Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Wednesday senior bureaucrats are reviewing the Deschenes Commission report — a 1980s-era independent inquiry that looked at alleged Nazi war criminals in Canada — with an eye to making more of it public. Governor General Mary Simon also said today Rideau Hall is sorry for honouring Peter Savaryn — a former chancellor of the University of Alberta who served in the same Nazi unit as Yaroslav Hunka — with the Order of Canada [in 1987].[...]
The vice-regal office is also examining the Golden and Diamond Jubilee medals previously awarded to Savaryn, who also served as president of the Ukrainian World Congress, a group that represents the Ukrainian diaspora.[...] The first [part of the report], which included recommendations to make it easier to extradite war criminals, was released publicly. The second was marked secret and the names of alleged Nazis in Canada were never released. Jewish groups, including B'nai Brith and the Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Centre (FSWC), have said the second part should be unredacted and disclosed publicly so that Canadians can learn more about the country's shameful history of admitting an untold number of Nazi collaborators after the Second World War.[...]
"There are top public servants looking very carefully into the issue, including digging into the archives," Trudeau told reporters. "We're going to make recommendations."
Reports suggest as many as 2,000 Ukrainian members of Hitler's Waffen-SS were admitted to Canada after the war — after some British prodding. The commission said the number is likely lower than that.[...]
Quebec Liberal MP Anthony Housefather said it's a delicate issue because the government doesn't want to "bring pain to a lot of Eastern European communities." Hunka, for example, has framed his war service as a fight for Ukrainian independence. The unit he fought for, the 1st Galician division, is also memorialized by Ukrainian expatriate groups at different sites across the country.[...]
The Deschenes report has also concluded that allegations of war crimes committed by this division have "never been substantiated."
That finding conflicts with what the post-war, Allies-led Nuremberg trials concluded about SS units like that one.[...]
"We have to recognize we have a horrible past with Nazi war criminals. We opened our country to people after the war in a way that made it easier to come if you were a Nazi than if you were a Jew," Housefather said.[...]
Conservative MP Melissa Lantsman, the party's deputy leader, said Canadians need to know more about the country's "dark history" of "letting Nazis through the door to live here in peace and security." Lantsman represents the Toronto-area riding of Thornhill, a riding with one of the country's largest Jewish communities. In an interview with CBC News, Lantsman said the party supports revisiting the Deschenes report and its findings in some way.[...]
Asked if it might be too painful for some communities to revisit alleged Second World War-era crimes, Lantsman said "history is painful but that doesn't mean we don't need to reckon with it."[...]
Quebec Conservative MP Gérard Deltell, Poilievre's environment critic, said Wednesday he's not open to revisiting the issue right now.[...]
NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh said he supports releasing the commission's report.

Hello yes it is that time of year again, I am listening to the 1970 OG recording of JCS on vinyl and have decided to finally make a list my rankings for every role and aspect of this show. For the record I am a pagan whose only real knowledge of the Jesus story is from this show so forgive my unhinged takes.
Characters:
Jesus:
Ian Gillan (OG album/broadway)
Ted Neeley (1973)
Ola Sålo (Swedish 2014)
Jack Hopewell (North American Tour 2022)
Morgan James (all female cast 2022)
Judas:
Carl Anderson (1973)
Brandon Victor Dixon (2018)
Murray Head (OG album)
Shoshana Bean (all female cast 2022)
Peter Johannson (Swedish 2014)
Honourable mention to Colm Wilkinson (it is a CRIME that there isn't a full recording of the Irish cast)
Mary Magdalene:
Yvonne Elliman (OG album/broadway/1973)
That's it, no one else even comes close
(Maybe an honourable mention for Gunilla Backman)
Pontius Pilate:
Barry Dennen (OG album/1973)
Filippo Strocchi (Vienna 2018)
Orfeh (all female cast 2022)
Caiaphas:
Bob Bingham (OG broadway/1973)
Norm Lewis (NBC 2018) I will ALWAYS stan Norm
Victor Brox (OG album)
Simon Zealotes:
TIE - Larry Marshall (1971)
TIE - Eric Grönwall (NBC 2018)
John Gustafson (OG album)
Tony Vincent (2000)
Herod:
Alice Cooper (NBC 2018)
Mike D'Abo (OG album)
Chris Moyles (Arena Tour 2012)
Overall - staging/set design/costumes:
1973 Movie
NBC 2018
North American Tour 2022
Arena Tour 2012
Honourable mention to the OG broadway production -- I haven't seen enough footage to accurately rank it but I LOVE Jesus's cape in Superstar.
Best overall rendition of Superstar (incl. staging, costumes, etc)
1973 Movie
NBC 2018
Arena Tour 2012
Swedish 2014
Best facial expressions:
Carl Anderson during Simon Zealotes
Carl Anderson right before he engages in respectability politics to slut shame Mary
Tim Minchin when the priests take his joint lmao
Best Superstar costume:
Carl Anderson's white maxi fringe jumpsuit (come ON)
Peter Johannson's shirtless #lewk (I have a whole thing about how Judas should not look like a demon but the sparkly red pants and the Legolas hair are too fantastic)
Brandon Victor Dixon in the full silver fit
Best WTF moments:
That bit in the 1973 film where they all form The Last Supper for a quick second and no one comments on it
When the 1973 crowd says "won't you die for me?" in Hosanna and it just FREEZES on Jesus's face
The Swedish cast pushing Jesus into Jerusalem in a shopping cart
The fighter pilots swooping at Judas after Blood Money in 1973. What WAS that. How did they get that.
That is all lol. Every time we watch even a clip of a new production my mother and I spend 2-3 hours discussing how it fits into our rankings, so this could change.

Garden Stroll
The castle gardens were charming. Even in the deepest of winter the well trimmed trees and swept little trails made for pleasant walks for the wealthy and bored.
