Aditha Karikalan and Nandini
ok so like i just watched ps2 and OML the scene bw aditha and nandini actually destroyed me. i would literally pay to watch the movie again JUST to see their confrontation. the music, the visuals UGHH just everything was amazing.
so many people analyzing it from aditha's pov but let's look at it from nandini's view. she intentionally invited aditha to meet her. she's going to meet her childhood sweetheart, her first love who completely destroyed her life. she despises him. she hates him. she will kill him. she wants vengeance. not only for veerapandiyan, but for the royal life she was denied TWICE. both times because of the cholas.
but all thoughts of revenge go away once she sees him. because she doesn't see the blood-thirsty, war-hardened warrior who beheaded veerapandiyan without second thought. she doesn't see the carefree young prince who took her on horse rides all those years ago. she instead sees an anguished, tormented man, wracked with guilt. haunted by the horrors he's done.
nandini meant to show her superiority when she tells ravidasan he cannot possibly accomplish a task even she can't. but as she looks at aditha, she realizes that it's true. aditha won't let himself be killed by anyone else. only nandini can do it. in his eyes, dying by nandini's hands is his only way to redeem himself, at least in death.
how can she kill him now? her love for him, buried beneath her hate slowly springs back. she wants nothing more than to forgive aditha, accept his idea and run away, leave this conspiracy, this revenge and all this hatred in her heart behind. she wants playful games of hide-and-seek in the forest. she wants horseback rides by the banks of ponni at sunset. she wants the innocence and happiness of her childhood. because as much as she is HIS nandini, he his HER aditha. she doesn't know how not to love him.
but she's too far gone. it's not only about her anymore. the fate of a kingdom rests in her hands. she remembers her promise to veerapandiyan. she remembers how aditha refused to listen to her, even as she begged at his feet. she remembers how chola soldiers stormed into her house and forced her to flee. sembiyan maadevi's disapproval. kundavai's taunts. every injustice comes to the forefront of her mind and she is able to hate him again, for a fleeting moment.
she wishes she was stronger, because now aditha is pushing a dagger into her hands. she's close, so very close to her goal. barely a hair's breadth separated the dagger and aditha when she realizes she can't do it. she can't kill him. she CANNOT be the one to snuff out his life.
in the dark, aditha talks softly. no more yells, no more sarcasm, no more pleading. he speaks from his heart. he tells her that the man she loved died long ago. she starts to cry. she wants to yell that it's not true. the man she loved is here, right in front of her eyes, begging her to kill him. how can he ask that of her?
aditha embraces her. she's screaming now. because, this is all wrong. she cant do this. she cant. with whatever strength she has, she tries to stop the dagger from going in. but here again, she's weak. before she knows it, aditha goes limp in her arms. he stops breathing. he falls to the floor. nandini clings onto him desperately. she screams loudly, because surely aditha would hear her pain and come back. he doesn't.
someone drags her away. she's not sure who. she doesn't care. her hand remains outstretched. her fingers burn with the touch of his skin, his blood. as his face fades from her view, she catches a ghost of a smile on his face. a happy, satisfied smile. the one her aditha karikalan wore. he's finally at peace.
people die many times. nandini died again, for the last time.

Him and Her (VanMozhi)
These two will be two reasons why I will end up single all my life.
Re-visiting these edits after a long time made me giggle and blush.
Tumblr media
The above sequence just made me smile and started to earn more of the majestic King and his Innocence flower.
Tumblr media
The above sequence made me scream in joy and awe. The way he looked at her made my heart pound, and damn, this is where I fell in love. Definitely missed in theatres.
Tumblr media
Lastly, no words can explain the scene where they share close proximity, and with a sly smile, he lets her know he is hers without saying anything! Damn, just take my Heart VanMozhi.

Fanfiction prompt: Someone advises Vanathi to be vary of Kundavai
Does Vanathi know the complete history of Kundavai and Nandini?
When they first met, Kundavai was so jealous of Nandini and called her owl-faced and bullied her. She didn't like her brothers interracting with her. But after Aditha Karikalan left for a battle, she and Nandini became best friends. When Karikalan returned after two years, he observed that Nandini's expensive clothes and jewellery were gifted by Kundavai. Nandini was shy to talk to him as in the old times but he seeked her out and both fell for each other, which angered Kundavai. Even at the end, she considered Nandini a gold-digger who pursued Veera Pandyan and her brother.
