so not to condone torture or anything, but yuri makes a lot more sense if you add “my sister was a child prostitute to buy me nice books” to underline his actions.

If Yor used the “massage” excuse once to Yuri, Yuri would have figured out the euphemism for prostitute outside of Yor’s presence, which meant his brain was working, and can you imagine the damage that inflicts on a kid? I think the author did.

Fast forward to working for the government in an attempt to keep Yor safe from possible threats to peace, and along comes this informant, who was already endangering his country/sister on a larger scale, but to learn that he used that money to buy prostitutes, possibly leaving them to come home covered in blood to their little brothers?

That is a direct threat to Yor. People praise this series for taking the blame off women who engage in prostitution, but they miss the next step where sex trafficking is still bad, and you’re now supposed to level that blame and shame at the people buying prostitutes. The people who saw a woman desperate for money and instead of paying her to do something legal, like cook or sew or make coffee, violate her in the most personal physical way someone can be violated.

So, does the fact that the informant participates in sex trafficking make torture okay? No, not really. Do I hope that a rumor goes around that the Secret police are extra vicious to people who buy prostitutions? Absolutely. If people whisper that there’s one rising star that will find ways to accuse people who buy prostitutes of being a traitor, even if that’s all they did, then some good came of it. Yuri’s messed up. It’s his trauma from the war. But if he uses this background to make powerful men think twice before helping the sex slave trade, I think that’s a fascinating morally grey area this series is primed to explore.

It isn’t anymore psycho than Yor dong fractions using dismembered bodyparts or Loid buying a child from a sketch orphanage for the purposes of turning her into a child spy. (He wondered if Becky was a child spy sent to thwart him, but that’s because if there’s one child spy in the class, why can’t there be two?)

It also adds a dimension to the “my sister is only going to marry for love if I have to kill every abusive husband she marries along the way to do it” thoughts. He is right to be suspicious of Loid, this isn’t the first time Yor has sold her body for financial security. Even more suspicious is the radio silence, the man never asking to meet his sister’s brother, her only family. Abuser 101 includes isolation.

So I want to see more analysis of Yuri include the fact that he probably thinks Yor was a child prostitute.

My wild speculation of how they will adapt the rest of the comic / Solitaire

Okay, it’s time for my heartstopper obsessed brain to get out all the baseless speculation for season 3… Major Spoiler alert for the Heartstopper comics and Solitaire (and maybe Radio Silence)!!! Also trigger waring for ED and self-harm.

So season two introduced the plot line about Charlie’s mental health with him telling Nick (in two scenes that made me tear up) about needing to control his eating and self-harming. This will obviously be a big part of the next season, but the question remains open about how they are going to do this.

In the comics the timeline is basically like this: paris trip -> Nick telling Charlie about his research into Eds during their friend groups trip to the Beach -> Nick’s holiday and Charlie getting worse because he is arguing with his mom -> Nick’s mom telling him that love can’t cure mental illness -> Nick’s birthday and him getting Charlie to talk to his parents (best scene in the comic btw)

The comic then fast forward with the following happening during the time skip: Charlie not getting an appointment with a psychiatrist -> Tori finding Charlie bleeding in the bathroom (with Charlie’s note on the cake card for Tori) -> Charlie going to a mental health ward -> Charlie coming back and the events of the short story this winter

And then the events of Solitaire take place. Of the things that happen in that book the heartstopper comic basically only mentions two things: Charlie’s self-harm attempt after his fight with Nick and Tori being friends with Micheal Holden. From that point on the comic does it’s own storyline till present (ending probably some time before the short story Nick and Chalie)

So where does that leave the Heartstopper TV show? I think they can basically do the following:

Season 3 will cover the 5th part of the comic (including the beach scene, Nick’s holiday and ending with Charlie talking to his parents.). Let’s say they add plots for the other characters like they did in season 2 and it just about fits. Then season 4 can cleanly make the same time skip the comic did. I’m guessing they would use Nick’s and Charlie’s diaries as a framing device and simply adept the flashbacks of the comic and maybe the full story of this winter.

So far so good, but the big known-unknown in this is the whole plot of solitaire. The comic sort of skirts around the plot of solitaire and simply explains the parts that are relevant to Charlie (with the notable exception of Ben getting outed and targeted by solitaire). Adding to this the comic also has a much lighter tone than solitaire (e.g. they skip showing Tori finding Charlie in the kitchen). (As much as I would kind of love it) clearly the TV show can’t simply pivot to adapting solitaire for a season.

Of course the dream scenario would be season 3 -> solitaire movie adaption -> season 4 😍

But I think that is somewhat unlikely since it would slow down the production of the show and also make it confusing for people who just watch the show.

I’m kind of sad to say this but I think they will simply cut the plot of solitaire and put a few of the more interesting pieces into the show. For example, in season 4 they could have a b-plot of Tori meeting Micheal without the context of the actual solitaire group and that leading to a toned-down version of the scene of Tori finding Charlie in the kitchen.

They kind of already started this in season 2 with the Ben Hope plot. Charlie is basically done with Ben. We don’t really need the solitaire-scenes of Ben confronting Charlie at school or Ben getting beat up at the party. The story with Imogen is also clearly similar to the story with Ben and Becky in the book.

This way you can still have all the parts of Solitaire that are needed for Nick and Charlie’s arc and also a different version of Tori’s arc as a b-plot. Ironically Solitaire without the actual group Solitaire… and no Higgs burring down. Even Tori as Wendy Adams meeting Francis as Doctor who girl is kind of questionable.

