QuinObi Week Part 2/5 - First / Next
Day 2: Knighthood/Raising Padawans Track: 'How Bad We Need Each Other' - Marc Scibilia (Spotify / YouTube)
"I'll grab the bags." "And I will grab the Padawans." "But they're already-" The sound of excited squealing from Aayla and Anakin echoed throughout the halls, Obi-Wan unable to stop his own laughter from joining in and Quinlan smiling broadly at seeing the joy return to his friends face.
Kind of just a fun moment for the group, one of their first missions all together, pretty early on in Anakin's journey to become a Jedi. I have a whole little fic thought up for this that I am so sad I didn't get the chance to write but it is the one I am most tempted to work on and publish later anyhow, because it is just an all around bit of fun for the little family XD
Enjoy!

'I'm in love with a Jedi' Support Group - One Shot
Happy May 4th! In honor of this day, have the full one-shot of this post that still makes the rounds here and people seem to find fun! All mistakes are mine, I just finished and it is 1:50 am for me! But I will clean it up and post it to Ao3 later today. Enjoy!
Now on AO3!
Read on if you like Anidala, Codywan, Dinluke, Hanleia, Quinfox, Kesett, Blyala, Kanera, alongside Grogu being cute and getting too many cookies!
Description: Din gets jumped on the way back home and wakes to find he has been welcomed into a 'secret club' made for those who fell for Jedi and now have to deal with Force Osik.
A Star Wars May 4th One-Shot
Din was no idiot. He had clocked the people following him since he had been halfway through his market run. But they were good at hiding themselves. He knew at least four people were keeping a close eye on him. But every time he had tried to look more closely, they had hidden themselves among the crowd. It was a Sunday at 10 am, which meant that the market was especially packed. Part of the reason he had decided to leave Grogu and Luke at home, big crowds left them more tired. It was fun, they definitely enjoyed their time out and about, but by the end of it, both would be tired the rest of the day. Considering they would have visitors later tonight, he and Luke had agreed that it was better that he took care of the shopping so they would all have the energy to host later tonight.
And now he was even more glad he had left them at home. He did not need Luke and Grogu exposed to someone looking for a fight. Din was 70% sure these people were looking for the Darksaber. Most of the time, challengers came alone, but more than once some random Mandalorian would come with their clan to try to intimidate him as he was challenged. It could also have been just someone who wanted Din's armor, but that they were good at evading him made him consider this was no mere group of criminals looking to jump him.
Still, Din kept on and finished his purchases. No need for them to know he knew they were there. He hoped as soon as he got done with the Challenge for the tittle of Mand'alor (which he still did not want, at all), he would be free to grab his stuff and get home in time to give Grogu his cookies before naptime. The kid would not be happy if he didn't give him the cookies before. Otherwise, after naptime it would be too close to lunch time for a snack. Grogu loved those blue cookies. He would rather avoid having his child give him a cold shoulder, Din would prefer going against another Krayt Dragon.
Saying goodbye to a regular vendor that delighted in spoiling Grogu with his favorite cookies, Din made his way seemingly towards home. He tried to shake his tail, he would fight if necessary, but he would rather just go home and deal with this idiots on another day. But, they were good and he couldn't shake them. Din had to admit that getting to let off some steam from his nerves about tonight's dinner would not be a bad thing. He took a couple of more turns, and quickly dived into a hidden alley. As he settled in the shadow of the entrance, expecting to jump whoever came lookign for him, he did not expect the blow to the back of his head.
It was never good to be knocked out, but at least they had placed him in a comfortable chair. He made sure not to move or change his deep breathing. His helmet was still on, and he could feel the Darksaber still on his hip. He could not see yet all that clearly, but the tranquilizer was fast working and already leaving his system. He could still not hear, but his vision was now good enough that he could see he was in front of a window. What was he doing in the only building in their town that was so high up to see over the whole market? As he pondered this, trying to remember what the building was (a Hotel he was sure), his hearing finally returned enough to hear the heavy steps coming towards him from the left. He tensed as he heard a familiar voice, which immediately overrode his instinct to pretend to still be knocked out beacause he knew that voice.
"You can stop pretending, I know you are awake." Commander Fox had now sat down next to him on a couch, in what as he gazed around, he could clearly tell was indeed a Hotel room. Fox was holding a beer on one hand and another he offered to Din, who on auto took it. As Fox opened his, the door opened and more surprised entered.
Leading the group, was Luke's mother, Padme Skywalker, holding some bags clearly also from the market. Han Solo came next, also carrying more bags. Both headed straight for the little kitchen to the left of the front door. After Han, Hera Syndulla and Commander Bly enter next, deep in conversation. They sit at the bar that separetes the kitchen from the sitting area as Padme directs Han to put away the food they had brought. The last to enter are Commander Cody and Boba Fett, both sporting matching scowls directed towards Din.
Din might still be under the influence of the drug, he can only stare open-mouthed while holding a beer on one hand as everyone else (who were suppossed to arrive for dinner in the evening) moves around like Din hadn't been knocked out and brought here.
As he opens his mouth, willing to ask what was going, Cody and Boba approach them and now he can see their piercing gazes are not for Din, but rather, for Fox.
"Fox, drugging him was not the plan!" Despite having only known the man for a few years, and already as an adult, Din still felt like a misbehaving ad whenever Cody used his "Commander Voice" (as Luke called it) around him.
"This is a secret meeting, we have done the same for every single one of the members. Besides, needed to test how well he could avoid us."
"He is a trained Mandalorian and the current Mand'alor! You already know how good he is!"
"What if it had been an imposter posing as him? Couldn't risk it."
"Fox, are you listening to yourself!"
As Cody continued to fight with his brother, Boba grabbed Din and gotten him to his feet, taking the beer off his hand and directing him to the bar. Hera had now moved to help in the kitchen with Han as Padme directed them in chopping various things. Bly had moved as Boba and Din approached to also join in the scolding of Fox, all three now almost screaming at each other.
"Did I hear that right? Din, are you okay honey? C'mon, grab a seat, and have some water." Padme motioned to the stools and Boba directed a still dumbstruck Din to seat. He also gave him a water bottle and padded his arm. Din finally managed to stop pretending to be a fish and removed his helmet. He tried to get his hair in some order before drinking the whole bottle. He turned to Boba finally asked what was going on.
"Welcome to the club, cousin. The plan wasn't to knock you out, that was all Fox. He insists on doing that to 'preserve our secrets' or some osik like that."
"Club?"
"It's more of a support group."
"Support for what?"
"The Force."
"What?"
"Boba, you are confusing him more!" That was Cody, who had left Bly to deal with Fox.
"Then you come and explain it then!"
"Boys, boys, keep it calm please! Here Din, I think you will need this." Hera had opened up some wine and had given him the first glass. As she continued to pass them about, Han and Padme, who were still chopping and now putting stuff to cook at the stove, took pity on the confused face Din was sporting to explain more.
"Back in the Clone Wars, I stumbled upon Cody, Fox and Bly lamenting on the fact that they were in secret relationships with Force Users and it was too much sometimes when none understood anything about the Force. Considering that my own marriage back then had been a secret, I offered to host some get togethers to just unwind and tell each other our woes when it came to the things we encountered with our significant others." Padme finally deemed everything ready let it cook on its own and grabbed the final wine glass Hera passed to her. Cody, Boba, Bly and Fox had come around now to listen to her explanation.
"And as more of us got together with our partners, we were 'kidnapped' and brought into the club, so don't take it personally." Han was hard at work as he added some herbs to the boiling pot at the stove, under Padme's watchful eye. Din was surprised to see how confident Han was in the kitchen and with his mother-in-law. Din had seen him be on edge when in the same room as Anakin Skywalker, so this was a true change of character. But Din understood, Padme had that way of being that made you be calm in her presence. Din knew that Luke share that trait with her, always so quick to make both Grogu and Din be at ease in his presence. Oh no.
"Luke and Grogu!" How could he be so stupid as to forget? As he stood up, Cody got next to him and forced him to settle him down back in the chair.
"Easy there, don't worry. Luke knows that you are safe, and we made sure that those groceries you were carrying got home to them. It's been taken care of." Din could breath easier at that, finally taking a small sip of the wine as he let the adrenaline go. Hera offered to refill it and he accepted, as Fox crossed his arms and shot his brother a scowl from the other end of the bar.
"You better not have given our position or meeting away, Cody!"
"Not very secretive to be in the only Hotel in town, Fox."
"Fox still thinks we should keep these meetings as secret as possible, as if by now, over 20 years after the fact, the whole Galaxy was not aware of our relationships." Bly offered, sitting next to Din and blocking a fuming Fox.
"Those security measures kept us safe, Bly! What do you think would have happened had Palpatine figured it out?"
"Death most certainly but he has been dead for decades Fox! If we want to hang out, we can do so like normal people!" Bly had turned now to address Fox and they continued squabbling.
"Now, its more about keeping it secret from our partners, or rather, Fox's." Hera offered, as she helped Padme with some sandwhiches and passed those around too.
"IF VOS FINDS OUT HE WILL CRASH OUR MEETINGS!" This seemed to be a common phrase from Fox, as Din saw Bly, who had turned his back to Fox to face Din, mimic his sentence in an exaggerated manner for everyone's amusement. Fox still noticed though and tackled Bly to the ground, but no one batted an eye to this or stopped them either.
Din remembered then that everyone here was supposed to be at his and Luke's home later in teh evening and couldn't fathom how they were keeping it all a secret. He was sure that Luke would have asked after his whereabouts, regardless of Cody being the one to explain Din was safe.
"What exactly does Luke think I am doing?"
"Told him I needed your Bounty Hunter expertise for something. Obi Wan knew I had some last minute business and that I would arrive earlier to get your input, he should still be on his way with Anakin and Leia, we still have that congratulary dinner to get to at your place tonight after all."
"And everyone else?" He turned to Han and Hera. Han answered first, finally getting away from the stove. He took the sandwich Padme offered and leaned against the fridge.
"I was already with Padme on some business, so I offered to bring her with me. As far as Leia knows, we are still on our way." He dove into the food as Hera explained next.
"Kanan thinks I'm wrapping up some business too, he was dropping off Jacen and we will meet at your place."
"I'm on my way from Tatooine and Cal should still be on route from Coruscant." Boba had already finsihed his own sandwich as Din was barely on his first bite. His cousin was grabbing onto Bly's plate when Padme wacked him with a spatula. She motioned for him to make his second sandwich himself as she turned to the two still on the floor.
"Fox, Bly! Stop playing and come get your sandwich or I'm giving them to Boba!"
That got them both off the floor quick. Padme smiled and nodded as she saw them take their plates, finally diving into their own. Din was still confused on one thing though, which he couldn't help but voice.
"Why bring me in now? Because we invited you today?"
"Oh no, we were just waiting for you and Luke to finally admit it to each other." Hera explained.
"We … didn't want to push you into something you might not actually want." Bly offered sheepishly.
"Even if it was very painfully obvious. OW!" Han had smacked in the stomach by Padme, who just smiled serenely towards Din as if nothing had happened.
"Even if you hadn't actually gotten with Luke we had a backup plan, you still have a child who is force sensitive, I know what that feels like, and so does Hera." Both mothers looked at each other and then to Din, who felt better about all of this.
"It always better when you know you have people in your corner who understand the realities of having Force users around." Cody's tone was full of wisdom, gaze momentarily lost in the past and in his own insecurities when he first started seeing Obi Wan.
"Yeah, the realities that they will pull the craziest osik and blame it all on the Force." Boba chirped in, and Cody had to agree. Both had more than once compared notes and guessed that like with orange tookas, red-headed Jedi were some of the most unexpected types of Jedi in terms of what they would try to pull and then blame it all on 'the will of the Force'.
"Seriously, Din, we aren't just saying it, if you ever need anything, you can come to any of us." Bly had finished his sandwich and proceeded to the kitchen to wash the dishes, patting Din's shoulder as he went.
"Or if you just need to vent, we got a group chat that is only for documenting the wild Force osik of every day life." Han had started it, and he was very proud of the secret shots of the craziest things he had caught Leia doing.
He didn't know what to say, but he felt he would make a fool of himself if he tried to speak pass the lump in his throat and preferred to keep quiet. He had been apprehensive in hosting the big dinner tonight, he knew everyone here, most were his family, and many others', family to Luke. As Hera and Fox got close to add him to the various chats, he considered that this was definitely a good surprise.
As Padme asked after Grogu, Din was encouraged to share as many crazy stories as he wanted, and he felt good once he got going and found all the others sharing in similar stories. Padme and Hera, as the other parents to Force Sensitive Children, gave him tips on how to Force proof the upper cabinets to stop Grogu from getting cookies whenever he wanted. So far, Din and Luke had hidden them, but Grogu was good at catching Luke in the act of getting the snacks and then going back for more. He also learned that Obi Wan was, like Luke, very likely to set things floating if left too long to his mediation. Cody had to force his husband to communicate when he would do longer meditation sessions on harder days, so that Cody could be prepared to time him and have food and water ready for the drop after. He also caught snippets of Fox talking to Boba on their own Jedi's particular brand of abilities, Boba sharing some recent incident that had left Cal very distraught on some memories on old Jedi texts he found on a mission. Fox had his own stories and offered to share some of the tea that helped calm down Quinlan when he had tough visions.
