Fukuda relates:
At that moment we were both suffering from acute pangs of conscience. We alone knew, as those around us did not, that even a single aircraft with a single bomb might cause a more frightful catastrophe than all the squadrons which had formerly attached us put together. We wanted to utter a cry of warning to all those indifferent people: 'Run for safety! That may be no ordinary aircraft with ordinary bombs!' But the General Staff had strictly enjoined us to keep the secret from the uninitiated, even from our own families. Our lips were therefore sealed. Overcome with rage and shame at not being allowed to warn our fellow creatures, we waited for minute after minute in that air-raid shelter. We schedule dared to breathe until the 'all clear' signal was given. Fortunately no atom bomb was dropped on that occasion. But that temporary piece of luck made no difference to our dejection. As we had not dared to warn our fellow human beings, we felt that we had betrayed them. My revered professor, Nishina, never recovered from the feeling of guilt he experienced that day.

I do want to talk quick about the pelicans in The Boy and The Heron. While in the theater, I kept my mind open to symbols and metaphors that could slide into a larger narrative about war and grief, and these fit pretty well. The pelicans can no longer find fish to eat and are recruited and told to eat the Warawara. They don’t want to, and they didn’t know that’s what they’d be eating until they got there. There’s nothing else to eat. Their children are growing up different, they hardly know how to fly anymore.
It reminder me of soldiers drafted for war and sent to defeat whoever they’re pointed towards bc they have no choice. I’m glad Mahito buries the Pelican properly.
I looked up what the pelican symbolizes in Japan, and the first result says they represent parents who sacrifice themselves for their children. Sounds about right.
I think this connects largely to Mahito’s shifting perspective on the war and the people who fight it. He loses his mother to a fire caused by an air raid. She dies in a hospital, filled with children and other patients. I wonder if he possibly resents his father throughout the movie, because he builds aircraft, which will inevitably be used for more destruction (just like Miyazaki and his father). And then the pelicans say they have no choice and fear for the future their children will grow in and he starts redirecting his anger away from his father and heal?
Idk, I’ve only seen the movie once, and this is based off my 2+ day old memory. What do other people think?

Can I request Yuta and y/n go to gojo’s house to “house sit” while he’s out on a mission (for whatever reason gojo wants them to watch his house), and while in there, they have rough sex and Gojo comes home to his house and they hide in one of his closets and finish in there.😭
House sitting
"If anything breaks I’m going to make sure it comes out your pockets." Gojo said with a stern voice over the phone.
Today your lovely teacher left you and Yuta to house sit for extra credit. He had a week long mission across Japan and he needed someone to take care of his home. Mostly because he had a very expensive pet Koi fish to be maintained. He had set you long instructions about how to feed and clean its home.
He trusted the both of you because you were the most careful people out of the rest. Making him feel at ease about leaving his home to you. He couldn’t make himself leave the other student to do such a job.
Isn’t he rich? Something like that shouldn’t hurt him. You laugh at the thought as you take out the key from your pocket and insert it in the keyhole.
The door opened to the big house and both of you stepped in with your jaws open. It looked really big and nice from the outside but the inside was indescribable. He’d had to of paid an interior decorator because theirs no way he had good taste like this.
"Don’t worry Gojo sensei we won’t ruin anything. Hope your mission goes well!" Yuta says as he wishes his sensei a good trip. When he hung up he put his phone in his pocket and smiled at you.
You were currently raiding the pantry because Gojo did say "make yourself at home, just don’t get too comfortable." You ended up finding pretty high end snacks and foreign ones too. The amount of sweets in there was disgusting to look at. You ended up grabbing a bag of American bbq chips but it was snatched out of your hand by Yuta.
You quirk your brow and playfully take it back. The smirk on his face determined that a game had begun. You run past him with the chips and tauntingly shake them in the air. You knew he loved eating chips and would die to try some of these.
"You going to come and get them?" You laugh.
"Mmh Im sure Gojo has something similar or even better in the pantry." He said as he walked past you.
You sigh seeing how the game ended so quickly but soon took that thought back as he grabbed it from your hands in one swift motion. You quickly grab the back of his shirt and pulled him back. Yuta ends up falling down and you take the bag once again.
"That was dirty" he says as he sat there
"How unfortunate huh? You better start begging for this bag Okkotsu because there’s no way you’re getting it from me."
