Media and Government: A Love-Hate Relationship
Tumblr media
Dating back from the ancient civilizations, there is a system of government and different forms of media. Obviously, as the world evolves and continues to change, different societal institutions were affected by the various changes of the world. As the people continue to strive and adapt, big institutions like government and media are no exception for that as they need to be open and versatile in any circumstances. As we are living in a modernized and highly advanced generation, people have 24/7 access to different information, especially on government data. Ever since it started, the rise of a love-hate relationship between media and government started to spring. The romance between the two institutions starts to blur when the media has something to do that makes a bad image to the government, and the affair blooms when it is the opposite.
It is understandable to say that a love-hate relationship exists in both government and the media, as it is indisputably true that it is simple to identify concepts that cause them to love and hate each other. In a basic sense, the government has the ability to control any type of institution; they have the ability to manipulate information and alter data, or as the famous line goes, fake news. From that perspective, the relationship between the two parties begins to deteriorate because it is unethical and morally wrong, as well as contradicting the sole purpose of media, which is to ensure that credible, accurate, and fact-based information will only be implemented to the public. On the bright side at least, love is still present in both the media and the government, as they work together to provide real-time information, keeping us up to date on both international and local events, which plays a significant role in making us a part of the society as a whole.

“Media and Government: A Love-Hate Relationship”
Tumblr media
The Relationship between  government and media are unpredictable, the role of the media in relation with the politics is very practical and serious, these modern times, social media’s influence efficacy is at its highest peak, so influential that even in the darkest corners of the world are manipulated and been informed, government structure and governance are done with a very strategic way, every elections of candidacy, the most powerful and influential tool and weapon they used is the media, media can change the whole perspective of the people, including the ignorant, educated ones and the whole remaining population, the human race competition in politics and governance are been part of our life and society, the whole system won’t work, broken plans and economy is the result of the presence of a broken political governance, yet there is a irony at the back of the story line, media might be the worst enemy of the government also the media in their main weapon towards their aim and goal. The government cannot stop criticizing social media companies for failing to combat 'fake news' and abuse, and they play the fall guy to make politicians look strong. However, the sufficient competent using all media tools because it opens up communication possibilities that they could only have imagined previously. The government values the media for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is its ability to help them engage directly with constituents. Instead of focusing on local issues and facilitating dialogue, the parties can't help but consider all of the ways that social media can be used to inform people about their positions and to attack foes. Unfortunately, as the general election progresses, some of the techniques employed appear unethical – or at the very least, uncertain. Even before the election began. During elections, authorities become hypersensitive to social media, which explains the rather absurd steps taken to halt any news that is critical of the party in power. Without the presence of the social media, government propagandas, influence and dissemination of their presence won't exist, these today's generation and systematic way of living, the media has been the main ingredient of our life, every action we do, plans we think, and event we had, media has been our update to do in life, if these influence of the media is used by the government to achieve their main goal, a massive chances is waiting at the end of their tunnel.

Media and Government: A Love-Hate Relationship
Tumblr media
Governments all over the world make policies that affect citizens in a variety of ways. Citizens typically have a perspective on the success of social media and the high levels of participation allow for public debate on how governments work and the policies they initiate or implement. Government, its agencies, and organizations also have recognized how impactful this medium can be for interacting with citizens for soliciting feedback, raising awareness about various initiatives, constructing a participatory governance system, and so forth. These issues, and some choose to express theirs through various mediums such as news and print media, public polls, rallies, petitions, and, increasingly, social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. As people on social media, we are all aware that we spend a lot of time, if any, seeking to determine whether a well-known news outlet's website is genuine or not. Our relying on everything we find on the web makes it more vulnerable to such fraud, and our ignorance provides a window of opportunity for governments to manipulate information to influence the public's perception.
Through the media, politics gain more advantage. With the use of social media, politics can take advantage of this and use it for many different reasons. The use of social media in politics refers to the use of online social media platforms in political processes and activities. Social networks not only have the ability to change news, but also have the ability to change the dynamics of political corruption, values and political conflicts. Through the electoral process, global conflicts and extreme politics with the use of social media in China, diplomacy around the world has become less private and susceptible to public perception. With the use of social media, political candidates can also use these platforms to gain more votes in their upcoming election for politicians. Social media is a very helpful tool in many ways. Media and Government: A Love-Hate Relationship
Tumblr media
Ever since the beginning, the media and government have mutually loved and hated one another. The government does its thing, whereas the community publicly scrutinizes their every action. Although such operations may be beneficial for one another, the government gaining exposure and the media being able to express their thoughts, it is also mutually destructive. Over the years, the media has kept an eye on the faults of public figures. It has happened multiple times to garner itself a name: Cancel culture. As the government's main priority is to care for the people, they are no exception. Criticism in itself has a fruitful, enriching, and constructive effect. It brings light to different problems and allows others to think of possible solutions. There are times, however, when the media crosses the line of what the government deems acceptable. When criticism becomes nitpicky, giving too much attention to unimportant details, tensions quickly rise between both parties.
Multiple notable instances display the love-hate relationship between the media and government. Politics is one the most well-known and the most controversial among these topics. Whenever there is an election for a government position, the media proves to be an active participant regardless of country. The media benefits by learning and expressing their opinions about the politicians who hold the country, whereas the government or politicians profit by learning about their enemies and gaining public exposure. However, when these benefits allow each party to become excessive, that is when things become worrying.  Some situations like the media becoming nitpicky while the government does questionable things may occur more often. In this modern age, social media is a powerful thing many have access to today. Social media is a place where one can share their opinions, and others can look back on it. With this power, multiple scandals and exposures may happen. In the end, the media and the government affect each other in both good and bad ways. The relationship between them is both mutually helpful and destructive. One we all consider being a love-hate relationship that is full of drama.

