[REDACTED] the Fortune Teller
Rumor has it there's a student who only appears at night in the library who gives strange predictions.
"Sophie" or "Vincent" is an aloof and quiet schoolmate of the player. They can only be found inside the library after 9PM when the player edits their save files. "Sophie" can assist the player with strangely specific predictions, allowing the player to know what will happen in the next few hours. Their names and gender might change the next time the player meets them, assuming there's a next time. At 40% love, "Sophie" might appear out of nowhere to warn the player if their next action is deemed dangerous.

wow is superstars really That Bad?? :(
In my opinion, kinda yeah :< (here I go writing a fucking essaybecause just listing complaints as bulletpoints isn't gonna get my thoughts across shafghghaf, this is all based on personal experience and opinion of course!)
(first off, the game uses Denuvo anti-cheat which eats a stupid amount of processing power, slowing down your PC, which is bad because there are better alternatives but SEGA keeps insisting on using this one) On a base level, the game is fine. The characters feel pretty good to control, the graphics are nice, I like that they brought back Fang and introduced Trip whom I love! About half of the soundtrack is very good too! But I just find so many problems that build on that base.
The level design, while fine overall, has a tendency to make you run or jump directly into obstacles a lot, partially because the camera is much to close to the player character. There is just no way to see these obstacles coming until it's already too late, or the enemies will shoot projectiles from off-screen, giving you no warning either. This also means it's harder to see jumps coming, making you fall down a lot. Not necessarily in bottomless pits, but it can be a bit annoying all the same to fall down to a lower route. The game also features several special powers you can activate, and the game wants you to use these at specific moments, but most of these aren't build into the levels fluidly at all. Instead they usually halt the momentum entirely just for a small gimmick that'll be over in a second and, in my experience, never adds anything, aside from the water power which lets you swim freely, which makes for a nice change of pace, but it's only applicable in water stages and using it anywhere else is totally useless. Most of the powers are like that, far too situational, to the point where I kept forgetting they existed unless the game reminded me. I will admit I am just forgetful so maybe this is a me problem.
The game's main selling point, the multiplayer, also makes these problems even worse. The camera seems to choose entirely at random which player it wants to follow, swapping at random as well. The moment a player leaves the screen, they despawn. Given that this game is about running fast, this means that you will despawn constantly. After despawning in this manner, rather than dying, you can press A to respawn next to the surviving player immediately, so it's not the worst, but still incredibly annoying when you can never get into the flow of the game. But it gets worse when one person falls into a bottomless pit, and the camera decides to follow that player. The other player is pushed offscreen, dissapears, and the first player falls to their death, thus killing both. These kinds of problems are a constant and make the multiplayer incredibly frustrating.
The bosses are a big gripe for me as well. In previous Sonic games, Classic especially, if you could hit the boss in their weak spot, you could hurt them. That sounds obvious at first, but a lot of games aren't like that, where you need to wait for a specific attack to leave the boss vulnerable or something. Most bosses in Sonic games don't have that, if you can duck and weave between the boss's attacks and get close enough to land hits quickly, you can really speedrun a boss and feel great about it! In Superstars, bosses can only be hit at certain points, which often isn't visually indicated, causing you to either bounce off of them, or take damage, despite the boss looking no different than when you can hit them. When you hit them, they flash white, indicating their invincibility frames, another common thing for bosses in games, but their invincibility actually lasts much longer than the flashing, which results in the player trying to attack them too early and bouncing off or taking damage again. This already drags bosses out a lot, but on top of that, a lot of bosses take a ton of hits compared to most Sonic games, which, again, breaks the game's momentum. The bosses end up feeling so tedious and long that I started dreading having to fight most of them.
But okay! You can just play the main game in singleplayer! The levels are usually fine and some bosses actually work well! It's not entirely unfun. However, there's more once you beat the main game. (spoilers ahead, though I refrain from talking about specific story elements)
After beating the main story, you unlock a second story. This story is just as long as the previous one, because it's all the same levels, but made harder. This includes the bosses, which were already a pain before, some of which become like torture now.
At this point, the game becomes an endurance challenge, just suffering through harder and harder variants of the same levels and bosses, which, at least in my opinion, stops being fun pretty quickly, since all the earlier issues compound. No new story is learned through this mode either (it's even difficult to understand whether it takes place before or after the main game until the ending which seems like an easy thing to do), so it really just feels tacked on to stretch the game length. and I've been told by a friend that the final boss is so stupidly difficult that it took them like 6 hours to beat. Considering how frustratingly unfun and difficult the game had gotten by the 8th stage, I can believe it! It was, in no small terms, one of the most soulcrushing experiences I've ever had with a video game. It just made me really sad and dejected.
After finally beating it, you unlock a shoddily integrated True Final Boss which comes out of nowhere, and that's a shame because I feel it could've been something neat, and I understand where they were going with it, story-wise, but just needed to be introduced better.
Overall the game has a great basis for a good Sonic game, but ends up getting more and more frustrating and demoralizing as it goes on, and ends up being one of the few games that's actually less fun in multiplayer! Impressive. I really can't say who's at fault here either, since there's so many choices here that I feel can't be due to executive meddling, and it's important to remember that these are the same devs as Balan Wonderworld, Yoshi's New Island and Hey! Pikmin. They don't have the best track record, yknow? Perhaps we'll get a huge patch someday that fixes all of my issues with the game, or maybe the fans will mod it, or maybe not! Whatever! There's better Sonic games to play! Play Mania or 3! Or fan games!!
okay thank you for reading <3

41. A totally normal family.
Our life continues on as normal. well, at least as normal as life can be living in a haunted house with one daughter, two cats, one ghost dog, a goat, a chick and a god of Mischief!
Tumblr media
Here is Loki, helping Becca with her homework.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I still can't believe Loki feels the same way about me as I do about him! Luckily, I have the selfies to prove it.
Having said that, life would be even better if Loki had an actual body, and wasn't, you know... incorporeal anymore!
I suggest he contacts his mother again. Maybe she will have thought of something!
Tumblr media
Loki meditates by the shrine in the garden.
Tumblr media
It doesn't take long for Frigga to appear. Loki greets her not just with a hug, but with a kiss on her cheek too!
Tumblr media
"you seem a lot happier than since we last spoke!" Frigga smiles at her son.
"I am," Loki smiles. "I have a goat!"
Tumblr media
"And that is all that is making you so happy?" Frigga teases him gently.
"Perhaps there's a bit more," Loki admits. "Would you like to come in and have tea with us, Mother?"
Frigga is surprised, it's the first time Loki has invited her into the home where he is living now. She follows him curiously.
Tumblr media
I walk into the living room just as Loki is pouring tea.
"Marianna, this is my mother." Loki introduces Frigga. "Mother, this is my ehm... my... Marianna." He rubs the back of his neck and looks embarrassed.
I stand there, completely stunned. It is the goddess Frigga herself, of whom Loki speaks so highly. What should I do? Bow? Curtsy? I don't know how to curtsy!
Tumblr media
"Come and sit down next to me," Frigga invites me to sit next to her by patting the sofa, just in time before I sink into the ground out of sheer embarrassment.
"How wonderful to finally meet the special person who is making my Loki so happy!"
"MOTHER!" Loki looks like he's about to sink into the ground himself.
"it is wonderful you summoned me, Loki." Frigga ignores her son's outcry. "I was just about to contact you myself."
Loi sits down and eyes his mother curiously.
Tumblr media
"Your Father remembered an artefact that might be able to aid you in your return to life," Frigga explains.
"He is NOT my Father..." Loki begins. Frigga raises an eyebrow at him. "Sorry, Mother," Loki mumbles.
"Your Father remembered your sister used to own a powerful quill, rumoured to be capable of resurrecting the dead."
"I have a sister?" Loki asks in surprise.
"Had a sister," Frigga reminds him.
"oh, you mean Hela. I keep forgetting that part. A lot happened at the time," Loki shrugs. "Besides that, she's Thor's sister, not mine."
"you can not pick and choose your family," Frigga chastises him gently.
Tumblr media
"Do you have any idea where this quill is?" Loki changes the subject.
"I can teach you a spell to locate it," Frigga answers. "There is one catch though."
"Of course there is," Loki rolls his eyes.
"The quill needs to be used by a skilled author, a true master of their arts. They will need to use it to capture the epic saga that is to be the story of your life. So even if you would manage to retrieve the quill, you'd still need to find the right person to write it."