Yuta grabbed you by the ankle and pulled you down with him making you fall on your behind. You groan from the pain but then gasp in surprise as he pushed you completely on the floor. Back touching the cold marble tiles. He had your arms pinned on the floor as he hovered over you. The ring from his necklace dangling over your face.
"Can I beg for a different snack? Something more exotic?" He leans down till your noses are touching.
You swallow hard as the grip on the bag of chips suddenly loosened. Gojo would be mad if he found out you guy did it in his house. He didn’t even know the both of you were dating. It was something you guys decided to keep secret for now. If he did know you doubt he would have let the both of you guys stay together alone at him house. You shyly look away as he planted a kiss on your head.
"Gojo is going to get mad when he finds out." You whisper as if he was somehow going to be listening to the conversation.
"If he finds out, trust me he’s not going to be back soon. If he was we wouldn’t be house sitting right?" He said trying to persuade your answer.
"You don’t have a condom" you say trying to find an excuse.
He chuckled as he looked up and around the room. "This is Gojo’s house you know, that’s one of the first things we’re going to find if we snoop around." He said as he stood up and extended his hand out.
You gladly took it and got on your feet. You watch as he walked down a hall into a room. Following right behind him out of curiosity you realize that he had entered your teachers room. Peeking in you could feel his huge cali-king bed in the middle. It had big white fluffy covers on and tons of pillows. You could also see tons of designer shopping bags thrown in a corner. An expensive dresser and his collection of sunglasses.
"Ah thank goodness we have almost the same size, this should be fine." He said as he held the rubber in between his index and middle finger.
You could feel your cheeks flush as he said it with a happy look on his face. He handed the rubber to you too look at while he began to take his clothes off.
"Wait! We’re doing it here? In his room? Are you crazy?! He’s totally going to find out, he’s not stupid Yuta!" You say as you pull his shirt back down.
He sighs as he sits you on the big bed. You look up at him confused on what his plan was. He pushed you onto the bed as gently as sits over your waist trapping you under him. He then proceeded to take his shirt off fully.
"Relax, I don’t think iv ever seen you this nervous other than our first time." He says amused.
He was right, you were probably overreacting and everything was going to be fine. He took your uniform off too and eventually both of you were in bed unclothed. He leaned down and kissed your body up and down while you played with his silky hair. Going all the way down till he reached your throbbing heat. You bite your lip as he hooked your legs onto his arms and pulled you closer to the edge of the bed. His lips brush against your as you could feel as his warm tongue entered in between your folds.
"Mhm!"
He began eating you out like he always did. As if it were his last meal. You grip his hair as he continued eating you out faster. So many lewed noises being made. It sounded so wet and so good that it made you feel embarrassed somehow. Your toes curled while he messed with your sensitive bud. You could feel yourself getting closer but he stopped halfway not wanting you to finish just yet.
Changing location on the bed you now were laying your head near the headboard. Yuta was now on the bed spreading your legs apart. He allied himself to your hole and slowly started going in. You wince at the uncomfortable pain from not being stretched out.
He slowly pulls his tip in and out of you repeatedly to get you comfortable with his length. As he moved the bed shook a bit. He was looking around the room making sure the bed didn’t bump into anything valuable and then noticed the shelf on top of the bed. On there you could see a few expensive statues that seemed to be a collection. As he still mindlessly moved he noticed that one was sitting too close to the edge and with one more small thrust the statue fell over the edge. He lunged foward to catch it before it made contact with the floor and that he did.
“Yuta!" You yell
He looked down at you to see your face full of pain. Then he realized that he shoved himself all the way in to be able to catch the statue.
"Sorry! I didn’t mean to ram into you!" He said with a shy smile.
After that situation the both of you continued. He thrusted into you more and more. You moaned his name as you grabbed his arms for moral support. His member attracted you out so much that you felt so full. Your eyes watered from how good it felt. Your thighs touched his chest as he folded you more and more. He wanted to make sure that he was deep inside of you and leaving you satisfied. His hips rolled making you squirm even more. But before either of you could finish you could hear the front door creak open and someone yell.
