Everyone is like "omg I love gay rivals to lovers" except for the Pokemon fandom, for whatever fucking reason (ignoring originalshipping and preciousmetalshipping). Like literally no one likes any of the gay rivals to lovers ships outside of those. If they DO, it's het. Like, you NEVER see cutebonesshipping. You never see cheeryfairyshipping. You never see clingyshipping. I don't even know what Arven x Florian is, because no one ships it, they usually all self-ship with Arven or ship Juliana with Arven (and it's very obvious Juliana is their self-insert). Like, I don't understand why?? I guess I could understand clingyshipping, because clingyshipping is very friends/rivals to lovers (they are both at the same time). But with the other two it's like?? They both have the asshole with the not asshole formula that originalshipping and preciousmetalshipping have. I guess maybe, okay, it's not protagonist x your rival, but they're clearly rivals to each other (because neither Hau nor Hop are asshole rivals to the protagonist).
And if you only do like protagonist x rival, like, I do not even SEE Bede x Victor or Gladion x Elio. I DO see Bede x Gloria and Gladion x Selene far more often, though! Like, there's nothing wrong with it, I guess? It's just. I wish shipping for the rivals in the Pokemon fandom was more popular, gay-wise. The only times it is popular outside of gen 1-2 are het-wise, and even then, it's usually glaringly obvious that they're not writing the female protag/rival, and are instead just writing themselves into the relationship.
And like, nothing wrong with that, but for the LOVE of God, just make a new character/OC. There is a difference between the official protagonist of the game and YOU. Just ship yourself as the protagonist with whatever character rather than saying "yeah this is the canon protag (is clearly a self-insert)" because it isn't fair to fans looking for content of the actual protagonist character x other character. Like I'm not saying don't have headcanons but I'm saying you cannot go (this is an example) "This is my Juliana! She is just me but inside the game" Juliana is NOT you just make your own self-insert for the game, like you play as your name in the game and customize the character. Rather than pretending that customization is Juliana just call it yourself.
Get into self-ship! For the love of god! Self-ship is fun and cool! But the official canon protagonist =/= the player character! This is an issue I see in so many fandoms! It's okay to have headcanons, of course!!! But there is a difference between headcanons and just having the character be YOU but in the game!
TLDR; Gay rival ships outside of Gen 1-2 are not popular in the Pokemon fandom which really bothers me because it seems like they should be. Even when it's the protagonist x their rival, it still isn't popular, but oftentimes you see that the het version of this ship is more popular. Ignoring personal preference, this is often frustrating because it's clear that the female character is just being used as a self-insert, in which case the person needs to understand that protagonist=/=player character and just make a self-insert and get into self-ship because it clogs the tags (whether on Tumblr, Ao3, or other media site) since you're not actually portraying the protagonist, you are portraying you.
Why the hell do I care about this it doesn't even matter and this is INCREDIBLY stupid I am getting off my soapbox now

Rules: Go to your published works on AO3 and list the first fic you ever published there, the last fic you published, any fic that you wrote for a fandom/ship only once, your favorite fic you wrote in the fandom/ship that has the most works, the fic you wish more people read, the fic you agonized over the most, the fic that sprang fully formed from your mind without any effort, and a work you are proud of—for whatever reason.
(Personal note: all my fics are currently locked to ao3 users only to help prevent ai scraping. If you do not currently have an ao3 account and would like one send me an ask and I can send you an invite.)
First Fic: Oh certainly something silly I wrote as a gift for a friend back in middle school. It was a patrol report from Batgirl. First thing that made it to ao3? The Beginning of the Flock which still gets the odd hit, kudos, or comment much to my delight as I feel like my writing has improved quite a bit since then.
Most recent fic: At Least They're Only Losing Money one of 3 fics written thanks to insomnia, the end of series/seasons, and a penchant for grumpy Brits with a smoking problem and/or Key Narrative Foil. Also, painfully insightful look at the fact that I really like crossovers and only write for certain fandoms under those conditions.
Fic that you wrote for a fandom/ship once: See above re: crossovers, this being my only Lockwood & Co. fic & like all my Magnus Archives fics it's a crossover, though I'm still delighted by the response it got. They Just Let Anyone Walk In involves some "real" ghost stories and a personal favorite trope of modern teens with inexplicable swords.
Favorite fic you wrote in the fandom/ship you wrote the most for: I'm going to count the DC fandom at large rather than the smaller sub-fandoms. Negative Effects of Habits is like the fic that launched a thousand plot bunnies. I adored playing with Mia's moxie, John's kindness, and their combined snark. So much so, I just kept writing their unlikely friendship.
Fic I wish more people read: This one is easy: glitter and gold my love letter to the dcu, its families, and the way the characters all connect in little or large ways and care for each other. I spent a lot of time on it and purposefully used minimal tags as to not clog things up but as a result I know it didn't reach very far. But I love it and I worked hard to try and get it just right so I hope those who do come across it enjoy it.
Fic I agonized over the most: There's two options for this, it's a tossup. Both were wips for the longest time and one took a tonal and stylistic turn in the middle as a result. Can We Get a Refill? a modern au Les Mis diner fic featuring idiots in crush, Romantic investigations, and just a touch of magic. The other is Donna Troy and the Outlaws a pre52 story of Kory, Roy, and Jason being brought together by Donna to try and claw herself out of a dark place and save some kids who never should've died in the first place.
Fic that sprang fully formed without effort: A lot. So many. Most. But I remember listening to this song and just writing this fic as it played in the library. Solider, Poet, King is a pretty good character study for being borderline stream of consciousness. The fact the song got REALLY popular on socials about a year later is kinda hilarious too.
Work I'm most proud of: five phones on the table is a little experimental and something I was worried about how it would turn out but I'm really happy and, well proud, of it. I think it's fitting that it's the Fab Five too, as the Teen Titans are what got me into fandom in the first place.
I really don't know who to tag for this so if you see this and write fic consider yourself tagged! I want to know what I should add to my reading list.