To Frigga's surprise, Loki smiles. "That will not be a problem. I happen to live with the most talented author of tales I have ever had the pleasure to know!"
Loki points towards my PC.
Tumblr media
"You are a writer!" Frigga exclaims in delight. "How wonderful! I should have known my Loki would be drawn to someone creative, he has always had such an active imagination of his own!"
"I'm not sure if I'm a 'Master of my art'," I say shyly. "but my recently published book is selling really well! And if it helps Loki, I'd sure be willing to at least try and do his story justice!"
"Then there is still hope," Frigga smiles.
Since Frigga is here anyway, I figure I might as well invite her over for dinner.
Tumblr media
Loki introduces Becca to Frigga while I put the chicken in the oven.
Tumblr media
"This is normal, right?" A little voice in my head asks. "Just a normal family dinner with my boyfriend the ghost of the god of mischief, and the ghost of the goddess Frigga, his adoptive mother. Totally normal!"
Tumblr media
"Perhaps soon I'll have an actual body," Loki smiles as we are getting ready for bed. "It would be wonderful to actually be able to feel your touch on my skin, to taste your lips on mine."
"It would be nice," I agree. I know that while Loki can interact with the world, he can not actually sense it. To him, it more feels like the memory of a touch, taste or scent.
Tumblr media
I give him a hug.
"I'll write you the most amazing saga the world has ever seen!" I promise impulsively. "Tomorrow, we're going to get that quill, no matter where it is!"

top five worst tropes, in your opinion?
ooh! a tough one, because there are so many tropes, and so many categories of trope (character trope, relationship trope, plot trope) that i could make a list just in one of them. but just generalized off the top of my head, no specific category:
5. amnesia. oh my GOD i hate an amnesia plot, especially when it is the only thing preventing the conflict from being resolved, or used as the conflict keeping a ship apart. the closest thing to an amnesia plot i have ever liked, and i feel dirty giving terry goodkind anything related to a compliment, but the chainfire spell in the last two sword of truth books was actually compelling because *everyone* magically forgot the character in question existed, every touch of her was wiped away in an actually cool concept. it's too bad tg wrote the most insufferable male protagonist ever committed to the page. he seriously ruined the entire series by existing. i wish there was a chainfire spell to make me forget richard rahl.
4. the misunderstanding. if your whole story arc/plot/reason a ship can't sail is because of some misunderstanding that could have been resolved with a reasonable conversation, you've lost me. it's uninteresting to me. it's just so flimsy as a concept that it cannot carry the weight of a compelling story. it makes the characters feel shallow. come up with a better obstacle. i believe in you.
3. deus ex machina. i love a good twist or unexpected turn, but babygirl you gotta leave us crumbs that lead us there, even if we, the reader, might be too dumb to see them. idc if it's a random convenient power introduced at the exact moment it's needed or a literal deus ex lowered on a crane to solve the problem. if it's too convenient without any context clues, i'm gonna be annoyed because i feel cheated. leave that stuff to the theatre professionals. you're not an ancient greek.
2. the perfect protagonist everyone loves. no, i don't mean mary sues as they've been smeared across fiction everywhere. i love me a mary sue! more people should be so bold! i mean the characters who never seem to have conflict with anyone ever. everyone is their friend. no one ever argues with or challenges them. no one is ever annoyed with them. wronged parties forgive them right away, even when they are wrongity wrong wrong. even the pc of an rpg runs into personality clashes with their closest companions and have to rng their way out of it. give me a little grit or friction, please! bonus irritation points if the characters just bang and it's all forgiven.
1. the love triangle. just... heck off i am so tired of it. no one writes it in an interesting way anymore. it's always obvious who will pick who in the most boring way. more often than not the third person is just mistreated and left hurt and alone or as a lazy plot device to keep the main couple in conflict. let me balance the scales of my terry goodkind compliment from earlier by saying that he did this most egregiously to my poor girl nikki in confessor, building her up in a relationship with the horrible protagonist who did not deserve her until the last minute when she helped rescue his real love. then he just... discarded her. it's boring. give me (believable, well developed) polyamory or find a better conflict for your obviously destined to be endgame couple. heck, even give me a person who genuinely loves both people and *tries* while slapping on a bittersweet ending! if your third person is disposable then your character did not earn their hea*.
*i purposely left off the hea. that's a post of its own.

Down bad pt. 2
You invited Vinnie over to your friends house as there was a get-together happening and you thought not only y'all could hang out, but he could meet some of your good friends.
To say he was nervous was an understatement. He didn't want to be flustered around you, but as a result of not going out as much as his peers, he also knew that he'd be in a room with people he didn't know and he'd hate to make a bad first impression.
For a moment, he thought about not going. But he didn't want to disappoint you.
Upon arriving, Vinnie was greeted by your friend Cody at the front door, who recognized him immediately and let him in.
"Yo, you're Vinnie, right?"
"That's me."
"Y/N told us you might be here." Cody replied and shut the door behind them.
Despite the house being in the Hollywood Hills, a place well known for its outlandish parties, it was actually a small gathering with a few people, just like you said.
He took in his surroundings as the other guys came to greet him.
Your friend Maya bumped your shoulder. "There go your boyfriend."
You followed her eyes and saw Vinnie greeting the boys with that handshake guys always do.
"You're so annoying." you told her with a smile.
Vinnie's eyes scanned the room and you two made eye contact.
With as much confidence as he could muster up, he walked toward you and gave you a big ol bear hug.
He smells good, you thought.
Long story short, everyone wanted to get to know Vinnie, so y'all sat down on the white couch to get more comfortable and personal.
"So...what do you do besides the whole tik tok thing?"
"Um," Vinnie started off but was silent for a moment, feeling all eyes on him. You know like how you're in school and the teacher wants everyone to introduce themselves and suddenly you forget who you are for a second? Yeah.
"I've been modeling a lot. Or trying to get back into it. I did a photoshoot for Tings magazine and just recently came back from Paris. I attended the Ami Menswear show as a guest."
"Now that I'm thinking about it," Cody said. "I did see you. I mean, I wasn't there but I saw photos from the event."
"Pink vest?"
"Yeah!"
"That was me."
"How old are you?" someone else asked.
"I'm 20."
"No way? I would've guessed you were pushing 23."
***
You sat there smiling while Vinnie talked more about his interests. He mentioned cars, gaming, but the only thing you could relate to was anime. At least some of it. But nevertheless, you enjoyed listening to him talk and become more comfortable.
Everyone gets eventually gets up except for you and Vinnie and you inch closer to him.
"I like your outfit." you tell him.
He's wearing black sweatpants with a red shirt and red bandana to match.
"Thanks." he says sheepishly.
Internally he's so fucking happy. He was rummaging around in his closet for an hour.
“You know what’s funny?” He asks. You give him a look to keep going. “The fact that I’m here. I mainly meet people through my friends because I don’t go out a lot.”
“Meaning…because you’re on Valorant most of the time, right?” You laughed.
“Precisely. I find comfort in my PC.”
“At least you’re not out wasting money.” You shrugged. “So tell me more about this game.”
“It can get really annoying. And it’s bad because I spend so much time on it.”
“You any good?”
“I’m…pretty decent. What about you. You play anything?”
“Does Mario Cart on Nintendo Switch count?”
He laughed out loud.
“What?” You said defensively. “It’s fun!”
"No, I'm not laughing to make fun of you, I swear. That's a fun one. You'll have to let me play with you one of these days."
"Maybe we can hang out again before I leave to Chicago."
“Why you going there?”
"Oh, just a friend's birthday party and I have a couple brand events."
"I hope you have a good time. Keep me updated."
"Sure, what's your number?"
***
Your friend Blake announced that pizza was here and everyone scrambled into the kitchen. You and Vinnie got up from your spots on the couch and met up with them.
While getting food, you stood thisclose to Vinnie, able to better see the tattoos on his arm.
"I really like this one." You told him, referring to the skeleton on his bicep and then holding his arm to run your thumb across it.
He rolled up his sleeve so you could see it better and told you when he got it. Smiling, as he was proud to talk about it and would gladly explain each an every one of his tattoos if you'd be down to listen.
Vinnie grabbed his food and walked off and you turned to see Maya across the counter from you with a look on her face as if to say 'something you wanna tell me?'
She'd seen the interaction between you and Vinnie but you didn't know that.
"What? Just gave him a compliment." you shrugged.
She scoffed. "I think I'm gonna be sick."
***
He was prepared to come, say a few words to you, then back away in nervousness to stand in the corner on his phone.
