FUCK. IMPLODES
love love love snakes. combusts.. also this includes pictures because I fucking adore them so under the cut just in case? not sure if any mutual has a snake fear. regardless
*again, grain of salt don't take too seriously, ok I'm no snake expert. I just enjoy them and researching them. some may be wrong
most of these are because they look silly and I'm in love with them. not because I own them. i dont
5: elephant trunk snake (javan file snake/acrochordus javanicus)
CUTIES. They're non-venomous and aquatic and you can have them as pets, as far as I know, but they're very difficult to care for. And they can get BIG. 8 feet or more iirc in the wild. plus they get stressed easily and handling them is either tough or impossible because of it. they bite. theyre not hell its just tough but theyre a more advanced one to care for. I've never owned one because of that. BUT. I think they're fucking adorable
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They have this thing going on where their skin looks all loose and baggy I adore them.
4: Sri Lanka Cat Snake (boiga ceylonensis)
Little. aggressive, mildly venomous, but nocturnal and not really a problem, even if they venture into homes sometimes. they often arent lethal, as far as i know they cause swelling or . I mean I say little but they can be like 4 feet so they're easily the size of a toddler. But that's not important. I love them because they look fucking stupid. like a shoelace with extra large googly eyes
Tumblr media Tumblr media
incredible.
3: brahminy blind snake (indotyphlops braminus)
ohh my little guys.. little babies.. dearest darlings. non-venomous, blind, and tiny. they are a bit rare in a sense because they're subterranean, but you can dig and find them really. you can have them as pets. but some people think they're boring because they don't do much. on the contrary. they're just introverted. people mistake them for worms. amazing. also they can release a Funk if threatened, if im not mistaken. they just look like a tube
Tumblr media Tumblr media
dearest
2: slender quill-snouted snake (xenocalamus bicolor)
venomous? yes. stupid-looking? also yes
Tumblr media Tumblr media
when I learned of them I cried for 20 minutes in pure bliss. They're so.
1: arabian sand boa (jayakar's sand boa/eryx jayakari)
don't need to explain. sobbing gently. beauty on earth. a blessing. the greatest thing to ever happen to me. tiny and harmless and I am constantly rotating one in my head
Tumblr media Tumblr media
no honorable mentions the list would be 50 snakes long but!!!!

Acrochordus Javanicus (Javan) is an elephant trunk snake rope-maker! He’s a little guy but not the brightest. His prosthetic arms were made by Glaber, who is one of the few people he’s taken a liking to since Glaber never made fun of him for his “troubles”

the elephant trunk snake
Time to talk about one of my favorite snakes!
The elephant trunk snake (Acrochordus javanicus), also known as the Javan file snake, is a non-venomous aquatic snake that inhabits rivers, lagoons, and estuaries in Southeast Asia, west of Wallace’s Line. They’re apart of the family Acrochordidae, more commonly known as file snakes. Females grow bigger than males, with the maximum total length of an individual being 94 in. (almost 8 feet!!) Also, they’re about as thick as your upper arm.
Tumblr media
(LOOK at them. they look like if someone just stuck their arm into an old, wet, dirty, ill-fitting sock in order to make some horrible puppet.)
Let’s talk a bit about their skin.
It’s very loose and baggy (as you can see in the above image) and covered in tiny spinate scales. The skin enhances mobility in the water and also serves as an aid to catching prey. A. javanicus is an ambush predator that preys on various species of fish and amphibians (but mostly fish). They hunt by quickly catching their prey with their mouths and swallowing, or by swiftly wrapping their long bodies around their prey, their loose skin and spiny scales making escape impossible. They’ve been labeled as constrictors, but their body coils mainly serve to immobilize, rather than cause death.
Tumblr media
Since A. javanicus is entirely aquatic, their skin also serves as an extra respiratory organ when they are submerged long enough in well-oxygenated water (much like turtles). The skin between their scales possesses sensory tubercles that are thought to help the snake feel and keep track of movement under water.
Their skin is also highly sought after in the tanning and leather industries, used for ornamental purposes.
Now we’ll move on to their reproductive biology.
These snakes are ovoviviporous, which is a really outdated way of saying they have amniotic eggs, which then hatch inside the womb, and the snake gives birth to live young. The litters are usually pretty big, with 20-25 offspring being born at a time. For A. javanicus, information indicates that large females produce both larger litters and larger offspring. The offspring are terrestrial until their loose skin fully develops.
Time for behavior!
A. javanicus is entirely aquatic and appears to be nocturnal. They usually spend the daytime hiding in holes, burrows, or among the plant life along the shores and banks of their habitat.
Their nighttime activity seems related to foraging and hunting. Even though they’re adept swimmers, file snakes often move sluggishly along the muddy bottoms of the rivers and swamps they inhabit. Usually, the only time these snakes spend swimming is to occasionally get more air from the water’s surface. They’re reclusive and spend most of their time completely submerged.
Predation
We don’t really know much about what preys on file snakes. They could be captured by humans, eaten by various birds, crocodiles, or other snakes.
We’ll wrap it up with their conservation status.
None of the snakes in the family Acrochordidae are listed in the ICUN red book, but the two main areas of concern are commercial exploitation related to their skin and habitat destruction due to water pollution. Although there are laws in place prohibiting the hunting and sale of products made from file snakes in certain countries where they live, they aren’t really enforced throughout much of Asia. We simply don’t know that much about how hunting A. javanicus or other species of file snakes really affects their populations.
Thanks for reading this post!! I hope you learned something new and enjoyed it.

