[REDACTED] the Fortune Teller
Rumor has it there's a student who only appears at night in the library who gives strange predictions.
"Sophie" or "Vincent" is an aloof and quiet schoolmate of the player. They can only be found inside the library after 9PM when the player edits their save files. "Sophie" can assist the player with strangely specific predictions, allowing the player to know what will happen in the next few hours. Their names and gender might change the next time the player meets them, assuming there's a next time. At 40% love, "Sophie" might appear out of nowhere to warn the player if their next action is deemed dangerous.

Hi there! Welcome to the pinned post!
So what's this blog for? It's where I get to share my silly and non-silly headcanons, ideas, theories, and OCs for Team Fortress 2! I will have at least 2 OCs in the cast, but that number may grow (... maybe, they'll probably be NPCs if I actually make any more...)
So let's lay some ground rules and basic info, yeah?
Is this an ask, RP, or fanfic sort of blog?
Yes. Just yes. I've been running blogs like this for a literal 10 years at this point that are part story driven, part RP with other peoples' muses, and part ask. It's my bread and butter lol.
Are you games or comics based?
A bit of both, mostly comics based because I'm coming in super late and the comics are silly and I love the shenanigans in them
Silly? Angst? Absolutely batshit nonsense?
Generally a mix of all three. This series is based in nonsense, but has potential for angst (which I'm a big sucker for). So expect half a dozen of one and six of the other.
Is there a story here or?
Much like the two above questions, yes and no. I'm more or less inserting my own characters into the lore and sharing how I feel that affects events in the way I understand them. To that end, there's really only a Team RED and a Team BLU, but I may make mention of other teams aside from Fortress (given they're mentioned in the comics, it isn't a stretch!). And I have an idea for handling how I think the comics would have ended, but we'll get to that in time.
Rules?
Be respectful. Remember that I am 25+ years old (yeah, yeah, I'm old), and I'm honestly iffy on many minors interacting here (if I post any NSFW writing, it'll be tagged, but that's a BIG IF), but I can't control what others do. This is actually one of 2 big fandom project blogs I run, with the other being on an unannounced hiatus, and I will draw for this blog occasionally but that does take time.
Also we will have no hate here, cringe or not, this blog is to have fun, either for me or for those interacting. This is the only blog to this account and I am not shy about using the block button. That said, I am friendly, I am down for sharing my steam to queue up every now and then, and I do play games aside from TF2 that people might want to join me for. Remember the first rule and it'll be good! ^^
Who's on this blog?
Mostly, just the 9 Mercs and my two OCs, Retriever and Assassin (hence the blog name!) But, I am a sucker for writing multimuse and I'm sort of sharing a storyline, so expect others to pop up such as Pauling, Saxton, NPC OCs, the Mann Bros, etc. I'm getting a handle for the characters, so bare with me, but it's fun for me so far!
Shipping?
Yes. Refer to the rules about no hate. Specifically two OCxCanon ships with RetrieverxSniper and AssassinxScout, and I'm a HeavyxMedic shipper. That's what I have so far, and that list may grow over time as I get more of a feel for how I write these characters (also later there will be ZhannaxSoldier).
And who are you?
You can call me Cherry, or Cherena. As said, I am 25+, she/they pronouns (interchangeable), and a self taught artist who primarily uses traditional mediums (I'm branching into digital, slowly). If asked, I may share my main and other big project blog. And honestly? I've learned to just be cringe and free, so yes I know and I don't care (edit; I forgot to tag my main, it's @cherry-blxssxm-chaos)
Anyways, have fun! Be respectful! Remember to use common sense, and don't shy from asking questions or interacting!

FANG i have smth i would like to inquire about an oc i am planning to make for red dead.....have not played it yet but plan to
i tried to hold off making an oc until i actually played the fucking game but whenever u (and lamb) talk about a new fandom it makes me chomp at the bit to immerse myself and now its too late
made my oc british thinking oh that might be fun!! but realised wait don't the british have heavy beef with everyone at that time....would that cause conflict at camp?? would she have tomatoes thrown at her during dinner (head in hands)
no not at all!! my very in depth self insert for red dead has a indian/british accent on a technical basis and the game itself has a really diverse cast of characters. you have a person at camp you meet later named trelawny who is super british but nobody rlly cares
the only character who would jokingly give you any grief about it is maybe sean cause he's irish lol. but he'd do it in a silly way like he makes fun of arthur for being an englishman as he says (arthur is american af so its very funny) there's also micah and bill but they're complete pieces of shit but it's not like a point of contention at all. camp has a mexican member, two black members, one mixed member (who is black + native!!) and for the most part camp treats them just fine. the game does not shy away from racism though so npcs out in the world might have something to say. but not camp
OBVS BEING BRITISH IS NOT A RACE THING BUT i use it to make a point that the camp generally speaking leans on more accepting then not.
again with the exception of micah and bill who are complete pieces of shit no one else really cares. especially not arthur who is both kind and very accepting... my feminist king fr
so i dont think ur oc being british would matter too much !!

