I'm so glad Tumblr exists, being mentally ill on other websites seems to get people really worked up.

I have come to despise nostalgia. It appeals to the selfishness of people in a masturbatory manner, promising the opportunity to relive the past while the present and future are neglected. Nostalgia is the death of creativity and with it the spirit of humanity.

"It isn't necessary to imagine the world ending in fire or ice. There are two possibilities: one is paperwork, the other is nostalgia. Eventually, within the next quarter of a century, the nostalgia cycles will be so close together that people will not be able to take a step without being nostalgic for the one they just took. At that point, everything stops. Death by Nostalgia." --Frank Zappa

Rocks are neat.
You can find them anywhere. They're just laying around, all over the place. Big rocks, little rocks, rocks of various types. All over. And you can just take them, for free, if you can lift them. As long as you're not stealing someone's exotic imported rocks or something, they belong to everyone.
Rocks are basically untraceable. Wear a pair of gloves and as long as you're not carrying around someone's exotic imported rocks or something, nobody knows where it came from and who had it last. Don't draw on it, or paint it, or get your DNA on it, of course, because those things can be traced.
Can you throw a rock? A lot of people can throw rocks. Rocks can be used to break glass, if you are good at throwing them. Lots of buildings and cars have glass parts, good for throwing rocks at.

I recall watching an episode of Night Court when I was a kid that may have been my first introduction to the concept of transgenderism.
I had to look it up: the episode was aired in November of 1985 and titled "Best of Friends". In it, Dan Fielding, the hypersexual attorney played by John Larroquette, talks about how an old buddy of his was going to be visiting, and how much he was looking forward to going out and partying with him. And his buddy shows up, and it turns out he is now a woman.
Now, in the 80s, in a situation like this, it was almost always played as a joke. But here, Dan's friend shows up and is revealed to be a transwoman, and of course Dan loses his shit about this, however...
Everyone else treats it like it's not a big deal and they explicitly tell Dan to calm his shit down, that he's overreacting, that's he's being an asshole, and so forth.
Dan doesn't really change by the end, but the final note is when Dan's other buddy, the disheveled guy (he was a regular on the show but not in the main credits), sees Dan's friend and goes "Wow, she's hot!" And Dan, look of disgust on his face, says severely "She used to be a man." And his buddy shrugs and says "So what?"
This was nearly 40 years ago and idiots my age are still acting like they've never heard of trans people until recently. Of course, I come from a generation that favors what I call Curated Ignorance, which is just a fancy way of saying they live with their eye perpetually closed and their fingers perpetually in their ears.

Most of my friends from Back in the Day, you know, they either stopped caring about music years ago or they are still listening to the same stuff they were listening to when we were in our twenties.
It's a little frustrating because it used to be a way to engage people but that's no longer the case.
But I don't spend a lot of time listening to the exact music I used to, because music often connects to memory, and I don't like living in the past. The great thing about listening to new stuff is it hasn't yet attached itself to memory. It's in the process of doing that right now.
I do look to the past for music, but thanks to the Internet I now have access to stuff I didn't have back then, so I may be listening to something from the 80s or whatever but it's new to me.
That said, old music is still rooted to the past. New music is rooted to the present.
So I alternate a lot depending on my mood on any given day.
Helps that I have a very large mp3 collection stashed away.
