Thinking about how Evelyn McKinnon and Jack Townsend both have unfortunate near-death encounters with tentacles/tendrils. Thinking about how things only started getting weird after mentions of "strange dreams" from their (about to be dead) best friends. Thinking about their distaste for one specific bird/animal that does nothing to harm them directly yet their existence causes them distress in general. Thinking about that one girl in their life that haunts the narrative of the story (at least for a bit in Evelyn's case).
