while wyll is a very well intentioned person part of the game is about subverting tropes, and to ME hes MY special princess. he is by no stretch of the imagination “perfect” n hes not SUPPOSED to be perfect, n he has glaring flaws present in the text in subtext that make him very interesting narratively

while wyll trying to fight monsters and devils to save people is objectively good

in dnd, monsters, devils, goblins, even animals in the context of this game. theyre still literally people. theyre capable of language and complex thoughts and motivations

while im not about to be like (fire emblem vc) DIMITRI. KILLS. WOMEN. wyll’s quest to be a generic lawful good human warrior male is not as black and white as he wants it to be

and he can be a hypocrite and a liar

and he can be dumb and needlessly vicious. he stands in the middle of the room with priestess guts and to her face goes “tav lets just kill her. lets kill everyone here lets blow this nasty wench to smithereens” and u have to go priestess guts i am so sorry my friend would fucking say that to you. while we are. trying. to be SNEAKY, WYLLIAM!!

he DOES try to kill karlach. he probs killed other innocent prisoners of zariel. he thought it was the right thing to do, its reasonable. but he still did it. n he never faces tbe consequences or even the guilt.in fact he only faces consequences n guilt when he does the RIGHT thing

wyll IS a very kind and tolerant person to a point but its interesting to see like. who deserves second chances to wyll. and why

like obviously being a generic goblin killer doesnt make u a bad person or anything. its good to kill momsters that are hurting ppl. but hes eventually going to hv to look back on the things hes done for mizora and the devils hes killed, and go “hm.” bc even tho he HAD to do it. he also justified it. and that makes it worse

its honestly kind of interesting he doesnt hv anything to say abt freeing 7000 hungry vampire spawn. n when ascended astarion mentions them, wyll asks how many ppl astarion has killed. “dozens, hundreds?” bro it was 7007 ppl, u know the exact number. he cant even wrap his head around it

like everything else in his life—i dont think he really knows how to weigh the burden of that decision bc he can really never let himself feel the full severity of anything without going “ok moving on” or “let my next action prove my worth.” (ie when he tells karlach hes been a beast but he still wants to prove himself, when u tell him hes a monster, he will still prove himself to the sword coast n be tbeir protector.)

its a very rich thing, hes going on his own little narrative journey here where hes realizing what kind of man and hero he wants to be, same as all the rest of them

n a part of that is coming to terms with things like balduran being a lie, n baldurs gate being so much less than he remembers

something i really enjoy abt the game as someone who considers themself an existentialist is. the burden of freedom. we are condemned to be free. despite the facticities and realities of the world n other ppls reactions to our decisions—we alone make our choices n deal with those consequences

wyll is always, always making the best of a bad situation, hes always doing the best he can, hes always doing what he thinks is right, he always tries to be kind and good and gentle to the people “who deserve it.”

but hes only human, and the road to hell is paved with good intentions

when it comes to morals and “goodness”—sometimes being guided by fairy tales and legends is…. lazy moralizing, that will lead to more pain for everyone, wyll included

wyll DID do good things for the people of the sword coast. and that matters. but u know what. everybodys got something to atone for, pobodys nerfect

again this is not a wyll hate post this is actually a WYLL IS AN INTERESTING CHARACTER AND INTERESTING CHARACTERS HAVE FLAWS post lol. hes really not as goody goody as people think. he loves murder and blood tbh, just u know, the murder and blood of evil doers

Hiii I reeeealy adore your blog^^ and I have a question so... what is discworld? I mean I know it's a bunch of books but like what's it about? Google gave me some weird results and now I'm even more confused than before xd

Well there is about 40 of them so It would be rather hard for me to explain what they are in short.

But imagine there is a flat disc of a world that rests on backs of four elephants and they stand on one giant space turtle... Somewhere on that disc are Gods that play DND with various characters, n the characters live their lives in different periods of time, space and fantasy genre, while still residing on the disc. The Gods and the DND thing usually doesnt play any role in things but its interesting to remember they are there.

The books are satirical and poke fun of typical fantasy tropes and mirror our own worlds events and troubles...

Since thereare so many of the books and characters, people made great guides to go by

Rincewind novels are about a failed student of wizardry and professional runner for his life. Its usually him being dragged into situations in which he really doenst want to be involved in, and then him saving the world basically by accident..All he wants is to do sleep and eat potatoes.

Watch novels are about the revival of the Night Watch (police force) in the biggest city on the disc -- Ankh-Morpork.. Its basically What IF fantasy was written from the point of view of the poor guards killed on first few pages of high fantasy novel... Untill it switches to some quality fantasy noir detective work... The stakes arent WORLD ENDING but usually someone wants to take down the current ruler of the city... The first one in the series has DRAGONS IN IT

Death novels are.... About the personification of Death himself (and his family) and him trying to figure out humanity... of others and of his own.

Ancient Civilizations are stand alone books... About well... Godhood.

Witches novels are obviously about witches... Witches fixing stuff for people wheather the people want to or not. About fighting the system (well most of discworld novels are about that one way or the other) N mainly about gals having adventures...figuring stuff for themselves.

Tiffany Aching novels are part of the witches novels but i guess they are more classified as books for children even though (especially though?) some of their aspects scared me the most of all the books. They are about a gal who has to become a witch...Befriends a bunch of tiny cursing aggressive smurf barbarians..

Industrial Revolution are about (re)discovering new (old?) technology in world partially working on magic... Cinema, Press, telegraph, etc...

Moist von Lipwig novels are about conman who has to turn a new leaf in his life and make ANKH MORPORK POST OFFICE GREAT AGAIN... its....HEALTHY CAPITALISM VS CORRUPT CAPITALISM...and ALOT OF FUN

Some people say that they dont like the first two books that much and that they wouldnt recommend it as the first to read.. but tbh I think they are ok...

If you're bored in quarantine, here's some stuff you can do or watch

Mind you if I'm missing stuff its probably because I haven't played or watched it.

