During an interview, the manor guests suddenly get a question about you.

this is def an experimental format!! i got this idea while reading the character letters. in the POV of an unknown interviewer (not reader). reader uses they/them.

Q. Could you describe your relationship with (Y/N)?

🔗 Ada - "Yes, that's my lover. I would say our relationship falls within the typical scope of that sort of thing. Of course, I believe we share something special, but everyone does when they're in love, don't they?" She covers all her bases in one decisive breath, leaving little room for me to comment.

⚰️ Aesop sits perfectly upright, fingers threaded at his knees. His eyes drift to the side and he seems to begin speaking mid-thought. "I had... cautioned myself not to upset their perception of me," he explains. "But they pried, and stayed, regardless of what they found... For that, I'm grateful."

📰 Alice has kept a sharp eye on me the entire time, but it's at this question that she drops the formalities. "I wasn't aware you would be prying into my personal affairs. Where did you learn that name?" Her frankness pins me in place. For some reason, I end up apologizing.

🔮 Eli can't help a sheepish smile from blooming across his face. "Well, truthfully... I don't use this term lightly, but they might be the love of my life." He has been consistently grounded with his responses, so I'm surprised to catch him flustered, however subtle it is. Personally, I'm touched.

❤️‍🩹 Emil considers for a moment. He doesn't meet me in the eye, instead pinning his gaze on nowhere in particular. A faint smile ghosts his lips. After a while, he answers, simply, "Safe."

💉 Emily's hands are folded neatly on her lap. At the mention of that name, her shoulders tense, but she otherwise maintains her composure. "Someone I trust." Her answer is vague and cautious, but acceptable. I'll try to uncover a deeper meaning behind that 'trust'.

🌪️ Ithaqua - "Mine." He is curt and to the point. Yours? I echo, hoping he'll elaborate. His head tilts to the side, and while I can't see the face behind his mask, a sense of dread suddenly overcomes me. I decide not to press further.

✂️ Jack stretches out his hand of blades, flexing each finger in front of him. I can't deny the cold sweat that drips down my spine just by being in his presence. "May I respond with a question of my own?" he says to me. "Suppose a butterfly loses its way, and winds up caught in a spider's web. Wouldn't you agree that the more it writhes and struggles, the more exhilarated the spider becomes?" I don't have the courage to hear out the rest of this analogy.

🍀 Lucky - "I've always been known as a pretty lucky guy, but the luckiest day of my life was when I met them! I remember it was the—" He drags me down a long-winded story about their life together. I get the idea. Eventually I'm forced to cut him off.

🩰 Margaretha twirls a curl of hair, a meek blush dusting her cheeks. "Have you ever been in love before? You're never prepared for the magic of it all. I feel a new rush with them everyday. I know, realistically, all good things come to an end, so I tried to remind myself to expect the worst, but they've proven over and over that... I'll never feel safer than in their arms." After rambling for some time, a look of surprise flashes across her face. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to go off like that. Oh, but I've just never met someone who feels so much like true love before."

🔫 Martha doesn't miss a beat. "Sorry, I don't know anyone by that name." I look down to double-check the name written in her file. Her watchful gaze follows my line of sight. Are you sure? I try. "Must've been some confusion somewhere," she insists. The next day, I realize all my files on her and (Y/N) have gone missing.

🪡 Matthias - "Wh-What?" he starts, but keeps going before I can repeat the question. "Oh, uh, an ally, I guess." Well, I gathered that much. When I press for more details, his head sinks low, fingers grasping at the armrest. "I don't know what they saw in me. Was it out of pity?"

🤹 Mike's eyes light up and he blinds me with a contagious smile. "(Y/N)'s a sneaky one, and I mean it—they've got me under the trickiest spell of all. Guess what happens every time I think about them?" Egged on by his grin, I take the bait. You get lovesick? I guess. Suddenly, he tosses a handful of butterfly glitter in my face. "I get butterflies!" Very funny, I sigh, exasperated with these carnies. Why did he have that on hand in the first place?