I saw your response about ships and decided to see what you thought about some of the rare ones I like! I thiiiink you encountered these at one point on the book club but perhaps not.
Nero/Solus(rehydrated)
Nero/Exarch
Nero/m!wol
Varis/wol
Emet/Exarch/Nero
The Chais/wol
The Chais/Innocence (these here and below literally just occurred to me, but...)
The Chais/Exarch
The Chais/Emet
Innocence/Exarch
I'm actually not in the bookclub! But I have heard mention of some of these pairs!!
There's a lot here so I'll do a cut :3
Nero/Solus
When you say rehydrated I'm assuming you mean like, the more youthful Solus? I think if anything Nero would be way too fascinated by the allagan cloning and it was just irritate Solus gjdsgjds I could see them as like fwb but without the friends part lol colleagues with benefits I guess?? I get the sense Nero has a really hard time being emotionally vulnerable but likes to have fun physically at least
Nero/Exarch
Okay omg... I have to tell you... I had this like cracked AU idea before that like, Nero ended up as the exarch instead?? Like since he was really trying to stay inside the tower at the end of the CT quests I was like hey what if he did... So I don't think it's a stretch to imagine they both ended up in there! Hundreds of years of isolation with just the two of them, I think they'd spend a lot of time deep in their research and work but would eventually develop some sort of codependency. I think that would be interesting to see! :D
Nero/m!wol
I think it would depend on the wol's backstory but I think it could be interesting! Wol/npc stuff is always tricky to navigate because I think where it's great with one wol it doesn't work with another, so I think it's a bit hard to answer since one half of the ship is always going to be up to interpretation since it's an OC. But I think just looking at it from Nero's perspective, I could see it starting as another competitive sort of thing with Cid-- feeling like he's stealing the wol away from him, whether or not Cid had romantic interest in the wol or not, but just wanting to claim something against him in their neverending rivalry. I do like that you specified m!wol too because I can't imagine Nero with a woman personally
Varis/wol
So I actually do ship Varis with an OC! Not the wol though, the OC is Zenos' mom although I know technically she does have a name in canon now but I pretend I do not see it lol. It's a really tragic ship the way I do it because it leans into azemet kind of, where she wasn't Azem but was an ancient who was with Emet and is now sundered and married to Varis. To kind of compound their already bad family dynamic and make Emet sadder lol (affectionate).
But speaking of Varis specifically with the wol, I think that could be really interesting too! I think back to that scene in the stormblood patches where he absolutely owns the whole alliance and they're all scrambling like oh shit we actually know next to nothing about this guy what the fuck dsgjsdj iconic scene and one of my favorite parts of the game, but I would want to think that's where there's a turning point for the wol. They're like fascinated with him and feel so conflicted about everything. I think it would be a really good launching point for an AU where the wol switches sides and I would love to see it :D
Emet/Exarch/Nero
Well I love Emet/Exarch already so I think adding Nero into the mix would be interesting as well! I feel like it would be a combination of my answers above for Nero/Solus and Nero/Exarch. Possibly brings out the vindictive shitty side of Nero if he was already getting codependent with the Exarch (I could see him acting that way toward the wol as well) and I think it would be a really destructive relationship for the three of them. But that's sort of the appeal of Emet/Exarch anyway imo, that they make each other worse and I think adding Nero to that would just compound it
The Chais/others
I will combine these all into one answer because it is going to be the same (possibly disappointing) one: I love the Chais but I really don't see them having an open relationship. I feel this way about the Leveilleurs too, and I know it's popular with both of them to have it be an open relationship. I am just really passionate about being a monogamous wifeguy and so I absolutely project that onto m/f ships gdsjgjds Extremely weak for the devoted husband who is kind of insufferable otherwise but he's just a gooey sweetheart with his wife 🥺 it's too relatable for me so I can't bring myself to ship it as poly due to it having that personal sort of connection for me. I'm sorry!! 😭
Innocence/Exarch
I hadn't thought of this before but it's an interesting thought 👀 Sort of like a bad end scenario, I feel like? The Exarch was ready to throw himself away in that moment so why not let himself be corrupted? Or consumed? My brain immediately goes to body horror type of stuff for them and it's a lovely thought, I will need to ponder this one more ☺
I hope you found my thoughts on these interesting! Thanks for the ask! I definitely hadn't considered a lot of these before!!

