Okay so i went in depth about some of Bucky's hockey stats and habits as a goal tender with @1343-40 BUT i gotta talk about Gale "One Engine" Cleven (Aka Clevy, AKA Buck) for a second

so i imagine he's about 5 years into his NHL career. A cup under his belt, not quite a seasoned vet, not quite a rookie. He could still be argued as up-and-coming and has won a lot of awards but theres a lotta people who think he's overrated, over hyped. Bit of a candy-ass when it comes to taking hits and standing up to the bigger players (not that Austin is itty bitty but he's small for a hockey player)

so anyways by year Five Gale is playing a solid 78-82 games. He's the main guy, hes the superstar. Got his nickname "One Engine" cause he skated and scored with one broken off skate

Stats(Cumulative): 146 goals, SOLID 350 assists, (What can i say hes a giver) He's got a really low PIM; mostly nonviolent calls so Holding, maybe some accidental high-sticks and obstruction. He's an ace on the Powerplay (58 PPG, 140 PPA) but struggles with his SHG (we'll put it at a solid ONE TIME) ,again because of his size. if he doesn't have enough players playing interference the other team roughs him up easy.

he's got a respectably 24 game winning goals by now, a stanley cup and a closet of trophies:

Art Ross, Hart memorial, Ted Lindsay. ALMost snags the Messier but I think Curt gets it instead. Maurice Richard and 2 Conn Smythes

How to calculate peer pressure?

We need to make assumptions about what peer pressure actually is.

Peer pressure, as the name implies, is a derivative of air pressure. Air pressure is measured in pascals (Pa), or if you like, Newtons per metres squared, or N/m². Newtons is a unit of force and this is how much force is being applied on the air per square metre (because pressure acts in 2D. Long story.)

Now let’s get use the boring maths to get to our goal. Pascals = N / m2 . The conclusion we drew is that air pressure is force per metre squared (force per area). If we assume peer pressure to act similar to air pressure, then we need to measure the force acting on the person being pressured. Measuring force is a bit tricky because if you use F = ma, how do you measure the acceleration of air? But luckily, some guy called Bernoulli came up with an equation that’s a bit recursive but can fix our problems.

Basically, if you ignore all the tricky parts of Bernoulli’s equation and cancel out everything we don’t want to use, Pressure(final) - Pressure(initial) = 1/2 x density x velocity2. AKA Change in Pressure = 1/2 x density x velocity2. But we’re looking to derive force first, not pressure, because we’re taking a roundabout route to destination. Since Pressure = Force / Area, then Force = Pressure x Area. All good? Now let’s get down to work.

The force acting on the person being pressured = 1/2 x density (of air) x velocity (of air)2 x area (of human body being affected).

The density of air is 1.204 kg/m3 at room temperature and pressure.

Velocity of air is interesting. Velocity is basically speed but with direction. We need to measure which direction the peer pressure is traveling and how fast it’s going. For this, we can derive it via equation:

velocity = displacement / time

where displacement means change in position. If we were working with 2D or 3D movement, the change in position might be way more complicated to calculate, but for the sake of simplicity, let’s assume that peer pressure occurs in a straight line: you stand opposite the person peer pressuring you. Let’s assume you stand at a distance of 1.5m. That’s the displacement; now what about time?

Time is the amount of time it takes for the peer pressure to impact your body. As you use your ears to detect it, presumably it travels at the speed of sound, which is about 343 m/s at room temperature conditions. For something that travels at 343 m/s, it takes 0.00437s to travel 1.5m.

velocity = 1.5 / 0.00437, which, yeah, is just the speed of sound at 343 m/s.

Area of human is basically the surface area of your body being affected by peer pressure. For the sake of simplicity, let’s assume that force is applied equally across the entire affected area (which is half of your total body area, because pressure acts in 2D and can’t wrap around your body like a blanket).

According to the Net, the body surface area of an average adult human is anywhere between 1.6 - 1.9 m². Let’s take me as an example. I have approximately 1.60 m² body surface area, but divide that in half to about 0.8 m².

∴ Force of peer pressure = 1/2 x 1.204 x 3432 x 0.8 = 56,659.7584 Newtons

That’s a lot of force (it takes 4000 Newtons to break a human femur, although this is force exerted by air, not an implement). Now, let’s go back to the original equation

Pressure = Force / Area (which, if you’ll notice, is recursive because we already multiplied by area to find force).

Let’s be more fun and rename this. Let’s say the unit for peer pressure is pPa (meaning peer pascal, and also with kpPa, kilo peer pascal. Both of these are identical to the pascal and kilopascal) and the equation is pPa = N / m2. Therefore:

pPa = 56,659.7584 / 0.8 ≈ 70,825

Congrats, folks! The amount of peer pressure exerted on an average human my size is 70,825 pPa, or about 70.8 kpPa. For comparison, 1 atmospheric pressure (the pressure surrounding us daily) is approximately 101.325 kPa.

