Wang Chuan Feng Hua Lu (忘川风华录) Masterpost

Wang Chuan Feng Hua Lu (忘川风华录) is a Vocal synth (Vocaloid and SynthV) music project. It consists of songs themed around different figures throughout Chinese history. The project is a collaboration between different artists and creatives, with music and videos featuring prominent traditional Chinese elements. The project's title translates to "The Records of Magnificence of the Wangchuan" - In Chinese mythology, "Wangchuan" (or River of Forgetting) is a river in the Underworld that can rid one of their past life's memories, similar to the river Lethe.

A mobile game adaptation has also been developed by NetEast. Unfortunately, I haven't played it so I can't give much insight on it. However, I assume that its premise is similar to that of the idea behind the project as a whole: all these historical figures meeting each other in the Underworld after they died. Maybe.

Drama Name: Under the Power | Bajo el Poder

Resumen: Al acercarse el final del reinado del emperador Jiajing de la dinastía Ming, los problemas llegan al palacio. Ciertos fondos que habían sido reservados para las reparaciones del río en Yangzhou, han desaparecido. Designado por el emperador para investigar el incidente, Lu Yi (Allen Ren), de los Jing Yi Wei, está determinado a encontrar a los responsables y llevarlos ante la justicia. Yuan Jin Xia (Tan Song Yun), una talentosa detective de la policía secreta, resulta ser una opción obvia para ayudar a Lu Yi en el caso. Fiction Recommendation 14

September 5th is Zhong Yuan Jie (Ghost Day) in many parts of Asia and October 31st is the Western Halloween, I thought I’d dedicated this round of fiction recommendation to some of the supernatural and mysterious unique to Chinese (and other Asian) cultures. The comment section will contain a short synopsis of the novels, along with some of my own thoughts about the story.

1. Daomu Biji 盗墓笔记 by Kennedy Xu

Genre: Mystery, adventure, horror, suspense

Comment: Anyone following my blog knows I am a huge fan of Daomu. Along with Ghost Blows Out Light, both works were considered the pioneering novels that opened the tomb-raiding literature market in China. Daomu is told from a first-person perspective, detailing the adventures of Wu Xie as he visited tomb after tomb to unveil the mysteries that surround him, including that of his close friends and the role he played in the whole scheme of things. This is a highly suspenseful story spanning nine published books with two published sequels - Zang Hai Hua and Sha Hai. One of the highlights of the book is the first person narrative, which allows us to relate and engage with the protagonist, while collecting clues and solving mysteries with the character.

2. XiongZhai Biji 凶宅笔记 by 贰十三

Genre: Mystery, horror, supernatural

Comment: Xiongzhai - a term applied to haunted houses with past history(ies) of death - are usually sold at very low market price. But where there’s money, there’s business. Jiang Shuo and his friend Qin YiHeng decided to buy these houses cheaply, exorcised then, then resold it at much higher market prices. The two friends work through a series of haunted houses, until Jiang Shuo started to suspect that there’s someone purposefully drawing him to different haunted houses. Also narrated through first-person, XiongZhai Biji explores an interesting ‘market’ and who knows, you might find a haunted house one day.

3. 海岭荒城 by 罪化/王十一

Genre: BL, supernatural, horror *R18

Comment: Considered one of the classic BL horror stories out there -All reporter Tao wanted to do was interview CEO Ling and enter a contest with said interview. Instead, he was directed to a city designed specifically for movie sets. Granted, the city was a property of the Ling company...When Tao arrived, the city seemed abandoned. There are few, if any, tourists in that area except for a group of hired performers. CEO Ling Li thought that reporter Tao would fare no better than previous reporters, but to his surprise, Tao stayed within the city for more than one night and uncovered a series of mysteries related to the occult. Although plot-wise and character-wise the story is mediocre, but it contains very vivid descriptions of horrific scenes that send chills down my back.

