how did you get so good at drawing? Like seriously I’m trying so hard to get better and I put in the effort as well but it seems like no matter how hard I practice I just don’t get any better? maybe it has something to do with talent that I sadly wasn’t born with haha but I absolutely love your art !

Lots and lots and lots of practice. 😅🙈 I've always loved drawing ever since I was a kid 💖✨ I think I began drawing more manga oriented stuff when I was about 12 or 13 🤔🤔 But there were some longer breaks in between during high school and university years, when I didn't draw at all. I really started to draw more seriously again when I was around 22-23. It was around that time when I switched to digital and I stuck to it ever since, because it suited me better than traditional. And well.. that was 10 years ago!! 😅😳😬🙈 It was a hobby for me at first but I draw partly professionally nowadays as a freelancer. (I think I mentioned it before, but this here is a side blog) The discussion about talent is always a very complex thing. But here is my personal take on it. Imo talent can help you to learn faster, grasp certain things or skills easier. But in the end talent will get you nowhere if you don't practice. It can help, but without the hard work to back it up, it won't do anything. And about being stuck.. I feel that very much!! 😅😭 It took me literal years before I was even remotely satisfied with my own art style 😅😅🙈🙈 I failed many many many times before I arrived where I am today. I hated my own drawings. I struggled with anatomy, perspective, clothes... (I still hate fabric folds with a passion 🤣🤣🤣🔥🔥🔥💥💥) etc etc etc. I also still struggle with things today. They are just different, new struggles than a few years ago 😂🙈 I also felt so stuck with my art progress at several points.. Especially about 5 years ago. That is something very normal I think. It's totally ok! 💖 Art progress doesn't happen in a linear way, but it has its ups and downs, its waves and its increments. But in the end what is most important is to keep on going! 💪💪🔥🔥💖💖 Don't get me wrong.. I don't want to intimidate anyone by throwing out those numbers.. but I want to give you a relation, if that makes sense. 🤔🤔🤔 Ngl it might take many years to reach a point where you are happy with your own art. And it will be a shit ton of hard work. But! I truly believe that you can do it!! 💖💖💖💖💖 Just keep on going! Keep on practicing! Even when it's hard. Even when you feel like it's all hopeless. It's not! 🔥🔥🔥💪💪💪 Sometimes it will take a while before you will be able to see your own progress, but it will happen!! ✨✨✨✨ Some more technical tips at the end: Use references!! I can't stress this part enough 😂😂 They are so important and absolutely necessary to learn and grow! I am still using tons of them even now. Look at tutorials, watch how other people draw stuff. Draw studies. Look at your environment with open eyes. Stop every now and then just to look at things and analyse them. How does this plant look? How does this hoodie fold when you move your arms? How does your hand look when you hold a pair of scissors? Take your own pictures as a base to draw! Like.. no joke. Watch and learn! 💖💖💖 Ok! Last point! I absolutely suck at making tutorials and honestly there are sooo many of them out there already on Youtube or Deviantart etc etc. BUT! If there is anything that you see in my drawings and you want to know how I do it, you can always ask me 😊💖 I will try my best to explain it 🙈💪🔥 HRRRRRRRR!!! I have no idea if that helped anybody 🤣🤣🙈🙈🙈 But this is my very honest answer to your ask 💖💖💖💖💖

Queering Your F/M Jaune Ships Part 1: Pride of the Roses

With this series, I am embarking on a quest to make F/M ships involving Jaune as queer as can be, because there’s not enough of it IMO. First stop is War of the Roses, done in lieu of Lancaster and Whiteknight separately because I like the polyam ship a bit more. Plus I think Weiss deserves two dorks at once. Enjoy!

Weiss was conflicted.

On one hand, she was ecstatic to get to go to Pride for the first time, especially with her boyfriend and girlfriend. Over the course of the past year, she’d (sorta) figured out her sexuality, acquired two lovely partners, and had even been exploring her gender (which was still a work-in-progress).

On the other hand, from how Ruby and Jaune described it, Pride sounded so intimidating. So many people, so much singing and chanting and noise, all under the hot Vale summer sun. It sounded like the worst sensory environment imaginable. Ruby and Jaune were well aware of Weiss’ aversion to such conditions, but Weiss had insisted that she could do this. She wanted to experience this, to be a part of something she had never been a part of before. She wouldn’t let the fear of sensory discomfort get in the way of that. Or at least she would try her best. 

“If at any point it gets to be too much,” Jaune reminded her as he lounged on their bed, “just tell us, okay?”

“Yeah,” Ruby agreed as she pulled on the tank top she had rainbow tie-dyed the day before. “It can get pretty wild, so just say the word and we can go hang out at that one coffee shop you like instead.”

Weiss chuckled at her partners’ displays of concern for her. It made her feel cared for, but she shook her head. “Trust me, I think I’ll be able to handle it just fine.”

“You’re not just doing this for us, are you?” Jaune asked. “Because I don’t care what we do to celebrate, so long as it’s us.”

