Reviewing everything on Ravus made me kinda sad. When I first played I hated Ravus. But he was the only character who knew things were “fated” a certain way by the gods and he still tried to change it.
Luna, Noctis, Ardyn, they’ve all resigned themselves to their chosen fates (granted, Ardyn did try to resist but Bahamut took care of that…). Only Ravus is like, no, fuck all that. There’s something really honorable in that, and it made me think maybe him trying on the Ring of Lucii wasn’t as arrogant as I once thought.
And honestly screw the Kings and Queens of Lucis! They rejected Ravus because he ultimately served his sister’s interests, not Noctis’. And I’m supposed to root for the Kings and Queens who have fucking Somnus as their founder?
I’m glad in Dawn of the Future we got to see more of the characters resist their fates. But Ravus is cool in my book. And his song Ravus Aeterna is one of my favorites!

I'm working on a terrain piece in preparation for hopefully actually getting to play sometime soon, and my hobby store had these cool statue plinths that inspired me to make a memorial statue to what is part of the backstory for 3 out of 4 of my imperial armies.
Essentially, during the Noctis Aeterna which was a consequence of the 13th Black Crusade, the Ophelia system came under attack by the forces of chaos. Now because my homebrew knight house is also based there and was always allied with the sororitas on Ophelia VII they fought alongside them and the Ophelian Guard (Which is the Guard of my houses homeworld Ophelia V) to defend the system until they were eventually all bailed out by the newly resurrected Lord Commander Guilliman. While this war damn near wiped out the already relatively small House Deimos, they came out of the ordeal with a greatly reinforced faith in the Emperor and a now formalised and strong-as-adamantium bond with the sisters of battle. As such this event has quickly become the single most important point in the houses history and it is copiously commemorated on Ophelia V with memorials to those lost and to their new alliance as well as statues of their ultimate saviour, Robute Guilliman.

“As with most members of the Ten Thousand, both the full name and the specifics of tribune Felis Silvestris Juvenilis’ service remain shrouded in mystery, known only to his fellow Custodians. What is known, however, paints him not just as a mighty warrior and a wise leader - both characteristics inseparable from the image of the Emperor’s own guardians - but also as a great administrator and diplomat - traits no less inherent to Custodians, but far less known beyond the walls of the Imperial Palace.
What meager records are available on the history of Adeptus Custodes suggest tribune to be one of the most senior serving members of the organization, the length of his vigil rivaling that of the most ancient of the Moritoi. It is said that amidst tribunes he is the one who manages the often overlooked supply and logistics aspects of Adeptus Custodes operations. While appearing somewhat unglamourous to an outside observer, these tasks are held in great respect by Custodians themselves, not in the least because they include the duty to oversee the process of selection, creation and training of new Custodians.
It is in duties of such caliber that tribune Felis is said to have excelled for aeons, and excelled to such a degree that, according to some, he is viewed as something of a father figure by many of relatively younger Custodians. Though extremely unverified, such rumors are somewhat supported by the fact that the latest election for the position of Captain-General saw tribune Felis as a popular candidate, beaten narrowly - rumors say by as little as three votes - by Trajan Valoris.
At the same time, it is evident that tribune’s service was not limited to internal matters of Adeptus Custodes throughout the eras. Several records name him as the custodian who brought Alicia Dominica before the Emperor to put an end to Goge Van Dire’s reign of terror during the Age of Apostacy. He also appears in much more recent imperial history, leading a delegation of Emissaries Imperatus to help negotiate peace after the disastrous events of the Damocles Crusade.
His most well-documented exploits, however, come at the break of the current era, as the Noctis Aeterna fell upon the Emperor’s domain. According to fresh tomes within the Imperial Archive, not long before the outbreak of Cicatrix Maledictum, it was tribune Felis who came to Captain-General with concerns about how the decline and near extinction of their sister order, the dreaded Anathema Psykana, left Adeptus Custodes weakened against immaterial foes, their ability to carry out their duty compromised by millenia of passivity. The two held council, and Captain-General ordered tribune to begin the process of restoring the second Talon of the Emperor to its former glory. Subsequent events, culminating in the Battle of the Lion’s Gate, would prove both the wisdom of this decision, and the near-lateness of it.
Though begun in advance, the process of gathering and rebuilding strength of the Silent Sisterhood was nowhere near complete when the eighty-eight cohorts of Khorne struck at the Imperial palace. But it was due to this process that enough sisters were gathered at the orbit of Luna to intervene in another, no less critical battle. For it was then that an ancient aeldari webway gate, dormant for many millennia, awakened on the surface of Terra’s moon to let out none other than primarch Roboute Guilliman - miraculously resurrected and returned - and his companions, fighting a desperate retreating battle against pursuing forces of the Crimson King himself - the treacherous daemon primarch Magnus the Red. And it was just as primarch and his forces were about to be overwhelmed that tribune Felis Silvestris Juvenilis led Talons of the Emperor - fighting together for the first time in living memory - to the aid of the Avenging Son. His malignant spells weakend, and his body cut by Guardian Spear and Executioner Blade, the treacherous primarch was driven back and his warriors slain, with tribune himself cutting off three feathers from the wing of the daemon, which he now bears upon his armour as a reminder that no foe, however great, can step within the system Solar.
Thus the life of the primarch was saved, and through that, the defenders of the Lion’s Gate relieved, legions of Khorne crushed, and foundation laid for the beginning of the Era Indomitus itself.
At the time of this record’s creation tribune Felis is thought to be primarily operating on Terra, assisting with continuing restoration of the Anathema Psykana and representing Adeptus Custodes within Senatorum Imperialis in Captain-General’s absence. A singular navigational record, however, documents his visit to Nocturne for an unknown purpose, while another report speaks of him leading an embassy to the Fabricator-General of Mars…”