Has Vanathi ever imagined the consequences of offending her Kundavai akka in some manner? If she wasn't the Kodumbaloor princess but just another orphan girl like Nandini, she wouldn't have been considered to even dust Arulmozhi's sandals. Kundavai starts dreaming about the lost opportunity to end Chola-Pandya war by conducting Nandini-Aditha Karikalan marriage after she learns that she could have been Veera Pandyan's daughter.
Maybe it is one of the disgruntled girls in Kundavai's retuine who tells Vanathi that her position isn't as enviable as she thinks. How will Vanathi react? Will she find solace in the fact that she is actually a princess with the backing of a powerful clan and doesn't have to worry about hypothetical scenarios?

Alright, i know this isn’t the kinda post one would expect on my page, but hear me out.
The poster right here is of the Tamil movie that’s releasing tomorrow, “Ponniyin Selvan”. Ponniyin selvan loosely translates to ‘River Cauvery’s son’, and this film is based on the 70 year old, 5 volume novel of Kalki.
Let me explain why this story is so dear to Tamil people, and why Indians should celebrate it just as much as they do the epics such as Ramayana and Mahabharat;
The author of this novel, Ramaswamy Krishnamurthy alias Kalki, was an Indian freedom fighter, who went to jail a few times. This novel, according to him, was a way of reminding Indians that they have a history of their own. Mind you, this is after 200 years of colonialism.
This spectacular novel is based on the Kingdom of the Cholas, and is set in the 9th century which was the peak of the Chola Empire. The story can be classified as a historic fiction, as some of the main characters are fictionalised or even completely made up in order to appease the “outsiders” that is us.
‘Ponniyin selvan’, or the Son of cauvery, is the name given to King Raja Raja Chola I. He has two siblings, Aditya Karikalan, who is the Crown Prince, and his elder sister, Kunthavai (Koon-da-vy) who is the princess of the Chola Empire and basically controlled everything. Their dad, Sundara Chola is the emperor of the Chola Empire but is bed ridden during the time of the story. All the characters I mentioned till now are real people, who have been mentioned in carvings and historic artifacts preserved till this day, but the characters I’m about to write about next are fictionalised characters by Kalki. One might think, since the title of the novel is “Ponniyin Selvan”, it only makes sense that Raja Raja Chola is the main character, but NOH. The main character, the character who travels and whom we travel with, is Vanthiyathevan (Vun-diya-devan). It is important to know that Vanthiyathevan isn’t entirely fictionalised, he is also mentioned in history, but not till the extent of the description given in the novel. Last but not the Least, my personal favourite, Nandini. She invented the word supervillain. I’m serious, the more you read about her, the more you grow to hate and like her at the same time. She’s such an incredibly written character that at times it’s so unbelievable that she’s not actually real. Her thirst for vengeance and power is what sets the course of this entire story.
Now let me give you a brief intro to this story (and try not to spoil anything eee)
Aditya Karikalan (The Crown Prince) sends his good friend and trusted messenger, Vanthiyathevan, to deliver two letters to two members of his family. His father Sundara Chola, and his sister Kunthavai. He also sends him on a mission, to find out what and who is conspiring against him in his homeland, while he’s fighting wars up north.
This journey of Vanthiyathevan, is met with a lot of hurdles and he also meets a lot of people who help him with his tasks such as his old friend Kandhamara, whom Vanthiyathevan previously fought in a battle with, Nambi, who is a staunch believer of Vaishnavism and an absolute mastermind, often wears metaphorical masks around certain people, Chendan Amudhan, who is…an interesting character (that feeling when u really wanna say something but don’t wanna spoil). What forms the plot of the story is How Vanthiyathevan delivers these messages? What is conspiring against Aditya Karikalan? Who is Nandini, and why does she want revenge?
Ok i know that was a bad summary, but i literally could not say anything without spoiling stuff.
So the main reason why I wanted to post about this was because I feel every Indian should know about the rich history of our country and the Chola Empire, which ruled the entirety of India at one point. So I urge all of you to read some background in wikipedia and watch the movie cuz its a pretty damn good story.
Fin.