Only for a short time of course.
It was winter after all and none of them wanted to have their lovely arses frozen.
General Price put up his collar against the winter cold and strolled past barren and snow covered flower patches.
Not that he minded most of the noble men and ladies avoiding the garden in winter. It gave him just the privacy he needed while also delivering the excuse of casual meetings for the most attentive.
"General. You look like a freezing peacock in those fancy clothes."
Price barely dignified his second in command's teasing with a greeting grunt.
"Sir Ghost, what a lovely surprise seeing you away from your castle in times of peace."
"The Lady wanted some new fabrics for the newest formal attire."
"Sounds like you will join me in looking like a peacock then soon."
Ghost sighed like a married man who realised he cared about his wife's willingness to uphold status to dress as she deemed appropriate for a man of his position. And most importantly, that he did not mind at all.
"Congratulations on the birth of your daughter, Simon." Price offered.
"Thank you. When will you visit again? The older ones miss their uncle and Mary has not seen you since we declared she was with child."
"About that..."
Price put his hands into his wool coat, wiggling his fingers a bit for warmth while searching for the right words.
"What do you think about having the princess stay at your castle for a bit, old friend?"
Ghost, raised his eye brows.
"Price. This is not the most stupid thing you have ever suggested but it's not far off." The Vice-General and old veteran gave his old friend a calculating look. "She is about to leave to marry soon."
"So I have heard." Price hit back.
"Are you saying she might not take that journey?"
Price leaned back and forth, the snow under his boots crunching softly.
"It is not out of the realm of possibility that the princess may in fact not leave the country to marry."
Ghost crocked his head.
"You are a fool, old man. I have kids. And a wife. Do you think I will put them on the line for a little posh girl who for once in her life has a responsibility?"
"Don't be cold."
"I am cold. Very much. Because you asked me to meet you in the fucking garden in the fucking winter. And no I will not put my head between princess posh and another cozy castle she doesn't feel like being in."
Prince gave Ghost a measuring look.
"How old is your oldest daughter again?"
"Don't." Ghost growled.
"Is it 5 years until they deem her ready to marry? 4 years? They barely let those girls grow to height nowadays. Especially girls of good stock."
"My girls are not brooding mares." Ghost snapped.
"No girl is." Price snapped back.
They starred at each other.
"Fuck." The honourable lord Ghost cursed, crossing his arms and looking up to the sky as if to find answers there written in the sky.
Price waited, knowing that his second in command would come to the same conclusions as he had.
"The princess can never step a foot onto my lands."
"Indeed."
Ghost gave Prince a mischievous look.
"Which means she needs to stop being a princess before that."
Price grinned back.
"Exactly."

17. THE INVITE
Tumblr media
THE SUN WAS STILL RISING BY THE TIME RHONA AND I REACHED TO THE MANSION'S LARGE DOORS. She opened the door and we entered. Gabriel stood in front of the active fireplace - which was confusing to me - and Helena was standing behind him. Simon and Alana sat side by on the couch to the left and Joseph was on the opposite side.
"I thought we need to have a search party," said Joseph.
"She was just enjoying a walk at night," Rhona said to him.
I spotted a book lying on the ground. I walked to the book.
"Say, for a coven who has a library" I voiced, sauntering to the book. "You left that book on the floor."
"It's not me," Simon rose his hands.
I picked up the book and, abruptly, something landed in front of me. I saw Ethan, who roared at me like a little kid trying to scare me. He was a big kid. My amber eyes stared blankly at him as he stopped screaming.
"Oh, hi, Ethan," I greeted him after picking up the book.
"Were you scared?" He asked me. "Tell me honestly."
"I was close to being scared that time." I sarcastically replied.
"Oh, I'm going for fearsome here, but I just don't feel it!" He said as we walked to the coven. "I think I'm just coming off as annoying."
Did he think? Man, does he listen to himself?
We sat down on the couch: Ethan with his parents and Rhona beside Joseph and me beside her. Gabriel held a white envelope in his right hand and opened it. He pulled out a small card, cleared his throat and started reading it.
"Isabella Marie Swan and Edward Anthony Masen Cullen," he began. "Together with their families; request the honour of your presence at the celebration of their marriage."
A part of me squealed inside me. Edward and Bella are getting married? Why was I surprised? They had been dating for quite some time, even with the madness of Victoria, the newborns, the wolves and, possibly, the Volturi.
"That's great news!" Alana said happily.
"Well, it's about time," Joseph added.
When they were celebrating, I remembered something. Something that Jane said to the Cullens about Bella.
"Caius will be interested to know that she's still human."
Why would Caius be interested in Bella and her mortality? How much does the Volturi know about Bella?
"The date is set," I whispered to myself.
"What?" Gabriel sounded concerned as he asked me.
"Bella said that to her."
"Who?"
"Jane."
His golden eyes stared blankly at me as the room went quiet. Dead quiet. This wasn't good.
"You saw the Volturi?" Joseph spoke first.
"Just the four. Jane, Alec, Felix and Demetri." I answered him.
"I assumed they were aware of Victoria and her army," Gabriel added.
I nodded. "They would have stopped her but I couldn't help but think that they already knew."
"Why's that?" Simon questioned me.
"I don't know" was my answer. "I just do."
"So Bella knew about them?" Helena asked.
"Seems so," I replied.
"Why keep her alive?" Helena's words caught my ear.
"What do you mean?" I sounded worried.
"Usually when a human discovers the Volturi, they would become food," Gabriel said. "The one rule all vampires have to obey is to keep our existence a secret."
"Well, Victoria kind of broke that rule," I said. "Many people were disappearing in Seattle. Yet the humans didn't think they're vampires now."
And most likely, dead. Except for me. I wondered if the people in Forks were worried about me. Were they looking for me for all those times?
