Post Season 8 fanfic recommendations

Hey! So, I’ve been working on this for a while. I’ve read so many good Hyde/Jackie stories, and I feel like it’s a waste not to share them.

I tried to separate everything in categories, but some fics fit in more than one category and honestly it was just a mess. So I've separated them the best way that I could. I’m going to post the categories separately, and after I’m done I’ll make a masterpost with links to each of the categorized posts, as suggested by @springsteenicious and @those70scomics (thank you both for the help!).

Even though this is only one category, it’s still a long post, as I’ve said before, I’ve read many fanfics. I don’t know if I should edit this and add more stories as they’re out (for instance, I have a post season 8 story that I’m planning on posting soon) or if I should just leave things this way. Please let me know if you think I left out a good story or if you have any suggestions.

I’ve read and enjoyed ALL of these stories, they’re all very good. All the stories mentioned here are post season 8 stories. I’ll post stories that take place during season 8 next. I hope everyone enjoys it!

Just after New Year's day in 1980, Jackie Burkhart decides to disappear from the basement to save her sanity. When Christmas rolls around and the Formans beg Jackie to attend their party, she ends up involved in an elaborate game of 20 Questions with Hyde that could change both of their lives.

how many stories did you complete?

counting my ficletvember stories, 60 individual fics and ficlets. which is way more than I thought but that's what happens when you write a fic a day in November.

what is your total word count for the year?

155k published on ao3. My ficletvember fics ended up being 26k total, plus I have some wips here and there. So ~180k total this year.

what fandoms did you write in this year?

Mostly the Witcher, but I did have a diversion this summer into the Loki fandom and wrote two Sylki fics and a fic for a Thorki event. Also, a sense8 ficlet.

did you write more, less or roughly about what you expected?

I wrote less than I wanted to this year for varying reasons, but I'm happy with what I did write. Last year I wrote about double what I did this year, but I also was still living with my parents and since have bought a house by myself so have much less time and energy to write.

what’s your favourite story of the year?

I feel like I wrote so many different things all over the board this year so I have no idea. I really loved getting deep into Yenralt this year tbh I think this was just the year of writing so many Yenralt ficlets. But my favorite may have been then send down the storm, my Lambert/Aiden remix fic, mostly because I did not know I could love that ship and found my way there through a really personal story very dear to my heart.

what’s your most underappreciated story of the year?

My BTC reverse bang yengilla fic, in dark and twisted braids, which was posted in June and still has less than 300 hits and 80 kudos. A lot of my fics in general flew under the radar this year because I wrote a lot more f/f or rarepairs or both. Meanwhile, my yennskier wip I posted just last week has more hits and kudos than any of my 2021 fics except for a Geraskefer fic from the beginning of the year.

biggest fanfic related disappointment of 2021?

I didn't win a single one of the three different bingos I participated in this year lmao and also I was kinda disappointed in the most recent (non-Witcher) bang I participated in where my artist was non-communicative and then dropped out and holiday craziness meant my pinch hitter and I could barely discuss anything and by the time I published the fic, I barely remembered or cared about it. I knew I didn't like bangs and that was confirmed but I'm going to do another one soon anyway hehe

biggest fanfic related surprise of 2021?

The Yennskier Rennaisance bringing a ton of attention to 2020 fics like the poet's wish and lilacs and dandelions. It warms my little heart to see people finally reading the monster that is the poet's wish because I think I finished it in a fandom lull and the way I posted it in huge chunks of chapters also just led to way less readership at the time. But not anymore!

1. what fandoms have you written for (but do not currently)?

i used to write for exo but i haven’t written anything for them recently. otherwise, i’ve also written a couple of blurbs for vixx and infinite!

2. what fandoms are you currently writing for?

nct and wayv!! but i also want to put out a few exo stuff out.

3. how long have you been writing?

i started in 2013, so around 9 years now?

4. on which platforms do you post your stories?

when i used to write for exo, i was really active on aff. now i mainly post on tumblr and occasionally cross-post on aff under -hypnotized.

