in awe and being... courted by Danny 😊 Oh. My. Poor. Heart.
Ok, confession. You know, I'm not a native English-speaker. And maybe when I hear a word X and think "gosh, it sounds just like word Y" well, I'm wrong. Maybe you would tell me "nah, Ell, no way, two different words, no way". Ok, ok, confession: You know what? When I was watching that episode for the first time, I didn't hear Steve's "Danny, Danny, Danny". What did I hear instead? "Honey, honey, honey" 😁 And I was like:

I finally watched Swedish Christ Superstar
Remember how I did a whole deep dive into the 2018 one? Yeah well, I was gonna try to do that with this version, but it is so unbelievably, completely, utterly, insanely unhinged that I just had to have my post about it match the energy. So without further ado, here are my literal first reaction notes to Jesus Christ Superstar (2014 Swedish Arena Tour).
Overture-
• Ooh the stuttering guitar is so metal
• Love the outfits, give me more apocalyptic leather headbanging nonsense
• Love how the choreo goes with the music rather than pure immediate chaos
• Admittedly the orchestra could be a bit better, but not terrible
• The shopping cart is my favorite character
• This feels almost interpretive
• Ok. Jesus is hot
• Draculacore
• Is he orgasming?
• I think that's an appropriate tone to be set
• I will say, I like productions with more color, but I see the style they're going for and I don't dislike it
Heaven on their minds-
• I like how they translated the lyrics to sound good in Swedish
• Also gives extra context and connotation to the words
• Love judas' mesh top!
• Really good singer wow
• This is how the song is supposed to be sung!!!
• I like boys with long hair hehehehe
• Symbolic that jesus is sleeping while judas is trying to get him to listen. Shows how closed off and resigned to his fate he was
• And also how no matter how hard judas tried he would never really be heard
• Painted nails!
• The subtitles said fuck? Lol
• I seriously love this guy's voice
• Oh my god they're so boyfriends
What's the buzz/Strange thing mystifying-
• Jesus is serving so much cunt
• So. Much. Touching.
• AHAHAHAHAGSVSBAZHDVWH THEYRE SO BOYFRIENDS HWWGGA
• Yes Maria feed him that orange
• "A man like him" you mean... 💅?
Everythings alright-
• I really like Mary's voice and look
• Mommy vibes fs
• He's in the shopping cart hhahahaha
• The masculine urge to sleep in a shopping cart while wearing shades
This jesus must die-
• Caiaphas sounds like a toad LMAO
• "It's seduction! It's blasphemy!" -Christians watching this 😭
• Caiaphas saying "STOP" such a jumpscare
• They kept the jesus is cool line and for that this is now one of my favorite productions
• AND THEY SAID IT TWICE AM I IN HEAVEN??
• Well I won't be after watching this 😌
• Caiaphas has a pretty cool voice ngl, my timbers are shivered
• HELIKOPTER 🚁 HELIKOPTER 🚁
Hosanna-
• A bit faster rendition that's neat
• Interesting how judas is participating in the fray
• It's so nice to see his character happy for once though
• The jesus balloons are killing me
Simon zealotes/poor jerusalem-
• Ooh it's a fight
• The ladies are sangin and dancin 💃
• THEY SAID FUCK AGAIN
• Well okay I'm just gonna give up on the notion that this play will be family appropriate in any manner, it's better that way anyway
• Pretty cool how the choreo is militaristic, as well as the costuming
• They way Simon is pronounced 😃
• I am unilingual my brain is incapable of not making a joke about that
• Jesus your nail polish is chipping baby fix that
Pilates dream-
• Love pilates robe, very pretty
• Ok but the sparkly suit is better
The temple-
• Fuck counter: 3
• They have a bit more speaking in this version which I really don't mind
• The lyrics make it really clear how the crowds used their connection to God to justify their actions, an issue which is still prevalent today
• Annas shaking that tail go off
• Jesus jumpscare
• He called it "A whorehouse" 💀
• The beggars all have little hand lights, that creates a really cool effect
• Wow the music got really fast
I don't know how to love him-
• Yayy Mary hi Mary hi 😍🥰👋
• Da smoochy???
