pairing: yoongi x reader (with background jimin x oc female) rating: g genre: established relationship, christmas, fluff with the smallest touch of crack and a sprinkle of angst genre: established relationship, christmas, fluff with the smallest touch of crack and a sprinkle of angst summary: It was unthinkable. Unfathomable. Unrealistic. Yoongi would never. song: Time to Fall in Love ~ Lindsey Stirling and Alex Gaskarth an: sweetest birthday wishes to my 언니 @daydreamer-writing. i told her i was gonna write her a yoongi drabble for her birthday and here it is!! hope you enjoy jj (and everyone else who reads it :P )
"He forgot!"
"You don't know that, eonni!" Jay lightly poked your shoulder as you stomped down the sidewalk. Snow lightly fell in the city, creating a soft, lovely atmosphere, and while you were cold, your anger was keeping you warm.
"How can I not know that?!" You shot back, slightly annoyed but not surprised that Jay was still trying to stay optimistic. You two celebrated your one-year friendship anniversary a few weeks ago, and you'd learned a lot about her throughout that year.
Like how she was always soooo cheerful, even when there wasn't any reason to be.
You paused your walking for a moment to glare at the younger girl. "He. Forgot." Your hands clenched in your jacket pockets. "It's been hours. I have no calls, no texts, and I know he doesn't have a super packed schedule right now." You looked away and started stomping again so she wouldn't see the tears that were starting to prick your eyes. "Yoongi forgot."
You hoped she didn't pick up the slight tremor in your voice. Thankfully, Jay decided to stop trying to convince you that Yoongi hadn't forgotten your birthday, at least for a few minutes.
It was unthinkable. Unfathomable. Unrealistic. Okay, sure, you hadn't been dating for more than a few months at this point, but still. Jay had been talking about celebrating your birthday non-stop for at least the past two weeks. Yoongi had to know. There's no way he would have forgotten. Yoongi would never.
It was one of the things you loved about your boyfriend. You fell for his quiet but caring love language, how he showed his feelings rather than said them, how he always remembered the small things. You told him once on your second date exactly how you liked your coffee, and he's made it for you like that ever since.
So you could not understand how the day was nearly over and you still had not heard one "happy birthday jagiya" in any form from him. Jay had dragged you out hours ago to do ~fun birthday things~ but you were sure she was just trying to distract you. You loved the sweet girl, but you were tired and cold and just wanted to curl up at home with some spicy noodles and be sad.
"Jay."
"Huh."
"Jay."
"What."
"Jayyyy!"
"Y/N-eonni!"
Your lips curled up a bit at your little game; normally you'd drag it out longer until she dropped eonni entirely, but you weren't quite feeling it right now. "I wanna go home."
Jay stopped walking and looked at you. With a slight tilt to her head, she smiled and asked, "How about we go to my place instead? There's still more birthday celebration time." You groaned and looked up, closing your eyes against the cloud-darkened sky. "Come on! I'll make you your coffee, and I'll make me my hot cocoa, and we'll sit down and watch shitty Christmas rom-coms. It'll be fun!"
You didn't really want anymore of Jay's "fun", but you were a sucker for coffee. With a sigh and a muttered, "Sweet baby Jesus," you agreed and called an Uber. One fifteen minute drive (and a few bad karaoke attempts from said unholy child) you and Jay were on your way up to her and Jimin's shared apartment.
Jay and Jimin had been dating for over half a year now, and it was through them that you were introduced to Yoongi. He and Jimin had been friends for forever, and Jay (according to her) just knew she had to get you and Yoongi in the same room, and then sparks would fly. A bit fanciful for both yours and Yoongi's tastes, but she was right.
"Your perfect boyfriend isn't home, is he?"
Jay rolled her eyes as the elevator doors closed. "Jimin isn't perfect."
"He hasn't forgotten your birthday."
"He hasn't had a chance to! My birthday isn't for another two months!" She breathed out a laugh and pulled her phone from her pocket. "I'm pretty sure he's out with the guys tonight, but I'll double-check for you."
You pouted, getting a bit bad for taking your feelings out on her. "No, you don't need to do that. It's fine if he is there." Jay typed up a message anyway and hit send.
"Too late~" she smiled, "I'll know in a minute." The elevator dinged and the doors opened. As the two of you walked together down the hall, Jay's phone went off. You couldn't see the screen, but the smile on Jay's face stretched wider, the kind of smile she had when you knew she was excited about something.
"What is it?" You asked, but she ignored you. Jay simply grabbed the sleeve of your jacket and began pulling you faster to her apartment door. "Jay!"
"Come on come on come on!!" was the only response you got. Her other hand was digging around in her jacket, probably looking for her keys. She stopped right outside the door, leaving you jostled right behind her as she jammed the key into the knob.
The door opened, and despite the outside hall light coming in, the rest of the apartment was pitch black. You didn't get a good chance to see it though, as Jay tugged you in and closed the door. "Quick, shoes and jackets off!"
"You know I don't like quick, quick gives me anxiety!" Jay didn't respond this time, instead leaving you inside her doorway in the dark apartment. You heard her footsteps get farther away from you and rolled your eyes in annoyance.
"Do you not turn lights on anymore?" You asked as you removed your jacket and boots. All you got in return was her signature mischievous giggle. "Unholy child. Jay i can't see!"
"Then turn the light on!" You stumbled a few steps forward and reached out blindly, hitting your hand against the wall until you finally found the light switch. As soon as you turned the light on-
"SURPRISE!"
You were met by a large group of people, all smiling wide, with Christmas and birthday decorations littering the walls and a snack buffet on the kitchen table and counters. Jay had somehow joined the group in the dark and was standing next to Jimin; the rest of his friends were there too, and some people from work, and in front of them all...
Yoongi walked towards you, a large bouquet made of poppies and a streaming coffee cup in his hands. You watched him with wide eyes and a dropped jaw as he smiled and quietly said, "Happy birthday jagiya."
You fought against the tears forming in your eyes. You took the coffee (which felt so nice on your frozen fingers) and looked around at everything. "You... did all this for me?"
"I told you he didn't forget!" Jay shouted, which was met by several people shushing her.
"I didn't forget," Yoongi told you, "I just wanted to make your first birthday we celebrate together special. So I rounded up the guys and asked Jay to keep you busy for the day."
You peaked over his shoulder to glare at your friend. "You were in on this?!"
"Of course I was! I'm the only one who can get you out of the house!" You were going to retort but Jay continued. "Now kiss your loving boyfriend who did not forget your birthday and let's get this party started!"
You smiled against your will and looked up. Sure enough, there was a small sprig of mistletoe hanging from the ceiling. "Did Namjoon put that up?"
Yoongi laughed. "You know we didn't let him near any food or decorations." You laughed with him, then you both leaned forward. Everyone cheered.
Kissing Yoongi was one of your favorite things in the entire world. He was always so gentle with you, and his lips were always so soft. You didn't kiss for long, seeing as you had an audience, but it was enough to heal all the small cracks that you had created throughout the day.
