I had the opportunity to design and illustrate unique character sprites (and UI icons, and The Logo, and the key art) for the Hat in Time Jam Mod, Hat Kid in Cinema Labyrinth! I have Some Commentary about it below.

This is also like, the debut for Team Purple, lol.

My main art style inspiration for these sprites is the little promotional chibis for Limbus Company! It was a blast trying to emulate the style while adding my own flair to it.

For the logo and the hex status effect icon, I actually tried affinity designer for iPad for the first time as I was looking for a alternative way to do vector art on iPad. and I got too lazy/busy to hop on my pc to do these icons and the logo

As for the poster, it's definitely based on Persona Q2's cover art mixed with Old movie posters (but specifically the one for Yötön Yö in Alan Wake 2, because of course it is)

Welcome to the Cinema Labyrinth!

Hat Kid, Bow Kid and Mustache Girl get magically transported through their TV into a mysterious world filled with forking pathways and dangerous demons! Their abductor? A mysterious fellow space kid named Sua Met!

According to Sua, there's a great treasure hidden at the end of the labyrinth guarded by a strong monster. But look at Hat Kid and Co! They've been granted special powers to combat the demons. Don't they look cool or what? Will they be able to fight their way to the end and claim the treasure? Only one way to find out!

A short turn based RPG mod inspired by "Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth" and "Persona 5". Use a variety of damaging skills, along with helpful buffs, and healing! Combines your skills with three party members! Defeat the demons to progress deeper into the labyrinth, and defeat the boss at the end!

This mod was created for the 2023/24 "Cinema" themed modding jam.

love how rhythm-based levels in games are almost universally bangers, in both music and mechanics

the cassette screens in celeste genuinely bop, all of their music is great and the switching block gimmick is executed well

paint from strawberry jam is a great evolution of the ideas from celeste, with things like literal moving cassette tapes and killer paint brushes, not to mention one of my favorite tracks in the mod

beep block skyway from super mario 3d world has a banger track and the switching blocks are pulled off well, a very good mechanic for the mario franchise

rhythm jump studio from a hat in time has music that's constantly stuck in my head and pulls off the switching block gimmick quite well. also, props to the creator for having their level officially added to the game in the seal the deal dlc

Trigun character designs in Kekkai Sensen - mini meta

I keep telling myself I want to do some Beat 3 Peat meta but haven't really been in the mood. I'm quite curious where this third season is going but I don't want to get into hyper detailed analyses like I did with GK on a weekly basis b/c that was burnout inducing. But the most recent chapter Saving Steven Starphase was very much my jam. Steven, Chain, K.K. heavy and finally the appearance of Daniel as well. Though I have some feelings about the Chain crush on Steven but that is for another meta another time. I'm still going on my initial reaction but I was immediately really interested in the Beyondian eco-terrorist chaotic bisexual Birgit.

Her style is so good. The thigh high black boots, two-tone dress and the typical style we'd expect. Birgit has amazing mod/retro style and I felt like she was familiar.

When she approaches Chain to thank her awkwardly for saving her life, she is wearing another mod/1960s style outfit. A coat, mittens and pillbox hat.

And then my brain went 'waaaaiiiiii - pillbox hat. Duh.

Birgit's character design is taken from Trigun. Specifically, Elendira.

All of Elendira's outfits are that mix of retro (1960s) and mod. Their long light colored hair has a similar length and flow.

In this chapter alone, it shows that Birgit is passionate and has a jealous side. Elendira was also jealous of Legato, fighting with him over Knives attention. The fact that Birgit was 1.) saved by Chain 2.) thanked her 3.) has a huge crush on her makes me think that we might be seeing more of her. The possibilities to use any of the points can definitely add to future chapters. There is also the possibility that maybe she's changed her approach to things. Taking the time to show her thanking Chain is interesting storytelling and does remind me that even though Elendira was the toughest of the Gung-ho Guns she did occupy a unique perspective on Knives' side of things.

It is also interesting that the name Birgit (which I assumed was Bridget spelled oddly, and technically it is but the Scandinavian version of it). Apparently, the name means; exulted one, saver, rescuer and she was the one who was 'saved' in addition to the chapter title of Saving Steven Starphase.