Muzhumadhiyin Pirainilavu
Kaanchi was celebrating their prince's return. Parakesari Aditya Karikalan had slain the Rashtrakoota king Amoghavarsha and had avenged his grand uncle's death at Thakkolam. The mighty sword of the Chola kingdom was returning home in victory and if that was not a significant cause for celebration , the young tiger , Arunmozhi was hastening to Kaanchi to welcome his brother and celebrate with the people.
All of Kaanchi was rejoicing , except for one person . All of Kaanchi was rejoicing , except for her mistress. Nandini Devi was fighting a migraine and severe irritation towards her idiot in law , who left no occasion to barge in on Kaanchi and provoke Vaanathi , the little moon of Kaanchi who was sister and daughter rolled into one.
Aditya and Nandini had known that they were going to be childless. Second chances in a kaalachakkaram seldom happened without sacrifices and Soodhani had demanded that they sacrifice their progeny and vamsakulam for a chance at forgiveness and life together and they had acquiesced. Just when they had reconciled themselves to Soodhani's harsh punishment , her benevolent grace bestowed Vaanathi into their care .
Their first days had been anything but calm . Vaanathi hated anything to do with the other members of the family and had thrown a tantrum worthy of royal brat when she had been introduced into Arunmozhi's circle. Full of simmering rage and quiet sorrow , Vaanathi had done everything she could to drive the young prince away even as the grand dames of Pazhaiyarai joked about childhood love and early marriage. Caught between brother and ward , past memories and current dilemma , Aditya and Nandini had been clueless about their next steps until the distant rumbles of war shifted their base to Kaanchi.
Days at Kaanchi were anything but peaceful , but there had been a sense of security , content and peace within the fort walls . That too had ended abruptly with the arrival of Arunmozhi and his unwanted chaotic courtship of their darling. It started when Arunmozhi had requested a message from Vaanathi for her beloved uncle enroute to Eezham. Soon , messages were flying back and forth between the southern coastlines , with the prince flying into fury and panic if any of his messages went unanswered but choosing not to answer pointed questions Nandini or her husband had asked of his intentions.
When an irritated Vaanathi had resorted to single line replies , the messages had been replaced by extravagant gifts. The softest silks , whitest pearls and ivory laid combs seemed more like appeasements than symbols of affection and their arrival had only stopped when her husband had indicated to his brother that those tokens were being donated and sold off to raise money for the karungalpani of the surrounding temples.
Despite these outwardly gestures of rejection , Vaanathi seemed to have feelings for Arunmozhi and the depth of those feelings had been exposed when Nandini's maternal family had requested an appointment to appraise her of mutual affection between Kuzhali and her brother-in-law. That night , they had found Vaanathi crying out in agony and pain , waves and waves of untold misery and unspoken grief washing upon her despite the comfort of Nandini's words and assurance of Aditya's arms.
Within the safe space of their chambers , their kanmani had broken down and finally revealed about her continued and wretched existence within the Kaalachakkaram. Her unsuccessful pursuit of love , the ensuing heartbreak , the unrelenting cruelty of her husband's silences whichhad caused Vaanathi to block her heart in this life ; Arunmozhi's cryptic messages and gifts that had yet again lead her to open her heart up , only for a cruel slap to land in the form of Kuzhali's alliance. Her last attempt at evading love had failed and the heaviness of unacknowledged and unrecognized feelings caused their crescent moon unrelenting pain.
Vaanathi's revelation had left them seething and angry. It had taken Aditya and Nandini centuries of prayers for a chance at a new beginning, and here was their kin carelessly squandering away Emperumaan's benevolence and unconditional love. As Vaanathi sobbed her way to sleep that night , Nandini and Aditya made a solemn vow to give their darling reprieve from pain and guard her from the thorns of Arunmozhi's shadow.
It was this promise that was causing Nandini an unmitigated migraine. Arunmozhi was coming to Kaanchi and protocol mandated Vaanathi's presence despite their promise to guard her from heartache. Nandini was pained by Vaanathi's descent into grief and so was the object of her desire , if his sorrowful glances were proof worth going by.
Accompanied by Panchavan Mahadevi and Kuzhali , Arunmozhi had descended upon Kaanchi and had sent Vaanathi into hiding. While his handsome presence , constant cheer and overt friendliness encouraged other women to present their suit , Ponni's son continued to look for his idhaya raani , eyes gazing at her with deep love and longing and something akin to worship during the few glimpses he had of her at the temple each morning.