Someone turned on some Christmas music (probably Jungkook) and someone else popped the champagne (definitely Jimin). Yoongi took your hand and fully pulled you into the warm atmosphere. There was now a permanent smile affixed to your face.
Maybe this wasn't the worst birthday you'd ever had. Maybe it was, in fact, the best.
This wasn't great but I hope you liked it! Thank you for reading! And make sure you wish jj a happy birthday!!

What are some of your favorite one shots you have recently read?
I can’t remember titles or authors so here’s what I do when I open ao3
I hit search, and I put nothing in the search bar
Then I go into edit search and make sure single chapter and completed are both selected
Now I type in my filters
Fandom: all time low (band)
Characters: Jack Barakat; Alex Gaskarth
Pairings: Jack Barakat/Alex Gaskarth
Don’t bother typing jalex anywhere it’s gonna screw your search
I skip over most of the other filters, sometimes I’ll add a tag if I’m trying to find something specific
The most important filter is the “sort by” I usually select kudos or hits, but for jalex I’ll sometimes click date posted (descending) for most recents since the fanbase isn’t super active

You're like the sunshine in the lazy days of June (Jalex one-shot)
Description: Pure self-indulgent fluff because I'm feeling a bit lonely. Jack and Alex are lounging around on the tour bus on a chilly day in June.
Also available here on Wattpad.
Alex's POV
It's June, the start of Summer, which means one day you're outside having a BBQ with your friends, and the next you're wrapped up in a jumper trying to remember what the sun looked like. Today, unfortunately, is the latter.
Yesterday was much the former- we all set up deck chairs outside the bus and had a couple drinks, and thinking it would stay that warm I went to sleep in just my boxers with the covers thrown out into the walkway. Unfortunately Mother Nature had other plans, and I woke up absolutely freezing, rolling over and pulling the curtain open I found out someone had nicked my covers in the night- I can't really blame them, I definitely would've done the same.
Blowing out a sharp breath to psych myself up I quickly push myself out of the mild warmth of my bunk and tip-toe jog over to the wardrobe, trying not to wake anyone up. Reaching in I grab the first pair of joggers and hoodie I can find, immediately putting them on, relishing the new found warmth.
I tip-toe back to my bunk to grab my phone, unlocking the screen to check the time- 7:00 A.M. I guess it serves me right for being so cocky with my sleeping attire, I decide there's no point going back to bed- I may as well make use of the extra time I have now with something productive. Heading into the front of the bus I make sure the door to the bunks is closed before putting the kettle on and getting out a mug and the stuff for a coffee. I lean against the counter as I wait for the water to boil, looking down I realise it's Jack's hoodie I'm wearing- I pull the neckline up over my nose and breath in his smell, wrapping my arms around myself.
"You're up early" Jack startles me from the doorway, making me jump a foot in the air. He chuckles as I take a couple deep breaths, walking over to me.
"I didn't hear you come in"
"Some of us are a bit quieter when we know people are still sleeping"
"Sorry" I sheepishly mumble, looking up at him and wrapping my arms around his waist.
"I'm only joking 'Lex, I was already half awake anyway, it's too damn cold to sleep" he wrapped his arms around my shoulders, pressing his cold nose to my neck.
I giggle and pull away "Coffee?" I ask. He makes an affirmative noise and goes to sit down on the sofa, clearly still groggy from the lack of sleep.
I pull out a second mug as the kettle boils, making us both coffee and bringing it over to where Jack is sitting; I curl up at his side and he wraps one arm around me, the other holding the mug. We sit in silence for a while, drinking the coffee and adjusting to being awake.
"I didn't ask, why are you up so early?" Jack asks, braking the silence.
"Same as you, too cold" I look up at him, flashing him a smile, then looking back at the half empty mug "I was too hot last night so I threw off my covers, someone must've picked them up because they weren't there this morning." Jack chuckles, pulling me a bit closer into his side and rubbing my arm.
Finishing his coffee Jack sets his mug down on the small table in front of us, I follow suit, taking his now free hand in both of mine. I run my fingers over the callouses on his fingertips, built up over years of playing guitar, tracing every line and contour, completely losing myself in the motions. Jack nuzzles his nose into my hair, resting his cheek on my head, watching me, occasionally kissing the top of my head or closing his fingers around my hand.
It's not long before the rest of the guys start filtering into the kitchen, and then the lounge, flopping down on the couches, and when those are full, grabbing some cushions to sit on on the floor. I scoot over so I'm sat over Jack's lap, body on one side, feet on the other, so there's more room for other people on the couch, but there just isn't enough room for everyone to get a place.
It seems to have been unanimously and silently decided that today will be a non-day, with half the guys nursing a hangover from the night before and the other half feeling lazy we set about what movie to put on first. We take a vote and it only barely wins in favour of a new thriller that just came out- I'm not particularly fussed about what we watch but Jack seemed excited for it so I voted what he chose. Rian, Matt, and a couple of the crew guys groan and start making their way back to the bunks, heads far too pounding from last night to be watching it; the rest of us have a bit of a giggle about it, having taken it easy last night, and rearrange on the sofa so now everyone has a spot.
Jack's POV
A few movies in I started to tune out, I think everyone did- movie days are great in theory but I just don't have the attention span for it. I've been idly playing with Alex's hair instead for the last half hour or so, cherishing how he leans back into me when I scratch in just the right places, kinda like a dog I think to myself, letting out a giggle. Alex gives me a puzzled look, I just shake my head and kiss his forehead, looking back up at the TV to see if I can get back into the film, luckily Zach saves me.
"Right guys, this has been great but I can't watch any more films for like, a week" he says getting up from his spot on the couch, joints popping as he stretches. We all groan at the sound but follow suit, stretching out of the positions we've been sat in for the last who-knows-how-many hours.
My stomach rumbles loudly as I remember I haven't eaten anything yet, and neither has Alex, or, I assume, most of the guys "Who wants pizza?" I ask "I'm thinking about ordering some." At the mention of pizza the few remaining guys who hadn't joined us from the bunks came out, and I grab the laptop from the table while we all start deciding what to get.
One ridiculously large order later we all divvy up the respective pizzas and retreat to our own areas of the bus, having well and truly timed out our social timers for the day. Me and Alex settle into my bunk, sat cross legged on either end, heads slightly ducked to fit in, with the open pizza box set in between us.
We eat the first couple slices in silence, much like the coffee this morning, and then Alex starts off on a story he'd completely forgotten about Rian last night. He sets his pizza slice down, fully engrossed in telling the story, scooting over to my side of the bunk to lie down next to me; I pull the box up onto our laps, one arm around him, the other still going to town on the pizza, laughing along as he finishes up telling me about how Rian shot gun three beers in a row because he just couldn't do it right, spilling most of it down himself.
Uncomfortably full from the greasy pizza, I stand up and take the empty box to the kitchen so we can properly lie down in bed, when I get back Alex has ditched the hoodie and gotten under the covers instead. I take mine off too and scoot in next to him, wrapping him up in my arms.
"Wanna listen to some music?" he half-yawns, half-asks, shifting around to get his phone out of his pocket. I reach up to the little shelf in my bunk and grab my earphones, handing them to Alex.