Actually did some art for once, so. Woo! It's been a while, kinda been just idling trying to figure out how to make good 3d models, but I decided that like. Yeah I should just try making some 2d stuff because it's been a while. And I did. And I enjoyed it.
There's two, a Warframe character and a D&D character, don't know if I should be splitting this up into two posts but like. There's not really a tutorial or anything for using Tumblr as far as I'm aware and it seems unlikely many people will see this anyway so even if it's a bit bothersome, it shouldn't be Too bothersome.
Anyways, first one, this is Damhnait, named after the singer for Sleeping in the Cold Below. They're my Tenno OC because Warframe has been taking up my time in Destiny's stead now that the sunk cost fallacy's not holding me down. They're a bit of a bigger kid compared to a lot of the others on the Zariman, and because of that they felt responsible when everything went to shit, and tried to keep at least their little group together, which they managed pretty well, eventually ending up starting a clan and building a dojo with their friends.
Tumblr media
Fast forwards a bit after first waking up, they're... not doing so hot as a faceless super soldier still, but they're not doing terribly, more just strangely empty as they go about their life up until the point the Second Dream happens.
They aren't the one who makes the discovery but to be fair it doesn't matter that much when you find out everything you thought you knew about yourself was built up on a lie, that lie being the idea that you and the people you are ordering to fight are adults and not a bunch of literal child soldiers.
Obviously, they are not exactly Okay after that little revelation and have not Transferred back into any of their Warframes even Once after recovering their real body, instead being carried around like in the Second Dream most of the time, also not being the most physically healthy just in general and due to that being pretty much wheelchair bound. I mean. If that wheelchair was a humanoid-killing machine capable of magnetizing people's bones.
Anyways, I tried to base them off their look in game a decent amount but obviously it's not perfect, their scars especially bother me but I haven't figured out texture for any of my other drawings and I'm certainly not stopping now.
And now onto something relatively more lighthearted, Cosgrove, named after Matt Cosgrove who plays on the TTRPG channel the Third Wheel and also made a bunch of character songs for the PCs and NPCs. He's one of my current player characters, a Wild Magic Sorcerer who had a very normal homelife with parents who love him and a dog and went to Magic Highschool and Magic College just like anyone else, eventually graduating with an ethics degree and becoming a workplace health and safety inspector for the Nine Shrines Merchant's Guild with a serious disposition and a desire to help others.
Tumblr media
Only... well, this is a D&D character, so obviously there's problems. Not from what you might think though, this man's as straight-laced and surprisingly average as they come, with a loving family, a decent social life, a stable job, a home to come back to, etc. The only real issue is something he's dealt with his entire life, his magic, something wild and uncontrollable that he's grown to resent over the years, which is what even lead to most of his decisions, to his need for control over himself and deeply unhealthy level of responsibility for others even when reasonably he should be looking out for himself.
He joined the party, not because of his own goals or motivations, but because his best friend, my previous character Indrina Morea, ended up getting seriously messed up in the first fight she was in, not enough to kill her but enough for her to realize that she was not enough for the party as it stood then and there, and for her to make the decision to ask for help, going to the most capable person she knew, who she also knew was a strong magic user even if he actively avoided using any magic.
He's got a deeply unhealthy mindset for an adventurer obviously, adventurers are so deeply varied but they almost all Want things, have their own wants and desires, don't hesitate in dangerous situations and act on their instincts. Cosgrove though... he freezes up, he refuses to use magic unless given proper authorization by either the leader of the party or the highest rank ally available. He uses a gun in most of his fights and doesn't even Have a damaging spell.
He's the weakest link in the party, and the rest of the party doesn't Know it yet, even to him, while it's obvious he isn't exactly suited he doesn't know the extent of it, and it's going to be made Very Clear through various fights, getting singled out and having his weaknesses taken advantage of, and through it all he'll either sink on his own or the other party members will recognize what's going on and push him to start swimming. It's all a matter of whether they'll see the dangers and flaws of his current mindset before it's too late.
As you can tell by... well, all of that, I have a lot more to say about Cosgrove than I do about Damhnait, which makes sense because he's a character that's actively doing stuff and not just in my head while leveling up random items. As for his design, it's pretty simple and formal. I wanted to really hammer home how out of his depth he is here by making him... well, an office worker.
