Remember… Irish actress Caitriona Balfe looked stunning — as per usual — on the red carpet at the 2020 Oscars in Valentino Haute Couture! The 40-year-old newlywed wore a unique outfit that involved a dress and a blouse when she walked the carpet at her first Academy Awards. She stunned in the black, fishtail-style gown which fell straight down her body in an extremely flattering style. But the strapless dress wasn’t the star of the show: it was the sheer pink blouse she wore over the top! The high-neck blouse was made of a very light material, and fell down to her hips. It also featured a gorgeous, oversized bow which she wore to the left of her neck. Stunning! The model-turned-actress accessorized with silver stud earrings and a matching silver ring and bracelet. Your hands were shaking as you smoothed your dress down even though it didn’t need any altering whatsoever and you look up into the mirror to see Gwilym standing behind you with a smile. He steps towards you slowly then reaches out for your hands and places his on top of them as your body relaxes into him.

“Everything will be alright,” he soothes, “I’ll be right there next to you.”

“I don’t even know why I’m nervous!” you sigh, “I couldn’t care less about winning, being nominated was more than enough.”

“But you will win,” Gwilym smirks in the reflection of the mirror. You slip your hands away from his and turn to face him so you can slide your arms around his shoulders.

“I’ve already won,” you grin before standing on tiptoe to kiss his lips.

“Flattery will get you everywhere,” he mumbles against your mouth as he deepens the lustful kiss. When you part you notice the shadow of your lipstick hanging on his lips and wipe it away with your thumb, then he kisses the pad of your digit as you smile up at him.

“You ready for this?” he asks.

“Ready as I’ll ever be!” you chuckle.

Making your way to the red carpet was exhilarating and Gwil held your hand throughout the car journey as you tapped your foot with both nerves and excitement. You never quite got used to people shouting your name from behind the lenses of cameras and it could become a little overwhelming when you had to change direction every few seconds, but with Gwilym by your side nothing else mattered, and you’re soon ushered over to a waiting interviewer for a quick chat.

“I’m here on the extremely busy red carpet with Gwilym Lee and actress in a supporting role nominee (Y/N) (Y/L/N) from the hit film Bohemian Rhapsody. How are you feeling right now, (Y/N)? Is it feeling real now that you’re here?” the interviewer asks as they point the microphone towards you.

“I have a terrifying mixture of excitement and nerves fluttering around in my stomach right now, and it’s feeling very real now!”

“Are you nervous about the competition you’re up against?”

“For me, being nominated is more than enough and I’m still expecting someone to turn around and admit they made a mistake with the nominees list,” you laugh, “it’s mostly the nerves of waiting for that to happen I think!”

“They didn’t get anything wrong there, trust me! Gwilym, how do you feel as a fellow co-star and husband?”

“So unbelievably proud. She’s just phenomenal, I couldn’t think of anyone more deserving of this nomination than her. (Y/N) doesn’t do things by half and she put her heart and soul into this. I’m just so full of pride, I could burst,” he smiles and you melt into his side.

“That’s beautiful. Well my fingers are crossed for you tonight, (Y/N), thank you for talking to us!”

You both make your way inside with Gwilym’s arm firmly gripped around your waist and have just enough time to see Ben, Joe and Allen before taking your seats near Rami and Lucy in the front row of your section. As soon as your category is announced both Lucy and Gwilym who are either side of you grip onto your hands as the names are called and the clips play on screen.

“And the winner of actress in a supporting role is… (Y/N) (Y/L/N)!”

Your breath catches in your throat as you hear your name called out and everyone starts going crazy around you as you stay sat in shock for a few seconds, but what feels like minutes. Lucy is first to wrap her arms around you and squeal, then Rami cuddles you tightly before you finally turn to Gwilym who has the widest grin on his face you’d ever seen.

“I fucking knew it,” he whispers as he peppers your face with kisses, “get up there.”

He helps you to the stairs then steps back and takes his seat as you collect your award. Him, Lucy and Rami exchange excited looks and Gwil rubs his cheeks as they start to hurt from smiling so much.

“Umm, okay,” you say into the microphone as you look at the three supportive people in front of you, “well, I didn’t prepare anything because I didn’t think this was going to happen, so you’ll have to bear with me while my mind catches up to what’s going on.”

The audience lets out a light chuckle and you laugh nervously into the mic.

“Well, none of this would have happened without the absolute legends that are Brian May and Roger Taylor,” you begin as you gesture your award towards them in the crowd and they give a wave, “I will never be able to thank you enough for what you’ve done for all of us. To the whole cast and crew who worked tirelessly on making this masterpiece, I am honoured to have been on this journey with you all and I wouldn’t be up here if it weren’t for every single one of you. To my family who have put up with so much over the years… It all paid off, right?!” you shake the oscar in your hand with a smile and another quiet chuckle sounds out around the room, “and finally to you, Gwilym, my better half, my rock, genuine love of my life. Thank you for being you, you perfect man.”

