I’m just curious, I’ve seen you mention Mormons a couple times (something about Nia too that I forgot) and I’m curious if you’re like, post/ex Mormon or Mormon-adjacent or something? long story somewhat short is that me & my immedeate family left the church when i was like 12 when my dad came out as gay, but i personally specifically didnt go to church much before that bc my Neurodivergencies made it hard so my parents basically gave up on trying to wrangle me every time id have a meltdown about it (long and boring + uncomfortable clothes i hate = disaster for the undiagnosed adhd trans egg and his parents) so its not like i was too indocternated in the church & all in all i came out surprisingly (but not completely) unscathed. i hear stuff from when my parents were younger and im like "fucking WHAT" like all of the time

but like it was still a big enough thing in my life for me to hc characters (modern!Nia) or see paralells in media (the church of Helios) or even write my own characters as ex-mormon (HWU!Avalon)

so me mentioning mormonism is kinda like 50/50 dunking on the old religion / feeling empathy for ppl that are stuck in a place that is not right for them. maybe more like 40/60, it really depends on what im talking about

While I do totaly understand how Fitz's reply to Nettle in their ride from Jaamphe in Fool's Assassin is seen as just a silly attempt to deny queerness , there is actually a lot to analyse about it!

When you dissect it it actually shows Fitz's failure to both bridge the gap separate his and Beloved's relationship with/from queerness, and the Six Duchies' understanding of it.

Let me explain.

The view in the Six Duchies on queer relationships* seems to be that they are Scandelous relationships that are purely sexual.

The homophobia we see from the characters shows that: When Starling was insulting Fitz she said that she was sure he whispered Molly's name while Lord Golden was fucking him; when Dutiful asked Fitz if he and Lord Golden were sleeping together, but not if they were in a relationship; when Chade told Fitz he knew he didnt sleep with men; Lant saying he was afraid when he first met Fitz because he heard rumers Tom Badgerlock also desired men.

Even during The Quarell Fitz talked about that same sexual aspect, saying he would never want to sleep with the Fool.

When Nettle asked him about his and Lord Golden's relationship, and if the rumors about them were true, she brought back that old idea of the Scandelous, purely sexual nature of queer relationships.

And that wasn't what Fitz and Beloved's relationship was.

Whether or not you interprit Fitz being secualy attracted to Beloved, their relationship was not what the Six Duchies' idea of queer relationships was. It was an emotional connection that their relationship was built on, not a purely sexual one with no care beyond sexual desire.

Which is why Fitz said there was nothing "improper" about their bond. Why Fitz said that what they had wen far beyond that.

Fitz was still unable to separate the idea of being in a relationship with Beloved with that view of queerness (he almost did, by the end of Fool's Fate, but whatever progress he made was undone by him repressing his love for Beloved all those years apart. Admitting he loved Beloved would have meant he was not able to pretend he got the Happy Ending he so desprately clung to, buts thats a whole other post).

But thats just the part about him not being able to seprate queer relationships from the view on them in the Six Duchies. Because of those views, he doesn't know how to recognise his feellings for Beloved (and other men) as what they are.

When Riddle told him how he remembered that he and Beloved were "very close" Fitz didn't oject like he has done with the acusations/questions that were related to the supposed sexual nature of his relationship with Lord Golden. He hadn't replied with anything, but mentioned that his silence said more than any thing he could have said himself.

When meeting with Carson, Fitz immidietly mentions how he felt a "feelling that sometimes comes of insant connection, a deep friendship that could have been".

Lets dissect that aswell, since I already put this under a readmore and dont care about how long this post gets. (@tragediegh and I talk about this quote every couple of days so everything I say here is recicled from our dms lol)

"Instant connection, a deep friendship that could have been," implies that the relationship Fitz is thinking he would have is very close, but it is not based on an actual expirience with that person, rather their first impression on Fitz - their vibe and how they look (interesting how Fitz says it about Carson, a gay man).

"That sometimes comes" shows that it is an - if not a common one - an occurence that happened multiple times.

This sounds like someone describing a crush/romantic atraction without knowing that what they are feelling is that!

The reason Fitz describes it as a "deep friendship" and "instant connection" and not "romantic feellings towards men" is because how he still view queer relationships from that homophobic view the Six Duchies have, and because of that is unable to connect his feellings towards men (amd beloved) to what they are.