"How did the Volturi miss you?" Ethan enquired and his mother nudged his stomach. "What? Am I not allowed to ask her that? I'm just curious, that's all."
"I was invisible when they arrived. That's when Bella told Jane."
"Lucky escape, for you," Rhona added.
"Are the Volturi invited?" I asked them.
"I hope not," said Simon. "Since there will be few humans at the wedding."
"And they have a great thirst for human blood," Gabriel added. "And to avoid any suspicions, Carlisle invited Bella's family and friends."
"Will there be other vampire covens?" I inquired again.
"The Denali Coven," Helena answered. "They lived in Alaska and they also drink animal blood."
"Which is great for the humans," Rhona joined in. "I mean the drinking animal blood as well as them not knowing about us."
"They're like the cousins to the Cullens," Ethan said.
"Who is in that coven? How many?"
"Five," said Gabriel. "Tanya, the leader, her sisters Kate and Irina, Eleazar and his mate Carmen. It would be nice seeing them again."
The Denali Coven sounded interesting. It would be nice to meet other vegetarian vampires.
"Anyway, when's the wedding?" I asked.
"Thirteenth of August," replied Gabriel. "This Saturday coming."
Today was Wednesday. That was three days away. How long did Edward and Bella date? A year, maybe? Maybe Bella wanted to marry Edward so she could get turned into a vampire. It would solve the problem with the Cullens so they won't keep any secrets from her. Or maybe people would think that the Cullens are secretly a Mormon family who converted a young woman to the religion. Or cult to some people. Either way, the wedding will happen.
"I'm thinking that the wedding will be at their place?" Simon asked.
"It said it's at four hundred and twenty Woodcroft Avenue in Forks, Washington," said Gabriel, looking at the invitation.
"Oh, yeah," I spoke up. "Their place." Everyone looked at me. "It was a nice place..." I spotted Alana looking at me as if she was offended by my comment. "But this place is way nicer."
She turned her gaze away from me. I think I saved myself from her wrath. Who knew how many times she would get mad?
"That means we can do our girls' shopping trip!" Rhona squealed with excitement.
"A shopping trip for a wedding," said Helena.
"But would the humans see us sparkle?" I asked. "That would suck."
"Don't worry about it, lass," replied Alana. "It's going to be pouring rain tomorrow. Your typical London weather." She ended with a chuckle.
"It's going to be your first time, Violet," Rhona added. "It's going to be fun!"
Rhona reminded me of Alice a little bit. Bubbly and sweet. I couldn't help but feel excited about the whole thing.
The countdown for the wedding has begun.

As someone not a huge fan of Edwina, thank you for defending her lol. I am first and foremost a Kate defender/supporter. Do I agree with the way she went about some things? No. But she always put her family first in every scenario. You could see the love she had for Mary and Edwina and their well-being. Them and their love of her? I guess episode 8 showed it?
People need to realize that Edwina is only at fault for her cruelty against Kate and refusing to listen to her. Kate told her multiple times Anthony wouldn’t love her. He humiliated Kate at the races and Edwina didn’t care. She didn’t stick up for Kate or her father and mother after the Sheffields were cruel to them, etc. Anthony made enough “grand gestures” to imply that he had actual feelings for her - or at least what an 18 year old would believe to be love. Anthony. Is. At. Fault. when it comes to Edwina and her confusion.
Also people need to leave CC alone. Like you said, she has a right to ask for more as an actress, they didn’t have to do it. I won’t assume how she felt the direction the plot went, but I did side eye her a smidge during some Twitter debacles but I also kinda chalked it up to her being nervous about her first big role. I’m very glad she is no longer on there because I do not think that would’ve been good for her at all after the season dropped.
exactly, you perfectly summarised my feelings on edwina.
i found her behaviour towards kate to be horrible and that's something that merits criticism and was never addressed in the show. while kate may have made mistakes, her every decision was made with edwina in mind and i never felt like edwina acknowledged or appreciated that, or that she realised or cared about how much she hurt kate.
but yeah, for all anthony stans claim that he was upfront with her from the beginning bla bla bla, i found it perfectly reasonable that a teenager would romanticise his actions? even with kate as the voice of reason (thank god for older sisters) is an 18yo really expected to be on the receiving end of anthony’s speech in episode 2 and not romanticise it? teenagers fantasise for way less. of course what she took away from it was that Unlike Other Gentlemen who woo debutantes with pretty empty words, anthony was an honest and honourable man that may not wax poetry but would be there for her and she could always rely on. i’m not expecting someone that young and inexperienced to have the maturity of a grown woman and see the red flags when she's barely interacted with men in her life!
and yeah i’ve found cc annoying during the s2 promo (kinda felt like she'd built up a romantic version of edwina and anthony's relationship in her head that just wasn't there instead of acknowledging that anthony was an asshole to her character) plus the whole twitter debacle. i won't pretend she hasn't since received hate from the fandom cause she definitely has, but at the time of the whole poster mess kathony stans had absolutely no issue with her and were pretty excited to see her as edwina, which is why all the anger and blame was directed at the production.
but that's neither here nor there when it comes to her wanting more for her character, she was entitled to ask! it was up to the writers to say “yeah this is probably not a good idea but how about we go that direction?”. edwina could've had the same amount of screen time and cc the same amount of promo except it wouldn't be as a plot device that exists to stand between the leads, but as her own character. think anthony in s1. he got plenty of screen time and he was involved in simon and daphne’s story, but his character didn't solely exist to pose an obstacle in their story. he had an arc of his own that existed outside the main romance of the season.

The “Battle” of Carberry Hill took place on June 15th 1567.
It always amuses me to see this marked down as a battle in the history books, it was a stand off, challenges were made, soldiers were nominated to fight others, but at the end of the day people started to get pissed up and bored and it petered out.
