I’ve always had a strong love for home decorating. Being in a space that is comfortable and well arranged is something I strive for. As a home-body; finding pieces that will change or enhance the aroma and atmosphere are something I often crave. I’ve found that not only are the larger pieces in a room going to set the vibe; the smaller accent pieces that you find will take the room from looking nice to a true ambience.

One of the main things I use to bring some life to the room are candles. Candles will not only bring a refreshing smell to the area; it will also make the room feel more alive and bring that true homey sense. I may be the type of person to over-use my candles considering I keep one on mostly every counter top and open space. They’re a great filler as you will see with a candle sneaking into almost every other piece.

I’ve also stored my candles in this cabinet to keep them accessible.

Table trays are a great way to bring a boring coffee table or side table to life. Rather than chucking everything down onto the table and looking like a mess, you can throw it down on the tray table instead. By. doing this you’re creating a space left on the table that is still clean without having to hide away all of the remotes, pens, candles (hehe), etc. I often go for trays that have some decoration or pizazz that way the tray itself is capturing all of the attention rather than the things on it.

Using vases for things other than flowers is a good way to decorate. Of course, adding flowers will bring light to the room but, scattering vases around for other purposes can bring some edginess to the area. I have a vase that I keep letters and notes in from family members and friends. It looks simple and has a use that you wouldn’t normally think of. Filling your vase with candy, decorative rocks, and makeup brushes work as well.

I’ve seen baskets being used to store blankets on Pinterest so many times and I think it’s a brilliant idea. It keeps your blankets accessible and out of the way at the same time. There are so many ways to make this your own. I’ve gone for a pretty large basket to make up for the empty space next my couch.

I think my biggest trend within the accent pieces I choose are things that can have multiple functions. Everything is used for storage, organization, or bringing a sweet smell! Try to find the dual purpose in something to see if it will work well in your space and you’ll find that organization becomes much easier as well!