Yeah, so basically that is 3 days of my disorganized thoughts about the future seasons. I have no doubt that Alice and the whole team will do a great job on future seasons. What do you think about how they will adept the rest of the comic?

well, i believe in good character development so i’m choosing to look past the whole.. dated ben hope and fell out with tori spring things. i’m also taking party girls as canon because i Believe!

becky reminds me of a lot of my friends in the way that tori reminds me of me. i’m glad her cameo in radio silence shows her kinda come to her senses and realise tori was right, without being petty about it. she just kind of laughs to herself about it. i wish my friends would get to that stage at one point.

also, she has cool ass hair.

I feel like every time I look at this blog y’all have added another kid to the clump (and I’m not complaining)

Anyway I’m projecting (because I adore Yellow and have two younger siblings) but I think these weirdos would be obsessed with making forts. Like, taking every blanket, pillow, chair, and couch cushion in the house forts. They’ve got multiple rooms with different purposes and Green is VERY particular about only reading in the reading room.

They’ve also definitely made more permanent ones outside, like they found a cool rock under a tree and decided they were gonna protect it with their life

Yeah that seems to be the general consensus lmao, I pop back up after a day of radio silence like "oh there's a third kid now <3 peace and love <3" I think Pink is most likely the last addition to the clump (unless Becky and Joe add a 4th fucking sad traumatized yellow child in season 2 of the channel 4 series, I make no promises there)

And yeah I totally agree with them being obsessed with forts, me and my brother were as children as well, there's noting cooler than having a weird hut made of sticks in your back yard. We've already toyed with the idea of Pink being the 'builder' of the three, and I can absolutely see her making kind of intricate hideaways outside with sheets and stuff.

Green being a stickler about rooms having specific purposes is so cute, he's the little rule-follower and Yellow and Pink are like, the chaos duo, I think they all really balance each other out quiet well!

Becky In Radio Silence???

I was re-reading Radio Silence today and I just realised Becky Allen makes a cameo!!! She’s in chapter: Time Vortex. In my copy she appears on page 224-226. I love how Alice weaves their books together! Becky also mentions Tori, and says she’s cool, like aawww!

A quick round up of all of Alice's books for new fans!;

Solitire; Set originally in 2012 , Solitire follows Tori Spring as she tries to solve a school wide online mystery with her new friend Michael Holden , whom she is definitely not in love with. The main characters are;

Tori Spring. 16 y/o year 12 student , who doesn't feel any connection to her school friends or the people she is suppose to care for. Deals with her own problems while also worrying for her younger brother. Autistic headcannon. My literal favourite female character of all time

Michael Holden; Year 12 who recently transferred from the boys school to Turham. Chaotic and full of love for everyone , Michael becomes Tori's Watson when she becomes the Sherlock Holmes to investigate. (The BBC version , though. It's superior.)

Becky Allan; Year 12. Tori's bff. Has beautiful long dyed purple hair , and is a bit of a shitty friend.

Lucas Ryan; Tori's old primary school friend , recently moved from Turham. Still harbours a crush for her , and would do anything for her to see him the same way

Ben Hope; Arsehole. Dates Becky , and acts like a twat.

Charlie Spring; The nicest boy at Truham. 15 y/o and in yr 10. Recently returned home from a phyeatric ward and is going through his sad boi era. Luckily has the human equivalent of a Golden Retriever to be there for support

Nick Nelson; Rugby lad , but one of the nice ones. Would beat up Ben Hope without a second thought

Trigger warnings; discussions of depression , sucidal behaviour and anorexia. Ben. New version much less bleak

This Winter; Set in 2011/2012.

Takes place over one day. Christmas day. Follows the spring siblings as they deal with Charlie's first Christmas after being diagnosed with anorexia. Not as dark as it sounds. Main characters are all of the above but also

Oliver Spring; tiny baby boi

Radio Silence; Set in 2014

Follows Frances Javier , a mirrorball of a human who's obsessed with results and won't stop till she gets in Oxford. That is until she befriends Aled Last , a sweet and eccentric boy who is the voice and Creator of her favourite Podcast , Universe City. The main characters are;

Frances Javier. 17 y/o Frances is a mixed race , bisexual teenager unsure of her identity and place in the world. Befriends Aled and her view of the world suddenly changes.

Aled Last; The softly spoken and nervous wreak Creator of Universe City , who finds solance in the online world of his protagonist , Radio Silence. Is headcanon-ed to be Autistic and Non - Binary. Can be seen in the comics of Heartstopper as Charlie's quiet and bookish friend.

Lana Javier. Frances mum. Best women in the world.

Raine Sengupta; Frances closest friend. Is a complete wildcard and lives for the moment. Her sister is Rita, Tori's friend.

Daniel Jun; Aled's lifelong best friend , who moved from Truham to the Academy a few years ago. Very protection of Aled , and extremely competitive.

Cerys Last; Aleds twin sister. Anything more would be a spoiler....

Carol Last; Arsehole of a mother

Trigger warnings; Discussion of depression and sucidal behaviour

Nick and Charlie; Set 2015

Follows Nick and Charlie , who had always been the pair everyone thought would last forever , as they deal with university and growing up. Main characters are the same as This Winter

Trigger warnings; Discussions of Anorexia. This novella is written years after Heartstopper , so there is some mention of sex and more angst then holes in my favourite jumper.

I Was Born for This; Set 2017