"I’m home! You guys won’t believe how easy that mission was. Stupid elders made it seem like such a big de-"
As Gojo ranted the both of you jump out of bed. Yuta grabbed all of your clothes and shoved them inside the closet as you fix the bed up. Your heart was racing like crazy as you ran inside the closet pulling Yuta inside too. He looked at you stunned but before he could say anything you closed the door quietly. Turning around you could see how huge the closet was. If you had to compare it to something it would be two dorm rooms combined. The both of you sit in silence as you heard his wonder around the house calling for you guys. You switch the light off as slowly sat on the floor curing Yuta for getting you guys into this mess.
How were you guys supposed to leave? Or make it seem like you guys wernt doing it in his room? Will you guys get suspended?
Your mind was running with hundreds of questions but soon stopped as soon as you felt to hands grasp your waist. You head snapped back as if you were going to be able to see him but all you saw was pitch black. You had no idea how he found you in the dark or how he knew where your hips were. You sat here feeling him push your back against his as he slipped back inside of you. You gasp but he covered your mouth quickly to prevent any noise. Grabbing your legs he listed you up. He moved you up and down like his person cock sleeve as he stood. You sometimes forgot how crazy strong he was.
"He could open this door any minute." He whispered making you tense up.
The room echoed with the faint sound of your skin slapping until Gojo entered his room. That didn’t stop Yuta though and he continued. He kept on going as if you guys wernt about to be caught. Yuutas breaths started to become heavy and so were yours. You throw your head back as you began to orgasm.
"I found you" Gojo says as he opened the closet door.
"…" he stood there stunned looking at Yuta with a odd gaze.
"That’s definitely not your color." Gojo said as he stepped inside to help him out.
Yuta was wearing one of Gojos button up pretending as if he was trying on clothes. You ran out when Gojo was paying attention to only him. As you ran you could feel something running down your legs and you stopped infront of a hallway mirror to see it was semen. The condom must of broken…
Now wasn’t the time to worry about this. You had to leave immediately. Throwing your clothes on you run out the door. Hopefully you were still going to get that extra credit.
Back in Gojos house Yuta was now being styled by Gojo.
"So where is y/n?" He asks as he buttons Yutas shirt up.
"She left before you got here, family emergency." Yuta said dryly.
"That’s weird because I saw her shoes at the front door when I came in. I also saw the condom wrapper you guys left on my nightstand."

Alright, I’m bored again so I’m going to rank all of the arcs from best to worst:
Great:
1. Hero Killer Arc: This arc and number 2 on this list proves that MHA had such potential. Watching Izuku grow and his efforts/impact on other people being acknowledged was great to see. We’ve got fantastic growth for the three main characters and a very good antagonist(despite some issues I have with Stain’s goal). Best of all, no Katsuki.
2. Shie Hissaki Arc: another great arc with a lot of great fights and characters. Watching Izuku vs Overhaul was thrilling and being introduced to The Big 3 and some cool pro heroes was a treat. There are some issues I have with this arc, such as how Overhaul’s motivations suck (he sees quirks as cooties when he literally has the best quirk in Japan) and that some characters could’ve been developed more (I would’ve loved to see more from the Eight Bullets and Nejire), but it was overall a good experience. And again, no Katsuki.
3. USJ Arc: Other than Katsuki’s dumbass endangering everyone and not getting called out for it, I had a blast with this arc. Solid character interactions all around and a fantastic fight to end it all off.
4. U.A Festival Arc: Gentle was a breath of fresh air in terms of villains and I really enjoyed his fight with Izuku. This would’ve been number 3 if not for the fact Izuku gets yelled at for doing his job and Katsuki gets another point added to him being a Gary Stu by revealing yet another talent he has that he shouldn’t.
Good:
5. Entrance Exam Arc: It was a solid setup for getting to know Izuku, All Might, and the world of MHA. It was one of the few times that the narrative wasn’t sucking on Katsuki’s dick too.
6. Forest Training Arc: The final arc that I’d consider good. We’ve got some solid moments here. Fumikage going berserk, Mezou carrying everyone to safety being introduced to the main LoV members, Izuku vs Muscular, and the character of Kota were nice additions to the series. We even got to see some of 1-B, even if it wasn’t much.