YouTube channels

Drawfee: artists draw based on a suggestion, commentate over it, and it's funny as hell. They make cute, cool, funny, and horrifying stuff. Julia is always a treat.

Bon Appetit: a few varieties of shows, but its basically a cooking channel with personality. Professional chefs do stuff like recreating every day stuff with gourmet ingredients (hot pockets, pizza rolls, etc); recreate dishes based on taste, smell, and texture alone; or whatever the hell Brad is doing in Its Alive. It's fun. Try it!

Buzzfeed Unsolved: honestly if you haven't tried it, I get it. I tend to stay away from Buzzfeed, but Ryan and Shane basically go over unsolved cases or incidents in the real or supernatural realm and occasionally go out to real locations. Unsolved Supernatural is hilarious because they'll go to haunted houses and Shane will try to taunt demons and Ryan will piss himself. Besides being a time killer, it's funny and genuinely intriguing.

Ruining History: same network, Shane and Ryan, and a few others. Basically Shane gives a history lesson and either it's something not many knew or nobody asked for. Its fun.

Puppet History: Similar tone and vibe, Shane and Ryan again, different network. Watcher is kind of new but Puppet History is hilarious and a decent time killer where a puppet gives you a nice history lesson.

Good Mythical Morning and its affiliates: honestly it's rare to find southerners I can tolerate, speaking AS a southerner, but Rhett and Link are fine guy by my book. They try random shit or do random game show type stuff. My favourites are when they try weird food. Do be careful, some of it can be gross. There is a kitchen channel affiliated called Mythical Kitchen where their chef makes random shit or tries to make really expensive versions of every day stuff.

Snapcube: hilarious woman. Streamer, let's player, singer, voice actress, and she and her friends do Real Time Fan Dubs, where they take cutscenes from games and dub over it with non rehearsed lines. Give her a try. Her voices are really fun too.

Monster Factory: you know the McElroys? Probably. Griffin and Justin create monsters in character makers. It's a fun time. Not reccomended for people with asthma. Like me. You will laugh into a wheezing fit.

Critical Role: honestly I just started, but I'm hooked. A bunch of famous voice actors play DnD. Its hilarious tbh. I reccomend following my friend's advice and starting with campaign 2 since campaign 1 starts in the middle of their adventure.

Sword Art Online ABRIDGED: What if SAO was hilarious, actually written to make the characters likeable and the plot actually made sense in a loose way? This. Trust me when I say that you will quote everything from this series. Everything. Even if you hate SAO, this is objectively miles better than the original.

Podcasts, aka the McElroy power hour

The Adventure Zone: another DnD thing, featuring the McElroys and their dad, Clint. Its hilarious from start to finish and actually has interesting world building. Currently there's 2 finished campaigns and a third currently going along with a few live shows and short stuff, but honestly all of it is good.

My Brother My Brother and Me: Justin, Travis, and Griffin give bad advice. Its great.

Til Death Do Us Blart: the three guys above, and the guys from The Worst Idea of All Time come together every Thanksgiving to review Paul Blart Mall Cop 2. Its AMAZING.

Anime.

We're going to mix long, short, popular and not so popular in here. Google if you're curious. I reccomend these just because I like em. Do beware that if you don't watch much anime, fan service can and will catch you off guard- its unavoidable, so just a heads up.

Dream catchers. Obviously these aren't the real deal but it's nice to keep your hands busy. Vines, twigs, and some yarn go a long way.

Spriting. Do like I did and study video game sprites you're interested in mimicking and start off with some splicing. Then as time goes on, try to scratch sprite if you want. No matter how bad you think it looks, it could probably pass in some indie games.

Drawing. Doesn't matter if you're good or bad, just try it and make it fun!

Writing. Try to set 1 hour for yourself and a friend over Skype or Line or something, write what you can, and read each others results. Try not to criticize too hard.

DnD: it's fun. You probably know people who play. Find a dm, make a character at dndbeyond, and use Roll20 for maps.

Cooking, for realsies

Den's home made stew: got an insta pot or crock pot? Cool. Get some roast beef or leftover meat, let it thaw, and cut it up into chunks before you grill it a bit to brown each side of the meat. Cut up some potatoes, carrots and onions and pour them into the bad boy. Add salt, a couple of handfuls for the potatoes. Pour a box of beef broth into the thing, add your meat, more salt, and add water up to the fill line. Add about one handful of pepper, then you add garlic powder, onion flakes, onion powder, and a dash of cumin to add some smokiness. In an instapot, press the stew button and leave it until it beeps. You'll probably cook it for about 2 hours, but for both the crockpot and instapot you'll know it's done when the potatoes and carrots melt in your mouth and the meat falls apart. There you go. This will feed you n your kin for a few days. Season to taste.

Rice n Sausage: easy stuff. Chop up a sausage log and sear or grill it in a pan, boil or microwave some rice, and add a thing of steamed veggies (any kind works, I like brocolli or asian medley), salt and pepper to taste. Done. Get crazy and add some other stuff if you want, but this is a quick meal.

I'm sorry if you've been asked this before, but your ADHD post really hit home with me. Does it ever get better? I've felt like that all my life, and I'm starting a course, not the first I've tried and bailed out of due to losing interest, and I'm..Scared, you know? I feel like half a person, or I'm acting with a limiter on my brain. Does anything help?

Does it get better? – Not on its own. Left alone, ADHD tends to aim itself head-first into a garbage can or depression, anxiety, and losing hope. However! YOU can get better! There IS hope! Don’t give up!

When I wrote that post – about feeling like a liminal space, walking through the world like I was a ghost, constantly forgetting and fogging out and losing my place in the world, feeling half-dissociated from losing so much time – that was my “normal” for a long while.

It’s not my normal now.

Nowadays, two years later, there’s still a little bit of fog. A little bit of forgetting. But day to day? It’s totally different. I made a ton of little changes, failed at a lot of ‘attempted habits’ and picked up others through repetition and reminders and not giving up.