🧲 Norton leans back in his chair, scowling. "What's that got to do with anything?" He snaps a couple times in my face, urging me to "stay on topic." It's hard to say if this question struck a nerve, as he's been uncooperative for most of this interview, but my suspicions point me to prod further. After all, it'd have been much easier if he just said he didn't know them.

🦋 Vera's face contorts into a leery, hostile glower. "Why do you ask that?" Before I can say anything to mitigate the rising tension, she catches herself, and her expression softens slightly. "I'm sorry. That's... someone quite dear to me, so your question took me by surprise."

🐍 Yidhra's follower goes pale, clearly unnerved. "She won't answer that," she tells me through shallow breaths. "Th-This isn't my place to say, but I'd advise you not to involve yourself with that person." As if on cue, I get a sensation I can only describe as a hand slowly wrapping around my neck. It disappears when I move to scratch it. Must've been my imagination.

summary: people watching with Aemond turns into an interesting conversation.

People watching was something that you often did with your close friend, lover and betrothed Aemond Targaryen. An odd match to most but, the only one Aemond (and you) wanted – quite simply, it was you or no one. Although not ideal, Alicent knew that if she did not grant him this, his wild and wilful nature compounded with his hot temper would result in something she would rather avoid.

Your hair moves in the summer breeze, the cool air blowing in through the open windows and offering some reprieve from the stifling heat as night began to fall. You stood hidden in the shadows with Aemond on the second floor, watching over the festivities as Lord’s and Lady’s became steadily wine drunk.

Watching one Lord in particular, your eyes follow Lord Jason Lannister. Intrigued by his wildly off beat and ridiculous dancing as you lean comfortably against Aemond, his hands braced against the rails on either side of you.

“Lord Jason Lannister is…” you trail off, trying to find the right word.

“A cunt,” Aemond quips without hesitation, recalling previous conversations with the egomaniac.

“Aemond!” you scold quietly, turning in his brace.

“I speak only the truth,” he shrugs.

Rolling your eyes, you let the comment go but, not before remarking sarcastically, “and what would you know about cunts?”

You wait a beat for one of his witty remarks but, it does not come - not right way, at least.

You feel Aemond close the remaining space between the two of you, his body pressing impossibly closer to yours as his breath fans across your ear and cheek - his lips hovering nearby.

“Mm… I don’t know,” he ponders mockingly, a ghost of a smile that you cannot see tugging at the corner of his lips.

“I’d say I know yours pretty well.”

Your eyes go wide, cheeks burning as you press your hand against his mouth with such force that you push him against the opposite wall as your eyes search wildly for any stragglers who may have heard the risqué statement.

“You cannot say such words a loud, someone may hear,” you whisper frantically but not bothering to defend your maidenhood, fingers loosening on his mouth.

“I speak only the truth,” he smirks lightly from behind your fingers, eyes twinkling with mischief but, it's gone as quickly as it comes when you do not smile.

“Hey, I promise you need not worry, my love,” he reassures, seeing the genuine fear in your eyes if people found out about your pre-marital activities. “I would never allow you to be in harm’s way.”

Calm washes over you and your resolve breaks, knowing his words to be true. Shoulders slumping, you lower your hand from his mouth but, he captures it in his own before you can completely drop it. Bringing the tips of your fingers back to his mouth, he presses a gentle kiss against them before laying your hand to rest between his own and over his heart.

WAITING FOR A BUS

I'm a traveling man straight from a can, I'm a thousand miles away from my number one fan.

Pairings: Aemond Targaryen x Reader, Daemon Targaryen x Reader (MODERN)

Description: A new promotion at work prompts you to move into a small modest town with your boyfriend, Aemond Targaryen. There you meet a few friendly faces. It seems like life is going where it's supposed to. That is until you meet your new boss, Daemon Targaryen, who is your boyfriend's estranged uncle.

It doesn't help with the fact that you've been having dreams about him since birth.

Daemon's house was strangely beautiful — though his aesthetics remained dark and melancholy, it was an opposite to the exterior of his house, it was covered with light and flowers. Your grip on Aemond's hand tightened, feeling out of place in the big mansion. His other hand reached for the door-knob, opening the heavy doors with ease. Everyone was gathered in the living room, seemingly sharing stories about each other's lives.