FANFIC TITLE: One Legged Thumper [WRITTEN 13 OCT 2020] 1/1 Chapters
FANDOM: My Hero Academia RELATIONSHIP(S): Aizawa Shouta | Eraserhead/Yamada Hizashi | Present Mic , Shinsou Hitoshi & Midoriya Izuku REMINDER: Character/Character = Romantic, Character & Character = Platonic.
SUMMARY: Hitoshi didn't want a sibling, he was completely content with being alone with his Dads.
...He didn't want to share them, or be left alone again. He was currently the favorite- and the only favorite. He doesn't want that to change.
But of course, against his best wishes- he ends up favoring his new sibling too. It was hard not to. Especially when he had huge bunny ears that laid atop his head.
...Maybe it'll be fine.
Or// Hitoshi gets a new sibling, bunny Izuku who is.. Missing a leg. LINK: https://archiveofourown.org/works/26984365 REMEMBER! Always read tags before reading! I don't typically involve the tags on the tumblr post just so I don't clog up tags and or make the post too long. Be reassured however that none of my fanfics are explicit or involve anything NSFW. But still do check tags as a majority are Hurt/Comfort and can involve something possibly triggering to others.

[questions for fic writers]
Thanks!
5. What do you wish someone would ask you about [insert fic]? Answer it now!
I'm being real boring and chose something I've actually been asked before: why do I write some fics in past tense and some in present tense? I think part of it has to do with the source material - movies/shows feel like they're happening right in front of me, that's why my Tatort Berlin fic (and both the wips) is in present tense, while the ddf books are written in past tense, so that's what I'm using - mostly. Because sometimes I think present tense gives a fic a greater sense of immediacy, draws the reader in closer, which is why I do have some ddf fic in present tense, mostly ones I want to feel very raw.
12. Are there any tropes you used to dislike but have grown on you?
Well, when I got into the fandom, I really wasn't interested in writing (or reading) AUs, always said I wouldn't do it, but I have multiple multichaptered AU fics now, so.... xD
9. How do you find new fic to read?
Going to be honest, on ff.de I currently mostly read what authors I already follow post, don't have the patience to look through new uploads, filter out what doesn't interest me (since there's no build in excluding filter on ff.de, or any *functioning* filtering anyway) and then look into it in the hopes that the writing isn't abysmal. For ao3 I actually always have multiple tabs open on my phone that're for fic - the Three Investigators tag (with Peter/Bob excluded, because I don't care for that and it's massively clogging up the tag 🤷‍♂️), the Tatort tag (with *a lot* of pairings/characters excluded and set only to completed works because I don't really care deeply about that fandom, I just read what seems interesting), and uh. the "Robert Karow" tag (with no other filters, because there's a grand total of 64 works for him, more than one where he's only mentioned, and I am fucking starving for Karow content) - and I refresh those three tabs multiple times per day to see if anything new has been posted and then I either read it or I don't.