I haven’t been able to do much drawings about Kissians, but I’m working on a short story about my Killteam-squad: Heroes of Hab44. The name comes from the war for hive-city of Kissia primus  during “the horror”, which was the betrayal and chaos invasion of the world during the terrible Noctis aeterna. The inhabitants of hab44 hold out 3 months of siege until it was liberated, and the survivors had become hardened professionals of guerrila and tunnel warfare. Now they all belong to a veteran special unit used for infiltration and covert operations. In the pic we can see one of the unit sergeants during the final battle for the Kissia primus, when the remaining Sacred band warriors and the chaos-tainted traitors were purged from their final hiding places in the palace complex of house Dungar.

Here and Now
(Somewhere, sometime, repeatedly, many, many years ago…)
Tumblr media
<<It’s time… again.>>
(And then, once more.)
(April 29, 2011: 11:58:47 Universal Standard Time. Her Office.)
“…”
Tumblr media
“…say what you want to say.” Itchy intoned coldly to the Warmaster.
Hazuki ignored the little blighter, still focused on that blue marble on the horizon, her eyes unblinking.
Ignoring the large amount of food and tea she had consumed to distract herself… Even she, the most blessed agent of the Officios, the coldest of all killers, found herself full of rage on this most ruinous of nights.
The Egg’s energy above the fortress continued to ebb and flow, practically leaking with anticipation.
Hazuki knew what was about to happen, and she KNEW she could prevent it, interfere with that creature’s plans.
But the Incubator of the First Officio, the Primus inter Pares, forbade it. Not one member of this elite cadre would leave Luna to fight the laughing terror.
Of course, it was blamed on the possibility of an Akashic storm caused by Walpurgisnacht’s natural energy blossoming into the noosphere, and based on the precedent endorsed by the Tokyo Consensus and the Great Exile (and, for those with knowledge of the Egg and the one officially known as ‘Faust’, the possibility of a different cosmic entity using the Witch of Witches as an excuse for more unending terror)… but Hazuki knew.
She knew what the Incubator wanted, what the Plan required.
And, what’s worse - she UNDERSTOOD the creature’s reasoning. It was, as always with the Incubator of the First, a logical decision based on the parameters set forth in the Great Plan.
But even she, Hazuki Amane, Warmaster of the First Officio Assassinorum, Supreme Leader of the People’s Imperium of Syraqhanistan, Most Honourable of Commanders, Killer of Kings, the Light in the Dark and the Blessed Lady’s Harbinger…
Even she hated this. She despised that she could no nothing, and she despised that she understood what it meant for herself and her elites to remain on Luna as Terra began to burn.
“…tch.” The First said with a grunt. She stood up from the table as the sand in the symbolic hourglass almost completed it’s descent.
She ignored the wiggling tail of the alien on her desk, and instead swung her coat and it’s golden decorations over her shoulders with a single swift movement, summoning her Shield, a machine of blessed gold, to her side.
“Where are y—” Itchy began to whine, before a glare stopped it.
“I’m doing as you asked. I’m guarding the Moon from any potential threats. Myself and the Officio will be on standby, alerted to any issues at a moment’s notice…”
She glanced once more over to the Incubator, and to the hourglass, which had almost reached it’s limit.
“Incubator, this base is now under lockdown, as per your instructions… I suggest you get to safety.”
She began to march from the office as klaxons began to blare as the Moon felt the movement of blossoming magical energy cascading across the emptiness of space, a seething, burning light barely being suppressed underneath her shield, her boots ringing louder than any of the alarms.
“I wouldn’t want you to get hurt, after all.”
The final grain of sand fell from the hourglass, and the Noctis Aeterna began, as the despairing witch of all the world’s stage made itself known.
Walpurgisnacht had arrived once more.