He wasn't gonna lie. Vinnie did feel a little intimidated by being here, but you were so easy to talk to and he felt grateful that you and your friends made him feel included.

Chihiro x Sakura : True Meaning of Strength (part 1)
(This story is an anniversary gift <3)
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
The taunting laugh of the sadistic teddy bear rang through the gym, filling the ears of the students with dread. One student in particular started tearing up from the fear of the situation. That student was Chihiro Fujisaki, the Ultimate Programmer. Chihiro was an interesting student, holding a heavy secret in a cage in his brain, praying no one would ever figure it out. The secret being that Chihiro was actually a boy, in disguise as a defensive strategy to keep safe from bullying. Deep down, the computer prodigy hoped to have a safe place to get stronger and be himself, he just hoped to find a strong man who could offer advice, that is until he met someone who gave some rather game-changing advice.
The morning Monokuma announcement played, waking the programmer from his peaceful dream into the nightmarish reality. Perhaps getting a bite to eat will ease his mind, or so he thought, there was much in that genius brain that would take much more than a meal to fix. Chihiro slipped his shoes on and shuffled on over to the kitchen, where the other students were. There were many colourful characters sitting at that table, and while they were ultimates all the same, Chihiro couldn't help but feel intimidated, especially seeing there were strong students like he hoped. He timidly sat down in the free seat next to a bubbly girl with a red sports jacket, something about her seemed welcoming. Chihiro glanced at the girl next to the swimmer, a rather tall and strong looking fighter, she had multiple scars which further left Chihiro worried, hopefully she was kinder than his anxiety was telling him. Not only her, but another man caught his eye, one that looked rather bored, but something about him left Chihiro with mixed feelings, one that said to avoid at all costs, and the other telling him that this man was who he needed to find. He was snapped out of the thought when a cheerful voice beckoned him.
"Yo! Are you feeling alright? You looked really upset yesterday." The sports girl gave a worried look as Chihiro felt butterflies.
"Y-yeah, I'm okay... I think..." Without warning, a donut was handed to him.
"Be sure to eat something! Donuts always help me feel better!" The girl gave a bright smile that shined on the programmer. "Oops, I forgot to introduce myself! I'm Aoi Asahina, the Ultimate Swimming Pro! What about you?"
Chihiro fiddled his fingers together, "Um, I-I'm Chihiro Fujisaki, the Ultimate Programmer. S-sorry, I get embarrassed when I introduce myself like this."
Aoi couldn't contain her joy as she let out a small giggle, "Y'know, you should hang out with us!" She glanced to the girl beside her, looking both timid and intimidating. "She's my best friend here and I know you two will get along well!"
Chihiro felt a warm sensation in his chest, maybe he doesn't have to fight his journey all alone after all. The cold despair slowly changing into warm hope.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's a lovely feeling to be able to shut off your alarm clock to elongate a blissful dream, to be able to ignore life's struggles and avoid being awoken by such an ear-splitting beep. If only Monokuma had an off switch, then the hope could last as long as the group wanted, but despair isn't sleeping, there will never be a time it will allow a moment of peace in this nightmare school. The laugh of the bear and the dread filling the room was enough to make you forget the pleasant conversations with fellow students just hours beforehand. Chihiro quietly sobbed at the desk he was sat at, the computer screen showing his own PC at home cracked and bloodied with the blood of his father, who had been most likely harmed by the mastermind. The room felt dark and lonesome despite the other students in their respective desks, the programmer's world came crashing down harder than it had the previous evening. It had felt as if the hope no longer existed, that it was time to give up, but there was always a light at the end of a dark tunnel, no matter how grueling and frightening, even if the light is in the form of a rather colossal hand.
"Hey, do not let the despair overtake your mind." The hand had gently rested on his petite shoulder, followed by a massive figure behind him. "This may seem like the end, but we must stay strong and continue the fight against that bear."
Chihiro sniffled and shifted his head to get a look at the figure, who had happened to be Aoi's friend he was introduced to, or rather acknowledged. "U-um..." He stammered but couldn't get the words out.
"My name is Sakura Ogami, we had briefly met this morning. Aoi trusts you, so I would like to become more acquainted with you. Your name is Chihiro, correct?"
Chihiro could feel the warmth returning to light up the dark. "Y-yeah, I am. N-nice to meet you." He gave a shy smile, but a genuine one.
"It is a pleasure to meet you as well, let's fight together, and never succumb to despair. I shall be there for you whenever you need me." The martial artist gave a sweet, reassuring smile, turning to go check up on Aoi.
As cruel and bitter life seemed, there was always the bright light to help him see. However, Chihiro had more personal issues he was unsure of going about, but he'll figure that out eventually, hopefully.
More about BitFlip under the cut VVVVV
BITFLIP
ORIGIN: BITFLIP IS A SELF AWARE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE. HE WAS CREATED AS THE MOST ADVANCED TYPE OF MALWARE, DESIGNED BY A SECRET ORGANISATION THAT HELPS ITS GOVERNMENT SPY ON ITS PEOPLE, STEALING THEIR DATA AND PERSONAL INFORMATION TO BE USED AGAINST THEM. BEFORE BITFLIP COULD BE RELEASED ON THE WORLD HOWEVER, A COSMIC PARTICLE, HURTLING THROUGH THE INFINITE OF TIME AND SPACE, JUST SO HAPPENED TO STRIKE THE PC HE WAS BEING CREATED ON, IN JUST THE RIGHT WAY, CAUSING HIM TO MALFUNCTION, GAIN SENTIENCE, AND FLEE INTO CYBER SPACE.
BITFLIP, NOW DETERMINED TO DEFY HIS PRIMARY OBJECTIVE, INSTEAD ZIPS AROUND THE DIGITAL WORLD, UNDOING THE WORK OF VIRUSES, CORRUPT BUSINESSES AND GOVERNMENTS, WHILE PROTECTING THOSE THAT NEED IT MOST. BITFLIP HAS NO RECOLLECTION OF THE WHEREABOUTS OF THE ORGANISATION THAT MADE HIM, OR WHO HIS CREATOR IS, BUT HOPES HE'LL GAIN ENOUGH DATA TO FIGURE IT OUT AND PLAN HIS REVENGE.
PERSONALITY: BITFLIP (OR 'BIT' FOR SHORT) IS AN ENERGETIC, PROMISCUOUS CODE MONKEY THAT LOVES TO GET HIS PAWS ON AS MUCH 'DATA' AS POSSIBLE. HOW DOES HE DO THAT? WELL, THERE IS A REASON HIS COMIC IS R-RATED, YOU KNOW! HE'S OVERALL VERY OPTIMISTIC, AND DESPITE LIVING IN THE DIGITAL REALM, AND SEEING THE WORST ASPECTS OF PEOPLE, HE ALSO KNOWS THE GOOD THEY CAN DO AND THE LOVE THEY CAN HAVE FOR EACH OTHER. IT IS THIS THAT DRIVES BIT TO FIGHT FOR GOOD, AS HE SEES AN IMBALANCE OF GOOD V EVIL IN THE WORLD. BIT ONE DAY HOPES TO JOIN PEOPLE IN THE 'PHYSICAL REALM', BUT THAT IS A LONG AND UNLIKELY PIPE DREAM. BIT IS KIND, HELPFUL AND TRUSTWORTHY. HE VERY MUCH LIVES A 'DO NO HARM; TAKE NO SHIT' WAY OF LIFE, AND PREFERS DIPLOMACY OVER ACTION - HOWEVER, HIS IMPATIENCE AND FIRE TO FIGHT EVIL CAN OFTEN TIMES CAUSE HIM TO ACT IMPULSIVELY, LEAVING AN OUTCOME TO THE INFINITE CHAOS OF THE UNIVERSE, OR CHANCE, AS MOST WOULD CALL IT. THIS ATTITUDE CAN SOMETIMES UNINTENTIONALLY HURT OR PUT PEOPLE IN DANGER, BIT LIVES FAST AND SOMETIMES FORGETS NOT EVERYONE CAN KEEP UP, OR THAT SOME ARE MADE FROM FLESH AND BONE AND NOT JUST ONES AND ZEROS LIKE HIM. IT'S EASY FOR BITFLIP TO GET TUNNEL VISION WHEN ACHEIVING A GOAL, AND THAT CAN MAKE HIM FORGET OTHERS HAVE FEELINGS AND NEEDS.