Acrochordus javanicus or the Elephant Trunk snake is a species of snake in the family Acrochordidae which represents a group of primitive non-venomous aquatic snakes. It has loose skin, lined with little, rough scales due to sharp triangular ridges on their surface. And it of course looks absolutely adorable.

Snakes are truly frightening. Each species is beautiful and amazing in their own way. Let's find out what snake really is.
Snakes are elongated, legless, carnivorous reptiles of the suborder Serpentes. Like all other squamates, snakes are ectothermic, amniote vertebrates covered in overlapping scales.
US scientists put the snake population at three million, with some areas containing 13,000 snakes per sq mile.
Out of more than 3000 species of snakes in the world, some 600 are venomous and over 200 are considered to be medically important.
We have here the list of 10 most rarest snake in the world:
1. Blunthead Tree Snake
Tumblr media
Imantodes cenchoa is a species of rear-fanged colubrid snake distributed in Mexico, Central America, and South America.
2. Rhinoceros Viper
Tumblr media
Bitis nasicornis is a venomous viper species found in the forests of West and Central Africa. A large viper, known for its striking coloration and prominent nasal "horns." No subspecies are currently recognized.
3. Dragon Snake
Tumblr media
Xenodermus is a genus of caenophidian snakes. It is a monotypic genus, containing only Xenodermus javanicus, also known as the dragonsnake, Javan tubercle snake, Javan mudsnake, or rough-backed litter snake. It is considered to be rare, though no conservation efforts are currently active.
4. Tiger Keelback
Tumblr media
Rhabdophis tigrinus, the tiger keelback, kkotbaem, or yamakagashi, is a venomous colubrid snake found in East and Southeast Asia. Many sources, though not ITIS, recognize one subspecies, Rhabdophis tigrinus formosanus of Taiwan.
5. Elephant Trunk Snake
Tumblr media
Acrochordus javanicus, commonly known as the elephant trunk snake or the Javan file snake, is a species of snake in the family Acrochordidae, a family which represents a group of primitive non-venomous aquatic snakes. The species is also kept as an exotic pet.
6. Tentacled Snake
Tumblr media
The tentacled snake or tentacle snake, is a rear-fanged aquatic snake native to South-East Asia. It is the only species of its genus, Erpeton, and the two tentacles on its snout are a unique feature among snakes. The method it uses to catch fish has recently been a subject of research.
7. Long-Nosed Whip
Tumblr media
Ahaetulla nasuta, also known as common vine snake and long-nosed whip snake, is a slender green tree snake found in India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Burma, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. It is not to be confused with Oxybelis fulgidus, "green vine snake" found in Central and South America.
8. Malagasy Leaf-Nosed Snake
Tumblr media
Langaha madagascariensis is a medium-sized highly cryptic arboreal species. It is endemic to Madagascar and found in deciduous dry forests and rain forests, often in vegetation 1.5 to 2 meters above the ground.
9. Spiny Bush Viper
Tumblr media
Atheris hispida is a venomous viper species endemic to Central Africa. It is known for its extremely keeled dorsal scales that give it a bristly appearance. No subspecies are currently recognized.
10. Antiguan Racer
Tumblr media
The Antiguan racer is a harmless rear-fanged grey-brown snake that was until recently found only on Great Bird Island off the coast of Antigua, in the eastern Caribbean. It is among the rarest snakes in the world.
So that was the most rarest snake in the world. Hope you guys enjoyed and learned from this amazing snakes. Stay awesome! :)