He doesn't look like some hero or even particularly fantastical, he's just a guy, he Wants to be just a guy, he's rejecting himself to be that and he's covered it up so well that if the rest of the party hadn't actively seen him using magic in combat they wouldn't even know. I also largely took inspiration from, well, two Jujutsu Kaisen characters, Nanami and a guy from the manga who I'm not gonna spoil in case any of my friends who wants to watch/read the series read this.
Anyways, that's the two of them. Who knows, maybe I'll post more within a semi-reasonable time-frame if I finish up more pics soon. I have been thinking about drawing my other active and soon to be active D&D characters, and maybe when I get more comfortable with art again I can start doing more complex things than just headshots, all just kinda depends.
At least I'm not working with MS Paint now.

I'm bored, so I'll answer some of the questions you posed:
1. Why is reader regarded as a deity? How does lore or history change because of it?
-This could be from them creating Teyvat, and having an active role throughout history; due to The Primordial One and The Second Who Came, this is made a little more odd, but it could be said 'The Creator' wasn't forgotten, and vanished sometime after the Archon War; anything during it is up to the writer.
2. Why does reader get golden blood all of a sudden? What modified their body structure for it to occur? Are there any other changes to their body?
-It wasn't always golden blood, it was a MacGuffin to help distinguish between the 'true' and 'imposter' Creator. The change could be them being transported to Teyvat, wherein one might say Teyvat itself is alive and helped its 'parent'. Any other changes is up to the writer once again; personally I'm a fan of their eyes changing to different characters' Constellations.
3. How are they actually transported to the world of Teyvat? What kind of role do they take up in the grand scheme of things? What influences can they exert (economically, culturally, etc.) in Teyvat?
-As the Creator, they're basically the Ruler of Rulers; they are allowed additional says on a Nation's matters, and allowed to impose their own, so long as others agree; normally, it would go ahead, but in places like Liyue, the Liyue Qixing would like to make sure they don't always have to relay on deities. How they got there is usually waking up there, but another I like is that Teyvat, and Genshin, is a parallel world in the form of a video game, allowing them to create a way to transport you there, like a portal, or summon, or the such.
4. How does it all affect reader's mental, emotional, or physical wellbeing?
-Depends on the writer; I write the reader, or Darlin', with the mindset of them being used to it, and tries their best throughout. Physically, with characters like Childe, Cyno or even Keqing, would help you in defending yourself; you could do so yourself, they're sure, but it never is harmful to relearn the basics. And, emotionally; well, I'd enjoy it, that's for sure; again, it all just depends on the writer.
I know I didn't need to write this, but meh xd
I hope this somewhat helps, Myuni! :D
I've wanted to share my thoughts and workarounds through my own writing, but I couldn't help but want to discuss after reading your ask.
this is going to be long, so all content utc!
I wanted to tie my oc a bit to the lore of my version of SAGAU. Mikoto would be a placeholder or test character, the first one to be fleshed out but only added to the game as an npc and reduced to nothing more than a name passed around. However, during the development process of the game. eventually, this small sentient piece of code would gain the desire to "exist." I believe that human desire or anything akin to it can be a powerful force because by wanting something to exist, essentially a parallel world is opened up where this is possible. in the case for Mikoto, a whole parallel world - where genshin is the real world - is made. another little alternative I can see is that through the existence of the game in our world, a parallel is opened up, and the desire for Mikoto to exist is strong enough for the laws of the universe to acknowledege it and make him exist in the parallel world in which the conciousness of both characters are connected and aware of what is happening on both dimensions. I also like to think that if the latter is the plot point decided upon, it means that this paradox may unknowingly influence the characters in the other dimension, creating this version of them that can be rather unstable and one that can eventually gain access to our reality through the breach between worlds.
Moving forward, the reason why the characters may think the reader to be a deity or a powerful entity can be tied to mikoto as well. The developers would also be some sort of "test player," which would be the first other conscious being Mikoto will be able to interact with. This sparks a curiosity that would overtime develop into devotion and an unhealthy dependency since Mikoto is alone. Since the developers would be able to change the game's functions, mechanics, and certain objects - among other things, Mikoto might see the player as someone capable of changing everything as he knows it. That would carry over into the other universe. This causes the lore to change where an all-powerful being regarded as the world's god or creator.
The transportation of reader to SAGAU I chalk up to the characters' shared desire for the reader exist to their realm and a little bit of Science (mainly Physics, and I'm not even going to try to explain how this might work - seeing as I specialize in BioChem and not Physics). I like to think that they are able to make a vessel within their world, which they can then use to hold the reader's consciousness after transporting it to SAGAU. The characters would try to make this vessel as close to your likeness as possible, but some notable changes would be your aging and a few modifications to your appearance if you request. You age slower in your new body - if you ever age at all. Golden blood can be a modification given.