5. what is your favourite genre to write?

angst! it’s a genre that i’ve always been comfortable writing, but i’m also into writing action!

6. are you a pantser or a planner?

depends, i like to think i’m both, but i know that i am for sure a planner because i tend to write really long fics and i need to plan ahead just to make sure that everything is consistent!

7. one shot or multi-chapter?

i’ve always been used to writing multi-chapter stories due to the format aff is, but after switching to tumblr, i prefer writing one-shots now.

8. what is the perfect chapter length in your opinion?

anything above 15k is the perfect fic length, above 40k is a bit much and should be separated in 2 parts, imo. but i’ve always enjoyed reading and writing fics that are long!

9. what is your longest published story? is it complete?

one-shot, it’s going to have to be cerca trova at around 31.1k words and it is completed. otherwise, it’s you’re my wonderwall, which is around 161k words in total and is completed on aff. however, the (jaehyun) version on tumblr isn’t completed just yet and is only around 26k words so far!

10. which story did you enjoy working on the most?

that’s a toughie, but once again and early bird are the stories i enjoyed writing the most and are works that i’m most proud of. come morning light is wip that i’m currently working on and will post soon, and i really enjoyed writing it because it’s so different from my usual writing style and genre :)

11. favourite request you’ve have written and why (if any?)

i haven’t taken any requests so far and won’t be taking requests for now<3

12. are there reoccurring themes in your stories?

uhhh, i feel like the characters in my stories always learn a lesson, no matter the genre (except for my timestamps), parental issues, social issues, and i think that’s it?

13. current number of wips?

around 20 or so? not counting the timestamps and chapters from my series.

14. three things you have noticed about your own writing?

1) if i don’t feel inspired to write a particular story, the end result is shit and i end up hating that particular work (e.g. apricity [mark x reader]); i wasn’t feeling inspired and felt pressured to post that story because of the deadline so i end up not liking that story at all.

2) i use the words “then” and “really” a lot and it’s something that i’m trying to fix LMAO.

3) i always try to make my stories seem... deep? and it’s something that a lot of my readers have pointed out, i guess?

15. a quote you like from a published story (not a quote but a huge ass part LMAO IM SORRY)

“It’s too late, Jaehyun,” I tried to tell him firmly, but my voice betrayed me. “Just too late.”

He held my hands even tighter, incomprehension washed over his expression, and he shook his head furiously. “No, it’s not too late. Sweetheart, we– we can work this out, right as of this moment. Just, please. Please stay. We can’t work this out if you leave.”

I shook my head furiously as I leaned against his chest and grabbed onto his shirt with my free hand. “Jaehyun, you know that I would have done everything for you. If everything were the same as before, I would have gone through Hell and back for you… For us. But let’s look at our reality and be real about it. There is no way that things could be the same as they were previously.”

Jaehyun let out a shuddered breath and brought his hand up to caress my head soothingly. A part of me was glad that Jaehyun understood – understood that both of us were now two completely different people than who we were when we first met each other.

The two of us just got out of a long-term, if not, a significant relationship that marked us deeply. Even if we loved each other, we were still too broken to pick up the pieces for one another. That was something we had to do alone and separately. Time was all we needed.

I didn’t want our relationship to fail like our previous ones.

“I’m so sorry,” he breathed out.

I tried to chuckle but failed. “What for?”

He sighed and it made him sound so exhausted for something that wasn’t meant to exhaust us.

Wasn’t it supposed to make us go to great lengths for the one we loved?

So, why were we running away from it?

You looked up from your plate to see your friend staring at you with an unbelievably soft and concerned look. You gave him a mellow smile, grateful. You could also see Philippe shifting uncomfortably at his master’s words from your periphery.

You sighed through your nose. “I appreciate it, Lucas, but you know I could never ask you to do such a thing. I would never ask you to throw away your own happiness if it means securing mine.”

He shrugged nonchalantly, but you knew there was part of him that was secretly relieved by what you had just said. “You’re my best friend, who else if not you should I do this for?”