Upon hearing the word tea, Han had to intervene saying that he felt that the last tea Cody had recommended to calm Leia's excessive energy had done the opposite of calming her down. At that, Padme and Bly interjected on how to best burn that energy when meditation didn't really work on their own Jedi. From what Din understood, not all Jedi could calm down by simply mediating, like Luke, Obi Wan and Kanan preferred traditional meditation. Some, like Cal and Quinlan, would need to tire themselves out first before meditating; while Anakin, Leia and Aayla would be the kind who any sort of calm meditation would leave them more cranky than relaxed. Din could understand that, Grogu was more manageable if he was allowed to play first, otherwise he would not accept quiet, sitting meditation. Jacen, Hera mentioned, was much the same, and from what Padme shared, it was common for young Force users to be the same way. As children, neither Leia or Luke had wanted to stay still in meditation, Anakin and Obi Wan had to tire them out first so they could properly have a calm mind. On the other hand, Cody mentioned, Obi Wan had a very hard time with a young Anakin, who had never taken to meditating as a young boy. Obi Wan had instead opted for moving meditation, which left Anakin more calm and collected than forcing him to sit down in the traditional way. Hera felt that maybe she would bring it up to Kanan for their son, and Cody told her that Obi Wan would love nothing else than to talk on his tips on raising the "Choosen One".
Topics changed quickly and everyone was in more than one conversation with some other little group, and Din sat and took it all in. He noticed Padme by the stove and helped her in checking for salt as she was too short for the big pot. She was going to bring it for tonight's dinner and Din was grateful to have her do most of the talking. He loved that soon, Fox had taken out more beer and everyone was relaxed and happy, and Din felt content. He felt better and he didn't even know he had felt in any distress before. It was not how his day was planned but he already knew his life was anything but normal. He hadn't realized he might need someone to ask whenever something that Luke taught Grogu left him confused but also made him feel stupid for not knowing, scared to ask. But those around him understood him, and that left him strangely comforted. He felt happy, and couldn't wait to get home to Luke and Grogu, to share this precious moments with his new family.
-----
On the other side of the town, on the outskirts, Luke felt a small disturbance as he and Grogu meditated. The Force wasn't warning him of any danger, but rather seemed to be … amused. Then, his door was thrown open, and Quinlan Vos barged in with a bunch of bags, most of beverages if the clanking was anything to go by. Behind him, all of his guests for the evening also entered, the loudest being his father and sister. For a moment, Luke panicked in thinking that he had somehow gotten too lost in mediation again and that the time for the dinner was upon them already. But then he saw the sun shining through the window, still high up in the sky signaling it was still before midday.
His father quickly grabbed him into a tight hug and lifted him from the ground, as Leia picked up Grogu. Quinlan was already making a ruckus in the kitchen and thankfully he saw Aayla follow to babysit her old Master. As Luke was losing breath in his lungs, his Uncle Obi Wan finally rescued him, but Anakin still held onto him, using him as a head rest. Neither him or Leia had grown as tall as Anakin and he delighted in reminding them about it.
Freed of his father's embrace, Luke also spotted Cal and Kanan now sat at the living room, cooing at Grogu who had been given some cookies by Leia and had run to be picked up by Cal. Grogu loved visiting Cal and Boba and their pet rankor, which left Din a bundle of nerves but Luke knew it was good for Grogu to have the chance to interact with all manner of creatures. As he was about to try to get away from Anakin for a moment to close the door, his trusty Artoo wheeled in, bickering with Threepio as the golden robot carried some more bags. Almost tripping Threepio was a small, white and red blur that went straight for Grogu. Luke recognized it as Cal's robot BD-1. Then, an orange and louder robotic voice hailed the entrance of Chopper, who also gave commentary on whatever Artoo was fighting Threepio about, for which the golden protocol droid took great offense as Chopper, Artoo and Anakin laughed. Finally, Ahsoka and Rex came in and close the door, his father's Padawan finally able to pull Luke away from Anakin to give him their own hugs.
"Not that I am not happy to see everyone, but the dinner was later in the evening wasn't it? I didn't mess up the invite?"
"Not at all, my little Sunburst! We just decided to take advantage of the other early get-together to come keep you company!" Anakin grabbed him again from Rex's side, leaving the Commander to roll his eyes and go say hello to Grogu in the living room.
"Get together?" Luke was very confused.
"The "In Love with a Jedi Support Group." Cal offered as he bounced Grogu up and down, BD cooing from his shoulder as the toodler happily babbled away at them.
"The-what?"
"Luke, we are going to need more wine glasses! You only have 4!" Quinlan shouted from the kitchen, sticking his head out.
"Uhm, Din went out to the market, he should be back soon with some more-"
"Ehhhh, actually, he was kidnapped so he'll be kinda late." Anakin said, going to try to take Grogu from Cal. The little one instead floated himself to Kanan, leaving a pouting Anakin, who mimed himself crying and dropping to the floor. Luke would have found it hilarious that Grogu was always a little mean towards Anakin for some reason whenever they met but was still worried that his boyfriend was kidnapped and no one around was at all worried.
"Kidnapped!?"
"I have the items he bought Master Luke! Not to worry!" Now looking closely, Grogu could see the bags were the ones Din had taken to the market with him, inside all the items they had been missing for their dinner. Aayla heard him and called out from the kitchen herself.
"Bring them here to the kitchen, Threepio!" Ahsoka helped him with one of the bags, but as they passed by the fake-crying Anakin who was still sobbing loudly for Grogu, she tossed and hit him in the head with a packet of cookies. Anakin immediately changed his tune and was easily the toddler's favorite from then on out. Rex, Cal, Leia and Kanan took turns in giving Grogu a cookie.
"Quin, it's too early for wine. Leave that for the evening dinner." Obi Wan had gone to help out in the kitchen, his voice carrying easily. Luke still felt rooted to the spot by the breakfast nook that was cleared for morning meditation. He walked towards his father, who was now again grumpy that someone else had Grogu's attention, Leia sticking her tongue out at him over Grogu's head.
"Dad, what do you mean Din was kidnapped?"
"It's never too early for wine, I say you open the bottle Quin." Anakin, forever happy to do and say the opposite of his old Master, gave a thumbs up to Quinlan who wasted no time, despite Obi Wan's clear annoyed look. Ahsoka and Aayla simply shared a laugh, both drinking water but accepting glasses of wine nonetheless.
"Dad!"
"He is safe Luke, he is with the others." Anakin offered, not all bother by his son's rising panic.
"What others?" Luke felt like he was going crazy. Finally, Ahsoka took pity on him and came by to direct him to the open spot on the sofa, giving everyone else a glass of wine except Anakin.
"Ok, ok, let me explain kiddo. During the Clone Wars, Cody, Fox and Bly where stumped in their secret relationships to Jedi so they formed a little club." She said. Anakin swipped her glass and took a big gulp, then yelped when a pillow was thrown at his face and the glass taken out of his hands. Grogu found great joy in that and attempted to do the same, encouraged by Cal and Leia.
"My sweet Angel found out and joined in to impart her wisdom." Anakin was so distracted by the mention of his wife, he never saw the 4 pillows coming straight for his head.
"A blessing, I was tired of them venting when we went out in between campaigns." Rex had no need for the Force, he just straight hit Anakin in teh back of the head with his own pillow, then gestured to Ahsoka who was behind Anakin. She directed two more pillows and both hit Anakin when Rex ducked down.
"But you said he got kidnapped?" Luke was still weary, they had yet to be attacked by people looking for the Darksaber here in their peaceful home, but both him and Din knew the leftover Death Watch members were relentless. He wasn't as panicked, if Din was with Cody, Fox and Bly, he could breath easier at least. His uncles were the most capable men he knew.
"Oh, don't worry, that's Fox trying to keep it all 'secret' because I tried to catch him the first few times way back when." Quinlan had finally come around, Aayla with him. She was carrying Anakin's glass with her, which he thank her. "It was a game between us. He still thinks that I don't know and will crash their party if I found out. Jokes on him, when I got wind of it, I just went for Obes and Aayla and we got our own club starte to gossip."
"Once your mother joined them, I got Anakin and we have been recruiting every time they do." Obi Wan sat down beside him, giving Grogu a sippy cup with blue milk and more cookies, which the baby squealed at and then proceeded to use the older man's lap as his seat to enjoy his snacks. Luke could only hope Grogu would take his lunch without much fuzz later on.
"It was nice, if a little weird when I teased Bly and he tried to keep it a secret." Aayla shared, leading to others to chuckle as well. Bly was a terrible liar, and it was funny to picture him trying.
"Yeah, no one but Fox is keeping it 'secret', Boba told me the minute he was on route when Fox tried to get him. Gave me updates all the way until he was sure it was just his brother being weird." Cal was now holding onto BD, who was trying to draw Grogu's attention. Chopper however, was taking all the attention as he showed Grogu some of the coloring pages he stored.
"Paranoid, you mean. But yeah, Fox gets all new members kidnapped to 'test them', or so Hera has said." Kanan was watching his droid closely, making sure he wouldn't take out the flamethrower to boast about it to Artoo, who also had coloring books and crayons for Grogu, each droid very competative if left un supervised.
"So, why not just let them know you all know about it?" Luke could not understand on keeping it a secret. Quinlan quickly shook his hands, laughing a little.
"No no, that's the fun part! Fox pretends that I don't know and gets to relieve some adrenaline from the old Guard mission days."
"Din is fine Luke, Cody assured me he was given the quick neutralizer when he passed me the bags." Obi Wan was as serene as ever, even if Luke's stomach dropped. But he had to admit that his uncle was right. Din would be in no danger, if by his calculations, Fox, Cody, Bly, Boba, Hera, Han and his own mother were with him.
"But, why now?" He had a feeling on the reason it had just happened, considering Din had been someone known to most of them for years.
"Because you finally got off you ass and confessed, little brother." Leia smirked and Luke had to resist the urge to stick his tongue out when he noticed that Grogu was looking at him. He still glared towards his twin.
"Language!" Obi Wan, Kanan and Anakin all shouted.
"I'm older than you!" Luke couldn't resist firing back, though.
"By a minute!"
"As if this little tyke didn't hear worse from Boba." Cal commented to the room at large, leading most to either nod or roll their eyes. Boba Fett had always been very expressive with his language, regardless of who was present, despite his older siblings attempts to get him to stop swearing so much.
"Cal, do not encourage this." Kanan lamented, knowing it was impossible that his son wouldn't have heard such language from Chopper, who just laughed as if he knew what the Jedi was thinking.
"I'm just saying. He doesn't mind, right little frog terrorizer?" Grogu had hopped down from Obi Wan's lap, dodged Anakin's attempts to pick him up and aksed Cal instead, who gladly took him.
"Patu!"
"How about some lunch?"Ahsoka offered, standing up and stretching her back.
"Yes, Quin only brought alcohol." Aayla mentioned, as Quinlan looked offended.
"It was a priority! I know they are drinking too!"
"I was going to go and get some takeout." Luke said, remembering his plan to surprise Din with food when he arrived.
"No need, we'll get it. C'mon Rexy. From that Alderaanian place Luke?" Ahsoka was often at their place and she knew all the best spots by now for takeout.
"Yeah." Luke said, standing up to get the menu from the kitchen.
"Gotcha, you guys look over the menu and let us know. Should only take us 10 minutes to get there." Ahsoka grabbed Grogu from Cal's lap, ignoring the huff from the red head and his attempts to retrieve the toddler, who was happy to be so high up.
"Grogu you're coming with us! Droids! We are rolling out! C'mon!"
"Right behind you Miss Ahsoka!"
"I could go with you-" Luke started to offer, before he was pull back by Obi Wan and Anakin.
"No no, you stay and unwind, talk about your boyfriend with the others and we'll handle the food. As honorary members of both 'secret' clubs, we are here to get you what you need. We'll also pop in after to check on the others, make sure Fox hasn't taken it too hard with the bets." Rex mentioned, following after his partner in crime behind the line of droids now headed for the door. He was glad Anakin had repaired Threepio so he was much faster now and less clunky when walking.
"Honorary members?"
"Ahsoka and Rex hang out in both groups for the entertainment, or so they say." Cal said, arms still crossed as both his droid and his favorite toddler left him.
"We like being informed and getting all the gossip. And taking care of the little ones and droids too. It's too bad Jacen couldn't make it this time." Ahsoka remarked, bouncing Grogu, who wanted to ride on top of Artoo. She let him, but kept close.
"He has been pestering us about going to visit Mace for months now, we had no idea Din would be drafted so soon. My bet was till the end of the year. I'll make sure to bring him next time." Kanan remarked, and then blanched when he realized his slip. He took a big gulp of his wine as Luke turned to him in suspicion.
"Shh, Kanan!" Aayla said, but it was too late.
"What bet?"
"No bet, nothing at all!" Anakin tried to stall, avoiding his son's stare as he tried to gather the secrets of the Force on his wine.
"That reminds me! Luke, I lost so many credits! That rat of Ohnaka got the biggest cut! You really couldn't wait two more weeks?" Quinlan whined, as he got pillows to the face now.
"Or been quicker by like 3 days?" Cal mentioned.
"I think the way they finally got together is very cute!" Aayle had also betted, but she wasn't going to add more fuel to the fire, unlike Anaking who chirped next.
"You didn't have so many credits riding on this, Aayla!"
"Dad! Not you as well!" Luke couldn't believe his family would bet on him and Din. Then he thought about for ten seconds and found out he could, actually, believe it.
"I think it was cute too." Obi Wan said, the picture of poise, until Leia called him out.
"Uncle, you also got a big cut, don't think I didn't find out!"
"Obi Wan!" Luke should have expected it.
"Obes!" Quinlan was not expecting it seemed.
"You liar! You told me you hadn't betted!" Anakin laughed, as Ahsoka and Rex stood by the door, watching as Artoo got farther away with a toddler on top of him.
"Yeah, ooook! Don't forget to look at that menu! Bye!" With that, they closed the door and left the bickering behind them. They were glad that there was forest all around, it sounded like Luke was now going full Padme on Anakin and the others.
"Who do you think Luke will go for first?" Rex wondered, as they caught up with the droids. Threepio had taken to watching over Grogu to make sure he didn't fall.