Alright:
7: Meta Liberation Arc: Now we’re in the area where these arcs aren’t bad, but they clearly exist just to set things up. This is an arc that would’ve been fantastic if it wasn’t for the fact it led nowhere. Yes, a good chunk of the LoV received fantastic development but the MLA were so lame, and by that, I mean they’re introduced here only to serve as canon fodder in the next arc.
8. Pro Hero Arc: I don’t really have any complaints about this arc nor do I have anything to say outside the fact Endeavor’s fight with the High End was pretty neat.
9. Hideout Raid Arc: only reason this isn’t in the “good” or “great “ category is cause it was centered around Katsuki. All Might vs AFO was a fantastic conclusion to the first saga of MHA and I liked seeing the rescue squad in action… even though Katsuki made it a pain to be rescued.
10. U.A traitor Arc: I don’t really care about this arc for two reasons, one is that the foreshadowing leading up to this moment sucked and that we never really got to spend enough time with Yuuga to care much about the reveal.
Bad:
11. Endeavor Agency Arc: Now we’re at the part where I dislike all of these arcs. This is an arc that Katsuki ruins due to him being a shitty character. Him yelling at a trauma victim to stop talking about her trauma in her own damn house was obnoxious. Katsuki didn’t need to be in this arc whatsoever. Remove him and this arc would’ve had a much higher rating for actually tackling Endeavor’s character and relationship with his family in a solid manner.
12. Sports Festival Arc: The Sports Festival Arc would’ve been fantastic it is weren’t for certain points. First off, this is where the Katsuki dick sucking really began. Shota acts like a mouthpiece for Katsuki even though the people booing him were right in the fact that he could’ve ended the fight easily. He also wasn’t taking Ochako seriously at all, literally announcing “it’s time to get serious” once her strat failed. He should’ve lost against Shoto too seeing as Shoto’s ice is a direct counter to his quirk. Finally, Katsuki had no right listening in on Shoto and Izuku’s conversation and demanding anything from Shoto, a point that’s never addressed. Secondly, all the Gen Ed kids were assholes for no reason. Who in their right mind sees 1-A going through a traumatic experience as them seeing themselves better than everyone else? Yeah, Katsuki gave off a bad impression but he’s just one guy. Finally, this was the arc that introduced Hitoshi, a failed attempt by Hori at tackling the idea of prejudice. Instead of someone bitter at the world for being screwed by society, we got an entitled bitch.
13. Remedial Course Arc: as much as I love Gang Orca, this arc served no purpose. Katsuki gives off a line that feels undeserved seeing as he’d go off undermining people afterwards but this arc’s biggest flaw was that it really didn’t have to exist.
Crap:
14. Battle Trial Arc: Now we’re in the really bad arcs. The Battle Trial Arc is once again ruined by Katsuki. Despite being told by All Might not to fire that explosion, he still does. Yes, he aimed it in a way that it wouldn’t kill Izuku, but the fact that All Might was worried that it could’ve killed Izuku meant that firing that thing in a narrow hallway could’ve seriously injured him. Katsuki suddenly switching up his fighting style despite having no formal training’s the first instance of his plot armor showing up, with the second being that he wasn’t disqualified. Katsuki being afraid of 1-A’s potential went nowhere cause he ended up winning the Sports Festival and would undermine 1-A constantly. Finally, Izuku telling Katsuki about his “borrowed power” was dumb. Everything else was fine though, but not enough to make up for Katsuki’s flaws.
15. Paranormal Liberation Arc: Would’ve been much higher but there are several glaring flaws. Izuku defending Endeavor’s character was one of those moments where I audibly groaned. Katsuki’s plot armor kicks it up into turbo gear by having him have a quirk awakening, surviving an attack that should’ve destroyed his stomach with zero consequences, and giving him an unearned “my body moved on its own” moment.
16. Quirk Apprehension Exam: This arc introduces Shota… and makes all of his flaws known to the audience. I have several posts going over why he sucks and this is the episode that shows it all off. Only thing keeping this from being ranked lower is cause we were also introduced to 1-A.
Shit:
17. Star and Stripe Arc: We’re close to the bottom of the barrel now. Hori introduces a character he never foreshadowed once despite Star and Stripe being the top pro hero of another country and immediately kills her. It does nothing to the plot either. “Oh but it nerfed Tomura” that’s what Hori tells us. Do we actually see what quirks Tomura lost? In fact, after this, his quirk evolves to counter Eraserhead’s. At best all this arc did was stall for time.