4. 都市探幽录 by 罪化/王十一

Genre: Mystery, supernatural

Comment: Another series of novel by ZuiHua. Reporter Xia Han and intern Fu Wei were invited to XiangXi Province to experience a river-rafting tour. What was definitely not included in the tour are a line of zombies passing by in the dead of night, a huge snake within the waters and red water bubbling within the last stall of the girl’s toilet...thank goodness Reporter Xia and his intern are familiar to these sightings, seeing as they publish their stories in a special newspaper called the ‘Occult Weekly’. There are four books and each book is a different short story, though interlinked loosely with one another. This title is the opposite of recommendation #3, it has a stronger plot and character setting, but contains less scare factors.

5. 哇！今夜哪裡有鬼！by 黯然銷魂蛋

Genre: BL, supernatural/horror, humor *R15

Comment: He BiXue is a paranormal reality TV show producer, who happens to also have a tendency to attract the dead unwittingly. Enters Yin Jian, who is a Taoist the studio invited to help deal with the ghosts. From a girlfriend who got severed in half, to being trapped within dreams, to an ancient princess that came back to life, it seems that this reality TV show is definitely ‘cursed’. This story has an interesting setting and is relatable especially for those who watch Taiwanese reality shows. My critique is that it feels like the author hasn't got a strong grip on the characters' personalities, which changes quite frequently throughout the book.

6. 天師執位Ⅰ by 樊落

Genre: BL, supernatural, *R15

Comment: Nie XiFeng's first impression of Zhang Xuan is as bad as bad can be. After almost dying as a result of listening to the words of a con man posing as a taoist, he swore to never trust another taoist again. In comes Zhang Xuan, who works in his company, but also works a self-acclaimed taoist. Together they solved the mysteries around them -- albeit while fighting with each other -- and just when Nie XiFeng fell in love with Zhang Xuan, he learned that the latter might have some hidden agenda. There are several books in this series, each focusing on a different mystery that involves the supernatural. Plot-wise it can seem to drag a bit in some parts, but overall it’s not bad, plus the ending is surprising.

7. 見鬼鮮花店 by 雲過是非 Genre: BL, supernatural, humor *R15

Comment: In this day and age, the Western and Oriental supernatural beings have developed friendly ties. Unfortunately, just as prices are increasing in the living world, the prices of items in hell are skyrocketing, especially with less and less people being superstitious these days. The supernaturals have no choice but to walk the modern route and purchase things online. Shu Jiu is a flower shop owner who repeatedly received requests from strange customers. What’s more, he learned that there are four ghosts inside his shop. Really humorous story with cute characters. It's a bit sad though that the ending was very rushed (basically the author spent over 40 chapters to develop a mystery and everything got solved in one ._.) But still, a really nice read.

8. 陰書 by 夜半來敲鍾 Genre: Horror, supernatural, BL **R18

Comment: A group of teenagers in love with all things supernatural decided to visit a haunted house to explore, unwittingly finding a shredded corpse. Ever since then, one by one the teenagers disappeared, who would be next? And how do they break the cycle? I thought that out of all the horror stories, this author’s works are definitely more bone-chilling than the others.

9. 校園七怪談 by 夜半來敲鍾

Genre: Horror, supernatural, BL

Comment: Lin Feng recently transferred to a new school. Ever since he transferred, strange happenings abound. The soft sigh in the middle of the night, the footsteps outside the room door, his roommate's haunted looks...When will things end? This story builds on the popular concept of ‘seven strange happenings’ in Asian schools - the strange happenings often refer to unexplained phenomenons that are experienced by multiple students.

10. 小镇 by dnax

Genre: BL, adventure, suspense

Comment: Fu En accidentally entered a town in which no one leaves. Here, townsfolk are happy and everyone had their own supernatural powers...except there's a price to using the powers and people aren't as content as they seem. He quickly discovers the loopholes in the 'rules' of the town, along with the twisted mindset of some of the inhabitants. A really bizarre story, but highly suspenseful and really image-evoking.

11. 解忧杂货店 by 东野圭吾

Genre: Supernatural, comfort

Comment: All the worries and troubles, let this shop help you resolve them. There is a small shop by a corner of the roadside, as long as you write down your worries and place it within its letterbox, you will get an answer in the milkbox located behind the store on the second day. A series of worries, with prophetic-like answers. Very heart-warming and touching.