...

* mlm relationships, technically. We havn't seen what they think of sapphic ones (even in The Willful Princess and the Piebald Prince Felicity mentions how possible homophobia only briefly, though they do seem to not consider lesbian sex as not actual sex which makes since with how their culture views reproduction) and I'm pretty sure Six Duchies people don't know about trans/genderqueer people because *gestures to everything*

Strap in, this is a longish one.

My dad has been the general manager at his pizzaria for a few years. He has a workplace rivalry with another manager, a man we'll call Jim.

Now, Jim has Problems. He's been battling leukemia for 10 years, he has chronic joint pains, he's an alcoholic, and he's addicted to narcotics. So, and excuse my language, he's slowly become more and more of a Cunt over time.

When my dad was first hired as a delivery driver, he walked in on Jim having an affair with another driver. Nothing Super Scandelous, he was just resting his hand on her thigh as they were talking. My dad had a tendency to not think abt the things he says, and so he offhandedly mentioned it to the owner, their boss.

You can imagine that this PR fiasco triggered a businessman panic. Jim and the driver were fired pretty much immediately, but they were eventually hired back on.

Ever since dad got promoted to general manager, Jim has been on the warpath. The boss's mom in Iran is dying, so he takes frequent trips over to be with her and help in the death care and preparations, and leaves dad Fully in charge as an extension of himself. Whenever the boss is overseas, Jim activates. It started small, with general defiance and attitude, whenever dad asked him to do things. But eventually, it got worse.

Jim, altho a manager, enjoys doing waitstaff activities because he makes bank in tips. So he's often the one running the floor. One day, dad decided to check on and help a table as he was making his rounds, taking a break from the office. And that's when the pattern started.

Whenever he sees dad at one of His tables, Jim will waltz over and yell at dad for "messing with his tables", undermining him in front of the customer. At first, dad was chill. He obliged, and then pulled Jim aside to be like, "If you have something to say to me, never say it in front of the customer. It's embarrassing." Dad reported it to the boss and continued. The boss reprimanded Jim as soon as he got back, and things were mostly back to how they were.

The exact same scenario happened once more sometime later and went about the same way. But the other day, it was a new level. A woman flags down dad, and says how the waiter brought out everybody else's salads and her dressing, so she assumed he forgot her salad and she'd like to eat it alongside her friends. Dad gets her salad and hands it to her when Jim appears.

"Don't mess with my tables! Her salad was coming out with her sandwich!" Jim grabbed hold of the plate in the woman's hands and began trying to pull it away. The customer was in shock and disbelief as she firmly held on to her plate. Eventually, she let go. Dad calmly took the plate back and walked away, getting to hear the woman tell Jim, in a timid and still shocked voice, "Um, actually, I asked him to get that for me."

Dad now refuses to help Jim with anything or clean up after him. He's gonna play the stupid game, he's gonna win the stupid prize of his job being 10x harder.

We're currently waiting for the boss's trip to be over so he and dad can have a Real conversation about Jim's abhorrent behavior and his future at the restaurants.

I saw someone's modern AU fanart of some Naruto characters and when I saw Gaara it made me wonder...

How might we adapt Gaara's canon backstory into a modern no-powers AU so that he goes through a fairly similar character arc, with his relationships with his siblings and other characters being as faithful as possible to the original series...?

And I'm tentatively leaning towards untreated schizophrenia and subsequent insomnia to explain the lack of sleep and other characters' fear of him, followed later by his improved mental health and social relationships.

The insomnia would of course be caused by the schizophrenia (Shukaku won't stop screaming), and as for the schizophrenia...

In addition to the the obvious (talking to people who aren't there, etc)—I know television isn't the best source, but...

From what I remember of Fight Club and Mr Robot, from the outside the schizophrenia would sometimes appear like Dissociative Identity Disorder instead, where actions taken by the hallucination (Shukaku) would in reality be performed by the individual who is hallucinating (Gaara).

So Shukaku attacking people or saying creepy shit would manifest as little Gaara doing that instead—hence his siblings', father's, and the other townspeople's fear of him.

The only issue would be Gaara's Sand Defense...

Part of what made him so scary to everyone was that he was untouchable. Nothing you did would ever phase him; there was way for you to hurt him.