18. Dark Hero Arc: what a waste of potential. This would’ve been ranked lower if it wasn’t for Ochako’s speech, Izuku vs Muscular 2, and Izuku helping that fox lady. What makes it shit though? First off, Izuku suddenly unlocks the rest of his quirks. Secondly, 1-A thinks that the best way to get Izuku back is to show up, beat him up, and then kidnap him back to U.A. Third, the pros were offering Izuku no support. He was hungry, tired, and dirty, yet not once did any of them think “hey, if we’re using him as bait to draw AFO out, maybe we should keep him healthy so he can help us once we ambush AFO”. Fourth, Katsuki’s role in this arc. He demeans Izuku in front of his friends, daring to compare Izuku’s desire to protect everyone to him having an ego, and then gives an absolutely poorly timed and terrible apology. God this arc sucks.
19. Joint Training Arc: Oh look, another Katsuki dick sucking session. Sorry, but 1-B does not redeem how awful this arc is. Katsuki’s praised to the moon and back, insults his classmates and the former OFA users with no repercussions, and earns yet another victory. “But he saved Kyouka” but not out of being a good person. He only wanted the victory. Maybe this could’ve been a good step if Katsuki’s arc wasn’t Hori’s attempt at speedrunning a character arc. Yui getting beat by Ochako so effortlessly will forever bother me as one of Yui’s 5 fans (this girl has a 5/6 A+ skill stat, which is higher than Ochako’s). Also, Hitoshi’s here, but he’s actually tolerable here so I’m not going to rant about him.
Super Shit:
20. Provisional License Arc: This is going to be a short write cause there’s not much to be said. It’s yet another Katsuki dick sucking session where the narrative wanks him off. Then there’s Kacchan vs Deku 2, which if you’ve read any of my blogs, you know that this was once my least favorite moment of the series. If you wanna know why this moment was so crap, I have dozens of posts about why it does. And yes, I said it was once my least favorite moment. What’s to come somehow managed to beat it in terms of sheer crap.
I can’t think of any singular phrase to describe how terrible this arc is:
21. Final War Arc: How ironic that the end of the series is also at the end of this list. Where do I even begin? Well, there’s Miruko being the subject of someone’s gore fetish for the third time, AFO overstaying his welcome, Izuku hardly even doing anything, Tomura getting BS power ups up the wazoo, AFO and Izuku never meeting, the mutant portion being handled poorly, Dabi somehow gaining a power up that ultimately served no purpose, and Ochako and Himiko’s portion also being wrapped up poorly. However, what really makes this arc the bottom of the barrel is the dick sucking. Somehow, Katsuki’s able to last the longest against Tomura. Somehow Katsuki manages to score a hit just because he scared Tomura. Somehow Katsuki managed to survive having his heart, arm, and chest blown out via amateur surgery with absolutely no injuries despite being dead for like 5 min without a damn heart and heart surgery not being an answer for a broken arm. And finally, Katsuki gets yet another quirk power up and is now able to compete with AFO. This is THE arc where it’s clear Hori wanted Katsuki to be the protagonist and god damn I will argue that The Room and My Immortal is better than this clusterfuck of an arc.

March 22, 2024.
🚨Russia & China veto US UN Security Council ceasefire resolution
The resolution showed a shift: US had vetoed every ceasefire proposal, most recently Algeria’s as the US opposed language of “immediate” ceasefire, preferring “humanitarian pause”. But now the US draft states “the imperative of an immediate and sustained ceasefire”.
The problem? It’d last only 6 weeks, is conditional on release of Israeli hostages, and condemns both Hamas’ op & the Houthi naval blockade. The wording of “determines the imperative” is also weak, implying the importance of a ceasefire, not demanding one.
The result? It wouldn’t obligate Israel to end the genocide + let it continue on the pretext that there’s no “acceptable” hostage deal.
It was vetoed by 🇷🇺 & 🇨🇳 who said it’d let Israel continue attacks & invade Rafah. Algeria also voted against it.
10 states are planning alternative resolution calling for Ramadan ceasefire, including but not conditioned on release of Israeli hostages. US likely to veto.