"Not Luke, Anakin and Quin will definitely get to Obi Wan before Luke even thinks about it."
"Hmm yeah. So, should we get our own lunch and then ask for their order?"
"Oh you bet, afterwards we should see how the others are doing. Cody wanted to make sure they wouldn't miss the dinner." Ahsoka remarked, smiling down at Grogu, who was having so much fun riding Artoo.
"Padme and Hera are there, how crazy could it get with them? Also, you know Din is responsible enough he won't forget." Rex said, but Ahsoka just scoffed.
"You forget that time they got Han to join, Padme was the one who had the idea of going to the zoo and Hera encouraged it." That had been a meeting they had spend with the Non-Sensitives, and it had been a crazy night. They were glad that Padme how covered up, otherwise the papers would have had a field day. Ahsoka had known that Padme and Anakin fit so well precisely because they shared a unique brand of crazy, that their children had ten-fold.
"I forget Anakin's craziness is contagious. Alright, how about it, Grogu? Want to eat something and then get to see your uncle Boba?" Rex had gotten Grogu up and placed him on his shoulders, to the toddler's delight.
"Patu!"
An hour later, everyone's comms went off when the Holo news started reporting of a bunch of Death Watch who had attemped to kidnapped Grogu and had been taken down by two flamethrowing droids, a Jedi Knight, a Clone Commander, a golden protocol droid who fretted about and a tiny BD droid. Ahsoka and Rex had attemped to get Grogu out of the fight, but BD-1 had electrocuted someone and almost been trampled, so Grogu had jumped in, which prompted Artoo and Chopper to start blasting everyone around. Threepio had panicked and sent the massive message right before the news had gone live and that's how everyone got to meet up earlier than expected back at Din and Luke's.
No one mentioned either 'secret' meeting, but they did enjoy their time together very much. Especially when Grogu got fed more blue cookies than he ever had, given that everyone kept slipping them when no one else was looking. Any he didn't eat once full, BD gave to Chopper to store. Artoo didn't do it because he would be the obvious choice and he kept Threepio occupied as he was 'worried for the sugar intake of the infant'. Kanan still caught them but Grogu had already passed out by then, leaving the adults to their own devices. Din and Luke kept shooting each other looks, each thinking how lucky they were to have such a loving family to have their back.
Thank you for reading till the end! May the Force be with You!

I got bored so I did this thing with different peirings that I like or dislike.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh yeah, I don't really like CodyWan because I see them more as battle buddies and friends than lovers + I've disliked Anakin and Padme's relationship since I was a kid for some reason because I don't think they're right for each other

beauty in the snow
padawan! ahsoka tano x padawan! fem! reader
Tumblr media
“Hoth?” you shiver by just looking down on the Icy cold planet blow your ship.
“Yes, and we will be Meeting two others as well. So behave.” your master commented, clicking a few buttons on the ships control panel. “Your coat is in the back, we’re landing soon so put it on, and grab mine, too.” She said, smiling at you shorty as you did the same.
You made your way to the back of the ship, rummaging through the holding cabinets until you came across the one you were looking for.
It was brown, fur coating the inside of it as some spewed from the collar, and the hood as well. You slipped it on once you heard a familiar beeping; you entered the atmosphere.
You quickly grabbed your Masters coat as well and made it to the co-pilots seat, handing the jacket to her as you sat down.
“Ahsoka will be there. I take it you must be excited to see her?” She had a teasing tint to her words, making you force down a shy smile.
“what? well, of course, Master. we’re friends.” You responded, clicking unnecessary buttons in distraction.
“Yes.. friends..” Aayla uttered, the teasing in her voice not dissipated.
“Master! what are you hinting?” you shrieked, voice raising like a small animal as an undeniable flush roamed your cheeks.
“Oh, young one, you kn—”
“we’re here, actually, so if you’ll excuse me.” You announced, instantly regretting your decision to ask her meaning, quickly standing from your seat and rushing the the back of the ship— ignoring your Masters knowing glance.
The ramp lowered before you, and you pulled up your hood, walking down.
“My, it’s cold.” Your Masters voice rang in your ear, and you nodded. “I’ve never liked Hoth.”
You glanced up to her, and her eyes flickered down to yours before she began to move.
“Me either. but it’s time to begin our walk to find our comrades.”
—♡—
Ahsoka blew warm air into the palms of her hands, vigorously rubbing them together in a desperate attempt at warmth.
“Are they almost here Master? I’m freezing!”
Anakin sigh, his breath meeting the cold air of the snowy planet; creating a light froth.
“They should be. we are about to freeze if they aren’t— but patience is key.” He responded, rubbing his crossed hands over his biceps for frictions of warmth.
Ahsoka sarcastically muttered something mockingly under her breath, missing how her master send her a snarky glance.
“Oh, look, snips. They made it.”
Ahsoka’s eyes instantly snapped up, landing on your laughing face.
you were beautiful, to say the least, as always. The dimples on your cheeks and the crease of your skin forming the most beautiful smile she’s ever seen. the rapid beating of her heart was nothing new.
Your eyes traveled from looking to your master, to making their way to her. Your smile grew.
“Ahsoka!” you shouted, waving your hand rapidly— sending a nod to your master before jogging to her.
once you approached them both, you looked from your friend to her master.
“Master Skywalker,” you bow your head deeply, a way of showing immense respect from your culture.
“It’s wonderful to see you both again,” you exclaim, grinning ear to ear.
“You as well, Y/n.” Anakin said, sending a curt nod in your direction accompanied with a smile before passing you and approaching your Master.
“It’s always great seeing you, Ahsoka.” You reach for a hug, and she returns it. Although the icy air of Hoth encases you both, the warmth of your embrace was as comfortable as possible.
“Alright, you two,” your Masters approached, both of their arms crossed. “We’re going to set up camp over there. come help.” Your master instructed, making both you and Ahsoka pull away from the hug. You nodded, sending her a sly smile before walking off, Ahsoka following.
Anakin and Aayla sent each other knowing glances.
—♡—
Your eyes peel open when you feel a rapid patting on your shoulder.
You look over, only to see a sly looking Ahsoka. You yawn, eyes closing. “Ahsoka? what’s going on?”
“Let’s sneak out,” she whispered, so close you could feel her breath on you.
“huh?”
Ahsoka grabbed your hand, making you stand up when she stood up herself, unzipping the tent door, you both sneaked out.
You let a low chuckle escape you, glancing around.
“where are you taking me?”
“somewhere fun.” she replies, a small smile present on her burgundy lips.
You raise a brow, lips twitching upwards as well.
The path you follow to where she is taking you is rather clear, snow and trees the only thing in your sight.
The only sound that filled your ears was both of your breathing, the heavy shuffles of your warm coats, and the sounds your boots made while stepping in the snow. You became more and more curious of to where you were going with every passing step.
“here we are— close your eyes!” Ahsoka exclaimed, before you could shut your eyes her gloved hand pressed firmly against your eyes, and she grabbed your hand in her free one and began leading you blindly.
“Ahsoka, I’m nervous.. I really don’t want to get in trouble again, I got enough punishment last time we left camp…” you recalled, frowning at the recollection.
“Don’t worry, Y/n. this isn’t bad.” she comforted, abruptly coming to a stop.
“Okay, ready?”
“Yes..”
Her hand removed itself from obstructing your view, and a gasp left your lips upon seeing what’s before you.
A large lake, iced over. The moon reflecting beautifully off it, the snowy trees creating beautiful scenery.
“oh wow! it’s beautiful!” you voiced, eyes tracing all the details.
“I knew you’d love it. Come on, i’ll show you the fun part.” She dragged you along, and you tried to ignore the fact her hand was still in yours— and what it made you feel.
You two treaded through the snow, making it to the frozen lake. Ahsoka stepped on it, her grasp on your hand tightening as she does so. She balanced easily, and urged you forward.
“Come on, Y/n. its fun. trust me.”
You swallowed, snapping your eyes shut for a moment, before opening them bravely and stepping in front of her.
She grabbed your other hand with hers. Now holding both your hands, she guided you across the lake as your snow shoes let you both slide a little.
It was a calming moment. Looking into her eyes, her hands in yours as you walked on the ice in sync.
that was until you heard a squeak.
“Did you hear that?” you whisper, eyes snapping away from hers as you looked past her.
“hear what?” she softly questioned, eye brows raised.
“a squeak, it came from—”
squeak.
“there it is again! did you hear it?” You begin to remove your hands from hers, but she grips them tighter.
“Yes.. it sounds like it is coming from over here.” Ahsoka comments, leading you to the snowy path away from the frozen lake.
As you two approached, the squeaks became more common.
And there it was. A small bunny.
You gasped, taking your hands away from Ahsokas and inspecting it.
“oh my.. ahsoka, it has something in its foot..” you mumble, bending down, ahsoka right after you. “what are we going to do?”
she whispers, her warm breath tickling down your neck from the close proximity.
“I know some things for small wounds.. you do, too. we can help it.” you confirmed, brows knitting together in determination. something ahsoka always loved about you.
you gently scooped the bunny up in your gloved palms, quickly placing it on Ahsoka’s lap unexpectedly.
her eyes shot open, about to protest when you shushed her softly. “look, It’s snuggling up against you.”
Ahsoka looked down to it, a nervous smile on her lips upon the sight. you shifted closer, too. Your thigh was pressed against hers, your arms brushing against each other as she could feel your warmth radiating.
You could feel her warmth as well. her nervous breaths, watching her blink rapidly, trying to keep her eyes from you.
before either of you knew it, you were almost completely and snuggled up together, watching the shallow breaths of the rabbit in Ahsoka’s lap as it fell into a deep slumber.
“it fell asleep..” you hummed, smiling spreading across your features.
Ahsoka hasn’t quite been this close to you, she could see every small mark on your face, every crease in your smile, she could see how long your eye lashes truly were— and don’t even get her started on your dimples. Big and sweet, they piece your face together like a beautiful puzzle that was made for her.
when ahsoka didn’t reply to your comment, not that you were expecting one, you looked up— and your eyes locked with hers.
They were filled with so many emotions in one, her icy blues held more words than any language could speak— and you knew many languages.
You stare back at her, your heart beats hard against your chest, trying to break free. trying to escape to ahsoka’s heart.
it was only when your eyes flashed to ahsoka’s lips did you rip them away from her completely.
“um.. I saw Lux Bonteri yesterday during a meeting. He spoke of you.” you blurted out, missing how Ahsoka’s eyes didn’t leave you, but a frown formed on her face.
“are you both.. you know, together?” Ahsoka was surprised you’d ask such a thing. She does recall you teasing her for ‘having a crush on him’.. but it wasn’t him she liked. it was you. it is you.
“what? no! of course not, we’re only friends.” She informed, a tint of displeasure in her voice at the thought of being anything more with the boy.
Now it was your turn to be surprised. You swear Ahsoka had some type of a romantic relationship with him..
“I like someone else.”
she suddenly spoke up, making you turn your head to look at her. She was staring right back at you once again, her eyes encasing you like a bird in a cage.
“.. who?”
“You.”
as if time had completely frozen, your eyes shot wide in shock, surprise and relief. She liked you.
Your mouth fell open but no words came out, the frown that was once upon the Togruta’s face was now replaced with a bashful look, a shy smile.
It only took you a moment of realization of her words before you spit the same of your own.
“I like you, too.”
Once again, the tables turned and ahsoka was surprised, her heart trying to escape its cage inside her.
“You do?”
“I do. I really, really do.”
The silly smile that widened on ahsoka’s face was contagious, and it grew on your lips as well.
You grabbed her hand, smiling, as you slyly reached over to place a small peck on her cheek— watching as her face became red.
You laughed, but stopped suddenly when a pair of soft lips met yours.
The small, shy kiss on your lips from Ahsoka was unlike anything you’ve ever experienced. You kissed back, but it lasted less than ten seconds. You both couldn’t meet one another’s gaze from the realization of what you’d done, so you rested your head on her shoulder, hand reaching to softly stroke the bunny in her lap.
she placed her head on yours, and it was as if you three were one.
Ahsoka couldn’t be happier than she is now, and neither could you.

And may I present you for fandom friday an absolute adorable fix it story from @brownstalebread that absolutely made me smile while reading?!
I think it absolutely deserve some attention.
🥰
I really thought I had seen it all when it came to fic titles/concepts, but I can admit "In Which Maul Takes a Buzzfeed Quiz Rigged by the Force and It Saves the Galaxy" was not on my bingo card. What a premise hahahaha. And the fact that it's a fix-it fic that contains Blyla??? Be still my beating heart. The tag "canon doesn't exist here", just has me going "good... good." Also, "Obi-Wan/Sleep" has me giggling like a fiend. I will absolutely be checking this fic out in my free time. Thanks so much for the rec, Caro!
Participate in Fandom Friday to show your favorite creators from this week some love! :)

(gif not mine, but obi-wan is.)

In those years, you became the top priority of the council members. Thanks to the great amount of force you were holding, you were kept hidden from public. Your training went like this: after securing that no one uses the training room in the middle of the night, one member of the council would train you. You don't get to eat with your créchemates, a droid would deliver it to your room. If you needed some information from the archives, the same droid who would deliver your food, would get if for you.
It was hard at first, to adapt the new routine. But in a week, you had grown, and it became your habit. It was hard because no one in the temple, excluding the members of the council and one particular jedi knight, knew where your room was. The council treated you like you were a plague, that would infect everyone so you needed to be kept quarantined.
The Jedi Knight whom the council allowed you to be with, was none other than Quinlan Vos. He was surprised at first but felt relieved when he knew he wouldn't get a goodbye message from you. A lot of things changed to Quinlan, as well. He now had his own padawan, Aayla Secura. He had told you the whole story about him meeting her. Upon realizing that she had an affinity to the Force, Quinlan rescued her from her home planet of Ryloth and took her to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. However, you could not meet her.
