Dark Angel Reaction: Red
Jezebel (@typicalopposite) reacts [with occasional asides by Wench (@scripted-downfall)]
NO MONOLOGUE 😱😱😱
[“We stole that power first!  It’s ours!”  So she was ranting about this in s1 even before she was ranting about this (re. Alec) in s2, I see]
*sigh* so bitchy. So hot. S’not fair
I’ll live in an abandoned building for that tub  *sigh*
Togan! 😁
How did you know that?  Some good ears  [The water was splashing pretty loudly tbf]  True ☠️
[Max prioritizing herself over the greater good again]  Does she ever not tho?  [True!  Also, it might be fine if she didn't then act like she was some paragon of virtue later]
Must be so dehumanizing for these poor men to be lifted like a rag doll by her
Sorry but.  Buddy there was no blood.  You’re just stupid
["I thought you were dead"  Damn, this is the episode catchphrase, apparently alkdsjf]  ☠️☠️☠️
[OH IT'S THIS ONE!  Get ready to be annoyed]
“Coulda been worse.”  ☠️☠️☠️
“Here’s some spending money” ☠️☠️☠️ *sigh* Must be nice.  She should respect the shit out of him
THEY GONNA HOOK UP!?!
Look here bitchy man
How boujie of him
Oh she kinky
BOUJIE
🥺🥺🥺
Money! 🤣🤣  Yeeep it’ll get you anything
Speaking of off the record… How’d you get this tape
Budddy that’s not healthyyyy!  Stop watching yourself get shot
Nooooo Wot Is Happening How Even Did He get them in there  [Magic]
MEN 😤  [Ma'am, you're married… I remind you that you got yourself hitched to one of them]  He’s different (most days) ☠️  He’s the exception.  But he still has his “men” moments
[OH MY GOD THERE WAS ONLY ONE BED]  ☠️☠️☠️☠️  The one time it’s very much not welcome  [Enemies to friends to lovers?]  Does that happen?!  [No aslkdfj]
“It’s all coming back to me now”...  I got my ass kicked by a lady
[btw, her mission security is shit here]
This scene is giving me whiplash
Oh he has escapéd  [laksdjflkajfd the accent is stunning]  ☠️
Did she not think this would happen???? Dumbo.  [Like I said, mission security sucks]  ☠️☠️
[Okay, but her dealing with the guy extorting the working girls was, grudgingly, great]
You know when you got these scenarios where the persons life is in danger but they are stupid?  [All too well]  And keep running away?  I don’t even feel bad when they ultimately get got
*sigh* she's showing off her Manticore stuff without call for it again  ☠️☠️
“My wife” ☠️☠️
Buddy I’m sorry, but you do not have the right lifestyle to be reproducing  [You're not wrong]
Cliche bad guy: has a kid so isn’t “so” bad 🙂🙃
Is he lying?  I feel like he’s lying.  And she’s just stupid.  (Cause she gave the ol soft smile awww he’s a good dad face: Women… we got our flaws too)  [I?  Don't think so?  I think that was genuine]
– – –
Okay… Midpoint *sigh* imma lil rusty.  BUT.  This fecking man (Bruno) is annoying af!  *sigh*  Like, Max is annoying.  Logan is annoying sometimes.  Hell, they all have their moments.  But this man… Like, buddy is such a good father he HAS to call his daughter every night.. but can’t take the fact people are trying to kill him serious enough to stay put!?!  And in all honesty I don’t have too much more. Other than Logan ridiculously torturing himself with reasons he hates the guy he wants max to save ☠️ nothing else has happened til now
– – –
[I maintain that Normal wears makeup]  ☠️☠️☠️  I believe it
I LOVE HER! And him!  [This watchthrough, I'm loving both Normal and OC even more than I did last time]
“Dumbo”  [Look, is you!]  Shush
WHY WOULD YOU GO SEE YOUR KID YOU IDIOTTTTTTTT?!?!?!?!  LIKE?!?!?!?!