Hello!!
I'm back again, also I'm sorry if I ended up clogging up your notifications because I think I just went through your entire 'gojo satoru x reader' tag cuz I'm just so in love with your writing! 💗💗
That one post about Gojou interrupting all your dates, and being completely obnoxious about it was soo funny, pls he's so ridiculous, but also its cute that he panics over just the notion of any man taking reader away from him, its always so funny (and kinda sad asghsiag) to me because Gojou overall is a very intelligent man, but then when it comes to emotions and feelings, he like loses all his brain cells LOL, and can be very round about and avoidant too (at least imo!)
Also that post about Gojou taking reader's v-card was sooo ADALKANGBFD your characterization was so on point because he would be all jokey and lighthearted about it but in the actual moment, he'd be sooo focused on reader's pleasure and also their comfort, and just being all praises and sweet words that are also so filthy that your brain just goes numb, I think just the knowledge of knowing that he is the first one (and hopefully the only one lol) that get's to be the one to see reader unravel and become undone like this just itches a certain itch in his heart, I'm so sure that after this he would become even more touchy and insatiable for reader's touch and attention, and affection, he'd be more possessive too, he makes me so *sighs dreamily* 🥺
Ahh also that wet shirt drabble(?) was soo good, and also soo like shoujo-esque (if I may makeup a word lol), but it fits him so well, joking about finding your bra boring, while every nerve in his brain just fuses and his heart is like five seconds away from combusting, and then giving you his jacket (not just to save you from embarrassment, but also cuz no one else can see you like that, and it also makes him so flustered), he's so ASKHSDUIFBHFD
And the breeding kink posts!!!! I'm screaming, pls I love Gojou and breeding kink so much, its so just *screams* (especially during that time of the month my brain is just like *gojou and breeding kink* 24/7 its borderline embarrassing LMAO) I think it just fits him so well, he's so possessive and obsessive, and lovesick, and touch starved (and love starved imo he's a very lonely and sad guy 😭) that there is no way that he doesn't want to have like an army of children with the reader, and I just know he would treat getting the reader pregnant like some life and death mission, he'd be so determined about the whole thing, just round after round until your inside are filled with his cum, and making sure that you don't waste any of his precious cum, he definitely has an app to follow reader's ovulation periods and such, he's so insane and lovesick fr 💗
Also! I thought I'd share some dad gojou fanart that I made the other day 🥺 (altho! no pressure to like or anything, I just though I'd share!) https://ame-791.tumblr.com/post/681386471584858112/ame-791-love-how-generally-most-of-us-believe
Oh! I just saw that tag about Gojou making a pun about fishermen and curse users in the HI arc, and I would love to hear more about it! I never saw it in the translation! (pls I wish the manga was better translated so non-Japanese speakers could better understand the wonderful work that is JJK 😭)
Anyways, sorry this ask got so freakishly long, I just wanted to drop by and tell you that I really appreciate all your Gojou stuff, and I hope that you continue to bless us with your amazing writing!! 🥺💗💗
hiii friend!!!! yes!!! i definitely think gojo short circuits when he gets flustered but manages to play it off bc rip!mc is just oblivious and doesn't really get it. i think gojo's a very introspective character but when it comes actually outwardly expressing his feelings things get lost (and that's being generous he was probably a tsundere in hs and i STAND by that 😭)
gojo would be extra touchy and clingy and kinda unbearable but i think people like him that way lmfao
also im so glad u brought up it being shoujo-esque because I DID intentionally make things shoujo-esque bc the potential is wayyy too underrated i think there should be more shoujo moments. they're highschoolers when else can i make things excruciatingly shoujo-esque!!!
as for the pun it's when gojo's talking geto into staying a little longer (so riko can play) and talks about how there are less 'fishy' (roughly translated??) curse users in okinawa than tokyo. and he makes a pun by combining the word 海人 (uminchu = fisherman) and curse user 呪詛師 (jujoshi) into 呪詛人 (jusonchu) which is basically gojo making a joke abt fisherman and curse users lmao but i guess that wouldn't really make sense translated but they could've just used 'fishy' which is the most straight forward translation you'll get (BUT THEY DIDN'T!!)