“True friendships shouldn’t require you to sacrifice your happiness,” you answered back stubbornly. “And besides, us marrying each other, even as a last measure, is simply a recipe for disaster, don’t you agree?”

Lucas shook his head with a cheeky, defeated grin on his face before raising his wine glass to you.

“Amen to that.”

On the occasion I get them, yes! It takes me a while to get around to them though, sometimes I just don't know what to say! I'm more likely just to ramble back at you or say thank you in thirty thousand different ways than give any insight on a story.

What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

Hm. That's...debatable.

Top one? Probably Crisis. I'm still not quite over it, and I still haven't taken another crack at the early months after Koda's death because of it. Usually stories like it I'd be pretty careful to make sure I fleshed it out enough, but it's shorter than most others like it. Short, concise and to the point. And really damn sad because it ends with how Citlali found out she died.

Morbidly, I'm still rather happy with it even just under a year since I wrote it.

What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?

I have a pretty small handful, enough to count on my hands. The happiest ending is probably between Rubber Duck (F!Shep/Ashley) and Coasting (F!Shep/Kaidan). Both post-war, both about mostly meaningless tasks or events. They're probably the only ones that are pure fluff.

Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?

No. Doesn't interest me, I like my fandoms in neatly made boxes.

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

I have not. Let's not start that.

Do you write smut? If so what kind?

No.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Yes! I found some really old fics on a translated site that had never asked my permission maybe three or four years ago, right when I was starting to gain traction on another site. Given, I was one of many and I'm not sure what I should've done in that situation, but unfortunately I'm not sure what happened. It was years ago, yet I wonder why they did that. It was a little fic about kids in space. It just doesn't check out no matter how I think about it. Am I upset? Not really, just always thought it was weird.

Have you ever had a fic translated?

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Technically, I currently am. Not quite a fic, but it is writing heavy and I'm terribly excited to share it when I can.

What’s your all-time favorite ship?

Of all time? Percy/Annabeth easy. I was a YA nerd. Occasionally I still am. Those books were the best escapism I was going to get. But I'm also nearing the three-ish years I was on that both with ME and DA now so that'll probably eventually change.

What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

It's a pretty high hope, but getting Nine Lives done is seeming more and more impossibly by the day. Developing more characters, developing more relationships, sticking all that on a timeline -- figuring out where the hell Citadel-dweller kids go to school, how they interact with other alien children, biotics, the list goes on and I get more and more frustrated.

What do you even study in alien school?? What the hell do the history books look like?? Gah.

What are your writing strengths?

Combat prose and weird poetic one offs. I am still very happy with the Mars chapters in Redamancy for that reason.

What are your writing weaknesses?

Romance and keeping things concise. Emotions are hard sometimes, I don't know why they did it, all I know is that they did. I get lucky if it's in 1k words or less, and it's not rambling on about an under-explained metaphor.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

Meh. I'm not of any opinion, I just appreciate it when it's translated at the end of the chapter if they do it. Other than that, well, that's the reason I'm learning other languages.

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

I feel like my answer changes every time I answer this, but probably Legend of Korra? Or anything coherent, it'd have to be pushed forward a few years to Maximum Ride. I remember scribbling away on loose leaf paper during class with my trusty stolen (read: found in the hall) mechanical pencil I never had lead for.

What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

I'm not sure right now. I love and nitpick at every one of my fics equally. However, while Letters Home has it's problems, I am terribly happy with how it came out in the end, especially since it came after a bit of a dry spell.

It’s a long list so it’s under the cut!

I Said “I Love You,” What Does it Matter if I Lie to You? + 95k

18 year old Tony Stark is your typical teenager. Well, except for how he’s the playboy billionaire heir to Stark Industries and working on two PhDs. Oh, and 6 months ago he was kidnapped by - well, no one really knows who. Since his rescue (excuse you, Tony liberated himself), he’s also been keeping a pretty big secret. Here’s a hint: it’s shiny, red and gold, and flies. Tony’s had a productive couple of months, but the fact that his grandfather keeps trying to hire bodyguards for his “safety” is really putting a cramp in his ability to keep his secret superhero identity, well, a secret.