• Judas ain't gonna be happy bout this
• Her voice is so good!!
• Interesting how jesus is awake for this
• ITS JUDAS HE'S PEEKING
• Uh oh
Damned for all time/blood money-
• OH NO
• MY BOY GOT SLAPPED
• HE JUST WANTED A SMOOCH
• Ok now it just feels like he's betraying him cause he got rejected 😭
• Annas is such a little shit oh my god
• He's giving Draco Malfoy vibes somehow
The last supper-
• Act 2 baby here we go
• Okay so he's dragging them to absolute hell, love that for you jesus
• The girls are FIGHTING!
• "Tell us what happened to the good vibes" I'm loving this translation
• Judas actor once again killing it, he has a really lovely rock voice
• The apostles throwing shade at judas and planning to blame him in the gospels 😙🤌
• This shit crazy
Gethsemane-
• Ok I'm gonna try to be serious for this once
• So far pretty good
• The lyrics are hitting the important parts of the song I feel
• HE GOT THE NOTE!
• Pretty damn good
• My bias still lies with Neeley but that wasn't gonna change really
• I like how he made the g5 actually part of the song rather than separating it. This whole performance is actually very natural and easy to watch
• The last verse goes so incredibly hard
• *rips shirt open*
• 👌
The arrest-
• Here it is the kiss
• Here we go
• Literally the only part of this play I'd seen before
• Okay that's just. So romantic. JESUS kissed JUDAS! What a twist!
• "Why did you date a whore" goddamn
Peter's denial-
• Annas is basically the main character he's in so many songs
Pilate and christ-
• "Yeah we know you're 'hot'" I mean 😏
• Fuck counter: 4
• My notes are seriously lacking I apologize
King herods song-
• Herod is me I am Herod
• Me in my robe on a Monday morning imposing judgement onto others:
• Did they just use a slide whistle?
• Goofy ahh sound effects 💀
• "Fine I'll do it myself- look, no hands 😚"
• He's my favorite
• Herod being silly and goofy:🤪
• Jesus: 😐
• Loved that
Could we start again please-
• Fuck counter: 5
• Not the song I expected it to be in tbh
• Maybe it doesn't hold the same weight in Sweden
• "How are we going to explain it so it looks good on paper?" This is a new angle that is actually really interesting, and reminds me that the Bible is pretty much ancient RPF
• Yay they included the ensemble
Judas death-
• "For one measly kiss" I'd call that kiss a lot of things but measly does not come to mind
• He is talking to jesus instead of christ
• Something tells me this production is not very religious 🤔
• Which I am very ok with
• He's goin through it
• He's got the rock screams going on 🤘love it
• RIP Judas, too gay to live 😔
Trial before pilate-
• He called Jesus a clown, bitch this isn't Godspell
• Ouchie
• That's a lot of blood
• It's easy to overact in the role of pilate and this guy isn't doing that, which is good
Superstar-
• I prefer when Judas is wearing white in this song, but the glittery red robe kinda slays ngl
• And once again judas is a pretty boy
• They kept the "jesus christ, Jesus christ, who are you what have you sacrificed" line in English
• Oop the robe is off
• Get those dance moves judas damn
• This is insane
• What is happening
• Why am I turned on
John 19:41-
• Ooh this is rather scary
• The way its literally just him on stage suffering is pretty intense
• IT IS FINISHED
Hope you enjoyed sluts

Today's compilation:
Now That's What I Call Music! 8 2001 R&B / Pop / Teen Pop / Alternative Rock / Pop-Punk / Post-Grunge
Welp, folks, it looks like we're nearing the end of the earliest days for this beloved flagship series that's known for constantly delivering reproductions of the day's biggest pop hits, but I still have a couple more of these albums in my queue to enjoyably sift through. And just like the other seven installments that precede this one, Now That's What I Call Music! 8 also makes for a pretty great trip down commercial radio memory lane as well 😍.