And for that, I am also tentatively considering giving him congenital insensitivity to pain—also known as CIP.

Something you've probably heard of before, CIP is when a person is unable to feel pain.

It's actually incredibly dangerous—imagine having appendicitis but not realizing until it's already too late because you're unable to feel it—but the reason I'm considering giving it to Gaara is because while it would not make him invincible—far from it, actually—it would instead give him the appearance of invulnerability.

Can you imagine seeing a kid get stabbed or break an arm or something, and he just stands there, completely unaffected, completely unfazed...

A little kid, just five years old or something, and he just looks down at the knife in his wherever and just...pulls it out. Without blinking.

An adult would find that creepy. But a kid, the same age as him? They would probably think him immortal or something. Invincible. Unkillable.

Little baby Gaara, unable to feel pain and suffering from untreated schizophrenia and subsequent insomnia... Why is it untreated? Because his father's an asshole, that's why.

Luckily when he's twelve his father gets murdered and him and his siblings are taken in by family friend Baki.

In the wake of the murder and subsequent scandel, Baki ends up deciding that it'd be a good idea for them to move—to get away from all of this.

They go to a new school where no one knows Gaara but they quickly become wary of him anyway because of his behavior...

Enter Naruto.

Naruto, who was put on medication for schizophrenia just a few months ago or so.

Naruto, who grew up hated by those around him because his similarly schizophrenic mother killed his father and herself after someone snuck into the hospital, into the private VIP section reserved for the president's wife (this is going a bit off the rails, whoops), and slipped some strong drugs into her IV which induced severe hallucinations and caused her paranoia to skyrocket—

(She was already at risk because she temporarily had to go off her meds since they would mess with the pregnancy and put both her and the baby at risk, but it should've never gotten to that point, it never should've gotten that bad, that out of hand—it was entirely That Man's fault, not that anyone acknowledged that afterwards...

Damnit, Obito.

No, they found out Kushina was schizophrenic and they all automatically blamed her, assumed that her being schizophrenic made her dangerous and unsafe to be around, and that her son would be just like her...)

Naruto, who grew up with the adults around him constantly expecting him to snap—their wariness causing a similar wariness (distrust, distaste, avoidance) in their children.

Naruto notices Gaara, and he gets him help—tells Kakashi-sensei who tells Baki who had up till now had been warily avoiding the child, taking notes from Gaara's shitty father, and not bothering to consider why Gaara behaved the way he did...

Gaara is taken to get help. He's prescribed medication and eventually starts to get better, bit by bit. Shukaku quiets and Gaara is finally able to sleep—which surprisingly (it really shouldn't be surprising) does wonders for his mental health.

And throughout all of this, Naruto is an invaluable presence—the wonder that is having a friend who understands, and who isn't afraid of him...

Anyway, yeah. That's how I think it could work—just replace jinchūriki with schizophrenia basically... Plus some other stuff.

Actually gonna go kinda in deapth with this one hold on

As I've mentioned, Floofty and Pansey used to be research partners, this was before floofty was fired because of the scandel with the government funded research project w/ Snorpy.

Pansey and Floofty worked together for about 2 years and became very close not only as colleagues but as freinds.

And as I've also mentioned, Floofty and Pansey had a falling out. To make a long story short, there was an argument, and an accident. Neither were fully at fault, but they both felt equally betrayed by the other.

Pasney eventually ended up working at the wildlife conservation center. They help to rehabilitate animals into the wild, as well as doing presentations and public speaking.

Fast forward to Lizbert’s expedition, Pansey and Lizbert were actually good freinds, and they did plan on attending, but they were a bit on the fence about it even from the beginning. Their decision to stay behind was made when they found out who the expedition team was, and also because of an "icky feeling" they had about the whole situation.

As you can imagine, once the expedition team returned with two grumpus's missing and an incredibly fake story in the news, Floofty was the first person they went to for answers.

I'm actually thinking of writing a fanfic about themm so ermmm if ur interested lmk

9) You're mad/ashamed/horrified you actually kind of like... :

I cannot think of a single thing in fandom that i am ashamed of liking. I've written and posted dark fic of many flavors. I've told my mom about it and sent her the links to my ao3 page. My spouse is aware of my hobbies and says, "I support you and whatever fucked up thing brings you happiness."