12. 我準是在地獄 by YY的劣迹

Genre: Mystery, **R (rated for murder and violence)

Comment: Ning Xiao is just like any other murder mystery author. One night he was mugged but when he found the police at his door next day accusing him for the murder of the mugger, things took a twist. Consecutive murders that follow the plot of his stories, repressed memories and a police with a suspicious background, just who is behind all of these murders? A rabid fan? Ning Xiao’s split personality? Or perhaps the ‘police’...? Even though the story was marked as BL by others, I really think that there's no romantic relationship between the two protagonists - most of the story is focused on the murder mystery plotline.

13. 谋杀官员1：逻辑王子的演绎 by 紫金陈

Genre: Mystery

Comment: Graduated from Ze Da University's math department, Xu Ce is also known as the prince of logic. Later he won a scholarship to support a PhD study in psychology. However, upon hearing his mother's death, he returned to China. On the other hand, his friend - Gao Dong - also known for his specialty in crimonology, encountered numerous murder cases of government officers. Could Gao Dong resolved these cases? And what does it have to do with Xu Ce?

14. 推理之王·坏小孩 by 紫金陈

Genre: Mystery

Comment: Four years into their marriage, Xujing had an affair and wanted a divorce. Her husband, Zhang DongShen realized that he would be left with nothing should the divorce occur, and there is only one way out. On the pretense of taking her parents out for a trip, he plotted a murder. Everything should have been perfect. Except that three children became witnesses to the murder, and they are anything but innocent.

15. 推理之王·无证之罪 by 紫金陈

Genre: Mystery

Comment: What if someone claims that he conducted murders to save another person, would you believe their intention? Behind the crimes lie a heart filled with anger and love. A high-class murderer versus a math teacher, both of which are equally skilled, who would win in this chase?

16. 都市夜歸人 by 朱砂

Genre; Mystery, supernatural, BL **R18

Comment: As a sniper, Chen Gu knew his eyesight is superb, just not to the extent that he can see the supernaturals...But how is it that he hadn't notice this strange phenomenon before? Of course, without a certain Mr. Zhong's mentioning, he wouldn't have noticed the strange things around him either. Case after case of supernatural phenomenon appeared, and it is up to the duo to resolve them. However things are more complicated than they expected, - there's still an avenging ghost-human out there trying to revive his dead wife by breaking all the Taoist rules that one can phantom. The author has quite an extensive knowledge of different mythologies and legends. I recommend reading the actual text first before reading the prequel (the prequel was rather dark and slow-paced. Honestly I couldn’t finished it).

I’m in Love with Lost Love in Times

I’ve been trying to find a really good C-drama since Scarlet Heart with the right blend of fantasy/history, heartache, and story, and I think I’ve found it in Lost Love in Times. It is, without a doubt, the most engaged I’ve been with a C-drama in a long time - let’s hope it continues to be that way.

Mild spoilers ahead.

Story

Qing Chen is a Mage, a magic user sworn to protect the Wei State. Yuan Ling is the 4th prince, a general meant to bring peace to his people. After being saved by Qing Chen, Yuan Ling takes over the throne and is determined to marry her. However, nothing good can come between the union of the Grand Sorceress and the Emperor. When Yuan Zhan, the 7th prince, throws a coup on the couple’s wedding, Qing Chen is forced to cast a spell to reset the world, where she will make things right and swear to not be the cause for her love’s downfall.

Comments: The first five episodes go by so fast that if you blink you might miss it. But once we get to the altered timeline where the meat of the story is, it keeps going at a brisk, refreshing pace. Conflicts arise and get solved within the next episode or two but there are always consequences so it never feels like things just happen for no reason. Honestly, it’s been a while since I’ve watched a drama where there is a logical progression of story where events scaffold on one another, where the big event everything leads to actually meets and exceeds my expectations. I really hope for this pacing and story to continue as it has because it’s great so far.

