Media have played an important role in our lives, whether it be Print, Broadcast or New media. It has given us unlimited access to a variety of information across the globe. It provides us a fresh perspective of the outside world everyday; it has given us the power to think critically. In addition to this, it educated us of what had happened in the past, and how us—present people—can correct the mistakes or improve the system everyday. Our hunger for information has led us to become what we are right now. People in the ancient times were creative in passing information to the next generation: from talking, to making music, to writing in paper tablets, drawing in walls, building machineries, to creating technologies. All these were steps taken just to be able to communicate and gather information, and every step taken was crucial just to reach the present stage of Media.
Media is basically like a person, it is evolving and growing to become better. And as time goes on, it will continue to prosper and innovate. Every day, fascinating things happen all throughout the world. Every day is jam-packed with information. People learn about the current events by reading newspapers and periodicals, conversing on the phone, or watching television or listening to the radio, or surfing the internet. And it clearly shows that the printed, broadcasted, and new media plays not only an important role in our lives, but also in our society. “Understand the Relevance of Information Literacy in the Midst of Social Era”
Information, one of the most important thing that can help us to function in a society, provide ourselves with a sufficient amount of knowledge, create in us an individual that can be of service to people in need of information too. As time went on, information played a big role in our society and to the world in general. The fact that we use information in our daily lives to know something or analyze something shows just how important it is to be a critical-thinking individual, especially in this social era where information is overwhelming, and where information has to be proven credible and true due to the amount of people spreading fraud or fake information. Being an information literate in this social era is relevant because we use information to help, share and interact with others using certain information to create what we call A social network where people can share their ideas in a specific community or society.
As information progressed and changed, society came along with it. The relevance between the two (Information Literacy and the Social Era) will contribute not only to a specific amount of people but to those who will be needing it in the future as well. The people we are talking about might be by students, adults, workers, and many more who needs them. Thanks to being an information literate, we can identify and solve problems in this social era by using certain types of information that can help us recognize biases, non-context texts and effectively use information around us. This can also be relevant because we can use information to create jobs and give endless opportunities to people that doesn’t have a sustainable job or to those who weren’t able to attain education. As we release reliable information in a media, we can create a community that can trust us with reliable information, and here, social era comes in to the frame along with information literacy, because information can be passed down, thus leading us to a better understanding with one another.

“Media and Government : A Love-Hate Relationship”
As time progressed, we humans tend to change and adapt to things, especially when technology came. Thanks to the technology that humans created, we made communication from one another much easier and more accessible. Media is the major thing that made our society going and revolving around today, so is the government. The two had a love-hate relationship, because of the fact that some people use social media or media as a whole to criticize. As we see it today, these two powerful institutions have the power to manipulate the world, hence if we don’t have media, we won’t be notified on what’s happening to the world and we would be missing out on the problems, same as to the government, without the government, we would be in a huge mess because the government helps us to stay in the right path and discipline us people to make the society a better place for everyone.
As time progressed, these two had a conflict to the point that both sides would fight each other through media, and that’s concerning because yet again a lot of people are being manipulated since most of the people now are using media, hence this will result to people posting their opinions on social media where we call them netizens today. Although politicians and the government uses media to do some campaigns, warnings, advisories and open up communication to a whole different level, government views media as a source to gain money as well but when it comes to issues like the opinion of every individual then it creates a problem. For example, ads that promotes them; this can be abused and hence manipulate people to vote for them. They can also abuse and change information given to the society as a whole to benefit themselves, and then the media strikes back by giving ill comments about them which tenses up the two institutions. We should remember the saying “Think before you click”, it will help people to decide whether to post their opinion on social media where it can affect a lot of people in general, so let’s just respect each other because the government can’t lead it’s people to the right path without the support of its people, hence it needs a helping hand and that is the media.