"(Your name), you look amazing!" Harwin complimented while holding a tray of cookies in his hands. He was wearing his 'househusband' apron, which told you that cooking wasn't done yet. "I brought some wine," you raised your hand a little bit, showing him the bottle of wine on your hand. He placed the cookies down on the coffee-table. He gently tapped Rhaenyra's back, motioning for her to take a bite — but his wife seemed to be focused on Alicent's story.

Aemond's hand finds itself on your waist again. He gives you a soft smile, and he takes the wine out of your hand. "I'll put this in the kitchen, you should talk with the ladies while I do that." he suggested and you nod, quickly finding your way beside Helaena.

His uncle carried an aura that always pissed Aemond off. He's only been in Daemon's house once, but it was enough to give him a migraine. He places the wine loudly on the counter, interrupting the conversation between Laenor and Daemon. "Aemond," the man responded bitterly while taking a taste of his wine.

"Rogue Prince," Aemond replied with an icy eye that was narrowed slant in anger. "Don't make this dinner complicated. You might just regret it." he warns, turning his eye to meet Daemon's. He was a little taken aback by his uncle's expression. How long has it been? A thousand years since they've fought, he almost forgot how rabid the man could get. Daemon's eyes were those of a wild-hound, staring at his nephew from his feet to his head.

"What do you mean by that?" the man challenged, placing his glass on the sink. Daemon takes a deep breath, and he tries to calm his anger. A single strike from his fist would deem the man incapable of thought, but he was better than that — he could cause more pain with his words. "What do you want from her?" he asks, feeling his body tighten with every word.

"Uncle, you're doing too much. Calm down." the man smirked while crossing his arms, his eyes didn't take a second off the older man. "She doesn't even remember who you are. She loves me more." he taunted feeling venom leak from his every word.

Daemon clenches his fist, but he does well to hide his anger. "You are unsure. I can't blame you, nephew — eternal love cannot be broken by a charlatan, though you may try." the man decides with that answer for now, but he intends to add on it in the future. He doesn't understand what kindness you see inside of Aemond. His nephew was stupid and immature, not even reaching half of his prowess.

Aemond laughs loudly, his voice vibrated through the room. His mind flashes back to you in the past. Hands tied on the bed-frame, eyes flowing with tears and begging for death. Now that was eternal love. Relationships can only form when death is an element.

"You are lucky to have died before she got captured." he chuckled to himself while opening the wine-bottle with a sharp knife. "I'm sure that you couldn't have saved her from me." he added with a smirk, before turning his back on Daemon.

Before he could take another step outside of the kitchen, Daemon's fist already made contact with his body.

'How dare he?' Daemon thought as he continued punching his nephew. Aemond deflected a few of his punches, but he suffered more in return. The boy might've studied martial arts, but Daemon was a trained soldier. Daemon was supposed to land another blow, but Laenor pulled him away quickly — fearing that the family would see Aemond's marks.

Aemond laughed again, spitting blood on the floor. "You may hurt me, but you'll never change what happened." he taunted once more, feeling the wine spill on the floor. Daemon breaks free from Laenor's hold, and he pins the younger man to the wall. "What did you do you little bitch?" he cursed feeling dark-blood pump through his veins. His anger saved you. But his anger could also murder his nephew.

"You should've seen her, Daemon. She and her sister were pathetic." he laughs and another punch landed on his face. It was Harwin Strong who just walked in scene. Harwin remembers you — his bastard sister's sister, a childhood friend that treated him like a brother. He loved you. He was family. Aemond falls to the floor, unconscious.

"You fucking idiots," Laenor cursed while staring at the boy's beaten down body. "This is why I fucking hate men," he cursed to himself while running his fingers down his hair. "You've finally done it. You killed someone." he yells at Daemon while staring at the blood-stained floor.