So? What helps?

For me, most of it came from a place of forgiveness. Whenever I tried to get a new habit, and missed a day, or failed a step, or dropped the ball, just… forgive it. Whoops, that happened, let’s pick it up again and keep trying. Like dropping a grape when you’re making a fruit salad – don’t give up on the whole damn fruit salad, don’t weep and gnash your teeth and linger in self-disgust until everything is rotting around you - just accept that the grape is on the floor, and either wash it off and eat it, or toss it in the trash and attend the rest of the fruit.

Mentally, ‘Forgiveness’ is where you’ve got to dial in your brain. You’re basically teaching an old dog new tricks, so you’ve gotta be ok with the dog sometimes getting bored and walking away. Give it a pat and try teaching it again in a few hours, or tomorrow. It’s ok.

Actual Habits that help me:

EXERCISE! – Probably the most common thing people suggest and then you roll your eyes at, but holy shit people suggest it for a DAMN good reason. Tbh Pokemon Go helped this discovery, and then Podcasts helped it even more. I go for a walk a couple times a week, listening to podcasts or catching the ‘mons. It’s usually about a half-hour – not a lot of time compared to the day, but loads of time for your body. Getting your heart moving, getting good chemicals flooding your brain, it helps with maintaining focus, getting started on stuff, and just feeling good about yourself.

DIET! – Junk food is great. However, it’s AWFUL at keeping your brain functioning at top potential. I’d recommend doing your own research on good ADHD diets, but I personally found a lot of good in limiting carbs, and focusing my diet on meats and vegetables. (Plus cooking for myself means an easier time keeping to a budget)

SMALL CHANGES! – Big changes just never ‘stuck’ for me. I’d forget. Small decisions, made independently, obeyed for a week or two before adding another change – those build up and become big changes. For instance:

“I like this bowl. This is going to be my keys bowl, where I always put my keys when I get home. If I see keys not in the bowl, they go in the bowl!”

“I’m going to put my shoes by this shelf. This Is the shoe-shelf now. If I’m indoors my shoes better be on the shelf!”

“I’m going to be early to work. Every day this week I’m going to arrive 10 minutes early.”

“If I want something on Amazon, I’ll put it on my wishlist, not my shopping cart.”

“I have 2 credit cards. This one is for ESSENTIALS like real food and gas and fixing my car. This other one is for play junk, because it has a tiny credit limit. If I want a pile of felting wool, or a trilobite fossil, or an actual gecko skull, those are treats, and go on my play card.”

Each of those habits on its own is nbd. If I tried to do all of them at once, I’d probably fail. But! Nowadays, I’ve got a shoe shelf so the shoes are organized and not a tripping hazard, and I can always find my keys. My reckless spending is under control. One at a time, over a year, I made little changes.

For the “Time Loss” deal, I made plans with people. That’s it.

I made plans to fill up my week, so I had other people to expect me to show up, and who’d be disappointed if I wasn’t there.

Monday nights is where I DM some D&D. This also means I need to set time aside each week to come up with maps and adventures and NPCs.

Tuesday nights is writer’s group, where I visit with a lil club and we critique each other’s writing as we all strive to publish a novel. Tuesday lunch break at work, and right after work before writer’s group is when I panic and crank out a chunk of writing so I have something to bring. Either way, that’s still a couple hours each week for writing, even if it’s crammed into one day 😉

Wednesday night is for tidying. Put on a fun podcast and listen while I do dishes, fold laundry, sweep, etc. My brain is engaged with the podcast, while my hands are being productive with stuff I don’t really have to think about.

Thursday, Friday, and Saturday are totally free because that’s when my friends ask me to go places with them, and I’ll usually have plan offers cropping up. This Saturday is a Fast + Furious marathon! I’m hype.

Sunday afternoon is for volunteering, and cooking. Again, with the podcasts to occupy my brain, while my hands chop and season and do all that mindless junk. I do ‘Sunday Meal Prep’ which is where you cook a ton on Sunday, then allocate food into meal—sized portions to eat throughout the week. Basically making your own TV dinners. =P - I don’t have to worry about cooking the rest of the week! - Then Sunday Night is usually when I prepare for DND ahahaa

Unfortunately I can’t tell you exactly what will fix YOUR particular problems. There are a TON of resources about good organization ideas, alarm tricks, etc.

My best advice is “Start Small. A hundred baby steps over a year gets you places.” And “Forgive your brain! Try again!”

Part of that forgiveness thing is just realizing that what works for other people, likely won’t work for you. Instead of ‘Just doing it’ - ADHD’ers often have to trick and manipulate ourselves into doing things at a sideways diagonal. So the thing gets DONE, even if it’s not done exactly the same path as other people do it, or in the same timeframe. As long as it gets done, it’s ok.

If you’re in school, maybe you need to join a study session, where other people will HOLD YOU to showing up, and actually studying, or actually doing homework in the same room. I certainly needed that.

If you can’t manufacture executive functions, peer-pressure is fine.

Alok Alok Vaid-Menon is one of my favorite poet/activist/performance artists out there! Their writing and stage presence is gorgeous and witty in a way that’s SO clever and still feels like you’re in a room trading jokes you don’t need to explain with your closest trans friends. The way they balance their art creates a real, deeply touching experience that feels very essential to our world.

Miles (2016) Miles is set in 1999 and is a coming of age story about a gay teenager trying to get a volleyball scholarship for college in Chicago. It’s not revolutionary and it’s not over the top dramatic, but it’s funny and honest and it makes me feel nice. Definitely the movie to watch when you’ve just been through something emotionally taxing and need a light crying session and some mediocre pastries.

Isaac’s 2018 November Recs!