As for the influences of the reader, I firmly believe that the reader will take the role of a leader of sorts. I believe it's a psychological result of having everything you knew just change. Your psyche would be in shambles, so it can be that the first instinct is to try to grasp something stable to keep you grounded. It just so happens that you're being offered a role as a deity, which gives you something you can use to ground yourself. By giving yourself a role, you are able to define something that is somewhat tangible. Of course, this would need a period of adjustment, which your lovely acolytes are more than happy to help you get through. Your tasks after getting used to being a deity would be learning; after all, knowledge is power. You must know Teyvat's conditions and history before you can even do something about them. You might typically find yourself learning things pertaining to Social Science - economics, politics, etc.
Celestia, I'm just going to headcannon for this, would be affected by the factors discussed previously. Their roles are still unclear, so I designate them to a bystander position as of the moment. They let you play god or are fully supportive of it, but their intentions may bleed somewhere into the series.
This SAGAU concept I just proposed can be adopted by anyone. Instead of Mikoto, one can also insert any character (oc or canonical).
Anyways, that's all I have hehe. Regarding au's, I'll touch up on that when I have the time. Thank you for sending in an ask :))

I want to know about "HOLY [REDACTED] BATMAN" that title is just too good! also 👀 about "roadtrip that goes spectacularly, horribly wrong"
(also just in general these names are top tire. 10/10, no notes)
first; am glad you like the placeholder titles! they make me laugh most of the time and help remind me first drafts aren't supposed to be serious so :D! also v glad to hear someone else enjoys them esp before they get changed into Respectable Fic Names.
i'm actually answering these in reverse order because holy redacted batman (my beloved) is pretty major bbom spoilers [ish? an npc is revealed to be someone Else and it's a real fun sequence] and i want to put it under a read more lol.
"roadtrip that goes spectacularly, horribly wrong" is. vol 3 fic and exactly what it sounds like: bad times all around for sae & company!
in outline mode still but so far includes:
trauma (assorted, including but not limited to: ghost trauma, torture trauma, being forced to leave people behind trauma, spooky dream trauma times like… 6 or 7 due to the way i'm going about gleowine's map/interludes, prophecy-related trauma, etc etc.)
"oh my god just get a ROOM already"
"we were literally told to f off why are you so happy?" "it was an ENT"
ranger shenanigans (ranging [heh] from "… you throw snow at people… for fun??? why…???" to "river shenanigans while doing mundane tasks because gosh darn it the gang needs a Break",
the mini-fellowship all thinking that they're the sane one (spoiler: it's none of them)
shiny sword <3
and a WHOLE LOT of: there are so many lines in the quests that DON'T make any GD SENSE if they're being spoken to a gondorian pc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
holy redacted batman!!!!!!
this one!!!! originally started out as a quick lil oneshot for interlude: shades in the swamp (which i think. i'm pretty sure i wrote as an oc-tober day? cannot remember) and RAPIDLY got way more, to the point where i'm v much considering it being it's own lil standalone between the fic that covers ~the first half of bbom and the fic that covers the second-ish. idk yet though.
title refers to sae being just. completely 'excuse me but WHAT' about the whole thing, and then very ":'D this is fine. this is fine, i'm totally normal about this whole experience, sure why not."

❤️◇ for the Munday meme!
Tumblr media
the salty af munday meme / Accepting
@alm1ghtysea wanted some salt: ❤️◇ for the Munday meme! ♥ What's the WORST thing that has happened to you rp wise? ♢ Has anyone ever tried to steal your blog? Your headcanons? Icons? All that jazz (I think it's this I'm sorry if it's not the diamond emojis for me looks different for me on the meme thing)
Tumblr media
This is not going to be a ragging fest on one person and it's probably not the worst thing, but still something I wasn't down with AT ALL. This old writing partner has done this sort of stuff before and I try to let it slide cause I would DM him about this shit. This is why you don't give people multiple chances sometimes. My side characters and the NPCs in my character's life are not for anyone to control.
My old muse Khianna had a sickly younger brother named Marques, so homie thought it was okay to just put him in critical condition and be close to dying. They always loved to do this my muse to have a situation be used to have MY muse always look like the one in the wrong or the person that needs help in the end. She's yelling at his character to leave her alone, cause that's the meme prompt I gave I think so let's just hit her with "You don't have time to be cold to me and be a bitch, YOUR BROTHER NEEDS YOU." At least ask me if that's okay to do Marques is still MINE.