Dreading yet another repeat of longing eyes and mournful gazes Nandini had confronted her brother-in-law a week later, only to be at the receiving end of a truly perplexing conversation about Sivaperuman's second chances and Kannapiraan's blessings of love interspersed by love confessions to Vaanathi and fervent denial of a relationship with Kuzhali .
Arunmozhi vowed that he loved no other than Vaanathi and blamed ignorance and suspicions for centuries of misery and mistreatment. He had begged the gods for a last chance , praying to any deity who would listen, only to be rewarded by his beloved's indifference. The sincere confession of his past mistakes and fervent assurance of Vaanathi's happiness moved Nandini enough to respond thus :
"Maithunare , kaadhal velipadutha vendiyathu. Sollal , Seyalal appattamaaga velipadutha vendiyathu. Kaadhal nambappada vendiyathu , potrapada vendiyadhu , edhuthu theriya vendiyathu . Thangilin sandhegamum , mounamum en kanmanyin idhayathai kurudakkivittana.
Samudrakumariyin ellai meeralgalukkum , panchavan deviyin elanam mirka sorkalukkum neenagal kurudagivittadhal , en kanmaniyin kaadhal oomaiyaagi vittadhu. Ungal kaadhalai appattamaaga velipaduthungal , adhu vazhiyil irukkum innal , thandagal ellavatraiyum murikkum arumarundhaaga maarum".
Arunmozhi followed her advice to the T. In the days that followed , he made a public vow to stay monogamous , in a move reminiscent of Aditya. He then negotiated a betrothal for Panchavan Mahadevi with the next unmarried prince in line to the throne , only to turn around and bequeath the said throne to Kandaradithar's line. A public rejection of Kuzhali's affection soon followed , with Arunmozhi stopping her cousin from shadowing him. In a decisive tone , much like that of her beloved husband , Arunmozhi had denied all feelings but friendship towards Kuzhali and vowed to marry Vaanathi and no other.
Her crescent moon had smiled that day. Nandini had seen such joy and love in her kanmani's countenance that it had reminded her of the beautiful moon on a Chitra Pournami night. Vaanathi's journey of love had began but had a long way to go. Centuries of hurt were seldom undone by a single gesture , but the overt glances , entwined hands and secret embraces she and Aditya had interrupted in the last few days indicated that her pseudo daughter and her idiot brother in law were well on the way of a fully healed , emotionally fulfilling journey of love.
Content and happy , Nandini sighed and leaned against the mandapam wall , only to be surrounded by her thevar's embrace and blanket of love. As she turned around to kiss his heart , his embrace tightened and she couldn't help but remark " Thevare , nam vaanathaiyin mugathai paartheera ? kaadhalin poorippil nam kuzhandhaiyin azhagu pallayiram madangu koodivitadhu allava" . Aditya hugged her tighter , sniffed her jasmine scented hair and laughingly remarked " Aam Devi , en muzhumadhiyin pirainilavu , ippothellam kollai azhagaathan therigirathu"

Whoever did the costumes and jewelry for Ponniyin Selvan was top-notch and made great choices.
Arulmozhi and his brother Aditya wear double tiger claw pendants. Besides being important to signify courage and bravery, it’s also particularly appropriate because they are princes of a dynasty that uses the tiger as its symbol. (You can see the red Chozha flag with its pouncing tiger in many scenes.) Aditya, who we almost always see in his armor, also has the tiger worked into that very same armor where the leather protects his upper legs. Fur also fringes his shoulder pads, again evoking a tiger for Aditya whose personality is the most focused on physical might and combat.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Madhurantaka, brought up as a devotee of Shiva, wears garlands of rudraksha beads interspersed with gold. While other characters wear them as well, he wears the most, then tears them all from his chest in a scene where he verbally and symbolically rejects the identity of a devotee, declaring his ambition for the throne and saying he was never interested in leading a life devoted to Shiva to begin with. (I’m not sure if I’m remembering correctly, but I think he also wears a lot of white when we first see him on screen, mirroring the white worn by men and women associated with temple for its purity. It would be interesting if he stops wearing white completely in the second part of the film.)