“I want to do this,” Weiss assured him with a nod, heading over to the closet to retrieve the outfit she had planned to wear—a crop top in the colors of the bi flag, and a pair of rainbow short shorts. “This time last year, I didn’t have any of this queer stuff figured out. Now that I do, I want to mark the occasion.”

Ruby stepped closer to her and smiled. “Well, however today goes, know that we’re both super proud of you.” She kissed her cheek, then upcapped a face paint marker. “Now, get dressed so I can draw on your face!”

When the whole process was finished, the three of them were more colorful than a 64 pack of crayons. Weiss had her outfit on, with a bi flag painted on one cheek and a polyamorous flag on the other, with various rainbows, hearts, infinity symbols, and affirmations like “queer cutie” and “bi babe” all over her arms and legs (Ruby had gone overboard with the paint, but Weiss figured that was the point). Meanwhile, Ruby wore her tie-dye top, a trans flag skirt, and some demigirl leggings that she made herself. Her face and arms were similarly covered in colorful paint.

“Not looking forward to how much I’m gonna sweat in this thing,” Jaune remarked with a nervous chuckle as he tugged his trans flag binder on.

“Says the guy who wears a hoodie almost every day,” Ruby said.

“Binder sweat is totally different from hoodie sweat.” He took a deep breath, then stretched his arms over his head. He didn’t bind that often (hence his love for baggy hoodies), but today seemed like a good occasion to break out this bad boy. The fact that it fit so well made it all the easier.

“Maybe wear something other than jeans, too?” Weiss added. “Sweaty man?”

“I don’t look good in anything else other than jeans,” Jaune claimed.

“False!” Ruby said. “You also look good in swim trunks.”

Jaune blushed. “Well, you’re biased.”

“She’s objectively right, though,” Weiss said, coming over and wrapping an arm around Ruby’s shoulders, making the demigirl smile.

“Yeah, you’re depriving us by hiding those sexy calves!”

Jaune scoffed. “Ruby has a thing for calf muscles. Take a note of that, Weiss.”

Weiss stuck out a paint-covered leg. “Already knew that. She wrote ‘hottie’ on the back of my leg of all places.”

“It’s the first thing that comes to mind when I look at your legs,” Ruby muttered, blushing and fidgeting with her fingers.

Jaune turned towards them and sighed, resting his hands on his hips. “Well, are we ready to go?”

“Oh no, mister. You’re not getting out of this,” Ruby said threateningly, holding up several face paint markers.

“Oh no...”

“Weiss, hold him down if necessary.”

Weiss nodded, slowly approaching him. “On it.”

“No—!”

Hi may I get ship? I don't know how these work entirely so sorry. I'm 5'2", wear glasses, and usually have a large hoodie and sneakers on. I'm a bit on the busty side with a few curves, and love drawing, video games, writing, and daydreaming. I cuss like a sailor and I don't take shit from other people about anything. I'm the mom friend who will defend my friends and family with my life, and often cry in pain doing so (my mother says it's because I'm an empath). I may or may not be depressed.

IMMEDIATELY struggling between Arthur and Theo! I think yall might have a bit of a love triangle for awhile (eyes emoji) so you're gonna be a special little beauty who gets a double hehe, so you may choose the end of your own route.

I think they both have quite a thing for curves first off, and it's hard for them not to immediately notice your striking looks when u first come through the door, even with the baggy hoodie covering most of your form. Obviously, Theo can tell an artist with a glance after so long in his trade, and he's immediately intrigued (perhaps with a slight hint of ulterior motive) to see something you draw- and when Arthur finds out you write its just the same. As for video games the two don't know much, but they can certainly tell when you're lost in a daydream, and (somewhat evilly) like to prank you out of them (arthur does more pranking though, while theo likes to pinch you- with his 9 year old boy on the playground with a crush looking ass.)

What neither of them expected though, was to be even FURTHER entranced by how well you could sense their emotions through their carefully fabricated exteriors. That is evidently another reason i just KNEW the three of you would have a thing because lets be real these dudes NEED an escape for their emotions whether they like it or not. it's easier to get through to arthur, and he'd be the one you form an open and trusting relationship with first (on his side,) but theo himself is quite empathic imo, and he would quickly learn that if he's to have a chance with you he needs to stop being an idiot, so theo would be the first one there to dry your tears the SECOND he saw a SLIVER of a frown cross your face. Obviously, he would do it as rudely as possible, but regardless, he would be there.

I think you would have an absolutely beautiful relationship with either of them (or both- whos to say,) but you would have to decide before arthur sabotaged theo's pancakes and created an all out boxing ring over the breakfast table. They may be kind to you, but to each other they're DISTURBINGLY petty.

i want to cosplay tma but i haven't done much of it before and yours are incredible, could you suggest amy characters thatd be pretty easy to pull off?

