So I was checking out Greg Ellis' IMDB page to see if he's been in anything recently. I mainly wanted to know if the whole blowup between him and Mark Darrah 3 years ago that resulted in him making a YouTube video speaking in Cullen's voice while beseeching the Dragon Age fandom to rise up against Cancel Culture affected his career in any way.

This was swiftly forgotten, however, due to the fact that I got really caught up in the wall of text that is his Mini Bio.

It's a lot, right? Usually when I see bios on IMDB they're less than a paragraph. But what got me was the inclusion of all these weird details. How Greg "mastered the Rubik's cube at 12" and that he's "skydived 10,000 feet above the earth" (so? ppl skydive, man, why is this important). But then there's this mention that he has over 20 action figures of characters he's portrayed in film and television. Like... seriously? This is really worth including in your IMDB Bio? Then right at the bottom it says the Bio was written by PR which lol

Anyway, I didn't post on tumblr dot com just to dunk on all the questionable details Greg PR decided to include in his IMDB.

What I wanna talk about is this lil detail here:

Now, I've read his IMDB bio a couple times over the years and have never really questioned whether Greg was truly nominated for an Emmy. Like, who tf would lie about being nominated for an Emmy? But then I started wondering what the Emmy was for (seeing as how he neglects to mention it in his bio) so I decided to do some digging into what he was nominated for.

Doing a general google search turned up nothing so I decided to try his website to see if he supplies more details, and he does.

Again, he neglects to mention what the nomination was for, but says that he was nominated for his role on 24. So naturally I did a search for 24 Emmy nominations.

It is at this point I become aware that the Emmys have not only dedicated pages for shows that have won Emmys, but also a search function.

Guess whose name isn't listed on 24's Emmy Award page?

Guess whose name doesn't reveal any results for even something as basic as an Emmy nomination?

Even under his legal name? Or the other version of his legal name?

Okay, so maybe they just neglected to add him on the 24 page. If Greg was nominated for anything, it would most likely be under "Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series" as he was a guest actor for 9 episodes of the show (as Michael Amador) between 2003 and 2004.

He's not listed in the nominees for 2003, 2004, or even 2005 (just to be generous). And since I bothered to look it up just to double check, here's a YouTube video for every year in this category: 2003, 2004, 2005.

While all this may seem like a bit much just to emphasize that Greg is lying about an Emmy nomination, I need it to be understood that I did my best trying to verify its existence. On the off chance it turns out the nomination exists somewhere, let it be known I'll delete this post and apologize for misinforming people.

But I just gotta say, if it's not on the Emmy's website or even his own Wikipedia page, then where tf is it? Like, I get that Wikipedia isn't a totally reliable source, but Gregory Itzin, who actually was nominated twice on 24 as a supporting actor, has it not only mentioned on his wikipedia page, but also has one of his nominations sourced (if you click on the link it will download a PDF).

So until proof that he was ever nominated turns up, I'm going to assume he's lying about it. Which is funny when you consider he's not even lying about winning an Emmy, he's lying about being nominated for one. He's lying about losing an Emmy. Like, could you imagine if Tommy Tallarico lied about almost being on MTV Cribs?

Anyway please reblog this post and feel free to steal it because I find this extremely funny and would love it if someone asked Greg why the internet isn't turning up results for his Totally Real Emmy Nomination.

ETA - Adding a link to @aidanchaser pointing out that it seems like Greg is claiming he was nominated under the categories for "outstanding casting in a drama series" and/or "outstanding drama series" based on what he says about the nomination on his website, along with my reply as I was aware of those nominations but didn't make the connection between them and what he says on his website.

I'm only going to add here that his claim to this nomination is a huge stretch because, by similar logic, if 24 actually won either of those nominations, basically anyone who worked on 24 could claim that they're an Emmy award winning guest actor or production designer, which entirely misrepresents the award being given as it hollistically takes into account various parts of the casting and production. Like, there's a reason there's separate categories for this stuff, and the fact that he seems so comfortable making this claim on his IMDB that he's an "Emmy nominated actor" based on those nominations is such a wild stretch.

