As the end of the year rolls around, I look forward to doing these and picking out a favorite for each month. It's weird in some ways; I remember working on the April piece (the "walking in space" Aoba) and loving it so much, and at the same time it feels so distant. And then I got back into drawing portraits and that was basically half the year; November was when I got that eye floater and had to work on other things instead. And I found a couple of things I'd started and then just completely forgot about, so maybe I'll finally try and pick those up again. Also, it was very tempting to have four months in a row of Allen (Malraux, Koujaku, Adam, and then I could have put the other Malraux portrait there). Barely resisted that. Anyway, that was fun to do this morning.
Saw this going around, and decided why not. Here are the nine pieces I'm most proud of from 2022.
Striiictly speaking the sixth one is actually a collaboration with @rabbitthewriter- she did the color, shading, and effects- but I'm still damn proud of that dragon even if I only sketched and lined him, so I'm counting it.
i do unironically think the best artists of our generation are posting to get 20 notes and 3 reblogs btw. that fanfic with like 45 kudos is some of the best stuff ever written. those OCs you carry around have some of the richest backstories and worldbuilding someone has ever seen. please do not think that reaching only a few people when you post means your art isn't worth celebrating.
I love the idea of kintsugi so here's a porcelain dragon that highlights the broken seams with gold. Despite all the pains of hardships in life, we are beautiful.
Just to make a point, every time I finished a panel of this I would export it as a PNG on the perceptual setting and use it as a color reference for the next panel
IT'S BAD
PLEASE CHECK YOUR COLOR SETTINGS
EDIT: If you're still having problems, it might help to switch from "Save/Save as" to "Export (as a) Single Layer". Just. Make SURE the box labeled "Expression Color" is set to RGB. I've been messing with this all day, and it looks like this combination of settings will allow exported PNGs to maintain their colors perfectly. To you. So far both Discord and Toyhouse still only display desaturated images and I cannot for the life of me figure out why