But before we dive right on into it, how about we have some nostalgic fun with the ad for this release first? See, If you had placed an order for Now 8 by credit card or with check-debit, you'd also receive a free limited edition collector's box that you could store all of your other Now CDs in too! Wow! How considerate! Thanks Now! 😎💖
youtube
But we actually start off on a few somber notes here... 😔
Now 8 was the first dispatch from the main series to be released after 9/11, and so, I feel like the inclusion of its final track, U2's "Walk On," which never even made it onto Billboard's Hot 100 chart, was done solely in order to try to console an American psyche that had been deeply wounded at that time. "Walk On" was released as a single in February of 2001, and was actually about the plight of Burmese peace activist Aung San Suu Kyi—who, years later, would despicably do nothing as Myanmar's head of state to address the genocide of Rohingya Muslims that her own military was perpetrating—but in the immediate aftermath of 9/11, the song found itself resonating with a lot of Americans, serving a sudden and newfound purpose as an anthem of perseverance for them.
And that's pretty much undoubtedly why Now chose this song to close out the album. Had 9/11 not happened, this comp's last track would've probably been a song that had actually charted on the Hot 100. But because this album was slated to release in November of '01, the Now brass probably thought it best to end with a song that could acknowledge that then-current moment of anguish and turmoil, rather than awkwardly and tone-deafly just loading up their CD with fun pop hits from the summer that had just passed.
But less than three weeks before 9/11, R&B star Aaliyah had also tragically passed in a plane crash after filming the video for her beautifully soft and sensual, final single, "Rock the Boat" too. So Now not only included that song on this release, but they dedicated the whole album to Aaliyah's memory, and also donated part of the proceeds from the triple-platinum seller to her memorial fund as well.
And last with the sadness, rest in peace to the great Steve Harwell. I absolutely despised your band's cover of The Monkees' "I'm a Believer" when I first heard it (which appears on this album), but I still genuinely dug your work more than most are willing to admit, and really also loved the critique you had about the commodification of social movements in "Walkin' On the Sun," which is something that many people probably overlooked because they had nothing nice to say about your band that, unfortunately, became a Shrek meme. At the end of the day, Smash Mouth made a bunch of fun music, man 😞.
OK, on to the rest of this album...
So, the album cover for this release says it comes with 20 chart-topping hits, but in reality, only three of these were actually Hot 100 #1s. There's Destiny's Child's "Bootylicious," which, to go with their Survivor album's theme, intended to use the opening guitar stutter from "Eye of the Tiger"—by the band *Survivor*—but had to settle for Stevie Nicks' "Edge of Seventeen" instead; Usher's "U Got It Bad" ballad; and Joe's "Stutter," which isn't actually the most famous version of the song, but is the "Double Take Remix" instead, that was done by Allen "Allstar" Gordon Jr., and sampled both the iconic west coast alternative rap classic, "Passin' Me By," by The Pharcyde, as well as the song that that song itself sampled, Quincy Jones' "Summer in the City." And it also features now-canceled rapper Mystikal, which represents his third overall appearance in this series.
And speaking of remixes and samples, the famous Murder Inc. remix of J.Lo's "I'm Real," featuring Ja Rule, doesn't appear on here, but instead, it's her underappreciated and poppier original version that sounds nothing like the remix, and samples from classic Japanese electronic group Yellow Magic Orchestra's digi-chirping "Firecracker," which ends up naturally giving the tune a sweet 80s throwback kinda vibe.
