We have a month left of spring, so I went ahead and made air salts for when he's gone and I need that extra umph of wisdom. For when I'm not communicating well and to help break down any illusions that are built up in the time moving forward.

✨ I have a problem with lying to myself ✨I often use the element of air to help me see the truth when I'm somewhat reluctant.

I'll use these salts to cast circles or as a substitute for the air element whenever it's suited (I'm not always in the mood to use smoke as I live with other people, that's not the only way to bring the element of air I know, but these salts will be adding more options for me)

Do you cast circles? If so how do you do it? Salt or visualization are my preferred ways.

I used kosher salt, it's what I had available. This will be the main base and will make up the most of the purifying qualities of the mixture, making elemental salts great for purifying.

I used lavender, ruled by the air element, my intentions were to use it's healing properties to help close any wounds that may have been caused from past lies/illusions. This means that it's helping to create a safe space when used to cast circles. When the circle is cast, my wounds are healed and I can work peacefully.

Then sage, sage for it's cleansing abilities. I'll be using this to break down illusions and help me see the truth. Making this salt a great tool for divination. It prepares me to take in truth without altering or blocking any thing that comes to light that I don't want to see. It takes courage but do this in a time and place you feel safe.

And lastly Dill. I collect my herbs seasonally and Dill is a herb that I've been collecting a lot of this spring. He brings fresh air and great protective properties. Which is why it makes this salt mix perfect of circle casting or dropping in the corners of your room/house. Protect your home from spirits that may create fog in your mind. Clear them out to bring back concentration and a clean headspace. Spring clean your space basically, physically and mentally.

I made two batches of this, one that includes all above, and another with all that and the addition of Bergamot essential oil. I did this so that I could possibly use the first batch to season food, if I wish to do so, I have no idea if it would actually taste nice. Keep in mind with the edition of essential oils it makes these salts inedible. The second batch is purely for magick workings.

The bergamot oil adds additional protection and healing, and smells nice :)

fine, acceptable, it's magic. Okay. Even as a biologist I'm willing to give it a pass. God knows that in my space opera project I've went "mumble mumble convergent evolution mumble" for some of my earth-like aliens. The shape is kinda believeable and original, you chose some cool features, it's fine, no need for the whole phylogenetic tree.

Now, why is it magic? what does it mean it is magic?

Were dragons created by a god? are they manifestations of nature? why are dragons, especifically, magic and not say, crocodiles?

Is it a species with physical presence and a life cycle, or are they magical beings? how many dragons are there, how important they are to your world? are they worshipped, feared, venerated, just some kind of weird megafauna but otherwise unremarkable? what do they eat, how much?

If it's a sentient dragon from a physical species, as most modern fiction seems to assume (you'd be surprised that in most medieval works they were mostly mindless beasts or demons, dragons as noble creatures are very much a modern invention in the West) how do they think? How do they act differently from smaller, less powerful, shorter lived species? Do they have their own gods, their own rituals, their own beliefs? Are they lonely beings or are they able, or interested, to form part of society, or even have their own societies?

What's the cultural role of a dragon in the world you're making? What do your characters think when they hear the word 'dragon'? What do they know about dragons, when your hero goes and finds one, what are their conceptions of it? Can they fight it? How? Why?

Notice that most of my questions aren't stupid UNREALISTIC! CINEMASINS DING!, but things that actually affect your characters, setting and plot. Don't like to write a ethnographical paper about dragons? do it anyways or I'll shoot you, don't, but if you're introducing an element to your story, even if you're using stock fantasy elements like dragons, you will benefit A LOT from thinking how they fit into your story.

And even in settings were "it's magic" is acceptable as an answer, or more *surreal* or comedic stories where things happen without too much logic, a dragon is still a symbol. What does your dragon mean in your story? "oh, a magical dragon". Fine. Why is there a dragon on your story? Don't have a whole herpetology paper, because this is just a romance? Okay, can you spare me a couple lines to tell me what does a dragon mean in your world? That too, is yuri worldbuilding.

can any mycologists help explain what's going on in this soy sauce bottle? i've done some lab work with fungi but i've never seen a mould tree before.

while i do ship glimmadora, i think that adora staying single in the end would have been a powerful statement too. she has her friends by her side and maybe she finds her family as well, and her arc is resolved by her finding peace within herself and not needing a romantic relationship to validate her existence.

carmen sandiego does this pretty well tbh, while carmen did have romantic tension/coding with some of the other characters (especially julia), in the end, her search for her family is prioritized over her relationship status. the series ends with her finally finding her mother, giving us a satisfactory resolution to her arc.

idk my whole stance on the “will they/won’t they” in regards to buddie canon is just. it’s loud, it’s oddly ironic, that these are the only two main’s on the show that are S I N G L E. still! in season sex six! that their relationship statuses have basically run parallel to each other, that they keep trying and failing to find a romantic partner. so let’s look at the other side of the coin. what’s the other option? introducing yet again brand new love interests for both buck and eddie and having these people be their endgame relationships?

eddie? who has always held his cards close to his chest, is extremely protective over his son and who he gets close to, who has already tried dating the seemingly perfect woman for him and his son?

buck? who’s going to be a harder sell than ever now that he knows not to settle? who’s going to be looking for someone that accepts him just as he is, someone that compliments him perfectly, who accepts his relationships with the firefam, with chris and eddie, without complaint?

if this were season 2, 3, or hell, even season 4, i’d say yeah maybe we have time for all that. but we’re nearing the end of season SIX and there have been no new love interests brought in. and i don’t foresee 911 being a show that runs for 20+ seasons. i mean it could i guess but like. we’re in it. the meat of the sandwich. narratively, i don’t see it making sense for them to spend precious time cultivating new endgame relationships for the two of them. they’d likely have to run them at the same time, parallel to each other. yet again. which would be a tell in its own right that they were actively avoiding buddie canon.

i’m not saying they absolutely won’t do that, i have no idea what their actual plans are. i’m just saying they’re boxing themselves into a corner. a great big rainbow-filled flaming gay corner.

We’re all familiar with Liam’s love of Shakespearean tragedy so here’s a thing I just thought of

Vax as Macbeth: man encounters a dark witch who tells him he’s fated to become an incredibly powerful harbinger of death, and even though he doesn’t really want it and doesn’t know what he’s doing, he has no choice but to march toward that fate, losing everything he holds dear in the process

Caleb as Hamlet: man begins to uncover the corruption under which he lives and spends the rest of his life scheming to get revenge on the people who killed his family, but he questions his own mind so much that he retreats into self-doubt and cowardice (bonus points if Astrid and Eadwulf are both Rosencrantz and Gildenstern AND Ophelia and Laertes)

Orym as Othello (?): man trained to be a loyal soldier slowly descends into madness and cruelty, turning against those he loves as his humanity is stripped away and he becomes nothing but a pawn in a villain’s game (this is making me wonder if/when Dorian comes back, Orym might be so broken by betrayal and distrust that he’s gone completely cold or lashes out at him)

Obviously Orym’s story arc is incomplete so this is purely conjecture, and ofc there’s a lil flavor of many different influences in all these characters. But I woke up at 7am on a Sunday bolt upright with this in my head and I needed to write it down