[Okay but that "yahoo" was adorable]  I know but still  [Shush]
Seeeeeeee  [Shush.  The yahoo was cute]  And the gunman took a giant shit on the cuteness ☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️
Buh-ruh  [OH SHIT THEM Rightttttt I remember this]
Ooooh ok fire knife makes sense now
Who is this guy?  [idk but I remember liking him]  Did I miss him coming up  [Nah, I don't think we know him]  Oh 🤣 He just randomly popped up.  I was like….. who are you!?
Oooof I got caught up in the story 🤣🤣🤣 but how cliche: a bomb threat
Oh
Double-cross!  Evil!  Man!  [Did I mention she's kinda dumb for stupidly flaunting her powers... this is why. People. Notice.]  Yep
Welp if he dies… Won’t feel too bad (again)
[Hubris being her flaw again]
Nope not a lick of remorse… Ya deserved it buddy  [This is fair, but the kid didn't]  That’s true and that part sucks. But he could have got her killed getting what he wanted (to see her one more time) so imo she’s better off
Aaaaaack
[Another instance of Max being allowed to verbally express pain/discomfort while she didn't allow Alec the same season 2 courtesy... not that I'm bitter or anything]  So what I’m hearing is alec becomes her (just better) she becomes zach and zach becomes the terminator  [... That-  Yeah, that's a pretty damn good description, tbh]  ☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️
No end monologues… This ep was all kinda weird 🤣🤣🤣
– – –
Jezebel: This episode managed to piss me off in multiple ways… *sigh*  Like, this time her bitchiness was deserved ‘cause Bruno was an idiot.
Wench: WAIT THAT'S A GOOD POINT!  This is vaguely off-topic rn but!  Take her bitchiness towards Bruno… Direct it towards Dean… Don’t change anything about her bitchiness and don’t change much of Dean's character… And you have her relationship with Alec.
Jezebel: So she’s just like that all the time. But for NO reason?  *sigh*  Hoooo boy
Wench: I mean.  He's a bit trying at times, sure.  But he doesn’t deserve her shit
Jezebel: Next seasons reactions are gonna be spicy
Wench: alskdfjla;skdjf I look forward to it
Jezebel: I think that’s all for endpoint tho. Again, this episode revolved around this one story line so much the cameos of the other characters could have been left out and it wouldn’t be noticed.  They were just filler to make it longer lol
Wench: That's true.  This is fair… Til next episode then!

Wow 2022!
So much has happened I don't even know when was the last time I wrote here, I lost the habit of journaling just because, life hot busier or at least I convinced myself it did, idk where I left off but
I finished highschool still dating my best friend, we broke up cause things were slowly falling apart, she broke up with me (mutual agreement tho) I started working in McDonalds a little before that happen, there later on I got closer to a guy after bea and I broke up and eventually he became my "boyfriend" I knew it wasn't gonna last since it started, he was nothing like me and he was sexist and homophobic, and overall he was a bitch, he traumatized a view aspects in my life, my first time with a guy became an awful story, along with the second, third and however many more times happened, he made me not trust men, he hated all my friends made me isolated, he made me sick people later on were able to tell me how shocked they were to see how brainwashed and different was, he changed me, probably until this day.
He tried to put himself between me and bea and that's were I drew the line, I started to come to my senses and see what he had been doing how he had been acting and finally I broke up with him after maybe what was half a year. I joined a end group with alex and a friend of him and they really helped me heal, whenever I was having fights with him they were there and when I was needing some escapism too, when we broke up there they were, I became close to goncalo and made really good friends, alex had to go to sleep early and so me and goncalo cause we could just play alone would just hang out and play mini games, tell jokes and things were looking better.
