Small Introduction:

Hey there! I have done many iterations of this and honestly I just miss it! I hope you all will take the time to read this over as i spent a lot of time on this and it's not fun when people don't read everything.

Plot:

This does go chronologically through Harry Potter's years at Hogwarts and the struggles he deals with as well as his friends and enemies at school. But not only will we be following Harry Potter but some other characters.

My main character, Catalina Thorne, has gone through quite a lot. Not by any means as much as Harry Potter, The Boy Who Lived. But she has dealt with things her classmates and friends could scarcely ever go through. She had to watch her life unfold as a lie and had to lie about the true death of her family. She has to keep a secret of the family safe. The one person she shouldn't trust her secret to is the son of a death eater. But Catalina, the shy sweet innocent girl that she plays, goes and gets a crush on the worst person she can, Draco Malfoy. Can she manage to keep her family secret when her boyfriend's family is one of the darkest wizarding families? Find out!

Rules:

1. Please make sure you know Wizarding World lore and background. I will make a channel for information if anyone has any questions.

2. Sexual activities must happen in a private channel and with the proper procedures. The students can only do this if you are in year 5. Younger years are allowed to do hand holding and kissing and the like.

3. You are allowed to play as many characters as you can control. Just please don't play too many that it's a burden for you.

4. Any ocs are allowed. Just please provide a bio and picture and let it be approved beforehand.

5. Please no fighting for ships. I have set some but if you want to create one, let me know

6. I will need help to make this group as making groups isn't my forte. I'm not great at creating a bots channel. So if you want to help me, please inform me immediately.

7. I would like you all to be semi literate to literate and speak in full sentences. The more details, the better!

8. If you need a refresher course in how to make bots and tulls, let me know. I forgot after a while but once you learn, it's not hard to do!

James Potter is now open for applications.

Before applying, please note that James is:

Lily Potter’s spouse. The two share a son named Harry.

The “mom friend” of the group who often forgets to put their own needs before the needs of their loved ones.

An active Order member with their sights set on eventually taking on a leadership role in the group. Alastor Moody, Alice Longbottom, Frank Longbottom, and Minerva McGonagall are some of the active Order members.

One of four people who can be blamed for the occasional practical joke, prank, or hijinks that interrupts non-serious Order business.

One of the Marauders. Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew make up the rest of the friendship group.

Bolded characters are currently in play as connections in the game.

Where the group has been struggling to find someone who can commit to playing James, the admins are asking that you only apply if you can do the following:

Give a commitment to being active for at least a month and a half. While we don’t expect you to be on every day, we do ask that you try to be on at least one to two times a week to do replies. This means responding to threads and not just replying to text strings so we can move plots involving the Potter family and Marauders forward.

Break our James being the cursed character of the group streak. Our last three James had similar tendencies of joining, posting a bio, posting one reply, then disappearing for weeks at a time, and claiming they would get on eventually just to never return. We understand life happens and are flexible about that as long as you communicate something came up or post stating a hiatus is necessary.

Be open to plotting since several players will happily plot with you! They were very concerned when James wasn’t included on my list of character advertisements that were queued so there will definitely be a warm welcome should you choose to apply. We currently have an Order meeting going on, so it’s a great opportunity to let your James shine.

BIO

Barty was the first and only born child to Bartemius and Adeleine Crouch. His father, constantly more invested in his job rather than his family life, often ignored his son. Though his treatment only worsened after Barty began attending Hogwarts and was sorted into Slytherin. He had done his best to gain attention and love from his father, earning top marks across all of his classes and even going as far as achieving all 12 OWLs.

Desperate for some kind of approval or connection to someone he’d begun to befriend fellow Slytherins. Something which led him to becoming a death eater at the age of 18.

Voldemort saw in him a great opportunity, taking advantage of the hurt Bartemius Snr. had inflicted upon his own son to make his way in. The boy was a bright and talented servant whose loyalty was only rivaled by that of Bellatrix.

Things were going good for him at last, having found himself at home with the Death Eaters and Voldemort. At least until he was arrested in company of Bellatrix, Rabastan and Rodolphus. He was forced to stand trial where his father humiliated him and made an example out of his own son by ignoring his pleas and condemning him to a life sentence in Azkaban.