"Anything specific?" I ask as he plugs them in.
"I didn't have anything in mind, do you?" I shake my head, pressing a kiss to his forehead. He hands me one of the earphones as he puts the other one in his ear. We lie back a bit more and get comfy, becoming a tangle of arms and legs while he hits shuffle on a playlist. I can feel the vibrations of him humming along against my chest, I lie my head back and look at the top of the bunk, encompassed in a shell of warm happiness.
I slowly trail my hand up and down his back as I feel him getting more and more relaxed against me, it's 11:00 P.M now, which is normally still relatively early for us, but having been awake since 7:00 A.M it felt much later, and warranted feeling so tired.
"'S okay if I sleep here tonight?" Alex mumbled, in a way that made me think even if I said no he'd already be asleep by the time I answered "Still dunno where my covers are."
I smiled and peppered the top of his head with kisses "Of course 'Lex."
"Night Jack."
I took the phone out of his pocket and paused the music, trying to put it on charge with the hand that wasn't under his head but giving up and placing it on the shelf instead. Kissing his forehead once more for good measure I settled back and shut my eyes "Night Alex."

He pulled the curtain back, letting some light into the dimly lit room, to reveal a spider, quite a large one for his liking. He jumped back, panic flooding his body and squealed quietly, though still grabbing his boyfriends attention. “What is it?” asked Alex, raising his eyebrows questioningly. “Spider, please kill it,” trembled Oliver, stepping 8 steps back from the window, his palms sweaty. Alex put down his book, giggling at his boyfriend and grabbing one of the unused plastic cups from the table that he brought out earlier, forgetting to actually pour his juice in. “What are you so afraid of? It’s just a little spider,” cooed Alex, placing the cup over the furry eight legged creature, slipping a leaflet underneath and making his way over to Oliver. “Alex! Get the Fuck away from me with that, kill it! What the fuck, Alex!” Rambled Oliver nervously, backing up to the wall. “It’s just a lil SPIDER ’m not gonna HURT him he’s so cuuuuute,” giggled Alex, rubbing his finger against the cup, his eyes twinkling at the fascinating insect. He looked at his trembling boyfriend and laughed making his way to the door and letting the little spider out, squealing a quick goodbye at the creature. “You’re such a softie,” giggled alex, kissing the top of Oliver’s head, his lips tickled by his soft black hair. “Am not,” sulked Oli, slumping down on the sofa he was now sat in and pouting, his arms crossed over his chest.
@s2dvd2 basically co wrote this with me so most of the credit goes to him <33

Troublemaker
Tumblr media
Title: Troublemaker Chapter: One-Shot Pairing: Gryffindor!Alex/OC Rating: T Fic Summary: Alex is one of Gryffindor’s most famous troublemakers, but a shy Hufflepuff is the reason for this. Author’s Notes: Inspired by @ylove-bandaesthetics moodboard for Gryffindor!Alex. This is my favorite one I’ve written for these moodboards. I made the cover myself.
“GASKARTH YOU GET BACK HERE THIS INSTANT!” the voice of McGonagall echoed through the corridor.
A flash of red and caramel brown was all the other students could see.
“Oh Merlin, what did Gaskarth do this time?” Mercy asked rolling her eyes.
“Honestly, it’s like he’s competing with the Weasley Twins to put McGonagall in her grave”, Brianne said.
Alexander William Gaskarth was one of the biggest pranksters of Gryffindor house, along with Weasley Twins.
Anna thought his pranks were funny and Alex was quite cute in her opinion.
As Alex rounded the corner, he saw the three girls standing there talking. He ran a hand through his hair and calmly walked up to them. “Hello ladies”, he said with his famous smirk. Alex came to stand behind Anna, his hands resting on her waist. Alex leaned his hip against the stone wall.
Anna was facing away from Alex, so he couldn’t see her blush.
His chest was pressed into her back and she could feel his head nearly resting on hers.
“What kind of trouble did you get yourself into this time?” Mercy asked him.
“Only the best kind”, he said giving her a wink.
“GASKARTH!”
“Sorry ladies. Gotta go”, he said, “I’ll see you later”. He leaned down and pressed a kiss to Anna’s cheek before running off.
McGonagall rushed past them as Anna tried to calm her racing heart.
“What was that all about?” Mercy asked her friend.
“I don’t know”, Anna said feeling her inflamed cheeks.
“It must’ve been something, because Gaskarth had his hands all over you”, Brianne said.
Anna blushed even more. “His hands weren’t all over me”, Anna argued.
“Oh calm down, Anna. We were just teasing”, Mercy told her.
Anna didn’t understand why Alex had chosen her. She was a shy, quiet Hufflepuff and he was a rambunctious and mischievous Gryffindor.
The pranks and shenanigans continued throughout the week and it was the talk of Hogwarts.
Rumor had it that he had even recruited the Weasley Twins to help him pull off his more elaborate pranks.
The last prank to happen that week was the most elaborate of all.
They were all seated in the Great Hall during dinner when all the torches went out, only leaving the candles hovering near the ceiling glowing.
Golden glitter started falling from the ceiling.
Anna looked up and smiled holding her hand out.
The glitter was in the shape of small lions and badgers.
Everyone, including Anna, was confused by this.
The banners hanging over each of the tables transformed into a mixture of the Gryffindor and Hufflepuff houses. Finally fireworks started going off and one of them flew over to Anna.
It landed in her hand. It was in the form of a small lion. The lion nuzzled her hand as another flew over her. This one was in the form of a badger. The lion walked over to the badger and wrapped its tail around it as the badger buried itself in its mane.
Anna heard a throat clear behind her. She turned around and saw Alex standing there.
The lion crawled up her arm and jumped onto Alex’s shoulder as the badger did the same to Anna.
Alex held out his hand and helped her up.
“Did you do this?” she asked him.
Alex nodded.
“Why?” she asked.
“Why not?” he countered.
“But why me? You could have your pick of any girl here”.
Alex smiled and brushed some hair behind her ear. “You are the girl I want. You’re the sweetest girl I’ve ever met. So what do you say? You wanna be my honey badger?”
Anna giggled and shook her head. She wrapped her arms around his neck and said, “Never call me that again and it’s a deal”.
Alex leaned down and pressed his lips to hers.
Both Alex and Anna’s friends cheered for them.
McGonagall stood up to call order back to the Great Hall, but Dumbledore grabbed her arm. “Headmaster…” McGonagall said.
“Let them have their moment”, he said. As Alex and Anna continued to kiss, Dumbledore sighed, “Ah, young love”.

I Can't Believe You've Done This
You’ve been leading up to this day for awhile now. Starting arguments with him, accusing him of cheating, threatening to smash his guitar. Everything I did finally made Alex snap.
“I can’t believe you would accuse me of fucking cheating! Where did you even hear that from?! The fans? My ex? Jack? Zack? Rian? Please tell me who told you this fucking bullshit, Y/N!” Alex raged. His eyes were as wide as the moon and his fists were flying around frantically.
“I can’t tell you! All I know is that you cheated on me! Don’t lie because I know you did! I’ve seen pictures!” You lied for the millionth time that night.