Anakin. You missed him dearly. Every night, you wanted to reach up to him using the force but stopped yourself from doing so. Instead of going to him and breaking the law, you would rather play with necklace he had given to you.
Obi-Wan. You missed him dearly, too. In the first two months, not a minute goes by that he wouldn't be inside your mind. You wondered how he was doing while training Anakin. The bond was still there but neither of you opened up to each other, fearing the wrath of the council if they ever find out. Just like what you would do when you missed Anakin, you would cuddle up the one eyed bluish slush Obi-Wan had given to you and cry in your sleep.
But now, ten years had passed. A lot of things had changed to you. You adapted the corustanti accent, and lifestyle of a respectable jedi. You would train yourself in the middle of the night then go back resting for an hour before going with whomever Jedi Master from the council would want you by their side.
Tumblr media
Traffic clogged the Coruscant sky, flowing slowly about the meandering smoggy haze. The sun was up, giving the sprawling city an amber glow, but many lights were still on, shining behind the windows of the great skyscrapers.
The massive towers of the Republic Executive Building loomed above it all, seeming as if they would reach the very heavens. And that seemed fitting indeed, for inside, even at this early hour, the events and participants took on godlike stature to the trillions of common folk of the Republic.
Supreme Chancellor Palpatine sat behind his desk in his spacious and tasteful office, staring across at his four Jedi Master, with you as their Padawan, visitors.
You stood straight in the corner of the room. Head high and arms behind your back. Dressed in a Padawan style learner tunic but the big, brown cloak was covering it all. You had your hood, as what the council would always order you.
“I don't know how much longer I can hold off the vote, my friends,” said Chancellor Palpatine. “More and more star systems are joining the separatists.”
“If they do break away,” your Master, Mace Windu, tried but the politician intervened.
“I will not let this Republic, that has stood for a thousand years, be split in two.” Chancellor Palpatine said sternly. “My negotiations will not fail.”
“If they do, you must realize there are not enough Jedi to protect the Republic,” Mace said. “We're the keepers of the peace, not soldiers.”
“Master Yoda,” called the Chancellor as your Master, Yoda, looked at him. “Do you think it will really come to war?”
Master Yoda closed his eyes and hummed. “Mmm. The dark side clouds everything,” he opened his eyes. “Impossible to see the future is.”
A hologram of the Chancellor's minion appeared on his desk. “The Loyalist Committee has arrived, Your Honor.”
“Good. Send them in,” ordered the Chancellor. He then rose from his seat, Master Yoda did as well and the doors opened in a soft hiss.
Senator Padme Amidala walked in with her guards and some allies: Captain Typho, Jar Jar Binks, Senator Bail Organa, Dorme, Mas Amedda, Horox Ryyder, and Orn Free Taa. Master Ki-Adi-Mundi, and Master Plo Koon rose from their seats but Master Windu stayed.
You can see no lies that the Senator, former Queen of Naboo, had grown a quiet beautiful woman. Her head high and a determined, strong look was shown on her beautiful face.
“Senator Amidala, your tragedy on the landing platform . . . terrible,” Master Yoda shook his head. “Seeing you alive, brings warm feelings to my heart.”
Padme's determined look did not falter. “Do you have any idea was behind this attack?” She asked, determinedly.
Master Windu rose from his seat, approaching the Senator. “Our intelligence points to disgruntled spice miners, on the moons of Naboo,” he said as he stood beside her.
“I think that Count Dooku was behind it,” the former Queen of Naboo stated. There was a stir of surprise in the room, even you, had quirked an eyebrow in surprise.
“He is a political idealist, not a murderer,” said Master Ki-Adi-Mundi calmly.
“You know, M'Lady,” Master Windu said in his resonant and calm voice, “Count Dooku was once a Jedi. He wouldn't assassinate anyone. It's not in his character.”
“But for certain, Senator, in grave danger you are.” Master Yoda said, threateningly.
After gazing out of the window for several moments Palpatine turned around. “Master Jedi, may I suggest that the Senator be placed under the protection of your graces?”
Bail Organa walked forward. “Do you think that is a wise decision during these stressful times?”
Senator Amidala intervened. “Chancellor, if I may comment, I do not believe the--”
“Situation is that serious?” Palpatine finished for her. “No, but I do, Senator. I realize all too well that additional security might be disruptive for you,” he began, and he paused, and then a look came over him as if he had just struck upon a logical and acceptable compromise. “But perhaps someone you are familiar with, an old friend.” Smiling cleverly, Palpatine looked to Mace Windu and Yoda. “Master Kenobi?” he finished with a nod, and his smile only widened when Mace Windu nodded.
You flinched when you heard the name. It had been years since you last heard that . . . sacred name.
“That's possible,” the Master Jedi confirmed. “He has just returned from a border dispute on Ansion.”
“You must remember him, M'Lady,” Palpatine said, grinning as if it was a done deal. “He watched over you during the blockade conflict.”
“This is not necessary, Chancellor,” Padme said determinedly, but Palpatine didn't relinquish his grin in the least, showing clearly that he knew well how to defeat the independent Senator's argument.
“Do it for me, M'Lady. Please. I will rest easier. We had a big scare today. The thought of losing you is unbearable,” said the Chancellor.
Several times, Amidala started to respond, but how could she possibly say anything to deny the Supreme Chancellor's expressed concern? She gave a great defeated sigh, and the Jedi rose and turned to leave.
“I will have Obi-Wan report to you immediately, M'Lady,” Master Windu informed her, he then started walking out.
You gave them a respectable bow, not even daring to look into Padme's eyes as you were afraid that she would recognize you. But then, as you walked passed the Chancellor, his voice stopped you and the rest of the Jedi Masters inside the office.
“What about your Padawan, Master Jedi?” Palpatine asked, grinning.
Your eyes widened as you whipped around to see the Chancellor's proud smile as he looked at you. Padme, who was also surprised, looked at you with a narrowed eyes. Her tight lip then broke out and a soft smile took over.
“What about our Padawan?” Master Windu asked, narrowing his dark eyes at the politician.
“I think she would be a great help protecting the Senator,” said Chancellor Palpatine.
“Padawan Y/N has not yet given an assignment to her own, therefore, it will be her first. I think it would be the Council's decision--” Master Ki-Adi-Mundi was interrupted by the young Senator.
“I've known Y/N, and I would be glad to have her by my side. Guarding me.” Padme said, sternly, chin high up.
“That does not mean that we are going to allow our own Padawan to have her first assignment without someone from the council by her side, M'Lady.” Master Windu said seriously.
“I believe it now depends on your Padawan, Jedi Master, to make her own decisions. She is in the right age, is she not?” Chancellor Palpatine asked, his grin did not relinquish. He then turned to look at you. “Young one, are you capable to protect yourself and the Senator?”
“Uh,” you awkwardly looked at your Masters for help. Master Yoda's sleepy eyes looked at you, almost begging to not answer. Master Windu and Ki-Adi-Mundi did not spare you a glance as they were both looking at the Chancellor. You could see how it was uncomfortable for Master Plo Koon the situation but you knew he would agree to your decision if it means that it would make you over the moon. Master Kit Fisto, on the other hand, gave you his classic wink. You looked back at the Chancellor and straightened yourself. “I am capable indeed, Your Excellency.”
“Do you take an oath to protect her at all costs, even if it means losing your life as well?” Master Windu challenged you, crossing his arms over his chest.
“I assure you, Master, that nothing is more important than her life,” you said.
“How come, so certain on this mission, you are, young one, hmm?” asked Master Yoda as he pointed his cane at you, his sleepy eyes wide open.
“I have been training under your influence for ages now, Master,” you replied. “Though I am not trying to sound like an arrogant person. And this mission, will be my first step on becoming a great Jedi.”
Yoda gave a defeated sigh. “Ready, you are,” he mumbled.
“It is settled then,” bellowed the Chancellor. “Padawan Y/N will accompany the Senator alongside with Master Kenobi.”
Oh. You definitely have a bad feeling about this.

As the lights of Coruscant dimmed, gradually replaced by the natural lights of the few twinkling stars that could get through the nearly continual glare, the great and towering city took on a vastly different appearance. As Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker stood in the turbolift of the Senate apartment complex, the Jedi Master was indeed pondering such profound universal truths as the subtle change of day to night. Beside him, though, his young Padawan certainly was not. Anakin was about to see Padme again, the woman who had captured his heart and soul when he was but ten years old and had never let it go.
“You seem a little on edge, Anakin,” Obi-Wan noted as the lift continued its climb.
“Not at all,” came the unconvincing reply from his Padawan.
“I haven't seen you this nervous since we fell into that nest of gundarks.” Obi-Wan remarked.
Anakin scoffed. “You fell into that nightmare, Master, and I rescued you. Remember?”
Obi-Wan's little distraction seemed to have the desired effect, and the pair shared a much-needed laugh. Coming out of it, though, Anakin remained obviously on edge.
“You're sweating.” Obi-Wan noted. “Take a deep breath. Relax.”
“I haven't seen her in ten years, Master.”
As the pair stepped into the corridor, a door across the way slid open and a well-dressed Gungan, wearing fine red and black robes, stepped into the corridor opposite them. The three regarded each other for just a moment, and then the Gungan diplomat, losing all sense of reserve and propriety, began hopping around like a child.
“Obi! Obi! Obi!” Jar Jar Binks cried, tongue and ears flapping. “Mesa so smilen to see'en yousa! Wahoooo!”
Obi-Wan smiled politely, though his glance at Anakin did show that he was a bit embarrassed, and he patted his hands gently in the air, trying to calm the excitable fellow. “It's good to see you, too, Jar Jar.”
Obi-Wan's polite smile faltered slowly. He was feeling a little bit on edge, just like Anakin, but not from seeing the Queen but rather . . . something between the force. It was shifting. He had never felt this feeling since . . . ten years ago.
The apartment inside was tastefully decorated, with cushiony chairs and a divan set in a circular pattern in the center, and a few, well-placed artworks set about the walls.
“Senator Padme,” called Jar Jar. Obi-Wan and Anakin following behind the Gungan. “Mesa palos here! Lookie, lookie, Senator! Desa Jedi arriven!”
Anakin's eyes roamed the Senator's small and shapely frame in her black and deep purple robes, taking in every detail. He saw her thick brown hair, drawn up high and far at the back of her head in a basketlike accessory, and wanted to lose himself in it. He saw her eyes and wanted to stare into them for eternity.
Obi-Wan bowed. “It's a pleasure to see you again, M'Lady,”
Padme took Obi-Wan's hand in her own. “It has been far too long, Master Kenobi. I'm so glad our paths have crossed again. But I must warn you that I think your presence here is unnecessary.”
“I am sure that the members of the Jedi Council have their reasons.” Obi-Wan replied.
“Oh, no,” Padme shook her head. “I already have enough guards to protect me but, the Chancellor insisted you and the Council's Padawan.” She wore a knowing smile.
“The Council's Padawan?” Obi-Wan asked, quirking an eyebrow. Feeling something in the force, shifting, his breath hitched when he felt a familiar presence. The one he had never thought he was going to see nor feel again. You.
The lift door slid open. A hooded figure merged from the lift, boots echoing to the now silent apartment of the Senator.
“M'Lady, I think I had packed way too many things--” You stopped. Your breath hitched, too. Obi-Wan Kenobi stood before you.
Obi-Wan's auburn-colored hair was longer now, hanging loosely about his shoulders, and a beard, somewhat unkempt, adorned his still-young-looking face. His light brown Jedi traveling clothes, loose fitting and comfortable, seemed to settle on him well. For Obi-Wan had become comfortable, had grown into the skin of Jedi Knight. No longer was he the intense and impulsive Jedi Padawan learner under the training of Qui-Gon Jinn.
As the two of you stared at each other. You then blinked back in reality and cleared your throat, bowing afterwards.
“Hello, Master Kenobi.”
Obi-Wan could feel his heart sank after hearing what you said. He smiled albeit the hurt flashing in bis eyes and turned to the young Senator, masking the hurt in his face to a serious yet calmed one look.
You swallowed your pride as you took a step, and stood beside the Senator, averting your eyes from the Jedi Knight and . . . his companion? Is that Ani?
Padme wore a resigned, accepting expression at that answer, but a look of curiosity replaced it as she glanced again behind the Jedi Knight, to the young Padawan standing patiently. She took a step to the side, so that she was directly in front of Anakin. “Ani?” she asked, her expression purely incredulous. Her smile and the flash in her eyes showed that she needed no answer. “My goodness, you've grown.”
That did little to bolster Anakin's confidence, though, so lost was he in the beauty of Padme. Her smile widened, a clear sign that she was glad to see him, but he missed it, or the implications of it, at least. “So have you,” he answered awkwardly, as if he had to force each word from his mouth. “Grown more beautiful, I mean.” He cleared his throat and stood taller. “For a Senator, I mean.”
You cringed. It is definitely Anakin Skywalker.
Anakin Skywalker looked as if his tall, thin frame simply could not contain his overabundance of energy. He was dressed similarly to Obi-Wan, but his clothing seemed tighter, crisper, and his muscles under it always seemed taut with readiness. His sandy-blond hair was cropped short now, except for the thin braid indicative of his status as a Jedi Padawan.
From the corner of your eye, you noted Obi-Wan's disapproving scowl then you looked back at Padme, who laughed any tension away and shook her head. “Oh, Ani, you'll always be that little boy I knew on Tatooine,” she said. Anakin looked down. The rest of you sat on the couch. You sat beside Padme while the other two Jedi sat on the opposite of the couch. You were facing Obi-Wan while Padme's facing Anakin.