Steve Rogers wakes up in 2015 and finds out that he’s missed 70 years (Oh god, does this mean he’s 94?), a revelation that he handles with much less grace than usual. Mostly, Steve just wants to be Captain America again, but on his own terms and without a lot of fanfare. To fill the time while Steve tries to figure out the best way to resurrect a dead superhero, his good friend Isaac Stark offers him a job: bodyguard to Isaac’s grandson, Tony Stark - who seems to get into a surprising amount of trouble for a teenager. “There’s no better introduction to the 21st century than through Tony,” says Isaac. Somehow, Steve is not reassured.

Saving the World (Is Totally a Date) + 64k + personal favorite

Tony discovers Stane’s betrayal while he’s still being held captive. When he escapes, he sets out to ruin Stane as completely and ruthlessly as he can, playing up his PTSD and quitting his job to destroy Stane quietly from the outside. He also picks up a teaching job-all Pepper’s fault-and oh, right, becomes a supervillain. Okay, that one was Tony’s fault, but it was totally an accident.

In the meantime, a certain Capsicle is defrosted a year early, and is assigned the task of capturing the notorious Iron Man. It’s not going particularly well, if the embarrassingly high number of times he’s been kidnapped in the past six months is any indication. When SHIELD decides to help him “adjust” by getting him a teaching job, Steve is skeptical; but then there’s Tony, and Steve finds he doesn’t mind the 21st century so much after all.

The Most Amazing Things (Some Terrible Lie) + 26k

Tony’s decision not to reveal his identity as Iron Man to the world was shrewd and calculated. Too bad it’s about to backfire on him like a Jericho missile.

Slipping off the Page into Your Hands + 68k + personal favorite

Soulmates have their first words to each other written on their wrists. This should make it easy. For Steve and Tony, it is anything but. Steve’s problem is that the future he has awoken into is nothing he was ever expecting: he has a soulmate now. Who might be a robot. And if his soulmate is Iron Man, how can he be so attracted to Tony Stark? It should be impossible. Tony’s problem is that he is Iron Man, his soulmate is a man whom he in no way deserves, and he is going to fight everything in his heart and do his best to make sure Steve never, ever finds out the whole truth.

Cherry Ride + 12k

A SHIELD agent named Roger Stevens told Tony that his nickname was “Cap”. Tony didn’t connect the dots until it was much, much too late.

Steve Rogers: Undercover Robosexual - 11k

Tony Stark is a selfish, narcissistic asshole with a God complex, which makes his invention of the superhero Iron Man, an impressive android with an AI that surpasses even J.A.R.V.I.S. in complexity, all the more puzzling. Stuck in a future he struggles to understand, Steve surprisingly gets along with the bag of bolts more than any flesh-and-blood being. He often has to stop himself from taking chances with real human life (including his own) when Iron Man is in danger. After all, Stark likely has several back-up copies of Iron Man’s code, so he can always make another one, right? That’s what Steve tells himself anyway when he sees Iron Man flying a missile destined for New York City through a wormhole to destroy the Chitauri warship.

And then Steve gets a call from the man himself on his private comm channel.

“Hey Cap.”

“Stark, this isn’t a good time. I’m kind of in the middle of something. Can I call you back later?” Steve says, head tipped up to watch Iron Man’s ascension.

Bizarre Love Triangle + 1k

Once the idea was in his head, he’d started picking up on all kinds of things, like the way Stark talked about Iron Man with such affection, and seemed to share so many of his mannerisms, and was constantly working on ways of improving the suit. It was obvious.

Think of This as Solving Problems (That Should Never Have Occurred) + 35k

No one knows Tony is Iron Man. Then Tony gets amnesia, and literally no one knows Tony is Iron Man.