The Adventure Zone I know half of you already kin the Mcelroys while the other half either don’t know or don’t care, but the Adventure Zone is one of my most favorite things in the world. It’s a DND podcast (yes, all episodes are transcribed, and they have a graphic novel for the first arc of Balance with a second one on the way!) by three brothers plus their dad, and not only does it have the most amazing story and is ungodly funny, but TONS of gays (Griffin went ape with those Lesbian NPCS)! And just because they can! Same with trans characters. It’s a story where they just exist, and that’s really important to me because in a lot of media LGBT have to almost prove why they deserve to take up space. And it’s not just something that goes on in their first campaign, Amnesty also has those sweet sweet gay! I could talk about this podcast for hours, so if you needed that final push to give it a listen, THIS IS IT!

Stardew Valley You get to farm and be gay. And if THAT hasn’t sold you on this charming video game, then maybe the super cute graphics, beautiful soundtrack and a handful of interesting characters will! TBH I spend so much time playing this game it’s concerning. It’s just such a fun way to relax, and I just really REALLY like video games were I can chose to be gay. Like. God Tier. YOU CAN HAVE CROPS AND CHICKENS AND BE GAY C’MON YALL!!

“As a female bisexual poet, I worry often that my poetry and art will be too niche to be appreciated. I’ve spent years editing my poetry down to its barest bones in hopes that someone will relate to it. Changing pronouns back and forth because I worry that if I do talk about a woman, the poem will be stripped of its context and suddenly be about my queerness when in reality it never was. When I write about love and people I have dated and have crushed on, I want the poem to exist outside of the gender of who I love. I fear my authorial death will result in a complete misinterpretation of what I mean. When I write, it truly does not matter to me if I am writing about a woman or a man. If I feel what I write and I can make someone else feel it too does it matter that I also love women? I write what matters to me overall, regardless of gender, I try to make my poetry as true as possible. Sometimes, when I catch myself over editing I try to take myself back to the moment, to the person, what I loved about him or her. “

“My LGBT Identity has significantly impacted almost all of my art, especially my work over the last two years. Ever since I have allowed myself to accept that I am trans and began my transition (6 months on T!), the impact that my Roman Catholic upbringing has had on my bisexual trans identity has bled into my artwork. Because of the way I was raised, accepting and allowing myself to be authentic has been an upward struggle. And what better way to process and document struggle than art?

Much of my recent work has had a focus on the trans body, particularly the “sanctity” of self-actualization and the god-like power that comes with accepting and creating yourself in the unique and exceptional way that LGBT people must in order to live authentically. Two of my pieces on this topic were actually recently exhibited at UWM in the Trans-lucent exhibition, and will remain there until December 15th (I think). I got sick and tired of never seeing trans representation, so now I am creating that space that I crave in my own work.”

“I think the fact that I am part of the LGBT+ community influences my art directly. Even though I don’t draw as often as I wish, I believe both my drawings and college projects (I am a 3d art/animation student), and my creativity in general is inspired by my personal experiences as a gay woman and common things experienced by the community. This is long as hell so all the answered questions are under the cut

EVERYBODY(as of 5/22/2018)’SQUESTIONS –

#2 – WHAT OC CHARACTER IS/HAS AMENTOR?

The first OC of mine that likedirectly leaps to mind whenever I see the word “mentor” is probably Henry Blake—he’s.One of the many unlisted and not directly on my blog, but his literalprofession is teaching and you don’t get more mentor-y than that! He’s alsotaken people under his wing before directly. Henry was also straight up made asan homage to my first ever like, thought out character (a warrior cat namedFicklestar lmao) and one of the more important things to the character he wasbased on was his role as mentor to a friend’s character. I wanted to keep thatprevalent in all iterations of this character, Henry is just the most recentreally (though he and Ficklestar aren’t even that similar rofl).

I’d also probably categorize myboy Malik as a mentor as well, seeing as he just sort of. Casually adoptseveryone and everything that he comes across. He would definitely like to thinkthat’s more of him just defecting to be a pack leader, but he spends so muchtime teaching others and trying to help them grow that I can’t help but want tolabel him as that. He’d make a great teacher if he wasn’t so busy trying tokeep all of his adopted children safe smh.

#6 – WHAT OC IS THE MOM FRIEND?

Funnily enough, I think thatlabel would go to my character Cat the most. Mostly because he’s the one thattends to take a position of responsibility and look after everyone. Likeliterally, he basically quietly sits back and watches most of the time. But he’salways there with an open ear or shoulder, and because he’s veryobservant/insightful he tends to notice when things are going wrong or ifsomeone needs help. Cat’s also got like, a super strong mama bear streak withthe people that he cares about and though he’s usually very calm, cool andcollected he gets real mad real fast when someone he loves is in trouble.

#7 – WHAT OC REALLY NEEDS THE MOMFRIEND AROUND?

I wanted to give this to Bels—I reallydid, but like I’ve realized that a huge part of Belsaadi’s character narrativeis that I wanted her to learn how to stand on her own. Not just with people,but sometimes in front of them and without them. So this took a little bit morethinking on my part, and I actually think I’m going to land on my character Eleanorfor that.

Eleanor is just very young andnaive! She was prone to making snap decisions that weren’t so great, andDamakos (who I am dubbing the mom friend of that party, sorry Tess) was oftenwho she looked to for guidance when she thought that she needed some. Eleanorneeded someone in general that filled a role of looking after her, and I’vetried playing her outside of her original party and it has just felt odd andincomplete. Maybe I can try again sometimes, but who knows.

#13 – WHICH OCS COMPLIMENT EACHOTHER THE BEST?

HM this is an interestingthought. I don’t often think of my characters as duos or as hanging out—out ofthe D&D squad I’d probably say that Eleanor and Belsaadi would make areally good compliment to one another. Eleanor has enough gentle warmth toreign in the times that Bels tends to dip toward more bloody and not-so-goodsolutions, she’d be very good for keeping Bels firmly “good” aligned to behonest and would be a good force for her to not only look after (and thusfinally take on some responsibility) but also to keep her mindset towardherself more healthy since Eleanor’s not afraid to call people out and steerthem gently into more positive thinking. Bels would be great for Eleanor inthat Bels would probably encourage her to try to consider people’s intentionsmore. She’d let Eleanor flourish in her positivity but would actually probablybe one of the few characters that would try to curb her naivety, using her ownexperiences to guide and steer her straight. So they’d both sort of guide oneanother, which would be lovely in its own way. Bels would also absolutely callEleanor out often on her choice of men, which is something Eleanor needed tbh.