On a hot sunny day on Carberry Hill (a few miles east of Edinburgh), Queen Mary spent her last few hours of freedom. After the murder of Lord Darnley in February, many pointed at Bothwell as one of the conspirators responsible. This was never proved, and he was found not guilty at a subsequent trial. However suspicion remained. Bothwell was a rough and ruthless man, amusing and charming too, but had made many enemies. When, only months after Darnley’s death, in May, Mary married the recently divorced Bothwell, many people in Scotland disapproved. Powerful men such as Morton, Balfour and Murray of Tullibardine formed themselves into a confederation to oppose Bothwell, and if that meant opposing Mary too, then so be it.
In the wee sma’ hours of Sunday the 15th June they marched out of Edinburgh with an army of supporters and took up position between Carberry Tower and Carberry Hill. Before them they held up a banner depicting the murdered Darnley with the legend: “Judge and avenge my cause, O Lord”.
Truth be told most of them couldn’t give a toss about Darnley, this was just another excuse to kick up a stink against a Catholic Queen the increasingly powerful Protestant Lords did not like, nor want.
The picture shows a drawing made around the time, the banner mentioned above is held up by the footsoldier at the upper left. Bothwell is behind the four cannons, Mary is being led by three escorts towards the rebel camp. Carberry Tower is depicted right on the edge in the middle on the left-hand side.
Mary and Bothwell, who had spent their last night together at Seton Castle, took up position with their supporters on the higher ground of Carberry Hill. The sun was hot; some drank wine to quench their thirst, it had the potential to turn into a right rammy.
The two sides faced each other according to time-honoured chivalry, sending messengers across to each side with challenges to combat. There was much hesitation. Monsieur du Croc, the French ambassador, rode out from Edinburgh to mediate. He was deputed by the rebels to implore Mary to abandon Bothwell, and if she did so they would back down and submit to her.
Mary resolutely refused. Challenges to personal combat were issued though none took place. Bothwell challenged Morton who delegated to Lindsay who “girded his waist with his great sword called Archibald-the-Cat,”  handed down from his ancestors. But it all came to nothing. Mary’s supporters began to drift away and by evening she realised that her cause was lost. She decided she would trust the rebels with the safe conduct of Bothwell if she gave herself up to them. She and Bothwell parted and he rode back to Dunbar.
When she rode into the rebel camp, she was shocked to find that they jeered at her, such had her popularity declined. She was led to Edinburgh and installed in the house of the provost, Simon Preston of Craigmillar, under guard. Thus began her captivity, first in Scotland, followed by a short time after her escape from Lochleven Castle, then in England, which was only to end with her execution 20 years later.

Lucy Spraggan reveals she quit X Factor after being raped | UK News
Tumblr media
Former X Factor contestant Lucy Spraggan has revealed she left the ITV talent show after being raped. The singer - who had been a favourite to win in 2012 - suddenly quit the show during its live rounds, with programme-makers telling the public her departure was due to "illness". But the 31-year-old has now waived her legal right to anonymity, which is granted to all rape victims, to speak out about her ordeal.Spraggan was 20 years old at the time of the attack, which she said was carried out by a hotel porter following a night out with fellow contestants. In the aftermath, she was advised to take medication to prevent HIV infection - but it made her so ill she was forced to leave the X Factor, which was won that year by James Arthur. The singer said she had wanted to go public at the time, but was warned it might affect her future career.Spraggan later went on to have success in the music industry with two top-10 albums. Her release Join The Club reached seven in the charts in 2013, while Choices peaked at number five in 2021.But she said she was tired of not being honest with fans and wanted to speak out now because "in order for me to rebuild myself and move on, I needed to tell the truth".Detailing the rape in her new memoir, Process: Finding My Way Through, the singer said she had earlier been on a night out in London celebrating fellow contestant Rylan Clark's 25th birthday at Mayfair nightclub Mahiki. WHEN ADMIRATION AND RESPECT FOR THE ANOINTING IS LOST
54. “He returned to Nazareth, his hometown. When he taught there in the synagogue, everyone was amazed and said, “Where does he get this wisdom and the power to do miracles?”
55. Then they scoffed, “He’s just the carpenter’s son, and we know Mary, his mother, and his brothers—James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas.
56. All his sisters live right here among us. WHAT MAKES HIM SO GREAT?”
57. AND THEY WERE DEEPLY OFFENDED AND REFUSED TO BELIEVE IN HIM. Then Jesus told them, “A prophet is honoured everywhere except in his own hometown and among his own family.”
58. AND SO HE DID ONLY A FEW MIRACLES THERE BECAUSE OF THEIR UNBELIEF."
Matthew 13:54-58 (NLT)
Tumblr media
• People of Nazareth were deeply offended about Jesus and refused to believe in Him.
- They wanted to know what could have made Him so great, though they did not believe in His ministry.
- Do not allow familiarity to rob you of your blessings or miracles. Familiarity is an enemy of Miracles!
- Some attend Church meetings where they supposed to receive the touch of God, but reverse is the case, they could not receive any touch, Miracle or Blessing, because of familiarity.
DO not allow familiarity to the authority God has set over your Life!
- If it is difficult for you to reverence, or honour the person who pastors you, or ministers to you, you may not receive anything under the grace or the anointing, of Such a minister. In other words, the person's ministry would not bless YOU except you change in your attitude towards him or her.
THE anointing you do not respect cannot bless you!
YOUR unbelief will short-circuit the move of God in your LIFE!
- No matter the level and greatness of the Anointing on someone, If the person or people such wanted to minister to do not respect the grace or the anointing on him or her, the anointing would not Flow as it should, to bless them.
EVEN in Jesus' earthly ministry, He could not perform many Miracles in Nazareth because of their unbelief and the fact that they did Despise the Anointing on Him (Matthew 13:58).