Other songs worth mentioning are the brilliantly produced and super light and smooth Janet Jackson jam, "Someone to Call My Lover," which sampled from folk duo America's "Ventura Highway;" and a terrific tune that was actually originally released in 1998, but rose to US fame because of its inclusion in a 2001 Mitsubishi ad: "Start the Commotion," by UK duo The Wiseguys. That one's very much in that Fatboy Slim-helmed UK big beat vein; gotta love the blaring and swingin' sampled horns on it! 🤩
And there's a solid handful of other songs on this CD that I could devote some space to as well, but I think this post here is already long enough as it is.
So, another terrific nostalgia rush to be had in this trip all the way back to 2001. And I only have one more of these Now comps left in my queue, but I think I'm gonna save it for later.
Highlights:
Destiny's Child - "Bootylicious" 'N Sync - "Pop" Jennifer Lopez - "I'm Real" Joe feat. Mystikal - "Stutter (Double Take Remix)" Janet Jackson - "Someone to Call My Lover" Christina Milian - "AM to PM" Aaliyah - "Rock the Boat" Usher - "U Got It Bad" Gorillaz - "Clint Eastwood" The Wiseguys feat. Greg Nice - "Start the Commotion" Sum 41 - "Fat Lip" Blink-182 - "The Rock Show" Fuel - "Bad Day" U2 - "Walk On"

I’m pretty sure I say this every XH comeback, but this was their best album yet 😍
Troubleshooting is phenomenal
(song by song reaction under the cut)
No Matter
GUNIL ON THE BRIDGE OMFG
i need him to sing more, his voice is so good
so fun, so good, such a great start
incredible guitar solo as per usual
Little Things
i think this is my favourite title track so far
i love how they’re really leaning into that pop punk sound
UNDEFINED
the guitar melody in the chorus is so good
gaon’s rap to end it 👌👌
Paint It
this feels like an elevated version of a bunch of their past songs combined
“so let’s go” gives me creepy clown vibes which, yes, fantastic
classic XH
Money On My Mind
bruh the voice announcing jun han’s solo!! and his solo being, again, incredible!!
the screaming in the back and all the adlibs are amazing (i need to know which one of them is doing it)
Dreaming Girl
if the lyrics of this don’t make you cry or even tear up a little, congratulations on your mental stability
just so beautiful
i also like how it tones down from the previous high energy songs while still being upbeat melodically
until the end of time
here comes the actual slow, emotional song
gorgeous gorgeous vocals
why do they want me to cry so badly?
Walking to the Moon
i like the little pause with the chanting bit before the final chorus
just really good
MONEYBALL
i was most excited for this song from the teasers and it didn’t disappoint
got that metal guitar sound which i love
very fun, but surprisingly enough not actually one of my favourites
Night of Fireworks
love the build up to the chorus
great bridge!!
just the perfect way to end the album

Rant destroying the phrase "he talked one octave lower"
w/c: 711 words.
okay I gotta confess something- my biggest fanfic and books pet peeve is when they say their voice goes an octave (even worse if it's more than one octave) lower or higher, HAVE Y'ALL TRIED IT?! I mean talking one octave low doesn't seem that bad (even though I've tried going one octave lower than my talking voice and it's impossible for me to talk like that) BUT WHEN THEY SAY THAT SOMEONE'S VOICE IS LIKE THREE OCTAVES LOWER- bro- no 😭😭😭 Like just to put it into perspective 😍😍 let's say that someone (like me) talks around G3 (G/Sol is the note, 3 is the octave it plays) If I were to talk three octaves lower I would talk in G0, fine right 😍😍 WELL NO BECAUSE NOT EVEN A GUITAR BASS GOES THAT LOW😭
Telling you why down below 😘
To put it into kpop perspective. If I were to talk one octave lower, I would be talking into stray kid's Felix deep voice range. AND if I were to talk three octaves lower I would be talking two octaves lower than Felix's deep voice. Talk about talking like a demon.