As a graduating senior at SAIC, I am honored to participate in the Spring 2024 Undergraduate Exhibition along with my fellow seniors!
My piece in the exhibition is a short game (which I think of as more of a demo, or proof of concept), called Noctis Aeterna. It’s an homage to the point-and-click adventure games of the late 90’s and early 2000’s. As of now, the player is just able to look around one room and collect certain items. But, in the future, my goal is to have a whole mansion that is able to be explored, along with characters to interact with.
This short game is the start of a much bigger project that I hope to bring to life in the future.

For the fic recs ask: 🔁, 🛳️ and 📚
Hey 🖤 cool you're asking!
"A fic I re-read several times"
Oh my. Difficult....every so often I open up my AO3 bookmarks list and then get lost in reminiscening this or that story, its plot, some poignant lines, the thoughts I had associated with it and I end up clicking on the link and reading again (and getting stuck for an hour or two..). There were 3 fics though I went back re-reading several times, either as a whole or specific chapters: "Tabu" by Krissy Chaos (in German), "Prisoners" by Whitetail and "Voluptas Noctis Aeternae" by @lov3nerdstuff (@nightrose64 ). (Speaking of which, time to remind myself of some of its stellar chapters) They were positively haunting me for months, I laughed and tore up and fantasised about specific quotes and plot twists and was obsessed over them in general. Magnificent stuff.
"A fic which brought me aboard a new ship"
From all the possible gay ships with Snape, the only one I can somehow identify with is Snarry. Because of their special connection, the tension one might want to see between them...and because people usually write them in a very authentic way.
BUT. There was a fic I was recommended once, which I never expected myself to read because I can't see anything between them : Severus and Sirius Black. I was told it is harsh. Cruel. Hard to read. I took the challenge and never regretted it. "Walking the Monochrome" was tragic, intense, horrifying and complete, and Sirius' role made so much sense in his slow recognition of Severus and attchment, even though there was no smut at all. After it, I could well imagine them change
"A fic I'd display on my bookshelf"
Definitely "Moment of Impact" by suitesamba. It is much more a saga than a fic, one could seperatr it by length into a few different books. An amazingly serious series, much more complex than the actual books, to be honest. And the language. The continuity, the separate life the characters aquire... It's Severitus, one of my most favourite ships. Severus is magnificent there.
And then there is "Voluptas Noctis Aeternae" by @lov3nerdstuff . My first grown-up read fic I believe. So many chapters, so many episodes, such extraordinary language and character analysis, and even if unfortnuately still a WIP, I'd literally print it out if it wasn't so expensive. I fell in love with it from first sight and so I remained (Severus × OC).

I have to hand it to aeterna noctis, thank you for giving me a shortcut that shaves like two minutes off my travel time. All that pixel perfect platforming wasn't something I wanted to go through a second time.
But fuck you for making it even worse precision platforming that I can't even get through once.

Di coniugales tuque genialis tori, Lucina, custos quaeque domituram freta Tiphyn nouam frenare docuisti ratem, et tu, profundi saeue dominator maris, clarumque Titan diuidens orbi diem,                               tacitisque praebens conscium sacris iubar Hecate triformis, quosque iurauit mihi deos Iason, quosque Medeae magis fas est precari: noctis aeternae chaos, auersa superis regna manesque impios                               dominumque regni tristis et dominam fide meliore raptam, uoce non fausta precor. nunc, nunc adeste sceleris ultrices deae, crinem solutis squalidae serpentibus, atram cruentis manibus amplexae facem,                     adeste, thalamis horridae quondam meis quales stetistis: coniugi letum nouae letumque socero et regiae stirpi date.
‘Oh conjugal gods and you, guardian of the convivial bed, Lucina, and the one who taught Tiphys to rein in that new ship in order to tame the straits, and you, the fierce master of the fathomless sea, and the Titan who partitions the bright day for the world, and the radiance who provides a witness to the silent rites, three formed Hecate, and those gods whom Jason swore by for me, and those who it is more right for Medea to call upon: chaos of an eternal night, kingdoms averted from those above, unholy Manes, the master of the grave kingdom and the mistress snatched away with a better sense of faith, I call upon you with a voice despondent. Now, now, be present, goddesses, avengers of villainy, hair filthy with tangled serpents, having taken up the black torches with bloody hands, be present, just as you had been at my wedding, be hellish, and bestow death on the new bride, death on the father in law, and death on the royal line.’