“Media and Government: A Love-Hate Relationship”
Tumblr media
Politicians value social media platforms for a couple of reasons because of its capability to help them in their advantage. Social media amends them when it comes to informing people about their position and also to attack potential opponents. Since the election is coming we would definitely see ads of politicians in televisions and other social media platforms like Facebook and such. But social media can also ravage the image of politicians by criticizing them with fake news and fake informations. It is widely rampant now and different parties are doing this for their own benefits. The media would gladly have an advantage when it comes to it because they can profit and gain views. The Government often reprehend media companies for not taking down unwanted issues that can destroy their image but they can't raise rebellion against media. Due to the fact that the majority of the population are using social media platforms.
Media play different various in our lives, we can use it in everyday activities, if you have a business you can post it on all your social media accounts, you can advertise all your products. Politics is one of the examples there, if there is a politician who has issues and it has been gathered all over social media, media can they take it down, they can make it appear that it is not true and only false information even if the truth is actually correct this and there are proofs. The media is also one of the great benefit to you when it comes to politics, you can persuade people there about your advocacy when you win. The media is one of the ways to campaign, to persuade people to vote for you because you have plan to enter the world of politics. The media can manipulate us, using the media there are tendencies that they can make us believe things that are not really true, false information perhaps. They can release information easily based on things that are not meaningful so there are people who can really believe because they can easily believe information that has no real sources.

Media and Government: A Love-Hate Relationship
Media and Government holds the greatest power in our society. Both can manipulate the society and their love-hate relationship affects the whole nation thus, it can cause immense chaos. One great example of this love-hate relation between both parties is the ABS-CBN shutdown issue last 2020. The government was not glad with what the TV station has been reporting so the action that the government made was to dig the flaws ABS-CBN made in the past. On the other hand, another TV station, GMA, reports news in the favor of the President. This happening caused the views of people to stir. The speculations that a media outlet who reports in favor of the government and sugarcoats their statement receives bribe while another media outlet that reports news based on facts is speculated to support the other political party. Due to lack of transparency, these are only rumors.
As we see, the government favors the media outlet where they can get something, where they can benefit while the opposite happens to the media outlet who opposes the government’s agenda. The government utilizes their authority to deprive our countrymen the democracy we deserve. Main reason for this is either the government has absolute flaws where people can easily condemn them in a snap. With the government at the upper hand, the people won’t have a say. They’ll equip the law and use it against the media that opposes them. So much for democracy, the media we are provided today has already been manipulated. The news these media outlets release to the general public is like the criteria if they will be a target or an ally of the government. It is up to our perspective whether we believe every sugarcoated statement in our media or wake up to the reality of how manipulated it is.

