Triggers in Bio: Mafia, Illegal Activity, Parental Death

Born in Chicago to Jewish-Italian parents, Adina Milano never remembered much about her mother and father. She became an older sister around the same time both the two Milano girls were dropped off at their Nonna’s house (her father’s mother). Despite only being a half sibling to her sister, Adina never thought of her baby sister as anything but blood. Her nonna raised Adina and her younger sister since her parents never came back for them, for whatever reason. Her nonna was an Italian immigrant and her husband had passed before Adina was even born. Adina learned some Italian from her grandmother and found the same love for cooking and baking that her nonna had. During middle school, Adina first met Franco ‘Frank’ Inendino and it was love at first sight. The couple instantly connected despite being somewhat different. Adina was a shy, good girl whilst Frank was the leather jacket wearing bad boy. Their relationship grew throughout school years. When Adina ended up pregnant at the young age of 18, Frank immediately asked her nonna’s permission to marry Adina. She wasn’t sure what to think at the time, but Adina knew she would keep the baby and saw Frank’s proposal as him being real in his feelings. For those reasons, Adina said yes and the two were married a month before Vincenzo was born.

Adina knew of Frank being a bad boy, however she remembered the moment she met his father. It was the same night she was told of Frank’s involvement in the Chicago Outfit (Chicago’s Italian Mafia). Despite learning of this, Adina still married Frank. She figured Frank being in the mafia did not change who he was in her eyes. Even though her nonna was older now, the woman still helped take care of Vincenzo so Adina could graduate from high school. Adina knew college was not an option being a mother now, so the woman opted to stay home and care for Enzo while Frank was the primary breadwinner for the family. However, she still cooked and baked in her spare time so she sold cakes and cupcakes to friends for extra money. When Enzo was old enough to walk, the young boy often stayed by his father’s side. Adina never held that against her son, but she began to feel more alone the majority of the time. Frank and Enzo would be gone handling the “family business” while Adina stayed at home. Due to that, Adina started feeling concerned about her son’s safety and it became a constant fight with her husband.

When Vincenzo was around 6 years old, Adina’s nonna passed away from natural causes. Adina felt even more alone in her grief. There was some heat and threats put on her husband and due to their safety, the three packed up and headed to Boston, MA. However, they only lived in the city for a few weeks before Adina was tired of the busy city life. She wanted some peace and quiet for once. Frank moved the Inendino’s out to Bridgeport, ME, only 3 hours away from Boston. Her husband would commute during the week when needed for business affairs. It was when they arrived in town back in 1991, with the help of her husband, Adina opened up her dream business: an Italian-American bakery. She charmingly named it Adina’s Bakery and filled her time with baking recipes she learned from her nonna and building her new business.

Even with throwing herself into her bakery, Adina still struggled with the grief from losing her grandmother. It went on for years as she tried to maintain her fake smile and happiness to raise their son. Once Enzo graduated high school and started going with Frank to Boston all the time, Adina started to drink heavily to numb the feeling of being alone. Her sister noticed this and immediately called her out. It was what she needed to hear though. Adina cut back on her drinking and voiced her loneliness to Frank and Enzo. Her husband was blindsided by the words, while Enzo managed to figure out a way to operate the money-laundering from within Bridgeport through a new construction business. With her husband and son both around more, Adina felt happier than she had in a long time.

Where: Adina's Bakery

Walking into the bakery with the boys, Liv smiled at the sight of Adina. Enzo’s mother was a wonderful woman, and Liv liked her a lot. Liv could see where Enzo got some of his qualities from. Adina reminded her of her own mother in some ways, which was always a nice thing. Lately, Liv had been bringing the boys by to get a treat every so often and that was exactly what she was doing today. And of course, she always got something for herself too. “Hi, Adina! How’s your day going?” Liv asked, letting the boys go up to the counter to look at the sweets. “I figured I’d stop by since we’ve made a habit of doing this the last few weeks.”

Where: Sylvia’s House

“How are things goin’ at the bakery?” Sylvia asked her friend, pouring them each a glass of red wine. It was always nice to catch up with friends. Sylvia loved hosting people at her home, but she also knew she needed to get out more and stop living in her bubble of just work and home and Trace’s restaurant. Having grown up in such a conservative family, she struggled to branch out and let herself really enjoy life sometimes. “I was gonna stop in the other day but Leanne called me with an errand so I didn’t have time.”