And it's clear to me this obfuscation was intentional because he could've easily said that he worked on the "Emmy award winning show, 24" because that's more accurate to the truth of his involvement with the production (i.e. that he worked on a show that won muliple awards). But specifically claiming he was "nominated" lends credence to the notion that he was nominated specifically for his work while still technically being true (despite that claim being bullshit).

Hello there fellow roleplayers, I'm looking for someone I can share my writing with and pass time. I'm currently only interested in doing BTS based roleplays for now but may expand later. Here's what I'm looking for:

Third person

A minimum of one or two paragraphs. (Detailed paragraphs preferred, but not required.) The length of my replies vary from a few paragraphs to novella but I tend to match my partner!

It's understandable when you are stuck and unable to write much of anything. That happens to me too. If needed, we can always discuss what can be said to move on or it can be skipped altogether :)

Quality over quantity—please have effort when writing. I would hate for us to come up with a very exciting plot but end up losing interest due to me being the only one putting in the effort of moving forward with the story.

Activity

Despite being a (online) college student, I tend to be fairly active unless something comes up. However, I'm patient with replies and won't pressure you for one and I expect the same treatment. I may give a gentle nudge if it's been some time without any response and you may do the same.

Please tell me if and when you are not able to respond, especially for a long period of time. I will do the same. I struggle with mental health issues and may need to take a couple mental breaks.

I understand that you will not be able to be online 24/7 as I will not be able to either.

Hi everyone! This is not a drill - we open for interactions tomorrow! I really can’t believe all the attention this roleplay has gotten so quickly. I sort of feel like I’m being pranked, like people are gonna come out with cameras and reveal it was all one big joke. But so far it isn’t! So, being said, I’m gonna leave a few points under the cut that I want to tell everyone! If everyone could like this post once they read it, I’d appreciate it very much.

01. Beta Editor

So I’ve been thinking a lot about it, and I think it’d be in everyone’s best interest if we all used the new Beta editor Tumblr has rolled out. Meaning, if you have an old blog with the Legacy editor, please click that big purple popup in the corner to switch over to the new editor. Now, I know this is a big change if you aren’t used to it. I also kinda hate it. But it works best for everyone if we all use it. Tumblr has said they’re planning on getting rid of the Legacy editor altogether, so it’s easiest for everyone to just make the switch and adjust.

There’s a helpful tutorial here on how to use it and the new new version of xKit, and if you need additional help then let me know and I’ll walk you through it. It’s a necessary evil and I promise it’s easier to use than it seems.

02. Intros

I don’t think I said this in the rules, which is my bad, but intros are expected from everyone! They can be as short or as detailed as you want, I really don’t mind. I just want the most basic of information about your characters, and I would like it pinned to your profile so everyone can see it!

03. Locations Page

Due to some requests in the OOC Discord, I’ll be adding a locations page to the main! It’ll take me a few days to get it all set up, but if you have any requests or ideas for it, send them to the main or to the suggestions page on our Discord if you’re a part of it!

04. Co-Mod

I’m thinking, with how much attention the main has been getting, I might need to consider getting a bit of help running things. I think I’ll put together a little co-admin application for whoever is interested, so if you are interested, be on the lookout for that in the next few days.

I thought I’d be sitting here, making posts into the void, getting ignored in the tags until I just lost motivation and deleted the blog. But you guys have proven me wrong in the wildest, craziest way and it’s insane! I’m so happy and so grateful for you guys, and I hope with everything in me I give you a fun writing experience here. 

Okay, we’ve all bought books from the Scholastic Book Club while in school. Those who graduated before Tumblr was created remember when Scholastic also had monthly magazines such as Dynamite and Bananas. But little did I suspect that prior to the all-teens general-interest magazine Bananas, there was a teen girl magazine -- which was advertising-supported! -- called Co-ed, which addressed issues about decorating your bedroom and stalking guys and your dreaded period. [History: “co-ed” is short for co-educational, as in ‘they let girls in’.] Unlike the other Scholastic magazines which you bought in your English classes, Co-ed was available through your home economics class. The cover of this 1969 issue says this is Volume 14, so it must have been around since 1955. (The masthead page gives every detail about the cover photo except the models’ names, which was the only part I care about.) And now we’re going to take a little tour through it. Under the cut...