An entire year was spend in the prison, both physical and mental health deteriorating until his mother, in a last act of love towards his son, helped him escape. She’d begged his father to help her free Barty, which they achieved with polyjuice potion, allowing mother and son to switch places. Adeleine died in Azkaban, bearing Barty’s face and name.

Though there was no happy ending to this story, as once Barty had been freed by his father, he was promptly put under the imperius curse. Their house elf, Winky, was left to take care of him in this state. Often advocating on his behalf to try and give some breaks to the boy from the imprisonment. He went undiscovered for a while, until Berta Jorkins came into the Crouch household unnanounced, discovering Barty. His father put a memory charm on her which gave her brain damage.

During the Quidditch World Cup Barty was able to break free from the curse temporarily, angered at the death eaters that had shown up to cause a scene. When all they had previously done was betray their master. He conjured the dark mark onto the sky, but was rendered unconcious by a stunning spell during the mayhem that ensued afterwards. His father found him once more and put him back under the imperius spell.

Voldemort had found Berta and received the news that Barty was still alive, thus one day after the Quidditch Cup, showing up at the Crouch household. There he liberated Barty and put his father under the imperius curse so he wouldn’t give away their plan.

It was on the dark lord’s orders that Barty captured Alastor Moody and succesfully impersonated him during his time at Hogwarts.

BASICS.

NAME. Alastor Moody AGE. 40 ALUMNI HOUSE. Ravenclaw BLOOD STATUS. Pureblood FACECLAIM. Oscar Isaac

HISTORY.

So he took his high N.E.W.T.s and his grubby-but-untarnished family connections and joined the Auror Department. It was interesting work, but it was still just a job -- until it wasn’t. There was no one big, defining moment that tipped the scales; Alastor just kept doing the work, fighting the necessary fights, learning the necessary magicks (can’t fight the Dark Arts if you don’t know the Dark Arts) and getting through the day. Eventually, he realized that it wasn’t curiosity driving him anymore as much as it was a calling. Not that Alastor considered himself a hero - and he’d snarl at anyone who dared say as much whether to his face or in a Prophet article about his latest arrest. No, there was just a job that needed doing and he was doing it. And doing it, and doing it... He was managing. Dark Wix were being taken down by him and his team, leaving scars along the way. Alastor thought that this was his life.

Until a damn Dark Lord popped out of the woodwork and made everything worse. His job turned into war and the Ministry became a battlefield. He was approached by Albus Dumbledore early on to help start an underground group dedicated to fighting Voldemort - it was the only thing they could do when it was hard to tell friend from foe, even with the people who had sat next to you for years. Alastor is something of an expert in the Dark Arts - not the way dark wizards are, but all Aurors who want to live past their training know them a little and Alastor knew them better than most. Still, no matter how much he learned, he never found himself falling for their allure. People say that all those years digging into the deepest corners of the Dark have made him paranoid, but Alastor would argue that he’s not paranoid, just educated. If more people knew what was really out there, they’d be even twitchier than him.

Maybe that’s why he’s not saying anything about Sirius Black and his little gang of Dark Arts users. Maybe that’s why he’s turning a blind eye, even when it’s right in front of his nose. He’s yet to get directly involved with them - he’d had to learn on his own so maybe it’s a good idea if Black and the others do the same - but he’s not putting a stop to it either, despite what some of the Aurors-turned-Order have to say about it. Alastor’s knowledge helps make him a solid leader for the Order, even if his tactics are a bit unconventional. He might be loud, but he’s just trying to get the members to understand the truth about this war they’re fighting. The energy that all these kids in the Order have is inspiring... but sometimes all they “inspire” in Alastor is the urge to bang his head against a wall for an hour or two. Still, he’s here - he’s fighting. He’ll probably die doing it. He’s not afraid to go... just wants to make sure he’s leaving the battle in capable hands before he does.

CONNECTIONS.