“Our presence will be invisible, M'Lady,” Obi-Wan assured Padme.
“I'm very grateful that you're here, Master Kenobi,” Captain Typho put in. “The situation is more dangerous than the Senator will admit.”
“I don't need any more security,” Padme said, addressing Typho initially, but turning to regard Obi-Wan as she continued. “I need answers. I want to know who is trying to kill me. I believe that there might lie an issue of the utmost importance to the Senate. There is something more here...” She stopped as a frown crossed Obi-Wan Kenobi's face.
“We're here to protect you, Senator, not to start an investigation,” he said in calm and deliberate tones.
“We will find out who's trying to kill you, Padme,” Anakin insisted. “I promise you.”
As soon as he finished, Anakin recognized his error, one that clearly showed on the scowl that Obi-Wan flashed his way.
“We are not going to exceed our mandate, my young Padawan learner.” Obi- Wan said sharply, and sternly.
“I meant, in the interest of protecting her, Master, of course.” His justification sounded inane even to Anakin.
“We are not going through this exercise again, Anakin,” Obi-Wan continued. “You will pay attention to my lead.”
Anakin could hardly believe that Obi-Wan was continuing to do this in front of Padme. "Why?" he asked, turning the question and the debate, trying desperately to regain some footing and credibility.
“What?” Obi-Wan exclaimed, as taken aback as Anakin had ever seen him.
“Why else do you think we were assigned to her, if not to find the killer?” he asked, trying to bring a measure of calm back to the situation. “Protection is a job for local security, not for Jedi. It's overkill, Master, and so an investigation is implied in our mandate.”
“We will do as the Council has instructed,” Obi-Wan countered. “And you will learn your place, young one.”
“Master Kenobi's right,” you said for the first time. Obi-Wan, Anakin and Padme looked at you. “We are tasked to protect her at all costs. Not an investigation. Perhaps you should be more careful to your next words, Padawan Skywalker.”
Anakin, again, looked down. His embarrassment only heightened by the looks he knew that both Obi-Wan and you were throwing his way.
Padme broke the tension away. “Perhaps with merely your presence about me, the mysteries surrounding this threat will be revealed," offered Padme, ever the diplomat. She smiled alternately at Anakin, at Obi-Wan, and at you, “Now, if you will excuse me, I will retire.” She rose from the couch while you, and the other two Jedi did as well.
You all bowed as Padme and Dorm exited the room, and you could feel the burning gaze of Obi-Wan. However, you ignored it as you kept your gaze at Captain Typho.
“Well, I know that I'm glad to have you here,” Captain Typho offered, moving closer to Obi-Wan. “I don't know what's going on here, but the Senator can't have too much security right now. Your friends on the Jedi Council seem to think that miners have something to do with this, but I can't really agree with that.”
“The council have their own reasons, Captain,” you pressed. “But for certain, it's for everyone's own good.”
“And we are not here to guess, but merely to protect.” Obi-Wan said, in tones that showed he was finished with this particular line of discussion.
Captain Typho bowed, hearing you both clearly. “I'll have an officer on every floor, and I'll be at the command center downstairs.” Then, he left.
“-- I've thought about her everyday since we parted, and she's forgotten me completely.” You heard Anakin say and you turned to see him, completely ignoring Obi-Wan.
“Shesa happy,” the Gungan assured him. “Happier than mesa see'en her in a longo time. These are bad times, Annie. Bombad times!” Anakin shook his head and started to repeat his distress, but he noted you coming over his way.
“A lot of people died to protect her, Anakin,” you said. “You are focusing on tge negative side, Ani. Don't. I can assure you that she's very pleased to see y-- I mean, us.”
Anakin smiled widely. “What happened to your accent?” You noted that he had completely ignored what you said but you smiled nonetheless.
“What happened to yours?” You asked back and laughed, opening your arms as he gladly took it and hugged you.
“I've missed you, Y/N,” his voice was muffled by your hair.
“And I, you, Ani.” You leaned your head on his chest. You both pulled away with a smile across each of your faces.
“I love your tunic,” he commented, standing straight as he towered over you. “It's lighter and softer than mine.” Anakin saw his Master over your shoulder, peeking then looking out the big glass window as though he didn't want anyone finding out that he was looking at you. Smirking, he looked at his Master. “I will check the security myself, Master. Come on, Jar Jar,” he said. Jar Jar left, shaking his head.
“Oh, wait, I'll go with you,” you offered, taking every opportunity to get away from Obi-Wan as possible. You deadpanned as Anakin shook his head.
“Oh, no, no,” he said. “I feel the tension between you, and my Master. I'll leave you two alone.”
“No, Anakin, no.” Obi-Wan exclaimed with wide eyes. “I . . . I will check the security myself, and you will stay here.”
“All right,” Anakin shrugged. “Y/N, go with him.”
“What? No,” you shook your head. “I-I will stay here.”
Anakin deadpanned, looking at you then looked at his Master. “What's wrong with you two? It's not like something unforgivable happened between you two.”
You blinked once. Then twice. And so did Obi-Wan.
“Oh, I see,” exclaimed Anakin. “Anyways, you two go check the security. I will stay with Padme.”
“You are not the Master here, Anakin.” “I won't move.”
You and Obi-Wan exclaimed at the same time as Anakin laughed.
“We'll see about that.” Anakin said, smirking.
Tumblr media
“You, uh, you've grown up.” Obi-Wan said for the first time as the lift continued its climb.
“So have you,” you replied, averting your eyes.
Anakin, the dipshit, had, unfortunately, successfully convinced you both to go check the security while he remained at the apartment of Padme. He took all his might to make you both go. He even had a formal speech about how he's more important staying in the apartment more than either of you.
“I-I heard, uh, that you are the Council's Padawan? I-I mean, I'm proud of you.”
Is the great Obi-Wan Kenobi, who had killed a Sith Lord ten years ago with a rank of nothing but a Padawan of Jedi Master Qui-gon Jinn . . . nervous?
“Yes, I am,” you nodded in confirmation. “They couldn't decide who will be my Master and therefore, decided that they would train me themselves. I practice with Master Plo Koon most of the time, though.”
Obi-Wan felt his lips forming a wide smile. “That's great, lit- Y/N. That is very great indeed.”
Was he about to call you by the nickname he had given you the first time you two met? Why is the lift taking so long to climb? Did Anakin do something about it, to make it slow? To torture both of you?
“Thank you. What about Anakin? How are the things going on?”
“Well, for certain,” he let out a deep sigh. “Being responsible for training a Padawan, especially one like Anakin, is a hard work and demands a virtuousness. He is a great Padawan. He's just, well, arrogant.”
“You know, you should look on the brighter side.”
Obi-Wan, finally, looked at you for the first time.
“Pardon?”
“He love things intensely. He treat droids like real people. He put others before himself. He, like any other Jedi, believe it's their duty to protect others,” you said.
“I suppose you are right,” he mumbled.
Finally! You both stepped into the corridor, a door across the way slid open, and Anakin was already waiting for you both. He was pacing back and forth. You took off your cloak and passed it to Obi-Wan, who put it on the couch, neatly folded.
Obi-Wan looked about curiously, his gaze settling on Anakin. "Captain Typho has more than enough men downstairs," he said. "No assassin will try that way.
“Any activity up here?" You asked Anakin.
"Quiet as a tomb," Anakin replied. "I don't like just waiting here for something to happen."
Obi-Wan gave a little shake of his head, a movement showing his resignation concerning Anakin's predictability, and took a view scanner from his belt, checking his screen. His expression, shifting from curious to confused to concerned.
“What's going on, Master?” You asked Obi-Wan, noticing his concerned look.
Anakin looked at you. “Ah, she covered the cameras,” he turned his head towards the door of the Senator's room. “I don't think she liked me watching her.”
You smacked the back of Anakin's head before you crossed your arms over your chest. “Because you were being creepy, Ani. I told you that she would rather have me here than you.”
“Well first of all, that hurts,” Anakin trailed off with a small pout. “And second, it already happened. And third, there's no third.”
“Silence.” Obi-Wan ordered his face tensed and he let out a little growl. “What is she thinking? Her security is paramount, and is compromised-”
"She programmed Artoo to warn us if there's an intruder," Anakin explained, trying to calm Obi-Wan before his concern could gain any real momentum.
“You do know that there are many ways to kill someone, don't you, Anakin?” You asked, frowning.
“I know, but we also want to catch this assassin,” Anakin said to you, his tone determined, then he looked at Obi-Wan. “Don't we, Master?”
“You're using her as bait?” Obi-Wan asked incredulously, his eyes widening in shock, and disbelief as well as yours.
You sighed, and groaned. “Why are you so stubborn?”
“It was her idea,” Anakin protested, but his sharp tone showed clearly that he agreed with the plan. “Don't worry. No harm will come to her. I can sense everything going on in that room. Trust me.”
“It's too risky,” Obi-Wan scolded. “Besides, your senses aren't that attuned, my young apprentice.”
Anakin parsed his words and his tone carefully, trying to sound not defensive, but rather suggestive. “And yours are?”
Obi-Wan could not deny the look of intrigue that crossed his face. “Possibly,” he admitted.
You rolled your eyes at the two. You walked to the window, unclipped your lightsaber, and sat on the ground with your legs crossed in a mediating form. You then closed your eyes, focusing on the force.
“Uh, what are you doing?” Anakin asked, looking at you with a raising eyebrows.
“Meditating, obviously,” you replied.
“I know that,” said Anakin, annoyed. “Why now?” Much to his dismay, you did not answer. His blue eyes widened as he saw your body, slowly lifting up the ground. Your lightsaber floating as well.
Obi-Wan, with his arms crossed as he leaned on the wall, smiled proudly at you. It took every ounce of willpower he could muster to not merely rush in and crush you in a hug when he saw you enter the apartment.
As he looked at your hair, he notice the way the light catches in it and it shimmers as it flows with your every move. He found himself self wanting to bury his face in your hair, as if to hide from the world and all the problems it holds for him on a daily basis. The slight hint of moisture on your lips making them glisten in the light, causing them to look as though they are really a reflection on the waters of a pond in the gardens of the Jedi Temple. Obi-Wan closed his eyes for just a moment and inhaled deeply, and he could smell you again, the scent that had been burned into him as you.

I like to imagine that Obi Wan and Quinlan were close friends and all but also competitive moms when it came to their padawans.
Obi Wan: Anakin completed the training course in 7 minutes and 56 seconds today.
Quinlan: Yes well I’m pretty sure that’s still 1 minute and 43 seconds over Aayla’s temple record setting time of 6 minutes 13 seconds.
Quinlan: Aayla made a mini model star ship in her Mechanics class today. And she gave it to me...it flies! Isn’t that so cute?
Obi Wan: Very adorable! Anakin made me a whole new astromech droid from scarp R2 parts. We have matching droids now.
Quinlan: Well...Aayla is in love with her Commander. Beat! That!
Obi Wan: Hah! Anakin is married to a senator!
Meanwhile Anakin and Aayla:

Chapter 8
A lot had happened in the past month; Anakin had lost R2 on a mission and you’d all been betrayed by his replacement, Ahsoka had been sent on a special mission with Master Luminara, where yet another betrayal had taken place, then Anakin and Obi-Wan had been sent to Florrum to confirm the claim of some pirates who said they had captured and were holding Count Dooku for ransom, which had been going well, until they then got captured themselves. Luckily, with each of these incidents, things had worked out in you and your friends’ favor, and you were all back together once again.
It wasn’t long until you were given your next assignment, this being to aid Aayla Secura and her forces in an intense air fight that had turned more dangerous once their ship was invaded.
You’d been able to board said ship, after your gunship unceremoniously crashed into it, and had found Aayla and her men quickly. You all fought through waves of droids as you attempted to make it to the lower hangar where Anakin had a ship waiting to aid in your escape. Unfortunately, right before you were able to board, a huge explosion occurred and, acting on instinct, Anakin pushed all of you through the doors and tried to hold the oncoming explosion back, which lead to him getting badly injured.
After getting yourselves and Anakin onboard the ship, you had made your way to the Resolute and readied to board, but again, things went a little haywire and the hyperdrive ended up being accidentally activated, meaning you had to detach the ship, so as not to take them with you as you were forced into hyperspace.
You’d only been traveling for about twenty minutes before Aayla’s commander, Bly, realized what the coordinates you were traveling to were, and, since you seemed to be having so much luck as it was, you were headed right for a star.
Luckily, you all were able to avoid the star, but ended up crash landing on a nearby planet. Which is what brought you here, setting up camp on some unknown planet, and trying to figure out your next move.
“Anakin doesn’t have much time, we have to find help tonight”, Aalya spoke, addressing the group.
You nodded your agreement as Ahsoka spoke up next.
“Okay, you guys go South and find help, Rex and I will stay with Anakin”, she suggested.
You already knew this plan would be shot down, before Aayla even said a word.
“No, Ahsoka, in order to get help quickly, we must work together”, she told the padawan.
“But I can’t just leave him, he wouldn’t leave me if the tables were turned”, Ahsoka said, trying to defend her reasoning, however, you could tell this wasn’t going to get her what she wanted from the jedi master.
“I know this is hard, Ahsoka, but Anakin must stay here, and you must do what is best for the group”, she explained.
Ahsoka didn’t like the idea of leaving him behind, and you felt bad for her, knowing how she felt, you didn’t like having to leave a man behind, especially if it was someone close to you, and who could be closer to a padawan than her master, so you decided to come up with an alternative.
“I’ll stay”, you offered, placing a comforting hand on Ahsoka’s shoulder and giving her a small smile, before turning to address your fellow general. “Master Secura, Ahsoka has a point, we can‘t just leave Anakin defenseless out here without at least one force sensitive individual. We don’t know what could be lurking about this planet, and I think it would be safer to have someone who could sense any oncoming danger before it arises.”