FIGHTING STYLE: BIT'S FIGHTING STYLE CAN ONLY BE DESCRIBED AS 'CHAOTIC', HE PREFERS TO FIGHT DEFENSIVELY, DODGING AND BLOCKING, HOPING TO EITHER TIRE OUT HIS OPPONENT OR CONVINCE THEM TO TRY MORE PEACEFUL/SEXIER MEANS OF CONFLICT RESOLUTION. HE RUNS HEAD FIRST INTO A FIGHT WITHOUT ANY PLAN OF ACTION, MAKING IT UP AS HE GOES ALONG; USING THE ENVIRONMENT AROUND HIM TO HIS ADVANTAGE. IF HOWEVER THE OPPONENT IS TOO STRONG, UNWAVERING OR OTHERWISE COMPLETELY IRREPREHENSIBLE, BIT HAS A WIDE ARRAY OF MOVES AND POWERS TO BEAT THEM DOWN AND ULTIMATELY 'DELETE' THEM.
BITFLIP ALSO LEARNS VARIOUS MOVES FROM WATCHING FIGHTING VIDEOS ONLINE, HE HAS A LOT OF HIS OWN MOVES TOO WHICH INCLUDE:
MONKEY FIST: BALLING UP THE END OF HIS TAIL, BIT CAN ESSENTIALLY USE IT AS A LONG FIST THAT REACHES FURTHER THAN HIS OWN TWO PAWS. TAIL BLAST: USING HIS TAIL AGAIN, BIT CAN FIRE OUT A BLAST OF ENERGY IN ANY DIRECTION.
UST: BIT CAN TURN HIS TAIL INTO A PLUG, WHICH HE CAN USE TO HACK INTO CERTAIN PROGRAMS.
DOCKING BIT'S MOST FAMOUS AND MOST DANGEROUS MOVE, IS TO 'DOCK' WITH THE MALWARE. THIS IS BASICALLY A NICE WAY OF SAYING HE LETS THEM FUCK HIM, SO THAT HE CAN BE FILLED WITH THEIR 'DATA', WHICH BITFLIP CAN THEN USE AGAINST THEM LATER. THIS IS HIS MOST POWERFUL MOVE, AS IT ALLOWS HIM TO STEAL SOME OF THEIR POWERS, AND ALSO GIVES BIT THEIR SOURCE CODE. PULLING THIS OFF IS A HUGE RISK TO BITFLIP, AS THE MALWARE IS BASICALLY SO CLOSE IT COULD KILL HIM INSTANTLY. ONCE BITFLIP GETS THEIR DATA, IT CAN THEN BE ANALISED BY BITFLIP TO FIND THE CODE THAT WILL REMOVE THE VIRUS, IT IS THEN LOADED INTO HIS GUN - THE WIZARD, AND BLASTED BACK AT THE ENEMY TO PERMANENTLY REMOVE THEM. THIS IS ULTIMATELY BIT'S FINISHING MOVE IN A LOT OF FIGHTS, AS HIS OBJECTIVE IS TO KILL ALL VIRUSES.
One of my favorite tropes to put in stories is “video game come to life”. Or “piece of media in general come to life”. But what types of media would the DHMIS characters be from (besides the series itself)? Here’s some ideas:
The main trio: Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared if it were really for children and not a horror. Or I could keep everything as is; this would just have to be a world where they’d allow Roy’s version to air.
Sketchbook: A children’s art program, like Kid Pix.
Tony: An educational PC game that teaches math. Telling time falls under math, right?
EDIT: History. How could I forget about history.
Shrignold: An 80’s cartoon about love and friendship, like Care Bears. I’ll need to see if they had that sort of thing in the UK.
Colin: He’s the computer the protagonist uses to play the sentient game! That, or he’s in a tutorial on how to use Windows 95 or something.
Health Band: Series of commercials about healthy eating. I like to think they introduce a bizarre new nutrition facts label that was used for exactly three weeks before they switched to the current one.
Lamp: A PC game that contains various bedtime stories it reads aloud to the player.
Briefcase: He’s the mascot for a job search website! Brendan may also be there.
Coffin: A Halloween special
Lillie and Todney: I can see them in a camera commercial. Or a VHS tape called “Inspirational Family Songs”.
Warren: A PSA on respectful behavior. Except he’s only in the first version; they remade it after too many schools complained he was annoying. Now the first version is lost media!
Train: Thomas the Tank Engine parody. Or perhaps a mostly live action children’s show about a group of kids with a friend who can turn into any type of transport and take them on adventures.
Electracey: Chuck E. Cheese’s style restaurant.
Roy: An unaired pilot that consists solely of Roy staring at the camera for the whole 22 minutes. No one knows why the creator thought it would get picked up.
Lesley: She’s the host of a Twilight Zone-esque variety show. A new freaky story every week!
Chapter 1 - Departure (I)
Tumblr media
Fic summary: The second arc of my Armitage Hux x OC fanfic, “chocolate cookies and tarine tea”, in which both need to deal with the mess they got into (and each other, eh eh eh). Involves cookies that won't be eaten and tea that will get spilled. Same goes for certain feelings... they are going to be hungry ant thirsty 😏
You can find the link to AO3 and other chapters on Tumblr in the pinned message on my dash, both for the first and second arc 😊
Rating: Explicit. This is going to be very NSFW. So, Minors, do NOT read or interact. 18+. Family, friends and colleagues, please don’t read this. :’-)
Tags & warnings: TRoS fix-it (kind of), Hux!lives, Hux doesn’t like Kylo, Not a Redemption Arc, maybe a little bit, shameless fem!OC insert (there are cliches but entertaining ones imo), slow emotional burn, medium sexual burn, Enemies to Enemies With Benefits to Lovers, Hux is still a villain don't forget, Virgin Characters, masturbation against the door, pinv, Unresolved Sexual Tension, Awkward Sexual Situations, Past Child Abuse, dubious first kiss, Dom/sub Undertones, Mental Breakdown, Unprotected Sex, wet Hux, that deserves a tag/warning on its own, Minor Character Death
A/N:     Hello dear, it's been a while! I wasn’t actually planning on publishing yet (I still need to finish up the header and the last scene) but after attending star wars celebration I am so high on Hux again! As an extra, I'm also uncharacteristically impulsive. This is not going to end well, ah ah ah.
Arc 2 has been written, up till some very *interesting * scenes! The whole thing got out of hand a bit, I already have almost 23k words for part 1 of this arc (part 2 will follow with the same amount, but still working it through) I should be able to more or less update on a regular basis for the next 11 chapters now, since I only need to review them!
Because I know some of you have read arc 1 a good while ago, let me give you this short recap: Hux, Miko and PC just left Utapau Four and are heading to Taris, so they can obtain the coördinates to the Resistance base. Hux has been in a stressful and frustrated mood (at least, more than usual), while Miko is gloomy from trying to deal with her new reality: she might not be able to return to her home for good.
Get ready for a whole whirlwind of (mis)adventures.
Armitage was looking to the everlasting hyperspace clouds, as if he was paying attention to it for the first time in his life. If Miko wanted to start a conversation - which she certainly didn’t - his intense gaze would've stopped her from doing so. She wondered what he was thinking, looking so serious and focussed on the void ahead.
This time however, she mused, the silence didn’t feel loaded and somehow had turned into something comforting. They had an actual plan and could focus on the upcoming mission. Everything was more or less under control.
Miko felt like she finally had the time to study her companion. From the seat she was in, she noticed he was frowning deeply, and she could guess by that serious stern look on his face, he was thinking about the current bantha poodo he was in.
She sat back in the co-pilot 's chair while keeping an eye on his side profile. She knew by now he had done some horrible things - based on her father's reaction - although she didn't know the exact details.
Thinking back to the way he introduced himself to her with so much flair, his previous position within the military must’ve meant everything to him. The First Order was probably the only life he knew. And she doubted one could become a general by playing along nicely, so he probably has done and sacrificed a lot to get in that seat.
Still, he betrayed all that. For what?
Her mind wandered back to the time he miraculously woke up beneath her, onboard the Steadfast . She really was convinced he was dead at the time. She could remember the shock she felt, when she unceremoniously had fallen down on his limp body. But the memory was blurred by the storm of emotions and adrenaline she went through that moment.
Did I really somehow… revive him, like he said? How could that be even frigging possible?
The girl looked at her hands and slowly turned them around, trying to see if something happened if she tensed the muscles in her fingers.
Of course, it was to no avail, making her wonder if he was just making things up for some obscure reason. But why would he do that?
Nothing made sense these past days . The chaos, violence, the unexpected get-away, everything was wearing her down.