♢ Has anyone ever tried to steal your blog? Your headcanons? Icons? All that jazz (I think it's this I'm sorry if it's not the diamond emojis for me looks different for me on the meme thing)
Tumblr media
Again, I hope this is the right symbol. But it was some odd things that happened before I don't know if I would equate to stealing because I never knew what the intentions were but it was two weird incidents.
One was when my mythos was being reblogged constantly by one person with a Lego Ninjago character they headcanoned as Inuit. Shanice and Iqniq (who isn't here anymore) are Inuit OCs I got and a lot of my personal mythos for them were inspired by Inuit folklore. The keyword is inspired though, it's not actual Inuit folktale facts so I told them that through DMs.
Another one was more recent with my first emystic blog before I restarted with this one. Someone just decided to follow me, like a bunch of my Muli character facts, and then unfollow and I think they even soft-blocked me and I always felt weird about it. Their OC was a purple alien girl just like Muli, but that's the only similar point they had is being not from Earth and associated with purple. Which ain't really unique. I don't know what was the end goal but if they did try to use Muli's image for their own purple alien fuck them.

Reading/re-reading a bunch of Dragon Age books and thought I'd give my quick thoughts for the ones I've gone through the last few days:
Asunder - 6/10. Always shocked Gaider wrote it, it does not feel like someone who knows the lore or games well, except insofar that a lot of the fight scenes are "this is how I envision it would play out in the game" as opposed to ones meant to be read. I can't remember if the printed version was this bad, but either there some horrific typos in the digital version or, again, it does not feel like someone that knows the lore wrote it ("Rite of Annulment" what the fuck). Creates some weird conflicts with established lore for no good reason. Last half better than the first half and Cole, Rhys, and Evangeline are genuinely likable once it gets going, at least.
Tevinter Nights - 3/10 to 10/10. Weirdly find the Talons story incredibly engaging and the characters very interesting (though that could be my OCD-based sympathy lol) and wish it were a book of its own and not just a short story that had to rush over a lot. In fact, I'd say most of the Crows-related stories are good, as well as the ones actually set in Tevinter. The Grey Wardens ones vary in quality and the Nevarra ones read like someone took passages from the World of Thedas and told a writer they had to come up with an excuse to infodump with poor mysteries shoved in. Most of the rest were just blah.
Magekiller - 2/10. This is so bad. The intro feels like some 12 year old writing about their OC and the addition of the relationship between Marius and that one DAI NPC that never goes anywhere again makes the protags honestly look way more at fault for some of the shit that goes down in DAI than Cole ever could. And this is true about all the comics, but the art is Not Great and relies very heavily on lazy shortcuts normally found in lower quality comics. Also a lot of lowkey ableism considering how Marius comes across. Never had strong feelings about Charter before, but now I dislike her.
Alistair comics - 5/10. The collection doesn't seem to have a good name to call all these lol Anyway, some interesting parts, getting to see one of my fav Tevinter characters and the way she's handled is always nice, but the whole thing is very C-quality-DLC-plot-thrown-out-during-development. Just all over the place. Hated the Isabella stuff, what even was that? We're not even going to get into the multiple international innocents that should have happened, but the whole thing was honestly ridiculous. Mae carries this shit.
Knight Errant - 8/10. Vaea and Ser Aaron are a trope, but it's a good one for comics and well-done in this, they're very cute. Varric feels way more natural here than in the Alistair ones, not sure what's going on with Sebastian but I think that has more to do with how wishywashy he has to be for Bioware canon than anything else. Literally nothing will make me care about the Magekiller romance, though, and it's honestly weird that's the conceit for the job.
Wraiths of Tevinter - 6/10. I think this was slightly better because it had to establish some of the characters, but it wasn't great (and what the hell did they do to my poor Fenris?!). The original stuff was better than when it started mixing into the overarching comics plotline, and the fact that 50% of these DA works fall back on "Qunari Ex Machina" got very old by this point. I cared absolutely zero amount about any of the villains and the Magekiller characters felt incredibly out of place in an already large cast. If it weren't for the endearing Knight Errant team and the mabari, I'd probably mark it down lower. Also lol why am I supposed to care about a slave owner Venatori apologist just because she had a bad childhood? Literally every one of the characters had a bad childhood. Fenris and Marius were literally slaves!
Also actually sitting down and reading the World of Thedas volumes instead of just looking stuff up in them and they're...fine. I still wish they were more encyclopedia like and I'm still confused at some of the assumptions people make based on things clearly not actually said in them, but that's fandom for you.

actually i can’t remember if you’ve talked about this before so apologies in advance, but #14 for the ask meme: what voice does casey have in-game and do you headcanon her with a different voice? and if you have already answered that, i’m curious about your voiceclaims for your other OCs
Sorry this took a while; I have a fever and it's confusing me as to what I'm doing rn...