Eventually goncalo had to go on vacations with his family and couldn't be with us all day so it became time for me and alex to hang out, we had already known each other for a couple years but never really talked, we became closer and opened up more to each other everyday, he slowly taught me how to trust again, I taught him to open up, we became fascinating about how each other's minds worked, until today I admire the way he views the world, hes a very unic soul
Yet again things got tricky he became distant, bad communication, stubbornness and eventually we started to become more and more distant, he would feel distant to me and I would do the same back unintentionally although I really tried at first to just get him back, in the middle of that I met someone else, someone that was giving me the warmth he couldn't, someone I didn't have to lead the conversations with, I met bruno and he was nice and kind and smart and I accidentally fell in love with him while I was still with Alex, he saw that coming way before me and I denied it, made things a lot worse, eventually he was right, on day hanging out with bruno we get to close, we take it too far, he didn't do anything major, I couldn't even bring myself to kiss him cause I knew what I was doing was so incredibly wrong, it was unacceptable, I eventually came to my senses and stopped it, I immediately told Alex I needed to talk, we met, I told him everything and then broke up. He didn't want us to but it was way too late.
I lost a great connection and there's nothing I regret like having done things like this, after some months I could admit to myself I actually was in love with bruno, we started dating it's almost been a year
Leads me to today, I'm the happiest I've been and that's something this account hasn't seen, today I woke up next to him cause yesterday I went to sleep in his house like I often do, we had lunch in a local restaurant we like and then went for me to make my 4th tattoo, I'm completly in love with what my body looks like today, yet again something new, I got a raise in my job, after mc I worked in continente and then and currently in Padaria Portuguesa where I now am a shift manager, were also looking to get our own apartment in the beginning of the next year I'm so excited for that :)
Life has been smiling at me and I decided that decided to be documented

Talking about Encanto - Alma
Alma Madrigal, aka Abuela, is a complicated character. I like her development and that she gets confronted about her bullshit and it gets her thinking. But wow, for a sympathetic character, I do have reservations.
Yes, I know she isn't a villain. I'll never claim she's evil. But the sheer amount of damage this woman has done is baffling, and I think she gets away easily. Not in way of consequences, because the consequence of shitty behavior can only be to stop it and to do better, but in way of how she is framed as being fully benevolent. "Oh yeah, that gaslighter that keeps preventing healthy communication within your family is ultimately well-meaning"... that's not an unambiguously unproblematic take. Let's delve into things:
Blame-shifting
Hypocrisy
Gaslighting
First, whatever goes wrong, Mirabel's to blame. Or Bruno. Mirabel didn't get a gift? She did something wrong, obviously! Bruno leaves home? That's Mirabel's fault - and also, he doesn't care about the family (I'll come back to that later). Luisa has trouble with her magic? Mirabel's fault, even if she, in Alma's view, isn't connected to the family magic at all and should logically have no way of influencing it. Isabela runs around in a look that contradicts her picture of perfect and graceful femininity, wants to explore her abilities and doesn't want to marry that guy? Horrible! Unthinkable! Mirabel's fault!
"Pedro, open my eyes" - lady, open your eyes yourself! You haven't spoken to your son in ten years and have no idea where he is or how he is or if he is still alive! A son that, might I add, even then needed your emotional support and apparently didn't get it. One of your daughters is a nervous bundle of anxiety! One of your granddaughters serves as your freaking scapegoat for everything that goes wrong, another is on the verge of a breakdown because you're endorsing the entire town to think of her as a house slave! And your favorite, your precious Isabela you spend so much time cooing over? Seems you never asked her if she even wants to marry this guy, or marry at all, and she's miserable! And that's only speaking of Julieta's kids because Pepa's kids are out of focus, so I don't know how Alma's upbringing might have wrecked them. Although I imagine that's not far-off, what with Antonio getting an amazing gift and Alma's first thought is to put him to work. He is FIVE! For years, that woman is completely incapable of reflecting on her own actions - or of taking responsibility for anything that happens, seeing as she puts initiative on her dead husband's soul. Which is not great for a family matriarch and town's leader. Or for an adult, for that matter.
