If you agree please spread it as I think this is one of the clearest examples of how media is controlled by the US
it's hard to answer without flying into a rant
my thoughts are, that,
from the time I was around 3 to the time I was around 13 I was waiting for someone or some datum to show me how the USA wasn't in fact a place of supreme evil, indistinguishable from the enemies it constantly warns against, and that when I was 14 I fucking lost it with feelings of betrayal and suspicion for just about everyone but a handful of other runaways.
it took a long time to see parents and family / family-friends as victims, in addition to officers, of Americanism.
I still struggle to not start orating fiery-style when friends and family repeat the lies that seemed so glaringly obvious to me as a kid. I know it does the opposite of what I hope for, though, so I continue the struggle, all the struggles. It fucks with my head how much this litany of insane life-negating doctrines impresses everyone. It's so rare to talk to anyone at all in real life that isn't somehow digesting it, and just-barely-consciously deciding to go along with it.
I hate this nation that captured me all those years ago with my whole being, but I love humans, I love people, with the same exact fire. It's fucking hard. This situation is harder than I imagined it would be for me to process clearly, even though I've been steeled for it, dreading it, for decades.
For whatever it can possibly be worth, the people that reared me included anti-zionist Jews, and they schooled me so hard in ethics & then-current-politics, I can only imagine that if they were alive today we'd be seeing them in the streets right now, doing what we should all be doing, dismantling this motherfucker!

// bustin' the stats down 3h style
BOONS
sword, axe, gauntlet, faith
BANES
reason, dark, heavy armor
BUDDING TALENT (BANE)
authority
// explanations sort of divided into clear skill categories, but have some other kind of structure/chronology to them; i posted these here because i was too embarrassed to dump something so clearly over discords character limit for One Guy in the picrew channel. bear with me here.
swords are canon to him! he likes the speed and handling and the all-rounder nature of it. it's his go-to for any situation where he's armed.
on a mild tangent, though this is important for later; skl and spd growths are insane across all rd trueblades bar stefan, but edward undoubtedly has the best str growth of them at freaking 60%, and will outperform everyone on that front on average. on average, if we're leveling all the trueblades to 20, he'll hit his str cap of 32 as early as t3-11. with some luck, mia can also hit her cap around lv 11 (average is 13), but she has a hard cap of 31. lucia on average falls short of her cap, zihark might not cap str, and stefan might hit cap around lv 18. the interesting factor here is his con; that can only go to 8 at best, on par with lucia and a little better than mias 7, while ziharks starts and stays at 11 and stefans freakish con is at a solid 13. (edwards growths are just nuts all around trust me invest in him fr fr)
so, where does this put edward wrt heavier weapons? well. hes ~15 in rd and clearly not as experienced, and starts the game w 7 con/wt. he's also not as tall nor is he going to be as the rest of the tellius cast... but life in daeins getting more stable, and he's been helping out with a decent amount of physical work. lets bump that con up to 9 for his 3h era. i think here str reflects how well he's going to break a stalemate and how lethal he can be, while con is more of a mix of his actual physical strength and how willing he is to get bogged down by something that's heavy.
that said, edward can definitely heft an axe and swing it, and he can appreciate the brute force behind it as much as he can a blade; it meshes well with his preference to be up close and personal. he's well-versed in the ol' hack and slash, anyways.
regarding lances, he's fine with them, but he's more accustomed to slashing weapons, and the length would feel unwieldly. while he has the accuracy to pierce, and does so reasonably often with a sword, the requirement to wield it with both hands all the time and lack of recourse if he whiffs would set him a bit off kilter; give him a halberd or naginata though, and then we might talk.
gauntlets are a boon for similar reasons to sword (agile, handy (haha) and strength based), and he knows how to handle himself in a fistfight out of necessity.
i have Thoughts about edwards ranged potential. thanks tempest blade convo! i also consider him getting it marking a slight shift in his fighting style in general. while he was oft kept to the back in the dawn brigade in full out fights because hes reckless by nature (not by reason), the war making healing more accessible pushed him further into the dodge/tank it and keep going mindset and was likely giving the rest of the brigade ulcers from worry. receiving the sword as a gift made him reconsider how he takes fights just a bit; not for his own sake, but for others. he's never been bad at positioning himself in fights; he just actively positions himself in melee range all the time.
to this end, bow is neutral because he has the strength and accuracy to use one, he just doesnt like the idea of being defenseless up close.
faith, reason and dark magic are the interesting part of this ranged talk. the boon in faith might seem a bit weird, but i do consider edward's faith a key part of his character; not in any higher powers, mind, but in humanity and in tomorrow. his optimism and wish for community's what's kept him going all the years leading up to the dawn brigade, and i think a boon in faith would exemplify that character trait... even if he hasn't dabbled in or really realised it yet. his specialty in it would rely less on healing and more on trailblazing support and personal conviction, though; guiding star more than soothing light.
reason and dark magic are both banes, but i'd actually scoot reason up into a second budding talent... primary reason being said tempest blade mentioned earlier. it's practically his signature weapon besides caladbolg, enough to be featured in one of his cipher cards... though his magics the most shit out of all the trueblades, and i uh. actively dont remember whether wind edge/tempest blade scales off magic or not. he knows how to use that one and use it well. the theory of magic is totally lost on him, but if he gets hands-on practice, he might find some new, weird and funny ways to use anima magic... for the record, he'd be strongest at wind, but pretty decent with thunder, too. it'll take him a loooong while to get over the initial hurdle, though, which is why im keeping him at a good ol bane.
budding talent: authority! currently also a bane, but this is also a fun one. edward's still more of a follower, deathly loyal to his own damn detriment, but he's outgoing and charismatic, a moodmaker who's always happy to uplift others; he'd make a great community leader as an adult. i picked this as a budding talent less for the tactician/authority aspect and more for the rallying aspect, that backbone of morale and support, his wish for everyone to lead the best life they can, calling back again to the guiding star imagery of his boon in faith. his voice is so loud and his rallies are so good, trust me.
heavy armor's fully beyond him, and he'd HATE the way it hampers his movement, besides. hard no.
riding and flying are neutral; he likes animals, and animals like him, but he'd rather be underway with his own two feet; not that he wouldn't trust a steadfast partner, it's just what he's used to. he'd start working with mounts just for ease of getting around for missions, but the real hurdle is testing all that out for combat.