Unsurprisingly I'm going to answer both 😅
Boss ask meme
14. Which voice does your Boss have? Or if you imagine them speaking differently to one of the in-game voices, describe it.
So I think I answered this at some point but it was pretty brief. Casey's voice is SR3/4 Female Voice 1, the Laura Bailey voice. Apparently that voice is not so popular 😅 but it's how I've always imagined her. In 2 I play with the other Female voice 1 but hc she sounds the same as 3/4. I guess it's probably a little different in my head to in-game just because I've written as her vastly more than I've played as her by this point.
In SR1 I never attempted to remake "unnamed SR4 Boss" as she was at the time, I had a different Boss entirely. But I imagine her voice just sounding appropriately younger; a little higher pitched and when talking for extended periods, probably a little more timid too, though obviously the one-liners we hear in-game are her at her most confident.
I think we can assume the Stilwater accent is similar to Detroit, but her mom was from a different area of Michigan and in terms of later in life she has been heavily influenced by living in Steelport and Washington so I think her accent is pretty mixed. In terms of how Michigan I imagine it she definitely says stuff like didja, toldja, meetcha, y'guys instead of y'all, ope instead of oops, and Matt teases her over "meer" and "cloze". She doesn't have the vowel rotations like "melk", "stahp" though, I think her mom did though so she actually finds that pretty grating.
So yeah; she probably sounds a little different in my hc but I did study the LB voice lines as much as possible... the videos are just loooooong 😅
22. Another question not listed here: Do you have voiceclaims for your other OCs?
Pretty much all of my OCs have voices in my head but I don't think I have voice claims for most of them.
Mori is a difficult one because he's one of my most important OCs and I have a clear idea but no voice claim. In terms of tone I always imagine his voice being similar to the friend I based him off, whose voice has been likened to JJ Olatunji/KSI, but Mori is not British; his accent would be Stilwater but with several words pronounced with a Bajan inflection as he lived in Barbados for the first 11 years of his life.
Nessa's voice claim is KO/Karen Olivo because the minute I named the character Vanessa I couldn't help but associate her with Vanessa from In The Heights, and KO originated that role.
Rhys only has one line in my fanfic which is a very smooth "Mi rey." when he finally sees Pierce again. I'm tempted to say he sounds the same as his faceclaim Laith Ashley. His voice when speaking Spanish is how I imagined, maybe slightly different when speaking English, but he has a nice voice, I think it works.
Charlie's from East London so think the cockney male voice in a higher register. They're AFAB on a microdose of T.
I haven't really given Ward a voice yet but later I might have a walk around in SR2 and the first npc voice that suits him, I'm going to steal 🤣
Jenny is from Laredo, Texas and I described her as having a "gentle southern drawl.". She is obviously hugely rich and successful but unlike Casey she will not let her accent be influenced. She remembers her roots.
Daniel (the only fanfic featured OC I didn't draw for the pride thing) is also really important but... I guess I just imagined whatever "American kid" voice my brain thought of when writing him. I'll have to think about teen/adult Daniel!
I'm sure I'll be ridiculous enough to give all the Saints' kids voices eventually 😅

Tell us more about ur WoL!! : )
ffxiv really is the "you dont have an oc you're obsessed with? would you like one" the game
her name is suvd she's a xaela dancer main and i love her more than god. ill put it under the readmore because there are endwalker spoilers in there
Tumblr media
she had a whole "complicated" childhood because she's from the moks tribe and if you know xaela lore they're the tribe that are like cuckoo birds so her "uncle" resented having to take care of her. she lived in one of the tribes that has some contact with the outside world and has interest in perserving xaela culture so she would spend a lot of time with other tribes as a record keeper for the sake of fitting in. at some point the tribe she lives with presents an opportunity to travel to eorzea to do more general record keeping/research and she takes it/has it pushed on to her. she started in gridania as a lancer and then after the whole haurchefaunt thing became a dancer. she can't read or write eorzean (the echo does a lot of the heavy lifting) and at this point actively refuses to learn. she's reluctant hero flavor and is frequently very miserable about it (especially after the whole 5.3 thing) but is actually pretty held together through most of endwalker.
relationship wise (aside from a long series of flings shes had with almost every single female job npc) she and raha had a more complicated relationship because she really didn't enjoy the hero worship thing but she still had affection for him. post endwalker though they're in a better place : )
she is also deeply into every member of the elpis trio for different reasons. the hades thing fucked her up pretty bad for a while the hyth thing is like extremely casual and the venat thing is like. so deeply complex and emotional but also she thinks shes like the hottest god in the world.
none of this is like that coherent but a lot of her personality is like "im serious, im deeply emotionally invested, im so FUCKING tired" but she will tease the twins and raha for fun : )
Tumblr media
(im in the process of trying to get the starbird minion right now as we speak but until i do the shoebill is her canon minion. they love each other MAYBE)

So I discovered recently I never downloaded Betrayal of Comrades to Fatal Bullet and I was kind of excited to play again because it's one of those few games where I genuinely love my OC and see this as his story.