After supervising several segments back to back, everyone was taking a break. Never one to turn down a treat, Cata made her way back to the booth serving baked goods and ice cream eager to get her hands on a few different goodies. Luckily she'd shown up during a lull so there was only one person in front of her and they finished up quickly. Standing in front and scanning all her options the raven haired producer was really struggling. Everything looked too damn delicious. “Adina, help me please. I can’t choose. Would you pick for me?” She asked the bakery owner hopefully.

Where: Liv & Enzo’s House

Liv was putting the finishing touches on the lunch she was making. She had invited Adina over for lunch and to of course give her the envelop with the twins genders in it. She was very excited to see her reaction, considering these would be her first grandchildren. Hearing the doorbell, Liv walked down the hallway and went to open the door. “Hi, thank you so much for coming!” Liv said, a smile on her facial features as she pulled the woman into the hug. “You’ll have to excuse the mess, the boys being home for the summer has completely ruined my nice clean house,” she laughed. “There’s toys everywhere, and Lucas has been getting into the pots and pans lately for some reason.”

Where: Leanne’s House

Liv appreciated all of the hard work that her mother and Adina did for the shower. Everything looked so great, and Liv knew her dad and Enzo had a hand in it too. Liv was very excited for Leanne to find out that one of the twins was in fact a girl, and she thought she did a great job at keeping that a secret. Sitting down with a plate of tacos, Liv was happy. Happy to have tacos, and happy to have her loved ones around. She didn’t even think she needed to have a shower for the twins, but Enzo deserved it as a first time dad and Leanne deserved the special moment of finding out she would be getting a grandson and a granddaughter. Deciding now was a good time to cut the cake, she gathered everyone and grabbed her mom’s hand. “Mom, can you do me a favor and cut the cake? You do it much better than I can, I’m better at eating the cake. Dad, you sit this one out please,” she laughed.

Triggers in Bio: Mafia, Illegal Activity

Born in the windy city of Chicago, IL, Vincenzo Inendino was the only child to an avid baker Adina and businessman Franco. It wasn’t the usual upbringing since his father, better known as Frank, was a capo in the Chicago Outfit (Chicago’s division of the Italian-American mafia). From a young age, Enzo stayed by his father’s side even during “business” affairs. His father owned a car dealership and a laundromat as fronts for money laundering for the mob. There was some heat being put on his father so the Inendino family ended up leaving the windy city and headed to Boston, MA when Enzo was 6. However, the family lived in Boston for a few weeks before Enzo’s mother wanted to live in more peace and quiet. Thus, the three ended up in Bridgeport, ME.

Once in Bridgeport, his mother made the decision to open her dream business: an Italian-American bakery. His father would commute to Boston during the week for work, but every weekend the family spent time together. Enzo always admired his father’s work ethic and even traveled with him to Boston to attend to “business” affairs a few times. When Enzo started school, his father wanted to teach him other skills he thought the young male should know… Like gun knowledge, leadership skills, inventory, money laundering, record books, and anything needed for mob affairs.

Throughout middle and high school, Enzo often hung around with the older cooler kids and it was then he met Eddie King. Vincenzo graduated high school with decent grades, however the male had no interest in college. Instead, the half Italian jumped right into working beside his father. Because of being taught the skills needed, Enzo excelled at business management and money laundering. In truth, the male was quite good with numbers. When the opportunity came for Vincenzo to open a family business in Bridgeport, he eagerly talked his father into purchasing a commercial building. At first, Enzo wasn’t sure what to do with the office space being he was young (26) and unsure of having that much power. Finally, Enzo figured out the perfect idea for attracting business in the small town and bringing in revenue for the cover of money-laundering - a construction company.

When he started the construction business, Enzo had no problem being the face of the company and handling all the finances. It was around that time he learned of his friend Eddie’s struggles with finding a job that would hire him since he was an ex-con. Enzo offered his friend employment and the two became good friends almost immediately. He vowed the male’s honesty and knew he could trust him, thus Eddie became Enzo’s right hand man. Enzo even learned a few things from Eddie in aspects of construction. The half Italian spent days at work and nights in the bars. He was quite charming with his slight Italian accent and had it easy with the women.

It was through his business that Enzo met Olivia. The pair fooled around for a few weeks before learning Liv was pregnant. Being a family man, Enzo immediately knew he would be there for his child. When he was told they were having twins (by Olivia’s mom, Leanne), Enzo was shocked at first but it was replaced by more excitement. Despite never being in a relationship before, the male admitted his true feelings to Olivia and they began dating. Shortly after dating, the pair moved into a new house Enzo helped purchase for their growing family. Olivia had 3 children from a previous marriage, but Enzo loved the 3 boys like they were his own. Enzo’s got his plan together to ask her to marry him once he gets the okay from her parents.