“The Drug Dream, Why It’s A Nightmare” is anti-drug, mostly for the harm it does to your health, but what they left out is that it leads to creating these kinds of clothes and bedrooms.

George Carlin would have referred to this as “an under-leg deodorant”, and I suspect the demise of the belted sanitary napkin also lead to the disappearance of Quest, which was made by the Kotex folks and I have an advertisement which came in pad boxes back in the 1940s. I did not know this was marketed for underboob sweat, also.

Okay, this one irks me. I hate the notion that you have to ‘trap’ a boy with food. But I also hate that the food in question is gawddamned Wonder Bread, which builds your body 12 ways and gives you that matching pasty complexion.

You’ll need that tube of Tackle if you made Quik and Pop-Tarts your mainstays. Take note that you see neither the Quik Bunny nor Milton the toaster on the packages.

Cover Girl made a medicated coverup foundation in three shades. Meanwhile 70% of the market is going “but I’m not Aryan Caucasian!” Guess everyone who ranged from Greek olive to Kenyan jet was shit outta luck.

You know the one you were curious about, “guys get asked, what’s wrong with girls?” Well, the saying became popular decades later, but it boils down to “bitches be trippin’.” Pasting the two pages plus two columns later in the magazine together...

Second guy says materialism and superficiality are turn-offs. (He’s not wrong.) Guy three says he is not fond of the possessive and the clingy. Guy four doesn’t like girls who are always chasing boys and are loud-mouths. Guy five doesn’t like the playing-hard-to-get and the snobby. Guys six and seven also aren’t fond of flirts, since they believe it’s something they’ll do with other guys despite being with you. (It happens!) The rest of the guys in the article echoed sentiments about not wanting to be with girls who do not care about their appearance and also girls who are phonies, with one pointing out that a lot of girls who think they can fool others are mistaken. Not one guy said he doesn’t like thick thighs in a skirt or the average quantity of acne one gets from their periods or drinking Nestle’s Quik, I’ll have you know.

A/N: Trying to clean out my inbox from all the requests I got last time I posted a prompt list, hope you like it <3 The prompt was “I’ll feel better if you let me walk you home.”

“Is that your daughter?” Anthony noticed your lockscreen when you checked your one last time before putting it away in your purse.

“Um, yeah,” you nodded, feeling your chest tighten a little.

Jumping into the subject right at the start of the date wasn’t what you had expected. You hadn’t made it a secret that you were a single mom to a beautiful and smart two years old little girl, so Anthony knew what he was getting into when he asked you out, but you were still nervous about it. He was a year younger than you, and while that wasn’t much you also knew he probably had other things on his mind than taking care of a child. It was understandable, of course, but you were tired of having expectations when it came to men you were dating. If they weren’t ready to deal with the fact you had made a priority of your daughter, then you weren’t interested.

“Millie, right?” Anthony smiled, seemingly more curious about her than other men you’d met so far.

“Yes, she’s two,” you returned the expression but tried not to jump into too many details. “Still small but an absolute ray of sunshine.”

“She looks cute,” he complimented although he had only caught a glimpse of her.

You tried not to let yourself get too excited when he kept on talking and asked you more about her, but he seemed genuine and you both laughed together so much that you couldn’t help but let yourself get your hopes up. It was your first date in months that wasn’t an absolute disaster. Granted, you already had a few friends in common so you knew he had to be a decent person, but he was already more than you had hoped for.

It helped that you lived close to each other too, as you soon found out because he had walked to the restaurant too. It was still warm enough to stroll around the city without losing the tips of your fingers, so you were both making the most of it.

Two glasses of wine later, you were just about to order dessert and the date was going so well all of your stress had worn off. You were talking comfortably, most of the awkwardness made you laugh as you got over it, and Anthony was genuinely funny without ever making a misplaced comment. It was all too good to be true, but after the last three years of your life and the struggles you went through, you felt like you deserved this.

Everything wasn’t perfect, but it was nowhere near as disastrous as your previous dates and you felt like you could breathe again. Maybe your love life wasn’t completely hopeless, and maybe not all men were a nightmare to deal with.