“If you have pictures why don’t you show me them?” Alex crossed his arms and legs, leaning against the bedroom door frame.
“No,” you paused, thinking of a quick lie in your head, “I obviously deleted them. Why would I want to see them on my phone?”
“For proof?” Alex stated matter-of-factly. You rolled your eyes, sitting up from your spot on the bed.
The fight droned on and on. Alex going on and on about how he didn’t cheat and you pretending to be in denial. You started to feel guilty, but then suddenly realized that this was going to be great.
“I can’t take this anymore, Y/N! Why do you keep thinking I cheated on you! I love you for fuck sake! Why? Just tell me why? If you don’t I’m gonna fucking leave! I’m done.” Alex threatened.
You fell silent. You wanted him to leave, but you knew that he’d obviously come back. You leaned against the kitchen counter picking ag your nails. Alex was standing in front of and you didn’t dare look up at him. You knew if you did you’d cave in and forget about the whole plan.
“Fine. Play that game. I don’t care. I’m leaving, don’t expect me to come back soon.”
Hours have passed and your boyfriend still wasn’t back. The next part of your plan was coming up. The horrible part, but you knew that it would be totally worth it.
Suddenly the front door opened and you sit still in your spot. You waited for Alex to come in the living room to start up the fight again.
“Are you-” he started, but you interrupted.
“Did you have fun with your side chicks?” You spat.
“Are you fucking serious?! Fuck you, Y/N, fuck you! I can’t deal with this shit! I knew I shouldn’t have broke up with my ex to be with you!” Alex roared. His sudden tone in voice made you jump. What he said hurt, but that just made the plan go smoother.
“No, fuck you, Alex!” You walked to Alex’s studio calmly, with him on your heels.
“What the fuck are you doing?” Alex questioned cautiously as you picked up one of the guitars. You walked outside with Alex still following you.
“You better not do anything stupid, Y/N.” He warned. And he kept warning.
“I can’t believe you’d cheat on me, Alex. You’re such an asshole. You know, when I first met you I thought you’d never do anything to hurt me, but obviously I was completely wrong.”
“Please, don’t break my guitar. You know that was expensive and you know that’s my baby.” Alex whined.
“Too fucking bad.” You said as you slammed his guitar against the grey pavement. You smashed it multiple times. Taking out all your nonexistent anger. When you were done you looked at Alex. His eyes overflowed with tears. Probably tears of anger and frustration. You felt horrible.
You watched as Alex ran to his guitar that was now in pieces.
“Well you wanna know something? When I first met you I didn’t know you were fucking batshit crazy!” Alex raised his voice to the point where it hurt him, you could tell.
Alex pushed passed you, pissed. You stood there trying not to laugh.
“Baby, please I’m sorry. Please forgive me. You know I didn’t mean it.” You stifled a laugh.
“Why are you laughing? You just smashed my fucking guitar? Are you stupid?!”
“I’m sorry.”
“Why the fuck did you do that?! You know what we’re through. That was my favorite fucking guitar. You know it meant everything to me!” Alex wasn’t even Alex anymore. He was this raging monster that didn’t know what to do with himself. You were quite afraid actually.
Alex walked out the door and you ran after him laughing.
“Alex, baby, please.” You cried.
“What?”
You paused, contemplating what to say next and you finally decided.
“Welcome to the prank wars!” You laughed, wrapping your arms around Alex. He just stood there, looking at you with no emotion.
“Did you just smash my guitar for a prank?” He asked, calmly. You shook your head and guided him through the house to the garage. In there was his real guitar.
“I can’t believe you just fucking did that.” Alex said while cradling his precious guitar.

All Time Low: Jack Barakat
JACK
'Dude are you okay? What's wrong? Are you feeling ill?' Alex asks, firing off question after question aimed at me from the passenger seat of my car.
Had my actions really been that noticeable? There was something wrong with me, I was conflicted about my feelings for one of my best friends. On the one hand, I wanted to confess, but on the other hand, I didn't want to ruin a good friendship. y/n l/n had been my best friend for over twenty years, I was in love with them, but with my infamous reputation was I really capable of love?
'I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say you're thinking about y/n, and not just about the housewarming, but maybe how you're finally ready to confess your feelings,' Alex speaks up since I was being silent.
I move my eyes from the road to Alex, 'what do I do?'
He grins, 'why the sudden urge?'
I sigh loudly, 'it's stupid. We both went to a family friends party the other week and y/n looked drop-dead gorgeous. Lots of men had their eyes on y/n and I was jealous. From that night I swore I'd be the only man romantically in y/n's life. They stayed by my side the whole night because the attention made them uncomfortable.'
Alex hums to himself, 'dude I've never seen you this lovestruck before. If I was you I'd tell y/n how I feel. Trust your gut, do it tonight.'
I was still conflicted as we pull up outside y/n's new home. Alex goes ahead of me leaving me to compose myself. I pick up my phone and smile at my lock screen because y/n had taken my phone the other week and changed the lock screen to be a goofy photo of them. Little things we did when together had people assuming we were together and neither of us denied it. I needed to find out if y/n's feelings were mutual.
Y/N
'Lisa can I tell you something in private?' you ask your close friend, and Alex's wife who'd come over early to help you set up.
You'd met Lisa through Alex and the two of you clicked, pretty much inseparable when together, the two of you told each other everything. She jumps up onto the counter nearest to you.
'You can tell me anything y/n?' she answers.
You lean in towards her just in case anyone was eavesdropping and keep your voice low, 'the other week Jack and I went to a party and I don't know what overcame me but I found myself thinking about him as more than just friends. I've liked him for a while but that night cemented my true feelings. A lot of guys were eyeing me up and Jack shielded me from them.'
Lisa giggles, 'you have it bad. The two of you would be perfect together, you know each other, every dirty and dark little secret. Plus you can't deny that the two of you act like a couple in public. You two are the most oblivious people any of us know.'
You feel your cheeks burn at Lisa's accusations and observations. You and Jack weren't subtle, but you put it down all these years to just being really close friends. Maybe Jack had similar feelings, Lisa had pretty much told you so. Would this ruin your friendship? You had a lot to think over and a lot of drinks to help you work up some courage.
'The party can finally begin!' Alex calls out cheerfully, entering the kitchen.
Lisa rolls her eyes and gets off the counter, 'the party began when I arrived Mr Gaskarth,' she snorts.
Alex pouts like a child as Lisa pushes past him playfully. You walk over to your friend and hug him, 'ignore her Alex.'
Alex hugs you back, 'this is why you're my favourite y/n.'
Jack clears his throat behind Alex, 'I thought I was your favourite.'
Alex jumps a little and pulls away from you, 'dude one day you're going to give me a heart attack. y/n is now my number one.'
Alex reaches around you and grabs a beer from the cooler on top of the counter, pops the cap, and leaves the kitchen to find his wife, leaving you and Jack alone.
'Welcome to my humble abode Mr Barakat, make yourself at home.'
Jack smiles, 'oh you're going to regret that invite y/n. I'll have myself a spare key before the end of the party.'
You laugh, 'challenge accepted.'