Second, the hypocrisy. Remember when in her argument with Mirabel she was like, "Bruno left because of you!" and then two seconds later, she said, "Bruno didn't care about this family!" So, which is it? Five-year-old Mirabel drove him out or he left because he didn't care? Alma doesn't care that her explanation makes no sense, it's just that Bruno and Mirabel make for nice scapegoats. Which is interesting because Mirabel doesn't have a gift, but Bruno does. And she treats them both basically as persona non grata. Bruno - we don't talk about Bruno. Mirabel - step aside and let the rest of the family shine. So her bullshit about Mirabel acting out and hurting the family because she doesn't have a gift is just that, utter bullshit, because Bruno has a gift and used it for the townsfolk, and that apparently didn't stop Alma from disapproving of him, her baby boy, and contributing to his isolation. Her making her love for Mirabel conditional on Mirabel being magically gifted makes no sense when looking at how she talks (or doesn't talk) about Bruno.
And there's - Alma doesn't have a magical gift herself. Sure, the house grew around her and she got a pretty glowing door, but what she didn't get is a gift. Her sons-in-law, Felix and Agustín, didn't get any, either. (Interestingly, while marriage doesn't do the trick, adoption does, according to the creators. Neat.) Is she on their asses all the time? Does she exclude them from family photos? Does she give them the stink eye for daring to interact with a family member in need of support (Antonio and Luisa, respectively)? And Alma, what do you do for the family, the household, the town? Sweeping the floor because that's something a non-magical person can do? Well, Mirabel helps in the kitchen and takes care of her little cousin because that's something a non-magical person can do - she does her best to help wherever she can, so why does Alma think herself better or more worthy than her granddaughter in that regard? Because of the glowy door? You think you're so useful, how about you go and herd donkeys so Luisa has that stupidity off her plate? Nah, encourage the town's people to never do anything by themselves, let them depend on the Madrigals for every shit they should be able to do themselves. While Alma, the guarding deity, has the sole job of being present and representative? Eh.
And finally, the gaslighting. That's the one that could qualify as a dealbreaker for me. The other two things are based on Alma's amazing lack of awareness, but the gaslighting? That is extremely aware. She shuts Mirabel's worries down and then is like, "yeah, the kid probably had a sip of a drink", making her a laughingstock because that one time when Mirabel was humiliated before the entire town at age five was not enough. And then we learn that she knew the entire time that the house did have cracks, knew Mirabel was fully in the right when Alma publicly invalidated her. Oh my God.
It's not just Mirabel who gets invalidated. Luisa feels overtaxed? Nonsense, she just needs to keep working - and her sister telling her she should take it easy for once is bad and must be forbidden. Isabela feels like not looking like the perfect flower fairy princess today? She's out of control, that's not normal behavior - and keep that sister away from her that tells her self-expression is a healthy thing. Pepa isn't sunshine and daisies at all times? Please, girl, get it together, how dare you have negative emotions. How dare anyone around have negative emotions? With both her sisters, Mirabel is working against the grip Alma's grooming has on their ability to handle their feelings and needs, and Alma is always around to shit on her for that. Honestly, if she treated Bruno that way, he probably was totally isolated already when he left. Mirabel and Bruno acknowledge truths that are incovenient for Alma, and thus she disparages them. That is the one thing I think she got away too easily for, the gaslighting for the sake of the perfect Madrigal image.
I get that her background is extremely traumatizing, that her loss was terrible and that she's afraid of losing a home and loved ones again. I get that the central plot of this movie was her learning to better herself and deal with her past so her family could get over the mess of the previous years. But watching her actively shut down any expression of what she perceives as non-perfection because she equates her home with the family being infallible beyond every human standard, shitting on everyone whose existence suggests otherwise, that's still incredibly hurtful. No, she's not a monster - far from it; she's very human. Yes, her grief and fear make me wanna understand her. But damn, how she treated her family, that sucks. Alma, when Mirabel didn't get her gift, what should have alarmed you wasn't that the candle flickered - it was that the first thing you did was ask about the future of the magic instead of going to look after your very distressed grandchild. THAT would have been taking care of your family.