“I can’t believe you think an apple pie is better than a brownie,” Anthony shook his head with a teasing smile, starting up a new debate on desserts now that you were both trying to pick.

“The brownie doesn’t even come close to the second place,” you had already worked out the hierarchy of the desserts on the menu in your head and the brownie was all the way down with the carrot cake.

“But it comes with ice cream!” He argued like that point would fix everything, so you laughed wholeheartedly and kept on going.

“Ice cream is for warm sunny days,” you stated, sure that it would get a reaction out of him, and his huff was just what you had expected.

“This statement is wrong in so many ways.” He rolled his eyes, tone still playful.

“Enlighten me,” you chuckled, leaning the side of your head against your hand. Your smile fell a second later when your phone rang, stopping him from replying. “I’m sorry, I have to take that,”

“It’s okay,” he nodded, leaning back in his chair and pretending to look at the menu again to give you a moment.

“Please don’t be an emergency,” you muttered to yourself but Anthony still caught it before you picked up. “Hello?”

You didn’t move from your seat as you listened to what your niece had to say. You let out some okays here and there as she talked, and Anthony watched the way your face fell a little bit more with every second that passed.

“I’m so sorry,” you bit your bottom lip. “I really have to go,”

“Hey, it’s fine,” he frowned at the look on your face. “Is she okay, what happened?”

“She’s sick, apparently got a fever and all that fun stuff,” you put your jacket on and grabbed your purse. “My sixteen years old niece is watching her and she doesn’t know what to do,”

“Let’s go then,” he nodded, abandoning the idea of eating dessert and standing up too.

You walked back to the front of the restaurant together, a waiter had already spotted you and was coming forward so that you could pay. You expected to take care of the bill, being the reason the date was ending early, but Anthony stopped you from reaching into your bag and handed his card to the waiter.

“I got it,”

“Thank you,” You replied quietly, not wanting to argue because it was bad enough already that you had to leave. “I’m really sorry I had to cut this short.”

“The night isn’t over, come on, I’ll walk you back.” Anthony didn’t let his mood go down and your eyes almost bulged out of your head.

“You don’t have to do that, it’s getting cold,” you felt awful for ruining the night, the last thing you needed was to make him walk further to get home.

“It’s late and it’s dark, I’ll feel better if you let me walk you home.” He held the door of the restaurant open for you and you ducked your head as you walked past, heat rushing to your cheeks.

“Thank you,”

You were quiet as you walked, a little hurried to get to your daughter fast although you weren’t in a rush to leave Anthony. Having him close was nice despite how uncomfortable you now were due to your family emergency.

His hand bumped against yours, once, twice. The third time, you knew it wasn’t an accident, so you looked up at him to find him stealing a glance at you too. A smile etched on his face and he linked your fingers while you went giddy all over.

“So,” he broke the silence. “How many dumb guys have ruined dates for you just because you have a daughter?”

“That obvious, uh?” You stared at your feet again, but the way his thumb rubbed over the back of your hand comforted you.

You wished you still had the confidence you used to have before you got pregnant. As much as it had taught you, there were still times when you regretted how easy it used to be for you to believe you were worth something on the dating scene. You had learned a lot with Millie, but you also stopped progressing in other aspects of your life.

“A little,” Anthony admitted and kept on walking at your pace. He could tell you were in a rush to check everything was okay at home, so he didn’t want to slow you down despite wishing the date could have lasted longer. “I knew about her when we met, I wouldn’t have asked you out if it bothered me,”

“Well, I used to assume that when I got asked on dates, but turns out it was too big of an assumption.” You chuckled dryly, making his heart squeeze.

Anthony felt for you in that moment. It was unfair that they had treated you that way for something you weren’t hiding. He could tell you were happy to have you daughter and you clearly loved her more than anything, but he could also see the shame you carried being a young single mother.

It wasn’t right that you were constantly receiving negative reactions for being the parent that stayed. You were the one trying your best to give your daughter the best life you possibly could, and Anthony couldn’t do anything but admire that.