Daemon's eyes widened and he points in Harwin's direction. "I didn't give him that hard punch, Harwin did!" he argued while staring at the boy's body too. Harwin kneels down on the floor, reaching for Aemond's neck. "Bad news, there's a pulse." he stood up, wiping the blood in his apron. It wasn't his intention to knock the boy out, but he did mean to maim him permanently.

"That's not a bad fucking news," Laenor rolled his eyes while peeking through the door. Good. You were still talking to the family. He reaches for the doorknob, and he locks the door properly. "How are we going to wake him up? We have dinner in an hour?" he cursed mentally, hearing the doorbell ring on the other side of the house.

"That's probably Aegon — he's watching the kids. Under no circumstance is he allowed to see this." Harwin mumbles while monitoring the cctv camera from his phone. "Hey!" Daemon glared at the man, seeing another person have access to his personal camera. "Shut up," Laenor rolled his eyes while staring at Harwin's phone. The man was right. It was Aegon and he was heading right to the kitchen.

Aegon knocks on the door. He was whistling a soft tune, and a smile was etched on his face. "Not the right time, Egg." Harwin yells out, trying to mask his nervousness. "Uhh okay, but one of the kids peed in their diapers." he reported while looking back at the crying kids behind him. "My youngest son is in tenth-grade, I think that's one of yours." Harwin replied with an eye-roll, and the man walks away again — realizing that it was in fact, Jahaerys.

Aemond has been gone for quite a while. You couldn't think of anything else except his well-being.

Alicent peers through your shoulder, fighting back a small chuckle. "Don't worry, darling. He's probably kept in the kitchen." she comforted, pressing a soft hand on your shoulder. You smile for a bit, before remembering that he had no cooking skills.

"Yeah, in our family it's mostly the men who cook." Rhaenyra adds while combing through Jahaera's hair. She always wanted a daughter of her own, but after her recent miscarriage — she and her boyfriend never tried for another baby again. "Well, you'll find me cooking in our house more often." you attempt to stand up, feeling your phone buzz slightly.

Helaena talks for the first time this evening. "They're probably making a nice surprise for the kids," she gave you a small smile, before returning back to stitching. You decided in that very moment, that you liked Helaena. She was put-together, and it was rare to see a child of 17 do that.

Harwin remained squatted on the floor, his hands were pressed to his chin as he attempted to create a worthy alibi. "Sherlock, you better save our asses." Laenor cursed, already down to his seventh glass of wine. He was clearly panicked with the idea of killing someone. Daemon couldn't resist a chuckle, remembering the enemies that Laenor used to slay.

"I can't think with you yelling, Watson." the man spat, returning back to his thoughts. Daemon assumed that there would be more bad-blood between them, but there was happily none. They acted like an old married couple most of the time. "We've been here for thirty-fucking minutes, he could have a concussion." he laid out while taking another sip of his wine. Laenor needed something stronger. Tequila or vodka? Anything that would take his mind off the situation.

"He doesn't." Daemon piped, knowing the first signs of a concussion. Laenor rolled his eyes again, "How do you know that? Harwin has the hand of a fucking bull." he cursed again and Harwin raised his fist, showing that his hand was indeed big. "This big fucking hand is about to meet your face if you don't shut up." he threatened, earning a chuckle from Daemon.

"I have a plan." Harwin tilted his head. "I'll carry this S.O.B up to the guest room, until he wakes up. Make sure that they are all distracted." he explained and Daemon nodded. The plan was a little faulty, but he could feign innocence if they were ever caught.

"What does S.O.B mean?" Daemon frowned, and Harwin looked at the both of them. "Son of a bitch." he replied, watching as both of the man cringed.

That anon does have a point when saying that lots of Aemond x OC fics (especially where the OC is a daughter of Rhaenyra) use some of the same plot points for their made up character. For example they will have their OC, instead of Luke (sometimes he will not exist at all in the fics and she takes his place), be the one who takes Aemond's eye which is even more startling when, as an adult, he will hopelessly fall in love with OC, is ready to sacrifice everything, abandon his family and switch sides just to marry her something that will almost never happen in the opposite case. While yes, Aemond developing an obsession with the person who took his eye is very normal, falling in love is a totally different thing and seems forced and just…unrealistic? And it's very weird when you see team black stans complaining from time to time about the amount of Aemond fics on AO3 paired with a daughter of Rhaenyra's falling in love with him and betraying her side when 99% of the same fics are written by other team black fans and have Aemond doing the switching sides thing lmao.