• The People of Nazareth were offended and refused to believe in Jesus (Matthew 13:57).
- Jesus told them: “A prophet is honoured everywhere except in his own hometown among his own family" (Matthew 13:57b).
- If you despised your prophet, you may remain long in the captivity: "BY A PROPHET THE LORD BROUGHT ISRAEL OUT OF EGYPT, AND BY A PROPHET HE WAS PRESERVED" (Hosea 12:13).
- God has put your word in the mouth of your prophet.
YOU should locate your prophet and submit to him properly.
- The fact that you are planted in a local Church, the Pastor who oversees the work is meant to be your prophet, the authority Set over your Life.
- The person God has put in the Church to pastor you, who sees to your spiritual and physical welfare, is your prophet (Hebrews 13:17).
- Do not allow familiarity to breed contempt, and rob you of your Blessings, like the people of Nazareth.
- Jesus could not perform many miracles because of their unbelief—contempt, as a result of familiarity (Matthew 13:58).
- God has ordained someone to liberate you.
GOD has put your word in someone's mouth, He put the anointing to liberate you on someone, do not die in the captivity, or bondage.
- Some have located their Prophets, but they allowed familiarity to Rob them of that God-ordained relationships.
• Kingdom arrangement
- The Senior Pastor—the Set Man of the Church. A senior Pastor who oversees a number of churches would appoint other people who will pastor the satellite Churches under his leadership.
AS he puts Someone there to represent him, the person is representing God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, and the Senior Pastor.
IF you despised the person whom the Holy Spirit has put over you to represent God and His servant, it means, you have despised God and His servant WHOM the resident Pastor is representing.
• The truth is: there is order in the Kingdom of God
THERE are people whom God has given the Church as ministry gifts (Ephesians 4:11), and they are ORDAINED to represent God.
- God loves order and believes in orderliness.
GOD does not want rebellion and unbelief, and He demands total obedience from all his children (Hebrews 13:7,17).
- What are your attitudes to God ordained authorities over your life?
THE people of Nazareth missed their Divine visitation BECAUSE of unbelief and familiarity.
THEY knew Jesus' history, but they find it difficult to believe that Jesus whom they know was the One performing miracles: "So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. AT ONE TIME WE THOUGHT OF CHRIST MERELY FROM A HUMAN POINT OF VIEW. HOW DIFFERENTLY WE KNOW HIM NOW!" (2 Corinthians 5:16 NLT)
- Even if you know the history of a minister of God, now that he has become a minister, do not relate with him base on your past knowledge of him.
• Following order, believing in God’s delegated authorities who represent Him and set to watch over your Life, releases your miracles.
• It is my prayer that you will not miss your blessings in Jesus' name.
Peace!

NHL's Sidney Crosby, astronaut David Saint-Jacques among 99 named to Order of Canada
David Saint-Jacques says he has always been "obsessed" with the notion of perspective -- from the physical, like understanding where we are in space and what's beyond the clouds, to the philosophical.
The Canadian astronaut and physician has had more opportunities than most to explore all the meanings of that word. He orbited Earth for 240 days and saw "just how exposed we are in the cosmos."
Then, less than a year after his stint on the International Space Station, the pandemic hit. And he spent two years working the COVID-19 units at Montreal's McGill University Health Centre, witnessing heartbreak and solidarity.
If Saint-Jacques has had a lifelong obsession with perspective, it's perhaps unsurprising that he points to the "many, many, many giants" on whose shoulders he's been standing -- and those who "made it possible for me to come back to Earth alive" -- when he is singled out to receive one of the country's highest honours.
Gov. Gen. Mary Simon announced Thursday that he and 98 others are being appointed to the Order of Canada.
Among the heavy hitters of academia, science, medicine, law and the arts are hockey star Sidney Crosby, currently the captain of the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins, famed Hollywood impressionist Rich Little and esteemed Quebec actor Michel Cote.
Two existing appointees are being promoted to become companions to the order, the honour roll's highest status -- beloved actor Eugene Levy and Nova Scotia businessman John Bragg.
"It's very humbling, seriously, to have my name there along people who have accomplished so much on their own steam. I do feel like certainly my accomplishments as an astronaut are really the result of huge teamwork," Saint-Jacques said.
The astronaut added that the teamwork of the international space program is what gives him hope that humanity can solve its biggest problems. It's like "a bridge that we built that's always open," he said, no matter what is unfolding on the ground.
Another new officer in the order is Harry LaForme, who became Canada's first Indigenous appellate court judge in 2004.
While serving on the Ontario Superior Court in 2002, LaForme authored an important decision that led to the legalization of same-sex marriage in Ontario, finding that denying same-sex couples the right to marry violated their equality rights. Gay marriage became legal in Ontario a year later.
"It was quite an easy decision for me to make," he said. "The clarity comes from living a life of being oppressed and being denied rights."
LaForme spoke about growing up on a First Nation reserve, living through a period when, "You had to get permission to go off the reserve" and speaking to his grandfather, whose life had been overtaken by the department of Indian Affairs, about the erosion of their Indigenous language.
He said he has always remembered what the then-Liberal justice minister, Irwin Cotler, told him upon his appointment to the appeals court.
"I said, 'Why did you pick me?' And he said, 'Well, somebody who knows justice will be somebody who has experienced injustice.' And that resonated with me."
When people say that he was ahead of his time on the same-sex marriage decision and on another that paved the way for legal use of cannabis for medical purposes, LaForme disagrees. "I think that was exactly the right time to be doing it."
LaForme and Juanita Westmoreland-Traore delivered a report to the federal justice minister in late 2021 that envisions an independent commission to consider wrongful conviction applications. And he is taking on cases related to the over-incarceration of Indigenous Peoples in his role as senior counsel at Olthuis Kleer Townshend LLP.