JOHN DAWLISH. The younger Auror thinks he has it all figured out and it’s infuriating. It’s only because of Alastor’s trust in the Longbottoms that he’d even allowed the kid into the ranks. John has a self-righteous sense of justice, which is frustrating when Alastor knows just how much the boy hasn’t seen. John’s appalled by the Dark Arts stuff, of course, but Alastor thinks that maybe he has thing or two to learn from Sirius Black. TED TONKS. Despite what people think about him, Alastor isn’t the kind of bloke who believes everyone should want to fight. He knows that Ted is hesitant to be here, but also gets the reasoning. Alastor may be a pureblood, but he’s a pureblood who has grown to understand more than most that this world just isn’t the same for muggleborns. It’s perfectly acceptable to want to survive - and that sometimes means keeping your head down. MUNDUNGUS FLETCHER. Boy’s gonna get himself killed or thrown in Azkaban - it’s only a matter of time. In fact, Alastor himself has arrested him more than once, but has always managed to get him off with a warning. The perks of being in the Order together, he supposes. Considering everything, Fletch is less of a threat than he lets on. Alastor’s more worried about what the kid will do to himself than to others.

CONNECTIONS.

KINGSLEY SHACKLEBOLT. Partners in career and Order, Kingsley might be the only person Alastor considers a friend - though who knows what the other would say about him. There’s not a lot of people Alastor trusts in this world, but Kinglsey is one of them. They do more together for the Order than even Albus Dumbledore. It’s not easy work, but it’s work that needs done - and Kingsley is the best person for the job. He’s the only one that has the ability to shut Alastor up when he’s angry-yelling at the younger members. CARADOC DEARBORN. One of the few who seems to really have his head screwed-on straight - emphasis on seems. That stoic, ice-veined façade might fool the other kids, but to Alastor it just looks like a powder keg waiting to be primed. Something is going to break past Caradoc’s self-control at some point and when the real him comes out, it’s not going to be pretty. Alastor just hopes he’s there to point the resulting explosion at the Death Eaters where it’ll do some good, rather than at their allies. Although maybe that would help wake some of them up, too! ALASTOR ‘MAD-EYE’ MOODY | LIFE, DEATH, & REBIRTH

Personality:

Alastor Moody is tough, confident, brave, a consummate survivor, as well as an excellent fighter. He has a gruff, surly disposition at many times, with a temper. However, he does have quite the sense of humor once someone is able to pull it out of him. Having encountered many dangerous experiences throughout his career, he was hyper-paranoid and thought of by many as being delusional. Despite his paranoia, Moody was a brave individual. He never hesitated to go up against powerful dark wizards, including Lord Voldemort himself.

Headcanons:

The only ones Alastor was truly able to get close to were: Albus (of course), Nymphadora, Harry, and the entire Weasley family. It would be interesting to see him cultivate those relationships further this new time around. Perhaps he’ll get closer to others now that he’s opened up and lived through his worst fears (or been brought back from).

Since Albus Dumbledore helped to create his magical eye with the Elder Wand, he is able to see under the invisibility cloak. Which, according to the timeline, he doesn’t have yet. It could be interesting to see if Alastor finds a way to get it back.

Working close with the Ministry, Alastor has turned down higher positions within it to stay in the one job he knows how to do perfectly: capture dark witches and wizards.

Family Background:

Ambition. Courage. Resilience. A dictum of all the facets that embodied the Moody family. Their beliefs were traditional, being a Pure-blood house. However, unlike most of those that held purism beliefs, they sought the good in the world and wanted to rise above - by fighting tooth and nail, no matter the cost. Growing up as an only child in a family of renowned Aurors, Alastor underwent a brutal training regime that turned him into a formidable young wizard – with the knowledge of how to snuff out an enemies before he was even sorted into his Hogwarts house. Both of his parents were cold, rather detached, as they fought their down demons and become too occupied to raise a child adorned with love an affection. Thus, Alastor has trouble becoming attached to others. All he wished was to make them proud by making himself to be the greatest Auror of modern times, with his name on all of the Wizarding World for his family to see.

Biography Before 1979:

Determined to excel in magic, Alastor was sorted into the Gryffindor house, to his absolute satisfaction. There, he could be challenged alongside bright minds like his own. And also, live amongst those who followed rather dark endeavors. While many believed that there wasn’t a witch or wizard that went ‘bad’ because of being placed in Slytherin, there were also a sizeable amount from the bronzed eagle house. It gave him rather keen insight as to how some could hold their cards close to their chests. Afterall, as is father often reminded him, in order to catch dark wizards, one had to think like them; infiltrate their minds and actions.

