Sunset amongst the sands – dungeons and magic

Pixel art based for today based on videogame Exile for game console Sega Mega Drive. As I can see it is action rpg. I think it is interesting. Interesting adventure. And level up. Explore of some caves, something like this. Dungeons. I think.

And this is my drawing about the same theme. Sands. Desert land. There are lots of cities here, that have a ancient history. And lots of treasures in ancient dungeons. They are abandoned by mages. Jeans and elementals often prefer dungeons as a cover from hot weather.

Magic fairies are living in small oasis in forests. People say you even can see a unicorn there.

It is magic desert land. People say, that someone resurrect master of skeletons. And he starts to resurrect more skeletons. But it is far away from here. But you can check this rumor. Or that somewhere faraway there is a land of endless sunset. And if to go into another direction you can find region of extreme hot weather. From those places are goes elementals and demons.

These place has lots to discover. But main trouble for locals – it is big scorpions. They were summoned by some sorcerer-fool by mistake. And he cannot tame them.  Now they are problems for locals. If you to solve this - you will gain a big experience as explorer and adventurer.

Pixel art also based on game I like. And I played it before New Year. It is Bit Dungeons 2. Simple roguelike, action role playing. I like it a lot. So, this picture is also about such action rpg. About desert theme.

As it is a free travel through the world. Explore locations. And as idea  - to check rumors. About some treasures or events. Which are happening in a world. You can travel any direction, check any rumor. Easy play game, as idea. It is pixel art only now. Travel for relax.

50 Days of Light

It is probably safe to say that the number of people in the world who have spent fifty straight days in Antarctica is relatively small. Surprisingly, after a decade of going on climbing and ski expeditions on Antarctica, this wasn’t even my longest season down there. That distinction goes to the 2009-’10 season when me and my partner completed a seventy day, 1200 mile ski crossing of the Antarctica landmass. Ironically, that was my first time partnering with Zeal Optics. While the 2021-’22 season was a long stint of work on the great “white continent”, it has over time become almost like a second home of sorts and a back of the napkin tally of days spent in Antarctica is closing in on a year of my life. It still feels like a privilege to experience the coldest, windiest and driest continent on the planet nonetheless. This year was stacked with a busy schedule of guiding work for Mountain Professionals. At the beginning of the season I stared down the gauntlet of guiding on four expeditions in a season. Climbing Mt. Vinson, the highest mountain in Antarctica, as well as the Last Degree (60 nautical miles) Ski trip to the South Pole. Though it takes a lot of pre-planning and packing to get ready for Antarctica trips, it is quite fun to take on the challenge of organization. It turned out to be a quite dynamic and interesting season in Antarctica as the covid-19 testing protocol was aggressive and merely getting into place in southern Chile proved to be a test of patience and paperwork. But once arriving back on the ice, it returned to a feeling of pure adventure in that remote location that is instantly inspiring. Over the course of December and January I made several ascents of Mt. Vinson, even tagging my own personal 10th summit of the highest mountain in Antarctica. As well, I guided clients on a ski trip that covered the last 60 nautical mile to the South Pole. There are challenges living in Antarctica for almost two months. Aside from the obvious… It is cold most of the time, it is difficult to be so out of touch with the world up north. With flight delays and some covid related issues that reared their ugly head, the multiple trips of clients I worked with this season seemed to stack up one after the other with no room for rest. But, all these little hurdles are just a part of leading expeditions in the end. Just being in the mountains or out on the polar ice cap sweeps away all the background noise associated with the challenges we face in the “real world”. After spending so many days working in row, I have to be honest, I was ready to leave Antarctica at the end of the season. To walk around in shorts and flip flops and have a coffee on some patio was a welcome change. But, it only takes a short time to miss that place, the one that has become the second home of sorts. I miss Antarctica already.

Fish explore ocean world caves

Pixel art for today based on videogame Ecco The Dolphin for game console Sega MegaDrive. 16 bit game about a dolphin. I think, I guess, I have a cartridge with this game.

Some game something this way I have for Sega. Game is little unusual. It is not action, but there is movements here, and move, process, dynamic it has. And you need to swim there. And a quest, adventure. Try to understand where to swim, what to do next. Game has rather interesting idea. It is unusual. And, of course, the sea. Ocean. You can see surface. And dive underwater. Two different worlds. Underwater and above the water. Such a contrast. Game makes impression about its deep and big world to explore. Swim what ever you want.