As for the whole Delry crew(which is where the likes of Cat and Henry and Malik are popping up) I wouldlove, absolutely love to have my Jester and Flavius tear shit up together. Youtake my sassy magic-eating demon-boy and mix him with the swashbuckling rogueand I’m sure they’d have some really fun adventures together. They wouldn’tnecessarily compliment each other emotionally (if anything they’d get into alot of trouble together and Jester would aggravate Flav’s want to keep peopleat a playful arm’s length and Flav would aggravate Jester’s issue of notnecessarily caring about others if he doesn’t know them at all). Still! They’dbe a fun like, fighting team in any case. Their physical and magical abilitieswould compliment in fun ways, and I’d love to write it out sometime.

#17 – WHICH OCs DON’T KNOW EACHOTHER, BUT WOULD HATE ONE ANOTHER IF THEY DID?

…Bels would hate my characterStephanie. Steph was the first dnd character I had and lawful evil, and Belswould have just enough insight on her (Steph, even though she was a bard, hadmost of her stats in intelligence) to pick up on the fact that Steph was mostlytrying to manipulate everyone into liking her. That alone would drive Bels upthe wall, but Stephanie’s need to play dumb so consistently that she keepsinformation that could ultimately help others close to her chest unless itbenefits her would make Bels want to wring her neck. Steph wouldn’t care forBelsaadi because she’d call her out all the time, and that would make heruncomfortable and honestly just. Pissed off most of the time.

#18 – WHICH OCs WOULD MAKE THEWORST COUPLE?

Probably my character Gawain andEleanor. Gawain’s basically a paladin housing like 200 ancient evil spiritsinside of him (like Gawain himself would be fine, but not like… the one withthe fun ghosts in him) to protect his brother. He’d probably try to see how farhe could push Eleanor’s want to “save” him by doing truly awful things—first tostrangers, then to her family and the people around her. Eleanor wouldn’t stickaround for the whole thing, but she’d hold out faith for long enough to gethurt and it would… eugh. It’d be bad. Toxic, abusive. Not a good time.

ELEANOR QUESTIONS

# 31 – DOES OC HAVE SIBLINGS? DOTHEY GET ALONG IF THEY DO? DO THEY WISH THEY HAD SOME IF THEY DON’T?

Oh yeah! Eleanor’s the youngestof several siblings and she gets along really well with all of them. In fact,of all my characters Eleanor has the most healthy like, family relationship Iswear. She was using Sending to contact her parents regularly while adventuringon the road, and even sending letters and gifts to other members of her family.I’m fairly certain she’s on good terms with her extended family too tbh.

#34 – WHAT IS SOMETHING UNUSUALOC HAS BONDED WITH SOMEONE OVER?

Perhaps the oddest—and one of myfavorites—thing Eleanor ever did to bond with someone was to dangle off of Theo’sbicep to see how strong he was. This while wearing her full armor by the way.Also her entire friendship with Athrun in general? The fact that he talked inher head constantly when he was a warlock and she was just like “mmkay!” thewhole time basically? It was pretty wild.

#39 – WHO DOES THE OC CONSIDER TOHAVE LEARNED THEIR MOST IMPORTANT LIFE LESSON FROM?

Pelor—yeah she’s that kind ofcleric haha. Eleanor just wouldn’t be Eleanor without Pelor to guide her, it’ssuch a large part of who she is and what she does and what she views as goodthat I honestly can’t even really play her in a game that doesn’t include himin the pantheon. She’d probably follow that up with saying her father—he taughther that being kind was not always easy, it would often—in fact—be the hardestthing she could do, but to embrace her kindness because it was part of who shewas.

#40 – HOW MUCH DO OC’S FRIENDSKNOW ABOUT THEIR PRIVATE LIFE?

Eleanor is pretty open withpeople that she loves and cares about! She tends to tell those she trusts whenshe has a crush on someone, and has never been the sort that likes to lie. Shedoes, however, often hide when she’s not feeling happy or good about something—it’sher job to be the happy cheerful one after all! She’s their sunshine! Sometimesshe feels like she has to put aside her fears because of that.

FELIX QUESTIONS

#26 – DOES OC HAVE A HARD OR EASYTIME MAKING FRIENDS?

Well, considering that during aone shot Felix very warmly convinced two guards of the place we were sneakinginto that he was a recruit and ended up mopping the floors for a good portion ofthe boss battle—Felix makes friends very easily. Having a high charisma helps,but Felix is just a warm and friendly person in general. He rarely dislikespeople, and when he does he tries to see their point of view before stickingwith it. He’s pretty endearing too, even if he’s a bit of a dope.

#35 – WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANTRELATIONSHIP IN OC’S LIFE?

This is a little hard to say—currentlyI’d probably state his mother, though his friend Cass is edging up there to behonest. He’s always been supported and loved by her, and she did a lot for himwhen he was transitioning in just being a great loving force. She didn’t evenreally blame him for when the house burnt down in the end! He cares very muchabout her and wants her to stay safe, no matter where he is and what he ends updoing.

#40 – WHO MOTIVATES OC?

Is it odd to say himself? Felixisn’t a selfish boy by any means, but he believes in growing and learning andbeing the very best you can be! He doesn’t like to let things get him down forvery long, and is quick to motivate himself and push himself forward when hefeels he might end up in a slump. Though he can be sad or upset like manypeople and faces a lot of situations that make him worry, he wants to besomeone good and help people out!

BELSAADI’S QUESTIONS:

#36 – HOW HAS OC BEEN AFFECTED BYTHEIR FRIENDSHIPS?