TIME SKIP
JACK
It was getting late, quite a few drinks had been drunk and jokes had been shared. Alex suggested a game of truth or dare spin the bottle and like the big kids we all were, we said yes. Alex, Lisa, Rian, Zack, a couple of close friends and y/n sit down in the lounge while I sit down opposite y/n. We made the rule that if you refused to answer the truth you had to take a shot.
It didn't take people too long to refuse to answer truths, so shots were taken and even my head was starting to feel groggy, but I managed to keep my eyes on y/n the whole time while they never took their eyes off me.
After a shot, Rian spins the bottle and it lands on y/n who chooses dare. Rian rubs his hands together, sharing a look with the others around the circle like they were all in on something.
'y/n I dare you to kiss the person you have a crush on,' Rian states, words a little slurred.
y/n nods their head and gets up on their knees before leaning over the bottle in the middle and crashes their lips down on mine without any hesitation, taking not only me by surprise but the whole circle. I kiss y/n back, holding their chin in place not wanting to lose the taste of their lips, while our friends erupt into cheers around us.
Once y/n pulls away and sits back down in their spot I take a deep breath, 'y/n will you go out with me?'
y/n nods, 'yes I will.'
More cheers and congratulations erupt in the circle. I guess I had nothing to worry about, y/n felt the same way and had said yes to dating me. The game continues, before y/n excuses themselves and I follow after them into the kitchen.
y/n holds their hand out to me, and in their palm is a spare key, 'you won the challenge, Jack.'
I throw my head back and laugh, 'and I got the best prize of them all.'
y/n throws their arms around my shoulder and kisses me again, this was a feeling I could get very used to as I kiss them back. When everyone sobered up y/n and I would receive hell off our friends for taking out sweet time getting together.

“I’m not pissed. I’m Hurt.” - A Student!Luke Hemmings Imagine
41. “I’m not pissed. I’m hurt.”
Warnings: Like 2 swear words?
Requested: No
Tumblr media
(Y/N) knew the minute she met Luke Hemmings that she was she in danger. That her heart was in danger. Luke was 1/4th of the most popular people in their college, the other three being Calum, Michael and Ashton they were sophomores.
(Y/N) had enrolled in their college , on her first day she caught the eye of the curly haired blonde. She didn't notice at first, focusing on getting the best possible grade for her courses. Always with her head buried in the books she never noticed the striking blue eyes watching her from afar, until one day they weren't staring from afar.
It was almost a full two months (Y/N) hummed a tune under her breath as she strolled through the rows of books in the school library, heading towards her usual table at the far corner, tucked away from the view of everyone else. She liked it like that, in her own bubble with her earphones in and books spread around her. Some days she just melted away, so soaked up in her own world that she didn't connect to the world actually happening around her.
She was sitting in one of the plush leather chairs at her table, the hood of her maroon hoodie pulled up over her head, earphones in and her nose stuck in a book about Greek mythology when she felt a shift from next to her. She looked up from her book to see the Luke Hemmings watching her with a smile. His lips moved, the smile still at the edges of his lips. (Y/N) stared at him, her eyes blinking every few seconds, the voice of Alex Gaskarth still blasting through her ears.
Luke raised an eyebrow at her making (Y/N) blush as she yanked out her earphone. A ungraceful 'Huh?' tumbling out of her lips. A chuckle came from Luke as he turned more in his eat to face her. "I said; Hi, I'm Luke." (Y/N) blinked again before nodding at him. "Okay?..I'm (Y/N)"
The confusion mixing through (Y/N)'s head was giving her a head ache. The four Aussies were known for only associating themselves with the best people at the school, the rich, the jocks and the cheerleaders . (Y/N) certainly didn't fall into any of those categories. She was an average person, she liked it that way. "What'cha reading?" He asked leaning closer. "Oh, it's the story of Persephone and Hades?" Luke nodded eyeing the book. "Greek Mythology right? Thought I seen you coming out of Professor Nelsons class. Freshman?" (Y/N)'s head shot to stare at him, eyebrows drawn together. "Stalker much?!" Her eyes widened, the words tumbling out of her mouth before she could stop them. Now it was Luke who was blushing, his mouth opening and closing. "No! No - I just- You...I had class across the hall with Mrs Acaill and couldn't help but notice how pretty you were through the glass in the door when your class was coming out! I'm not a stalker!"
"Well, you watched coming out of class and now you're lurking around me in the library and you know I'm a freshman...seems like a stalker to me." She teased as he blushed again. "I just want to get to know you is all." Luke flashed a charming smile, (Y/N) scoffed as she pulled her book into her lap again, getting comfortable in her chair. "Sure you do."
Luke pushed his chair against hers his head almost leaning on her shoulder as he peeked at the book. "So tell me about this Stephanie chick." "Persephone." (Y/N) corrected as she started to tell him the story of how Hades kidnapped her.
This carried on for months, Luke would join her in her little corner of the Library, sometime just keeping her company, other times annoying her to the point where she gave up working. Today was one of those days.
He had closed over her book, raising it above his head, laughing as she reached up trying to grab it from him. "Luke! Stop being an ass!" She groaned as she looked down at her open phone seeing the time. "I have a class Luke! I need to go!" (Y/N) groaned jumping for the book once more, Luke tiptoed keeping it further away. "Kiss me and I'll give it to you." He joked. (Y/N) groaned grabbing the back of his neck, pulling him down and planting a soft kiss on the corner of his cheek, narrowly missing his lips.
While he stood in shock (Y/N) grabbed her books, stuffing them in her bags and running off, her professor was an asshole about being late. Luke stood in shock touching his cheek, not expecting her to actually kiss him.
Shaking himself Luke walked around Campus until he came across his friends sitting on a picnic table in the courtyard. "Hey." He clapped Calum on the shoulder as he sat. "Where you been?" Ash asked as he took a sip of his water. "Uh, no where just spaced a bit and took a walk." Luke grumbled, picking at a splintered piece of wood on the table. He hated that he couldn't tell his friends the truth, his eyes drifting to the other people at the table who called themselves his friends, truthfully he didn't know why he stayed with them. The respect he got from being friends with them made him feel good but he wasn't blind, he knew they were assholes and stuck up. If he ever told them about (Y/N) they'd laugh in his face.
Time passes fast as they sat there chatting with no real topic of conversation. A small group was passing them, in the centre stood (Y/N). She was laughing a genuine laugh, her head thrown back at something a guy with dark hair and slight scruff said to her. Luke's stomach clenched watching her act so freely in public with a guy that wasn't him. If he would just get over his pride that could be him.
"It must be sad." A girl called Candy spoke up, Luke was 100% sure that wasn't her real name but it was what everyone called her. "To only be known by a few, insignificant people." Her eyes pierced on the group that was around (Y/N). They stopped at a bench on the other side of the courtyard. (Y/N) looked around, her eyes meeting Luke's a smile on her face before she looked away, the dark haired guy catching her attention again. "They seem happy." Ashton voiced his opinion. Watching as they goofed around. Candy scoffed, muttering something under her breath.