Tumblr media
While the Chozha characters wear gold, Ravidasan and the rest of the Pandyas are all wearing silver. The only gems they have are on their slain king’s sword, and the beads they wear look to be made of natural materials rather than precious metals. Along with the fact that they now must live in the forest, the dull silver jewelry and how they dress is a strong visual indicator of their status compared to the Chozhas. They’re also all wearing black and dark red. Beyond visually matching the image of Kottravai with smeared blood for her, the heavy amount of black in the Pandya’s clothing mirrors how they have remained in the shadows, planning to murder a Chozha prince in revenge. It’s like a symbol of ill will and matches the fact that Ravidasan is one of our antagonists for the first movie.
Tumblr media
The great hair choices in this movie are difficult for me to talk about because I’m not sure I can articulate it very well, (let alone completely), but I think they also fit each character very well. In Arulmozhi’s first appearance, his hair is oiled and combed back around his head in a nice, controlled and neat style. But when we first see his brother Aditya, his hair is unbound and flowing around him. It’s more energetic and matches his passion for fighting and the intensity of the anger and heartbreak that he feels, which itself feeds in to his need to fight to distract himself. Even if both brothers change their hair during the movie--of course Arulmozhi’s is more unkept while he’s actually fighting--how it appears in their first scenes is important in establishing the audience’s impression.
Ravidasan also has a lot of intensity and motivation for fighting, and he shares that long, loose hair with Aditya, but it’s also messier. (I don’t think he ever ties it back or binds it up in any way?) He and the other Pandyas have separated themselves from the rest of civilization to live in the forest, and they’re still focused on the calamity of the death of their king and destruction of their rule. The fact that Ravidasan has probably not conditioned or oiled his hair since the day his king was killed--and has focused purely on revenge and a will to fight since then--perfectly matches how the team of Ponniyin Selvan chose to style his hair.
Finally, the very long and neat hair of Oomai Rani combines with the white color palette they gave her to build a very specific impression of her character. It’s not the same as the reason Aditya and Ravidasan have unbound and more wild hair than other characters either. (Other men have long hair as well but it’s generally combed back or something like that.) Again, I have not read Ponniyin Selvan, but her appearance plus the fact that she has mysteriously shown up out of nowhere twice to save Arulmozhi made me think of the quality of shakti. I’m not sure how else to talk about it.

"Have I ever refused to play a hand you've dealt, Nandhini?" Her gaze falters when that name crosses his lips, rushing to seal a decade's gap and settling there as if it had been caressing his lips all this while.
"Shouldn't have dangled him in front of me in the first place."
"Hurt him - Karikalan," if his voice had been longing, hers is loath personified. "And I swear I-"
"You've sworn a lot of things, love. Don't tempt me into testing how many of these new oaths you plan to honor."
There was a dark edge to his look, one full of resentment and accusation. Misplaced, but Nandhini did not feel inclined to correct him.
"I don't care if you've taken thousand lovers and made them thousand promises. It's your life, live it as you wish. But dare not try to lay its blame on my door. That I have played you into this, made you into this. I could if I want to."
On a whim he draws her closer, watches how her lashes flutter against his exhale.
"You've just handed me your reins, out of your own free will Nandhini. You can't make me guilty for tugging on them now."
"Your hatred has blinded you!"
"Maybe. Maybe I'm seeing for the first time. I'm seeing that you are willing to remain where you are neither wanted, nor appreciated to keep your word to that dead Pandiyan - when you wouldn't, you didn't stay where you were honored and cherished despite your word given to me!"
Her nails, when they dug into his arm drew blood. Nandhini didn't care.
"Oh?" Her voice drops into a hiss.
"That's what you see? You think - what exactly do you think? Honored? Cherished? As if Tanjavur was lying at my feet!"
"I would have laid that and more at your feet! I would have -"
"And yet, this is what you think of me now." With a forceful tug Nandhini freed herself from his grasp and stepped back.
"This is where we stand. I'm a woman from a fallen city and you are its conqueror. Do not cross this line."
"No. You are a woman of the empire and I am its heir."
Despite the venom in her eyes, so stark for him to see, Aditha cannot help himself but take a step closer. The eternal night of those eyes is bottomless, simmering with an emotion that he struggled to put a finger to.
"And I swear by you, they are yet to draw a line that I would not cross for you."

It's been a week and I'm still thinking about the Nandini-throne scene. So I'm gonna gush about it some more.