When i first started writing and posting stuff, i marinated in shame and horror over what i was writing. It was so scandelous! My face felt like it was on fire from the blushing every second I typed.

Then i realized that shame is for the weak and i refused to be ashamed of something that harms no one and brings me an incredible amount of joy.

I have found that one of my core fandom niches is making other people look at fics/ships/kinks that they would have *never* thought they'd like and then awakening something in them, to the point where they are asking for more please.

.... sometimes i'm mad because there are things/ships i'd love to see fic on but its not a thing yet? So that means i need to make it. Which is fine! I love making stories and art! But also it can be tiring to need to do it myself, pfffft. I do the whole Be The Change You Want To See thing for fic a lot.

Why Fitz is the One of the Most Thematic

In my opinion, Fitz is one of the most thematic character in the series besides Rayni or Prentice. He is a Vacker, and the Vackers are the epitome of elven culture. Yet, in the Vacker family there are scandels and hidden darkness, and the perfection that needs to be maintained in being Vacker becomes crippling to the family members. Likewise, being an elf and being apart of the elven society seems so perfect and everyone is happy on the outside, but so many flaws and ugly cases are swept under that rug of perfection. Both of these prove that no system really can be perfect and things have to change at some point. So, while Fitz has built his entire life around being a perfect Vacker, under glaring scrutiny, the world around him is changing and suddenly these systems that have built him up are crumbling down, so he too is breaking down. Without the expectations of being the perfect Vacker and elf (like having a strong ability, being the best at foxfire, finding the perfect match on your match list that will make your children the strongest etc etc), he seems...useless. In fact, Rayni (who I mentioned to be an incredibly thematic character, who REALLY highlights how the systems are flawed) points this out in Stellarlune, calling him a "backup" and questioning what his real use is.

I mean, imagine everything that once made you great being stripped away, and realizing everything you worked for your entire life was all for nothing because apparently it's all wrong. That's what is happening to Fitz, and what will happen to many elves if Sophie can bring true change to the Lost Cities (why did that sound kind of like those summaries on the backs of books).

Fitz’s struggle as a character illuminates how superficial elven success is, and how elves should find meaning somewhere other than being perfect, having the strongest natural ability, having the greatest status and such. It’s pretty satisfying when you look at him that way. Just wish he’d be promoted from the role of Love Interest, and that Shannon would actually explore his character, because it could be really powerful to the story.

SO YEAH I want to talk about this. A LOT. I GOT CALLED A SEXIST for saying that with all of the information that was out there, I did not believe that was only doing the lewd/nude stuff because "Her bf made her".

This is more proof of the fact. And I'm not vindicated at all. I'm annoyed.

More so given one VERY big thing. I 100% believe that she did all the lewd stuff etc, on her own, and used her shit ex as a scapegoat in order to get all the flack off of her back from people complaining about the hottub stream stuff and increasingly more lewd stuff on Twitch.

Hell I'm not even fully convinced that he was actually violent with her. I think that *It's possible* she was making a crap ton of money and things were not working out between them, and she said, "Hey, can you take a lump sum of money and let me use you as a scapegoat".

Now is that probable? No. Is it possible? Yes. What's more, if you listen to all of the facts of what was going on, the Ex went from "brilliant abusive controlling master mind", to "I'm not going to check and see if she's streaming at all despite having assess to ALL of her information supposedly and not checking to see if she's streaming and has me on speaker phone.

This coupled with the story that out of ALL of her friends not ONE of them said anything prior to the falling out publicly? So either she had the worlds worst friends or this guy was a brilliant controlling OCD genius then just LOST it one day. Out of no where. If you are really that OCD, that controlling, that insane, you don't MAKE a mistake like he made.

I still stand by the statement that she made the call on the NSFW content. And just used the Ex as an easy out.

(Correction. Supposedly they are back together again. Despite the ENTIRE SCANDEL. This information could be wrong but regardless. This is all so stupid.)

"This was so scandalous." Elain expressed, throwing her head back in exhaustion. Her face was flushed, tendrils of damp hair curling around her face.