You waited patiently as Aayla seemed to consider your words. Finally, she looked to you and nodded.
“Yes, you and the padawan do make a good point, perhaps you should stay with Skywalker, just to be safe”, she agreed.
Ahsoka then smiled up at you, a silent thank you in her eyes, and you sent a reassuring smile back.
“With all due respect General, I’d like to stay as well, as backup”, Rex said as he came to stand beside you, directing his words at Aayla.
She looked to him and gave a single nod of approval.
“Very well, General (L/N) and Captain Rex will stay here while the rest of us go and find help”, she stated.
Ahsoka then turned and walked to Anakin, who still hadn’t regained consciousness, but was now resting in a tent-like structure made from pieces of the fallen ship.
“Be strong Master”, she told him. “(Y/N) and Rex will watch over you.”
“Don’t worry kid, we’ll take good care of him”, Rex reassured her.
“He’s in good hands Ahsoka”, you added.
She turned to the two of you and smiled.
“I know he is”, she said, giving you a nod of gratitude before following Aayla and her men into the tall grass.
“Be safe”, you shouted to the group.
“You too”, Ahsoka hollered back, which caused a small smile to form on your face. That girl was just as caring as you sometimes, in fact, as time passed you had started to notice you two had more than a few things in common, which was probably why you got along so well, her becoming almost like a younger sibling to you.
You sighed deeply, noting a dull ache in your side, along your ribcage. You had gotten pretty beat up during that crash, and you’d expected a few bruises here and there as a result, but you could tell this one was going to be a little worse than the rest. Still, it was nothing too serious, certainly nothing you couldn’t push through, and you decided you’d simply deal with it later.
You heard shuffling behind you and turned to see Rex sitting at the mouth of Anakin’s tent, taking guard. Deciding to join him, you made your way to the tent, settling down beside him, only slightly wincing as you sat, the dull pain in your side becoming a little more noticeable with the action.
“You alright”, he asked, noting your brief pained expression and the quiet hiss that had followed.
You looked to him and smiled.
“Yeah, fine, just a little banged up from the crash, nothing to be concerned about though”, you replied, trying to brush it off.
“That’s what you always say” he said, raising an eyebrow at you skeptically.
“And I’m always right.”
He let out a huff of laughter and shook his head.
“Still, I think it wise if we check, better to be safe than sorry, especially since you never take any injury of yours seriously, even when a trained medic might; it could be worse than you think”, he said, turning his body to face you.
You rolled your eyes, but then gave him a look.
“You sure that’s the only reason you want to check my injury, because it sounds to me like you’re just trying to get me out of my clothes”, you said, a note of playfulness in your tone, one he didn’t seem to catch.
“What, no, I just… I’m simply concerned for your health. I’d never use that as an excuse to…”, he had begun to ramble, a slight redness growing over his cheeks and the bridge of his nose. You’d really gotten him this time, and you couldn’t help but laugh at how flustered he’d become in just a few seconds.
“Relax Rex, I’m just messing with you”, you said through your laughter. “You make it too easy sometimes.”
He sighed and turned to face forward again.
“Ha, ha, you’re hilarious”, he said, unamused, but not angered. He knew you meant no harm in it, but that didn’t stop him from finding it just a tad annoying. He always tried to keep a certain amount of stoicism about him, and you seemed hell bent on trying to break it every chance you got. Although, truth be told, it was a trait he somehow found himself appreciating in you, he’d even venture to say he found it a bit… endearing, not that he’d ever admit that to you.
“Okay, okay, I’m sorry, I’ll stop”, you said as you forced yourself to stop laughing, only letting out a small chuckle here and there before finally being successful.
You then just sat there, letting the sounds of nature around you fill the silence. This allowed a sense of calm to wash over you, and prompted your mind to wander, bringing up thoughts you’d had on your mind recently, some relevant, some not, some that had been reoccurring for a long while, and you spent the next couple hours silently filing through all of them, while Rex sat quietly beside you, periodically scanning the tall grasses for any sign of danger. You were glad he’d opted to stay behind with you, seeing as out of the two of you, he was certainly the more vigilant, but you also knew that if a threat were to make itself known, you would sense it before it got too close, at least, you hoped that would be the case.
The sun had just set, and you were lost in your thoughts when one in particular sprung to the forefront of your mind, the one that had been coming up more often than not lately.
“Hey, Rex”, you said, attempting to get the attention of the man beside you. He hummed his acknowledgment as he continued to scan his surroundings. “Can I ask you a weird question?”
He turned his head to look at you, his eyebrow raised.
“Don’t you always?”
You gave him a look before lightly back handing his shoulder, your knuckle making a small knocking sound as it hit the piece of plastoid covering it.
“Very funny, but seriously, can I”, you asked him.
He then gave you a single nod. “Of course, what is it?”
“Do you believe in destiny?”
The question seemed to throw him off a bit as his brow hitched once more and his eyes widened ever so slightly.
“Do I believe in destiny”, he asked, repeating the question, almost as if he didn’t quite understand it, or maybe he just didn’t understand why you were asking.
“Yeah, you know, destiny, that power that predicts, or even controls, what will happen in one’s future”, you clarified.
“I know what destiny is (Y/N)”, he said, offering you a small smile.
“Oh, so… do you, believe in it”, you asked again.
He turned to look over the swaying grasses once more, this time seeming deep in thought.
“I’m… not sure, I guess it’s a nice thought, knowing that there’s a plan to all this, and that we’re not just stumbling around blindly, wasting our time on things that won’t really matter in the long run”, he finally said, not taking his eyes from the scenery before him.
Your eyes widened. That hadn’t been the response you’d expected.
“Wow, that’s a really bleak way of looking at it”, you said with a light humorless chuckle.
He looked to you then, the expression on his face telling you that he hadn’t meant what he said to come off so negative.
“No, I didn’t mean it like that”, he said, trying to backtrack and correct his wording. “I guess what I’m trying to say is that it’s nice to think that things are planned out for us, and that things happen for a reason, that we’re all a part of something greater, that we’re all necessary.”
You thought this over for a moment before responding.
“I think I understand what you mean, and I can’t say I disagree. After all, it is nice to feel needed”, you said, offering him another smile, one which he happily returned.
“So, while I’m not sure if I fully believe in the idea of destiny, I would like to think there’s some truth to it, if for no other reason than to use it as a small source of comfort. Does that answer your question”, he asked earnestly.
“Yes, I think it does, thank you”, you said, then taking a moment to silently appreciate the fact that, no matter how ridiculous the question, or how strange the topic, Rex would always indulge you, and carry out even the most nonsensical conversations, just to satisfy you and your curiosity. He truly was the best, and you reminded yourself of how lucky you were to have him around.
“What about you”, he suddenly asked, breaking the short-lived silence.
You looked at him, confused. “What about me?”
He chuckled, knowing he must’ve snapped you out of your own head again, hence your confusion.
“Do you believe in destiny”, he asked.
“Oh, yes, I think I do”, you replied.
“And why is that”, he asked curiously.
“Well, a lot of things have happened throughout my life so far, a lot of people have come in and out of my life, and more often than not, with each new experience, I’ve gotten the feeling that, whatever the change, it was meant to happen, like I was supposed to have those experiences, my life was supposed to shift in the direction it did, the why is the only thing I can’t seem to figure out, but I think that with time, that will make itself apparent”, you told him.
“Uh huh, and what experiences would you be referring to, your experiences while training as a jedi, or your placement on Kamino, perhaps?”
You chuckled. “Well, yeah, those are good examples, I guess, but I was thinking of times when the feeling was stronger, like after that first battle on Geonosis, and when I was assigned to the 501st, both those times were when I felt it the strongest, and both of those events had one thing in common.”
“And what’s that”, he asked.
You let out an amused laugh and shook your head before answering.
“You, laser brain”, you said, keeping the grin on your face.
“Me”, he asked, confused once again.
“Yes, you. I got the feeling first after our meeting, and then again after our reunion”, you explained, then looking ahead as you continued, “It’s hard to really explain, but I just got this overwhelming sense of rightness, like we were supposed to meet and be brought back together again, and I still get that feeling, even now. It’s like, I’m right where I’m supposed to be. I know that probably doesn’t make any sense. Maybe I’m just overthinking it.”
“No”, Rex said abruptly, causing you to look back to his gaze, which you now saw was unwavering. “I, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel something similar. So, no, I don’t think your overthinking it.” He then paused, as if contemplating his next words. “If I could be completely honest with you, I feel as if you’ve brought a certain sense of… purpose, to my life, shown me that there’s more to life than this war, that I can be a soldier, while still being a person, and I’m grateful for that.”
At first you didn’t know how to respond, his words touching the softest part of your heart.
“I… didn’t know you felt that way”, you admitted.
“I do”, he said, his eyes not leaving yours, as a way to prove to you that he was being honest.
You gave him a soft smile as you spoke.
“Well, if we’re sharing, then I think I should tell you that you’ve brought many a good thing into my life as well. You’re always there for me, no matter what, and you’ve given me a companionship that I wouldn’t trade for the entire galaxy. I’m glad we met, glad that you’re now a part of my life, and I owe you a lot”, you confessed.
He sent you a soft smile of his own.
“You don’t owe me anything, you being here is payment enough”, he said.
You wanted to say more, wanted to tell him the whole truth of your feelings towards him, but all you could bring yourself to do was smile back.
You then turned your head back to the grass, smile still on your face, and when you were finally able to find your words, you spoke.
“See, maybe we were destined to be friends”, you said, gaze still straight ahead.
He was silent a moment but then replied in an almost somber tone.
“Yeah, friends.”
Noting his shift in demeanor, you turned back to look at him, seeing that he had now turned his head to the complete opposite side, almost as if he were trying to avoid your gaze at all costs. You were about to ask him if something was wrong, but your attention was quickly pulled away as you heard a faint shuffling in the grass. You turned to look in the direction of the noise, squinting your eyes to try and peer into the darkness that surrounded the small camp area. You felt Rex shift to look in the same direction.
“Did you hear that”, you asked him.
“Mm hmm”, he hummed quietly, before slowly getting to his feet. He adorned his helmet and clicked on the small lights attached to its sides, then looked around. “I’ll go sweep the perimeter; you stay with the general.”
“Okay”, you said as he began making his way around the campsite, pistol in hand and on high alert. “Be careful”, you whispered, loud enough for him to hear, but not loud enough to alert anyone, or anything, nearby.
As Rex performed his sweep, you began to get an uneasy feeling, but before you could voice this to him Anakin shuffled behind you. You turned and saw that he was coming to, so you quickly entered the tent to check on him. He tried to sit up and you placed a hand to his chest, trying to ease him back to his previous position.
“Don’t try and do too much, you’ll only strain yourself”, you told him quietly.
By this point Rex had completed his sweep and made it back to the front of the tent. He noticed you speaking to Anakin and came to stand at the tent’s entrance.
“How is he”, he asked you.
“Not really sure, he just started waking up and tried to sit up, I told him not to strain himself”, you replied.
“General (L/N) is right sir, you shouldn’t move too much”, Rex told your fellow jedi.
However, this didn’t stop Anakin from trying to sit up again, this time with more of an effort. You tried to usher him back down, but then he spoke.
“Rex”, he rasped. “Be- behind you.”
You both looked to where he’d indicated, and before you could even think a coherent thought, a large bird-like creature sprang from the tall grass, grabbing Rex by the arm with its beak and throwing him away from the camp. Then with a speed you hadn’t expected from such a large animal, it was on him, pinning him to the ground.
You shouted his name, worry thick in your voice as you felt Anakin begin his attempt to rise once more.
“We- we’ve gotta help him”, he said, voice still heavy with a rasp of pain.
“No”, you told him firmly. “You’re in no condition to fight. You stay here, I’ve got this.”
With that, you gently released your hold on Anakin and leapt to your feet, sprinting towards the creature that held your friend in its grip, lightsaber already in hand and ignited, but before you could make it to them, a shot went off, and you saw the creature raise its front leg, screeching in pain. You expected it to then run off, scared after being shot, but instead you saw it gearing up to strike a blow with its injured appendage, clearly aiming to maim with its sharp talons.
Thinking quickly, you picked up your speed and slid across the ground once you were close enough, stopping right next to them, then rolling over onto Rex, your back against him, effectively putting yourself between him and the menacing animal. You did this just in time for the creature’s talons to come down on you, instead of your captain. Luckily, you were able to bring your lightsaber up to shield yourself from the blow, causing the talons to fall on it, and not you. The creature screeched in pain once again, this time louder than before, as its skin made contact with your blade. It then shifted its weight off of Rex as it jumped over the both of you and retreated back to the grassy plains.
Acting on instinct, you immediately flipped over and took a defensive position above the man you aimed to protect. With your saber raised, you glared at the surrounding terrain, scanning the area for any other predators who might dare a go at you, but nothing else ventured from the grass. You then felt a gentle hand wrap around your wrist.
“I think it’s gone (Y/N), we’re okay now”, Rex said in a tone just as gentle as his touch. You could tell he was trying to calm your nerves, which were now heightened and caused you to feel very on edge and defensive. However, the warmth of his touch and sound of his soft voice soon had them calming, just as he’d intended, and you disengaged your saber, slowly lowering the hilt to your side before looking back down at him.
“Are you alright”, you asked him, worry etched into your features.
“I am, thanks to you”, he said.
You smiled down at him until you realized the position you were in and froze, a look of embarrassment replacing your smile, a blush rising over your cheeks.
In your rushed actions to save Rex from being mauled by that beast, you had thrown your entire body over his, and when you’d flipped yourself over, the position you’d taken was one that now had you straddling his mid-torso.
“Oh, I- I’m sorry”, you muttered as you lifted off of him and rushed to stand, causing his hand to fall from your wrist on your way up.