As someone who didn't read the books, my knowledge of the characters and their motivations were wholly reliant on the movie. And up until that scene, I was trying to figure out where Nandini's loyalties lie and what her motivation is.
At first I thought she's loyal to her husband then we see her help Vanthiyathevan only for her to immediately sell him out to her husband and then in a surprise twist we see her conspiring with the Pandya spy. Even after Karikalan tells his story, her motivations remain a mystery because the story was so one-sided and its obvious there's more to it.
And so when we see her look longingly at the throne as she envisions her younger self sitting on it, everything about her character becomes crystal clear. We still don't know alot of her character history but we know what's most important. That Nadini is loyal to no man or kingdom. She is loyal only to herself and the throne is what has motivated her all this time.
The scene doesn't just introduce us to the true Nandini but it also recontextualizes the whole movie. Nandini was always a major player in the movie but after that scene the audience realizes that she IS the mastermind behind it all and the only one truly challenging her at this point is Kundavai
I also think it's such a clever way of translating what I'm sure is a lot of rich source material about her character into a simple and elegant scene.
Like I said before, i have CHILLS

ULLANGKAVAR KALVAN - ArunMozhi & Vaanathi Oneshot
Thodudaiya seviyan vidaiyaeriyor thooven mathi soodi~~~ thodudaiya seviyan vidaiyaeriyor thooven mathi soodi kaadudaiya sudalai podi poosi en ullangkavar kalvan~~~~~ kaadudaiya sudalai podi poosi en ullangkavar kalvan
As she sings those words with small tears peaking out of her curtain-like eyelashes, as whimpers out the song again and again with so much to say yet to remain in silence.
She was relieved when she was finally able to see the love of her life breathing and slowly healing from the fever he got by facing death. As she sat on the balcony facing the ocean where the sky meet it and how conjoin both sky and sea. But in reality, they never get to touch each other, never cherish their longings same as she is now.
As thoughts clouded her mind, her bad luck and inferiority peaked in. She was neither the beauty nor the brave. She doesn't have anything to give to her Prince who is the combination of everything she is not. As her tears clouded her eyes just like thoughts she hoped that she can at least be near him even if it is not as his wife but even as a woman who can help him to be well.
As she and her akka Kundhavai arrived at Eezham to check on their most loved prince. She was happy that he is alive and finally able to calm down after the storm she felt over the course of days.
But as she made sure her love is well and improving, she heard from the brilliant spymaster Nambi who told about the bravery of a boat girl who made sure the prince is alive and rowed the boat a full day to help get the prince here. How she is the Samuthirakumari and just how brilliant she radiates just like her name ' Poonguzhali'.
And Vaanathi felt proud by hearing about other women's will to help the prince. But she also notices how concerned Poonguzali was when she always sat next to his head while the Buddha Bakshi treated the prince. It was that time Vaanathi saw Poonguzhali, the mesmerizing beauty just like her name and her title, she radiates depth like an ocean. Her eyes held pure love and commitment.
How could she ever able to be something she never was? She is after all bad luck, that's what most of the people she ever met said to her. Her parents are dead, and because of her luck, she sent the lovable prince to Eezham back when she faints and causes this to him. How could she ever able to digest this? Everything about her is just bad luck. What Poonguzhali did is what the youngest Chola prince needs in his life. A companion that he can able to count on, who he can able to take with him alongside his battle, who was strong enough to save him in any situation, who is beautiful and full of strength, who would give him a child just as much as the warrior he is. She could never able to give anything she just listed for Samuthiria Kumari.
Her thoughts were cut off by her lovable Akka voice, which she is thankful for.
'Vaanthi, please be near Arunmozhi, I have to discuss something with Vanathiadevan' Kundavai told Vanathi and went to find the Vaanar Kulla Veeran. Even though she is nervous she always obeys her Akka, as in this world only a few love her without any expectations.
She peeked in find her love sleeping peacefully, his fever drastically decreased by gods grace. She went in and sat next to her prince and nervously placed her hands on his head and combed through his glorious and soft hair. As she closed her eyes and let her tears fall, she started to pray to Shiva, who always protects the prince. She is also thankful that she can be near him even though she may not be his wife or have those blessings this is more than she could ask for.