Wait & Sea + 50k

In which Tony and Steve get sent on an undercover mission aboard a cruise ship to make contact with Hydra. In this AU the military has kept the discovery and defrosting of Captain America a secret, so Steve and Tony have never met before. Yet they are to pose as newlyweds….

The Long Road Home + 47k

Maria Stark told her son that the Mark on his wrist meant there was a special someone out there just for him. Sarah Rogers told her son that his soulmate was waiting for him, and he needed to be strong for them.

Neither of them ever mentioned what to do if that soulmate just doesn’t want them.

I’ll Give You Gifts Until You Know My Name + 10k

Mr. Stark is an extravagant gift-giver: he has the money for it, after all. As Iron Man, Tony has the opportunity to gift Steve even more presents that, while less expensive, are more heartfelt. Having a secret identity means Tony gets to have his cake and eat it too when it comes to showering Steve with presents.

Until Steve starts developing feelings for his armored companion, and all the benefits of living a double life are turned on their head for Tony Stark.

Eavesdroppers Never + 7k

When Tony made the decision to have a secret identity, he had several well-considered and carefully thought-out reasons. But there were a few scenarios he never took into account. He never imagined that he, Iron Man, would be cuddling naked with Captain America in a Canadian shack in the middle of a snowstorm. He also never imagined that Captain America would pick that moment to tell him, Iron Man, about his feelings for Tony Stark. Uh-oh.

Ending the day up just about exactly 800 words in This Isn’t A Ghost Story -- and all of them in chapter 5, since that’s the only chapter that isn’t finished yet, lol. A fair portion of those are in the first part of the chapter, that leading edge of ‘finished’ that I’ve been trying to push forward, which is currently sitting at 3000 words consecutive from the beginning of the chapter. But I also wrote several little conversation snippets for later in the chapter, trying to get all the various plotpoints and character moments sketched in so that I know where I’m going, in what order, and what all still needs filled in.

Chapter 5 is currently just over 4600 words total, some of which will get cut in favor of re-writes as I push through to the end of the chapter, but honestly I think most of what’s there is going to stay, and there’s more yet to write. Chapters 3 and 4 both ended up right around the 5000 words mark, and I don’t want ch5 to be unwieldy in length, but there may not be a good place narratively to break it into two separate chapters.

My plan for now is to push through and get everything written and then take a step back and see if ch5 really ought to be two chapters rather than one -- and by that point, the entire story will be done and down to just editing, so that kind of decision should be easy to make in the context of the flow of the rest of the story. I’m similarly undecided about combining ch6 and ch7 into one chapter, but for that one I want to wait until Jack has a chance to read through to the end and see what he thinks of the two options.

And on that front, Jack read the first ~2700 words of ch5 earlier this evening and gave me a thumbs up on it -- though he did catch one thing where my phrasing struck him as unintentionally funny, so thankfully I was able to fix that before anyone else saw it. Sometimes the best service your beta/stunt reader can render is the equivalent of yelling “phrasing!” at you, lol.

Overall the entire story is sitting just shy of 24,000 words, and I think when it’s finished it’ll be in the 26k-28k-ish range. If I can manage another productive day like this tomorrow, I just might, maybe, be able to post chapter 1 this Friday, July 24th. I’ve edited ch1 so many times that I’ll probably just do one last re-read before digging into formatting it for posting here and on AO3, and then I’ll have the coming weeks to edit each of the other chapters and get them ready for posting. I am so close to finishing this I can taste it. Just a little further now -- if not this Friday, then next, I would imagine. :D

Impossible by @sunalsolove (T, 22k words) - QUITE POSSIBLY MY MOST FAVORITE S1 AU FIC EVER!!! I re-read this a lot 😍 a S1 AU where Fitz and Simmons gets handed a mysterious baby and how that baby connects to them.. you’ll see! AAAAHHHHH!!!!! THIS IS ADORABLE YOU HAVE NO IDEA!!!!!