He chuckled. “You don’t need to apologize for protecting me (Y/N), besides, no harm done”, he reassured you, rising to his feet and taking off his helmet. You noticed the grin he was giving you and just knew his amusement was due to your sudden flustered behavior, but this didn’t upset you, if anything, it lightened your mood, because you knew it meant he really was alright, and that thing hadn’t harmed him. You sighed with relief and lightly laughed.
“Well, as long as you’re alright…”
“I am, thank you”, he replied.
You nodded and made your way back to the makeshift tent to check on Anakin, Rex at your heel. You found that he had passed out again, so you left him to rest and joined Rex at the mouth of the structure once more. This time you two had decided to sit back-to-back at the entrance so it would be easier to scope out the surrounding area. However, after an hour of this, you felt your eyes becoming heavy with sleep. Rex must’ve felt you slipping, because he soon turned his head, trying to see you from his current position.
“You should rest, I can take over from here”, he told you in a low voice, so as not to alert anything else that might’ve been lurking about.
“I’m fine, I’ve stayed awake longer than this before”, you informed him.
“I know, but you’ve had quite a day, and your injured, even if you don’t want to admit it.”
You raised a brow and gave him a sideways look, not that he could see it from where you both were, but you did it nonetheless. You knew he was only trying to look out for you, but you were an adult and could make those decisions on your own, and you decided to stick it out, even if your side was now aching a bit more due to your previous physical exertion.
“Seriously, I’m fine, and I’m staying awake”, you told him, with what you thought was determination in your voice, but what he knew to be stubbornness.
He sighed. “Alright then, if you say so”, he said, then went back to silently watching the landscape before him.
You had fully intended on staying awake until the others returned, but soon you felt your head grow heavy, your eyes began to droop once again, and before you knew it, you had drifted off to the sounds of the swaying grass in the gentle breeze, and the insects making their nightly music.
***
Rex knew you were asleep when he felt you go slack against his back, and he couldn’t help but grin to himself. He figured it wouldn’t take too much longer until you succumbed to your body’s need for sleep. You’d been running yourself ragged for a couple weeks now, and today had finally pushed you over the edge. He knew you’d lose the battle at some point; a person could only take so much before their basic needs won out.
As carefully as he could, Rex turned and moved you to a more comfortable position, figuring that laying against the hard plastoid on his back was anything but. So, he removed the piece of armor covering the top of his left thigh and gently laid your head in its place, knowing it was the best he could offer, given the current situation. It seemed to do the trick though, because even though the movement caused you to stir slightly, you soon relaxed and fell back into a deeper sleep, a faint contented smile overtaking your lips, one which prompted him to smile down at you in adoration.
You looked so at peace, and he couldn’t help but notice how the glow from the nearby campfire illuminated your face in a way that made you look even more beautiful than you already did. If he could, he’d stay here forever, surrounded by the sounds of the night coupled with your rhythmic breathing, watching you sleep soundly by the fire light, and feeling your warmth against him; it was nothing short of a perfect moment, at least to him it was.
Rex was so wrapped up in this little moment of his that he hadn’t noticed the man lying behind them, who had woken up a minute prior, and had seen the scene that had just played out between his two friends. He saw the look his captain was giving you as you slept, and mentally congratulated himself as his intuition had been confirmed. He then laid his head back down and closed his eyes, falling back asleep with a grin on his face.
***
You didn’t know how long you had been asleep, but it felt like too short of a time as you were being awoken by a familiar voice attempting to ease you into consciousness. Your eyes fluttered open, and you were greeted with the brightness of the sun shining on the fields around you. Still a bit dazed from your slumber, you sat up and rubbed the sleep from your eyes, letting out a soft groan as you stretched your arms above your head, noting the pain in your side that had dulled slightly, but you knew it would be a couple of days until it completely subsided.
“What happened”, you asked sleepily.
“You fell asleep” Rex replied from behind you, causing you to turn and squint your tired eyes at him.
“How long was I out?”
He shrugged. “A couple hours”, he responded.
“Why didn’t you wake me sooner?”
He gave you a look that told you, you should know why.
“Because you needed it”, he said, then looked down as he fiddled with the plastoid piece over his thigh.
You looked to where he was now focused and took on a look of concern.
“You okay”, you asked him.
“Yeah, it just needed a bit of readjusting is all”, he explained.
You nodded in understanding, having seen many a soldier who had to do the same, and again you found yourself thinking of how uncomfortable their attire must be, especially when worn over long periods of time. That being said, you let it go, trusting it was nothing more than what he said, and did a quick scan of the area.
“Anything of note happen while I was out”, you asked.
“Nope, unless you count your snoring as something of note”, he said, sending you a playful grin.
You looked to him, eyes widened.
“I do not snore”, you said defensively.
He raised his hand and moved his index finger and thumb so that they were almost touching, but not quite.
“A little bit”, he said, his eyes squinting with his words.
You crossed your arms but couldn’t help the smile pulling at your lips.
“Well, so do you”, you countered.
He laughed. “I don’t doubt it”, he said.
You both then broke out into a muted laughter, smiling at one another once your laughter eventually faded. Your face then suddenly went serious, and you turned your attention toward the grass.
“What is it”, Rex asked, his demeanor shifting quickly with yours.
“They’re coming”, you responded.
“Who”, he asked, “the others?”
You shook your head in response. “No.”
Just then Anakin began to rise from his position on the ground, trying to sit up, but Rex placed a hand on his shoulder to stop him.
“General, you need to maintain your rest”, he told him, but Anakin wasn’t going to give up this time.
“I can’t rest, she’s right, they’re coming”, he argued, and Rex finally allowed him to sit up, then helped him to stand and held him steadily with one arm, while holding a blaster in the other.
“There are a few from what I can sense”, you informed them.
“How many”, Rex asked.
“Enough that we’ll have our work cut out for us”, Anakin said from beside him, letting out a short hiss of pain as he attempted to keep himself upright.
“They’re here”, you said, before three of those bird-like creatures stepped slowly out of the tall grass.
The beasts screeched and pawed at the dirt ground beneath them, preparing to strike. You and Anakin ignited your lightsabers while Rex raised his blaster, ready to defend yourselves, and within the next moment they attached, running toward your group. Rex took one out with a few shots, one hitting the creature square between the eyes and causing it to fall instantly. The other two continued to bound toward you and as one got close enough you all jumped out of the way, landing away from each other. You looked back to where the tent had been, only to see it now broken apart, its pieces scattered around where it once stood as one of the creatures had barreled right through it, said creature now shaking its head, temporarily disoriented from the incident, but where was…
“(Y/N), look out”, you heard Rex shout to you from across the campsite.
You quickly flipped over to see the other creature leap toward you, and with not enough time to avoid the impact altogether, you raised your feet to meet its chest, catching it before it could properly pounce on you, using this leverage to hold the beast’s snapping beak from your throat. You weren’t entirely lucky, however, as it had managed to pin your arms down by the wrists, the sudden impact causing your saber to fall from your hand and roll a few feet out of reach. You struggled for a moment, and you began to hear others approaching, although this time you could tell they weren’t more predators, but instead were the others returning. This fact gave you some newfound energy and you looked to your saber, opening your hand palm out, calling it to you. In another second the saber was returned to your hand, and you angled it to face the creature before then igniting it. From where you were the saber pierced through the animal’s upper front leg, causing it to screech out in pain and lift the limb, freeing your arm and allowing you to then stab the saber through its chest, striking its heart and effectively killing it. The animal then fell forward, its whole weight being placed onto you, and you struggled to free yourself from underneath it.
After a few minutes of this, you suddenly felt hands grab your own and pull, then freeing you from the suffocating weight atop you.
You looked up to see Rex and Ahsoka looking down at you worriedly.
“Are you okay”, Ahsoka asked.
You smiled and let out a heavy breath.
“Yeah, fine, and you”, you answered, the hint of a joke in your tone, which caused both of them to roll their eyes as their expressions turned to ones of relief. The two then helped you up and you all made your way back to the group, passing a now tied up creature, the last of the three that had attached you.
You noticed an unfamiliar addition and guessed him to be a local, which was then confirmed when Ahsoka introduced him as the village’s healer, Wag Too. He agreed to take you all back to the village and fix up anyone who needed it, Anakin being at the top of that list. So, you loaded Anakin on a stretcher and began the trek to the village.
Wag Too took the lead as Ahsoka and Bly followed close behind, carrying Anakin in the stretcher, while you and Rex took up the rear.
It didn’t take you long to notice something was off with the captain; he had a subtle limp and seemed to be coddling his left arm as it hung a bit limp at his side.
“You’re hurt”, you exclaimed, immediately worried again.
“I’ll live. Besides, its probably just a bruise”, he said, in a playful tone. He was mocking you, and while normally you wouldn’t mind, this was a serious matter and you wanted to treat it as such.
“That’s not funny Rex, this is serious, you could’ve sustained some real damage”, you told him, scowl on your face.
“Hang on, so when it’s you worrying about me, it’s serious, but when I worry about your injuries, suddenly its not an issue”, he asked, giving you a perplexed look.
“Yep, that’s right.”
“That’s a double standard if I ever heard one”, he said, frowning slightly.
“Well, get used to it, because when it comes to putting the health of those close to me above my own, I’m full of ‘em”, you informed him, then moved closer and reached for his non-injured arm. “Now, let me help you, you shouldn’t be walking on your own until you get that looked at.”
You draped his arm around your shoulders and wrapped yours around his torso, letting him use you for support while holding him up as best you could. He then sighed, as if defeated.
“I guess there’s no point arguing, is there?”
“Nope. I’m helping you and you’ll just have to bear it”, you replied with a smirk.
He chuckled behind his helmet. “I think I can do that.”
***
The village was buzzing with curious villagers upon your arrival; they all looked at your group like they hadn’t seen anything like you. Outsiders must not have been a common occurrence on this planet, not that, that surprised you.
Anakin was taken into what looked to be a giant hollowed out seed, for his healing to begin. Then, after some time had passed, Rex was taken in to get his arm and leg looked at, and you sat patiently with Ahsoka on a nearby hill, waiting for the healer’s analysis of the two. You both had been talking for less than an hour before Wag Too approached you again. Standing as he got closer, you asked the burning question.
“Will they be alright?”
He smiled warmly. “Yes, they’ll be just fine”, he informed you. “The jedi will need a few more pod oil treatments and lots of rest, but he’ll pull through, and the soldier should be up and about by tomorrow.”
You let out a small sigh of relief and smiled gratefully down at him.
“Thank you, for all you’ve done, we really appreciate it”, you said.
“It’s not a problem, happy to help, although, it’s been brought to my attention that my work isn’t over just yet”, he replied.
You both gave him a confused look.
“What do you mean”, Ahsoka asked.
“Well, your friend informed me that you were injured as well, Miss, when your ship crashed”, he said, directing his words at you.
“He said that did he? Well, I can assure you I’m fine, nothing more than a bruise, really”, you told him.
“He said you’d say that, and he also said to not believe you and check it anyway”, he told you, seeming to recite the words from memory as opposed to choosing them himself.
You huffed and sat back down.
“Can you believe him, going behind my back like that, I told him I was fine, why can’t he just accept that”, you asked Ahsoka, feeling a bit frustrated at having to repeat yourself so many times in one day because people refused to believe you.
“(Y/N), Rex is only doing this because he’s worried about you, he does it because he’s caring, especially when it comes to you”, she said, her last words prompting a confused look from you, which had her backtracking. “What I mean is… you two are close, so it’s only natural that he cares for you and your wellbeing, that’s what good friends do.”
You sighed again. “Yeah, I guess you’re right”, you said, finally deciding to concede. “Okay fine”, you said to the healer. Wag Too smiled as he then escorted you to an empty pod to perform the examination.
Ahsoka simply smiled as she watched you go, internally chastising herself for almost blowing it. It had become somewhat obvious to her over the time you’d been with them that you had some sort of affect on Rex, and though she wasn’t one hundred percent confident as to the extent of the captain’s feelings, she knew they were there to some degree. However, those feelings were only to be expressed by Rex, and Rex alone, so she would keep it to herself for now, and just see what played out.
***
Turns out you had been right about your injury, it was just a bruise, a bad one, but a bruise nonetheless. An overnight pod oil treatment and an oil coated bandage later, and you were feeling much better. You exited your pod the next morning feeling more rejuvenated than you had in a long while.
While taking in your surroundings, you noticed Rex sitting on a hill a good distance from the village, most likely on watch for any incoming ships.
You’d been meaning to speak with him ever since last night, but at the completion of your examination you were told to stay in your pod and rest to allow the oils to do their work, and so you hadn’t gotten the chance. You knew his actions the day prior weren’t done to undermine you, he simply wanted to help, and you thought an apology was in order, so you made your way up the hill, intending on doing just that.
When you were a few feet away, he noticed you, sending you a smile and greeting you from where he sat.
“Good morning (Y/N)”, he said, seeming to be in good spirits, and this allowing you to smile back easily.
“Morning. May I join you”, you asked.
“Of course”, he said, gesturing to the empty space beside him.
You sat, bringing your knees to your chest and folding your arms over them. You then smiled as you looked over the little village, that while teaming with life as the villagers went about their days, was still rather quiet. Watching them go about their daily routines was almost cathartic in a way, not something you experienced often during wartimes.
“This place is actually pretty nice once you truly take it in, the Lurmen’s way of life is rather… peaceful” you said, voicing your thoughts.
Rex hummed in agreement. “Yeah, I guess it is”, he said.
“How’s your arm”, you asked, eying the fresh bandage wrapped around his injured limb.
“Better, thanks, and you, how’s your side”, he asked earnestly.
“Better, those oil treatments really do work some kind of magic”, you said, forcing a chuckle.
