Ice and Mav as Tzeitel and Motel from Fiddler on The Roof

Motel Kamzoil from Fiddler on the Roof is the most pathetic meow meow I’ve ever seen. Not in the “he’s tragic” kind of way, but more like that meme where the guy goes “please stop hitting my rib cage with a metal bar.” My man has soaked kitten energy but clearly he has rizz cause he convinced Tevye to let him marry Tzeitel. It took him years to recover from that ordeal though, and I guess the sewing machine was the only cure.

I love that instead of “Motel asked me to marry him” or vice versa, Tzeitel tells Tevye, “We gave each other our pledge.” She phrases it like it was a pact or a pinky promise, which is adorable considering that they’re childhood best friends. But it’s not childish in this situation. They’re both proposing to each other because they’re equals, and that is how they want to go into their marriage. That’s so powerful given their circumstances and time period.

ok but for real like. jewish + likes musical theater = fiddler lover BUT even apart from that…. it’s just so good the story the songs the themes the characters the everything…. fotr i adore u so :(

Still thinking about what my friend said about marriage because wow. She’s never really been one I’d have pegged for that mostly bc she’s always seemed… ambivalent (although she did tell me when we first met that she wanted a black wedding dress and an edm theme for her wedding) but I guess it makes sense because a lot of her extended friend group is very relationship-focused. But anyways Im not opposed to the idea of getting married someday, despite knowing only one couple in my family that has had what I’d consider a model marriage…. Out of my grandparents, parents and all my aunts and uncles (1/8, lol only counting first marriages). I think the problem is that I’m too picky and too…… unforgiving and somehow altogether too caught up in some weird romantic notion of a relationship. I feel simultaneously too cynical and too naive.