"Seems like my lovely little mate is quite a scandalous person. After all you were the one who jumped on me and brought me to the ground." Elain’s head snapped up. Gritting her teeth she tried to glower at Lucien. He just flashed her a fully satisfied and pleased smile as he was kneeling between her legs and sitting on his heels while trying to close the flaps of his breeches. A few strands of red hair had escaped his ponytail, now falling into his face and sticking to his sweaty forehead.

Gods, he looked delicious, Elain thought and wondered where exactly her rationality had disappeared to. With the next movement she sat up, moving her hands over Lucien’s. "Let me do that. And you are right, but that is your bad influence." Tilting her head back she leaned up and placed a kiss to Lucien’s jaw. "You are bad, Luc.”

“Uh-oh. I actually believe that you are not the good girl that everyone believes you to be. I mean I know you like to be my good girl," —Lucien’s hand came up and pinched his mate’s waist— "but we just had scandelous intercourse in the middle of a forest where literally everyone —fae or animal— could have seen us.

Oh, gods. Elain let go her mate’s breeches, her wide fawn eyes meeting his. A loud laugh broke free from Lucien, his hands coming up to Elain’s jaw. Lucien’s features softened when he smiled at his suddenly slightly pale mate. “Flower, no one saw us. Don’t worry. There is really no one and nothing here apart from trees, grass and flowers. That is it.”

Elain pouted, glimpsing around her for a few seconds. Snickering softly, Lucien leaned forward anf placed a kiss to Elain’s pout. The female now had her hands braced on her hips. “Alright, but just so know…I am a good girl. I am not bad.”

“I can only partly agree with you on that.”

“That means?” the Archeron sister arched a brow, pursing her lip further and waiting for an answer.

“That means that you are a good person—kind, honest, genuine. But,” —Lucien paused, bringing his mate’s hand up to his face and kissing her knuckles— “you are not necessarily a good girl unless you want to be one for me.”

Now Elain snorted, bursting into a giggling fit while clutching her mate’s hand in hers. “You drive me crazy, Lord Lucien.” she gritted out, her lips forming a grin. The colour returned to her cheeks, now coating them in a rosy blush.

“I know. And I love it.” The tall male made them both lie down, folding Elain into his arms. “And I love you so damn much.” Sighing in delight, Elain snuggled her face into her mate’s still bare chest and took in his scent. The sunlight fell in golden strays on Lucien’s tanned skin, making him look like a god. Part of Elain was actually sure that he indeed was a god.

“You know what I miss, Lucien?”

“What is it? Maybe I can get it.” Lucien whispered, his hand stilling on Elain‘s upper back. A bird chirped somewhere close to them, a breeze tingling Elain’s bare feet when she closed her eyes for a brief moment.

“I am pretty sure you can get it…as you have it. Them actually. My panties.”

A loud, happy laugh bursted out of the Autumn Court male, his hand sliding down on Elain’s back before squeezing her butt through her dress.

“You really want them back?”

“Uh, yes?” Elain chuckled, leaning onto her elbow and pushing herself up so she could look into Lucien’s face. “Please?”

Grinning, Lucien moved a hand into his back pocket. “As if I could deny you any wish if you ask so nicely.” Before Elain could snatch her undergarments out of her mate‘s hold Lucien sat up and carefully let Elain slide to the ground. “But I am pretty sure you need help putting them on?“

Rolling her eyes, Elain laughed loudly. Then she nodded, trying to look very serious. “Of course. I obviously cannot put them on myself and desperately need my mate to help me.“

Lucien mirrored her grin, his hands coming to a rest on her now bare knees. Carefully he picked up one foot, then the other and slid the undergarments over them and then up the whole length of Elain‘s legs. When Elain lifted her butt and the undergarments where finally in place, Lucien quickly placed a kiss to her lower belly.

oooo this is one of the main things ab greek mythology!!! Zeus royally pisses everyone off but like, no one can actually kill him since he's not only immortal, but the whole ass king

as i mentioned, Aphrodite got her revenge by convincing Hera to help her curse Zeus to fall in love with his wife's animal counterpart: her peacock. that lasted only 500 years tho. but the goddess!pinks definitely did help make the curse a bit more unbearable for him.

now, they generally bring chaos always, whether they do things on their own or together (they prefer being together) as their powers are literally core traits of yandere love. many petty wars have been started due to the four's boredom and many ~scandelous~ affairs from Zeus's side pieces have happened due to their anger at Zeus!