"Anything is better than what we do right now," he said, urging the government to do better on the issue and follow through on his recommendations. "We've got to care about the people that are incarcerated."
LaForme is not the only Order of Canada appointee who is being recognized for extraordinary achievements but who feels that their work is far from over.
Ronald Deibert, a University of Toronto professor and founder of its unique Citizen Lab, is being recognized "for his leadership and expertise in digital technology, security and human rights, and for his groundbreaking contributions to cybersecurity around the globe."
No institution houses anything quite like the lab, which combines research from different disciplines to pull back the curtain on cybersecurity. Its reports are informing international policy and global approaches to combating mercenary spyware.
"I wanted to create a counter-intelligence capacity for global civil society, and that's effectively what we do," Deibert said. He added that his role is like that of a coach or a general manager on a hockey team, and he feels he is receiving the honour on behalf of the group of professionals who conduct that work.
Deibert, who recently briefed the White House and other high-level audiences about cybersecurity risks, said he's hoping for more acknowledgment of the problem from the Canadian government. He accused Ottawa of being "asleep at the wheel."
But he expressed gratitude for being recognized with the accolade, calling it a surreal experience.
"I grew up in a working-class east Vancouver neighbourhood. I didn't even think I would get much beyond high school, and within my family, I think as far as you can go, I was the only person to go to university," he said.
"To get this award is just a huge recognition for someone like me and I think others who may be in that position. It just goes to show that … if you care about what you do, you're passionate and you work hard, it pays off."
Simon said in a statement that the appointees' commitment to the betterment of Canada fills her with pride and hope for the future.
"Celebrated trailblazers in their respective fields, they are inspiring, educating and mentoring future generations, creating a foundation of excellence in our country that is respected throughout the world," her statement said.
The Governor General will offer the awardees their Order of Canada insignia at an investiture ceremony, with the details yet to be announced.
This report by The Canadian Press was first published Dec. 29, 2022.

Word count: 3306
Summary: You and Arthur have recently made your relationship official by moving into his tent...but is he really into you...or is he still holding onto his past?
Notes: SFW, Angst leading to fluff
After requesting several wonderful stories from one of my favourite writers and people, I was super honoured to have the chance to be able to write something for the super talented and lovely @littlestarofthewest -  Merry Christmas from your secret santa 😘😘
Also a huge thank you to @horsegirl1h (who helped me plot this out) @verai-marcel (for wrangling in all my stupid grammatical mistakes) & @mileycyprus-hill who took a quick look over this and gave me a much better character note on how to improve Arthur's feelings in this story and give me a far better title I could ever think of myself. Thank you all 😘

The First Shall Be Forgotten
You slowly opened your eyes, only to find the cot next to you still empty. It was fairly late when you'd finally taken yourself off to bed last night, but you had found yourself unable to keep your eyes open as you'd sat around the scout fire. Your hope of Arthur riding back into camp and joining you in lying down for the night had turned into a wishful dream of waking up with his strong arms wrapped around you, but it turns out it was just that - merely a pleasant dream.
It was only a few months since you'd started dating, with most of that time spent being inseparable, but lately you noticed that Arthur was staying away from camp longer and longer. Yes - the events of Blackwater had changed the gang's luck and the likes of Dutch and Strauss kept giving Arthur more and more tasks to do, but you'd felt like that most of these jobs could be done well before nightfall. Surely Arthur wasn't avoiding you because he was bored of you already….could he?
You sat upright, shaking your head free of any more of those nasty thoughts, quickly making the decision that you should get dressed and help out around camp before Miss Grimshaw marched over to berate you for wasting so much time idling about.
There was a chill floating in the air this morning in camp and so you found yourself shivering as you looked around for your light jacket. Opening your shared trunk, you proceeded to pile a mixture of both yours and Arthur's clothes on to the cot in your quest to find your missing coat. Though you soon found yourself distracted as you lifted one of Arthur's shirts up, tutting to yourself as you saw just how worn and dirt stained they all were. You swore that that man would wear these offending items until they fell apart on him...and some were close to doing so, judging by how often they'd been patched up.
"Ah, there you are," Pearson's cheerful voice booming from behind you, making you jump out of your skin, "I need a helping hand gathering supplies in town and was wondering if you could come along with me for the ride"
"Me? Surely there's someone more capable about?" Although Valentine was only a short ride away, the idea of being Mr. Pearson's captive audience for that short length of time was not high on your list of priorities for the day.
"Well, I don't know if you noticed but we are stretched a little thin on the ground right now," his hands gesturing to the almost empty camp area in front of you, "Mr. Smith & Mr. Escuella are yet to return from Blackwater with young Sean and, as you well know, Mr. Morgan is still yet to return from wherever he has took himself off to. As for the girls..." you tried to stifle a chuckle as he trailed off to glance nervously over at where Tilly, Mary-Beth and Karen were currently sitting at their wagon, making sure they couldn't hear this conversation, "...I'd rather not ask them. Uncle told me of the trouble they got up to on their last visit into Valentine."
You couldn't help but burst out laughing at Pearson's fear of trying to keep three excited young women from creating chaos. "Sorry, sorry," you apologised, wiping your eyes as he looked at you with confusion, "Well...since you have no other options, I'll join you. I've been wanting to pick Arthur up a new shirt anyways." Spotting your jacket at the bottom of the truck, you quickly threw it on, leaving all the other clothes heaped on the bed, "Shall we go now then?"
Tumblr media
"Goddamit, why does there have to be a train in the station?" you grumbled as Pearson pulled the horses to a stop at the crossing, which was blocked by one of the carriages belonging to the offending train. After being waylaid by the shop boy slowly loading the wagon with all the goods Pearson had chosen for camp - not that any of these ingredients would do much to improve his cooking, you cruelly thought to yourself - your head was starting to ache from listening to Pearson's constant tall tales. All you had wanted to do was get back to camp and sleep off your headache, but that didn't seem to be happening anytime soon, thanks to this stupid train.