I'll See You on the Other Side by @jemmafitzsimmons (T, 36k words) - WHAT I WOULDN’T GIVE FOR THIS TO BE CANON, TBH. Framework AU where there is no SHIELD, Fitz isn’t head of HYDRA (he has his own corporation) BUT Jemma and Daisy is. Their lives inevitably intertwine in the FW world though, and this is an amazing take on it!

Burn Down the Disco by Rozjozbrod (E, 28k words) - this is a Black Mirror AU (and techically should be in Day 7 of AoS rec week) but the PLOT TWIST at the last chapter will make sense *wink wink* THIS IS AMAZING.

It Sucks to Be You by @memorizingthedigitsofpi (M, 48k words) - another post 2x22/S3 AU where Jemma gets sucked by the monolith... AND SO DOES FITZ. 😱 And the monolith doesn’t transport a body to another galaxy but instead swaps two bodies! A hilarious fic BUT WITH LOTS OF FEELS!

I See My Future in You by forestfantail (G, 19k words) - Academy AU where Fitz gets a glimpse (or more like a play-through) of the future... BUT WITH THE WHOLE ACADEMY (AND JEMMA) TO SEE. Feels-inducing coz there is MISUNDERSTANDING involved, but oh when both of them find out what happens in the future though! 😜

While You Waited in Darkness by @the-nerdy-stjarna (G, 67k words) - S3A AU where Jemma gets transported to Maveth, meets Will but the relationship is PURELY PLATONIC. Also, something happened between Fitz and Jemma before she got transported to another galaxy 😱 YOOOO this fic made me BAWL MY EYES OUT 😭😭😭

Douchecanoe Ward is involved.. but in the process Fitz and Jemma work out their misunderstanding (hence the title!)

No Time for Words by @blancasplayground (T, 12k words) - 2x04-2x05 AU where a still-strugglng-with-hypoxia Fitz (and without Jemma who’s undercover in Hydra) meets Deke Shaw. It’s like the relationship reset we wished for in S6 (and we had, TO A POINT! lol) but it happens in S2! The Fitz x Deke relationship in this is soooo endearing! ❤️

The Storm Inside by @agentverbivore (E, 116k words) - a post 2x10 AU wherein someone from the team undergoes terrigenesis..... AND IT ISN’T SKYE. (SPOILER ALERT: IT’S FITZ and he gets the quake powers 😱😜) Fitz and Simmons work out in mending their cracked friendship and also pursuing a romantic one. Features The Afterlife, Gordon and Lincoln as a magnificent wingman! (PS: this is the longest fic in this rec list!)

Ten Thousand Mile by @sunalsolove (E, 64k words) - a WHAT IF? scenario post 5x22 where S5 Fitz/Marauder Fitz doesn’t DIE in the battle of Chicago... BUT LIVES? And then proceeds to help rescue the other Fitz under cryostasis in space??? A two-Fitz paradox fic where Jemma gets HER TWO FITZES so *cough*LOTS OF SMUT*cough* but also LOTS OF FEELS because DOUBLE THE FITZ is DOUBLE THE ANGST lol

Detour by @agentofship (E, 8k words as of this post’s writing) - the ONLY WIP in this list, and I know it’s only 8k atm but this is 10 chapters total and it’s only on Chapter 2 BUT IT’S SO GOOD! A post 1x22/S2 AU where Fitz still gets hypoxia because of what Ward did to him. He crosses paths with Jemma, which PLOT TWIST: isn’t with SHIELD, but instead owns a coffee shop and a guest house in... YOU GUESS IT: PERTHSHIRE!

@lunawave75 asked for beautiful fanfics so I went through some of my bookmarks on ao3. It’s not up to date and my tagging system is a mess so this is in no way a complete or comprehensive list. Also, these are just my opinion. You may want to read the tags and summary first. I don’t know if you’d consider them beautiful, but most of them I had bookmarked as wow. I tried to leave out fics that are already in my skam fic rec tag.

All these authors have written other lovely fics. So I’d totally suggest checking out their ao3 pages.