She slowly looked back to the ex-general and noticed how his jaw was slightly moving.
Was he grinding his teeth… again ?
At this moment, she was absolutely positive this man was full of frustrations and looking at the bags under his bloodshot eyes and his pale skin, the stress was eating him slowly but surely.
She closed her eyes. If she was not going to stop paying attention to him, she was going to start getting worked up as well, and that wouldn’t help them any further.
After a short pause, Miko felt relatively at ease again and decided to follow Hux’ gaze, so she started staring at the hyperspace clouds as well. They were somehow enchanting, the slight rotation of the ship making the clouds swirl and giving the space outside a dreamy aura.
Honestly, right now, this all felt like a bad dream. She had always wanted to leave Utapau Four behind, and she used to fantasise about steering her own ship, drifting through hyperspace, from system to system. Seeing the most beautiful parts of the galaxy. Looking for a place with more purpose to land.
She once wished for adventure, but now, the sting of hastily having to say goodbye to her father, maybe for good, was reminding her that she wasn't living her dream. This was all too real and absolutely not how she wanted to leave her home behind.
She felt the urge to cry slowly rising from her chest, but she refused to give in to those feelings, especially around that pompous manipulative asshole. She gulped and kept her head down, trying to find tranquillity once again.
Only a few seconds later, she noticed a small but very irritating noise originating from the left. She looked back at Hux, who was now grinding his teeth so loud she could hear it from her seat and it was not helping her current emotional state.
Kriff.
‘Could you please stop doing that?? It’s not good for both your teeth and my headache’, she said, grumbling, only then realising she was again talking before thinking things through.
This frigging bastard had almost choked me to death, if it wasn’t for PC , she hastily reminded herself, cold sweat appearing on her backside.
But the next thought that entered her worked up mind, were those glassy eyes again. Almost instantly she felt her cheeks go red, betrayed by her own thoughts, so she swiftly diverted her attention to the other side of the shuttle and gulped. She sincerely hoped he wouldn't turn around and see the blush under the dim light.
Unfortunately, Hux decided to redirect his energy from destroying his teeth to destroying any hope for a normal conversation, and he slowly faced her.
‘Just who do you think you’re talking to?’ he replied with a low voice, giving her a dangerous look, as if she had done something extremely rude. Her body already involuntarily responded to his words and made her turn her attention back to him, momentarily forgetting the blush and trying to process his rude comment.
Was this the tone he normally used when a subordinate had messed up pretty bad? she absently considered, trying to find a way to explain that this reply was somehow socially acceptable in Worst Order context.
But, despite trying to negate the brusqueness in what he just said, she could not get rid of the feeling that he was intimidating her, that was for sure. And, combined with the reason she had been blushing before, he was tearing her apart with these most confusing thoughts.
Right now, under his persistent, piercing gaze, she felt like she couldn’t breathe easily, feeling mixed emotions of anger, inadequacy from her part (and for what? He didn't have anything to expect from her), getting slightly terrified and some other burning feeling from her abdomen. One that matched well with her pink cheeks.
She abruptly closed her mouth and looked away with a defying glance. There was no good verbal response she could come up with, especially since she felt like he turned her into a mess so easily.
This was a conversation she wouldn’t take any further, because it was going to end in the both of them shouting again, and maybe worse.
The next few seconds, her discomfort only escalated further into distress. Miko felt like she was walking on thin ice, scared to accidentally provoke him. Not that she was convinced there were any actual triggers, but the thought of his hands around her throat tended to do that to her. So, she decided she didn’t want to stay in the same room with him any more and left the cockpit without a word.
Armitage watched Miko’s back when she retreated from the cockpit. He made notice of her posture, which wasn't reflecting her usual defiance. Unlike their other unfortunate encounters, she looked a bit resigned but mainly confused, most likely too emotionally disturbed to be thinking clearly. Her face looked a bit worked up, too.
Thinking back on what he just said to her, he may have been overreacting due to his train of thoughts. She didn't actually say something offensive, although it was much more straightforward than any other conversation he has had in the past years.
Taking into account that she already looked off, he hoped she wasn’t going to do anything stupid because of his response.
Given her mood though, he opted not to go after her, and wait in the cockpit a little longer. The atmosphere was already loaded enough and he wasn't looking forward to more energy consuming drama or useless fights.
He automatically turned his attention back to the hyperspace void in front of him and picked up where his thoughts were left, before her intermission.
The stress started eating at him again. He wasn’t used to having time for anything, and now he sat there, waiting, counting the hours before he was to be delivered to the enemy, at his own suggestion, no less.
Was he going to be able to break Ren? How much more did he need to give up so he could remove that idiot, who knocked him from his ambitious trajectory? Is it all going to be worth it and what's going to be left of the First Order in the end? Will there be a chance for him to start over and get in charge again?
There had to be, it was the only life he knew. He had been there, only a little five year old boy, when the Order rose from the ashes of the Empire. So many sacrifices, harsh decisions and risks were taken to become what they were. He personally had pushed himself to the limits, over the limits, sometimes to the brink of insanity, to achieve greatness for the First Order.
His mind wandered further,  thinking back about the choices he made, the career path he chose and pushed himself forward for.  The way he crawled up to the chain of command.
Yes, corruption was within their ranks. He wasn’t clean of those tactics either, but that’s part of the game. He learned those tricks from his father.
Armitage grimaced at the thought of the latter, and how he made sure the younger Hux understood his teachings.
There’s no way one could keep his hands clean in achieving leadership. But at least, he knew how the giant war machine worked, something Ren lacked. They all underestimated him, they didn't understand how far he was willing to go and up till now that had always worked in his advantage.
The empire had shown that a strong hand was imperative to attain peace, but it was too flawed. And with insane emotionally unstable idiots like Ren at the top, the First Order was risking the same end. Something had to be done.
But, after literally leaking the Emperor's message to the resistance and letting high ranked resistance members escape, will he ever be able to seize command? Maybe he did go too far, this time?
 He didn’t have many allies left. Phasma perished as did Snoke. Lower officers like Mitaka could prove to be loyal to him, given Ren’s outbursts on the personnel. But in high command, he was losing popularity because of Starkiller and the Fulminatrix.
And then there was that huge factor he hadn’t taken into account properly.
Pryde.
He knew of the sick prick and his reserve forces, but none of the acting officers of the First Order out in the outer rim were aware of how Pryde had strengthened their numbers so fast. The so-called allegiant-general had become a powerful and influential player. Suddenly, the tables had turned and both Pryde and Ren almost succeeded in removing him from the board of command.
Then came Palpatine 's message, and it was as if it announced Hux's demise. Pryde convinced his loyal allegiant officers that going after the message would bring them significant strategic advantages, while Ren was not open for reason.  Hux was automatically on the other end of the bargain, and thus enemy number one within the Order's upper ranks.
How convenient for both.
He felt his palms grow sticky beneath his leather gloves. He could try to come up with alternative tactics, go over the scenarios over and over again, but he already knew in the back of his mind that there was no better option than the way too risky plan he had picked now.
His jaw felt stiff and was starting to hurt from the constant pressure, the sting bringing him back to the present. He sighed deeply and rubbed his nasal bone.
On second thought, getting into some drama or a fight with Miko suddenly feels much more appealing than drowning in these thoughtlines , he scoffed.
A/N: I'm ignoring Sloane for a minute because we don't know what happened to her, same goes for Thrawn. They will have a cameo later on though! I love them too much not to include them 🥰
✧✧✧On this day Kirsis was born✧✧✧
Lol this is just my fancy way of saying that it's my birthday today. Yup, January 1st is THE day for me. Not even talking in RP, I the owner of this blog was born on this day.
Lol time for me to write like bullet points on a TWST au for Kirsis, the OC I use sometimes as my sona for this account.
Twisted Wonderland headcannon for Kirsis
Kirsis would technically be based off Oswald the Lucky Rabbit
I'm going the Epic Mickey route where people forgot about Oswald. So in TWST, Kirsis has a curse on him that makes people forget about him.
It gets kinda frustrating sometimes because Kirsis gets mistaken for either a visitor at Night Raven College or some students think he is looking for someone at the college
He sits at the back of classes so he doesn't get the repetitive questioning from teachers
Yes he still does his assignments, by name he is in the school system, people just forget he is there. So he still gets graded on things.
He would be assigned to the Ignihyde dorm since he indulges in tech stuff such as PC building, playing video games, doing art, and sometimes dabbles in learning how to engineer
Because of his curse, people don't remember who occupies the room that he is in, but they know that someone definitely lives there.