"I know what you mean, I was hoping to get back and make a start on preparing supper," Pearson sighed before suddenly cheering up, "But, hey, at least it gives me more time to tell you about my time at sea. There was this other time..."
Internally, you found yourself groaning, trying to zone out the older man as he recounted yet another story, that this time seemed to involve him somehow, inexplicably fighting a walrus -  single-handedly -  to save his crew.
You glanced around, finding yourself admiring all the different horses hitched up around the station...until a familiar sight caught your eye.
"Hey isn't that Brutus?" you interrupted Pearson mid-sentence, gesturing towards the big, black Shire horse that Hosea had gifted Arthur a few weeks ago. Arthur had rarely named his horses after losing his beloved Boudicca in Blackwater and was more than content to just refer to this one as "Boy", but after overhearing Hosea called this giant a brute, you'd jokingly suggested the name Brutus, a name that had tickled Arthur and agreed it was the perfect name for this beast.
Put out a little by the fact you had rudely interrupted him just as the story was getting good, Pearson grudgingly glanced over to the direction in which you were pointing.
"Er, it does look like it. So anyway after I killed the Walrus with nothing but my bare hands…"
'So this is where you've gotten to Morgan,' you thought to yourself, once again not listening to Pearson's story. 'Here's hoping you're on your way home too.'
Smiling to yourself that your lover would hopefully be by your side once more, you absent-mindedly found yourself scanning the crowd of people that was starting to thin out as they slowly stepped onto the carriages...until you saw him standing with his back to you.
A smile started to creep over your face as you recognised Arthur's dirty blond hair, broad frame and filthy blue shirt. Just the fact you could see how dirty it was from this distance made you glad that you'd made the decision to buy him a new one now, as that one needed throwing out, never mind a good wash. Anybody would think that man spent most of his time rolling around in the mud than riding a horse around.
With his hands on his gun belt, he shifted his weight to one side and the smile on your face was replaced with a look of confusion as a young lady was revealed to be standing next to him, deep in an intimate conversation.
Unconsciously scowling at her, you were unable to shake the feeling that you've seen her somewhere before, but for the life of you, you couldn't quite place where.
You squinted your eyes to try and focus your vision on her delicate features before a feeling of rage bubbled up from your stomach as she kissed Arthur's cheek, in a way that suggested more than just friendship.
"And I'll tell you - I used that walrus meat to feed a crew of 50...and not one of them complained the way you and the rest of camp do about my cooking" Pearson waffled on down your ear, distracting you from your thoughts about this mysterious woman and how you wanted to jump down and throttle her. Instead you suddenly had the urge to wrap your hands around the cook's neck.
Turning to face him, you barked, "Maybe being at sea for weeks at end with no food makes people more appreciative of the slop you always manage to serve up - no matter the ingredients."
You instantly felt regret as the words left your mouth and you saw the hurt in the older man's eyes.
"Christ, I'm sorry Mr. Pearson. I didn’t mean to take it out on you..." You paused, thinking about telling him about what you just saw, but you doubted this old sea dog would give a damn about your love life and so explained "I just have a real bad headache and it's put me in a bad mood."
He nodded softly and turned away so you wouldn't see him wipe the sting of the tears from his eyes.
Feeling guilty from the hurt you just caused, you looked away to the source of your own pain, only to find Arthur had disappeared from the platform and the train was now pulling out the station. Had he gotten on board with his mystery woman? Gone off to start a new life with her and left you and the outlaw life behind him? These thoughts rattled around your head as Pearson told the horses to giddy up and the pair of you headed back to camp in an awkward silence.
Tumblr media
Jumping down from the wagon, you helped Pearson unload the wagon - still with an uneasy tension in the air, before you tried to broker the peace between you both by offering to help prepare the next meal as a peace offering.
"No, it's quite okay," Pearson patted you shoulder to show there was no hard feelings, "You go sleep off that sore head of yours"
You nodded appreciatively, finding yourself thanking him and apologising once more as you picked up the wrapped parcel containing Arthur's new shirt, and headed back to your tent.
As you walked over, you rolled your eyes in annoyance at yourself as you caught sight of the mess you'd left behind this morning. Picking the mountain of clothes up, you threw them in straight at the trunk at the end of the cot, surprising yourself as you heard a loud clatter of something hitting the side of the chest and then dropping onto the floor.
Peering over, you saw that a few shirts and a pair of trousers had missed their target and were now scattered over the floor... alongside a wooden photoframe, laying face down on the ground, that definitely wasn't there before.
Picking it up, you recognised the image of a younger, but still very handsome version of Arthur standing on the left.
'You've always been a good-looking bastard haven't you?' half smiling as you took in his handsome features, 'No wonder you have a long list of admirers to spend all your time instead of me.'
Well before you and Arthur had started dating, you had seen this photograph before. You recalled picking it up from his bedside table back then too, in order to get a closer look of how attractive Arthur's always been.
But sometime between then and making your relationship official, Arthur must have removed it and hidden it out of sight from you. Just as you were about to ask yourself why, you spotted who else was in the picture.
'No…no it can't be,' you thought to yourself as you stared at the beautiful, dark haired woman standing next to him in the image. But, as much as you didn’t want it to be, it certainly was. Looking straight back at you was a younger version of the same woman from the train station…the same woman who had ripped Arthur's heart out and tore it into a million pieces all those years ago when she called off their engagement - Mary.
Time seemed to slow down as your mind went into overdrive. Did he simply remove the picture as a thoughtful gesture so you wouldn't wake up to a younger Arthur and his ex-fiancee looking at you…or did he hide it because he still loved her and her alone? Were you just a stopgap - something to fill the emptiness in his heart until she came back to him? Is that the real reason Arthur had hidden the picture and not gotten rid of it completely? So once he had managed to win her back, he could toss you aside and place it once more on his bedside to stare lovingly at while he held her in his arms?
