When they first adopted Spider they got him a cake and started having “gotcha” days as a way to make up for Jake’s parenting guilt for not noticing he needed help earlier. Neytiri was just humoring Jake (but also Spider is just so surprised by nice things and it’s very sad and cute and she likes it). Lo’ak was little and did not understand why Spider got two birthdays but he only gets one, so he would lowkey (HIGHKEY) try to sabotage the entire day. Jake RELISHED in foiling his every plan because that is making it up to New Son, get it? Also Lo’ak was being a little shit. Imagine Jake like using one hand to raise Spider’s to cheer as he’s blowing out his candles and one in front of Lo’ak’s face to keep him from blowing the candles out first. Jake puts the presents up really high so Lo’ak can’t reach them and open one and Lo’ak like, cries out of pure frustration and Jake is evilly beaming in the background. 10/10 parenting, Neytiri, Spider is being loved aggressively and Little Shit is learning to share. Then Spider gives Lo’ak one of his presents (it’s a stuffed whale and a year later Lo’ak loses it somewhere and scream-cries until 2:30am until Jake finds it buried up to its neck in the sandpit at the playground) because Spider feels bad. Jake is in the background, arms crossed over his “Kiss the Grillmaster” apron like “He doesn’t deserve that” to Neytiri and she’s like “Oh my god, let them be nice to each other.”