Uh alright so
I really wanna start writing character x reader fanfics + post some of my original pieces ofc
But I don't know which one I should start with
Or if I should just drop a piece out of nowhere and wait for the magic poof
Scratch that
I have absolutely no idea where to start
(;_;)
I promise you, I felt the exact same way when I joined Tumblr. I wish I could tell you some big secret to gaining followers and getting high engagement on your posts. But I don’t have one. I can, however, tell you what’s worked for me and share some general tips that might be helpful.
• It can be hard to choose what to post first. But I would suggest taking a look at what you’ve written and figuring out which stories you’re most excited about. It feels riskier to post something that’s close to your heart — and it is. But people can tell when they’re reading something you truly enjoyed writing, and that feeling? It’s awesome.
• Not to get sidetracked, but I firmly believe that writing what you want to write is important. It can be fun to take requests, but if you decide to do that, try to find a balance between writing for others and writing for yourself. (You can also turn down requests if they’re outside your comfort zone or just not something you want to write.)
• When it comes to posting, definitely take some time to consider the tags you want to use. These are really important, because they help other users see your post in search results. If it helps, you can look at top posts in a fandom search and look at the types of tags they use. Here’s what I usually do:
Tumblr media
• I do recommend using trigger warning tags. And from my experience, tagging things with NSFW blocks them from showing up under tags. That being said, if you’re a minor, don’t write or interact with 18+ content. And if you’re over 18 and writing NSFW stuff, provide warnings and let readers know what they’re getting into.
• You don’t need to include graphics or different fonts unless you want to. I like using Canva to create banners for my fics, events, and other posts. But including things like that doesn’t make or break your post. What matters most is the actual content.
• If you’re posting anything longer than a few paragraphs, I highly recommend using a read more cut. (I always insert mine on desktop because I’ve never gotten it to work on my phone.) If people are invested, they’ll click the link and keep reading. And you avoid clogging up people’s dashes, which is nice.
• Once you start finding and following other creators, don’t be scared to interact with them. Likes are good, but try to leave comments, reblog, send in asks for Q&A games or just to say hello. If you’re an introverted person like me, it might feel like a constant challenge. But I’ve made some incredible friends in this community, and I know you can, too.
• Most importantly, HAVE FUN. Write what makes you happy, whether it’s a fic, some headcanons, a few short drabbles, anything! It’s so easy to overthink it, but it’s your blog. Never feel bad for writing something short, or not posting as often as other people do. And try not to put yourself down. You have stories to tell. Lots of them. And you can do it in a way that only you can, so you absolutely should. 😊

One of the greatest tragedies in Bloodlines was that they had to abandon the Ivashkinator before we had a sydrian sex scene in it

Adrian Ivashkov: You’re a solid person, Sage. You’re easy on the eyes, if a little skinny, and your ability to memorize useless information is going to totally hook in some guy.
Also Adrian Ivashkov, around 3 minutes later, after putting on his clown makeup: “My God, Sage. Your eyes. How have I never noticed them?” That uncomfortable feeling was spreading over me again. “What about them?” “The color,” he breathed. “When you stand in the light. They’re amazing . . . like molten gold. I could paint those . . .” He reached toward me but then pulled back. “They’re beautiful. You’re beautiful.”

The end goal of representation politics, as flawed as it can be, isn't to abolish acting and to have characters only be played by people exactly like them. There's a specific history of oppression that makes certain things problematic. That's why whitewashing is a thing and blackwashing is not.
Cultural erasure is sad and disappointing, but the reason people don't treat it as something as bad as whitewashing is because it's categorically not, it does not have nearly the same history of violence attached to it.
The US doesn't have a history of minstrel shows about eastern Europeans. There isn't a problem with lack of pale skin representation. If what you're interested in is pale skin and not actually a complex portrayal of Slavic cultures, there's plenty of content for you out there.
There can be perfectly valid and respectful critiques, expressed politely. Russians have actually being demonized on Western media, so I understand wishing for a Russian actor, I did too. But it's more a matter of authenticity in the portrayal, having a different type of white guy play Dimitri is not whitewashing. But you can be wary about how good a job he can do, certainly.
As for Rose, I wish her Turkish ethnicity had been actually represented, and you can be black and have Turkish heritage at the same time. That would have been cool, but it's not the actress' background as far as I know. I don't know if casting would be different under different circumstances, without covid restrictions, but it is what it is. I wished she had been Turkish in the movie too, but I still watched it, and I think Sisi will make a beautiful Rose.
To be honest, a lot of Turkish people look white to me, but if their experience is racialized in the US I won't erase that. But I think they look white to a lot of people who are raging right now too, because lots of them are much more focused on the exact shade of Rose's skin than in her actual heritage, funny that. Or they're praising white actresses who are also not Turkish at all. Very intriguing. The things people will pretend to care about in order to dress up their racism in social justice language are astonishing.
And Lissa was never albino, btw. Would be cool to have more rep for that, but she wasn't it. Most other characters are American, and they're descended from Europeans because that's how white Americans work, it's stolen land, they aren't native to it.
Hopefully the writers of the show will do alot of research and know what they're talking about, and portray the slavic inspiration of the books in the respectful and complex way these beautiful cultures deserve.
But you know what other culture the books draw heavily from too? You know what these books written by an American woman that deal with racism as one of their central themes also take inspiration from? The culture and oppressive structures of the country she lived in her whole life.
The oppression suffered by dhampirs is very related to racism and specially antiblackness/misogynoir experienced by people in real life, so using their plight for inspiration while featuring next to no black people in the books isn't great. I'm happy they're changing that at least, it's an improvement. I think the themes of the books could be enhanced by these choices.
The same way, if we get to Bloodlines, if you're gonna have a conversion therapy inspired plot you should have more queer rep. If the main couple draws from the struggles faced by interracial and queer couples, there should be more representation.
The cast looks beautiful and I need to see them actually acting to know if they're good. You're allowed to care about external descriptions of the characters. But in my opinion capturing the spirit of the character is much more important, and real life sociopolitics should be taken into account.
You can't please everyone, and you're never gonna get exactly what's in your head. But most of the fandom is grown adults now, and you should be able to handle disappointment without having a breakdown or harassing anyone. Keep things civil.