The idea of being with you in the long run and possibly becoming important in Millie’s life had been on his mind for a long time before the date. It was a lot of responsibilities to take, but at the end of the day he had refused to pressure himself because of it. You were great and he wanted to get to know you, it was that simple. Only time could tell where the two would end up, and going out with you on a few dates didn’t mean he had to commit to anything immediately. He also knew that if you were the right person for him then he was ready to commit to it all.

“That’s me,” you eventually slowed in front of a building and came to a stop, unsure of what else to say. You hated how uncomfortable you were, the two of you had just clicked when you met up at the restaurant and yet you were stuck in an awkward silence now.

Anthony welcomed the interruption; he didn’t want to keep on overthinking things. “I know tonight didn’t end the way you hoped it would,” he said because that much was obvious, getting you to look up at him rather than anywhere else on the street for the first time since you had begun walking. “But I had a great time, and it’d be nice if we could go out again soon,”

“I-” you had prepared yourself to utter another apology, but his words took you by surprise and your chest went tight with nervousness. “Yes, I’d like that,” you breathed out faster than you should have and Anthony’s smile spread across his face, making his blue eyes brighten even in the darkness of the night. “I’m not sure when I’m free yet but, um-”

“Don’t worry about it,” he chuckled softly. The way you were fumbling for words and tried to hide your grin was endearing. “Just text me when you know, yeah?”

“I will.”

You may find this option helpful if you are willing to consider different Warden or Inquisitor backgrounds for your specified pairing that have been nominated. You are limited to an additional ten pairings specified in this manner. Please fill out the form entirely before filling in pairings manually in the description; those that you fill in in the relationship field (the first 30) will take priority.

Things you should not put in the description field:

“I would like anything but nasty [kink]. I think people who write that are gross and nasty.”

Please do not insult people who like something you dislike. It’s Not For You, and That’s Okay. “No [kink]” expresses this much better than a long explanation of why you don’t like [kink].

“I’m only choosing this to get to three nominations. Please don’t write it.”

While we know someone who signs up for a, b and z may want a and/or b more than z, but please don’t scream to your author or artist that what you may well match on is something you don’t want as much as other pairings. Writing something like this also reduces your chance at treats as well.

“Even though I said I wanted M!Solavellan, I’m fine with F!Solavellan too if you like that better.”

Please don’t tell people that you’d be alright with non-nominated pairings, as fics with only non-nominated pairings cannot be added to the collection.

Minimums and Maximums in Requests:

You are required to fill out a minimum of three request fields (Required: Relationship, Additional Tags; Optional: Letter, Description). Remember that you may put in one OR two relationships per request field, so the maximum number of pairings that you can list in this manner is thirty. Remember also that you must fill out at least 3 request fields, so if you fill 2 out with 3 requests in each "request box", Ao3 will still want you to add one more -- it's a good rule of thumb to fill at least three out with one request, then double up as you wish.

4. Continue to the “Offers” field

There are several different components of this field:

Relationship:

Enter one, two, or three approved relationships that you would like to see in a fanwork created for you. This field will autosuggest approved pairings. If your pairing does not show up, it may be that you have fallen victim to a known bug of Ao3's that we cannot fix, wherein pairings in a tagset do not autofill. If this happens, simply type it in as it appears in the tagset. If it continues to give an error, please drop us a comment with the pairing so we can figure out what's going on. You also have the option to select any relationship.

By selecting “Any Relationship,” that means that you are willing to write or draw fanwork for, literally, ANY of the approved pairings.

The only limitation we will accept will be be a limitation of what category of relationship you want to create for: eg, Any F/F, Any M/M, Any F/M, Any Multi, Any Other, or Any Nonbinary. Anything else WILL BE REJECTED. You may NOT use this option to say, for example, “Any Cullen pairing”. This option is for any and all of the approved pairings in your designated category/categories. Do not use this option unless you are sure that any is truly what you want.

Additional Tags:

You can offer to create fanfic, fanart, or both. Selecting "any" is treated the same as selecting both.