(plus if Felix's were to talk three octaves lower , that's the example that made me write this, he would be talking around the octave -1 and the octave 0, which is ✨😍not possible😍✨)
Let's talk higher now, since I've also seen some examples. Going back to me, I talk around G3, if I were to go one octave higher that would be on my singing range, for example Violeta by Iz*one is in G major so to give an approximate idea on how high it would be, I would be talking in the range where they sing most of the pre-chorus (fun fact the "violeta" that goes to the chorus the "vio" part is in G4, the things you learn when you want to prove a point)
I can talk in that voice, sure, but let's look the three octaves higher 😍 Remember, my talking voice: around G3. Singing: can go to G4. But how does G6 sound like? 😱😍🤟
Remember playing in those kid pianos that are kinda big and you feel like a piano master playing random keys. Just me? Or remember those electric pianos that your music teacher, if you had one, had that you always wanted to just play one note for the funzies? Those pianos are usually between two kinds, a 49 key piano and a 61 key piano.
What octaves does each piano has? Well a 49 key piano has a range between C2 to C6. While a 61 key piano has a range between C2 to C7. (we're going to ignore the fact that the lowest note, the one you played at the end that sounded so deep after playing each note is higher then my three-octaves-lower-voice) So basically, my now three octaves higher voice would be that annoying note at the end of a 49 key piano that sounds so high you wanna punch someone (totally not bcs I'm autistic and hate high pitch noises)
Again, kpop perspective. Ateez's Junho high note in wonderland (the end high part on kingdom) is a B5... A B... FIVE, I would be talking 5 tones HIGHER than that. WJSN's Yeonjung hits a G5 in secret, so does Chuu in hi high, both just one octave lower than G6.
I looked up the highest kpop high notes, as of 2018-03-17 a video made by DareDB KPop Classic gave some examples of the highest notes sung by a female kpop idol, there are some examples on the G6, but it's mostly just trying to hit the note not holding it for a little. However I discovered something 😍😍😍 Shannon in masked singer hits a G6 singing to Mariah Carey's song "Emotions"
While I know and acknowledge that this is usually written from a place of either exaggeration, metaphor, or not knowing how much that is, I'm just a little shit who likes to question everything and hate on small things😘 You do you while I do I, I'll keep writing "their voice got lower" while you'll keep writing a thing that's not realistic/hj😘😘
Anyways thanks for coming to my Ted talk, I spent way too much time on this. Bye.

The Devil Wears Metal please! 😍
Oooh thank you for the ask! I will share a long snippet of this fic, I laughed a lot writing this particular part, and apart of the title of the fic, you can guess what movie I am recreating XD The Devil wears Metal - Snippet
“Hi, I have an appointment with Billy Hargrove”. The blue-eyed, blonde guy at the desk gave him a look from head to toe. Then shook his head. “Human resources has an odd sense of humor,” he said. He was wearing thigh black leather pants with a chain on the side, an oversized short levees shirt opened on a fishnet crop top, and military boots. He pushed the office door with big silver rings at all fingers, and he kept giggling. “Follow me,” said Billy with a gesture. They entered a large open space with a lot of lights and little corners with sofas and chairs, plants, and guitars with weird shapes, signed pictures and golden vinyls on the walls. “I was Eddie’s second assistant,” Billy said again “but his first assistant recently got promoted, so now I am the first”. “Ok, so you’re replacing yourself,” answered Steve, amazed by the big place and the view.  “Of course. We need someone who can survive here. Eddie fired the last two in a few weeks”. “I understand. Who’s Eddie?” Billy stopped and smirked looking at him in the face. “I will pretend you didn’t ask me this. Eddie is the chief producer of Upside-Down Records. Not to mention a legend. You work for him for a year, and will have all the opportunities you want”. Steve nodded. “It sounds like a great opportunity. I’d love to be considered”. Billy giggled again. “Steven, Upside-Down Records it’s a metal label, so interest in metal is crucial”. “What makes you think I’m not interested in metal?” Billy opened his mouth to answer, but in that moment they saw a little chaos from the hallways, through the glass doors, as people reunited to chat or at the coffee machines started to run around like chickens, trying to look very busy.. “He’s already here?” hissed Billy to a guy that passed them in a hurry. “Yes, apparently his trainer canceled,”  he answered, running away. “Shit!” Billy ran to the door, opening it for a tall, skinny and almost completely covered by a black leather trench guy.  “It’s really so difficult to find a reliable professional in this city?” said the guy shaking his long wavy hair. “Tell Dustin that I’m not going to approve that demo with that cow bells; I asked for a clear, light sound, he gave me some sad country music; Rsvp yes to the Carver party, I want the driver to drop me there at 9.30 and then be ready at 3.00 when we will go downtown clubbing. Then call my wife, send her the red dress I just saw from the car at Gucci’s and ask her to meet me for dinner at that place she went last week. Call Jonathan and tell him no, I don’t want another busty, naked lady for the cover, is it really so difficult to find a good looking, toned and not tanned male biker? I am reaching for the star here? No, I don’t think so. Also, I need to see those things Dusting is putting together for the second Ozzy tribute cover try. Who’s that?” Steve was there, mouth opened like a cod, shaking for the river of words from the man in black. Now he was staring at him with dark brown velvet eyes, and a stunned expression. “He is… well, nothing, Human resource surely messed around again… I was, like, pre interviewing him for the position, but he is totally hopeless and…” “Clearly I have to do it myself, the last two you sent me were a complete disaster. Send him in. That’s all”. The man crossed his office’s door, and Billy looked intensely at Steve.  “He wants to see you,” said Billy, pushing him towards the office, but at the last moment he grabbed his backpack and threw it behind his desk. “Don’t show him that ugly thing”.

You might've thought about this before but singing with Javier and listening to him play his guitar is my absolute fave 😍❤️
Hello! Oh this is also absolutely one of my fave things, I actually have the image of the camp fire and Javier singing as one of my 'safe space inside my head' locations that I used during therapy and use occasionally during meditation or when really struggling with anxiety. So yes this is something I think about a lot ❤️.
So I wrote a short little drabble about it - no warnings apply.
*******************************************************************
The day had felt like a week, your bones and muscles ached deeply in a way you knew only a hot bath and nice warm, sturdy bed would fix. The thought of staying in a hotel briefly crossed your mind but there was one downside to that plan, there would be no Javier. No Javier to sing softly as you begun to wind down for the evening, no Javier to potentially still be singing as you drifted to sleep, no warm fire, no company.
And that was what settled your mind, there would be no hotel for you that night. Tonight was one in which you needed his music, the beauty of his voice and guitar which played the sweetest melodies, combined they were a recipe for a peaceful night’s sleep.
You decided to get out of your day clothes before grabbing a drink and sitting by the fire, that way you were ready to go to bed when you felt yourself drifting. There was a real chill in the evening air but you hoped the fire would soon warm you.
As you sat down on the opposite side of the fire Javier glanced across at you, “You look cold,” his expression quizzical, an eyebrow raised.
“A little,” you replied as you moved closer to the fire, afraid if you moved any closer you’d set fire to your night clothes.
Javier got up, your heart sunk a small, “Ohh,” left your lips, all you’d wanted was his music.
But a few moments later he was behind you wrapping a blanket round your shoulders before he sat back on the log opposite, picked up his guitar and continued. You smiled, sighing contently as you pulled the blanket round your shoulders.
Quietly you sang along, at least when you knew the words to the song. When you didn’t you hummed with appreciation, your eyes occasionally meeting Javier’s, your tune made him smile.
As time went on you felt your eye lids grow heavy as the warmth and sound of his voice lulled you into a sleep like state. You barely heard the song he was playing come to an end and your eyes remained closed as you listened to the crickets in the grass and crackling of firewood.
“Any requests?” Javier asked, stirring you.
His eyes were focused in your direction, his question sincere as his fingers gently strummed his guitar idly, not playing anything in particular but his fingers touched created a beautiful melody all the same.