Characters

Qing Chen (Cecilia Liu) is a wonderful mix of intelligent, cunning, and proactive. She initiates a lot of her interactions with the other characters and is always doing something to move the story forward in a transparent way. For example, when she is investigating a brothel that’s a cover-up for a cult of Dark/Black Mages, she goes to ask Yuan Ling for advice because he had looked into them before. There is no time for any shenanigans here, no “I can’t tell him I’m doing this thing because I’m a noble idiot” that so many other dramas do. I love it.

Yuan Ling (William Chan) is aloof, serious, and confident. Like Qing Chen, he’s very proactive in the story and doesn’t bother trying to play games. It also helps that he acknowledges the females around him as equals in intelligence and physical strength. When the other mages (who are female) help him during an ambush, he doesn’t brush them off but kindly says thanks and that’s that. No need to act macho or anything.

Yuan Zhan (Xu Hai Qiao) is calm, refined, and loves music and flowers. At first, he’s not into politics and wants to stay out of it. But when his mother kills his brother to frame Yuan Ling, he goes straight into action and is shown to have a strong sense of morality. He’s a nice foil to Yuan Ling as an intellectual and more emotional partner to Qing Chen.

The whole cast of characters are well put together. It helps that each one feels like they have lives outside the main story and are shown to be just as competent as the main trio. The villains' plans are thought out and their motives aren’t just petty things. The other supporting characters have just enough screen time to showcase their abilities and honestly do a lot for the main story.

And FOR ONCE, there isn’t an evil, jealous girl who’s out to get our heroine or do stupid things to get our heroes’ attention. Like, thank you.

Technical Stuff

The costumes are well put together except for a few choices of head pieces. Lots of flowing sleeves and soft fabrics, which is my type of thing. I couldn’t be happier.

Cinematography is done well here, as well as integration of CGI. When we’re in a more fantastical setting, you can tell, but it’s not so much in your face. Also, no CGI talking animals so far, so everything’s alright with me. There is a little too much sparkle for me, but that’s more of a personal preference.

Stunt work is done well and integrates the magic nicely when we need it. There are a few nonsense hand motions that I find cheesy, but nothing that takes away from the story.

Overall, I like the way the drama looks. It adds more to the story than it takes away.

Ramblings - Female Characters and Complex, Mutual Relationships

I love how equal men and women are in Lost Love’s universe. The Mages, for the most part, are all female and are treated with just as much respect as the trained warriors (because that’s what they are). The relationships we see between men and women are generally mutual and based on admiration and acknowledgment of the other’s strengths. Even when relationships aren’t mutual, there’s a common understanding of why. This makes for more interesting conflicts down the road and more complex relationships.

The first couple we actually see on screen is Xi Xie and Tao Yao, two top-ranking Mages. The former is Qing Chen’s mentor and father figure. The latter is her senior and mother figure. They’re clearly a couple, but never act on it because of their devotion to the Wei and the Mages. They both understand where the other is coming from and would do anything to protect what the other wants. At the same time, they aren’t completely dependent on the other. Tao Yao is competent in her own right and is shown coming up with her own strategies and fending for herself quite well. In the altered timeline, Xi Xie is missing but that doesn’t stop Tao Yao from protecting the other Mages by basically building an underground city. She loves Xi Xie, sure, but isn’t going to let that stop her from defending her sisters.

Another great female character is Princess Duo Xia of the neighboring A-Chai tribe. She is first shown on screen commanding her own small army to free the captured Mages so they can help her people. Later, she fights Yuan Ling and is bested by him. It is then that she decides she wants to marry him, but she explains that her reasons aren’t just that he beat her in martial arts or that he’s handsome. She knows of his reputation as a general and thinks that that’s what the A-Chai need. She isn’t being petty or single-minded. She’s thinking of all sides of her situation and picking the best option. When she confesses later and guesses Yuan Ling loves Qing Chen, and instead of plotting to murder Qing Chen (which is soooo refreshing for a second female lead in these kinds of dramas), she acknowledges Yuan Ling’s feelings for another and doesn’t try to push the issue. Then she challenges Qing Chen because she KNOWS Qing Chen loves Yuan Ling but won’t act on it. There is a mutual understanding of feelings, and that makes Duo Xia’s relationship to both so much more fun to watch.

Honestly, I can go on and on, but I’m gonna stop there because I think you get my point.