Of course people are free to write whatever they want about fictional characters, but after a while these type of fics are quite tiring since they're following the same plot points and tropes, more or less: she takes his eye or defends her brother doing the same without even trying to understand Aemond's POV, is either a Strong or Daemon's bastard masquerading as a trueborn Velaryon, rides Vermithor or Cannibal and knows how to control them unlike Aemond, behaves and sounds like a modern day feminist or is a girlboss who, unlike all the other ladies, knows how to fight using a sword and so on while Aemond behaves like a dumb simp all the time and is constantly villainized by the narrative (as well as most of the commentators) for being a misogynist who hates seeing women in power because why is he not swearing allegiance to his half-sister in two seconds????!!! Not to mention that in most of those fics the greens are villainized to the point where they seem like cartoon characters, especially Alicent who is always characterized as the worst mother ever who doesn't love her children at all or as a religious extremist. I've had to quit reading some precisely because of reasons like these despite them being popular and amongst the fics that were very well written otherwise. Nowadays if I really want to read an Aemond/OC fic (or an Aegon one) I'd probably search and choose one in which the OC is a lady from some random house…at least with these ones you have a lesser chance of being disappointed down the road if you're a green fan.

oh definitely the aemond x oc fics really started to get very derivative after a couple of months and the template you provided is really spot-on. but those traitor!aemond fics (where luke is replaced by another black-aligned OC) were never really written by greens anyway, so it's funny that anon thought to complain about that in the askbox of a green account :)) i also noped out of quite a few fics when they started with the alicent-bashing, i just don't have the patience for that & it was rarely even nuanced criticism anyway, at least not in my travels

i don't really know what the state of the nation is nowadays, if lucemonds really discovered body horrror, but at the time i was complaining about it, their dead doves were, at most, ridiculous dungeon sex slave fics that would be on par, comedic-wise, with Unhinged by Vera Valentine or Stuffed by the Were-Turkey by Tate McKirk. and, like, good for you if you enjoy the silliness of it, bc it's never really that serious, but, equally, be aware that people are going to poke some lighthearted fun at you for it

the thing about lucemond is that, while there is definitely basis in the enemies-to-lovers trope or the idea of obsessing over your tormentor, at the end of the day they have to be honest with themselves and admit that they started shipping it after they watched hotd. it's an entirely show thing, no one shipped those two when only Fire & Blood existed. and, say what you will, but there is no shipping subtext in the show about this either, PLUS the visual discrepancy between the actors' ages makes it really not secksual at all. like, that is clearly a grown man and a barely pubescent teenager, there is no "story chemistry" to speak of :)) and i'm not even talking about the squeamish implications of that taboo topic, but there is 0 such <chemistry> or buildup in the text of FB and there is 0 in the media text of the two hotd episodes where both of them appear. not from the part of the actors and not from the part of the technical crew that filmed and edited it. i would love for someone to point out at least 1 such frame that indicated lust or longing or some kind of repressed romantic feeling. so it's only natural people are treating it as some kind of crackship.

anyway it's funny people are still in the grips of lucemond more than one year on. by all means do what you want, but, man, you gotta make some allowances for the goofiness of it all :))

Oooh this is such an interesting ask! So, I have a lot of pairings so I'll just answer for the ones who come to mind/have kids (obvi). I'm also assuming this is for my Choices pairings but if you meant my RC pairings feel free to ask again!

Chandini x Bryce: They have two kids: Kehlani and Naveen Lahela-Ramakrishnan. Kehlani is definitely closer to Ethan (it's been awhile since I've looked at her OC file but I'm pretty sure I made Lani his goddaughter?) and Jackie, while Naveen is closer to Sienna and Rafael. They're both super close with their Aunt Keiki!

