LOLOLOL ok. so. long story. sorry

i dont remember the specific years cuz i have a really shitty memory but it was before odyssey came out so like. 2016-2017. the timeline goes something like this—

i think i previously knew game theory from my undertale phase, but i was specifically recommended the video calculating how rich luigi would be if he kept all the money from the original luigi’s mansion. so i start watching the game theory videos about mario and i get Super into it. like i start writing journals full of lore and shit, i started a mario amino account and i got pretty popular on there, odyssey comes out just a few months later in october 2017, mario is pretty huge for me

idk when all this stuff happens, but around the same time i was listening to music on soundcloud again, and i obviously look up a bunch of mario songs and whatever.

i specifically find this one user, ultimate_kai, who makes utauloids and posts them onto soundcloud. there are three tracks, hashire (走れ) with a mario utauloid, yume yume (ゆめゆめ) with a luigi utauloid, and torinoko city (トリノコシティ), with both of them. needless to say, i loved them, and this is where my interest in speech synthesizers, specifically vocaloid and utau, took off.

so i’m listening to these covers religiously and im looking into utau more, mario is dropping off my interest radar and this coincides with me getting SUPER into wall-e again. and obviously, auto is voiced by mac tts ralph. so i learn more about plaintalk / macintalk, i get super interested in it, and my brain starts to think up an auto utauloid, since it would be funny and pretty easy to make.

so of course the natural progression is i buy a macbook, i learn how to make auto sounding vocals with an application called repeat after me thanks to a youtube video, and i eventually return to repeat after me after messing around with another synthesizer. i figure out how to make singing vocals and i start posting them onto tumblr.

after a few months with repeat after me, i get a stroke of genius and make a little mascot for the app, designed after the app’s icon. their name is peat. the end