Hour by Hour by everything_else (700 words) Little bit of angst and fluff. It’s really sweet. Summary: Isak is away when Even has an episode.

While I was going through their stuff, I realized they wrote: Don’t Fuss Over Me (54k words) - It’s pretty angsty. Isak meets Even when he is still in an abusive relationship (he gets out of it and recovers).

Patrick Verona eat your heart out by allyasavedtheday @littlespooneven (1k words) Ok so this is one chapter out of Ciara’s Settle Down fic which consists of 40 of her amazing one shots posted on tumblr. I love her longer fics too but I have already recommended one of them. I just love this one so much. It’s really cute and hilarious. Oh and the first fic I ever read on ao3 was by her: Cut Us Out In Little Stars (33k words)

You Know Where I Stay by @nofeartina (2k words)

This one is slightly angsty, kinda bittersweet. It’s great. I love love love all of Tina’s writing. Fell in love with her Rearranged series first which is in my other fic rec post.

And her smut filled fic, Alphabet Aerobics is just brilliant. 26 chapters of smut from A-Z and Isak and Even grow so much in it. Also, Not the End which is a bunch of parallel universe one shots. Just… all her work is great.

It Feels Like by scritch @eiqhties (3k words) Magical Realism. So beautiful. Summary: Everything in the room is floating when Sonja gets to Even’s house. And all of their other stuff is great too.

it’s a you and me house by hippopotamus @evenshands (5k words)

Childhood friends au. I adore this fic. Summary: Even has a treehouse, and the only other person allowed up there is Isak. I love all of Rino’s writing too.

Effortless by BraveKate (5k words)

Isak and Even are in an established relationship which is portrayed through an outsiders pov. I love how the author wrote their characters here.

Summary: Even wonders what Isak is getting him for his birthday this year. Little does he know that Isak is ahead of him in every way. This one is so sweet. Wiss is another writer whose stuff I love so darn much. The first fic I ever read of hers was Wake Up! and it blew my mind.

Actually, I’d recommend that one too as a beautiful fic: Wake Up! (26k words) - Summary: Even has never seen Isak before. But why does it feel like he’s the only person that matters? Or: Even can’t remember who Isak is, but he still loves him.

While vacationing with his family at their cabin, Even meets Jonas a couple of times before meeting his friend, Isak.

Sideways and Slantways by iriswests @juilawicker (18k words) Summary: Isak gets stuck in an elevator with the one person he’s vowed never to speak to again. This eventually prompts a conversation long overdue, but not without the memories flooding his brain like a broken dam first. This fic is really good, as is all of her other works.

No Rain, No Roses by Fxckxxp @bisexualcaravaggio (23k words)

Oh boy this one is beautiful. Isak and Even meet when they are hired to restore a house. Set in Italy. It’s brilliant.

Dear Friend by bri_ness @brionbroadway (27k words)

Enemies to lovers. Summary: Isak and Even both signed up for the Love Letters dating service, and they’re both falling for their anonymous pen pal. I love Bri’s stuff. She also has a few reality show aus that I love. From the Big Brother, Survior, and The Mole shows.

Scene Three, Take Two by @folerdetdufoler (31k words)

Post-Break Up au. Summary: Isak is 23, a student in the veterinary program at NMBU, and working an internship at a clinic in Kongsvinger. He hasn’t seen Even in three years, but randomly bumps into him on the street when he’s visiting his mom in Oslo. This is Kerry’s first fanfic. And I love all the other stuff she’s written since as well. She could write about one of them doing laundry and I’d find it so damn interesting. She gets me hooked on her every word. All her fics!

Summary: The door to Isak Valtersen’s apartment is ten meters to the left from the front door of Even Bech Næsheim’s. Sweet, fluffy, lot’s of fun.

I’ll Be Coming Home, Wait For Me by @dahlstrom (48k words) Diner au. Fluffy. Even and Yousef open a 1950s American-style restaurant together. They hire Isak, Chris B, and Magnus. I love this one so much.