Lyra x Trystan: In the universe where these two end up together, they have twin daughters (Amber Marguerite Thorne and Alice Nayeli Thorne). Both twins are very close with their namesake, Amber and Marguerite, and Alice and Nayeli (CoP MC). But Amber spends a little more time with Lydea and Nayeli specifically because she's interested in learning combat as the next Drakovian heiress. As a whole, Amber is closer to the Thornes and nobility while Alice is closer to the Fae and other Nightbound characters like Nik, Vera, and Cal as the future Queen of the Fae Realm.

"Liam" x Kalyani: For most of her life, she was closest with Sienna and Rafael since they were her parents. But speaking for the TRR characters, Sabrina is closest to Hana and Olivia (who I think I made a couple for some reason?), but she also does spend a lot of time with her fun Uncle Maxwell and her former father-in-law Drake (long story 😭)

A/N: There's a spoiler in here but, it's not really a spoiler because there's no context. It's technically still set during the Dance of Dragons but, I completely changed certain aspects of it when it comes to House Baratheon.

Your heartbeat echoes in your ears, mouth dry and arm's heavy as your hands try but, fail to fist themselves in the material of your riding pants.

Staring at a spot on the floor, your throat begins to close up as the witness you had not known existed tells the tale of a young girl who had slain the Lord and Lady of Storm’s End before setting their quarters ablaze to cover up their murder.

Aemond sits on the Iron Throne, a crown of Valyrian Steel set with blood red Ruby’s encircling his head; looking every bit like a King as he now rules as Prince Regent with his lady-wife Cassandra Baratheon ruling beside him.

Your eyes flicker up toward Aemond. His gaze does not meet yours but, he’s keenly aware of you and the anxiety that riddles your body.

You don’t bother looking at Cassandra, knowing all too well of her hatred towards you. Everyone knew of her hated towards you and, why should she like you? With you around, she was in constant competition for her husband’s attention and though you were never vying for his, he always gave it anyway.

A problem that might’ve been easily solved had it not been for the fact that you were Aemond’s dearest friend and even though Cassandra was the perfect Lady-wife, she simply could not compete with you.

But, she had you. She finally had you.

Years spent digging into your past. A girl of ten and two who seemingly appeared from thin air, brought into the service of then Queen Alicent and placed in high ranking. Not a Lady by any means but, never to be touched by those above you; made possible by the unwavering friendship you forged with Prince Aemond - you fiercely loyal to him and he to you.

What the witness does not tell however, is that you had acted on the orders of Ser Otto Hightower. Brought into his services as a mere girl of six to be his eyes and ears amongst the common folk before, he eventually had you trained as a skilled warrior and assassin to carry out the more heinous of crimes - including the murder of Lord & Lady Baratheon at the age of ten and one. A political move made with hindsight in mind to bring House Baratheon to the Hightower-Targaryen's side as their deaths left behind an orphaned child - a little girl and heir to Storm’s End who would come to marry Prince Aemond and have all of the Stormland's behind Aegon when he eventually became King.

And though Lady Cassandra is not aware of any of this, Aemond, Prince Regent of the Seven Kingdoms is.

You are his dearest friend after all.

“And who pray tell was the young girl that you saw- “Cassandra chokes on her words. “that you saw murder my parents? The Lord & Lady Baratheon of Storm’s End.”

A look of triumph mixed with relief graces Cassandra’s face as tears well in her eyes as the witness points a shaky hand at you.

She had you. She finally had you.

“Ser Dayne,” Cassandra calls her King’s Guards. “Arrest her.”

“You will do no such thing,” Aemond commands from the Iron Throne.

Triumph turns to bewilderment as Cassandra suddenly turns to face her husband who gracefully descends the steps of the Iron Throne.

“Take the witness to the cells beneath the crypts,” Aemond instructs both his and Cassandra’s King’s Guards with no room for argument. “These accusations will not leave this room. See to it that his tongue is removed and tell no one of what has taken place today.”