Please do better.

Jean Pierre Polnareff's true purpose
So, let's talk about Jean Pierre Polnareff.
The "silliest" of the Stardust Crusaders, the "clown" of the group, the "immature one".
Except he's really none of those things. He may not be a genius, but he is smart. People really don't give Polnareff the credit he deserves. I personally do believe, that out of all of the Crusaders he is the one with the worst fate.
All of the Crusaders have been through some form of trauma, yes, they all have faced Dio and have lost friends along the way, but Polnareff has had it especially hard, because people just seem to ignore/forget all he's done, and we tend to put him down as that silly, funny guy from Part 3.
It is true, Polnareff is very dorky and jokes around a lot, and just generally seems to be very at ease in an almost naive way. But this has it's reasons, and Polnareff is so much more than just this.
The people who smile the brightest often hide the worst pain in their hearts.
What I'm trying to say is, Jean sort of uses this goofy, happy facade as a coping mechanism for trauma and grief. Only 3 years prior to meeting the other Crusaders he'd lost his younger sister Sherry. And she wasn't just killed by accident, she was murdered. Imagine what that must have done to him. Whatever it was, it was enough for him to seek revenge, not stopping before anything.
Furthermore, he'd just somewhat come to terms with Avdol's supposed death later on in season 1 of Part 3. Maybe Polnareff even blamed himself for dragging Avdol into this. Especially after going off on his own when he'd finally found J. Geil, which I still believe he did, to not endanger his friends unnecessarily.
Avdol was probaply his closest friend of the bunch. I love the bond these two shared. And I believe that Avdol wanted Polnareff to realize that it's better to have friends to rely on, and that it wasn't his fault.
Still, Polnareff likely blamed himself for being responsible for Avdol's death, having seen him die right in front of him, because he was protecting him..
And later it turns out Avdol didn't really die, he was still alive all this time, and all the Crusaders knew about it. All of them, except for Polnareff.
They didn't tell him, because they didn't trust him to keep quiet about it in front of the enemy.
This is the one desicion I disagree on with Kakyoin and the others. How could they. Not only did they basically end up telling Polnareff that they didn't fully trust him, they left him blaming himself, feeling incredibly bad and traumatized for WEEKS.
And then not ONE of them, not even Kakyoin, really apologized to him. It can be argued that what they did was not to hurt Polnareff on purpose, regarding the dangerous situation they're in. And that makes sense. But it did hurt him. And that's sort of unforgivable in my book. Jean puts up this happy act, and no doubt he does have fun with the other Crusaders, it's not bad all the time at all. But when nobody's looking, the sad, pained look on his face is obvious enough.
Tumblr media
In the end, Polnareff really loses three of his friends, two of them because they protected him, and gave their lives for that yet again, but this time for real. He's essentially left with what he'd believed to be true before.
He is alone again.
Having only survived because others protected you and died for that, can make you feel so utterly desperate and worthless.
Despite this sorry state he falsely sees himself in, here is where it truly shows, just how noble Jean Pierre Polnareff really is.
Instead of leaving all of this behind when given the chance, to go back home to France, he continues investigating the Stand arrows, and the problems Dio's actions caused, even after he died.
Tumblr media
While Jotaro was on it too, Polnareff eventually decides to further investigate alone, probaply because he wanted to avoid losing another friend because he couldn't protect himself alone. It shows that he's grown. And it shows that Polnareff really doesn't hesitate to risk his life for this.
Tumblr media
This causes Polnareff to run into none other than Diavolo, who is after the arrows for his own, twisted reasons.
Which in turn, gets him into an even worse situation.