Bels has changed so much as a character since she firststarted her journey—genuinely being loved and cared about by other people was ahuge factor in that. Bels actually kind of cares about herself now? Which isutterly wild to me. She cares abouther future, and what she does. She doesn’t want to throw her life away but livefor the people that she loves and cares about—and for herself. Which is huge. Bels started out filled to thebrim with self-loathing, half certain that the reason she was abandoned andtreated how she was was her fault. She’s grown in confidence since then, butalso in the person that she is. She’s not just someone who can turn into a bearnow, she knows her own flaws but she’s aware of her strengths too (and not justthe physical ones).

Also, god can I talk about whatwould have happened if Rowan died? She loved Rowan, Belsaadi adored Rowan. It’sthe strongest example of platonic love I have literally ever written in mywhole life. I love them and their relationship to pieces, and for a long timeif Rowan died Bels would have just. Stopped. I couldn’t imagine her withoutRowan at all.

And then I thought, but Rowanwould not like that.

And then Bels started thinking Rowan would not like that. Bels lost a lot ofpeople on her adventures—first Darth, her sort of adopted brother Meero andeven her very first friend Nilus. Rowan was the last of the main party still left with Bels, and I knew losing herwould break her heart—but it wouldn’t make Bels break herself. Or breakentirely. Or just stop trying. Because Bels lost so much she finally learned what it meant to lose people you loved.

She learned that you need to keepliving and carrying on the pieces of them with you. You try to be cautious likeDarth, but sometimes you’re reckless like Meero, you laugh like Nilus whenthings seem darkest. She learned that you’re all at once the people you loveand your own self, and that she—Belsaadi—deserved to live even if she lost itall. That she could get sad, get angry, but she could never let it poison her. Because ultimately what all thosepeople, the people that loved her, would want is for her to keep livinghappily.

Anyway. So yeah, she changed alot. My Bels, I was proud of her by the time that campaign couldn’t continue,even if we never reached the full end of her story.

#38 – HOW HAS OC BEEN AFFECTED BYTHEIR ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIP(S) OR LACK THEREOF?

Ah. I talk a lot about howBelsaadi falls in love easily—far easier than any of my other characters. I don’toften consider that trait a flaw, but when you go to the extent that Bels did thenI definitely do. Belsaadi was so, sodesperate for love. Even after she got it she was always clawing for it ineverything she needed—and Bels, she had a lot of love to give, but she was desperate. And that was a character flaw. Bels had a lot ofromantic relationships that were either barely touched or regrets that shenever acted on. It made her very prone to leaping headfirst into it. She lovedthe idea of love.

#43 – HOW DOES OC MEET MOSTPEOPLE?

Lately? In moments where shefeels like her life is on the line unfortunately. Or when someone else’s lifeis on the line. Whether she’s stepping through portals to answer misguidedcalls for help or if she’s trying to keep herself and her friends alive—a lotof her adventure has been GO GO GO. There haven’t been many lasting friendsthat she’s made where she was feeling something below the level of EXTREMESTRESS. Guess that’s what you get for trying to save the world.

makin dnd-but-not aus for all universes now so heres one for the aarons(should i start calling them the found and lost gang? i dont really want to though... calling them the aarons is more fun) First, i cannot see erin as anything other than an aasimar. which honestly makes no sense with how his “wtf is happening to me aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa” storyline goes but ill figure it out. maybe he was like half/quarter aasimar but didnt know it and didnt really have any aasimar traits and then one day encounters something or other that unlocks those aasimar traits? Idk. it doesnt have to work in actual dnd since this is just an au loosely based on the fantasy stuff from dnd so yeah. He’s also a sorcerer, with some mix of the celestial, stormborn, and solar bloodline. though if i had to choose his main on its probably celestial(cuz aasimar). he’s only level 1 cuz he hasnt had his magic very long but would probably level up pretty quickly and be able to catch up with the others.

aaron is a human ranger. how special and interesting of her. Shes level 4, her chosen combat style is two weapon combat and she has a cat animal companion named Sourdough. Lived in a little house in the forest with her totally just a best friend arin until Plot Happened.

arin is a half elf druid. again, how original. also level 4, and has a dog animal companion named Fern. Fun Fact: Arin and Aaron named eachothers animal companions. which is Very CuteTM. but they arent gay i promise they are totally completely platonic best friends who lived alone in the woods together(I am joking they are a little gay)

Erryn is either a dhampir or a tiefling! probably a tiefling honestly. u wanna know why? Well 1. tieflings have horns, erryn has antlers, close enough to the same thing. 2. hehehehheh tiefling x aasimar 3. shunned from society and finally 4. unlike with aasimar where they seem to always be born that way, tieflings arent! I have proof! This image is taken straight from that one site with pretty much all pathfinder information ever

SOMETIMES LATER IN LIFE. BOOM. i am very cool :) anyways, hes got 2 levels in fighter and one in spellscar oracle. His curse is scrouge.

airen is a human level 4 wizard! hes got a blue ringed octopus familiar thats named spot but he never calls the octopus that infront of other people and pretends hes completely indifferent toward it but he really really loves spot. hes in the enchantment school

erina is a kitsune! Though just like erin and erryn she wasn’t born one. all three of those guys were born human. she has a level in plant witch with a centipede familiar named lilac and 3 levels in rogue. also, in this au she is not evil, shes a solid true neutral! thats because while in the main universe the apocalypse killing all her friends and family kinda broke her a little bit, but that didnt happen in this! So instead shes just a person trying to be nice but whos really mischievious and ends up kinda manipulative sometimes. so maybe shed fit better as chaotic good but she doesnt really wanna break any rules and shes not that good at being good so neutral fits i think.

aerin is a drow! Which is Very Unfun for them, as they have crippling anxiety and depression. Level 4 monk, wouldnt be any kind of class at all but their adoptive parents said it might calm them down a little. It did not. Atleast they can kick stuff now though. i really should make an au where aerin isnt in situations that constantly worsen their mental illness, but that wouldnt be very fun, would it.