Hello, this is a really cool blog you mods are running. I wanted to ask this question; do you have any headcanons involving the dog people of Paldea. Arven is 900% a dog person and already got a few headcanons revolving his Mabosstiff, but if possible, could you provide a couple headcanons involving the other dog people and their dog pokemon (which include Nemona - Lycanroc , Ryme - Houndstone, Tyme - Lycanrocs, Clavell -Houndoom, Giacomo - Mabosstiff, Mela - Arcanine & Houndoom, Ortega - Dachsbun, Eri - Lucario, etc.) Sorry for the long post and thanks if you answer!

Nemona: - She caught Lycanroc as part of her new team. Lycanroc hits hard and fast and mostly acts as her hazard setter or revenge killer. Bitches love stealth rocks - Off the field, they often exercise together! Lycanroc LOVES to run. Nemona has a chronic illness and can't jog, but she does bike or ride a Cyclizar while Lycanroc runs alongside her. They love to race around Mesagoza together - They have the same personality

Ryme: - She is the biggest dog person in Paldea, she loved her puppy so much she rapped it back to life. No one is doing it like her really and truly. When she raps about love? She's talking about the dog - She hosts an adoption fair in Montenevera every year. It's a musical festival centered around getting strays adopted and it's had RESOUNDING success so far - Ryme's semi supernatural powers are actually related to her Houndstone-- she spent so much time along it and all the other soul draining ghost types that she built a resistance to their effects. Now she can (and does) play with entire packs of ghost puppies! And sneak them too many treats

Tyme: - All her pokemon are named after numerical prefixes (kilo, giga, nano, etc). Her Midnight and Midday Lycanroc are named Deca and Deci respectively - She spoils her puppies rotten just like her sister, always sneaking them table scraps and letting them run around in the schoolyard while she's teaching classes - Deca and Deci are bargaining chips to get kids to come to extra help. Who doesn't want to snuggle with two cute dogs while you go over math problems?

Clavell: - When he was a teenager, he used to work for the Pokemon Daycare. (I saw a whole hc where he was a delinquent and got sent to the daycare as part of detention and honestly? Canon in my heart). He found his Houndoom there as a Houndour-- it had been abandoned and adopting it taught Clavell a lot about nurturing others. It's what inspired him to eventually be a school director! - Clavell and his Houndoom are always locked in a constant battle, since Clavell likes to garden and Houndoom likes to dig. For the record, Houndoom is winning - Clavell no longer has his pompadour, seeing as Houndoom took matters into his own paws and lit the wig on fire

Giacomo: - He taught his Mabosstiff, Beethoven, to DJ. He's not good at it by virtue of being a dog but the gimmick is very funny - Beethoven has a tendency to nod its head back and forth, so during concerts, Giacomo will get him little earplugs, a hat, and some shades so he can jam with the crowd. Plus he likes the vibes of the raves - He's the vaccuum cleaner for all the crumbs or snacks Giacomo happens to leave lying about. It's a win-win

Mela: - All her puppies are from the academy itself. She just happens to bond well with those pokemon and uses them on her team despite them not technically belonging to her - The Pokemon world has an ultimate frisbee esque game that involves running with your partner pokemon-- Mela and the dogs are the academy champs. They're unbeatable - Don't tell anyone, but Mela really likes styling their fur

Ortega: - That dog is a purebred (purebread?) and definitely cost like 10k. This dog is worth more than most people's kidneys - Daschbun is a total brat and has very specific diet requests. He can, will, and does pick the carrots out of his food mix and spit them out. God forbid Ortega tries to give him dry food? Oh there is hell to pay - Both Ortega and Daschbun are drama queens. Daschbun is a lapdog and knows it and will sit there haughtily. They're having too much fun

Hello Tumblr! I'm new here, and wanted to introduce myself.

My name's Jasmine, AKA Jazzrabbit. I'm currently exploring new social media sites, and wanted to try out tumblr, since that's where a lot of my friends were going. So I thought it might be fun to introduce myself, and share some of the things I've worked on.