Luke watched as (Y/N) was tossed over the guys shoulder as he grabbed her book bag from the ground while she yelled in protest as the group started to walk in the direction of the coffee shop on the campus. "I'm going to get a coffee." He didn't wait for anyone to reply before he took of towards the coffee shop.
It was a small shop but bright, there was enough seats to sit about 20 people at a time, the front was one large window, the inside was painted a soft yellow, different colours and shapes of chairs made up the furniture. The coffee bar was a rustic looking one, painted the same soft yellow as the walls. Luke looked around seeing the group sitting in the far corner, (Y/N) was standing at the counter getting their order in.
Striding up next to her Luke looked around before stopping next to her. "Didn't know you had a boyfriend." He cut to the chase. (Y/N) looked up startled. She was almost 100% confident this was the first time she had spoken to Luke outside the library. "Boyf- What? I don't."  She stuttered. "Good, I'm taking you out tonight. Be ready for eight." He smirked as she blushed before he walked out, almost bumping into Ashton. "Where's your coffee?" He asked staring at Luke’s empty hand. "Changed my mind." Luke grinned walking swiftly away with a smile flush on his face.
(Y/N) paced, black DM's tapping the ground  as she stared at the coffee shop/bookstore Luke had told her to meet him at. She went for a casual look, a dark brown coloured sweater tucked into ripped back jeans that has rips in the thigh of her right leg and both knees. She could see Luke sitting in the back through the window. He was wearing a loose white button down with black jeans, his black boots tapping the ground as he stared at the package sitting in his book bag next to him.
The bell above the door of the café shook making him look up, a smile coming to his cheeks as (Y/N) made her way towards him, a small smile on her face. "Hey." She spoke softly as she sat down. "How are you?" Luke grinned as two mugs of hot chocolate was laid out in front of him, he nodded his head in thanks at the waitress. "I'm good, you find the place okay?" (Y/N) nodded as she settled into her chair.
The conversation flowed effortlessly between them, like they had been friends forever. They had moved on to their second cup of coco when Luke chewed on his lip, about to reach into his bag when the bell disturbed him. His heart clenched as his eyes met Candy’s and three other cheerleaders. "Luke!" Candy squealed walking through the chairs to reach him. Her steps faltering as she looked at (Y/N). "Oh....how cute. Is this a date?" (Y/N) blushed looking at Luke. Her small smile on her face quickly dropping as she noticed the change in his demeanour.
Gone was the soft, funny Luke from seconds ago. This Luke has a hard look on his face and had turned his body away from her. "As if Candy." His cold voice shook (Y/N) to the core. "She's doing an assignment for me." He lied through his teeth. (Y/N) sat in shock, her fingers digging into the wool of her sweater.
Anger coursed through her veins as she stood up, throwing her hand bag over shoulder. "As if I would do anything for a fake prick like you." She spat coldly towards Luke. Turning to Candy who was watching (Y/N) with wide eyes. (Y/N) raised an eyebrow at her, she was blocking the only way out. "Move, please?!" Still trying to keep some manners (Y/N) walked swiftly past Candy as she stepped aside, the other three cheerleaders watching in shock.
"Fuck!" Luke whispered running his hand down his face, staring at the empty chair across from him. "I like her." Candy giggled sitting in said seat. "She has spark! She'd make a good cheerleader!" Luke stared at Candy with a blank expression, pushing out of his seat he paid for the drinks for walking out. (Y/N) no where in sight.
-
It had been a week since Luke seen (Y/N), everyday he went to her spot in the library only for it to be empty, to the stage where a few specs of dust were becoming visible on the desk.
He had texted her at least thirty times in the past week, not getting a single response. He had almost given up hope when he caught sight of a familiar maroon hoodie walking past him in the hall, without hesitation his hand reached out grabbing her elbow dragging her into a empty classroom.
She started up at him with a cold expression, her eyes staring blankly into his. "Can I help you?" She asked pulling her hood down, showing a messy bun with a pen stuck through it. "I have things to do." She snapped.
A crack of thunder shook Luke from his silence, eyes flickering to the window that was now covered in raindrops. "I'm so sorry. I know it was a shitty thing to do, I should have just told Candy about us an-" (Y/N) raised a hand to stop him from talking. "Us? What 'us' Luke? There was never an 'Us'"
Her words sent splitters of ice shooting through his veins straight to his heart, if he had of let himself, Luke was sure he would have collapsed to his knees. "Don't say that..we were getting along so good. I know you're pissed but-" She cut him off again with a sarcastic laugh. "Pissed?! I'm not pissed Luke! I'm hurt! You hurt me Luke!" She stopped to glance out the window. "You made me feel so...small and pathetic. Like I wasn't good enough for you..for your friends. I won't ever let you make me feel that way again." She pulled her hood up again before reaching for the door handle ripping the door open and walking out.
Luke stood with his hand over his mouth, his heart beating so hard he thought he would have a heart attack. He looked to the door where (Y/N) had just walked out and shook his head before running out the door after her. "(Y/N)!" He yelled down the hall, peoples heads turning towards him. He caught sight of her maroon hoodie pushing out the glass doors onto the courtyard. Running out after her he bumped into Candy. His hands gently moving her aside, eyes still trained on (Y/N) crossing the grass. "(Y/N)!" He yelled again running after her.
His hand caught her elbow again spinning her to look at him, his stomach churned at the bloodshot eyes that met his. Before he could stop himself he pulled her close, pressing his lips against hers. It was a slow but passion filled kiss. The rain still beating down on them making (Y/N)'s hoodie a darker shade of maroon and Luke’s black shirt to cling to his body.
Pulling back he held (Y/N) close, his forehead against hers. "I am so sorry I made you feel like that." He paused to take a deep breath. "You're too good for me. I'm the one who's not good enough for you." He whispered pressing his lips to hers again in a quick kiss. "If you'll let me I'll spend forever making it up to you." He whispered against her lips, a wide smile spread across his lips as (Y/N) nodded, pushing her fingers through his hair to stop it from dripping in his eyes. "I'll forgive you if you kiss me like that again." Luke laughed pressing his lips to hers before remembering the rectangle wrapped in brown paper in his bag. "Hold on-" He quickly reached into his bag, pulling out the package and handing it to her. "You checked it out of the library so much-" (Y/N) opened it to see a copy of her favourite book filled with Greek mythology stories. "I thought I would get you your own." Luke finished as (Y/N) giggled tucking the book to her chest away from the rain. "It's perfect." She whispered pressing a kiss to his cheek as yells and claps came from behind them, Luke tucked (Y/N) into his side, turning to see Michael, Calum and Ashton cheering while the others walked away rolling their eyes.
"I think it's time you met my real friends." Luke grinned, leading (Y/N) towards the people who really mattered in his life, now adding her to that list.