Sydney Sage's actual job was to Gaslight people so she could Gatekeep the supernatural world, and she was a total Girlboss! Meaning she looked strong and hypercompetent, but she was part of an organization that was ultimately very problematic and that was doing some evil things like torture
Adrian Ivashkov: Manwhore, Manipulate, Malewife. Self-explanatory.

I love this, and I always have to spend at least half an hour searching every time I want to see it, so I'm posting it.
Bonus, also from Richelle's Twitter:

I'd love to know how the New Year's Eve party and Sydney's surprise party went ^_^
Did Adrian find a way to fake getting arrested? Did he go out and get himself arrested for real? Did Sydney know the whole time? We'll never know.

Hey, you don't need to apologize to Muraki-Anon. I get that they're sad to see someone doesn't like their fave. But they also can STOP RRADING your post once they see the post is not about singing the man's praises. Changing your tag to 'the councilor' is just going to make people that want to see your bad end akira vs Muraki content struggle to find it. I can't control what you do in the end, but please don't beat yourself up over somone who can't stop reading when they don't like the book.
thank you 🥺 i got this ask and a couple dms from people with the same opinion on this issue, and truthfully it is hard for me to decide what to do in this case because of this problem with tagging. tumblr used to have a system where the first five tags made the post appear in those tags and on the poster’s blog, while the next ten after that were blog-only - this made it easy to organize your blog effectively while also avoid a tag if you were posting hate, criticism, hot takes, or just plain old silly stuff you didn’t care to clog a tag with. because...i’m in the camp that tagging hate is kind of rude - like when i look in a character tag, i don’t want to see hate of that character as i track the tag bc i love them. also, being INCREDIBLY sensitive, i know how bad it feels when you see someone bashing a fav and i don’t want to make anyone feel that way. BUT on the other hand, i again don’t consider my posts to be hate - i just have a different view of maruki, who is a character i genuinely like and enjoy, but who i also view as having deep flaws that other characters should be able to be upset or angry with. like. there is good reason to have friction between him and the thieves, and he’s not an innocent party despite his understandable and even sympathetic motivations. SO i’m sort of stuck on what to do as i don’t want to make anyone feel bad, but also like you said, i want my blog to remain easy to navigate and accessible, which can be troublesome with custom tags. maybe i should just tag anything like that with “maruki crit” too instead of changing the maruki tag, so that people have something to blacklist but it also keeps my posts managed for my blog? really tho, i wish people felt more comfortable just hitting the block button for this kind of thing sdfjhdfg honestly, i’ve blocked several ppl for posting hate or even just personally upsetting content in character tags before, and it’s such an easy way of making myself feel safe and happy again when browsing that tag. i think people don’t want to, like they feel it’s rude or a big deal or even weak (???) to do so, but i don’t mind if someone wants to block me for posting content they dislike or even just disagree with. that’s literally a big reason blocking exists, to curate an experience and feel happy going into your fandom space. but bc of the way i am...asking someone else to do the work feels like imposing sdfjhf SO maybe as a compromise i’ll be tagging with “maruki crit” from now on as i think my posts do fall under that fairly, but it allows me to preserve the character tag to keep my blog tidy