finally, aron is a human oracle with the ancestor mystery. her curse is clouded vision But Worse cuz hes just completely blind. level 4 like everyone else. i dont really have anything else to add since im still working on arons character in the main universe so yeah..

erin aaron and arin(And eventually erryn) are all in the same party

airen, erina, aerin, aron, and erryn are also all in the same party

They are Rivals but its kinda an unfair rivalry for awhile since erin’s party has two less members than airens party for awhile and erin is only level 1.

erin erryn and erina all got their Magic Stuff from the same accident. I am still working out what that accident was but either A. some deity got angry, a city suffered the consequences, B. uh oh cultists fucked up a ritual, or C. it was actually deliberate and Someone is trying to bring more magic into a world that probably cant handle it. its probably b tbh. Still deciding if they were the only ones close enough to be effected, everyone else near the accident died, or theres a whole bunch of new nonhumans in an area but itll probably be a mix of all three. Erryn and Erina were already in their party at that point so they were trying to protect the others and get people away, meanwhile erin was just alone and Very Confused. he ran away from the accident unlike the other two so hes still a little human? but probably becomes full aasimar as hes exposed to more magic stuff.

i saw only a few draws of yanya but i want to know more about him :

kicks the door in WELL my friend ur in LUCK bc i have a LOT of shit abt yanya to talk abt

let’s kick it off with his backstory SHALL WE

so ! yanyas a lil kitsune boi raised in a little village in the outskirts of karnosea on famia, we dont have a name for it yet its not important w/e ANYWAY

he was BORN in a bigger town in central karnosea which i also dont have a name for but its also not important, what IS important is that he was a happy lil gremlin for most of his little babby years until he hit about elementary school where all the other kids’ parents started teaching them to be racist towards orcs and kitsunes and lizardfolk n shit! so they started being little shits towards him. which made him not like being in fox shape around them anymore. or in general.

so when his mums, shiranuit, a kitsune barbarian, and resnerina, a half-orc witch, were like “fuck that shit,” they moved away to that much smaller settlement, made up almost Entirely of rarer races like catfolk and wyvaran, and also orcs and ogres and stuff yea

and things were p alright! yanyas mums love him Very Much ok i love them and i love him and they all love each other. shiranuit works as a weaponsmith, and resnerina works as a luthier. so when u mashed their work together, u got yanya, a skald, or Basically a rage bard, who makes all his weapons and instruments, bc he makes his weapons into instruments, and vice versa.

his first weapon in game was a heavy mace that doubled as a guitar! it was crafted from metal ofc but its body was in the shape of a cow skull bc that shit’s metal. on one side was the guitar all strung up, and on the other he’d flip it around and it’s just Covered in spikes for him to beat the shit out of whatever 8)c

he uses his music to express himself. even with cure and mending magic, destroying things and lashing out and being aggressive all the time doesn’t make him feel good, so he’ll usually just turn to screaming out some sick tunes instead. his music’s very important to him.

moving back to early life however! he moved on through school pretty easy. i mean. not Entirely too easily bc the boy’s dumb as a brick so w/e he just. he didnt flunk out at the very least ok Cs get degrees anyway

and when he was abt.. 16, 17, he met ash! his first..and Only girly friend who’s also a kitsune, and a gunslinger! between the two of them, she’s kind of.. the ‘brains’ but. even then she’s not like, super smart. it’s just.. not hard to be smarter than yanya w/ that sweet 7 WIS and 10 INT score lmfao. she’s plenty clever tho!

around this time yanya and ash didn’t go to school, they travelled around their local part of karnosea causing a little trouble here and there bc well. they’re of chaotic alignment. however! chaotic good alignment, so they really only gave hell to..racists 8) .. bc fuck em

the thing is though, while yanya had two mums that loved him a lot, ash didn’t. she had one mum that sucked a bunch and constantly berated her, and yanya knew, it was partially why they spent so much time just carting around wildly, having fun, bc yanya knew she deserved better!

as a side note, karnosea is neighboring artorias, which is the Big Capital of famia, where Queen Azaroa has opened a bard college! probably the best and most chattered abt all over the world tbh. you can bet yanya’s heard of it by now, being as musically inclined as he is, and has always sort of dreamed of going there.. but shit, he and his fam ain’t making that kind of money, lmfao

but! it just so happens, as rumors say, there’s a new scholarship surfacing, offered specifically to members of more. rare races, such as kitsunes! yanya can’t lie about his interest being piqued..

but the thing was, from 16 going on 18, he was sort of perfectly happy and content just travelling around like a rascal with ash, because they were best friends!! and having fun!! and without yanya, he thought ash would be all alone with her fuckin mean ass mum!! he didn’t want that, and also that bard college is probably overrated anyway, whatever..

ash’s mum isn’t having any of it, wtf ash is happy??

the second ash and yanya get back home from whatever little bout of travel they were on, ash’s mum goes on a tirade at ash about how she’s dragging yanya down and holding him back, how she’s not good enough for him, etc.. so ash panics, because she knows he isn’t going to leave her unless she makes him never wanna see her again.

so! that same day, ash tells yanya about. how she’s been cheating on him the whole time. laughs in his face. tells him he should’ve expected it, kitsunes are known for being tricksters, liars after all!

he’s heartbroken.. so he leaves for artorias in a shocked daze probably not a full 12 hr later

and he gets accepted to the college!