Mutral aamai ila naagamodaena mulai kombavai poondu Vatral odu Kalanaapali Thernd-enadh-ullam Kavar kalvan Katral kaettal Udaiyaar Periyaar Kazhal Kaiyaal Thozhudaetha Petram Urndha Piramaapura Maeviya
As she sings those lines she forgets her surroundings, it is just her and the prince who is the epitome of grace, handsome, glory, intelligent, and calm. Salt tears rolled down her smile graced her lips and fell down. If anything she can do to help her prince feel less pain is to accept his pain as hers, She prayed to god that every pain he is going through will fall upon her, and she would gladly take those and make her prince feel better, every bad thing that is meant to happen to him will fall on her and she makes sure to take those and give him all the joyous things that meant for her and him.  She repeated those again and again and whimpered that she is being useless among others, only thing she has herself is that she is born a princess and there is nothing exceptional about her, and how she doesn't deserve this beautiful and charming prince.
As tears flow down from her closed eyelids, she opened her eyes as she heard a murmuring. Her eyes widen as she realized that it is coming from Arunmozhi before her. She smiled and turned around to find if anyone coming in so that she can ask them to fetch the Princes and others, But she stopped and turned back to listen to what her prince is murmuring in his current state.
'Vaa-' His lips opened and closed quickly as she is unable to hear it properly.
'Vaa-na-thi' As the words fell into her eyes, her body froze and happy tears rolled out, She couldn't believe what she is hearing. She held his palm in her hand and caressed it softly. At this moment there is no one else who matters and it's just her and him. His eyelids slowly opened and his charcoal-colored eyes softly grazed her.
'Vaanathi' He whispered and smiled softly at her. The smile which spoke a million words, the smile which let her know that it is going to be ok. She returned the smile and thanked god.
Three days later.
As she stood watching the waves hit the grounds from her balcony facing the Eezham sea which slowly turned red as the sun started to set. They will be leaving for Thanjai tomorrow and she is nervous again. Where does she stand now and what she has to do on returning to Thanjai? Still, Ilavarasar is not entirely out of danger and she is scared for him. After the intimate moment that happened three days before she is all alone again and often she wondered whether she dreamt it or it really happened.
'Why your eyes are filled with sorrow?' A voice asked her from behind and she just know who is the owner of it even without turning around.
She smiled sadly and shook her head as she is unable to form words in front of him still.
'Won't I be blessed with your voice?' He asked and come to stand next to her. She lifted her eyes and shyly looked at her love with a soft smile. But her eyes hold so many emotions.
'It should be me who would feel blessed to be near you' Her words made him smile down at her. As he raise his hands and tucked the hair behind her ears, the close proximity makes her feel the light head and she prayed that she won't faint just another time in front of him. Her heartbeat raced to a level she doesn't even know if it was possible.
'So you like gazing at the ocean?' He asked and looked ahead of him to see the evening sky that had painted the ocean with its color.
'It makes me feel calm at times, my Ilavarase' She said and looked away from him to feel somewhat less nervous again.
'Why not all time?' He questioned her and she doesn't know whether she should be open about her feelings to him.
'Well other times, I wonder how the Sky and ocean feel to be close but yet never be able to get closer forever' Her answers made him smile as he knows what he is implying.
'Maybe that's what makes it more romantic even, that even with the distance they still don't leave one another. And Ocean yet makes sure to gaze at the sky every single time and the sky pours her heart out to him without missing a beat. So they both can taste each other's love' His words made her look at him as if he is answering all her doubts.
'Will you be my Vaan(Sky) my Vaanathi?' The Prince asked her, and she is surprised that he is asking permission when she is all his.
'How can I give you permission when I am already yours?' She said with tears falling down just like the sky pours down the droplet of water into the ocean.
Arumozhi bent down and attached his forehead against hers and circled his hands around and wrist and brought her closer. The scent of rain made them fall over each other again and again. As both their eyes gaze upon each other his lips brushed down hers softly just like the ocean drinking the droplets from the sky.
Her breath caught in her chest and her hands found their way into his hair she hold him for her dear life, fearing that her legs would give out if she lose him.
As they shared their kiss of love, the ocean and sky smiled at each other as they are finally able to be with each other forever.
Arunmozhi proved to her that she is his sky and he is her Ocean, both always be with each other no matter what.
After all, he is her 'Ullangkavar Kalvan'