“Media and Government: A Love-Hate Relationship”
Tumblr media
The media and government play a vital role in civilization. Government associates on media to communicate with the people that have a thorough impact on public access in the means of communication for disseminating information. Although these two have their functions, there is something that connects them and that is the people. It is believed that the media is on the lookout for the transactions and actions of the government. From the existence of the media and government, there is what we called a love-hate relationship between them. Nowadays, there are lots of scenarios in which the love-hate relationship between the media and government has. Government officials or anyone who is involved in the world of politics used to love or hate media depending on the situation that they are into. An example of it is that they love to use media to gain more popularity especially if there is something that makes their names more known for something good that happened in society, and they hate media for exposing something bad about them such as their involvement in corruption and any other forms of unlawful actions.
Although at some point media was just used for personal purposes rather than for the benefit of the community. The use of media continues to rely on the government because there is also something that people can get out of it. There are lots of people who get easily believe in what they see or hear from the media, some exploitative individuals use this platform to gain money and for them, it does not matter if the information that they distribute to people is a fact or just fiction. These things resulted in so many disadvantages of the easy access and spread of information through the use of media platforms. Is there something that we could do to eradicate this love-hate relationship between media and government, and the exploitative actions from politicians and media users? Honestly, we are being desensitized with these things we already knew, but we tend to take action because, for us, media and government are inconsistent in their relationship with one another.

“Media and Government: A Love-Hate Relationship”
In this world, there are always things that are hard to balance or put together, and one of these is the relationship between Media and Government. Media has been a society’s voice. There are various media channels and sorts. Like a well-known researcher claims, Marshall McLuhan that “ The importance of media is so great, the medium is the message. There can be no communication if there is no channel.” Only after a message has been transmitted can society assess if it is good or terrible. The over-commercialization of media and the hype around it is not a positive trend that we see today. When it comes to the interaction between media and society, media gives voice to the voiceless. The most potent democratic pillar. Democracy cannot exist without the media, and the media itself is a form of democracy. Media, society, and government are always related to each other.
When it comes to the interaction between media and society, media gives voice to the voiceless. The most powerful democratic pillar. Democracy cannot exist without the media, and the media itself is a crucial source of democracy.Even law and order can be maintained in society. That is why we,the people needs information that shows facts. However, still there are a lot of people who tries to write false information which affects peoples thinking towards the news that the media are informing .The media changes to meet the needs of society. If media does not work in accordance with societal needs, it will lose its relevance and become obsolete. Take, for example, the rise of social media. Social media arose as a result of the primary .Nonetheless, social media made a direct connection with a common person in society. It gave society a tool to express themselves and hold up a mirror to the mainstream media. We can see that even the most powerful and influential members of the mainstream media are using social media to search for their identity and existence. In conclusion the image that is shown tells us that no matter how the government try to use media in a proper way to help people, there will always be a hindrance which symbolises the trolls, since trolls are people who creat fake news to the people and creates chaos. With this we should be reminded that things we can't force any relationship to be balance and look good if the real thing isn't.

“Media and Government: A Love-Hate Relationship”
Tumblr media
The Media and the Government. These two are the most paramount institutions in the world. Both of these foundations are constructed for us, for the people. They have the abilities to twist our minds and to deviate us from our very own principles. It's as if their word is our law, and rightfully so. Thus, the relationship between the media and the government has a profound impact in our society. They are both interdependent with one another. A community without press is impossible to inhabit. Governments rely on the media to maintain a regulatory power. And well, one can not deny that the latter has the higher form of authority. Therefore all these years, their bond has been shaky and discordant. Hence, the term called "the love-hate relationship" comes in. A constant tug-of-war between two preeminent institute.
Undoubtedly, both have functions in our society. But these days, especially amidst this pandemic, the media and the government have been trying to find a middle ground. The government does its own thing and the media, per usual, reaches out to the public. Now this may seem stipendiary for both sides, but on multiple occasions, it can be veritably ruinous. You see, the media regularly puts the government under perusal from the public which creates tension. In turn, the latter enforces its authority, damaging the freedom of press. However, as the elections are approaching, it seems they have no choice but to "love each other" again - as they gain their own benefits out of this substantial event. Ostensibly, this cycle will remain unceasing. An endless back-and-forth shoving, and the citizens will remain manipulated and unknowing.