Cassandra watches in horror as Aemond continues to give orders. Her eyes then focusing on you and the way you do not react, not even once as everything plays out. It is then that realisation hits Cassandra like a wave of ice-cold water.

Aemond knew.

Once the throne room is empty except for the three of you, Aemond moves to comfort you but, Cassandra places herself in front of him.

“Did you know?” Cassandra asks him hoarsely, eyes shining with unshed tears of hurt and betrayal.

“Yes,” Aemond speaks without hesitation.

A harsh sob escapes Cassandra, her hand coming to her mouth as she stumbles away from him at his admission.

“How could you?” she sobs. “How could you do this to me?”

You close your eyes, head shaking softly; hating yourself for the position you had unintentionally put Aemond in.

“If you had not so incessantly pushed at this, we would not be in this position,” Aemond reminds her bitterly.

“Me?” Cassandra places a hand on her chest, unbelieving of the words she was hearing.“I seek justice for the murder of my parents, and I am to blame?”

“It is not justice you seek but vengeance. Do not mistake me for a fool,” Aemond seethes.

“But, Aemond,” she pleads. “They were my parents. My fam-”

“She is my family!”

“and I am your wife!” Cassandra bellows, voice bouncing off of the high ceilings.

A muscle in Aemond’s jaw jumps, his hand flexing in irritation as he coolly strides up to Cassandra and corners her between himself and the wall. Cassandra shrinks back in fear and the action irritates Aemond. For all that he is, he would never intentionally hurt her but, for you…

Leaning down to Cassandra’s ear, Aemond whispers for only her and him to hear. Her face turning white as a sheet with each word he speaks, and when Aemond pulls away there is terror in her eyes. Holding her gaze for a second longer, Aemond silently challenges her, daring her to speak against him but, she does not. Instead, nodding her head reluctantly and leaving the throne room in a rush but, not before sending a scathing look toward you.

Silence follows the echo of the heavy doors closing behind her, the two of you now standing alone in the throne room and you don't ask what he said. You don't want to know.

Aemond releases a shaky breath through his nose, tension leaving his body as he finally approaches you. Brushing a few stray pieces of your hair, he cradles your face between his hands, softly smoothing out the lines of worry.

"I can handle myself," you remind him gently.

Aemond's eyebrows furrow with a small shake of his head.

"I know but, you never have to," he tells you.

A silent promise passing between the two of you that he would always protect you first and foremost.

Placing a kiss on your forehead, Aemond brings you into his arms and rests his chin atop your head as your arms go around his waist and his arms around you.

Aemond loves wife (in his own way) it is true but, she is not the wife of his choosing.

Aemond loves his wife, it is true but, he is in love with you.

"No you won't, I'll hold your hand"

"Yes, and then you will let go and then I'll fall."

The seven year old Prince Aemond smiled as he rolled his eyes. He looked at the seven year old Vera and held out his hand, "Grab it, and I'll prove you wrong." She looked at his hand before slowly taking it in hers. He led her closer to the ocean stones and nodded to them, "Go on."

Vera let out a soft sigh and grabbed in one hand her skirts and hopped on the wet stones. Aemond started to walk while holding her hand, and she followed as she jumped on the stones.

Criston was on his guard along with the other knights, he was watching his daughter and the young Prince. He watched them with a small smile.

Vera managed to convince the Queen that they should have a day outside the Red Keep, and spend the day at the beach. So the Queen told the King of the plan and they agreed that they should take the children with them.

It was one of the very few moments of been an actually family. The one of the very few moments the King paying attention to his other children and not Rhaenyra.

A year after Vera started to live with Criston and the royal family, Queen Alicent gave birth to another son, Prince Daeron Targaryen. Vera had a hard time to share her mother figure for a little while which Criston and the King found amusing.

However, as Vera grew with the royal children, she grew to have a sibling relationship with each. Vera was also very close to her father, Criston Cole, and to her King and Queen.

As Vera was growing up, she showed a light olive skin colour much like Criston, and same brown eyes and hair, which was why no one questioned about Vera's real parentage. Everyone besides the people who were there that day in the forest years ago, thought that Criston was really Vera's father since they both look very much alike.