Immediately taken to Charms and Defense Against the Dark Arts, many professors sought to have Alastor in their classes. With many friends and favor of the faculty, Alastor had a bit of an ego. Although, it did not come without weaknesses. Alastor was rather known for his temper – acting out against his classmates. Luckily, if he transfigured a classmate, most chalked it up as a prank. From there, his Hogwarts classmates admired him, adding to Alastor’s lack of humility. He was eager to please and would often practice rather dangerous spell on the edge of Black Lake or the Forbidden Forest, as to hide any practical use of the darker sides of magic. However, he never healed those battle wounds, wanting the reminders of how the spells worked and pain they inflicted.

After getting outstanding scores with at least five ‘Exceeds Expectations’ marks N.E.W.T. subjects, it wasn’t difficult for Alastor to declare his career and ultimate path in life. It had been written for him since he was born. Post-graduation, Alastor followed in his family’s footsteps by completing the rigorous training to become an Auror. Unlike the others struggling beside him in the program, Alastor shined brightly, reveling in finally becoming the one occupation that would make his parents – and entire family – proud. Within a few short years, Alastor Moody indeed became the greatest Auror of modern times.

Without hesitation, when Albus Dumbledore created The Order of the Phoenix, Alastor was one of the first to sign up and became one of the founding members. There, his rather unconventional methods of snatching up dark witches and wizards led him to be a key member in the struggle to defeat Voldemort. His efforts did not go unnoticed, making many enemies as he filled nearly half of the cells in Azkaban with Death Eaters he’d captured.

As the war continued, and the situation grew more fraught, the Ministry of Magic authorized their Aurors to use Unforgivable Curses against Death Eaters. As such, Alastor vowed never to kill unless absolutely necessary, often relaying the importance of defense spells to the other Order members. However, it made him less inclined to shy away from more complex and darker magic to catch Death Easters before they could maim or harm those of the Wizarding World. Especially when it came to seeking Igor Karkaroff and putting him away once and for all. His search led Moody to lose a leg (replaced by a wooden prosthesis) and of course Evan Rosier. The later of which, Moody did not intend to kill, but after a ruthless battle (leaving Alastor significantly scarred with a piece of his nose missing), it was necessary to put an end to that violence and terror Rosier caused.

Biography After 1979:

Alastor Moody, broken and battered, but still intact attended Igor Karkaroff’s trial with much disdain as the defector was offered to give up the names of a number of his fellow Death Eaters in exchange for a lighter sentence. He even seemingly ‘joked’ to Albus that they should take the names and send the monster back to Azkaban. Moody watched as the former Death Eater offered in vain the names of: Antonin Dolohov, Evan Rosier, Travers, Mulciber, and Severus Snape, all of whom seemed to have already either been killed, captured, or defected – some by Moody’s own hands. Yet, any satisfaction of that confession was taken away as Karkaroff successfully named Augustus Rookwood, an Unspeakable, and a double-agent spying on the Ministry for Voldemort. This was news to the Ministry, but Karkaroff was sent back to Azkaban, pending a review into Rookwood’s case; when Karkaroff’s allegations proved true, he was released, and went on to take the position of Headmaster of Durmstrang Institute. The next allegation was one that caused an outcry in the trial, of Barty Crouch’s son…whom Alastor stopped from escaping, as he was quick with his wand. As such, Moody put yet another target on his back.

As the years passed, even after the war, Moody continued hunting down and straggler Death Eaters. His resilience, unyielding loyalty, and refusal to put an end to the cause, led Moody to lose his left eye in some rather violent missions. Luckily for him, Albus recognized his friend’s unwavering ferocity, and crafted him a magical eye prosthetic. This made Alastor able to see through the back of his head (being the only one to know the true form of a boggart), walls, and much more. It gave him a greater sense of pride, however, his ptsd was threatening his very livelihood. At one point, Moody violently tore apart a birthday present paranoid that it may be a cleverly disguised Basilisk egg; it turned out only to be a carriage clock. Thus, the Ministry began to lose faith in him, mocking him with the name ‘Mad-Eye’, and into retirement.