You hadn’t realise you were crying or just how hard you were gripping the frame until you heard the sudden sound of glass cracking and a mix of your blood and tears began to streak all over her stupid, perfect face. Standing frozen to the spot, you stared and stared at her image, slowly disappearing under the physical manifestations of your hurt and betrayal, until you heard Arthur bellow out your name as he rode back into camp.
"Hey you. Boy, did I sure miss you while I was gone," he cheerfully greeted you as he strode towards you, "I tell you, there's some strange sights out there that I've been dyin' to tell you all 'bout."
"Tell me?" you snarled, acting the wounded animal you currently felt like, "Don't you have other people you'd rather spend your time with?"
   "What? What's got into you?"
Your heart panged as you saw the hurt cross his face as he saw how upset you were.
"Listen, if this 'bout me spendin' so much time from camp recently, then I am sorry - but I did miss you somethin' fierce y'know" he assured you, placing his arms around your waist.
"Just like you've missed Mary for all these years?" Just saying her name out loud felt like you had tasted venom on your lips and needed to quickly spit it out.
"Mary? Where's all this comin' from?" He flustered, averting his eyes downwards as not to meet your steely gaze. Upon seeing you holding the photograph, he exclaimed, "Christ alive, you're bleedin'. Here lemme fix you up."
"I'm fine," you snapped at him, pulling your hand away from his gentle touch. Any other time, this small act of affection - the big mean outlaw gently cradling your hand in his - would have made you melt on the spot, but today your inner rage wasn't having any of it. Instead you blurted out, "I saw you. At the train station…with her."
Realising he had been caught out and couldn't bluff his way out of this sorry mess, he sat down on the cot and tried to explain.
"Okay, yeah, I was at the train station with her, but it really ain't what you think…"
   "I saw her kiss you."
"You mean when she kissed my cheek? That was her sayin' goodbye. Her and her brother are headin' back East to find their father."
You sat next to him, the photograph still in your hands.
"Still doesn't explain why you were with her in the first place."
"No it doesn't, does it." He sighed, running his hand down his face. "I was on my way back to camp, ridin' through Valentine when I thought I'd check and see if there was any post. Lo' and behold there was just the one - a letter from Mary askin' if I could help with a small problem of hers."
"So you must have been in contact with her if she knew you were in town."
He shook his head. "No. No, she'd recognised the girls after their last trip into town and wrote to me on the off-chance I was also in the area."
   "Why?"
"Her kid brother, Jamie, he'd gone and got himself mixed up in this weird cult up in Cumberland Forest. Christ, you shoulda seen them all listenin' on as this lunatic spouted some nonsense about turtles or somethin'," laughing, he patted his leg until he saw your stony expression still waiting for the answer to your question.
"Get to the point please, Arthur."
"You're right, sorry," he said as he nodded, "Jamie was the only one in her family who stood up for me and I owed it to *him*, not Mary, him -  to help get him away from those crazy fools."
You fidgeted slightly next to him. You wanted to believe him, but he seemed to be avoiding the main topic of conversation.
"So say I believe you about your reasonings for helping her…why did you keep a picture of her?"
Silence filled the air for a second before he simply answered. "I shoved it in there so you wouldn't have to keep lookin' at it when we lay together...and I guess I forgot all 'bout it."
You looked away as more tears fell down your cheeks. Gently placing his hand under your chin, Arthur turned your face to face his, looking deep into your eyes he told you,
   "You’re overthinking – I’m yours. That’s all I want to be.”
   "Prove it." You pleaded.
"Okay then...this should show you she's nothin' to me now." He took the broken frame from your grasp and carefully removed the picture from the frame, lingering for a moment before crumpling it up in his hand and walking towards the campfire.
Though his stride was purposeful, you couldn't help but feel he faltered once more as he looked at the flames, but those fears disappeared as he turned to look back at you with a warmth in his eyes and a smile stretching wide across his face. Looking straight at you, his hand opened and the picture fell into the flames, where it lay for a few moments as it slowly rendered into nothing but a pile of ashes.
Making his way back over to you, he picked you up and spun you around his arms.
   "I'm all yours...are you mine?"

Bonus scene: Arthur's POV
He slowly removed the picture from the frame, partly being careful not to cut himself on broken shards of glass and partly because he wanted to make sure he was making the right decision. He was convinced that after Mary called it all off between them, he'd never smile, let alone love again. But then you'd walked into his life and brought light back into the darkness he'd found himself in.
But maybe there was a reason he'd held on to this photograph for all this time - a reminder of the good times that existed between them. Heartbreak has a funny way of erasing those memories, but seeing the woman you once considered the love of your life in person has an equally funny way of making those feelings rush back.
But no, the heartache he'd felt for all these years outweighed the fleeting moments of happiness he'd felt with Mary. And that kiss on the cheek to say goodbye that she'd given him at the train station? It certainly didn't give him butterflies like it used too. Looking at her image one last time, he crumpled it up and walked over to the campfire.
Though he had confidently strode over to flames, he once more had doubts he was right to finally let Mary go. Turning to face you, everything suddenly became very clear in Arthur's mind. Everything he ever wanted: someone who loved the group of people he considered family, as well as loving him for the man he was - despite his faults, someone who was willing to stick with him through thick and thin, make him laugh when he was down, and never fail to make him smile, that special someone he wanted to grow old with with...he already had that with you.
Without thinking, he opened his hand and let the battered photograph waft downwards, enveloped by the flames and turning to nothingness as he made his way back over to you, picking you up and spinning you around his arms.
   "I'm all yours...are you mine?"