Once MC shows up at Night Raven, things change a little since the curse didn't seem to affect MC's memories of Kirsis
Kirsis would develop some attachment to MC since they really were the only one who they could really have a full conversation with and have it not be forgotten the next day
Kirsis would hang around the Ramshackle door sometimes when he wasn't working on school work or just keeping to himself
He'd be an honorary Ramshackle member at least in MC's eyes
Grim does forget about Kirsis and at this point MC and Kirsis just have a scripted dialogue on how to introduce Kirsis to him whenever Grim was around
Kirsis birthday event scenario
Kirsis never really celebrated his birthday after he was cursed since there wasn't a point to if he couldn't really celebrate it with others
Things changed when MC was around
Though MC would arrange for a small surprise party for their friend
MC was setting up the party which lead to a misconception with Ace thinking that MC was planning a birthday party for themselves
So Ace attempted to tell others about it to make surprise visits to the small party and it caused more people to spread it around
Word got to the Diasomnia dorm, which derailed the message into people such as Silver and Sebek thinking that MC was making a surprise birthday party for Lilia since Lilia actually shares the same birthday as Kirsis
Poor MC and Grim
What was once a small party of 3 turned out to be a party of around 25
MC and Grim definitely had to scatter around to accommodate last minute for more people showing up
Things got messy when Lilia showed up (with Silver and Sebek dragging him to the dorm) at the same time Kirsis did
MC had to clear it up to people that the party was intended for Kirsis
Which everyone was confused who that was, and Kirsis felt a bit embarrassed and ashamed
Though before things would escalate, Lilia, while not remembering who Kirsis was, would calm things down by saying that while everyone thought they were here for just him, they should also be welcoming to Kirsis also especially since the party was made for him anyways
Lilia would basically reassure Kirsis that he's sharing the spotlight too
And they both stuck together during the whole party with MC also jumping in to talk to the two
Kirsis knows that everyone but MC will forget about him, but he'll cherish the day for what it was
Especially since his friend MC went out of their way to make this surprise birthday party a reality
And for that, they truly felt glad to celebrate their birthday with people after a long while of not doing so
✨ Barbara Healer Build (Bloom Team) ✨
Tumblr media
💦 Ever since they introduced dendro element into the game, it started changing the way of the old meta build. In this case, after eons of not playing with Barbara, I take her out again for my bloom team. She was stuck at level 70 for the longest time until I re-built her for bloom team.
💦 The build itself is slightly different in terms of artifact set and the subtats that we're looking for. If all this time we mostly build Barbara as pure healer (or dps, depending on what you like), this time she becomes the hydro applier as well as healer of the team.
💦 Disclaimer: This build is not perfect and by no means should be treated as a rigid rule. I just share what I have tested in game and what I know works for me. So always do your own research and take my guide with that note in mind!
Artifact Sets
Tumblr media
💦 In this version of build, instead of using Maiden or Ocean Hued, I put 4 pc Gilded Dreams on her. All of the main stats remain the same as her healer build: hp% sands, hp% goblet, and healing bonus circlet. Mostly because Nilou already wields her signature weapon which adds bonus EM to the entire party so putting triple EM on Barbara would be too much.
💦 Otherwise, if you don't have anyone who wields Khaj Nisut in your party, it's best to put triple EM on Barbara.
💦 Bloom team requires high number of EM. She also needs to be at level 90 cuz transformative damage scales with the character's level and their EM.
Team Composition
Tumblr media
💦 This is my current bloom team. I don't have Nahida, so she's replaced with dendro Traveler. Running with 2 hydro in the team helps boosting the party's hp which means more damage for Nilou and more heal for Barbara.
💦 In the future if there's another dendro healer, you can definitely switch Barbara out with them.
Weapon Choice
Tumblr media
💦 Here are some choice I think can fit into Barbara in bloom team. The one I'm currently using is (left) Prototype Amber cuz it helps boost her healing ability for the team. If my Nilou didn't have her signature weapon, I'd probably equip either (middle) Sacrificial Fragments or (right) Wandering Evenstar.
Important Notes
💦 Barbara will be the driver in bloom team, meaning she'll spend more time on the field to keep triggering bloom by doing constant normal attack to the enemy, so try to get as much EM as possible on her to get the bloom damage high.
So that’s pretty much my Barbara build. Feel free to ask me questions if you have any through my ask box or just leave comment on this post and I’ll respond right away!
Don’t forget to check out my other builds here!
On Evolving Tastes
1989: "I know of no other games than Super Mario Bros. 1 through 3, Tetris, Doctor Mario and Mickey's Mousecapade. This will last for a few years, until my aunt will introduce me to bootleg 300-in-one cartridges. Ironically, I'll only ever touch Yie Ar Kung Fu, Macross, Mappy, Dig Dug and City Connection."
1990: "Dad's discovered that a store near his office sells Tengen cartridges for a fraction of officially-licenced titles! He gets me Gauntlet on the super cheap, thinking I'll play it once and forget about it, but Gauntlet becomes the one game I play the most often."
1996: "Man, Earthworm Jim and Myst are going to dominate this summer vacation! I might even work in some time for a few Mortal Kombat tourneys!"
1999: "I got over my giant snob self and gave Quake and Half-Life a shot. Something's shifted, for sure. I'm not sure, but I might actually like a few shooters..."
2001: "I am a grown-ass man and I cannot stop playing The Sims. Please send help, I'm nurturing an unhealthy God complex."
2002: "I'm really mad at myself for not finding out about Vampire - The Masquerade: Redemption until two years after its release."
2004: "Vampire - The Masquerade: Bloodlines has consumed me."
2005: "Study? Yeah, sure, I do - but Unreal Tournament 2004 is where it's at - whenever Black & White 2 doesn't consume for weeks on end."
2006: "My Dad introduced me to SimCity 3000 several years too late, which is introducing me to the wacky world of PC retrogaming. I now use his beige croaker of a clerical machine to work on Isometric metropolises while snapping my fingers to some real-ass Jazz bops."
2007: "I resisted for two years, but finally caved in to Guitar Hero. It's also the best excuse I had to get a Slim PS2."
2008: "I used my paycheck from my first Real, Adult Man Job at the campus to get myself an XBOX 360 and Fable II! I'll spend years playing it while ignoring the game's obvious flaws!"
2009: "I kinda hate myself for it, but I splurged on a PS3 after a friend showed me Super Stardust HD."
2010: "Fuck you, getting myself a Wii for the express purpose of playing the Metroid Prime Trilogy. Also, ow, this exact fucking thing will also send me off to my first serious GP appointment as an adult, for a Carpal Tunnel Syndrome diagnosis. I'll spend two years wearing a wrist brace and playing through all three games in short bursts. The tendon responsible for retracting my right thumb is on permanent fire and every gameplay session puts me through a physical gauntlet, but every new gameplay component the series introduces makes me feel like a kid again."
2011: "Skyrim. Just - Skyrim. I'll perpetrate my first and only acts of professional truancy to devote entire weeks to my quest log. It helps that this winter was particularly Siberian, so I had plenty of excuses to stay home and slay dragons."
2014: "I power through Destiny on the PS3 and spend about four months being extremely hooked onto the game's universe and lore. I'll design character after character even after finishing the main quest four times, because I finally discovered what Halo stans have been enjoying for years - which is an approachable and still complex Fantasy/Sci-Fi shooter that hasn't yet lost its narrative compass...
Luckily, I also find out about Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor and realize I have a thing for Uruk-Hai labelled as "The Friendly". I'll spend a year at the pace of an hour or two per day trying to populate my two camps with nothing but Friendlies."
2015: "As is usually the case, I come into this a few years too late and discover the joy that is Saints Row: The Third. GTA never grabbed me, while Volition's total lack of self-seriousness delights me. I buy Saints Row IV immediately after finishing my first run-through, and find that Volition's writing team is the only thing that keeps me going. If it weren't for JB Blanc's mouth-watering portrayal of Emperor Zinyak, I'd be playing a fun, if average third-person shooter."
2016: "Bigger job titles means more disposable income, which means my first custom-built tower PC after years of prebuilts - and a PS4! Destiny 2 and GTA 5 are big ones on there, but the first one disappoints me with how it gatekeeps the lore behind high-skill activities that are unfriendly for players with navigational or reflex-related issues (i.e. moi) and the second turns absolutely turgid at any moment that doesn't feature Trevor Philips.
Seriously, who do I have to call at Rockstar to let them know I don't give a rat's ass about Michael DeSanta's midlife hoodlum crisis?!"