not that I'm on the dating market at all, but just turning it over in my head, the position of straight trans girl is so goofy. Like being able to exist unabashedly in the dominant sexual group as a straight person, but to also to like, be trans and have to hold all the baggage that comes with that. The way that the inconvenience situates itself on the body instead of the immaterial space that inconvenient atypical-desires get shoved into, away from sight.
Like?? What's that comic where the trans girl shows the guy her dick and he doesn't care (or likes it ooo) and it became a meme?? Like the comic itself is kinda saccharine, and that's always something that people like to make fun of, but I think it also became a meme because the idea of the specific framing going so well is kind of laughable to transphobic joe-schmo and or any sensibly cautious trans girl. laughable isn't the best word for the trans audience, but it seems like too much to hope for almost
oop this one
I think the way that this is read in the meme-ified version of this is probably more idyllic than it is in the comic. Like, as in when I think people read this as a meme people assume that this is her 'coming out' as trans and this is the first time he's learning about it.
I'm sure this isn't so much of a meme anymore because more because people know that its transphobic and uncool to publicly giggle at! but I think it's interesting to pick up and think about here because just like, that's how it should be.

[ 👊 ] does your muse favour nonviolence? will they be violent if needed? do they revel in violence?
» headcanon memes inspired by things i like, part 3 inspired by little hope
Okay this is gonna get messy and all over the place cause I think about this a lot and I only have so much brain and so many thought in it...
So! He is fine with limited amount of violence. He fights when he needs to - usually to protect MK - but he doesn't seek it out and even when fighting he doesn't seem to enjoy it much. It's a means to an end to him, something to be done to defend his successor (and some other people too or whatever). Even then he mostly tanks the hits, focusing his opponent on himself to minimize damage to his surroundings rather than, you know, beating them into a bloody pulp. He generally barely hits at all, doing more dodging and deflecting instead.
We learn in season 3 special (from a very disgruntled Nezha) that up until that point Monkey King never (in the series) fought anyone full-force, always holding back so he doesn't cause any lasting harm to his opponents. The only time he actually attacks someone with intent to kill is when he's pushed into a corner and thinks there is no other way out.
So no, he doesn't revel in his violence anymore. But if he needs to be violent to make sure other people don't get hurt (to make sure MK doesn't get hurt), even if it hurts him, even if it tears him apart to do it, he will do it (his self-sacrificial tendencies are worthy of a whole new post really).
And the fact that he still can be pushed to that point bothers him so much. After thinking that he's strong enough now not to fall back on violence; for him to be unable to think of a better way out, to fail in being more than what he once was, to know that at the end of his rope the only thing he could think to do is beat them up until they stop and that he's still capable of doing it...
Well, he's still figuring out how to deal with that.
