As my life has drastically changed with chronic pain in the last eleven months, I find my self becoming more and more aware of issues that disabled people encounter

And hoooolllyyy shit. After today I'd just like to say that anyone who takes the time to educate on top of being disabled is a fucking saint

Having to formulate an answer to an invasive question when I'm already dealing with having zero energy and being in severe pain? Almost snapped tbh.

Find me a conservative right-wing song that deplatforms LGBTQIA+ and POC without also threatening to kill us in the same breath.

No one can find one that *logically* deplatforms them because... duh. But through listening to these egregious atrocities that people are calling 'hits', I'm noticing that the people singing these songs are not only 'not agreeing' with LGBTQIA and POC, but they also can't seem to not threaten to kill those same people in the same sentence.

The whole 'Jason Aldeen' thing completely green-flagged a lot of really disgusting things the last few weeks. One of those being the renewed hard-on for bootlicking by none other than Tom MacDonald. Him and his supremacist in crime (Adam Calhoun) decided to each come out with a song featuring the other one. The one on Adam's channel really lays into trans people, while also threatening to literally kill them. Much the same way Aldeen speaks his 'opinions' on POC, while also threatening to murder them in the same verse.

It's so crazy and ironic how dislike for LGBTQIA+ and POC peoples is always accompanied by the strong urge to also end all of their lives. It's almost like it's not something to have an opinion on because when you're opinion is 'I don't like it', it's a 30 second scroll through right-wing social media before you get to 'okay let's just end them all'.

I think about this part all the time when i see online conversations about bigotry and oppression that focus on the most cartoonish and blatant (and isolated) iterations (also often explicitly associated with an 'uneduated' [working class and/or nonwhite] perpetrator), rather than the subtle structural machinations which actually serve to fundamentally define the way a marginalised person is able to move through society. & the way people are able to affect an academic posture when discussing a form of oppression which they themselves benefit from and participate in which allows them to appear to transcend this relationship altogether, making them not only not complicit in this relationship but also actually better placed to comment on it than either those who perpetuate it or those who are marginalised by it.

I'm in the same boat of "favorite IDW character is unlikely to come back and hasn't been seen in years". Something about Turmoil makes me think about where all these big bad Decepticons came from. I don't think he is (as the Wheeljack said) stupid, because he managed to survive so long. "Big beefy and cunning" are not traits people typically associate with each other.

I thought IDW (and just TF writers, in general, of recent times) are trying to go for lower class/laboring caste rebels against the ruling class type of deal with Decepticons. So I’m going to assume that some of these big bad Decepticons are from those origins too.

These big strong mechs were probably, for the most part, seen as stupid heavies and exploited for manual labor. (The former, making Wheeljack’s comment sound a bit prejudiced.) Just like the others, they were tired of being treated unfairly. And it’s likely Megatron’s ideology sounded reasonable to them for them to join the faction. (I mean with the whole “oppressed working class” deal, the laborers are definitely going to join because that’s what they do.)

I also like to say that others thinking they’re stupid could be classist too. These big mechs didn’t have the chance to have a “proper” education. So to the others, this must mean they’re stupid because they don’t and can’t express themselves in an “educated” manner or have/pursue scholarly interests. (I’ve had people get mad at me for discussing serious subjects with direct, simplified words. They dismissed my message because I didn’t use jargon like they did, instead of understanding it to continue the discussion.) Since these big mechs are so smart, many have definitely taken advantage of their rivals/opponents underestimating them. I’m sure this is the case with Turmoil.

Yes, I have a certain fondness for intelligent and practical characters like this.

I was raised on Jim Crow segregation era politics of respectability. I was raised with the idea that adults were absolutely infallible and never to be questioned by children. So when people call me “intelligent”, yes, they’re right, but it’s weird to me, Because I’m a grown ass adult, and shouldn’t I be, by now? But then you talk to all these other adults, some even with more formal education than you, and see they’re not your peers. And a friendship would be draining because it would be you explaining things ALL THE TIME and there would never be an even exchange of ideas, and there would be a siphoning of you happening. I had to cut Chelsea off because I saw too much of MY shit come off her fingers with no credit to me, but she’s the one with the master’s. And then I look back at the stupid shit I endured growing up the child of two uneduated and abusive people and see how wrong they were about everything, And understand that they were just abusive people Who were raised by traumatized, abusive people, so post traumatic slave syndrome is heavy in my family, And that’s why “adults are infallible and not to be questioned” was their business model. NOT because adults are automatically more intelligent cause life experience and education. Cause that’s how I rationalized it, that adults are not to be questioned because they’re automatically smarter, they have life experience and education! But nah. I’m out here talking to folks with life experience and education and they’re still not my peers. The abused child in me is shifting how she thinks about adults today. Bear with me.