The only solace came when he began training Nymphadora Tonks in the Auror-training program. That, and reading up on The Boy Who Lived in the Daily Prophet. Harry Potter had begun his years at Hogwarts and was already making a name for himself passed the only one who survived the killing curse. This fascinated Alastor and it was due to this (and his own curiosity) that he allowed Albus Dumbledore to convince him to come out of retirement - and serve as Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry’s latest Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher.

Before the school year began, however, Moody was attacked in his home by Barty Crouch Jr and Peter Pettigrew, on Voldemort’s orders. Moody proved more difficult to overcome than the Death Eaters initially thought – to which the significant fight alerted his Muggle neighbors. Unfortunately, Moody’s mind was playing tricks on him, and was overpowered and imprisoned in his own magical trunk. Disguised as Alastor Moody, Barty Crouch Jr used Polyjuice Potion to take on Moody’s form to replace him at Hogwarts, successfully fooling staff and pupils alike. He imitated many of Moody’s normal habits, including regularly drinking said Polyjuice Potion out of Moody’s hip flask (his only drinking vessel due to his paranoia of being poisoned). Doing this allowed him to impersonate Moody for almost the whole year without raising suspicion. All the while, Crouch did his part in Voldemort’s plan. Moody’s life was spared due to Crouch needing his hair to create the Polyjuice Potion, and wanting to question Moody for his behavior, patterns, etc., all while keeping Alastor under the Imperius Curse. It wasn’t until after Voldemort’s resurrection that Crouch’s plan was foiled and Moody was discovered down in the trunk.

After recuperating in the Hospital Wing, Moody returned to health in time to sit at the staff table for the End-of-Term Feast, as he was the designated DADA teacher (though he hadn’t actually taught many (if any) classes due to his unfortunate predicament). In his own opinion, Moody certainly didn’t consider himself a “professor,” because of his lack of actual teaching. Though he physically recovered completely from his ordeal, he was (if possible) even more paranoid for his safety than before. In the aftermath, his eye occasionally got stuck in mid rotation as a result of Crouch having worn it, necessitating regular cleaning in a glass of water on his bedside table.

In 1995, Moody joined the reformed Order of the Phoenix as part of the Advance Guard, that took Harry from 4 Privet Drive to the Order of the Phoenix’s Headquarters in 12 Grimmauld Place. Later on, Moody showed up for the party Molly Weasley threw for Ron and Hermione to celebrate their becoming prefects - mentioning that Dumbledore must have assumed Ron was good at resisting spells or he would not have put him in authority. He, along with Sirius Black and Remus Lupin, checked that something inside a writing case in a spare room was indeed a boggart. Moody also showed Harry an old picture of the original Order of the Phoenix and described the members (who had passed…how many were tortured or worse…something to which made Harry sick). In the summer, Moody was one of the guards that was tasked with escorting Harry Potter to the Hogwarts Express along with Tonks in order to ensure Harry’s safety, as Lord Voldemort had returned to power.

During the Christmas of 1995, Moody along with Tonks, accompanied Harry, Hermione, and the Weasleys to St Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries to visit Arthur Weasley, who had been attacked by Lord Voldemort’s snake, Nagini. Moody remarked that he thought it was odd that Harry had seen the attack through the snake’s eyes, but wasn’t sure what to make of it. Still, he continued to protect Harry and his friends in the attack in the battle of the Department of Mysteries. Even though it almost led to his demise. There, they all fought tirelessly, with Antonin Dolohov leaving Moody injured. He only came to, seeing that his eye was next to him and Nymphadora gravely injured as well. Something he took responsibility over since he’d been watching over her since the beginning of her training. She was the first he’d come to care for, and grow close to, even if it was more paternal. After having recovered after the battle, Moody, Tonks and Lupin came to King’s Cross Station to tell the Dursleys to start treating Harry with respect at their home. When an intimidated Vernon Dursley asked if Moody was threatening him, Moody showed him his magical eye, which frightened Vernon to his core. Something that gave Alastor a small pleasure.