OK THIS GOT A LITTLE RAMBLY BE WARNED BUT IM Trying my best with this very limited information and delightfully open ended question

well the really excellent part about cosplaying from podcasts is that most of the time the characters don’t have one “canon” design and are completely open to interpretation, which gives you a ton of wiggle room because the decision can be based less on “which of these canon designs do i think id suit best” and more on “which one of these concepts do i think id have the most fun trying to design and execute?” (which is the line of thinking that led me to start working on my jane cosplay, actually!) personally when i cosplay from podcasts the main goal that i’m shooting for wrt the finished product is recognizability since i’ll freely admit that there’s almost nothing like the dopamine release/validation of someone recognizing ur cosplay at a con, especially if they ask for a pic. so my advice is probably generally gonna be oriented towards how to make whatever costume u pick recognizable in hopefully the simplest and clearest way possible.

with tma obviously the human (or mostly human lol) characters are gonna be the easiest to tackle, both because they’re easier to nail down design concepts for (since they’re not the personifications of abstract concepts lol) and also because in tma the monsters/more monstrous characters tend to get pretty detailed descriptions as opposed to the humans who get virtually none.

for me personally, if i was going to start putting together a cosplay of one of the archival staff Right Now starting with things i have in my closet/room, i’d probably either go for daisy or melanie for two reasons. the first is that both in terms of what i look like and what clothes + materials i have lying around, i am (or could use said materials to make myself be) aesthetically closest to looking like my headcanons for them (wow i hope that made sense this is a weird concept to try to figure out how to word when you HAVE slept and AREN’T high so i’m Really struggling)

the second reason is that those are the two i think i (again given what clothes and materials i have on hand) could most easily make myself recognizable as.

aaaand i guess where id go from there is to think about my designs/personal headcanons for these characters. i’ve been trying to sketch my headcanons lately so they’re a little more solid in my mind than they would usually be.

here are the essential components that make a recognizable daisy when i see her in my head:

-short

-large jacket

-too-big clothing in general

-on that note, utilitarian/practical clothing

-boots

-occasionally i like to picture her wearing a shirt with a sign like one of those dog vests that says DONT PET I BITE

-i usually also picture her with some kind of facial scar or something, which as far as i can tell is pretty common in fanart as well

here are the essential components of melanie as she appears in my head:

-also short (tho not AS short, imo)

-mad as hell

-bangs

-messy (in a cool way) eyeliner

-big jacket/hoodie/sweatshirt

-dark lipstick

-ripped jeans/shorts and tights

-ghost hunt uk and/or what the ghost merch

-knife motif somehow incorporated (melanie voice whats uo with this knife motif do you have something against kniiiiiiiives)

-depending which part of the show chronologically ur pulling insp from, sunglasses/an eye bandage/scars/white pupils/etc something like that you get the picture

SO then i go through those lists/review whatever little preliminary sketch ive just done and pull out a second, shorter list which is “things from the first list that i could feasibly make happen using materials that i have or can easily obtain”

so for daisy that would be

-large jacket: i have a way-too-big army jacket i thrifted a while back

-too-big + utilitarian clothing: i have a huge pair of cargo pants and a sweater that have been waiting for this moment

-boots: i got em

-scar/s: i have latex, tissue, and a makeup kit; i can make this happen quickly and easily

and for melanie we’d have

-mad as hell: i can certainly make some faces! draw my eyebrows in a little angrier maybe even!

-bangs: recent development but i have em!

-messy eyeliner: doable

-big jacket: got plenty

-dark lipstick: got plenty x2

-ripped jeans/shorts over tights: happily, this is an essential part of my wardrobe as well as melanie’s

-knife motif: there are certainly subtler and perhaps more elegant ways to go about this but if i wanted to get in cosplay and leave the house in the next like hour.... well.... i mean we do have just like, knives! DISCLAIMER while real knives can be fun and cool for photos don’t take real knives to conventions

anyway yeah so given that i would then basically... gather the pieces needed to check off each item on the list and then get ready and hope for the best lmao.

 I think Skam France is more straightforward than Skam. Emma is more direct and every emotion is more told than shown, kind of? (Which, to me, is a good thing because it doesn’t feel like I’m just watching skam 2.0)

They don’t change much, so for us, it seems like the changes are carefully chosen, which might not be the case.

Eva’s mom was a bit clueless. She asked Eva if the girls are drunk. That’s not the case with Skfr, I think. They added some drama to make people laugh IMO. Like, Emma whispers to Charles, who doesn’t understand and then Emma’s mom is here and Emma tries to cover them up but Charles is like “hm. no. uh uh” and blows her cover-up. I think it was to really draw attention to Emma’s lies to her mother (who is pissed) and make people laugh at Emma’s situation.

It’s probably also to let everyone know that Charles has no intention to date Daphné, yeah. Daphné admits that she isn’t into Charles, kind of (I don’t think it was the case with Vilde but I might be wrong) and Charles doesn’t want to date her. They are much clearer about that imo. 

I guess will see how they will introduce the whole “hoodie” thing (that will be telling about Charles characterization) ’because that’s not really a thing here. Maybe they will switch it to their basketball tees or something related to the raptors but they probably will have to spell it out because otherwise, it’s gonna be weirder than the party story lol. Or they’re gonna drop it completely and just have Daphné thinking she’s his girlfriend and him saying “uh, no.” harshly.