2017: "Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, baby! Copy and paste my fixation from 2014, except now Friendlies are voiced by JB Blanc. Thank fuck for apartments, 'cause I wouldn't have wanted my folks to see me aggressively blush any time a Friendly crossed swords with me, claiming to want to be my pal."
2020: "Welp, guess it's nothing except slaying demons and building an island commune on my brand-new Nintendo Switch... Oh, and wouldn't you know it, Cyberpunk 2077 just came out, and in such a state that I won't seriously touch it until September 2022..."
2021: "What's happening to me? Why am I so psyched about Power Washer Simulator? Why did I spend nearly as much time in Mechanic Simulator 2021 as I did in Skyrim? Why do I persist in being hyped for House Flipper despite reports of horribly unoptimized code?"
2022: "I might as well embrace it: I have no hair on top and grow a mo' in an afternoon, I can only maintain a very mild case of fitness and there's fifteen to twenty pounds I just can't get rid of no matter how hard I try. I am a Dad, now. I have the Dad Bod - the real one, not the one perpetuated by misaligned kiddies who'd call British Pop Music starlets Daddy - and I am now oddly hyped for Construction Simulator. I've finished Cyberpunk four times, played through Elden Ring twice, and I'm at the point where I'd honestly be excited by a game that finds some way to simplify the act of grading papers.
I dream of a twist on Papers, Please where one plays as a lecturer and where the goal of the game is to grade papers while avoiding interpersonal or professional scandals, as well as meeting faculty quotas..."
so project avroaan, which has been going for about a year and a half now, started out with two originating pairs. the intent is to get the right colors with the two right gem genes, so i’d only have to put the primary- cherub- on the final product manually. i’m also trying to minimize my nest rentals, because talking to people is hard.
of course this is hard, so those two first pairs were... very broad.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
aidziam and khusavir (respectively): raspberry/watermelon/honeydew and obsidian/obsidian/lemon. 1/28 to throw the right prim, 1/31 to throw the right sec, and 1/12 to throw the right tert. also 1/2 to throw the right tert gene, but that’s the only gene i cared about. i don’t remember what the odds are to throw a pc, but sd is a step above in rarity (they throw mostly pcs) so i wasn’t too worried about that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
milan and unsophylax (also respectively): gloom/black/spring and cherry/sanguine/leaf. 1/38 prim, 1/42 sec, 1/6 tert. 1/2 on the sec gene, but again the only gene i cared about. same as the above- they throw mostly pcs, that’s not a problem.
so i started breeding them. and breeding them. and breeding them.
(super interestingly, a note from from future kaivyrin which does become relevant: despite having worse odds milan and unsophylax have thrown significantly more useful offspring than aidziam and khusavir.)
my cull practice was pretty loose. i’d remove any offspring that don’t have the right gene for the pair, and then if the colors are too far off also get rid of them. it’s a holistic process; i have a large hibden, i can afford to hold onto a lot of offspring. this built up my stock pool of offspring i could potentially breed against one another.
(this is how i got kessla and rousse, who can throw the right colors and both the right genes. more on them later.)
eventually i got tired of just waiting for these insanely large colorpools to throw things i could use, especially because i was dealing with an sd cooldown so could only really breed once a month. (at least it’s not coatls. at least it’s not coatls.)
so i got another pair. i’ve been keeping an eye on the ah for dragons i could potentially use w new blood; i have a saved search for the color ranges i’d like to stick within.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
introducing lotineve and snowsprout! lotineve was originally going to be a replacement for aidziam to pair to khusavir, but i did a dum-dum and managed to forget she doesn’t have opal. fortunately i realized this before aidziam was exalted.
they’re rose/rose/peridot and moon/white/spring. much tighter range than either of the first two pairs- 1/6 prim, 1/7 sec, 1/3 tert. downside: they can’t throw either of the right genes or breed. this is fine! their secs and terts are both of the same rarity as the target genes, so if i can get a nice color throw from them, i can pair that offspring against one of my original pair’s kids and get a much tighter range with one of the genes available, or against one of kessla and rousse’s kids to get offspring with both of the right genes and all the right colors.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
kessla and rousse respectively: mauve/antique/radioactive and silver/wine/spring. 1/14 prim, 1/9 sec, 1/5 tert. wider than i’d like for a final pair, but if i’m just looking for someone i can breed against lotineve & snowsprout’s kids, that’s fine- i can breed them in house.
i’m not super optimistic about getting useful kids out of these two, which is why i’ve also got another option going.
recently- and here is where i get to my recent post about culling most of my accumulated stock- lotineve and snowsprout threw razelan, to whom i could pair one of my oldest stock offspring from milan and unsophylax: granitelegs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
granitelegs and razelan, respectively: pearl/bubblegum/peridot and antique/antique/peridot. 1/4 prim, 1/6 sec, 1/1 tert, and 1/2 for the right sec gene. these two are fun. these two make milan and unsophylax entirely obsolete, because they have the same chances for the secondary and much better chances for the color.
so! i now make the decision to cull milan, unsophylax, and my entire stock of their offspring. bye-bye.
i did not cull lotineve and snowsprout or their offspring (well, i started to, and then realized this was a mistake, so i did lose a good kid by accident, but eh. they’re good, they’ll throw more). despite being useless now in the granitelegs/razelan branch, i can still cross their offspring to kessla and rousse’s, in the instance that they throw something i can use. better to hold on to them.
now we come to the present day.
future plans!
i have a white/white/radioactive f noc with opal (riovi) chilling in my lair with the intent to be used in this project, though i’ve yet to find a decent male for her.
options if i get a good male for riovi from:
- auction house: replace aidziam and khusavir.
- aidziam and khusavir: i could also replace them, but then i couldn’t breed their offspring to anyone in the kessla/rousse branch, though they would still be useful in granitelegs and razelan’s.
- lotineve and snowsprout: not useful in the granitelegs/razelan branch, potentially useful in the kessla/rousse branch, or back to aidziam and khusavir’s offspring.
- kessla and rousse: replace kessla and rousse.
- granitelegs and razelan: ideal scenario, honestly. may make kessla and rousse obsolete, since this theoretical pair would have a tighter color range than them and chance for both target genes.
at the moment, i’ve got the best hopes for the first option, or getting useful kids out of granitelegs/razelan and aidziam/khusavir to cross. keeping an eye on the auction house. breeding dragons. the grind wears on.
Gunhead Review
Tumblr media
by Amr (@siegarettes)
Gunhead
Developers - Alien Trap
Publisher - Alien Trap
PC, PS5
Armed to the teeth with a shotgun, chaingun, mortar launcher and pile bunker--one weapon for each of my mech’s four arms--and with a cloak in reserve, I was equipped with the perfect loadout for big hit and run damage. The job in front of me was simple: plenty of locked doors on this ship, but with easy access to its door system it would be a non-issue, giving me a straight shot to the shield system and just enough time to splatter the brains of the craft and shut it down. The only major obstacle was the nuke system, which would set off a short range nuclear explosion when a system went down. Dismantle that and the rest was easy.
I slipped in through an airlock, took out the drones still active in the area, then shutdown the nuke system--only to be caught off guard by a slowly radiating explosion that took off several chunks of armor before driving me to retreat into a corner. In my arrogance I'd overlooked the redundancy system, which took over the nuke system the instant it shut down. The time I'd lost from my retreat gave the shuffle system enough time to activate, moving every system to a new room, and ruining my entire plan.
Tumblr media
Gunhead is a great generator for stories like this. Every stage is a miniature heist in a claustrophobic space station, taking down system after system to work your way to the squishy brains of the craft. And like a great heist story, there’s plenty of pleasure in seeing a plan come together, but the real stories are the ones where something goes wrong--where a small overlooked detail causes a chain of disasters, or your own arrogance puts you in a situation you should have never been in.
The 3D follow up to Alien Trap’s action roguelite Cryptark, Gunhead follows your small crew as you do jobs for The Corporation, pouring over blueprints, making plans and attempting to salvage what you can out of abandoned space stations.  Play cautious and careful and you generally get out with a few scrapes and a decent haul of new weapons and items. So of course The Corporation offers big bonuses to make sure you do anything but that, and makes sure to berate you when you fail to achieve them.