By peer pressuring someone, you are adding approximately 70% more pressure to someone on this very earth! Don’t do this!

“Oh, I’m very much not,” he says amiably, ignoring the way the other Spades flinch slightly as he allows his Voice to reflect how he actually feels. “I am, in fact, furious. Really fucking furious, actually. And I still very much want to kill that sorry excuse for a doctor.“

“But-”

“But killing them now would be kinder than having them live with the consequences of their actions, as Buggy quite rightly pointed out to me. Even if the thought of sending them to Captain so he can deal with their bullshit is very tempting.”

Soooo... here we are, after 3 and a half years, 30 chapters later, about 280 000 words in, this fic comes to an end. Not completely, as there are two sequels planned, but it is still an ending (and one you're probably going to yell at me for xD)

It has been a wild ride, not gonna lie. I never expected this fic to take off as it did, or for so many people to jump on the Buggy appreciation train! It's been terrifying and amazing, and none of that would have been possible without you all, so I really wanted to thank you for everything.

It's been three and a half years since I posted the first chapter of this fic, and I had no idea what would happen (it was supposed to be a short crack fic, Davy Jones damn it!)

And yet, here we are today, you and me and all of us, and I am so glad this happened. I met some of my best friends through this fic, got a whole bunch of amazing enablers on the discord server (you know who you are, and I adore you all), bettered my writing, got through some seriously though times, and always, always you all were here for me. Your comments have brightened so many of my darker days, and I cannot thank you enough for this.

So, here we are today, on the last chapter of *We still stand proud* but not on the last chapter of this story that now links us together.

If all goes well, the sequel should be out sometimes this summer (though no promises, as life can happen and disturb the best laid plans of mens and writers!) and we'll head into the Baltigo arc (Aka dumping the PPA - Pirate Parent Association - on top of Dragon) together!

I am annoyed at constant anons throwing their "BTS/Jikook are basically biological brothers" bullsh*t around so...let's get into today's Korean lesson, shall we?

Generally, since age difference/age hierarchy is very important in Korean culture, there are fixed words to refer to someone older you are close to (family, friends, romantic partner,...). These are all of them:

오빠 [oh-bba/ppa] = younger woman to older man

누나 [noo-na] = younger man to older woman

언니 [eon-nie/un-nie] = younger woman to older woman

형 [hyeong/hyung] = younger man to older man

오빠/oppa and 누나/noona are generally accepted to be used in romantic context, while the other two are often denied. Why? Because heteronormativity, of course!

Do you really think that means they want to become the girl's biological older brother? No. The lyrics are generally translated to "I want to become your boyfriend" because guess what?? It's the liberal translation of "oppa" in this context!

Let's just think about Boy in Luv lyrics:

"되고파 너의 오빠"

"I want to become your oppa"

Now let's go a bit further back in K-Pop history (a lot further back) and look at SHINee's debut song, "누난 너무 예뻐" (engl. title: Replay). Its literal translation is "noona is so pretty". Do you really think it's about their biological sister?? No, Sir! Noona is a romantic interest.

These examples show that all four words above can be used in romantic contexts. 언니/unnie and 형/hyung just as much as 오빠/oppa and 누나/noona.

But what about dongsaeng?? Doesn't that just mean that JM sees JK as his cute little biological baby brother uwu??

Nope.

동생 [dong-saeng] = 1) biological younger sibling, 2) someone younger than the person speaking

동생/dongsaeng is basically the counterpart of all four words above (oppa, noona, hyung, unnie), but from the older to the younger person, there are not several different words but only the one, dongsaeng.

Since I love them a lot, let's take Hyuna and Dawn as an example. If someone asked Hyuna about her boyfriend (or fiancé I guess!), they might ask if he's older or younger than her. To that question, her response could be:

This does not, however, mean that they are biologically related.

"저보다/나보다 동생이에요" [Jeo-bo-da/na-bo-da dong-saeng-ih-eh-yo]

Literal: "He's my dongsaeng/he's a dongsaeng to me"

Liberal: "He's younger than me"

To sum up: All five words (oppa, noona, hyung, unnie, dongsaeng) can be used in any situations where someone is close but has an age difference. This can mean they are biological family, close friends, or in a romantic relationship.

Actually, dongsaeng (and oppa, noona, hyung, unnie) are so often used in non-family context that Koreans usually have to specify if they DO mean their biological siblings.

To do that, they tag a 친/chin to the word, which means something like "actual".

Aka when Hobi talks about his sister, he usually says "우리 친누나" [oo-ri chin-noo-na] aka "my real sister/my biological sister".

None of these words are inherently related to biological family, at the same time none of these words are inherently romantic.