every weekend in the winter you’d be wearing my hoodie
hello i am back with more t-shirt ‘verse jalex because i cannot seem to write anything else and also they bring me just IMMENSE joy. so much happiness
this is straight fluff it’s just a shot of fluff direct to the veins it does not pass go or collect two hundred dollars. it’s fluff. also, it was written for the prompt “it’s hand-holding season” but i cannot figure out if (a) i lost the original person who sent the prompt or (b) i just saved the prompt because i liked it and ended up unintentionally prompting myself ???? but either way here it is
title is from nina by ed sheeran great song :)))
(part 1) (part 2)
read it here on ao3
It’s cold outside as the clock flips from 11:59 on November 30th to 12:00 on December 1st, but not cold enough to stop Jack from saying, “Let’s go for a walk.”
Alex looks away from the commercial currently muted on the TV, giving Jack a patented are-you-serious look. “Right now?”
“Yes, right now. It’s December! Happy December! Let’s go for a walk.” Jack gives him a cheesy smile. Alex is not yet immune to Jack’s cheesy smiles and they both know it.
Not for lack of trying, though. “Jack, it’s cold out.”
“It’s only, like…” Jack clicks his phone screen on. “Forty-five degrees. That’s nothing.”
“It’s not nothing, it’s thirteen degrees above freezing.”
Jack rolls his eyes. “Don’t be boring. Be interesting. Be an interesting boy. Come take a walk with me. I’m going with or without you.” He holds a fist up to his mouth as if carrying an imaginary microphone and croons, “With or without youuuuu…”
Alex huffs. “Fine,” he says, smiling and shaking his head. “You’re lucky I love you or I wouldn’t do this shit for you, you know.”
“Oh, I know,” Jack says, and he does know. He knows he’s lucky Alex loves him. Anyone would be. Jack has never been the type to count his blessings, but he thinks having Alex in his life means he just might start. There must be someone he can thank. Alex is too perfect to just have swept into his life on good fortune.
They grab sweatshirts — Alex takes one of Jack’s and Jack takes Alex’s — and head out the door, down the stairwell, and outside. Jack braces himself for a chilly breeze, but there isn’t one. In fact, it’s kind of nice, actually.
Apart from the way it’s forty-five degrees out. Other than that, it’s nice.
The air is cold on Jack’s face and his hands. He pulls the sleeves of Alex’s hoodie over his fingers, but he can still feel an icy chill settling itself into his bones. Well. Whatever. Sometimes sacrifices have to be made.
Jack looks over at Alex and smiles, almost without meaning to. “Smells like December,” Alex says, before Jack can open his mouth. “Don’t you think?”
Jack sniffs the air, but it just smells cold. That’s probably what December smells like, he supposes. “Yeah.”
“I bet it’ll snow soon,” Alex muses, arms crossed over his chest. “It smells like it’s gonna snow.”
“What does that even mean? You can’t smell that kind of thing.”
“Yeah, it’s like metallic, kind of?”
“Snow smells like metal?” Jack raises an unimpressed eyebrow. “I thought you were supposed to a be a teacher.”
Alex smacks Jack’s shoulder. “I am a teacher, you moron. Show me some respect.”
“No way. I’ve never had a single teacher worthy of respect.”
“What? Not one? Come on.”
Alex sounds genuinely distressed by the prospect of Jack’s academic experience being one terrible educator after another, and Jack caves. “Fine. I’ve had a few.” He steals a glance at Alex. “All my music teachers have been good.”
Alex smiles widely. “You’re just saying that.”
“Please, am I the kind of person who would ‘just say that’?”
“No,” Alex admits, shifting closer to Jack with his next step. “I’m happy to hear that. Everyone should have a few good teachers.”
“You’re changing lives, Alex Gaskarth,” Jack says airily, reaching with one hand to pat Alex’s cheek, which is partially obscured by the hood of the stolen sweater. “All your students are going to grow up to be washed-up pencil pushers with hot boyfriends.” Alex laughs. “Does it feel good?”
“Feels great,” Alex says. His shoulder brushes Jack’s as he swings his arm by his side. “Why the fuck aren’t we holding hands?”
“It’s cold.”
Alex snorts, which sounds suspiciously like I told you so, but instead he says, “Nuh-uh. It’s December. It’s hand-holding season. If we’re ever going to hold hands, it’s gotta be now.”
Jack huffs, like it’s some huge chore to hold hands with Alex, and pulls the sleeve on his right arm up enough to link his fingers with Alex’s. “No wonder you became a teacher. You’re the bossiest person I’ve ever met.”
Alex laughs. His laugh fills so much space. Jack would love to record it and make it his alarm sound, would love to wake up to Alex’s laugh every morning. “If you didn’t want to be cold, you shouldn’t have gone on a walk. In forty-five degree weather.” Aaaand there it is.
“It’s nice,” Jack insists. It is nice. Even with the chill, and even though their surroundings are mostly just more apartment buildings, and even though the artificial light from the street lamps is washing the world in a hideous shade of yellow, and even though every step they take away from Jack’s place means another step they’ll have to take back towards it when they finally turn around, and even though it’s forty-five degrees out…
To hold hands and walk with Alex, anything would be nice.
“Yeah,” Alex sighs, and he doesn’t even sound disappointed about it.
They’re walking to the school, Jack realizes a few minutes later, and sure enough a couple minutes after that the familiar building comes into view. Jack squeezes Alex’s hand. “Are you allowed to be here on weekends? Like, does that break some kind of teacher code?”
“Yes,” Alex says seriously. “We take the teacher code very seriously. If you’re caught at school during non-school hours you get taken to teacher prison.”
“Ooh, a rule-breaker,” Jack says, grinning. “Very exciting. Lucky for you, I’m amazing at sneaking around school buildings, since it is about ninety percent of what I did in high school.”
“Shocker.” There’s a smile in Alex’s voice. He lifts their conjoined hands to point at the main double doors. “Should we try them? Just in case?”
“You are such a bad influence,” Jack admonishes as they make for the entrance. “What if an alarm goes off?”
“Then we’ll have a story to tell.” And with that Alex marches them up the stairs to the doors and pulls on the handle with his free one.
It’s locked. Obviously.
Nothing happens, so they try the other door, and nothing happens with that one either. Defeated, they both step back. Jack studies the door, trying to see past it, but the halls inside are darkened and the light from the lamps outside reflect too much off the glass to see anything beyond. “I can’t believe I’ve still never been inside.”
“Someday,” Alex says. It holds a lot of promise, that someday. Jack is in love with the idea of a someday, a million somedays with Alex. Of not knowing when someday will be, but knowing that they’ll be together long enough to eventually reach it.
“Someday,” he agrees, looking over at Alex just as Alex looks at him. At this angle, his face is hidden in shadows, so Jack leans closer, smiling like he’s never learned to do anything else. Alex obligingly meets him halfway for a kiss, sending warmth all the way through Jack’s body and momentarily lifting the chill from under his skin.
“We can make out in the music room, it’ll be just like tenth grade,” Jack says, smirking. Alex chuckles, shaking his head.
“I hope it’ll be a little bit better than tenth grade.”
“A little bit.” A lot. A fucking lot. Tenth-grade Jack could never in a million years have dreamt of being so happy right now, with a boyfriend this perfect and amazing. Jack from sophomore year wouldn’t fathom being this in love, enough to be self-sacrificial.
Tenth-grade Jack was a selfish asshole, though, so he wouldn’t have deserved it.