In June 1997, Hogwarts was invaded by Death Eaters in an attempt to assassinate Albus Dumbledore, although they were once again opposed by several members of Dumbledore’s Army and the Order of the Phoenix. Severus Snape was believed to be a traitor after killing Dumbledore, confirming Alastor’s suspicions of the greasy bat from the start. Because of this, Moody personally put extra protections on 12 Grimmauld Place to prevent Snape and the other Death Eaters from entering with the image of his long lost friend to guard the home. Moody also attended Dumbledore’s funeral along with several other members of the Order of the Phoenix, various Hogwarts Students, and other employees of the Ministry as well. After the funeral, he became the new leader of the Order of the Phoenix.

“The one thing we’ve got on our side is that You-Know-Who doesn’t know we’re moving you tonight. We’ve leaked a fake trail to the Ministry, they think you’re not leaving until the thirtieth. However, this is You-Know-Who we’re dealing with so we can’t just rely on him getting the date wrong.”

Who would have thought that Alastor’s care and over-protection would be his downfall? The night The Order was set to move Harry Potter before his seventeenth birthday, Severus’ betrayal cut through the open wound even deeper, along with Pius Thicknesse’s subversion. The plan of the Seven Potters was easily thwarted, igniting the sky in spells of light and dark magic alike as the battle took place. Fortunately for them, Alastor Moody was one of the few witches and wizards to ever outsmart Voldemort. He had counted on The Dark Lord to follow him, knowing the snake would believe the real Harry would be with the most experienced Auror. Thus, The Boy Who Lived was safe in Hagrid’s care. Unfortunately, Moody was partnered with a reluctant Mundungus Fletcher who didn’t want to participate in the move out of fear. The team was ambushed by Death Eaters on take-off. Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour witnessed and reported what had happened: Moody and Fletcher were heading north, close by Bill and Fleur, after the Order members scattered. Voldemort, using his ability to fly, went straight for them as he believed Harry would be flying with the most skilled witch or wizard in the Guard, which was Alastor Moody. Fletcher panicked, crying out, and Moody tried to stop him, but Mundungus Disapparated, leaving Moody vulnerable to attack.

The Killing Curse, aimed for Fletcher disguised as Potter, hit Moody in the face the second that Mundungus disapparated. Feeling the cold effects of death as the wind whipped at his skin, Moody fell backwards off his broom and down to the ground… With half a dozen Death Eaters were on their own tail, Bill and Fleur could do nothing…

GROWING UP

Alastor was raised in pureblood society, the youngest of four sons of renowned aurors Winston and Lyanna moody. Growing up he was spoiled and conceited, never wanting for anything but knowing he could get whatever he wanted, he was brilliant but lazy, with more to offer on the quidditch pitch than in the classroom. With his brothers already carrying on the family legacy as aurors, Alastor dreamed of becoming an international quidditch sensation.

When Alastor was 16 years old, he lost his entire family at the hands of dark wizards seeking revenge. The only reason he survived was because he was at Hogwarts. The Moody family was greatly respected, and an immediate investigation was launched by the Ministry, the wizards responsible were apprehended and sent to Azkaban. Alastor chose to become an Auror to honor his family as they had been killed for doing their jobs, for doing what was right. He tries to live up to the family name but it’s getting harder with each day.

START OF THE WAR

Alastor still remembers the day everything changed. And no, it wasn’t the day they told him he had lost his entire family. That had been so long ago, at times he even believed that the person he was at sixteen, before that, didn’t really exist, had not really exist. No. The day everything changed had been but a few years ago. At the time he had been mad, annoyed was more like it, that the auror department had been called into that crime scene when it had been cleared of any dark magic. The auror department was supposed to chase and capture dark wizards and witches, not waste their time with common crimes. But upon arriving Alastor realized that there was something far darker, something that was about to change their lives.

“Do we keep track of hate crimes?” Alastor had asked, confusion was the only answer he got, “we should start” he had said looking at the crime scene in front of him.

He had been right, everything had changed. A war had started, and it had not slowed down. And since that moment the auror department had handle the cases that had fallen under the criteria of the thing propelling this war. Hate.

PRESENT TIME

They had seen it coming, the war, it did not take them by surprise or unprepared. But it still took it’s toll on all of them. If it was up to Alastor he would not call it a war, in wars you know your enemy, this was something different, this was something worse. Because you really didn’t know who you could trust. Alastor had learned the hard way what happened when you put your trust on the wrong person, and had vowed never to let it happen again.