Your eyes glisten with tears as you look directly at him and he blows you a kiss before sweeping a finger underneath his eyes as a tear escapes. Everyone applauds as you step back from the microphone then you go off stage at the side and Gwilym sneaks out of his seat to meet you. No words are uttered as he picks you up, spins you around then places you gently back down but keeps his arms wrapped tightly around you while he buries his face in your neck to muffle his proud sobs. Words were superfluous right now as you held onto one another in a loving embrace, and the oscar almost slips out of your fingers in an attempt to hold him tighter.

Can I ask for a Gwilym Lee imagine where yn wins her first Oscar and it's super cute because her husband (and the cast) are super happy for her and she thanks him in a lovely way(inspired by Ramis speech that was wonderful)

Sure, spring is nice, and there’s so much to celebrate in the winter but my favorite season is easily awards season! 2021 marks 93 years of Hollywood’s annual film celebration, and this year’s Academy Awards will be a combination of in-person and virtual.

Ahead of the big night every year, my friends and I try to watch all of the new nominees, along with some of our favorite past winners. With the help of Google Search, we’re able to keep track of everything we want to watch, as well as check titles off once the credits roll. Starting today, you’ll find a brand new carousel of 2021 nominated movies when searching for “what to watch.” And on Google TV, we’re featuring collections that highlight nominees and 20 years of award-winning women.

During my movie list-making, I decided to take a look at Google Trends to see what  “Best Picture” winners have piqued our interest. And the award for most-searched goes to: 1997’s romantic drama about a maiden voyage across the Atlantic...with two hits from the 70s as the runners-up.

The British born actress wowed in a lilac and teal gown with a thigh-high slit. It resembled her white Versace gown she wore on the carpet.

After chatting it up with celebs on the red carpet for the Oscars before the show, "POSE" actor Billy Porter changed from his Giles Deacon couture gown to something more dance ready. The Golden Globe nominated actor slipped into this custom purple and lilac Christian Siriano 'fit, topped with a custom Sarah Sokol Millinery brimmed hat, and a "F*CK U PAY ME" clutch by These Pink Lips.

After a hard day at work or when I'm feeling like splashing a bit. After something a bit more quality and healthier but still want that satisfying taste of ice cream/ chocolate

What are you doing when eating Rush Munro’s?

Kicking back at home with friends or family, maybe after a family dinner? Or indulging on a nice coastal beach on a hot summer's day

How would you describe how it tastes? And feels?

It tastes slightly healthier than other ice creams, more refined possibly? It feels smooth and melts in your mouth. It has nice flavours and smells which reminded me of a farmers market

How are you eating it?

By itself with a spoon, watching TV. It is so good and flavoursome it does not require any accompaniment

What kind of people are you with when you eat Rush Munro?

Family and friends, either with family around the dinner table or watching TV or with friend and the beach or on a road trip somewhere sunny

Where would you place Rush Munro on the market in terms of quality?

High end, it is pricey and organic. It seems like something you would buy from a deli or upmarket supermarket such as Farro

What does it mean to you that Rush Munro is 93 years old?

It shows heritage and that they have been perfecting their craft over a number of years. To me it shows long-standing quality

How often would you buy Rush Munro?

On a rare occasion, it is something special and for a unique occasion. It is quite pricey so its when you are after the top quality version of ice cream

What kind of effect does the organic qualities of Rush Munro have on your decision to purchase it?

It makes me feel slightly more health and environmentally conscious. I am not buying some mass produced ice cream that comes out of some huge pollution churning factory. It seems straight from the source and taste like a slice of home.

I am waiting in a big casino/ hotel lobby. There are a lot of bright lights, noises and gold. People dressed in suits and exotic smells, it is night time and the place is hustling and bustling

It is a gold plates limousine, with bright headlights out the front and a big panoramic sunroof on top. It looks brand spanking new and is very shiny.

The driver speaks in a high-class English accent and wears a dark black suit with a top hat. He also wears a bow tie, very formal

Big neon signs and flashing lights, watch the throne by Kanye and Jay Z is playing, making me feel successful and special. I'm in a big busy city where there are a lot of important people walking around and big skyscrapers

There is a big red carpet and again lots of flashing lights and cameras, it feels like the Oscars. There is free tastings and a photo wall plastered with the logo of the brand, people are drinking champagne and chatting. There is a big sign for the brand exclusive versions of the product

They are dressed very flash and have slick back hair, donning a base for the brand on his suit. They explain how at this brand experience they will be releasing an exclusive new flavour that is only available tonight and goes on sale next year. It makes me feel special as I am getting something limited edition. I feel lucky and valued as they want me to try this exclusive product.

‘Frozen 2’ heats up box office with $127M opening weekend

NEW YORK — Six years after “Frozen” kicked up a pop-culture blizzard, the sequel to Elsa, Anna and Olaf’s adventures snowed-in the box office with an estimated $127 million debut domestically and $350.2 million worldwide, according to studio estimates Sunday.

The opening for the Walt Disney Co.’s “Frozen 2” buried several records. It’s the highest-grossing weekend ever for any animated film globally. It marks a new high in the U.S. and Canada for an animated movie released outside of the summer season. And it’s the largest opening for any Walt Disney Animation Studios release.