Day 168 - IMPORTANT
• Gaza death toll surpasses 32,000 not including the thousands buried under rubble
‼️ Israel seized 1,977 acres of West Bank land for settlements, the largest land theft since 1993

🏥 Israel’s siege on Shifa Hospital enters 5th day as they bomb & demolish buildings with bulldozers; abducting 240+ patients & 10 medical staff from radiology unit. IOF forces ordered trapped patients to surrender despite continuous heavy gunfire
• 50 Palestinians abducted incl. 4 kids during 60+ Israeli military raids across West Bank in 2 days. Marking March 20 “one of the deadliest nights recorded to date” in 2024 in West Bank w/ 7+ Palestinians killed. Israeli settlers also took over 20+ Palestinian residential structures
• UN aid mission to north Gaza for 7,500 people was denied by Israel
🇫🇮 Finland to resume UNRWA funding
March 24, 2024.
Day 170
🚨 Israeli forces lay siege to 3 hospitals, surrounding al-Amal Hospital forcing Palestinians to strip naked & leave; currently carpet bombing near Nasser Hospital & sniping anyone moving, while continuing aggressive 7-day seige on al-Shifa
• 84 Palestinians killed, 106 injured in Gaza in past 24 hours
• Israel denied thousands of Christians from West Bank entry to Jerusalem on Psalm Sunday, heightening military checkpoints. Israel’s apartheid system discriminates Palestinians’ freedom of movement, requiring permits for West Bank residents to enter, which is rarely granted. More info on Israeli apartheid: https://rb.gy/vjocrd + checkpoints: https://rb.gy/rabxt6;
• Israel to deny all UNRWA aid convoys to north Gaza, despite 70% of population subject to “catastrophic starvation”
• BDS launches boycott of tech company Intel due to its $25bn investment in new factory in Israel, the “largest investment ever”; on top of Intel’s $50bn+ investments in Israel in past 50 years
March 25, 2024.
UNSC CEASEFIRE MOTION PASSES
For the 1st time the Security Council managed to pass a ceasefire resolution. The US abstained while all 14 others voted yes
The US planned to veto if it didn’t mention the hostages so it “demands an immediate ceasefire for the month of Ramadan respected by all parties leading to a permanent sustainable ceasefire, and also demands the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages.”
But it doesn’t condition the ceasefire on a hostage swap the way done by the US draft that got vetoed by 🇷🇺 & 🇨🇳
It doesn’t condemn Hamas explicitly as the US wanted but it “deplores” all attacks against civilians & “all acts of terrorism” noting that it’s illegal to take hostages under int’l law. So it’s indirect condemnation
It expresses deep concern “about the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip,” calling for more efforts for more aid & to protect civilians. This is weak language
Better than nothing but not enough as people are slaughtered & raped.
Day 171 — Attacks on 3 hospitals
🚨 Israel escalates attacks on “safe zone” Rafah killing 30+, including women and children amid threats of looming ground invasion
• 107 Palestinians killed, 176 injured in past 24 hours
🏥 22,000 displaced Palestinians face worsening conditions in the European Hospital, one of the last functioning in Gaza, overcrowded with patients awaiting critical care
🏥 Israeli forces lay siege to further hospitals in Khan Younis forcing critically ill patients to evacuate the premises surrounded by complete destruction
🏥 Israeli forces open fire on medical staff forced to evacuate al-Amal Hospital amid continuous attacks on the premise leaving patients in critical condition, deprived of medical supervision
• Netanyahu cancels Israeli delegation trip to US over its abstention in today’s UNSC vote, calling it a departure from their long-standing support of Israel. Biden called the move “disappointing”
• Israeli assaults targeting homes in central Gaza kill 18
(No march 26 summary)
March 27, 2024

• Israel bombs residential building in Rafah, killing 15+ displaced Palestinians incl. 4 kids. Analysts say the Rafah bombings mark the start of a “silent” invasion
🏥 Ongoing Israeli attacks on Shifa Hospital kill 30+ people incl. a family living in a residential building near the besieged complex
• IOF abducts 30 Palestinians in overnight raids in West Bank cities
🇱🇧 Israeli airstrike in eastern Lebanon kills 2 people, an escalation as the bombing was far from south Lebanon, the usual battleground
March 28, 2024.