You felt the warmth creep up your neck and into your cheeks, you hoped due to the glow of the fire that Javier wouldn’t notice you blushing.
He cocked his head to the side as if chasing an answer from you, “Hmm,” you thought for a moment and then suggested your favourite song, the one guaranteed to help you sleep well and keep the nightmares at bay. Javier was of course happy to comply and started playing softly with the both of you singing along, although it was only for a few minutes you felt you were in perfect harmony.
When Javier finished playing he placed his guitar next to the log and stretched upwards, yawning as he did so. As he stretched, he exposed a little of his toned stomach, a small dark garden path on show…and then his arms dropped to his side.
A large yawn then escaped from your mouth, in response you were sure you heard Javier chuckle a little.
“It must be late,” you commented as you got up, your legs feeling a little wobbly.
Javier nodded, “Time to sleep.”
“Well goodnight… Javier, thank you for the song.”
Javier walked over to you and placed a hand on your shoulder for a moment, “Any time.”
A few minutes later you were settling down into your cot, wrapped cosily in your bedding when you heard Javier humming a pretty tune, his guitar followed, his fingers strumming the strings ever so softly. The song only lasted a minute or two, but when you fell asleep it was with a smile on your face.

Why am I up at the crack of dawn on a #GibSunday? Because a new pillar was added to #ToneHenge™ yesterday - an all original ca. 1965 #Traynor #YBA2-A #BassMate!😍
This has been my dream #amp of mine for as long as I can remember! OK, it has been a dream amp of mine since I saw one for the first time 3 months ago at my amp tech @marshalllespaulfan's house. The key takeaway here is: DREAM AMP. 😂
Many thanks to @agoldrules for letting me have his!
Traynor nerds will know this, but you are looking at an early piece of @traynor_amps history here, made in the first couple of years after Pete Traynor started building amps as a sideline to his repair gig at @longandmcquade in 1963. If you google "traynor yba2-a bass mate" you will find a great @vintageguitarmagazine article on this exact model. Per the article, the circuit is close to a tweed #Fender #Harvard in design. I am not sure about that...I also have a tweed Harvard in my collections, and lemme tell you - this thing is at least 5 times louder! This one is tube rectified (later models switched to solid state rectification) and sports the classic chrome "Cass Mate" insignia on the grill that makes me so incredibly happy for some reason! 😂

@fullforceaudio and @theneverlandband melted faces this past weekend @charleysbarlg ! The best sound this venue has heard. I’m looking forward to more performances🤘🏽🤩 Repost from @fullforceaudio • Really digging the Beta98AMP/C mics. I focus on getting the drums real tight and these mics certainly capture that with ease especially not having to use cumbersome mic stands that only get in the way😍 I’ve always used, liked the tone, and rugged construction of the e604’s and have always served me well through the years. I’ve literally used them on hundreds of events and never let me down, but a friend of mine turned my attention to these some time ago and I gotta say I’m really falling in love with them. They are small electret condenser mics with flexible goosenecks that bend and contort to just about any placement required especially with the A75 clamp (also built like a tank) the mount allows for great maneuverability around your sound source and it stays put all night. Frequency response is 20Hz-20kHz with a slight roll off around 400Hz which wards off some of the “woofiness” that comes with close-mic’d drum tones. There’s also a surprising 6kHz bump which adds some definition which was pleasing to the ears. On a well tuned drum kit, most drum mics sound good, but these puppies shine and cut through the mix with ease. Looking forward to using these more! 🥁 #themoreyouknow #shure #shurebeta98ampc #doitrightthefirsttime #cantfakeawesome #soundengineer #turnitup - #neverlandband #rockandroll #guitar #drums #bass #femalefrontedband #sanjose #bayarea #fullforceaudio #shure #beta98 #charleysLG (at Norcal Bay Area) https://www.instagram.com/p/CqXKp3tuKL-/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