Disney opted for the week ahead of Thanksgiving to open “Frozen 2,” meaning it will get a significant second week bump from kids out of school. The first “Frozen” opened over Thanksgiving, earning $93 million in five days and $67 million for the three-day weekend.

The original, though, quickly grew into a sensation, remaining in the top 10 at the box office for 17 weeks and ultimately grossing $1.27 billion. Propelled in part by the hit song “Let it Go,” “Frozen” begat a flurry of merchandizing, untold numbers of Elsa dresses and a Broadway musical. It won two Academy Awards, for best animated feature and original song.

Matching that total gross won’t be easy sledding, but “Frozen 2” has a head start. Cathleen Taff, distribution chief for Disney, granted there’s a “high bar” set by “Frozen,” but she’s confident of the film’s enormous appeal.

“We can’t open to a number this big without everybody coming out to see it,” said Taff. “We’re looking forward to a good run through the holidays given kids are going to start getting out of school this next week.”

Reviews and audience reaction have been good for “Frozen 2,” but not as strong as they were for the original. The CinemaScore was A- for “Frozen 2,” whereas “Frozen” yielded an A+. Critics were also a little less taken with the sequel: 75% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, compared to 90% for the original.

But scores were still very high, including a 93% Rotten Tomatoes audience rating. Crowds were largely female (59%) but not extremely so.

The film brings back much of the talent behind the 2013 original, including the voices of Idina Menzel (Elsa), Kristen Bell (Anna) and Josh Gad (Olaf). Also returning are songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, though the music this time hasn’t be quite as enthusiastically received. And it’s again directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, who’s now the chief creative officer at Disney Animation.

“Frozen 2” helped thaw a frigid November box office. The last three weeks have seen a string of films rooted in decades-old intellectual property fizzle, including Warner Bros.’ “Doctor Sleep,” Paramount Pictures’ “Terminator: Dark Fate” and Sony Pictures’ “Charlie’s Angels.”

But Elsa could do only so much to move the needle. The weekend was actually down 7% from the same frame last year, according to data firm Comscore. In 2018, there were simply more big movies in the marketplace, including “Ralph Breaks the Internet,” “Creed II” and “Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald.”

Last week’s top film, “Ford v Ferrari” slipped 49% in its second week to a distant second with $16 million. James Mangold’s film, also a Disney release (courtesy of the studio’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox), has grossed $103.8 million worldwide thus far. Starring Christian Bale and Matt Damon, the movie has also joined this season’s sped-up Oscar race. (The Academy Awards will be held Feb. 9 this year.)

Marielle Heller’s Mister Rogers drama “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood,” starring Tom Hanks and Matthew Rhys, is also in the Oscar mix. It opened in third with $13.5 million. That was roughly on target for the Sony Pictures release, which cost about $25 million to make. It, too, should be positioned to play well through the holidays.

Less successful was the crime thriller “21 Bridges,” starring Chadwick Boseman as a police detective who puts Manhattan on lockdown for a manhunt. Up against steep competition for adult audiences, “21 Bridges” raised $9.2 million in tolls for STXfilms, a so-so result for a film that cost $33 million to produce. The film is produced by Anthony and Joseph Russo, whose last movie as directors, “Avengers: Endgame,” did slightly better.

Todd Haynes’ legal thriller “Dark Waters” opened in four theaters with a strong per-theater average of $27,467. The Focus Features release, starring Mark Ruffalo, is based on a 2016 New York Times Magazine article about a corporate attorney who sued the Dupont chemical company over the health and environmental effects of a “forever chemical” used by Dupont.

Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Comscore. Where available, the latest international numbers for Friday through Sunday are also included. Final domestic figures will be released Monday.

Fantasy Hockey Oscars

  Inspired by Sunday night’s Academy Awards, which I didn’t watch, I will attempt to put a fantasy hockey spin on the old classic. There will be no red carpet fawning or lists of the best and worst dressed players, that stuff is for The Hockey News.

Description: One of the dearest backstories at the Oscars tonight ~ Presenter, Eva Marie Saint, who announced in her soft voice, “I’m older than the Academy (she’s gorgeous at 93) appeared on stage to announce Best Costume Design, she reminisced about costumes from two of her movies ~ complete opposite ends of the spectrum ~ a navy coat worn repeatedly throughout ‘On the Waterfront’ & a black full-skirted silk dress with red roses & plunging V-neck back worn in ‘North by Northwest’, which was her favorite dress of any movie in which she starred. Edith Head wasn’t available due to contractual commitments; Hitchcock weren’t satisfied with the studio costume sketches for Eve Kendall’s character in North by Northwest ~ so he whisked her off to Bergdorf Goodman in NYC where she fell in love with this dress ~ in fact her wardrobe was shopped directly off the Bergforf models. Hitch insisted every one in his pictures dress in a classical style so as not to “date” the movie. I’d wear this today in a heartbeat!