“Media and Government: A Love-Hate Relationship”
Tumblr media
Filipinos spend virtually all of their time in front of the television, especially in light of the present crisis. Different parts of Philippine media adapt to the interests of local audiences. Aspects of media include television stations, FM and AM radio stations, and newspapers. In terms of effectiveness, the media plays a significant part in assisting individuals. They inform the public and serve as the people's voice to the government. If we apply that concept to what is now taking place, the ideal illustration is the government's press conferences, where spokesman Harry Roque will answer questions from the media, inquiries that are either from the public or based on what they are experiencing. People regularly seek information from the government on issues affecting the Country and solutions to these concerns. In today's government, journalists who fail to do their jobs effectively and without bias are criticized and advised before being penalized.
The Love-Hate Relationship between Media and Government has a positive and negative impact on the community. In today’s generation, most people now rely on social media, especially those people who are politicians. Through the media, people can be updated on any situations that are happening and also information from the government. Humans are very active, the satisfying part is that people actively share information because people know it is right. Another thing is people can see directly what politicians do to sustain his or her followers or companions that are beneficial. It is accurate that the media and the government also have a hate relationship. Noticing in any sources that there are lots of wrong labeling about a person or an event, and people assume that it is true, and criticism occurs. Most of the time people accuse social media because of uploading some unreal or fake posts just to get attention from others. These posts will also be seen by the government, and the government will state their dialogues and spread it through social media. And thousands of opinions will appear and result in misunderstanding to all the people in the community.

Media and Government: A Love-Hate Relationship
Tumblr media
There is what we call a love-hate relationship between the media and the government. There are so many ways why politicians loves the media. First is their good reputation, which can be easily recognized for their efforts. Politicians and government officials somehow love the media because it is a tool of communication which they are not capable of doing themselves. Hate relationship on the other hand, the media sometimes are publishing fake news so that the government would take action against it. Even today, the media and the government still have this love-hate relationship. But at the end of the day, they still need each other in order to gain information and make profit from it. The government needs the media to tell the country what they have done good, so that they can have a good record and many more people will support and vote for them in the future elections. On the other hand, the media continues to rely on the government because this is where they make the most money out of it. It could be by spreading good or negative news, or even fake news.
Some media thinks it doesn't matter what information they spread, as long as they are making lots of money from it, especially from the scandalous acts from the government. There are also media who have the values of integrity and honesty to serve their people, which is what we really need. Even though the relationship between the media and the government in our country is not perfect, we still need them to cooperate for the people of this country. Filipinos depends on them, their lives depend on them. Governments helps, and guides us, and the media alerts and gives us important information that can save our lives. We need them both no matter what. Without media, we wouldn’t be able to be notified or alerted about what’s happening today in our world, and without our government, who would be there to discipline us and lead us to the right path? At some points, the media and the government tends to conflict with each other.

Tumblr media
Over some time, many believe that idea of speaking out will help us developed our country and conformed social and political change. Not just the social world but it can also offer a sense of inner development. Disclosing individual mind of voicing out without fear of being censored or persecuted. But the world has changed and it gives us a phenomenon of threat to human rights as the Anti-Terror bill was signed into law on August 11, 2020. The media is in deep and serious reserved emotions at that time; perhaps demoralized by the decision made by the national affairs and President as well. There are instances upon discoursing the entire view of freedom of speech. It guarantees the citizens to express their thoughts and dissenting point of view. Especially the journalist as it affects press freedom. In which, it has no retaliation and gives the right to function freely. The fact that it is not an absolute right simply implies the protection for free thought and individual expression that covers satire everything political campaigns to conversations in your home. What is important here is that, as we engaged in this system, the higher officials and the government shouldn’t come up with a decision that violates us especially the rights that we deserve. For exemplar, we ought to be free when it comes to exchanging information.
Once higher positions take all the power and authority, petitions and voices will be unheard immediately. It’s just sad, a simple thing that a person can do will be discarded due to some reasons. In-the-run up of everything, voices will be heard and choices will matter if they will give us the same amount of fairness. This is now so much to the bad. If a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it: does it make a sound? If human rights are abused and no one knows: how does anyone stop it? Well, if our voices aren’t heard yet we can still do something. As freedom of expression underpins a wide variety of human rights, let’s just hope for something good to show up that no one will be harmed. If we aren’t allowed to tell stories, opinions, and thoughts we just have to simply take active participation in being aware of what’s happening with their system. Never be afraid to advocate and hold governments to the human rights standards so as the freedom of expression. If the love-hate relationship is possible between the government and media, then the stigma of shutting down the voice of media must be empowered more to oust the brutality inside a balls-up government system.