Conclusion and Recommendations

Because of the great characters, interesting story, and visuals, I’m gonna stick with this drama. It’s the only one so far that’s managed not to play into too many annoying cliches and stands out from the plethora of historical, fantasy romance I’ve seen so far.

If you’re also looking for a C-drama with smart characters, a faster pace story, and beautiful visuals, this is one to watch. Just hold out through the first five episodes and I swear it’ll be worth it.

La mitología china.

China es de esas naciones con una gran personalidad en su historia. Caos y quietud reinan este mundo ubicado en el extremo Oriente.

En el pasado mítico, a diferencia de otras mitologías, China no narra la creación del mundo sino la creación de su imperio. El mundo ya es, es una afirmación que deviene de una concepción orgánica: todo ser y cosa contiene en su interior los diez mil seres, el Tao. A diferencia de los Indios, quienes generaron una extensa cosmogonía y presumieron de sus facultades imaginativas y creativas.

Vemos un apartado llamado “El período de los primeros hombres” aquí hay eventos relacionados a la cosmogonía del chamanismo, bíblica y sumeria. Comienza con los hombres pájaro, quienes vivían en lo alto de los árboles. Después los señores manipuladores del fuego, quienes enseñaron a los demás a cocer sus alimentos y al final el último subtítulo, “El diluvio de Gong Gong”, las aguas ocuparon siete décimas partes de la tierra y el monarca, (ya desde aquí existía la civilización) se valió de lo que tenía a su disposición para mantener a su reinado. Aquí encontramos un punto muy importante en la visión de la función del hombre en la tierra donde la virtud consiste en respetar las condiciones naturales, respetarlas y aprovecharlas.

Posteriormente, el Shujing (Clásico o Libro de la Historia) comienza con la edad dorada de los Diez Grandes que culminó con Yao, Shun y Yu el Grande.

No quiero meter a todos los diez grandes porque es una chambota y de todos modos los tengo bien documentados en mi libro, así que me voy a detener a aquellos que presenten puntos importantes en la mitología china. Primero, podemos destacar al cuarto rey, Huangdi el Emperador Amarillo se le atribuye la invención en el uso correcto del fuego, quemó los bosques para inventar el ganado, conquistó a los bárbaros y ascendió al cielo en un carro de marfil tirado por dragones y espíritus le acompañaban en la travesía.

Después de leer esto parece que vemos las acciones de un Dios antes que de un humano. China tiene una fuerte posición política respecto al mundo y se denota aquí cuando se menciona que Huangdi fue capaz de conquistar a los bárbaros, esto es que fuera de los límites chinos solo hay barbaros que necesitan ser controlados (me recuerda a la guerra de las cruzadas y el Asalta del Islam en India).

El número 6, Zhuanxu denominado también Gaoyang se le reconoce por tener dos reinas quiénes concibieron virginalmente a los herederos de los próximos tronos, uno de ellos fundador de la dinastía Shang.

El número ocho, Di Yao, el divino Yao, es el modelo de los sabios de todos los tiempos, sin embargo en su reinado hubo un desorden catastrófico en inundaciones los cuales no pudieron ser solucionados por ningún experto, aquí Shun entra a escena y resuelve el tema de las inundaciones, enseña a las personas a pescar, también hizo cerámica y enseñó a cultivar la tierra, todo con la ayuda de los Dioses, quienes lo recompensaron por haber actuado en pro de la naturaleza.

Shun poco después se hizo monarca y como reconocimiento de su mérito,, en su travesía a tierras extrañas se quedó cojo. Aquí hay un tema interesante que expone Campbell, ya que el tema del héroe o sacerdote, porque también a Noé le sucedió lo mismo a causa de un zarpazo de León, que se queda cojo en su travesía apunta al símbolo del Rey Luna, aparentemente es una relación entre ambos astros la luna y el sol, el sol ataca a la luna en su posición en luna llena y posteriormente mengua en sus diferentes fases.