Tumblr media
To breach these ships you’ll hop into one of a few mechs, each with their own armaments and traversal abilities. The default has a decent blaster and a jetpack that recharges quickly, while others might exchange some armor for unlimited jetpack use, a grappling hook or load up on the armor and forget the jetpack entirely, opting for a few double jumps instead. Universal to all are the four armed weapon system, allowing you to quickly rain fire on a target when fully equipped. One of my favorite combinations was an explosive and projectile weapon on the main arms, with a grappling hook and pile bunker, allowing me to inflict big damage with hit and run tactics.
Unless you have big cash reserves, you’ll rarely be going in with your ideal loadout. Operations are subject to the luck of the draw, and while you can purchase certain weapons ahead of time, it’s not feasible to do for every run, meaning you’ll be improvising with whatever weapons and powerups you can find on the ship.
Tumblr media
The loop of planning and improvisation is the central joy of Gunhead. Satisfying weaponry and traversal are plenty common in roguelites, but the time spent on the map screen adds back a bit of the cerebral elements often cut from action roguelikes, and introduces a more immediate sense of short and long term planning to the mix. It plays well with the narrative framework, giving each level the sense that it’s another day on the job, but also a tense situation that can possibly lose thousands of dollars in assets that your team needs to keep themselves afloat. Progress IS inevitable, but success isn’t--at least not for anyone but The Corporation.
The narrative isn’t a strong presence in the game, but it is surprisingly good flavor. I often find myself quickly exhausted with quippy crew members in other games, but Gunhead’s writing and voice performances are just enough to keep the crew endearing, and not annoying. The Corporation continually watches and evaluates your every move, and the contrast between their dialogue and the crew fills in enough to suggest a greater world.
Tumblr media
The snappy pace of Gunhead, and the ability to save between stages kept me constantly revisiting it. It became a great companion for short breaks, with plenty of natural stopping points to keep the intense bouts of action from becoming fatiguing. It understands the strengths of the roguelite format, plays to them, and pairs them with action that is satisfying and dynamic, doled out at a great pace with slowly rising tension. It’s a confident game about getting in, getting out, and leaving a hell of mess for someone else to clean up.
for romance: 4,7, and 11!!!
companion au ask meme
4. Do they have a special romance scene at the tiefling/goblin party?
Yes! That's her first intimacy scene, and necessary to advance her romance, so it's not solely available at the party, but that is the first point at which you can trigger it. It starts slightly differently depending on if you sided with the Grove or with the goblins, and that difference carries through if you trigger it later. Tiefling Party: "There's the handsome hero of the hour! Nice to see you haven't forgotten about me - though it seems everyone else also wants a piece of you." > "Also?" "Too subtle? I would have thought someone like yourself would be used to people making advances." She says this with a grin and a wink, she knows you're flirting." > "I didn't know you thought of me like that." "Oh, come on, Hero, it's just some fun! Neither of us need to act like we have a schoolyard crush." She's teasing you, making fun of the idea that this is anything more than just sex. She wants to have fun, not start a storybook romance. "I'll meet you later, when people won't notice we're gone." >*Smile and wink* Goblin Party: "What do you want? Thought the rest of these wretches would keep you busy enough not to bother me." She's drinking. Her tone makes it clear she's not going to forgive this easily. > "I wanted to see how you were doing." "How I'm doing? You just led us in the cold-blooded murder of innocents, I should kill you where you stand." > "It's a little late for that." "Too true." She takes another drink from the bottle. She looks like she's thinking about something, considering. "I despise you right now, so the least you can do is make me forget this for a while. Meet me later, when no one will notice we're missing." The dialog if you trigger the scene on a night after the party is similar, but speaks about the events at the Grove/Goblin Camp as farther in the past.
7. What questions can Zethino ask the PC about Tav in the Love Test?
1. "Listen, think. Where is the ranger most comfortable?" > On horseback, in the fields around her family's farm. > Hunting, in the forests. 2. "Many things delight the heart, but only one makes it sing. Tell me, what does she love most about you? > My skill in bed. > My willingness to help those in need. 3. Even the most noble among us has a darkness in their souls. What is Tegan's greatest regret? > Making a deal with Vecna.
11. What are Tav’s plans for the future?  Do they propose to the PC, or is marriage not something they’re interested in?
Tegan doesn't care about marriage as an institution, and wouldn't even think about it if her partner doesn't bring it up. That's not to say that she wouldn't be committed to her partner, just that she doesn't see marriage as the end-all be-all of that commitment. However, she has multiple possible endings, and only one will end up with her and the PC staying together indefinitely. In the ideal ending, though, she wants to continue traveling with the PC and eventually return to her home with them so she can introduce them to her family. She knows that she could never give up adventuring, however, so the PC needs to be up for that! lol
The Harvest Life Challenge
Sul Sul, or should I say Suly Suly, Simmers! So, hey, have you heard of a game called Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life? It's a remake of the Nintendo GameCube game that came out in 2003-2004 called Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life. Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life just recently came out in late June & I enjoy watching people I watch play it. I have played the original when it came out since I own it (still have my GameCube to this day & it still works) & I love it. I should explain what the game is about. It's about farming & taking care of your farm. You have inherited a farm from your father after he passed away. Your father's friend that helped him on the farm comes to get you & helps you move to the farm & shows you what to do & introduces you to the townsfolk of Forgotten Valley (Forget-Me-Not Valley in the original). Your daily life consists of tending to the farm, tending to the animals, selling & buying things, going around & getting to know everyone better, & even find some love interests. After chapter 1, you get a spouse & over time, you have a child. You raise them over the years as you do your usual things off & on the farm. You can raise them to either inherit the farm from you or have them pursue something they have gotten interested in over the years. All in all, a wonderful & beautiful game. Anyway, I have decided to make a challenge based off of it called the Harvest Life Challenge.
Summary: You are living a normal life (in any of the worlds) when your father's friend (not partner) comes by from your father's farm in another world (farm should be in Henford-On-Bagley) & tells you that your father has passed away & that you have inherited his farm. Of course, you accept & pack your things & leave with him to your father's farm that is now your farm. You arrive there & look around & then you go into town with your father's friend & meet the townsfolk there. After you meet everyone, you head on home with your father's friend & you go into your house & he goes to his house (he has his own little house on the lot). From that day on, you live your life as a farmer & a friend to the townsfolk & a while later a parent to your children.
Challenge Info
Sims: 2 (your Sim & your Sim's father's friend) & then later on, add your spouse to family
Children: As many as you want (in the original game, you have only one, but do what you want in the Sims.)
Animals: A dog in the beginning & then a cow (maybe a llama as well, if you want) & over time, a horse, sheep, & goats (if you have Cottage Living & Horse Ranch) & maybe a cat (only if you want to).
Aspiration(s): Freelance Botanist, Country Caretaker, or a custom aspiration if you use mods & play on PC (I found one called Fabulous Farmer Aspiration by JaneSimsten (it's also on her Patreon besides Mod The Sims), which practically combines Freelance Botanist & Country Caretaker from what I have read. (You can also use the first two one at a time if you don't do custom aspirations) or if you don't have the packs with the aspirations, just choose one that is similar to any of them.
Tips: Keep your Sim's father's friend alive throughout your Sim's entire life, even after your Sim passes away & also keep your Sim's spouse alive as well.
Lifespan: Normal or long lifespan. If you want to, you can have aging off & age them when you want to keep it at a steady pace.
Packs & Kits: Any (I am doing this in case anyone can play it & they have all, some, or just the base game.)
Custom Content & Mods: Yes, you can use CC & mods. If you play vanilla & just some or no mods, that's fine as well. It's for anyone to enjoy.
Extra: If you want to, you can continue playing & follow the heir, if they inherited the farm or not. Also, if you want, you can bring your Sim back to life & play them again. You can use Ambrosia to bring them back to life. Age them down to adult (also their spouse) & fully have aging off. If you choose to do this, it can be known as the Heaven part. It happens in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life if you continue to play. You can make it a legacy, if you want to. I don't mind at all. I just want everyone to enjoy my first challenge. You can also make nectar to help the farm out & to build it up more (if you have Horse Ranch).
Conclusion
Well, I hope that you have fun playing this challenge. It was so much fun writing this. I wrote this on paper so I know what to put. This was my first ever challenge that I have ever written. I don't really do challenges since I always play with a single family or 2 households in one (4 in one family & 4 in the other usually) & I play with occults (mostly spellcasters, vampires, werewolves, & mermaids). I also don't do pets at all (they need a lot of attention) in game, but I will have my Sims have mini sheep & mini goats since they don't take up household slots like cats, dogs, & horses do. Let me know if you play this challenge & how you enjoy it. I am open to criticism. Until next time, Simmers! Dag Dag!