Not only has Polnareff spent his youth, from the age of 19 (when he lost his sister) to age 36, chasing after the Stand arrows and Dio to seek revenge and prevent even worse things from happening, he's also severely injured and left disabled for the rest of his life at only 23 years of age.
On top of all of this he is now the potential target of one of the most dangerous Mafia bosses in the world, forcing him to live in solitude for over 10 years, unable to contact ANY of his remaining friends or family because if he did so he'd risk getting them and himself hunted down and killed. Thus Polnareff is yet again alone.
Just.. take a moment to let all of that sink in. All of what Polnareff has been through.
And DESPITE all of that, he still pulls through, he still keeps going, stays strong and continuously puts his own life on the line to try and stop Diavolo from obtaining the Requiem arrow.
Because he knows that if he fails, everything the Crusaders fought for in 1989 will be to no avail. And even if he can't do much himself, he finds a way to contact Bucciarati's group after what I can only assume are weeks, if not months of research on them.
Tumblr media
(It is almost scary to see how much Polnareff has changed, from the mostly happy, outgoing and talkative guy we've known, to this serious, more mature and collected man, operating from within the shadows to reach out to Bruno.)
Now we, as the reader, know all of this about Polnareff, but to Bruno and his gang, he is a stranger, somebody they don't know if they can trust yet. They also only meet Polnareff very briefly before Diavolo finally reveals himself and kills Polnareff for good.
Jean Pierre Polnareff, spent his live almost constantly facing some sort of trauma. I can't begin to imagine what he must have felt like in the end, knowing he's dying, before having finished what he started, what he fought for.
Tumblr media
Yet he spends his last living moments thinking of his friends, the things he's been through back in Egypt, and atleast he knows that what he's done is not in vain, because he can safely place this mission he's dedicated the last 10 years of his life to, in the hands of Bucciarati and his gang.
This has an almost poethic value to it.
(It is also interesting to note that the Stand, Judgement, from Part 3 shows up in this panel. Think back, this Stand had the ability to grant "wishes" in form of illusions that turn against you. That was when he wished for his sister Sherry, and Avdol, whom Polnareff still believed to be dead, to come back to life. This always strangely touches me, because it's so naive to believe in such a thing, yet, it shows just HOW much Jean cares for those two, that he still had hope left, and was unable to let go, as of that time. The pain in his eyes as he realized that this last bit of hope he had was foolish, wronged, he had to accept and move on, which he does for the most part, but the fact that Judgement is something that he remembers in his last concious moments before dying shows that what happened on this particular day never really left him..)
Somehow, Polnareff is given a second chance, in form of his soul being kept alive within this bizarre Stand ability of Coco Jumbo. His body is dead, he can never go back, but Polnareff's spirit lives on. Atleast for now.
Tumblr media
And Polnareff did so much. He sacrificed everything, not even hesitating to lay down his life.
He deserved so much better. He deserved a happy, long life, a family, love and friends.
While he may not ever get some of these things, he's with Giorno now. He's made it out, somewhat, alive. He can rest easy now and that is what counts for me. His sacrifices have not been for nothing, and thus, his friends dying to protect him back in Cairo also have not died for nothing. Polnareff carried on their legacy, making their deaths count, moving on, but never forgetting.
It is somewhat ironic that the one who carried Polnareff's mission to the end was Giorno, Dio's son, and yet another Joestar. It seems that the fates of Polnareff, Dio, and the Joestar family were destined to cross paths from the beginning.
Again, as the reader, we know the whole picture, but Polnareff doesn't. And he still did what he did, and he deserves credit and gratitude for that.
This is why Jean Pierre Polnareff is one of the most important people in the storyline of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, and a man who has ALL my respect and admiration. I truly think that without him, things wouldn't have turned out as well as they did, and we have him to thank for that.
The last thing spoken in the anime of Vento Aureo is said by none other than Polnareff:
"Let's go,
...to the Colosseum."