El diluvio en Sumeria es un evento matemático cósmico chingón imposible de evadir, en la Biblia es el resultado de la furia de un Dios quién pone la fe en los más puros de los humanos, y al final en China, el diluvio es un simple desastre geográfico que es resuelto por Sun, el Gran Shun, el gran héroe. En la historia después del diluvio hay un claro simbolismo de un renacimiento, el Gran Renacimiento de una Nación.

Dinastía Xia sucesión a la Shang, donde en la última a diferencia de la primera, gobernó un monarca amable y sabio quién sacrificó su cuerpo por que cayera lluvia en una terrible sequía. En la travesía de la sucesión de la primera dinastía a la siguiente está la presencia de un elemento vegetativo.

Hay una sección de poemas en el Shijing que festejan al señor Tang, monarca de la dinastía Shang, donde se festeja la amabilidad del Gran Señor, agradecen las cosechas y piden longevidad a sus cuerpos. Hay música y comunión con los espíritus. Se hace culto a los antepasados, la dirección de los ritos y los reyes, descendientes de los antepasados. Se entiende que hay una intrínseca relación del Dios encarnándose en el Rey, aunque no puesta tal cual, como en los reyes de Mesopotamia, Sumeria y los Faraones de Egipto antes de la V dinastía.

El Shijing corresponde al pensamiento clásico Chino y es clara la preocupación por un buen régimen político, la aplicación del arte de gobernar, la buena armonía y el orden, antes que cosmogónico y creativo como en la India. En la concepción mítica China hay una relación recíproca entre el Cielo la Tierra y el Hombre y dentro de la esfera humana, el emperador era el bastión de este poder.

Esta imagen aunque este bien culera, presenta un resumen del muy muy antiguo libro Yijing, o El Libro de los Cambios. El cual presenta el aspecto macrocósmico de la cosmogonía china. Es una diversa combinación de líneas acumuladas en trigramas, donde la línea recta representa el Yang y la línea dividida representa el Ying. Cada Trigrama representa un estado en movimiento. Poseen nombre, adjetivo, movimiento, elemento y relación filial.

Los opuestos y su integración en un solo Ser es la tesis central del Oriente. La relación entre hombre y mujer también está en la India, pero se presenta exuberante, voluptuosa, hermosa y excitante a diferencia de la China, que se presenta de manera más sobria, abstracta y hasta geométrica. Campbell menciona: El Yijing es una especia de geometría de la mitología.

“Los cinco elementos en el sistema Chino son: Agua, Fuego, Madera, Metal y Tierra. La naturaleza del agua es empapar y descender, la del fuego arder y ascender, la madera ser torcida y enderezada, el metal ceder y cambiar, la tierra reside en siembra y cosecha, lo que empapa y desciende se vuelve sal, lo que arde y asciende se vuelve amargo; lo que es torcido y enderezad, agrio; lo que cede y cambia, acre; y de la siembre y la cosecha proviene la dulzura.”

¡Qué bella forma de retratar los elementos! En definitiva los chinos me caen bien. Aquí también está la presencia inmanente del Tao. A diferencia del Indio, quien dice que del Yo nace el espacio, del espacio el viento, el viento el fuego, del fuego el agua, del agua la tierra y de la tierra las hierbas y alimentos, los elementos según los Chinos tienen propiedades únicas. Se entiende que el Tao es una propiedad influenciable y en la que todo ser fluye, de ahí la cosmovisión estado hierática de China, donde el emperador, los príncipes, reinas, nobles, monjes, artistas y población deben fluir acorde al Tao.

Aunque realmente esta visión de las relaciones entre individuos nace del confusionismo, donde el principal elemento a adquirir es la sinceridad y la buena pronunciación de los nombres.

Shi Tao - Colores agrestes

Colores agrestes (野色) Album Shi Tao (石涛 1642-1707) Dinastía Qing (清 1644–1911) China

Álbum de 12 pinturas, tinta y color sobre papel, 27,6 x 21,6 cm

Comentarios del Museo MET:

A mediados de la década de 1690, luego de una vida vagando, Shi Tao se radicó permanentemente en Yangzhou, una ciudad comercial pujante en el Gran Canal que era el centro económico y cultural de China. Renunciando a sus votos monásticos y tomando el nombre de Dadizi (大涤子 el "Gran Purificado"), Shi Tao se dedicó a la pintura como su único ingreso.