Comments for mods:

Here is where you can provide additional detail about what you will and won’t create. As with your requests, you can provide general likes and dislikes as well as things that you absolutely will not do. If there is someone signed up you absolutely cannot stand, please write "don't match me to x" here; we won't ask details, we just won't match and this will be a fully confidential field. If you hate nugs, put it here, and we'll make sure you get at least one nug-free prompt and, ideally, a nug-free sign-up. We want you to have an assignment you'll be happy about, so if you've got something that would be triggering for you to create for, let us know. We can only take action based on our own knowledge, so the more information we have the better we can try to match you with what you really want. If you do not enter anything into this box, we will assume that means you are okay with anything for the specified pairing(s) selected. If you have any preferences or do not wants, we would encourage you to add them. It makes the process smoother for all involved. None of the mods will blab over whatever you write; we just want you to have the best time possible with your assignment.

You may also use the comments to mod field to note additional pairings that you would be willing to write if you have already filled thirty slots. You may find this option helpful if you are willing to consider different Warden or Inquisitor backgrounds for your specified pairing. You are limited to an additional ten pairings specified in this manner. Once again, those filled in the actual relationship: tags will take priority over those written in, so choose which pairing goes where carefully!

A Note on Matching

Black Emporium runs on OR matching, which means that you will match on one relationship out of the ones that you offer and request. You are guaranteed to match on ONE relationship; you may match on more, you may not. For your assignment, you can write what you matched on OR you can write any other couple on their sign-up form. You will only have to write or draw for ONE request, not all of them. The minimums will be one piece of artwork or one 1,000 word fic.

The Trigger Warning Database

I know the idea of content warnings is controversial. Meme culture has slowly eroded the legitimate definition of ‘being triggered’ to the general public but it is real, valid experience. We know that and hope this website can help you out, even just a little.”

The Trigger Warning Database (TWD) was launched in June 2020, and is run by two Australian book bloggers, Rachel and Bec (click the links for their social media pages). 

As the mission statement suggests, TWD is a searchable online database of books and trigger warnings.

When you click on the link in my intro, it brings you to a page that should look like this:

Hopefully you should be able to make the screenshot bigger (on desktop) by right clicking it and opening it in a new window. Sorry for the folks viewing it on mobile, I’m not sure if it will come up any bigger. Let me know if you have any viewing problems and I’ll see what I can do.

See the blue circle on the far left?  That enables you to search by trigger.

If you click on it, it brings you to this page:

If you scroll down the page, you will find a list of triggers in alphabetical order.

Just click on the trigger that you want to look up, and it will give you an alphabetical list (by book title) of all the books in its database that have those specific triggers.

For example, here we have  a sample of the list that comes up if you click on the “Ableism & ableist language” trigger.

A few things to note:

Once you start navigating through the website, you will notice the following menu:

When you’ve left the homepage, you can also use this menu to help you navigate through the site.

Another thing you will notice as you browse through the site is that the suffix:

 “-phobia”

is not used anywhere, eg “homophobia”, “transphobia” etc.  Instead, you will find the suffix:

 “-misia” pronounced “my-Zee-ya”

Here is the site’s explanation as to why:

“Homomisia means a strong dislike of homosexuals and homosexuality; it refers to people bigoted towards gay people, and anti-gay rhetoric. We don’t use the term homophobia because it is misleading and inaccurate, literally meaning ‘a fear of gay people’. It is also belittling and insulting to people with legitimate phobias. Most people mean homomisia when they say homophobia.

It can also be swapped out for other prefixes, such as queermisia or bimisia.”

Finally, you will notice the number of books in the database is quite limited. Understandably so, given it’s been running less than year! Is there a way you can help to grow this database? 

YES!

From the menu, hover over the heading labelled “Contact”. You will see the following:

Click on “Contribute”.

This will bring you to a submission page, where, if you want to add a book that is NOT already in the database, you can fill in the required details, which includes a list of any triggering content.

The database creators are quick to acknowledge that sometimes the emotional labour required to fill in said content can be extremely taxing. In recognition of this:

You’ll notice I haven’t included every single detail about how to navigate this site. One, it would take too long for me to do (it’s already taken quite a while already), and two, I reckon you would find it easier to just navigate through the website itself.