ofc being kinda poor and rough around the edges, it’s not without it’s fair share of. snooty ass rich kids being assholes, which is whatever. turns out tho, some of those rich kids are from karnosea! so because yanyas as subtle as an airhorn, rumors about him not being human spread. guess who gets to deal with racist school peers all over again! yaaaay

it’s not totally bleak, though. at college yanya met jonavahn, neyla, pazzoch, and a bunch of the other rare-race scholarship kids and they all form their own little nestled group of friends :’>

soo because yanya’s fuckin shit at like, learning, he like, does kind of piss poor in all the actual study-centric classes lmfao. but! he’s fantastic at the physical side of things–he excels with playing instruments and melee fighting, because it’s less read-a-book-and-study and more muscle memory and physical training and practice, ofc. he just barely graduated bc getting half amazing grades and half shitty grades only balances out to so much, but dAMMIT HE DID IT

so when he graduates, he goes back home for a little bit. im sure while he was at college, he managed to visit his mums back at karnosea for a little bit on breaks, but. just the idea of going back to karnosea, just knowing that. it’s where ash was. it made it a lot harder in practice than it was in theory for him lmfao.

but being back home, getting to see him mums again! it makes him really happy! because his mums love him a lot !!! and love and support him a shit ton!! they’re so proud! look at their son that graduated from the artorian queen’s bard college! holy shit!!

yanya realizes sometimes that he takes his mums for granted.. they’ve always been there to makes him feel like everything’s ok. and they do a damn good job of it!

a fun fact! lershe, my old incompetence quest 1 character, is a half-orc monk–by the end of iq1, he became a lycanthrope (this was in dnd 3.5, so monks could still get infected by lycanthropy), and also a lvl 30 minor deity lmfao

lershe was separated from his dad, who was raising him on his own, at a v young age. at the end of iq1, lershe sought him out, found him again, and found out that he’d started a new family with a new wife! and tbh lershe met his mum in iq1 he could not be happier for his dad lmfao. but they have a daughter! so lershe has a little half-sister! and that little half-sister is resnerina!

because lycanthropes and kitsunes share a sort of similar ability in changing shape ya kno yeah, when yanya was a little kid, lershe was still “alive” as a mortal half-orc (lershe put off accepting that he was an immortal deity for a long time) and. was a big inspiration for yanya, naturally. these kids and people were giving him shit for being able to change shape into something that resembled an animal, but his uncle lershe can do it to, and HE’S a god!! so whatever!!

anyway so iq2 started off by all the characters running into each other in a little town in karnosea and some shit abt a cave off the outskirts of town getting ransacked by mercenaries or smth, idr

a little before then our DM said txeru and yanya were going to enter town together, and aria and karrina were going to enter town together, and we could come up w/ whatever reason why they’d end up together so txeru and yanya met first actually, just outside on town in a little tavern where they. probably got into a little scuffle just bc bar fights are fun. who cares. its fine.

its ironic bc right now, in game, txeru and yanya are fucking pissed at each other! and its great. the drama is clearing my skin. my crops are prospering.

basically txeru is a kasatha, an alien race not native to famia, and he’s come to famia trying to hide from two .. sort of alien police that’re after him for all the petty crimes he’s done. thing is, these two Very Specific alien cops are after him because. he kinda. was romantically involved with Both of them, one being his partner in crime and the other being of kasathan royalty–when he was backed into a corner and about to get caught he kind of ditched his partner and left the noble out high and dry so they’re both PISSED at him

they recently made their way to famia and found txeru, and after we TURNED TAIL AND RAN THE FUCK OFF from them, txeru explained his story

having his heart fucking shattered by ash, yanya kinda wasn’t super happy to find out txeru was a heart-shattering asshole himself!

so he DECKED HIM IN THE FACE and hadn’t spoken a kind word to him in like, a week

NOW they’re talking, it’s just. every word they say to each other is some variant of “fuck you” and atm we’re waiting for a boiling point to hit to see if they’ll kiss and make up or if they’re just gonna have to hate each other! 8) im so excited

meanwhile this entire time, we’re level 10 right now. so half way to the capstone level 20.

yanya still hasn’t formally revealed that he’s a kitsune to anyone in the group. but! as i said. the boy’s subtle as a brick thrown through a window. he’s slipped up enough times in his human disguise for just about everyone in the party to catch just a little something being off about him, but since most of the party is from artorias, away from the rarer races of karnosea, not everyone knows what a kitsune is

BUT we HAVE met a kitsune in game! madame fouxy (blame my dm for that name), but even then she only shifted from an actual fox shape to anthro fox shape, not to human shape. so they’re still unaware that kitsunes can even do that atm, meaning yanya’s ruse is hanging on by a thread lmfao

he’d just come out and say it bc he’s well aware everyone’s probably seen through him by now, but. it’s suppose to be a secret. knowing that everyone knows doesn’t make him wanna tell it, it makes him wanna convince everyone they’re wrong, even though they’re right, and he doesn’t like lying ,and if everyone’s already figured it out already, then he’s not doing a good job at keeping his own damn secrets, which freaks him out, and… etc

yanya’s favorite colors are red and blue, his favorite food is smoked rabbit, he’s 6′2″ flat on his heels in human shape, but he’s wearing stilettos bc he’s use to toe walking in fox-shape, which usually puts him up to about 6′4″, 6′5″..

he’s got a shit ton of muscle, and he eats a lot to keep up his energy! so he has his fair share of fat w a soft belly. he weighs probably anywhere from 250-300 bc im not good w weights lmfao

he has a total of.. 14 piercings, four on each ear, one on each eyebrow, two on his lips, one on his nose, and one on his tongue, almost all of which he got at the bard college lmfaoo

atm at level 10, he has 5 tails! only one spell-like ability from them, however, which is disguise self.

he knows how to sew!

he has a fear of mirrors and heights.

it’s less a ‘fear’ and more. he doesn’t like looking at himself in the mirror, practically can’t stand it when he’s in human shape. seeing his human face all he can think is “liar, liar, liar” because that’s not his ‘real’ face. seeing his fox face he’s only reminded how much fewer people would rather see him this way. if he has to, he’ll much prefer looking at his fox face, however.

AND I THINK..THAT MAY JUST COVER IT..if it’s not everything it’s Pretty close, and if i come up w anything new ur probably gonna see me draw it at some point LMFAO