He nodded in agreement, but soon looked at you with a slight worry as he noticed your demeanor.
“Are you sure you’re okay, you seem a little… down”, he said as he continued to analyze your expression.
“Actually, I’ve been meaning to talk to you. It’s about yesterday, I… I got upset with you when I shouldn’t have and I owe you an apology”, you explained, looking him in the eye.
“You… got upset with me, when”, he asked, confused.
“Well not to your face, but yes, I did. It was after Wag Too had treated you; he came out and told us that you had mentioned my injury to him and insisted he treated me as well”, you said, turning your gaze to your folded arms in front of you.
“Oh, yes, I thought you might get mad about that”, he said, “But I only did it because…”
“You care”, you said, cutting him off and continuing, not wanting him to think you were still upset with him. “I know, and I appreciate that. I know I can be stubborn and careless when it comes to my own wellbeing, so, having someone around who cares, means a lot.” You looked over, making eye contact once again as you spoke those last few words. “Thank you, Rex, and I’m sorry.”
He processed your words for a moment, but then nodded his acceptance with a warm smile.
“Any time”, he said, prompting a small laugh of relief from you.
Your moment was interrupted when Rex noticed a ship approaching from the distance. Taking up his scopes, he peered through them to get a better look at the vessel as you squinted up, trying to make it out with just the naked eye.
“Rescue shuttle” you asked him.
“No”, he said warily. “That’s a Separatist ship.”
You sighed. “Great, as if we didn’t have enough problems already”, you grumbled.
Rex activated his commlink and spoke into it.
“Commander Bly, we’ve got company.”
“Friendlies”, you heard Bly ask on the other end.
“Not exactly”, you said, loud enough to be picked up by Rex’s commlink. “More like a Separatist droid ship heading right for us.”
“Acknowledged. General, Captain, you should get back here as soon as you can”, Bly said, forming it as a suggestion, but with the tone of authority used when giving an order.
“On our way”, you told him, Rex then broke the connection. You looked to him and shrugged. “So much for peaceful.”
***
The Separatists had arrived and had immediately begun taking control of the land, but unfortunately, there was nothing you all could do about it. The Lurmen had decided not to fight, as they wished to stay neutral, and they believed this the best way to do so. While your group didn’t agree that this was the best course of action, you had to respect their wishes, and so you worked to get off planet as soon as possible, for if the Separatists learned of a Republic presence on Maridun, there was no hope of the Lurmen’s neutrality being sustained.
With no ship to aid in your escape, Anakin had the idea of stealing one of the Separatists’ shuttles; you thought it a bold plan, but worth a shot. However, after following a probe droid to a Separatist base set on the planet, you’d discovered that they possessed a new weapon, one that could wipe out dozens of living organisms at a time, while not harming anything non-living, like their droid army. After seeing the vast destruction this new weapon could cause, you knew the Lurmen didn’t stand a chance, and so it was decided that you would take out the Separatists’ communication station, grab a shuttle, and then go assist the Lurmen, even if it wasn’t what they wanted; you weren’t just going to leave them to die.
The Lurmen’s leader fought you upon your return and throughout your attempts to protect the village, but you persisted anyway. The Separatists soon arrived and prepared their weapon. Luckily, you all had not only stollen the shuttle, but two shield generators as well, and with those shields you were able to hold back the weapon’s blast, meaning that they had to bring the fight to you, and that’s just what they did.
Your group took out the first wave with little issue, but when the second and third attacked all at once, you were forced to fall back. Anakin charged ahead to take out the weapon, while the rest of you headed for the village, taking down droids as you went. While defending the village, you were surprised to see the villagers begin to aid you in your fight, finally deciding to defend their home. With their help, and Anakin taking out the weapon, your victory came soon after.
You all had managed to save the village and its people, and they were grateful in the end, although, this victory had brought about the question of what this meant for them now, and while you felt sympathetic toward them in this time of unsurety, you still believed you all had done the right thing.
Soon Republic ships arrived to collect you and you found yourself headed off to yet another system in need of assistance.
While lying in your quarters a few hours later, you found yourself thinking back to your conversation with Rex the day before. Everything you’d told him had been nothing but the truth, so why did you feel like you were still lying to him. Maybe because, to an extent, you were, although, you wouldn’t call it lying, just, not telling the whole truth. Everything you said had been true, but there was so much more that was not said, and this is what gnawed at you. You didn’t tell him, because you couldn’t tell him, as you knew the end result would only leave you both hurt, or worse. You would just have to keep those feelings to yourself, for both your sakes. This was an argument you had with yourself time and time again, and every time, your reasonable side would win out, today was no different.
You decided to focus on the present and forget all of those nagging thoughts. All that mattered right now was that Rex was safe, your friends were safe, and you were back, ready to take on what came next.
Little did you know, fate had something unexpected in store for you.

“This is fun,” Aayla says conversationally, “having you beneath me and at my mercy.” She continues lazily grinding against one of Anakin’s thighs where she straddles him on her bed, with him naked and she still clothed in her underwear and tight undershirt. “I knew you’d be good, I could always tell,” she says proudly. “You just need a firm hand and some sweet words, huh?” She smirks down at him, sharp and predatory, and reaches her hand down to pat his cheek in a slightly patronizing way.
Anakin whimpers, his voice already soft and helpless.
This whole scenario had started when he’d drunkenly admitted to Aayla during a night out that he wanted to be dominated in the bedroom, not thinking she’d do anything about it, though he’d be lying if he said he hadn’t thought about her in that way before. And then she’d replied with a curious, “Just by men, or . . . ?” Giving him a little smile and nudging his shoulder with her own from where they were crowded in a booth together.
“Anyone,” Anakin had whispered back, face flaming hot, and Aayla’s knowing, glinting eyes had only made it worse. Nothing more happened that night but for some more teasing and flirting like they’d been doing for a while now, until Aayla brought it up again when they were more sober and they’d had a whole in-depth conversation about it.
And that got him here, to being bare in Aayla’s bed, his arms bound to the head post with binders, and desperate tears already pricking his eyes. He’s not really at her mercy and could easily get out of those binders (he’s done it before on many missions), but it still feels like it and he loves it, loves being helpless and not in control, waiting for Aayla to give him something, anything. She’s portraying herself as oblivious to Anakin’s neediness, how his cock already leaks against his belly and his arms strain and flex against the restraints. She takes her time looking over him, like he’s a toy to play with, and it just heats him up all the more.
She casually reaches for his Padawan braid splayed out on the pillow next to him, twining it around her finger and pulling just slightly, enough to make him softly gasp. She grins at him, knowing she’s giving him a reminder that she’s a Knight and he’s still a Padawan, that she’s above him in that way. “You’re so cute, Ani,” Aayla comments, letting his braid fall back down again, and her words are just on the right side of a little humiliating. “Do you remember your colors?” She asks, in a more commanding voice, again reminding him of her experience where he has little. Anakin nods and swallows.
“Green for keep going, yellow for slow down or pause, and red for stop,” he answers, forcing the words out because his tongue already feels heavy, his head turning into mush, sinking down so easily. She smiles brightly at him.
“Good boy,” she praises, and that makes Anakin shudder all over. He’s wound up so tight, practically shaking because he wants so much that it’s nearly overwhelming. She continues the languid roll of her hips, absently rubbing herself off on Anakin’s thigh and making Anakin feel the dampness of her arousal through her underwear, and the fact that she’s using him like this only makes him more needy.
One of her hands drifts to his mouth, and she slips two elegant fingers between his lips until he lets her slide them inside, pressing them against his tongue and gently thrusting them in once, twice, before pulling out. “I’ll have to use these pretty lips later, I think,” she says, half to herself as she wipes Anakin’s drool from her fingers off onto his cheek, and Anakin whines. Both of Aayla's hands make their way down Anakin’s body until they get to his chest, stopping to squeeze at his pecs with a biting grip.
“And these tits, baby, they’re the prettiest pair I’ve ever seen,” Aayla says, and Anakin instantly feels a mortified blush creeping across his face, but his cock jumps with arousal at her words regardless. “The perfect little handful,” she continues, palming at the flesh and plucking at his nipples as if curious to see all the reactions she can get from him. And she’s one to talk about perfect tits; Anakin can see her nipples through the thin fabric of her shirt, the neckline hanging low as she bends over him so that he can see just an alluring hint of cleavage. His hands pull against the binders without even meaning to, caught in the desire to touch her, like she's got him on a leash and she barely had to do anything.
She flashes another smirk at him and continues caressing her hands down his body, dancing her fingers over his tense stomach and making him squirm and buck his hips up. “Woah there, boy,” she says playfully, nearly being unseated by his movements. Anakin bites his lip abashedly and forces himself still, and Aayla’s hands move down to grip tightly at his hips. She grinds herself down onto his thigh a few more times before getting off of him, instead guiding him to spread his legs so that she can kneel between them.
Aayla teases her fingers down the inside of his thighs, making them quiver just by the gentle touch. “Oh, he's sensitive,” she says, rubbing little circles into his skin, “so sweet.” Anakin doesn’t think he could get any redder than he is at this moment. She bypasses his aching cock for now and instead trails her fingers further between his legs, delving behind his balls and making him tense up in anticipation. “Do you like to be touched here too?” She asks teasingly, pressing a finger to Anakin’s taint, making him moan and writhe. “Mmh, yeah you do, honey,” she does in a cooing voice, one that has tears springing to his eyes once more.
Aayla’s fingers tease ever so slightly down to his hole, making him clench and tense up again, and she laughs lightly before pulling away. He lets out a tiny whimper of complaint, barely muffled, but then she wraps a hand around his cock finally and so it isn’t too bad. His teeth grit at the sudden stimulation to his cock, her hand wrapped loosely around his length and taking her time in stroking up and down, almost curiously. “This cock is so nice, the perfect size,” she says, spreading his copious pre-come around the head with her thumb.
“I might even let you fuck me some time,” she says with a grin, and that has Anakin near sobbing, ready to beg for it. “But for now . . .” She continues, pulling her hand away from his body, “I did say something about using your mouth.” That idea is just as good and it has Anakin struggling to keep his hips from bucking up again, especially as Aayla finally starts getting undressed. His mouth goes dry as she pulls the undershirt over her head, revealing the soft swell of her breasts with dusky nipples and her toned stomach, before pulling her underwear down her legs and casting them aside.
So much smooth, blue skin is suddenly revealed to him, and Anakin wouldn't know where to touch first even if he was allowed to, lost in her strong thighs, the hint of her cunt between them, the way her lekku sways with her movement as she gets closer to Anakin again. She straddles one of his thighs once more and drags her bare cunt wetly along him, and the sensation is too much to bear now.
“Please—” he begs, voice cracking, eyes looking imploringly up at her. “Please let me taste you, sit on my face, use my mouth, please—” He hears a hitching of breath, feels a stuttering of hips; it’s the first real time she’s showed how affected she is too, and it has him straining against the binders, flexing his muscles and parting his eager lips.
“Well, when you ask so nicely, how can I refuse?” She says, her teasing tone only slightly ruined by her shaky voice. She goes up on her knees and moves up his body until she straddles his face, cunt glistening above him, and she threads her fingers through his hair with a sigh. As Aayla descends down on him and the sweet tang of her cunt envelops his senses, he thinks that there’s no place he’d rather be.

Anakin is a rock star, singer of a band called "The Siths" (and yes, I would reuse MCR's songs because they really fit him and because in fics you can do that, lmao).
He's 24/25 years old and recently divorced Padmé, so the twins (or just one of them) is already 2 or 3 years old.
He uses the divorce as inspiration for the songs on the band's new album, but releasing that album would mean going through another problem with Sheev Palpatine, who is the owner of a very famous record company; he imposed a contract with an unfair percentage of pay, and being such a famous record company, if the band decides to terminate the contract because of that problem and go somewhere else, Palpatine would make the band go bankrupt.
And he doesn't want Rex, Aayla and Owen (his bandmates) to suffer for that again.
On the other hand, there's Obi-Wan, who is a lawyer and Ahsoka's adoptive father; he's long divorced from Satine, and it turns out that Soka is a big fan of "Vader" (Anakin's stage name) and his band.
Because of the problems caused by Palpatine, Anakin is advised to seek out "Obi-Wan Kenobi" as a lawyer, as he is one of the best.
Kenobi, when he crosses paths with Skywalker, realises that for some strange reason he knows his voice; and it is not the feeling of a famous voice, but rather a familiar one, as if he has heard it for a long time.
SO WHEN OBI-WAN REALIZES THAT AHSOKA IS AN ANAKIN FAN- help.
He would start listening to The Siths' songs when he is alone, because he used to tell Ahsoka that the songs of that band were too "sad".
And, and, and,,, I need this, I have to write it down.
btw, a special mention to one of my best friends, Chris, for doing the edit. 💕

Okay for your fandom friday (which I adore by the way) I’ll drop this: https://archiveofourown.org/works/40652733/chapters/101856249
It’s by @gilded-moon and it’s an au where the Coruscant Guard is assigned a Jedi. Very sweet romance with Fox and the author’s oc. Very good angst too. There is a series but I just linked the first part.
Thank you for doing your fandom friday. It’s such a great way for me to find new fics and I really appreciate the work you do and the things you write. Stay awesome :D
First of all, thank you Anon! That's so sweet to say and I'm so glad you enjoy Fandom Friday and that it helps you find new fics! Also, you had me at "Fix it" and "Order 66 Didn't Happen". Some of the other tags also have me grinning like a fiend, but I'll keep those to myself so others will go check. Our boy Fox deserves a sweet relationship (and a hug) and just so much gentleness, and it sounds like this fic will give him just that. Also, angst? I'm in.
Participate in Fandom Friday to show your favorite creators from this week some love! :)