En Colores de la Naturaleza, cada pintura ofrece algo inesperado, no sólo en la elección de tema y la composición sino también en el ingenio sutil y los toques de inspiracion personal revelados tanto en lo pictórico como en lo verbal. Muchas hojas fueron inspiradas en poemas de Du Fu (712-770) y Li Bai (701-762) de la dinastía Tang; otros refieren a experiencias personales. A fines del siglo XVII, un exceso de versatilidad técnica era considerado por la crítica como demasido trabajada.

1) Gansos bajo la luz de la Luna

Inscripción: "Las ocas salvajes se llevan mi tristeza, desde la boca de las montañas regresa la Luna" de Li Bai. El poema completo dice:

Con Xia subimos a la torre de Yue Yang (trad. de Guillermo Dañino) Desde la torre se ve Yueyang por completo, a lo lejos el lago Dongting se abre sobre el río. Las ocas salvajes se llevan mi tristeza, desde la boca de las montañas regresa la Luna. Las nubes rodean nuestros lechos, en el cielo circulan las copas. Ebrios, con el viento fresco que se levante, bailamos. Su soplo hace girar nuestras mangas.

2) Raiz de Taro [planta] Inscripción: "Una vez Wang Anjie [autor del manual de pintura Semilla de Mostaza] me presentó un poema que dice 'Consigue agua del arroyo en tu copa de cobre y cocina un poco de taro en la cocina'. Él verdaderamente me entendía ¡Qué burda y ridícula persona soy! Este año por codicia compré unas raices de taro enormes. Eran muy grandes para ser cocidas en poco tiempo por lo que las comí parcialmente crudas ¿puedes adivinar la temperatura dentro de mi estómago?"

3) Flores de durazno junto al río Inscripción "La niebla y la fragante brisa que dejan las orquídeas son cálidas, en las costas del río hay duraznos florecidos elevándose como un brocado", del poema de Li Bai "Isla de los loros"

4) Sobre la pintura del Bambú Inscripción "Hojas rotas y ramas separadas son mejor pintadas si se usa un modelo vivo. Dibuja algunas altas, otras bajas, aqui y allá, como si tuvieran sentimientos. Uno necesita observar el bambú sin compañia y beber lejos por diez años. Entonces, cuando tu pincel dibuje las raices del bambú, escucharás los silbidos de las hojas"

6) Brisa de primavera Inscripción "Brisa de primavera y suave lluvia llegan a mi ventana en mi retiro de montaña; aún ahora pinto las flores del durazno en su autendo colorido. Me río de mí mismo sabiendo que a pesar de mi vejez no aprendí a vivir los placeres, y debo entretenerme con el pincel para pasar el tiempo"

7) Choza en la naturaleza Inscripcion "El brillo del bambú rodea los colores de la naturaleza, el reflejo de una casa se ondula en el río", fragmento de un poema de Du Fu.

8) Berenjenas Inscripción "Melón púrpura, melón purpura, tienes un sabor excepcional. Dime cuánta sal y aderezo necesitas. Pero he cometido un error. Los recogí y los he comido crudos, como si fueran plantas salvajes. Espero que no broten y hagan raices dentro mío". Detrás de la frase inocente hay un mensaje político. Confucio decía "odio el púrpura por tomar el lugar del rojo". El rojo (zhu) era el nombre de la casa real de los Ming, de los que descendía Shi Tao.

9) Gansos en el lago Inscripción "Gansos salvajes vuelan en pares desde el lago, los veteranos [de guerra] vuelven de la vieja campaña del norte", poema de Du Fu.

10) Nubes bloqueadas por la montaña Inscripción "Aun cuando no hay casas aquí, las montañas bloquean las nubes", adaptación de Shi Tao de un poema de Du Fu. Otra inscripción de parte de Shi Tao.

11) Reflejos del atardecer en el Pabellón Inscripción "El agua está calma, el reflejo del pabellón se ve claramente. La montaña en el atardecer, el Sol desaparece en la frontera", poema de Du Fu.