And this is my drawing about the same theme. Fish, big and small. All of them are swim to some direction. And above the water - it is standalone world. Sky. Islands with green grass. Such a strange everything, that is at the islands. When you are underwater creature. And under the water - its own world. World of water. A force, water mass. You can swim top, down, left and right. Any direction you can swim.

Fishes are swimming somewhere forward. Beyond the islands. Big sea. Ocean. There are lots of space there. And somewhere that direction all the fish is swimming. Fish likes when they have lots of free space. Fish is exploring a new ocean. It is planet of oceans. And a little of soil it has. About 30 percent of surface, that not under the water. And lots of not big islands. Islands has their own life. And everything else - it is different depth ocean. Sea. Water. Water planet. Blue color.

Fishes are exploring this place. They are also explorers. As a birds, that live in the high, and they fly from island to island. There are lots of islands here. And fish is exploring everything that is underwater. Sand. Some riffs, cliffs, underwater. And even a caves. There are big caves here. It looks, like someone with intelligence create this big caves, lots of them here, underwater caves. And they are like veins all over the underwater surface. Ocean here is not very deep. And fish can easy to reach most depth level.

Or all of these caves are made with one force. Force of water? Such a picture about theme ambient, explore. Open space, water. Ocean. So, a little strange. But about to explore. And water is everywhere. And so many questions.

Gothic 1 – under the sphere

So, it was over a steam sales, about a sometime ago. With my new PC – it is first such sales. So, it is a special event for me. I take a lots of games. So, also a retro games. So, I take by sales Gothic. A whole pack. First three parts.

So, it is some connection with first gothic. So, I have remembered, how my brother buys this game, a very good edition with this game. So, it was two cd. And game do not run at Pentium 2 machine. So, it should be not enough of 8 mb video memory. And, game can be started - but too much freeze. Too much to play. And, it is a good to see from a first sigh, that it is a 3d role playing game. Everything is in full 3d. And, I guess, it is very well-done game with a big details. Some world under a magic sphere. It is everything I know. And as it is in good role playing game - everything has some details – dialogues, battles. And I heard, that game has its own way of control hero, very specific control.

And, now I have already in my steam collection three parts of Gothic. I start first one. And I like its graphic from a first time. It is good enough. So, I think, it was added resolution for steam and maybe something else. But it looks rather good. Graphic is beautiful. World is interesting. So, it is a thing, I can say at once.

We are sent with special message into the world under a magic sphere. It is a prison. But, as idea, it is a world. There are some camps here. And, lots of place for adventure, as I get it. It is standalone government is there under the sphere. Better to say, three fractions. So, I think, there are three fractions there. In this place, they get ore from mines and some stuff and send it to the upper world. Above magic sphere. And from upside - all goods are going in exchange. It is a logic.

It is started with a road. And you can look around. Big map. And we go through mountains, there is some little plain. And you can get that game has a big world. And with details to explore. You can do different things. You can collect grass, search items, check chests. There is iron sword near a tree, you can take it.  If to look carefully. I do not find it at first time. Explore - it is a big part of a game.

And I am surprised with dialogs. They are very variative. Lots of information you can get from them. They are with voice. And even with Russian voice. It is a very big level of details in the world. It is not surprise, that Gothic was a very popular game. And it is a legend of role playing games. For those, who likes details in game with talks, explore and battles. Like Fallout 2, Baldur’s Gate. Every such game is good in its own way. And Gothic is done – by its own way. And it is interesting to explore what is going on here.

And we meet two hunters. And you can speak with them. To ask questions. They ask for items in exchange with advices. They can teach you skills. And some ostrich something like enemies. Rather simple enemy. You can get some experience. As it should be in a complex RPG.  World is amazing.

So, later we are in a camp. So here we have even more to speak. Characters. You can speak almost with everyone. And several of them will say to you something valuable or interesting. So, it is already going quests, some small quests. Some, they have in a camp - some mysterious swamp humans. Ktulhu something, they have in a swamp.  And I am in camp near a castle. And there is fraction, that select as a god, they worship some swamp creature. And they can see it in their dreams. And everyone thinks that these people from swamps are mad.

There is change of day and night. Very smooth. And I even do not take into account, that I was already in the night time.  So, I can say, that my first attempt was you see the game. Game is big. With its own fantasy medieval.