Criston watched as Vera jumped off of the stones and smiled up at the Prince. He watched as Princess Helaena walked toward them with Daeron, showing them some seashells they picked.

Vera let go of Aemond's hand and ran up to the Queen and King who were sitting with a bored Aegon. She grabbed the older Prince's hand, "Come." She didn't listen to his protests and pulled him toward his siblings and the water, while the royal parents watched in amusement.

King Viserys laughed when Vera and Aemond pushed Aegon into the water. The boy wasn't angry or annoyed and just quickly pulled his brother into the water after. Vera, Helaena and Daeron laughed at the two.

Queen Alicent glanced at the King and smiled as he watched the children. Those were a rare moments where he smiled at his children, or watched them fondly playing together with Vera.

They saw Vera picking something up and run back to the King and Queen while the children were playing. She grinned as she stood next to the Queen and held out a starfish, "Look."

"It's beautiful," the Queen said with a bright smile. "I feel it moving," Vera mumbled. "Then you should return it to sea, Ver," Criston said with a small smile and his daughter quickly looked up at him, "If you won't, it will die."

Vera's eyes grew wide and she quickly ran back to the water. She gently placed the starfish inside the water, "Sorry," she whispered. The water pulled the little starfish farther into the sea and the girl stood up, and moved back to the royal children.

Vera had returned back to the Red Keep after the sun started to set. The children were now all exhausted from all the fun they had at the beach and were ready to even go to bed early.

Vera was led by her father to their family chamber and instead of going to her chamber, she went to her father's. "Wrong room," Criston said in amusement as he picked her up. Vera sighed tiredly as she rested her head on his shoulder, "I'm tired," she muttered.

Criston chuckled, "Yes, I can tell," he said as he took her into her chamber and placed her gently on the bed, "Lyla will be here in a moment, she'll help you change and you can go rest."

Lyla was a daughter of a servant, and three years older than Vera. Since Vera had become the Queen's ward, the woman insisted for Vera to have a maid to help her in any means since she was at the age of five, so when Vera met the older girl, the two had immediately became friends.

After Lyla came and helped Vera change her clothes, Vera hopped back on her bed. Criston pulled the blankets on her, "It's getting cold in the evening," he said, "Warmer?"

Ver nodded, "Mmm. Father?"

"Mmm?"

"Why mother isn't here?"

Criston froze by the question.

She didn't knew the truth. He could have never told her that she was left to die in the forest. He didn't want to see her little heart break from finding out she wasn't his blood. That he wasn't her true father.

Criston thought about what to say to her at the moment. "Remember what happened to the King's first wife?"

Vera nodded, "Yes. She died during childbirth. But the babe didn't survive after."

Criston nodded, "Yes. The same happened to your mother," he said. He didn't knew what happened with her true mother. She could have died during the birth... but maybe not.

Vera thought for a moment, "Did you love her?" she asked quietly.

Criston stared at her sad eyes and nodded, "Yes. I did."

"What was she like? How did she look like? Because everyone says I look like you," Vera said.

Criston smiled, "Is it so bad?"

"No!" Vera said with a smile, "I just want to know how she looked like, and if I look a bit like her."

"I think if you look like me, then that means you gonna grow up to be the most beautiful lady in this all realm," Criston said with a small smirk and she laughed, "May gonna have to lock you up in here so no man could try to take you away."

"Father!" she laughed. "You not that pretty!"

"What?" Criston asked faking an offended look. He started to tickle her, making her laugh harder as she tried to get away. "What did you just say? Are you saying I'm ugly?"

"Yes!" she laughed, "No! Wait! I surrender!"

Criston stopped as he smiled down at the laughing girl. "Come on," he chuckled as he pulled the blankets back.

"Father?" Vera asked.

"What?"

"I love you," she said softly. Criston's eyes soften and he smiled softly at her. He brushed her hair softly, "I love you as well."

"I still think you're a bit ugly."

"All right, come here."

"No, wait! I was jesting!"