“Seriously,” Alex says quietly, looking not at Jack but through the double doors. “Someday soon. You should meet the other people I work with, the people in my department and everything. It’s a big part of my life, and I — I want you in it.”
Jack’s heart beats extra hard, although by now he’s used to that as a natural byproduct of being in a relationship with Alex. “I want to meet your co-workers,” he says. “Michael and Calum sucked when I met them, though, so if the rest of them are that bad —”
“Shut up,” Alex says, but he’s laughing, echoey in the small space between them, the doors, and the brick of the building. “You loved Michael and Calum. Anyway, my coworkers are great. You guys will get along.”
“Good.”
“I want to meet your coworkers too.”
“You really don’t.”
“I do!”
“You met Zack already.”
“I haven’t met Luke and Ashton even though you’ve repeatedly told me we’d get along great.”
“I was lying.” Alex makes a disbelieving nose, and Jack smiles despite himself. “Okay, fine. We should figure that out, then.”
Alex hums. “Mm, another time.” He lifts their intertwined hands and loops his arm around Jack, then rests his head against Jack’s shoulder. “You were right. This is nice.”
It’s always nice with you, Jack thinks. He kisses whatever part of Alex’s face he can reach and bites down on a silly smile. “Love you.”
Alex sighs contentedly. They’ll head back in a moment, but Jack is more than happy to stand here and soak up the obvious joy that Alex emanates being somewhere he treasures so much. Even in forty-five degrees, Jack feels warm around Alex, and he suspects that will never change.

Coffee Shop Soundtrack
Olivia,
I know you can’t read this anymore, but thank you. I never would’ve started writing if you never told me that you wanted to read my work. You inspired me to grow as a writer and find my own individual voice. The past few days have been hell. I miss you. I can’t help wondering if I would’ve reached out if you would still be here. The first chaptered fic I ever wrote was based on Coffee Shop Soundtrack and it was for Alex Gaskarth instead. We loved that song and that band so much. I hope you continued to love that song like I do. This is for you.
-Sara
_________________________________________________
Chapter One:
Tonight was one of those nights that you feel alive, I know I did. The autumn leaves fell from the sky and dusted across the vacant street. Lilah grabbed onto my arm and smiled at me. It was her sophomore year at college and somehow she convinced our parents to let me stay with her for the weekend. Even though she lived in the same town as us, she no longer lived at home and I missed her. That didn’t excuse the fact that we were polar opposites though. She was the party all night, sleep all day kind of girl and I wasn’t. One of us had to follow the rules and that was usually me, usually. Tonight I told myself it would be different though. We had gone down the street to a house that belonged to one of the frats on campus and somehow, Lilah got me in. She handed me a cup and told me to try to loosen up, but I was new to the party scene.
I walked around for a while before inevitably making my way outside. I stopped by the curb and watched the streetlight dance across the street. The road seemed so quiet compared to the party happening behind me. I shivered as a breeze ran past me. It brushed my wavy hair behind me and raised goosebumps across my skin.
“Here,” a voice said. I looked up to see a boy in front of me, holding his sweatshirt out to me. I smiled as I accepted it and slipped it on. It was warm and it smelt like cologne. I looked up at his face and observed how he smiled. The way his lips curled up at the corners and the way his eyes looked. He looked kind-hearted and genuine, unlike any of the other guys I had met inside. I thanked him and listened to someone call out into the yard. He turned to the voice and told me he should head in. I nodded and watched as he took off, running back up to the door and slipping inside. I looked down to see that I was in an OBX high school sweatshirt and wondered if he was a high school student like me. I wondered what his name was and how he ended up at this party on this night. Something in my gut told me to watch out for him.
I stumbled a little bit as the drink I was handed clouded my vision. Lilah had to be here somewhere. I didn’t know how to get home without her. I called out her name and looked around, trying to find any trace of her. I felt someone’s arm snake around my waist and tried to get me to dance with them, but I didn’t feel good. I squirmed away, trying my hardest to escape, but it wasn’t working.
“Rafe c’mon,” a familiar voice said. “She isn’t into it. Let her go.”
I spun around to see the stranger from before. I was opening my mouth to say something, but right before I spoke Lilah caught my eye. I called out to her and she made her way over.
“Aw, did you get denied by my little sis, Rafe?” she teased, causing the boy to scoff. “She’s a minor so you might want to be a little more careful next time.”
“It wasn’t for me,” the boy said while rolling his eyes. “It’s for my boy, Top.”
My eyes shot over to the stranger from before. Top. I wondered if that was a nickname and how he got it. I wondered a lot about who he was. I flashed him a small smile before grabbing onto Lilah’s arm and asking if we could go home now. She chuckled at my tipsy state and told me she had to tie up one loose end. I nodded and let go of her arm. I looked down as she left, the logo of the sweatshirt catching my eye.
“Oh… Hey, uh… Top?” I said. His blue eyes stared at me. I began to strip out of his sweatshirt to hand it back to him, but he stopped me. He pulled it back down over my head and smiled at me.
“Keep it for now,” he said. “You might get cold on the way home.”
His words were gentle like his smile. He was a charmer for sure. I wondered how many ladies he had lined up for him back home and I wondered how I would compare to them. You couldn’t help smiling in front of the handsome stranger.
“I’m Olivia,” I said, smiling bashfully at him.
“Topper,” he said. I giggled at his name. It was unusual, yet it fit him so well. I loved it.
There was so much I still wanted to find out about him, but Lilah was on her way back over and I wasn’t even sure I would ever see him again. I waved goodbye as Lilah tugged on my arm, pulling me towards the door. He smiled and waved as I walked out the door. I skipped down the street and breathed in the smell of cologne that radiated off the sweater. Only one thing ran through my mind, Topper.

DILF (Jack Barakat)
Tumblr media
“You look like a DILF,” I smirked, taking a seat in front of the black and blue haired man, catching his attention. I pulled my sunglasses up, entangling them in my hair so they sat atop my head.
“Excuse me?” He asked, pulling off his sunglasses before knitting his eyebrows together in confusion. “DILF?”
“Dad I’d Like to Fuck?” I shrugged, grabbing his drink and taking a sip, making him smirk. “I mean if I hadn’t already.”
“Geez, Violet. How many drinks did you have at the bar?” He asked, grabbing the drink from me, taking a long sip before setting it in front of him.
“Not enough.” I rolled my eyes. “But seriously. I’m surprised no one else was over here hitting on you.”
“Well, you’re doing a pretty good job of it yourself.” He smiled, making me laugh quietly.
“Thanks. I’ve been perfecting it for years.” I smirked. “Don’t we have to get going? You have a show in a bit, don’t you?”
“It can wait. I’m having a very nice time with my purple-haired girlfriend.” He smirked.
“Yo! Let’s go!” Alex called from across the patio, making us groan.
“I guess that means it’s time to go.”
“Damnit.” He muttered, leaning down and placing a rough kiss on my lips.
“You taste like beer. I like it.” I giggled when we pulled apart a moment later.
“Thanks. I picked it myself.” He smiled in return.
“C’mon you lovesick idiots. We have a show to do.”
