So, the heartstopper fandom. Generally very wholesome, still wholesome on AO3!! Despite the obvious... Horn..

Well, there's one user named "liz_pare" who has been making frankly DISGUSTING fanfics, that are EXTREMELY triggering. Now, I enjoy a good dark fanfic. I write them all the time, but this is just a whole new lane.

These fanfictions usually revolve around Nick being assaulted and Charlie enjoying it / doing it (very ooc.. but.. ok..) as well as always using homophobic slurs.

Obviously Heartstopper has some slurs used in it, it kind of comes with the territory of discussing LGBTQ+ topics in a realistic way.

But there's a huge difference.

This difference specifically is that the author on these fanfictions doesn't just use them because it's realistic, no.

The author is genuinely saying them in their notes. Which, first of all, what the fuck?? And second of all; No. They aren't referring to cigarettes. (In the UK some people call cigarettes and the like the f-slur so it'd be easy to come across it in the fandom since the show is set in Britain anyway)

And from all I've seen: No. This user is not a gay man. They said that they aren't even writing this for vent, they genuinely hate Heartstopper, the characters, and the fandom. They also said that they do it for personal pleasure, even after bi/pan/gay men have come to them and told them to cut it out.

Also the fanfictions are just fucking... Bad... There's so much character bashing and it's mostly directed at Charlie or Nick's mom.. for some reason..? But it's directed at Charlie because he's... A gay guy?

(reminder that Nick is bisexual, not gay, and he shouldn't be counted as anything but bisexual. Asexual Nick is cool though I mean like don't make him just gay because a huge part of Nick's identity is that he's bisexual and that's a huge deal for him as a person. If he was a real person.)