Except they ramped up the difficulty by a ton. Like the last DLC was a difficulty spike in and of itself but I eventually got over it with careful strategy. Don't stand in one place, use your guns and grenades, make absolute use of the super dodge I can't remember the name of, and carry healers with you always.
Except they also designed this in a laboratory from hell. The levels for regular enemies are 90-100, my guy just barely scratched out of the last one at 86 (I'm 93 now). The enemies themselves aren't that bad, just swish swish stab. It's the mini bosses from HELL and the partner AI unearthed from an outhouse bog water that make it terrible. Sure a lot of it is trial and error but only so many times before it becomes tedious.
So here's something weird: part of the level randomly changed slightly and I have no clue what triggers it. I know I'm fucked when I see a certain mech and a certain door turns green. Normally I'll see some robot swordsmen or something, kill them, and slaughter on to the end. But there's a weird chance that, when I see the mech and beat it, the other door opens and I'm forced to fight level 110 ROBOT ANGEL and his son. I have trouble with these when they're 60 something. These things move around so quick I can't keep track, they kill my allies too quickly, they kill me and force me to wait until my allies die trying to revive me, and it's just overall a bad time. I can't beat it. If I get these two I have to try and fail so I can die and start over and HOPE I get the easier path.
Now, the partner AI is dumb af. Sometimes when you die they'll just roll over you or stand over you instead of reviving. So why in the FUCKING hell are two AI players I had to fight the smartest damn NPC's I've ever fought? Grenades, smoke bombs, more grenades, corner, snipe, grenade the rest of the crew in one go. Clarence and Shirley, I'm very interested in them because they seem like interesting characters but I also want that damn AI on MY side for once!
Oh but it gets worse! Manage to make your way into depths of the Demon Cave. What can you expect from GGO, a shoot em up Sci Fi Pist apocalyptic post space faring world? Well unlike the last doc dungeon, it wasn't a giant robot wizard! It's a fuckin robot samurai with an actual katana and a robot samurai with a gun, both double teaming you. This dungeon seems reliant of partner fights because by themselves they're slightly a challenge, but with a friend? They're near unbeatable. These two are basically just player characters with fancy costumes the way they fight, and yet their defenses and attack are SO unfair. If you focus on the gunner, the sword guy swoops in and kills you. If you focus on the sword dude, gun dude snipes at you at point blank range. I even managed to take out the sword guy first, and this BOOSTS the already tanky gunner. I made ONE mistake and he kills my ENTIRE PARTY. What the fuck.
And I thought maybe killing the samurai would give me a cool katana, since the play style is basically like a player AI on steroids. Nope. I got a gun. A pistol I can't even use.
I WAS looking forward to maybe getting new outfits, but they're reserved for outfit crafting with rare materials and requires a drop for the design. I was ALSO looking forward to finally expanding my home to more than just a stainless steel gillette razor blade bedroom and actually have a purpose for that door. Nope, you need 100 million. I have 16 million. Then maybe I thought I could grind and increase my bounty so I could unlock something else at 100 mil. I'm only worth 47 mil. Killing 450 bees only increased it by 40 thousand.
What is like... the point? I understand a challenge but like. This game is SO CLOSE to being fun. I find myself enjoying the aesthetics and the irony of using swords in a gun world, I find myself even enjoying the characters and waifus, because what kind of game would it be without the waifus? A terrible one, duh.
And yet when its SO. So close to being fun, tediousness and mediocrity sets in. You can't beat these enemies because you haven't grinded enough, you still can't beat them because you're dumb and they're strong and smart and guess what? You gotta grind again for the NEXT BOSS. You gotta grind the money to buy the cool shit, you gotta grind levels so you can go into the extreme level dungeon to get ONE drop so you can go and make an outfit, you gotta grind again so you can access functions to your own home, and what the fuck. What the everloving fuck.
Now I'm going to beat it for spite but come on. You as a game designer have to ask "is this fun" before you do shit. Yes working for it can be fun sometimes but it feels like that's ALL I'm doing! Working towards a better thing!
Wuhhh got gud
How about you make your damn game fun!