I'm a trans game engineer and modder interested in solving cool engineering problems and making cool stuff. I don't know how much I'll post, but if I do, I'll probably talk about game development, games, and modding. Here's some of the things I'm currently working on and some things I have worked on previously.

I am currently working as a Jr. Game Engineer at Monomi Park, where I'm helping develop the Early Access game, Slime Rancher 2. I only joined a few months ago, but I've already contributed dozens of bug fixes, and have started developing several new features as well. A Hat in Time: Vanessa's Curse

Previously, I worked as the lead engineer on Vanessa's Curse, which was the first official Creator DLC for the 3D indie platformer, A Hat in Time. I built most of the online gameplay on top of the game's existing online systems, and I coded a lot of the UIs and other gameplay systems as well. I've posted my current Title Screen Mod for March 2024's A Hat in Time Mod Jam. it's just my best effort on this simple title screen, nothing special.

Alright, lets get it out of the way: This year did not pan out well for me, but it has been an eye opening experience with how why I create things

I kinda just wanna do whatever I want? AI be damned otherwise, we artists can bend it to make something better than it can do alone otherwise, art requires human input either way.

Level Designer for ???

YEAH, I’m still on board with the team I’m in with making a game! It’s still gonna be awhile until you get to see what I’ve been doing. Hope that something new involving the game will come out soon!

A Hat in Time: The BIG Project

I can’t stay away from this game, man. Upon participating in the newest Mod Jam, I got that fire back and I’m pumped to resume work on the Big Thing involving Hat in Time. Unsure if I’ll show anything off next year, but who knows.

Hand Clans: Scene Alpha for S&Box

This lil side project known as Hand Clans v0.1 alpha got murked during the main game; S&Box, updating how games would work for it. Long story, but I’m planning on refurbishing the game for the new Scene system along with the planned update I was making for it. I hope to get this done next year the most, it’s my baby!

I dunno about this one, but I do want to make more art, but not on a time basis. There’s also the whole posting on so many different social medias at the same time, and quite frankly it’s annoying. I think I’ll come with a compromise for the other socials…

I’ll post on Newgrounds first, then Tumblr + Cohost later when I get to it.

I wanna represent Newgrounds more, it’s so cool that it is still going to this day, and I hope one little bit at a time I help out over there. Maybe I’ll get into events on that site this year? I dunno, I dunno…

I’m sorry about choosing NG over Tumblr with the exclusive treatment, it’s just been my place to check in with artists and the new art project system has been working very well. Give it a chance if you haven’t already! Art will still appear here but I prefer if you check it out on Newgrounds :p

The Sims 4 Horse Ranch confirms release date, and I’m shouting yee-haw

Now that The Sims 4's next expansion pack has been made public, I'm eager to explore the new paths it will take me. Although EA won't be using horses in The Sims for the first time, Horse Ranch appears to be the best one yet. The Sims 4 is delivering a variety of new western-themed features with the next expansion, from equestrian sports to entirely new farm animals. Horse Ranch is jam-packed with often asked-for content. The first and most obvious addition coming with Horse Ranch is, well… horses. Not only are we getting horses though, but we are getting a variety of equestrian events like dressage and jumping for our Sims to partake in. Considering the strong cowboy vibes shown in the trailer, rodeos are also likely to come with Horse Ranch. Aside from riding-related sports, Sims will be able to breed and care for their horses, raise their foals, and watch the magical beasts interact with other animals. You read that right, other animals are also coming with the expansion. Goats and sheep are making their way to your Sims’ farms, adding more life to the already existing animals from the Cottage Living pack. Horses, goats, and sheep have all been highly requested by Simmers since the aforementioned expansion’s release, especially due to other animals like chickens and cows having been included. Horse Ranch’s reveal trailer showed the new animals off in every mood, from adorably angry baby sheep stomping their hooves to wild horses rejecting Sims’ training efforts. It feels like a cowboy-inspired Wild West pack through and through, as all the Sims shown in the teaser are wearing the iconic western hats and boots.