Day 173
🇮🇪 Ireland to follow Nicaragua and join South Africa’s ICJ case against Israel
• Israeli attacks on residential homes in Rafah kill 25 displaced Palestinians, incl. multiple children
• 76 Palestinians killed, 102 injured in the last 24 hours
• IOF kills 4 in central Gaza, forcefully burying them by bulldozers
🇺🇸 US state department report claims Israel is complying with international law, as US reviewed Israeli usage of US weapons in order to validate future arms exports
🇱🇧 Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon residencies kill 12 in past 24 hours with many still trapped under the rubble
• Two aid seekers remain in critical condition as Israeli snipers target the Kuwait Roundabout aid distribution point

I immediately identified with the 9th graders in the novel, Battle Royale. I was fifteen when World War II came to an end. By then, my class had been drafted and was working in a munitions factory. In July 1945, we were caught up in artillery fire. Up until then, the attacks had been air raids and you had a chance of escaping from those. But with artillery, there was no way out. It was impossible to run or hide from the shells that rained down. We survived by diving for cover under our friends. After the attacks, my class had to dispose of the corpses. It was the first time in my life I’d seen so many dead bodies. As I lifted severed arms and legs, I had a fundamental awakening … everything we’d been taught in school about how Japan was fighting the war to win world peace, was a pack of lies. Adults could not be trusted. The emotions I experienced then–an irrational hatred for the unseen forces that drove us into those circumstances, a poisonous hostility towards adults, and a gentle sentimentality for my friends–were a starting point for everything since. This is why, when I hear reports about recent outbreaks of teenage violence and crimes, I cannot easily judge or dismiss them. This is the point of departure for all my films. Lots of people die in my films. They die terrible deaths. But I make them this way because I don’t believe anyone would ever love or trust the films I make, any other way. BATTLE ROYALE, my 60th film, returns irrevocably to my own adolescence. I had a great deal of fun working with the 42 teenagers making this film, even though it recalled my own teenage battleground.

“FIRE-BOMBING TOKYO WON'T WIN, CLUB TOLD,” Toronto Star. April 1, 1942. Page 37. --- Rev. S. Allbright Sees Long Struggle Ahead Ere Victory --- "There is a long and costly struggle ahead, for downtown Tokyo can stand a bombing as, easily as downtown Toronto. Of course, if the residential section were bombed by incendiaries, it would make a frightful holocaust," Rev. S. L. Allbright told the Young Men's Canadian club at its supper meeting in the Royal York last night.
Mr. Allbright, who was formerly assistant pastor at Sherbourne St. United church, went to Kobe, Japan, in 1926, and with the exception of a brief furlough in 1933, has spent the rest of his life in Japan. until his return to Canada last year. "We are wondering what Japan's next step will be-whether it will be to carry the fight to Australia, Siberia or India. To keep on going. she must tackle all of them and it will be our opportunity if we are not too slow in grasping it," he declared.
In offering a solution of the world's economic problems. he asserted that all nations should have equal access to raw materials, but that access to markets would have to be regulated. "I do not believe that long range bombing of Japan is feasible at the present time, for although the bombers could make the trip with ease, it is much too great for a fighter escort. In my opinion. Japan has a two years' stock of reserve material on hand. but when the tide turns it will turn fast," he concluded.
The speaker was introduced by Clint Ellis. At a short business session officers for the coming year were nominated. The election will take place on April 14..

please note that Rosie the Riveter is American WW2 propaganda urging women to work in factories and shipyards during World War II, often to produce munitions and war supplies. and yosano akiko lived just long enough to see the first American air raid on japan.
(for reference, later in the war, a single American air raid would destroy 42% of the city of Yokohama, killing an estimated 7,000-8,000 people, mostly civilians. in total, American air raids on japan killed hundreds of thousands of civilians and rendered many more wounded or homeless. )
i also think it's important to acknowledge that in the last ten years of her life, yosano akiko became more militaristic and nationalistic despite decades of pacificism; she praised japanese imperialism and supported war with China, the US, and the UK. it's dark and ugly and discordant with her taisho anti-war poetry, but nevertheless, it's a part of her legacy.
bsd is fictional work, but it's steeped in and draws inspiration from multiple world wars and eras marked by militarism, nationalism, and imperialism. some stuff is going to be more obscure depending on your cultural context, but for prolific and well documented material like war propaganda, it's worth engaging with mindfully and with intention.