The connection between media and government has twists and turns. One relies on the other, and the same goes for the other. Nowadays, media became a great influence for information and expression, and that can either be from the government itself or its nation and people. It has been considered as one of the most powerful channels of democratic accountability. Media can be the greatest weapon the government could acquire but it can be its biggest foe, knowing how rampant misinformation is in this age. An eye-opener as well, as social media rises, the youth now uses freedom of the press against governance that creates fuss between the media and politics. The media and the government have a complicated relationship. As a tool, the government uses the media to spread the information necessary to educate and reach all of the citizens in the country. However, it has become a likely enemy of the government sometimes due to its inaccuracies of information dissemination, whether it be for someone or some groups' vested interest, or just bad information perception. Oftentimes, the media has been viewing the government in the wrong light on purpose, allowing people to lose faith in the government. While sometimes it is beneficial to the citizens to be aware of the government's inability to address certain issues, it doesn't necessarily mean they're not doing anything or are useless.
The government has its flaws and, although it isn't perfect, it strives to deliver the best for its people. However, knowing the government's weakness puts the media in a position to spread false allegations against the government, taking advantage of it. This is such a powerful move since the media has always been in control of what the people perceive. They're the outlet of government information. Not a lot of media outlets choose to report any accurate and informative data that the government has or is providing to strengthen their people's trust, rather they choose to broadcast every single mistake. Naturally, as citizens, we don't completely expect that the government is perfect. Nevertheless, misinformed citizens fall for this trap, lead them to question the government's agenda, and lose trust. It is not necessarily a bad thing to be skeptical of the government, but we also have to be aware that not everything that is shown or said in the media is entirely true, nor that it is entirely false, and that we have to do our research as well. While I/we believe that the media is only doing its job, it shouldn't be used for reasons other than to deliver truthful information because people are relying on the information they give on behalf of the government. The government knows that the media has been altering legitimate information for whatever reasons thus, in turn, doubt its capability as a broadcaster of information. This, I/we think, gives these two a perplexing relationship.
POST #2: Caption:  Media played a pivotal role in our lives. We were able to connect to other people across all networks. It serves us entertainment, education, and news. Communication has been made a lot easier and information became widely accessible. Overall, the quality of life has improved. Nevertheless, we have etiquette and things we have to consider as users of media. We need to be cautious in creating information and deliver informed messages, and this is what it takes to be a media and information literate individual. As one, we will be able to evaluate the contents posted on social media and their sources critically. Its importance is as valuable as the media itself. We all now rely on the media facing our new normal, we hold responsibility to be educated and effective media and information literate individuals.
We will be able to create a more secure and informative online environment for others as a result of our media and information literacy. This will also encourage other media users to do the same. This is also beneficial because, as a media and information literate individual, we become a source and translator of current information into media and are able to collaborate with others by using or sharing the information. We might be able to work with others to take actions that will improve the world. It includes the ability to learn how to think critically and possibly it increases to become proficiency student in terms of communication that it may help to grow their thoughts and ideas in a wide range.

“Media and Government: A Love-Hate Relationship”
It is indisputable that the media has completely taken over every element of life. Indeed, it is everywhere, as time goes on and as the globe turns. All aspects develop along with this, as does the reach and impact of media. Strong in contact and connection and conveying and delivering information, media is genuinely such a mighty instrument and medium. It is now time when media is more prominent when individuals are free to express themselves in public when public debate is unshackled. This may be a luxury and liberty for all of us, but unfortunately, there will always be a wrong side to any privilege. The facts here illustrate the conflicted relationship between the media and the government. If the public can rely on anything, it is the media and the government. On the one hand, these two strong factions have a love-hate relationship; on the other, however, they also work closely together. We use the media as a link between the public and current events. They are powerful because they can control everything that we view or read, including news stories and articles. The government serves as our country's leaders, and because of this, they also have a significant influence on us.
Filipinos, unfortunately, spend most of their time on media nowadays, which compounds our present media problem. Media in the Philippines is made up of several elements that serve the interests of the country's population. Aspects of media include television stations, FM and AM radio stations, short-wave stations, and newspapers. Media has a crucial influence on people's ability to do their jobs. They make news available to the general public, and they serve as the people's voice for the government. The ideal illustration of associating a concept to what is now occurring is when the fears about the proliferation of false news on the internet are also important for governments, politicians, companies, and people alike. The topic of political and media struggle for power is examined extensively. Culminating in those actions are functions that keep officials informed about current events, keeping them up to date on the concerns of the general public, allowing them to tell their messages to political elites both within and outside of government, and also letting them maintain their prominent positions in the public eye.