Alastor still remembers the moment he learned about the order. He had received a message, an invitation to attend a meeting by the one and only Albus Dumbledore. Alastor had arrived at the appointed time and place, and he had listened to Albus sway those in the room into joining the group that would go face to face against the ever-growing evil outside. And even if Alastor had been skeptic at first, even going as far as telling Dumbledore that he could not expect him to join a group operating outside the ministry, Alastor had been surprised that the older wizard didn’t laugh in his face, anyone who knew Alastor knew how little regard he had for the ministry, specially what fell under their jurisdiction. But this was different, this was asking people, skilled and unskilled, young and old, to fight a war. Even with all his doubts Alastor had no option but to agree that such a group was needed, to operate where the ministry couldn’t or wouldn’t. He reluctantly agreed to join, to help in any way he could. And then the first general meeting happened, and there were only a couple of things Alastor had regretted more than having joined the order. The room was full of kids. People fresh out of Hogwarts, with lives and futures ahead of them. It didn’t matter if some law declared them of age, they were young, children in every sense of the word.

And now, now Dumbledore had them searching for the only means to end this war, Alastor did not doubt the information brought for by the youngest Black, that kind of regret and determination is hard to fake, but to put their faith on a single task, well Alastor would rather keep hunting down Death Eaters, but even if he clashed with Dumbledore more often than not, he was still committed to see the end of it all.

WANTED DYNAMICS

KEEP ME GROUNDED. Is not that Alastor forgets social niceties and manners, is that he just couldn’t care less whether people like him or not. Which only leads to him coming off as a straight up asshole on his worse days, and a paranoid grump on a daily basis. He could use someone he respects and is strong enough to call him out when he’s being a jerk. To point out where the line is, and making it clear that it is not okay to cross it.

BROTHERS IN ARMS. You are only as good as the person fighting next to you. Someone Alastor had grown to respect and rely on. They might not always have a heart-to-heart about their feelings, but this is one of the few people Alastor knows he can turn to. Whether sharing drinks or just being there for each other, this is one of the few people Alastor can honestly say he trusts.

SURE I’LL TEACH YOU. Alastor has a hard time believing anyone in their right mind would chose him as a mentor. Even so Alastor stepped into the role and with each passing generation he gets better at preparing aurors. Now with the order he has also taken the responsibility to get them ready for a fight he wished they never had to fight. Alastor is always willing to work with anyone who wants to be better prepared and work on refining their technique.

JUST PROMISE YOU WON’T END UP LIKE ME. Callous grumpy nature aside, Alastor is a mentor at heart, and sometimes even if it surprises everyone around, he might end up giving some advice to those brave enough to bring up discussing their feelings with him. Rumor says the best time to approach him is when he’s drinking, that’s when he’s more at ease, he might even pour you one.

FIGHT ME. It’s not that he lives to make enemies, that’s just something that happens from time to time. With the wizarding society hanging by a fine thread, and Alastor living up to his last name every day of the week, everyone could easily fall into this category. Whether this is someone who annoys him, like a fellow ministry employee, or someone Alastor would love to punch their teeth out if the opportunity ever were to arise.

NOTHING LEFT TO SAY BUT GOODBYE. Alastor was born and raised into the pureblood life. His parents were never pureblood elitists, and coming from a long line of Aurors they had an impeccable reputation. His family was murdered before any of them could be labeled blood traitors. At sixteen Alastor was left to carry on a family legacy. He cultivated many friendships through his childhood and early years in Hogwarts. Some of those friends, that he once considered family, have now turned out to be on the other side of the war. What happens when the person you would take a hit for is the one pointing the wand at you?

I WOULD FOR YOU. Alastor’s family was taken from him in the blink of an eye. For years he convinced himself that caring for anyone was only going to end in pain and heartbreak. Despite having friends that he cared for and loved, he always tried to push them and keep them at arm’s length. After a failed engagement he accepted the fact that he was not meant to have a family. Alastor might never have children of his own, but family has always been about more than blood.

Moody served with distinction during the first conflict, gaining a reputation as a skilful battler against the Dark Arts and sacrificing an eye, a leg, and part of his nose during the conflict.