Not enough people on here talking about The Boy and the Heron doing for Imperial Japan what Pan’s Labrynth did for Spanish Fascism huh.
So they are both movies about a kid going into a fantasy world while fascism and violence is devastating our world around them. Del Toro makes the connection explicit by making the fascism of the real world extremely explicit and directly hostile to our protagonist. In The Boy and the Heron the war, militarism and it’s horrors are very much present - labor volunteers among elementary schoolers, patriotic parades of aging soldiers, the mention of the fall of Saipan (which brought down the government and made clear to those in power that Japan was doomed) those Zero cockpits and of course the ever present and unspoken horror of the firebombing of Tokyo, which runs through the film from the second you hear that air raid siren and see those embers falling through all the fire in the film.
But within the fantasy world we also have a cockatiel (?) “Duch” whose rallies looks like Mussolini and who acts like a Japanese militarist. Which is sinister and absurd and very funny. To say nothing of our protagonists war profiteer father charging in with a samurai sword and discovering that his antagonists are parakeets (and getting covered in bird shit). Indeed the Parakeets transforming into harmless birbs almost seems to be about the absurdity of fascism and militarism. In Pan’s Labrynth the fascists and militarists were the real monsters. In the Boy and the Heron they are ridiculous.

And then can we talk about how the tower that was built at the time of Meiji falls in 1944!?

There are so many interesting aspects of MHA worldbuilding/academia that we never got to see, and it pains me.
For a world that doesn't allow people to use their Quirks in public areas, how do 1A (bar Izuku, Kaminari, and Aoyama) have such control over their Quirks? Are there gyms or training facilities they can go to in order to train their Quirks? I'm assuming Yaoyorozu and Ida got some form of private training, given their wealth, and Todoroki had been trained by Endeavor from age 4/5.
How exactly do the work studies even function? They're optional and located all across Japan, so how do they make up the absences? How do they keep up with their schoolwork? Does UA pay for lodging? Why are the lowest ranked students in class even allowed to go on a work study if their grades are so bad? How has Oboro dying and the Shie Hassaikai raid not given UA even more bad press, considering that Sir Nighteye was killed and many UA students were injured? Nedzu mentioned "restarting" the work studies, so I assume maybe Oboro's death caused UA to pause them?
We also see in universe that the teachers disagree with Nedzu/the establishment on how UA should be run. Snipe didn't want the Sports Festival being held so soon after the USJ Attack. Present Mic was rightfully upset that his traitor theory was being shot down (wonder how they all felt when they found out he was right). All Might didn't like the first years being on work studies to begin with. Later on, Snipe, Cementoss, and Vlad King didn't want the work studies being made mandatory (though that last one was due to the HPSC).
It's funny you say this because I was actually somewhat thinking about this topic.
One thing that always nagged at me was that Yaoyorozu and Todoroki were really the only 1A students who were exemplary (I'm excluding Bakugou here for a second). It's supposed to be the best hero school in the world, yet it's only the two of them who actually show that off (with their quirk control, Yaoyorozu with her intelligence, and Todoroki with his raw strength). They should have been the expectation, not the exception.
Don't get me wrong, other 1A students like Kirishima and Tokoyami are good with their quirks, but not to the level that those two were at the beginning. To get into the greatest hero school in the world, you would expect more exceptional students. Even looking at a wider scope, the only other examples we can point to are the Big Three (and maybe Kendo but we don't see much of her skills beyond her fight with Yaoyorozu).
It would have been way more impactful for Izuku and Bakugou to get there and see how far behind they were (mostly Bakugou as Izuku already experienced this somewhat). Bakugou being the second best right of the bat makes no sense when Todoroki, Yaoyorozu, and Iida have (presumably) has the best training and tutoring possible (I will never stop being salty about Bakugou beating out Todoroki in class ranking, in what world does that even make sense). If this was going to be the best hero school in the world, there should have been students who have pushed themselves to the limits their entire life. Bakugou getting there and seeing that he wasn't any more special than everyone else would have been way more impactful. They both should have spent more time playing catch up.
But I'm rambling. UA in and of itself is just messy and the story just doesn't go into depth past surface level in any aspect. The only time Horikoshi starts to do this is with Lady Nagant, but even then a lot of society and its impact on her is left in the air
